I order a lot from the store.com and have not had any issues in the past. However; I just started reading this book and got to page 168, then it skips to page 193. Pages 169 through 192 are not in the book! And now I have passed my "window of opportunity" to return it.

The seller not only missed the last possible ship date, but then did nothing to make amends. I received the book a month after I ordered it and three weeks after receiving two other books I ordered from different sellers on the same exact day. What bad Business. The seller might have the book you like but, as with me, if it is a book in a series or a book you would like in a timely manner don't order from this seller. I am sorely disappointed that you pay so much for shipping yet the seller took no responsibility to make amends. (NONE) Love this book that I bought at Barnes and Noble and not happy with the seller or with the store.

It was hard trying to figure out whether to give this book a two or three star rating. As much as I enjoy the Stephanie Plum series so far, this one did not catch my attention the same compared to the previous two.
First, the crime/plot in this novel. Mo. Let me just say by the end of the novel I didn't want to hear about Mo no mo'. To me, the crime(s) that this novel revolved around were boring. Boring to the point I didn't care who murdered who and I didn't care about the characters that were being murdered. I definitely wasn't sitting in anticipation speculating who could be the murderer because I wasn't interested and the mystery component did not keep me entertained.
Two things this novel had going for it was: Lula and Morelli. They sold the book! Lula especially was hilarious. Morelli? Gotta love him! But with that being said, I also felt that even his character was underplayed compared to the prior novels.
I would still recommend the series as a whole because I do find them funny and enjoyable in addition to being an extremely quick read. This book in particular though? Meh. I can only hope for more in the next installment.

I enjoy reading the Stephanie Plum novels simply because they are fun. They are what I like to call literary candy. I can knock one of these novels off in and afternoon and late evening and am entertained from cover to cover.
In this third episode in the series Stephanie (The most inept bounty hunter ever born), is hot on the trail of a very popular candy store owner who has sort of vanished and may have turned into a vigilante killer of drug dealers...or maybe not! There are numerous side plots and story off shots throughout the book and the action and hilarity seldom slows down.
The regular characters from `The Burg' have all returned and even though the author sort of recycles some of her material from book to book, they are still funny and I find myself constantly snickering and laughing throughout the read.
Now I know that it is quite easy to go all literary snobby when one of these books are reviewed but I personally feel the entire point is missed when this is done. These books are not serious reading but the author is a good story teller and has a great; if not sort of quirky, sense of humor. This shows though in ALL of her characters - even the `bad guys." The books, this one included, should be read for the sheer fun of the read.
Now all that being said I have to ask myself if I would pay full price for a hard copy of these books when they are first published. I have to be honest and say no and that is why I use the library...thank goodness for libraries. I would miss out on a lot of good reading without them.
I most certainly enjoyed this one.

PLOT OR PREMISE:
This time around Plum's got a dandy assignment: pick up Uncle Mo, the owner of the local soda shop who everybody thinks is a saint. He got picked up for carrying a concealed weapon (which everybody says is no real crime at all) and promptly jumps bail for no apparent reason. She no sooner asks the first person about Mo's whereabouts, and lo and behold, her mom is getting complaints about her harassing poor Uncle Mo. Ah, life is just peachy. Add in a couple of vigilante types who keep warning her away from Mo, some more involvement with Jackie and Lulu (the hookers from book one), and life gets interesting.
.
WHAT I LIKED:
I liked the expansion of the various characters again. As well, its kind of fun to see the relationship develop between Joe and Stephanie, even if it is romance-by-the-book. :) The grandmother is less pronounced in this one but Lulu more than makes up for it as she wants to kick butt too. Ranger is definitely an interesting presence, and fun for everyone.
.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
This book is a little more hard-boiled, complete with lots of guns blazing, and some harder-core motives for stuff. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it detracts a bit from the otherwise amusing antics of Stephanie as she is still learning the ropes about being a bounty-hunter.
.
DISCLOSURE:
I received no compensation, not even a free copy, in exchange for this review. I am not personal friends with the author, nor do I follow her on social media.

This is a classic story of people not always being like what they seem. Uncle Mo seemed like a stand-up citizen. A guy that everyone loved and an upstanding member of society that sold candy to children. When he is arrested for carrying concealed, Stephanie has to try to bring him in so they can collect the bond money. She keeps hitting a brick wall of nobody wanting to help her out because every loves Uncle Mo.
It was a fun book. There was a lot of action and craziness. I love the emergence of Lula as a big character. As if there weren’t enough comical characters to begin with, she bring even more of a comedic edge as she rolls up in her red Firebird.
I am really starting to like Ranger more as a character now as well. I never disliked him, but he was always just a background character. He and Stephanie have an interesting working relationship, and I like them working together.
As with the first two, the relationship between Stephanie and Morelli is teased throughout the book, I just wonder how long it will take before they are officially together, or whether they ever will be.
Now, Grandma Mazur is trying to find herself a boyfriend, so Stephanie’s parents’ house is even more interesting than ever before. Her family is hilarious and adds something unique to these books.
Altogether, this was a really good read. I can’t wait to read the next one.
5/5 Stars
Memorable Quotes: “I exchanged my flannel shirt for a Rangers jersey and zapped the television on. Probably I should make more phone calls, but the Rangers were playing and priorities were priorities.”
“Damn. What were the chances of two people breaking into Mo’s at the same time? I shook my head in disgust. Crime was getting out of hand in Trenton.”
“I’d decided at an early age to stop being embarrassed over my family. This is yet another advantage of living in Jersey. In Jersey everyone has the right to embarrass themselves with no reflection on anyone else.”
“’When a man’s got a nose like a penis he’s likely to do anything,’ Lula said. ‘It’s the sort of thing makes serial killers out of otherwise normal people.’”
“I knocked on the door and waited, wondering what sort of reception I’d get, praying Morelli was alone. If he had a woman with him I’d be so embarrassed I’d have to move to Florida.”

I liked this story. This is the 3rd one I've read, and it's pretty much the same as the first two. I could see more character development of Lula and Ranger, though Ranger's still a mystery. This book wasn't as funny as the others, though I still laughed (a little bit). Stephanie seems to have learned a little more about being a bounty hunter, but I find her life to be repetitious. The same thing happens over and over again: wake up, shower, feed Rex, do bounty hunting stuff, eat at parents, go home (in a different car EACH TIME), answer door for Morelli who has brought a pizza... and the ending is anti-climactic... they leave out the back door of the cabin and roll down the hill, and next scene Stephanie's getting out the shower. It just cuts out way too quickly for me, almost like the author wanted to wrap things up, or got fed up with it; granted, it was still a good story, not much of an interesting mystery (although I really had no idea what was going on until about halfway through), and it wasn't suspenseful at all. Still no chemistry between Stephanie and either of the guys. And what's up with Stephanie's diet anyway? She eats more than 2 doughnuts every day (after breakfast), cheeseburgers, fries, pizza, fried chicken... and yet she's 5'7 and 125 lbs? Even a person with high metabolism can't escape the effects of such fatty foods eaten so often. And I mean this is every day, not just once in a while. Even still, it was a quick read and the author kept me intrigued. I'm not sure anymore if I'd recommend these, and I'm not sure if I'm gonna continue on with the series. Probably will, since I've taken a liking to the characters, though be it a small liking.

