Into the void once more we go! Donna Grant is once again taking us into the world of Dragons and Fae, Humans and Warriors.. As they fight the never ending battle of Good vs Evil and who will rule the world. What more can you ask for?

Fire Rising is the second full book in Ms. Grant's Dark Kings Series and in typical Donna Grant fashion she emerges us into a world where anything is possible.

Fire Rising is Tristan's Story and wow what a story it is. Tristan appeared on the scene a newly minted Dragon King, King of the Ambers, just two years ago. Literally falling from the sky. The first new Dragon King since before time and yet a blank sheet where his past is concerned. But no worries, Tristan fit in well with the Kings and has found his place. BUT it seems he has more of a history than even he could imagine and a wonderful connection with the Warriors.

He may be new to the Dragons but Tristan is a man too and as appreciated of a pretty lass as the next man. Easy going in general but extremely loyal. When Bannon's mate Jane is worried about her sister. Tristan offers his help and the compelling connection between the two rocks his world just a little bit more than he planned. His need to protect and care for her is almost over whelming.

Sammi Miller was an only child for most of her life but as an adult a surprise half sister shows up. One who lives not too far away on the Dreagan estate. While Sammi is not really trusting of relationships she keeps Jane at arms length but Jane has made it clear that she is there for her. So when her partner gets them in trouble with the mob and her beloved pub is blown to smithereens, Sammi can only think of one place to go. She just worries about bringing trouble to their door. Poor Sammi, she has absolutely no idea.

While the connection between Tristan and Sammi sizzles Ms Grant lets it simmer throughout the book. Keeping it on the back burner, we are always aware of it and it is what holds the story together BUT it's not always in the forefront of the book.

That would be the fight between the Dark Fae and the Dragons. Or discovering who their mysterious enemy is (thoughts on that later) Or Tristan dealing with some new found relations.. Or...

Donna does it again! Her talent for weaving a wicked tale is just outstanding.

Now my thoughts on some things.. MIGHT BE CONSIDERED SPOILERS...

Ulrik - Donna keeps pointing the dragons in his direction. Leaving a breadcrumb trail to his door but is he the enemy? Or is there another. I am still not sure. For some reason I just keep thinking there is way more to the story than we are seeing. Type of the iceberg kind of thing. Is Ulrik totally pissed at Con? You bet. Does he want the return of the dragons? Yep.. But... Yeah see I just don't know.

Con - What's going on with Con? What has he done in the past to protect Dreagan? What has he sacrificed and why is he so angry when the Dragons find their human mates?

Rhi - Ok, who is the mystery king she loves? I am going for Con.. but once again that seems to be the obvious choice. But it would be in typical Con behavior to walk away from love so he can protect Dreagan. Hmmmm

Ok, those are my questions.. I am sure they will eventually be answered. I am just enjoying the ride.

Tristan I loved right off, I loved his fierce protectiveness the boy had for Sammi, "by how skinny she is, I'm betting she missed quite a few meals." The longer Tristan thought of all Sammi had told him, the angrier he got. "I'd like to meet the a**holes who blew up her pub and shot at her." The scorching passion they had was just brilliant:
She clung to him as his mouth kissed and licked to her ear. "It warms beneath my hand."
"Hmm. That's no' all that's hot for you." Sammi shivered as he took her mouth in a possessive, dominating kiss. His hand slid sensuously down her back to cup her butt and bring her against his thick arousal.
Tristan I thought did have a lot to learn where women are concerned especially Sammi, he's slowly learning though, "it was." He wound a lock of her wavy, sandy hair around his finger. "I think the kiss we just shared proved that when it comes to you, I have no control. I see you, I want you, and I have to have you." I do love my dragons and I love this series.

Yikes! Catching up on reviews!!! Okay... There's a lot of mystery surrounding Tristan and I've been intrigued from book one! Mind you, I haven't read the other books from the spin of series so I don't know his past, but I'm completely, utterly captivated. That's how awesome Donna's writing is!

Sammie's world has been torn apart and must now seek refuge with the one person she hardly knows, her half sister, who happens to reside at Dreagan. So the story of Tristan and Sammie begin. Lots of bad things are happening to Sammie and Tristan is determined to keep her safe. She fights her feelings for him at first and of course, something big has to happen for her to wake up and realize what they have between them is real.

The character development for both the hero and heroine is great and I love that in this series, we get to see the other cast of characters we've come to know and love from the previous books. Donna keeps us wanting more and this is a true testament of a great series!

