I really enjoyed this book. I don't usually read mystery books, but I found it very funny and entertaining!!! The character is cocky but has a very honorable soft side!! Great book, I am on to the next!!!!!

I got introduced to "Jim Knighthorse" in the Vampire for Hire series. It is great to see Jim in his own element and his character is hillarious. I love his humor and the way he handles both himself and his cases.

I thouroughly enjoyed this whole series! Haven't read the vampire ones yet... But the detective series was great. I'm a big Harlan Coben fan and found these just as enjoyable. Maybe not quite as funny, but more like a real person. The lower reviews keep talking about the mixed up, new age spirituality but I found it refreshing and thought provoking. My only complaint is that they seemed too short, but as I didn't put these down it could just be me.
A Dark Mafia Romance - Alpha Men, Book 1 :: The Inside Story of How The War on Terror Turned into a War on American Ideals :: On the Ground in Afghanistan with America's Elite Special Forces by Kevin Maurer (2013-06-04) :: How Too Much Of A Good Thing Leads To Disaster :: Book 3 - No Rest for the Wicked - Immortals After Dark

I really enjoyed this story. A big tough guy, private investigator and ex-football player. Yummy. I liked the fact that he isn't perfect either, that he has a few flaws that make him a more realistic character. I liked the story line and did not for once figure out who done it. I look forward to reading the rest of the series to see what other trouble Jim Knighthorse gets himself into, and out of.

I love this fast moving detective book. Never read any J R Rain before, and missed in the second his interaction with God, that was a rally good part of the book. Hope to see and read many more.

I love Jim Knighthorse as much as I love Samantha Moon, in the Vampire Detective also by JR Rain.
This book is full of witty dialogue and you really get to know the characters.
I can't wait for his new one to come out Nov 1!!!

Rambles a bit, using characters in somewhat disconnected way. Knighthorse is irratatingly proud of his looks and detective abilities. His cop friend, Sanchez, and Knighthorse do some questionable, no not questionable--definitely wrong--things in the book, but you still see them as the "good guys" because they do them for the right reasons. I liked the story, but thought it could be a little tighter. Knighthorse grows on you as you get into the story, and you really start to like him "warts" and all. I also liked the character Jack and I hope to see Sanchez in the next book as well, because I will be reading another Jim Knighthorse book.

No deep thinking required. You won't strain your grey matter reading miss Rain's novel. You will find a likable if occasionally cliche' version of PI that you can't help but enjoy. A good read for the price"free" entertaining and well paced.

I found this book in the "religious fiction" section on the Kindle page. Some reviewers indicated that religious themes were woven casually throughout the book. I took a chance, and although it was very well written and entertaining, it was not Christian. Religious yes--Christian, no. I had to skip paragraphs--much like fast-forwarding parts of a movie. I can agree with other reviewers that the writing was wonderful and very amusing. I was, however, a little alarmed at the positive portrayal of vigilante justice on the part of Jim Knighthorse. I won't spoil the story, but that part, although it did show his character, was the part that saddened me the most. I thought other Christian readers might appreciate a "heads up."

Wow. I read this after reading "HUNTER: A Thriller" by Robert Bidinotto, what a let down this book was after reading that. Dark Horse goes in many directions. The main guy wants to play football, he's 30 which was told like a dozen times, he drinks all the time yet works out everyday, thinks he is gods gift to women and is working on a murder case, but he is not a cop, just a PI. His mom got whacked 20 years ago but can't come to grips with finding her killer and instead takes these odd and end cases. O and he talks to God at a McDonalds about a half dozen times. This book spins around all of these generic highlights of this guys life, and his romantic life, to no end. I finished the book in a couple days but what a let down as I marched on. Nothing went anywhere... If your bored as hell and have read every other thriller that is free then get this, otherwise move on. Highly recommened Hunter though if you haven't read that.

I read the reviews of this book before I downloaded it and it had mostly good reviews. I was pretty surprised to see that overall it has a rating of 4 stars. It is a pretty bland detective novel. The main character is not that interesting, actually none of the characters are that interesting. On the bright side it was a free book!

Best selling Kindle and Nook author? Four star review? You are so right in all your comments, T3KJV! Inconsistent, poor dialog, poor editing, unlikable protagonist going in too many directions. I truly do not understand how this amateurish writing could possibly garner four stars. Drek! From now on, when I see "best selling Kindle author" I'll know it's based on something other than quality of writing or story-telling ability, and I'll steer clear.