Three to Get Deadly
Janet Evanovich was born in South River NJ and has since moved out of state. This 1997 book has sixteen chapters on its 300 pages. Stephanie Plum works as a recovery agent to capture people who jumped bail (she previously worked as a lingerie buyer for a department store that went out of business). He cousin Vinnie is the Bail Bondsman. The jumper is Mo, an older man who operated a local candy store and was popular in the neighborhood. [Does this imply something about this elderly bachelor?] He was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon! [This seems like a fantastic story as the oligarchy of NJ harshly restricts people’s rights to keep and bear arms.] Stephanie begins her search in the local neighborhood. Most have a high opinion of Mo whose store was popular with children.
The story goes on with a description of Stephanie’s activities. Does this seem realistic for Trenton, or any large city in the Metropolitan area? What about where you live? Most cities or towns disapprove of discharging guns needlessly. But this adds drama to this comic mystery novel. Stephanie has problems with a brand-new imported automobile! [I find this hard to believe, don’t you?] Often Stephanie seems to ‘luck out’ when she is in trouble. This is like one of those old movie serials from the 1930's-1940's (known as “cliffhangers”). This story is littered with details to add authenticity but which now date it. [“Bernoulli box” - who remembers them now?] The idea of a man filming porno movies ignores the problem of distributing them, a business controlled by organized crime. Where do the actors and actresses come from in that area?
This novel has a flaw shared by many. The idea that drug dealing is caused by the seller is as ridiculous as saying obesity is caused by grocery stores. They are only a small part of the problems of society. Killing them out of hand does not affect the economy that creates sellers who have no other job prospects. Or the human nature that makes some people want these substances. If this were a movie it would be R-rated for some of its scenes. But this may also explain its appeal. In the real world church membership would be more prominent in “the burg” (at least in the past). This story does not rank with the classic novels of Gardner, Chandler, or Hammett.

Mo is a much loved character around the Burg, he's the owner of the local sweet shop and adored by all, from the youngest children right through to the little old ladies who frequent his shop. Unfortunately Mo has skipped his bail and it's Stephanie's job to bring him in, something that might be a little bit easier if his fan club wasn't causing her problems at every turn. Nobody can believe that Mo could possibly have done anything wrong so of course Stephanie comes across as the mean woman with nothing better to do than cart an innocent man off to jail which doesn't exactly make her very popular with the locals. When dead bodies start turning up and Stephanie finds herself being threatened by masked gun men warning her to stop looking for Mo she knows she's out of her league so she calls in the help of bounty hunter extraordinaire Ranger.
This series is just so much fun to read, Stephanie is such a trouble magnet and she always manages to stumble into such crazy situations that you just have to laugh at her antics. In Three to Get Deadly we see her crazy sidekick Lula play a bigger part, we also get to find out a bit more about Ranger (personally I like Lula's theory that he's a secret superhero in his spare time!) and of course we see more of our favourite local cop Morelli. I'm not going to say much about the plot but expect plenty of wacky antics, weird and wonderful characters and unexpected twists. Janet Evanovich never fails to make me snort with laughter and this series always leaves me grinning from ear to ear - even on a reread.

Want to laugh out loud? Then I recommend Janet Evanovich's, Three To Get Ready! Stephanie Plum is a character that tells it like it is. She is a bounty hunter! She gets herself into more trouble trying not to get into trouble. Her friend and sometime lover, Morelli, former high school boy friend and now a local policeman, shows up when least expected. You'll laugh at her family life. Grandma, mom and dad sound like the typical parents we remember when we have grown older. Three To Get Ready is a fast moving novel that keeps your interest alive and well. Plum is looking for the owner of a candy and ice cream store, Uncle Mo, has failed to appear in court. Bodies of known drug dealers are nearly filling the streets of Trenton, NJ. Who is targeting these dealers? Uncle Mo the candy and ice cream owner? Lula, a former prostitute, has joined Plum and adds a lot of fun. Is Lula as tough as she sounds? I know you'll really enjoy this novel. Rate "R" for sexual content and language. DP, Castro Valley, CA.

Third in the series still finds Stephanie inept. She is after the friendly candy store owner Uncle Mo beloved member of the community. But something is wrong, he shouldn't have run and other strange things are happening. Some men are threatening Stephanie and Mo's lawyer. Drug dealers keep turning up dead as well. Are they connected? Still funny but just ridiculous which I willingly ignore after reading a book if it doesn't interfere with reading. this though is getting hard to ignore. She sucks at her job, has good luck to wander into things, but should be dead or arrested dozens of times over.

After what is generally agreed upon as a not-really-bad-but-not-really-great second book, everybody's favourite female fugitive apprehension agent (or bounty hunter to you and me) is back on form.
Any reader who has reached this far in the series will have become solid fans of Stephanie Plum by now. Those who are checking out the series the first time should get the "Three Plums in One" Omnibus. Those who didnt return after finishing the second book, though, should hop on back onto the bandwagon. Its okay. All is forgiven.
The gang's all here. Connie, Lula the ex-hooker, Ranger, Morelli, Pa and Ma Plum, Grandma Mazur and Rex the lovable hamster. Steph is still a bumbling agent but slightly more experienced now. She's very out of shape though. In one scene, Ranger finished 50 push ups in five minutes while Steph managed to squeeze in...one!
Ranger plays a more active role here than in the second book. Not only is he assisting Stephanie in her search for her FTA but is also pushing her to get fit with early morning jogs. This is one thing that I found inconsistent though. In the first book we read that Stephanie likes to run a few miles to stay in shape. But now Ranger has to force her to exercise. Mind you, the story did take place in the cold month of January and Ms. Plum isnt that obsessive on fitness anyway (she eats doughnuts like a cop, fer crying out loud!).
But this is to nitpick.
The story itself is fast-paced. The dead bodies are piled high (as per usual), the mystery keeps you interested and the humour is very tongue in cheek.
Its the humour that stays in your memory long after you've finished the book:- Stephanie's hair turning orange after a visit to the hairdresser's ("You look like Ronald McDonald"); or when Stephanie's mom and grandma had their noses pressed to the glass pane, squinting into the night waiting for Stephanie and all she could say to Ranger was, "My sister's normal. Always has been."
I guess you had to be there.
So be there.

Ms. Evanovich has done it again! Three to Get Deadly is the third installment in the Stephanie Plum series. The book picks up where Two for the Dough left off. Stephanie continues her work as a bail bondman with her trusty sidekick (former prostitute Lula), Ranger, and love interest Joe Morelli. This time around, Stephanie is tasked with bringing in 'Uncle Mo'. A local candy shop owner and darling of the town where she lives in New Jersey. Taking down Mo won't be easy since all inquiries into his whereabouts are met with comments such as 'Uncle Mo? You leave that nice man alone' or 'Uncle Mo would NEVER do anything illegal. Quit looking for him and catch some real criminals'. All this makes for an interesting case as bodies of deceased drug dealers start mysteriously piling up and they all seem connected to Uncle Mo or his candy store. Stephanie Plum fans will enjoy this book. I look forward to reading the next one in the series, Four to Score.