This was my first venture in to Dark Kings series, and Wow! And my first impression was Wow! what have I been missing. I loved this book from start to finish. The heroine, Sammi Miller owns a pub. Her business partner and ex-lover had been using the pub to launder money for the mob with out her knowing. She finds her self on the run when the mob come around searching for her ex-lover and then her.
She manages to escapes, and in hiding she is rescued by Tristan a handsome but very mysterious man.
Tristan is a Dragon King. He is troubled as he has no past memories, but want's to move forward with his life. He finds Sammi hungry and wounded and a yearning to care and protect can not be denied.
The story follows many twists and turns as Tristan fights to protect Sammi, and deeper evils are exposed.
If you love thrilling action, intrigue, suspense, tender romance and shifter dragons,
this books for you.

Wow another fantastic book from Donna , i have been reading her books now for a while now but this is my first review for her books as i didn't know about the authors on facebook, this book like all the rest i have read are books i cannot put down , she takes on a wild ride with the dragons ,also love that she has the warriors there to , her descriptions of when they turn into dragons is spell binding , i so loved Tristan because he seemed so confused and didn't know if he would find his way with the dragons or warriors , Sammi a pub owner who loses her business because of the mob and is on the run and she ends up at Dreagan where she meets up withTristan and the rest you have to read yourself ,awesome book , now onto the next one . Thank you Donna for an awesome read.

HOLY MACHO DRAGON KING HOTNESS!

FIRE RISING is the second book in Donna Grant's impassioned Dark Kings series about Scottish dragon shifters. I love my Highlanders AND my dragons and this read had both laced with sexy Scottish brogue! The Dark Kings are a spin-off from her Dark Warriors series which in turn are a spin-off from her Dark Sword series. All are set in the Highlands of Scotland. I inhaled the first book in this series, DARKEST FLAME. There are interconnected characters and continuing threads in the series. FIRE RISING can be read as a standalone as the author seamlessly fills in needed background information. However, I would expect that your enjoyment would be exponentially increased the more previous books you have read.

Fire Rising continues the Dark King Series with hot dragon heroes, equally enticing heroines, a captivating story with lots of suspense and passion. Tristan, with his missing memory but strong heart, is the perfect flawed hero. While Sammi is an independent female who learns that you need friends and family in this life. That’s a life lesson for us all. The villains are still evil and mysterious while the good guys are lovable and courageous. As I have come to expect, Ms. Grant develops characters that have the depth and complexity needed to hold my interest. I also found that the story line continues to have underlying twists and turns. It kept me guessing who was at the bottom of the murder and bombing of Sammi’s bar that begins the story.
Love this series.

Donna Grant's second installment to the Dark King series, is Fire Rising, an amazing story of a dragon king, the newest to join the dragon Kings is Tristan, a man with no memories of his past and has taken his role as a dragon king seriously regardless of the why or how he became one, the King of the Amber dragons has set his dragon gaze on the intense stunning beauty Sammi, who is running for her life, and who trust no one, for her life may depend on it. But being wounded causes her to run to Dreagan and in the sights of the dragon king.

This Story will bring you alot of different elements, emotions, surprises and the wonderful world of the Fae, Dragons and the beloved Warriors! This is my favorite book so far this year and I do highly recommend it..

I'm enjoying the way this plot weaves together with those in her other books and that Ms. Grant doesn't just retell the same plots of others. Her twist IS different and unexpected. I find these a highly enjoyable read. A bit predictable, but I am looking for a love story and not a suspense novel, so that's okay.

I am an everything Donna Grant writes addict. The Dragon King books are amazing. I've looked forward to Tristan's book from the very moment he fell from the sky. I'm always reluctant to read a book I've looked forward to for a long time, it usually disappoints. NOT this one!! A great addition to the Kings. Loved Tristan and Sammi's book!

What an exciting ride!! Sammie runs into unexpected trouble that leads her straight to Dreagan. Tristan, battling with his identity, finds himself wanting to protect her. This leads to an amazing adventure and reveals passions from within. Being the 2nd book of the Dark Kings it is already at the top of “My Favorite Series” list. Love It, Donna!!!

Have the entire series, strong characters woven together with each other - I feel as thought I know them all, and want to know all of their stories! Cannot wait for next, and next, and next... then will start reading series all over again! They are all 'keepers'!!
