As usual Dewey comes through when others have counted him out. The grief he shows is at the most human and real to anyone that has suffered loss of a loved one. Good book and I'm looking forward to the next one.

There are captivating, truly thrilling, realistic adventures from cover to cover. But this book goes well beyond the usual scope of this genre. The subplots and back stories are deep, intense, and gripping. (Psst- computers to hand-to-hand to firearms to nukes to even a beautiful Russian ballerina.) One comment on substance: the penetration of CIA COMM would have been a perfect opportunity for dezinformatsiia. And another on style: the author tends to begin subplots well before they're connected with the rest of the story. This isn't unusual for longer books, and you'll have to have some patience even though you'll be anxious to see what's next. Plan to spend some time enjoying this book; it's 512 pages (in hard copy).

A fast-paced narrative with continuous action, without losing sight of the main plot. I also found the ending to be quite satisfying. I'm new to Dewey Andreas, and I got a feeling that I'll come back for more.

The first third of Ben Coes’ fifth Dewey Andreas thriller features, in my opinion, some of the best writing in the series. Unfortunately a reasonable amount of suspension-of-belief is stretched to the point of incredulity in the final chapters. Novelists apparently feel the same pressure Hollywood script writers, directors and producers experience – to surpass the previous installment of a hit series. The Fast and Furious movies are an example with ever-increasing and more elaborate stunts, and computer-generated effects. When Independence Day, initially announced for a spring 2014 release, was postponed a year, I imagined the issue was a requirement for extensive re-writing or research. Whatever it was, the end result is, at least in part, disappointing. Andreas is an intriguing and bold figure, but he and fellow characters are more interesting when they aren’t portrayed as super-heroes.

Love the Dewey Andreas character. He and Mitch Rapp (dearly departed Vince Flynn) are (were) just great. I always look forward to a new Ben Coes offering these days. Very solid effort with this one. Keep up the great work!

Since the death of Vince Flynn one author stands out in this genre and it is Mr. Coes. In Independance Day, in the beginning, we see a more human side of Dewey. Both good and bad. Ben Coes may have outdone himself although Power Down is still my all time favorite of his. This is a must read, as are all the others as well.. just wondering when the next one is coming out already.

His vivid description of action in all scenes makes me feel like I am there with him.

Moral of the story - do not mess with the US and do not mess with Uncle Dewey Andreas.