The third book in Janet Evanovich's highly acclaimed Stephanie Plum series (Three to Get Deadly) is easily the funniest and most entertaining book in the series so far. (I haven't read any of the books proceeding "Three to Get Deadly" but I have read
"One for the Money," and "Two for the Dough." Evanovich is a gifted writer and easily writes laugh-out-loud humor. Her Stephanie Plum series is brilliant, the characters are well developed, Stephanie is great and just like your average next door neighbor. Stephanie Plum lives in New Jersey in a part of town called "The Burg". She's a bounty hunter at her cousin Vinnie's bail bond business. Vinnie uses her to pick up FTA's (Failure to Appear) which she doesn't mind until he asks her to pick up Uncle Mo. Mo is a candy store owner, saintly almost, and she's reluctant to pick him up since everyone likes Mo and every one will hate her for arresting him. She thinks it will be simple but when she arrives at his candy store he's not there. With the help of Lula, an ex-prostitute who is now her secretary (sort of) she begins to track down Mo only to suddenly begin encountering the dead bodies of drug dealers. Joe Morrelli (the man Stephanie loves, but refuses to admit it) a cop is looking for the killer, but all the evidence points to Stephanie.
The dialogue between Stephanie and Morrelli is very witty, very well written. Stephanie is one of the best characters ever created and they need to make a movie about it. Even though I think these books are geared toward women, men should enjoy these books just as much. I hope Evanovich never stops writing these books. A+.

The hilarious family-tied bounty hunter, Stephanie Plum is back is the third book in Janet Evanovich's series. In this one, Stephanie finally makes some progress.
Stephanie Plum, the lingerie buyer turned bounty hunter, is after "Uncle Mo," the local candy store operator, known by everybody in the neighborhood as the man with the biggest heart. Uncle Mo skips his court appearance for carrying a concealed weapon, and Stephanie, against her better wishes, goes after him to get him to "reschedule." Mo is nowhere to be found, and the body count of the local drug dealers around his store continues to rise. Stephanie gets no help from the locals, seeing as how they all think he deserves a medal. Throw in her off-and-on flirtations with Joe Morelli, her seemingly wacky impulse shopping sprees and mounting car woes, and you have one entertaining mystery novel.
Stephanie is at her finest in this book, despite her hair troubles, and lack of a sex life. But that's what makes her New Jersey's most unconventional bounty hunter. Lula, the prostitute turned file clerk, has a much greater voice in this novel, and she truly adds color to the story with her witty dialogue. Police officer Joe Morelli and fellow skip trcaer Ranger are back again to add some professionalism to Stephanie's life, and of course, what would this book truly be without her clan of family in the background. Dinner time just wouldn't be the same.
The book flows at a blistering pace, and Evanovich's cogent writing style is peppered with just the right amount of humor. The plot has its fair share of twists and turns, and the storyline maintains its interest throughout. The suspense is outstanding. It is hard not to enjoy this book.

THREE TO GET DEADLY by Janet Evanovich
Here's the third book in the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, THREE TO GET DEADLY. In this installment, Stephanie works closely with ex-hooker-turned-office-clerk Lula as she goes in search of missing Moses Bedemeir, an elderly man who owns the neighborhood candy store. The rest of the people in the neighborhood refer to him as Uncle Mo, with great affection, and it seems that Mo can do no wrong.
As in the first two novels, THREE TO GET DEADLY is a tongue-in-cheek book about an amateur bounty hunter, Stephanie Plum who, in desperate need of money, goes after all sorts of shady creatures in order to get paid. With the help of cop Joe Morelli and Ranger the Rambo-like bounty hunter, Stephanie goes after the leads that seem to point to a Mo that is not quite as friendly and sweet as the neighborhood thinks. Along the way she finds her life endangered, is teased and tormented by Morelli, and of course who can resist Grandma Mazur? I personally loved her interaction with her pet hamster Rex. She may have convinced me to get one of my own!
Most of the laughs this time come from the antics of Lula and Stephanie. To Stephanie's chagrin Lula manages to tag along with her during stake outs and break-ins, as Stephanie tries to find out what happened to Mo. Unfortunately, Lula has a hard time being discrete, and the adventures that the two get into had me laughing again as I read along.
As with the previous two books, I am giving THREE TO GET DEADLY a big recommendation. These books are so much fun! I am looking forward to the fourth book, FOUR TO SCORE.

This third book in the Stephanie Plum series opens with Stephanie getting the unpleasant assignmentof "apprehending" the fugitive Uncle Mo. Initially, Stephanie thinks this should be an easy job, since Uncle Mo is one of the burg's most popular residents and has run a candy shop there for many years. The job rapidly turns ugly, though, because her friends and family can't believe that Stephanie would actually try to put such a "nice guy" in jail. But of course, there's more to Uncle Mo than meets the eye. It turns out that he's somehow involved in a suspicious string of murders of drug dealers in the burg. As Stephanie tries to track down Uncle Mo, she gets involved with the murders, even personally discovering a couple of dead bodies herself.
I love the hysterical characters and situations in this book! "Three to Get Deadly" develops the character of Lula, former hooker and now a co-worker of Stephanie's at Vinnie's bond agency. Lula can sure talk some trash, but when put in a sticky situation you can practically see her knees knocking together, as she hightails it off the scene. Read the book to find out what happens with the body that Lula and Stephanie find in the dumpster. I couldn't stop laughing!! Also, I loved the character of Mrs. Steeger, Stephanie's third grade teacher who is ( of course) Uncle Mo's neighbor. Didn't we all have a teacher just like her?
The twists and turns in unravelling Uncle Mo's connection to the drug dealer murders were well plotted. The case gets solved in the last 20 pages, and I thought Ms. Evanovich tied all the loose ends up very nicely.
Darn skippy, Janet Evanovich has written another humdinger! Four and a half stars.

Looks like Janet Evanovich has finally found her stride as 'Three to get deadly' so far tops the whole Stephanie Plum series with a great main plot (which is less predictable than many others of the series) and a multitude of Plum antics left and right, that leave no eye dry and doesnt let you off the hook for a single minute.
Our favorite bounty hunter, Stephanie Plum from Trenton, NJ, is once again in top form. This time she has to hunt down Uncle Mo'. No easy feat, as Mo is Trenton's most liked candy store owner, and Stephanie and her vivid and ever present friend Lula learn quickly, that nobody in Trenton is inclined to offer any assistance to her case. As a result, the two girls stumble from one slapstick situation to another until it becomes evident that Uncle Mo is everything else but your friendly candy seller next door.
But if that wasnt enough to turn her life into turmoil, Stephanie's path repeatedly crosses the ways of the two men in Steph's life, that would make her heart shake and her mind turn upside down. For once, there is the Italio-American cop Joe Morelli. He's charming as ever, attractive and protective - and the reader can't help but take pity with Stephanie's hormones each time Joe steps onto the scene. But then there's also Ranger, Stephanie's mentor. Professional, mysterious and matching Joe Morelli wit for wit and heartthrob for heartthrob. That three-way relation let alone could make up for a good story, but of course, Janet Evanovich has way more in mind for our heroine.
So we read more about Steph, her crew and her droll-and-yet-so-normal family, and we learn how challenging (and comical) it can be, if you gotta transport a corpse - especially when it's starting to become stiff as rock - with your Buick (love that car, one of the really great running gags that are so typical for the whole series, much like the guns every girl and grandma seems to be carrying along in Trenton or the ever changing style of Steph's hair, latter not always happening voluntarily). Or we see Steph chasing a chicken (a real big chicken as it is) on the loose through the big mall. And many more. Go, girl, get 'em all!

In Three to Get Deadly the reader once again is back in Trenton, NJ with Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter. This time Stephanie is after the saintly Uncle Mo. Moses Bedemier, candy store owner and all around great guy is a FTA (failure to appear). Stephanie has the task of bringing him in. This time though, no one wants to give up information on Uncle Mo. And as if having no leads is bad enough, dead bodies start popping up everywhere around Stephanie. Stephanie tries to tie it all together with the help of Ranger and Lula and the man she loves to hate, Joe Morelli.
Three to Get Deadly was an interesting read. I must say that after reading this book it was my favorite Plum novel. It had less comedy than the first two. There is still some funny and clever scenes but there aren't as many laugh-out-loud scenes as in the first two. This makes the book seem more like a mystery than a comedy. But by no means is this a keep you on the edge of your seat mystery. This is an easy to read "fun" mystery. Stephanie can manage to get herself into any number of scrapes and situations. Just when you think nothing else can happen to her sure enough something does. This keeps the book fresh and entertaining.
The plot of this book was better than the previous Plum novels. It seemed to be well thought out and written well. There was a real mystery with Uncle Mo. Stephanie seems to be more serious in this book, which allowed it to take on a more mysterious mood.
Three to Get Deadly is a fun, entertaining mystery. It will keep you entertained from first page to last. Definitely one to recommend!

Third time's a charm in this third installment of the Stephanie Plum series.
Joe Morelli is still around but he's just not that into Stephanie--his interest has really waned since the last book and she's a bit peeved about that. What's he up to?
In this caper, Stephanie goes from hero to villain when she takes on the bounty-hunting case of a local candy shop owner gone missing. As she investigates, more than candy cigarettes starts turning up. Dead bodies are piling higher than a triple-stack cone and Stephanie isn't sure if the bad guys or nosy neighbors are trying to bump her off to protect 'Uncle Mo'. With Morelli keeping his distance, Stephanie has to rely more on Ranger, who just oozes 'bad boy' in a very good way. I love the triangle setting up!
These books just keep getting better and better. Reading them is as addictive as a favorite treat although this one is much darker and scarier than the first two.

Evanovich is getting better and better at this series. Stephanie Plum, semi-reluctant bounty hunter for five months now for her bail bondsmen cousin, Vinnie, is still trying hard, still learning her trade, still relying on others as necessary. If she didn't live in Trenton's blue-collar "burg," surrounded by supportive family, old school friends, and her ever-reliable gossip network, she probably would never make it. But she can always call on Ranger, a truly bad-ass bounty hunter and her sometime mentor. And she can always go home for meals when the checks are slow in coming. And especially, she can always depend on vice cop Morelli to show up with pizza, park outside her apartment building watching for the bad guys, and keep her lust stoked. This time, the quarry is the burg's beloved "Uncle Mo" Bedemier, proprietor of the candy store, who has always opposed drugs and bad influences generally and whose store has long been a safe haven for kids. Uncle Mo got tapped by a rookie for carrying concealed and not only has he blown off his court date (which makes him scum as far as Vinnie is concerned, regardless of how the rest of the community feels about him), he's completely disappeared. More than that, drug dealers begin disappearing, too, including several that Stephanie and her wannabe sidekick, Lula, literally stumble over themselves. As with the first two books, there are plenty of very funny, very cinematic scenes here -- especially the great chicken takedown.

One of the good things about this series is that you don't have to read them in order. After book one, I jumped right to this one (because I didn't have a copy of book two).
Stephanie Plum is, as usual, way over her head in her unchosen profession. Untrained, uncoordinated, dysfunctional and disorganized, she's the world's most unlikely bounty hunter - a definite Sandra Bullock role if they decide to make the movie.
This time her main task is simply to track down the town saint, a well-loved candy man with a devoted following of little old ladies, and a stable of nasty goons on the side.
Suddenly people are shooting at her, drug dealers are turning up dead, her vehicles don't work, and her new sidekick is a former hooker with an attitude and a craving for action - once it's not too dangerous.
Acknowledging her limitations, she calls on professional bounty hunter Ranger (part to be offered to Sam Elliot if I have a say in casting) and police officer Morelli (think Colin Farrell), her primary weakness in the romantic department.
After all the expected twists and turns, and the unexpected twists and turns, this turns out to be a wildly funny and entertaining read.

Stephanie's newest job is to find the elusive Mo, patron Saint of the Burg (at least that's what everyone she asks about him tells her). She becomes the hated by family and friends because Vinnie gives her the Uncle Mo hunt!
Steph's usual lineup is in for the ride with her including ex-hooker turned file clerk Lula and Lula's friend/hooker Jackie. The scene in the parking lot with the three of them is enough to have you laughing out loud.
Add in Ranger and Joe and you're in for a wild ride.
She's got people threatening her for looking for Uncle Mo and is fed up with hearing how great he is and add in a Fast food skip that keeps giving her the slip and you just get started. You'll never see those Fast food characters the same way again.
Add in a horrifying day at the beauty shop and Stephanie is ready to go on a rampage of her own.
This volume is funnier and you can't wait for what happens around each corner.
As always Janet Evanovich brings us a Stephanie Plum book that keeps you glued in for the duration of the book and waiting to find out what happens in the next volume and the next. She's got the gift of keeping us captivated by Stephanie and the gang.
Now, it's just a matter of waiting for each new book for our next Stephanie Plum adventure and well worth it!

THREE TO GET DEADLY is the third installment in the Stephanie Plum novel series. With just a little more experience, Stephanie, bounty hunter extraordinaire, is looking for Mo Bedemier, one of Trenton's most beloved citizens for carrying a concealed weapon. While the community is in an uproar about Stephanie chasing Mo, Stephanie seems to have her hands full with a number of dead bodies. If this isn't bad enough, someone is trying to add her name to the recently deceased list. Can Stephanie stay alive while tracking Mo down?
It's official. I'm a fan of the Stephanie Plum series. I love her off the wall relatives, newfound bff, Lula, and the hot and cold relationship that she has with officer Morelli. Battered, bruised and intent on finding her suspect, readers can't help but to find themselves enamored.

Stephanie is in over her head once again. This time the FTA she is assigned to bring in is "Uncle Mo," Trenton's favorite candy-store owner. Old Uncle Mo is beloved by everyone in the Burg. His reputation as a perfect citizen is renowned. However, it looks like even Uncle Mo isn't above the law. When he gets arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and fails to appear in court, none other than Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter, is sent to bring him in.
Stephanie gets more than she baragains for. When rumor spreads around the Burg that she is after Uncle Mo, more than a few neighbors go into a tizzy about how awful Stephanie is to be pursuing this saintly gentleman as if he were a common criminal. But the elusive Uncle Mo isn't easy to find. He disappears without a trace and while he is gone some shady activity appears to take place around his shut down candy-store. Stephanie decides a deeper investigation is warranted. So with her friend ex-prostitute Lulu, now a "bounty hunter in training," Stephanie takes off on a madcap adventure of tracking down thugs that include drug dealers, zealous preachers, and fanatical militia-like vigilantes. Meanwhile, Stephanie's "favorite" cop Joe Morelli isn't far from the scene. The sexual tension that brews between Stephanie and Joe reaches a boiling point. So readers beware: if you wear eyeglasses they may steam up!
Janet Evanovich is back in top form with the third Plum escapade. I gave number one a strong five star rating, but number two dropped to four stars. Don't fret; number three proves that Stephanie is anything but dull. Keep pumping out the stories Janet, you're doing great!

How does Janet Evanovich do it? I have read 4 out of the series so far & they are all as sensational as each other. Her main character, Stephanie Plum, is an ex-lingerie buyer and had taken up bounty-hunting as a career to pay the bills, not that she knows anything any bounty-hunting, she only likes the title!
Stephanie, Lula, Joe Morelli, Grandma Mazur are all excellent & hilarious characters that will have you laughing along to everything they do & say.
In this series, Stephanie finds herself running after Mo, an old guy that had failed to appear in court. Unfortunately for her, he is the town sweetheart, as he never does anything wrong & he has owned the icecream parlour for as long as everyone remembers, so chasing after him is not exactly an easy job as there are many people who love him dearly & don't want to see him caught.
Unfortunately for Stephanie, there are also others after Mo & so the plot thickens while the bodycount is getting higher and Stephanie turns to Morelli, Ranger, dying her hair & eating everything she can, so it will make her job easier ;-)
This is truly a sensational, hilarious book that isn't a brilliant crime thriller but it is the characterisation of Stephanie and her friends & family that will keep you up all night and then buying the rest.
Highly recommended for anyone that loves a great comedy with a bit of murder & mystery thrown in for good measure.

As always, _Three To Get Deadly_ finds rookie bounty hunter Stephanie Plum in too deep and sinking fast. Once again, this books starts only a few months after the previous in the series, and Stepanie's still learning the ropes.
This time around it's Stephanie's job to bring in Moses Bedemier, the closest thing to God-on-Earth in the 'burg. "Uncle Mo", as everyone calls him, has been running the local candy shop for years and he's managed to make nearly everyone in town love him to bits. No one's able to believe that Mo would do anything even remotely against the law. But, as much as everyone loves him, no one knows a thing about him. There's not a single person who knows anything about his personal life. And, as is usually the case, appearances are deceiving, and Stephanie finds herself in the middle of a string of unexplained murders.
As with all the books in the series, the characters are what really make the story fantastic. Ms. Evanovich has a knack for making each and every character come to life in vivid detail. By the time you read this book you'll feel like you're visiting old friends.
Be prepared to laugh throughout the entire book as Stephanie finds herself in over her head more than once.

Ever since Stephanie kicked out her husband for doing something unmentionable with a high school classmate on the dining room table, she has been trying to find her own way. It's tough out there in the real world. Being a lingerie buyer didn't work out, so she's put pressure on a relative to let her be a bounty hunter for his bail bond business. This has given her a new set of friends, including Lula (the toughest ex-streetlady turned bounty hunter in training) and Ranger (her tough-as-nails bounty hunter mentor). But Stephanie is still new to bounty hunting, and things go wrong.
In this installment of the continuing Stephanie Plum sage, Stephanie has three men to bring in. One runs a candy store, another is a kid who works in fast food, and the third is a pusher who's armed and dangerous. Naturally, it's the elderly man with the candy store who's the main problem. She can't find him, no one wants her to find him because he is beloved by the community, and pretty soon dead bodies are stacking up like cord wood wherever Stephanie goes. Three times in one day, she is shot at, and her nerve starts to go. Pretty soon, her normal solo act is being backed up by both Lula and Ranger.
Then, too, Joe Morelli (exboy friend in this story) starts acting strange, Stephanie finds him more attractive. He also moves into a house, and Stephanie starts to wonder if he's ready to settle down. With her guard down after more and more dangerous encounters, Stephanie almost succumbs but is saved by her weak stomach.
The mystery isn't the thing in a Stephanie Plum novel. It's just there to give Stephanie something to do. She's the real focus. Characterization in this fine novel is outstanding. That's the strength of the book. The humor is fine, too. The plot's a little below par, but you'll like the romantic parts and Stephanie dealing with food and exercise. If you have a macabre sense of humor, you'll like some of the corpse humor as well.
The real focus of the story is whether Stephanie is going to retreat into eating all of her meals at her parent's house, move in with Joe Morelli, and give up on chasing bad guys and get a job at the button factory. Although she's very tempted, she keeps her freedom and independence. You'll enjoy the tug of war, and be rooting for Stephanie. If you have children, you'll probably also change your mind about how often you let them go to candy stores alone.
Overcome your tradition stall that catching the bad guys is only for he-men. Stephanie can trip them up with the best!
Enjoy this book the next time you want a good laugh!

Overcome your tradition stall that catching the bad guys is only for he-men. Stephanie can trip them up with the best!
Enjoy this book the next time you want a good laugh!

In the third instalment of the Plum series, Stephanie has to track down an old candy-store owner that's FTA. However, this is no ordinary old man. This is Uncle Mo who is a respected elder in the Trenton community and people are willing to bet their lives on his innocence. As the body count rises, Plum lands right in the middle of drug dealers and low-life fugitives who want her out of the picture. As always, with the help of her friends Ranger, Lula, and Morelli and her family, Stephanie has to make sure that this case will not kill her.
Again, Evanovich gives a lot of laughs, but on the whole I can see weaknesses starting to appear in this series. By now, Stephanie should be getting the hang of the bounty hunter business and getting some skills rather than relying all on luck and Ranger as her back-up. The cat and mouse game Stephanie's been playing with Morelli is getting stale. Grandma Mazur is becoming annoying and how much bad luck can one person have with cars? I like the series and will read 4, 6, and 7 to finish it, but it feels like same old, same old and I hope that Evanovich puts more creativity in spicing up the plots than relying on her old bag of tricks.

Stephanie Plum bounty hunter gets herself in one pickle after another, She's a blue collar type gal from a blue collar type family trying to make it in the business. She stumbles, needs rescue but learns Light- hearted and funny read despite crime and dangerous characters. The movie version of the first in the series , "One for the Money" happened to be on TV as I read this book and was fun to see my imagination of Stephanie and her milieu portrayed so closely with my own imagination. I will read more of the series.

"If I had to name the single most influential person in my life it would have to be Wonder Woman...but it was a cruel fact of life that I was going to have a hard time filling Wonder Woman's Wonderbra," Stephanie Plum muses at one point in her third adventure, THREE TO GET DEADLY. And when it comes to the bounty-hunting business, Stephanie certainly does try to play Wonder Woman--but a modern Wonder Woman who relies on pepper spray, a .38, and a jumbo-sized aerosol can of hairspray to get her man rather than on super powers. In this third entry in Evanovich's popular series, Stephanie's assignment is not an enviable one: She's been assigned to bring in Mo Bedemier, better known to the burg children as "Uncle Mo," a grandfatherly gent who failed to show up for his court date after being charged with carrying concealed. Uncle Mo has run a candy store in the burg for many years, and in the community's eyes he's an upstanding, respectable man. Needless to say, the citizens of the burg are anxious to protect Mo from Stephanie's wrath, and no one is eager to help her bring him in. They're even calling her mother to complain about her! So Stephanie calls on the help of some familiar friends: the intriguing and oh-so-sexy bounty hunter Ranger; Joe Morelli, the vice cop with whom Stephanie's tangled on numerous occasions (in and out of the sheets); and even Lula, the big black ex-hooker who's shadowing Steph, trying to learn the ropes of the bounty-hunting business. As Stephanie continues her search for Mo, she enters a world where drug dealers are dropping like flies and grandfatherly gents may not be exactly what they seem. Despite an accidental dye job that makes her resemble Ronald McDonald, Stephanie's at the top of her game--and the bad guys better watch out!
It's such a delight to reenter Stephanie's world after some time away. She's one of the most fun characters in crime fiction today: spunky, feisty, vivacious, tough but girly too--and yes, she has quite the libido. I mean, what woman wouldn't in the presence of hunks like Ranger and Morelli? She's Jersey through and through, a '90's girl whose closest friend is her hampster, Rex, and who can't seem to keep a car for longer than a book. And her family is equally colorful. I don't really even have the words to describe them--how can you describe Grandma Mazur?
Janet Evanovich's writing is perfect for conveying a heroine like Stephanie. The dialogue is spot-on and absolutely hilarious; the prose is witty and exciting, and the story is so fast-paced. THREE TO GET DEADLY, like its predecessors, is simply a delight to read. Just a few of Stephanie's hilarious mishaps in this outing: tackling a man in a chicken costume while being sprayed with catsup, mustard, and special sauce; chasing an FTA through the mall with her head covered with foil (thus the Ronald McDonald 'do); and yes, being interrupted once again while engaging in some hot and heavy activity with Morelli.
Yes, Stephanie's adventures border on the completely outlandish, but who cares? The books in this series are so much fun to read. I mean, who couldn't love a 30-year-old woman who uses words like "fadiddy" and "doodah" to refer to certain body parts? Just sit back, relax, and get ready to laugh out loud at all of Stephanie's wacky adventures!

Drunks and babies are on their own these days, for the Good Lord must surely have His hands full watching out for Stephanie Plum.
Plum, a fledgling bounty hunter, is none too popular in this third book in the series by Janet Evanovich. Her latest case is to bring in an elderly candy store owner--"such a nice man, he would never do anything wrong," according to the fine citizens of Trenton who wish Steph would turn her attention elsewhere.
Stephanie is still working for her cousin Vinnie, better known for his sexual eccentricites than his service to the public as a bail bondsman. Said eccentricities provided Steph entree into the bounty hunter business in book one of the series, when she threatened to blackmail Vinnie--yes, she needed the job that badly, and besides, she didnt want to work anyplace where she'd be required to wear panty hose. She's improving slightly as a bounty hunter, but only because she had nowhere to go but up after her bumbling start.
Assorted old friends from *One for the Money* and *Two for the Dough* are back--Rex, her hamster; Morelli, her on-again/off-again love interest; Ranger, her mentor and on-again/off-again lust interest; pistol-packin' Grandma Mazur; and Lula, plain-speaking, big-hearted friend of Steph's. Even Big Blue is back--Uncle Sandor's 1953 powder blue Buick, the indestructible car Stephanie wishes she weren't driving.
Things get a little rough in this book--threats, pepper spray, knocks upside the head, and cigarette burns, among other things. But they are counterbalanced by laugh-out-loud humor and a zany cast of characters. The book is an effortless read, and once you've zipped through it you'll want to start over for the sheer enjoyment.
Hey, we can't all be lucky enough to live in New Jersey. If you're not among the chosen ones, check out this book for a vicarious slice of Jersey life.

Everybody in the burg loves Uncle Mo. He and his candy store are institutions and beloved by generations of sweets shoppers. A man who sells ice cream for a living has to qualify for immediate sainthood, don't you think?
So when bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is assigned the task of bringing Mo in after his failure to appear for a weapons charge, people are aghast...that mean old Stephanie is out to get Mo! "Mo would never do that" becomes the new mantra for Trenton, and it's giving Steph a headache. When hooker-turned-file clerk Lula (all 200+ plus pounds of her) volunteers herself as Stephanie's assistant, there soon isn't enough aspirin to be consumed.
Three to Get Deadly chronicles the search for Mo and unpeels the unsightly layers of his so-called saintly exterior, revealing serial killings of area drug dealers and rampant vigilantism which, after a few run-ins, causes Stephanie's bones to ache as well. If I had a dollar for every body found in this book, I'd be up to my armpits in Mo's penny candy.
Despite the seriousness and sheer volume of crime, however, Evanovich is equally big on humor. Stephanie's climatic capture of a runaway FTA fast food worker, for one, is a scream, and the ever-present sexual tension between Stephanie and Joe Morelli is an enjoyable read.

I don't want to diminish the pleasure of the novels in anyway by this statement, so please don't anyone take this to mean that the novels are moronic. With that said, after I have read something heavy, something that requires A LOT of concentration and attention, I like to follow it up with something light that doesn't require my brain cells to overheat. Thus, I picked up Three to Get Deadly by Janet Evanovich.
In Three to Get Deadly, Stephanie Plum is on the trail of a kindly neighborhood figure known as Uncle Mo. Uncle Mo runs a candy store in the 'Burg and everyone loves him. When he fails to appear in court for a carrying a concealed weapon charge, his bond is revoked and Stephanie kicks it into high gear looking for him. Little did she know that she would be villified for her participation in his attempted arrest by the rest of the 'Burg. With no one talking and no clues as to Mo's whereabouts, Stephanie's investigation stalls. One evening, Stephanie tools by Mo's candy store to check for activity. When she finds the back door open and decides to take a peek inside, she is knocked out cold from behind and wakes up next to a dead body! The dead bodies keep piling up around Stephanie, eventually leading her to the conspiracy that holds the key to Uncle Mo's arrest and disappearance.
This novel was packed with action and hysterics! Stephanie Plum is probably the worst bounty hunter in the entire world, but she is resourceful, spunky, and a character that the readers fall in love with instantly. And don't forget about Grandma Mazur and the mysterious Ranger (or Joe Morelli for that matter!). Mix them all together and you get a terrific, quick-paced novel that is hard to put down!
This series is perfect for beach and vacation reading!

Stephanie Plum is back. Working for her cousin Vinnie as a bounty hunter, she goes out on what should be a routine case and discovers it is anything but routine. As bodies pile up, her life is threatened, her hamster is threatened, and her ex-husband is threatened (which is not a bad thing in Stephanie's opinion). She has help along the way from Ranger and Lula, as the case winds to a conclusion.
Uncle Mo seems to be a harmless older man who has been selling ice cream and candy in a small store. Stephanie grew up buying ice cream from Mo, and feels bad about needing to bring him in.
People in the neighborhood think she's a pariah for going after Uncle Mo. But everything is not as it seems. Mo has disappeared, and the search turns up a secret life, not to mention his connection with the murders of drug dealers.
There are a few sidelights, like Ranger trying to get Stephanie into better physical shape; Stephanie's continued problem with vehicles; an occasional appearance of family members; and Stephanie's relationship with Morelli.

While the first two installments of this series were surely entertaining romps of New Jersey's unlikeliest bounty hunter, in "Three To Get Deadly," Janet Evanovich really seems to be hitting her stride. As usual, this is a fast read as Stephanie Plum tries to track down beloved "burg" candy storeowner Uncle Mo who has mysteriously disappeared and left behind a trail of bodies. The danger is as high as ever (even Steph's beloved pet hamster Rex finds himself in peril), but so it is the comedy. The entire supporting cast is back - Morelli, Ranger, and Steph's loveably loony family. "Three's" scene-stealer is Lula, the hooker that Steph befriended in the first installment and who now works at the bail bond agency. The often overly enthusiastic Lula, who can even give Grandma Mazur a run for her money, rides shotgun on many adventures with our bumbling heroine.
Perhaps reviewing "Three" is a bit silly. If you are at this point in the series, there is little doubt that you have already fallen for Steph and her friends, family, and co-workers. "Three" will not disappoint Evanovich fans. Personally, I think it is the best one yet. And as a bonus, the publisher whets your appetite for the next case with the opening chapter of "Four to Score."

I said to myself, "Self, you are not going to laugh aloud and make a fool of yourself. After all, this is the third book in the series already." And I almost made it. For about 10 pages at least. Then I fell apart.
In this outing, La Stephanie is after a much-revered Burg icon: Mo, the long-time owner of the neighborhood's candy store. "Mo would never do anything wrong," Stephanie is told by just about three-quarters of the Burg, most of whom are calling her mother to complain. But Stephanie, intrepid bounty hunter that she is, perseveres.
With her trusty pocketbook in tow (handcuffs, pepper spray, stun gun, a revolver if she remembers to take it from its hiding place in the cookie jar--and of course, every Burg Girl's must-have: a huge can of hairspray), Stephanie is off and running. Her trusty sidekicks in this outing include the hefty Lula, ex-hooker extraordinaire; the incredibly sexy and mysterious Ranger; and the equally sexy Morelli. (Readers of Book 2 will remember that Morelli and Steph experienced "Buick Interruptus" during their adventures; I am sorry to report that this time it's "kitchen floor interruptus").
Eight bodies and several incredibly hilarious mishaps later, Stephanie manages to get her man. I think. I was laughing so hard by the end of the book I had a coughing fit--and NOT from Stephanie's pepper spray, either!
On to Book 4. And for that one, I am NOT GOING TO LAUGH. You hear that, Grandma Mazur?

I bought the first two Evanovich novels at a used book store. They were okay, so I bought the third on Amz. I wasn't over the moon with the first two, but there were some funny bits here and there. I figured that the series would get better, improve as it went along, with character development, etc. On this one it's just...well, how can I say it? A dud. Not funny at all. The characters are unlikeable, they act stupidly and if all women acted this way, we'd never survive.
Now, Janet Evanovich is a well known author. I am a struggling author. Which of us has more trouble getting people to read our books?? *sigh*

Stephanie Plum, the lingerie buyer turned bounty hunter, after blackmailing her cousin Vinnie. As usual, Stephanie Plum's trials and tribulations had me laughing out loud!
In this third book Stephanie is after "Uncle Mo," the local candy store/ice cream parlor owner, known by everybody in the neighborhood! Uncle Mo skips his court appearance for carrying a concealed weapon, and Stephanie, goes after him. Uncle Mo is nowhere to be found. The case soon winds up with attacks by strange anti-drug vigilantes, murdered men and porno films. The body count of the local drug dealers around his store continues to rise! Stephanie gets no help from the locals, only threats to leave uncle Mo alone. Lula, the prostitute turned file clerk, has a much greater voice in this novel, and she truly adds laughter to the story with one trip out on her bounty hunting training. Police officer Joe Morelli is back and Stephanie is even concerned he has a girlfriend since he no longer seems interested. Ranger is also back, with help and exercise!
This novel you really get closer with all the characters. The family dinner time just wouldn't be the same if one of Stephanie's friends wasn't invited to join them.
The book flows at a blistering pace, and Evanovich's writing style is packed with humor. The suspense is outstanding and it is the best mix of comedy and mystery out there. It is hard not to enjoy this book! I highly recommend this series you will laugh off your chair and out loud all the same!

I love the Stephanie Plum series of novels. I really hate reading so I purchase them both in audio for me and paperback for houseguests and friends. I'm drawn in with the excitment and adventure of the story that Janet seems to capture in every novel. It has twists, turns, Lula, mystery, wonder, and of course two very "HOT" men! Who wouldn't want a mix of both men. :} I would recommend the "Plum" series, her "Full" series, as well as her earlier novels of mixed titles. They're all great fun and keep you as a reader at the edge of your seat waiting to see if a cars going to get blown up, who's died this week, who attends the pot roast dinner, who she sleeps with next, what will burn down next, and will she get her man (love or bounty). I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. I look forward to #14 in the "Plum" series, the next "Full" novel, and the new novel Janet recently wrote with a new author being released this October. Thank you!

An engaging read.
I have read all 24 of the Stephanie Plum novels, and I still want to read more.
These novels work because Stephanie Plum is a well-rounded character who struggles with bad guys, and kind of succeeds in the end.

I have read all three books by JE featuring Stephanie Plum, and by far this is the best. I read it at work, yelled at people to leave me alone while reading it at work, sat in the bathroom of my family's small apartment laughing until I cried. I love everything..the cast of characters, the story, everything is presented in such a way that you can see it, it's like it's happening right in front of you and you are an eyewitness..I did miss the intimate interaction between Joe and Stephanie, but agree with one of the previous commentators...sex would ruin everything, but then love does too, doesn't it? Also, her family is just like everyone's...full of characters who meddle and yell and love each other...As soon as my daughter is old enough to understand the words, I will read these books to her...after cleaning up the language, of course. Stephanie beats Nancy Drew any day, and Kinsey and VI should be on alert! Even those who do not like to read will LOVE these books.. Just ask my IHATEBOOKS sister.

Slapstick and irreverent, the adventures of Stephanie Plum, Bounty Hunter, continue to keep her fans howling. Stephanie has an attitude, car woes, some weird eating habits, a number of really, really, really bad hair days, and actually wrestles with a chicken. But she really draws the line when Rex, the hamster, is threatened. Ranger and Joe Morelli take turns leaving Stephanie breathless and/or ticked off, Mama keeps on cooking, Uncle Mo stays missing as the body count increases and the scenarios get wilder and wilder. The cast of characters crosses all lines, and are absolutely extraordinary. This book was so action packed that I have to give a lot of credit to the author, for keeping the story coherent and (somewhat) believable. The scene with Lula and the extra passenger still leaves me shaking my head and snorting.
Let me recommend this one, as light and silly and fun. The unabridged audio is sensational and will have you laughing through the traffic. The reader didn't quite have enough Stephanie attitude, but was still quite good.

After reading a relatively disappointing Two for the Dough, the second installment of the Stephanie Plum series, I was apprehensive about starting the third ... even though I was a bad boy and have already read the fifth installment (High Five), which I loved. Was I disappointed with Three to Get Deadly? Not at all!
In Three to Get Deadly, differing from Two for the Dough, the reader gets teased about Stephanie Plum's (, our lovable bounty hunter from Trenton,) love life; very soap operatic, but hilarious. In addition and more importantly, Three to Get Deadly also contains a real good page-turner mystery. It's hard to relate the story without giving away spoilers, but suffice to say Stephanie is out to get her neighborhood's ice cream man who has jumped bail on a relatively minor offense. Everyone in Trenton loves this old, cuddly man who has been a neighborhood institution for generations. So every hates Stephanie for trying to track him done. Little to they realise our lovable grandpa character is not the sort person people take him for...
Bottom line: not quite High Five material, but still a funny and engaging read. At this stage I hope there is really a Stephanie Plum out there. I'd love to meet her and do lunch. :-)

I rarely laugh out loud while reading, but Stephanie Plum and her motley gang of friends always has me laughing until I cry.
In book three Stephanie is after the neighborhood candy store owner, the beloved Uncle Mo. Everyone in town is mad at Stephanie for trying to bring Mo in on a FTA (failure to appear)
The only support Stephanie is getting is from her friend ex hooker Lula, a wanna be bounty hunter in training.
Steph's usual gang of friends and cohorts make appearances here, including Grandma Mazur, the mysterious Ranger and the sexy and dangerous Joe Morelli.
As the body count rises, it is apparent that there is something a little strange about saintly Uncle Mo. And who are the guys in ski masks threatening Stephanie and her beloved hamster Rex? And why is Stephanies hair bright orange? The answers to all these questions and more will be answered, if only you can stop laughing long enough to finish reading!

Again and again I laughed out loud while reading this book. Several times my husband made me read passages to him so he could hear what was so funny, and I have to report- he laughed out loud as well.
Stephanie Plum is looking for Mo the candy store owner. She certainly doesn't let the fact that EVERYONE she knows is telling her he's not the type to do anything wrong stop her. She doesn't let the fact that everyone is calling her mother stop her. She has a job to do and do it she does.
As the bodies pile up and the tension between her and Joe M. build, Stephanie does her job. The mysterious and sexy Ranger, Lula the ex hooker, the hilarious grandmother, worrying mother and reticent father all add to the book.
I can't think of a series of books, in this genre, that I have enjoyed more. Rather than passing these on to my mother, I bought her the same books so I don't have to share. They are that good.

The first two books in this series had me in stitches, but after I finished the third one, I realized that they just keep getting better. The same quirky characters are in volume three, and Evanovich developed some of my favorite ones right down to every funny detail. The capers in this book are more elaberate, laugh out loud funny, and keep you wanting more. Stephanie Plum's character is so strikingly like the everyday woman, and it is a joy to read of "normal" problems one would encounter as a "bounty hunter". Some of the scenes are unforgettable and have you rolling in your seat (Cluck in the Bucket, and freeway chase scenes to be exact). I can't wait to read the rest in the series and I hope Ms. Evanovich continues the Stephanie Plum series for a long while to come. Who couldn't relate to Stephanie's less than normal family members???!!!! A great novel, especially for the beach.

Its been one of those days for Stephanie Plum, she's been tasked to bring in Uncle Mo, the guy everyone loves. Uncle Mo. has skipped bail on some minor little charge and now is a wanted man. Mo, The owner of the local icecream-candy store has been loved by all the children for generations, and now everyone hates Stephanie for trying to bring him in.
But soon Stephanie is up to her ears in trouble. Her apartment is broken into, she's giving warnings of the unfriendly kind and shes had to move in with Joe Morelli because she keeps finding folks in her apartment!
And now that she's moved in with Morelli everyone is asking when the wedding is! YIKES! is about the sum of Stephanie response to that question! But trust me this book is a bucket of laughs! Its a good romp though the "burg" written in Ms Evanovich's familier style. This is a great book, definately worth the reading time!!

The first quarter of the book started really slow, but after about getting through the initial beginning, the story picked up. We find Stephanie our bounty hunter and Lula (bounty hunter in training) looking for Uncle Mo. We find Ranger still keeping tabs on Stephanie, as Lula thinks Ranger is a superhero, since no one knows where he lives or comes from. Of course we have Uncle Vinnie, Mom, Dad and Grandma Mazur. And last but not least, Joe Morelli. I am really enjoying the chemistry between Stephanie and Joe. I love their little game of cat and mouse that they play with each other. Chemistry is what has drawn me to this series. Stephanie has chemistry with all the main characters in the book and to me it's rare to see that with this many characters. This book is a great read, I have the next one on my bookshelf and can't wait to dig into it.

Stephanie Plum is a laugh out loud bounty hunter that is very reminescent of Barnie Fyfe in The Andy Griffin Show. She has the worst luck with cars, yet the best luck in stumbling across trouble. This time she is on the hunt for the owner of a candy store who everyone thinks is the sweetest, nicest guy around and that Stephanie is a terrible person for even attempting to bring him in on a silly charge like carrying concealed, which in Trenton, New Jersey seems to be a common thing. It isn't until bodies start showing up that Stephanie realizes something more is going on.
This particular novel is where the humor that is so commonly associated with Janet Evanovich starts to really take place as well as the on going flirtation for Joe Morelli-the cop, and Ranger-the bounty hunter. The plot gets good from here on out.
Is it worth buying?
After reading one and two, I rushed out to get every one of the books in the series. I was not disappointed in the least. It is a fun read. Don't expect heavy drama in this series though. The Stephanie Plum books are strictly for light reading. Each book leaves you wanting to read more.

She's bold, she's beautiful, she's ...a bounty hunter with orange hair?
Stephanie Plum, the out-of-work lingerie saleswoman, is back in Janet Evanovich's third novel, THREE TO GET DEADLY. We were first introduced to this unique character in the amazingly funny ONE FOR THE MONEY, a breakout novel about a woman who's forced to work for her cousin Vinnie's bail bondsman service. With the help of Ranger, a dark-clad bounty hunter who can vanish at will, and old flame detective Morelli, Stephanie continues to learn the ropes of the criminal world, all while dealing with strung-out prostitutes, crazy family members, and difficult vehicles.
In this novel, Stephanie is on the case of saintly candy-store owner Mo (or "peni$ nose" as one character likes to call him). Everyone seems to be against her, too. Mo is an upstanding citizen with ties to almost every family in Jersey. Unfortunately, he gets pulled over by an overly-excited cop and ticketed for carrying a concealed weapon. And when Vinnie supplies the bond, and Mo fails to appear in court, Stephanie goes after him.
While chasing after Mo, Stephanie has to deal with her latest vehicle, a Nissan pickup, that continually falls apart, forcing her back to the tank that is her father's Buick. She also tries to find a relationship with Morelli, only to have things foiled by murderers, her job, and a seriously bad hair day.
As the story winds down, Stephanie learns that Mo may not be so saintly and that people who've been shooting at her might also want Mo dead. The body count rises, most of whom are drug dealers. Is Mo a vigilante? Was that why Mo carried a concealed weapon?

Having fallen in love with this series, it is with great sadness I have to report that this installment isn't up to Mrs. Evanovich's normally breezy and whimsical style. Much of the comedy seemed forced (to me) and several pivotal scenes fell pretty flat; not at all what I'm used to from this excellent author. I found myself not really caring what happened next because the set-up was, again, a bit forced (if not cliche-ish).
Now, having given a few bruises to this book, I will say that Stephanie Plum fans will still probably eat it up. She's a vibrant character with so many foibles one can't help but "go along for the ride."
The biggest question would be, "Is it worth going on to the next book in the series?" I think so. I'm going to give it another try. Perhaps Mrs. Evanovich had unforseen issues with publication times, etc. I'm hoping that the next one will springboard me back to that old-style we were introduced to in ONE FOR THE MONEY. I pray ...

Janet Evanovich has done it again. Three to Get Deadly, begins as Stephanie Plum, ex-lingerie buyer turned bounty hunter is given the go to pick up Mo Bedemier. Uncle Mo, as he's known in "the burg", Stephanie's working class, Trenton neighborhood, owns an ice-cream parlor/candy store, has missed his court appearance and seems to have left town. Stephanie's on the case and is soon caught in the middle of anti-drug vigilantes, murdered men and porno films. This is another terrific ride through Trenton with Ms Evanovich's cast of unrivaled, wonderful, quirky characters and Stephanie gets lots of help from her mentor, Ranger and vice cop, Joe Morelli. The writing is witty, irreverent and down to earth, with dialogue that will have you laughing out loud. Though the mystery itself is a bit of a stretch, it doesn't matter, because spending time in Trenton, with Stephanie and company, is such a joy. Start with One for the Money and read all the books in this series. They will put a smile on your face.

Bounty Hunter Stephanie Plum is back to work, and in no time has a new FTA to track. This FTA isn't ordinary at all; it's Uncle Mo, the highly favored owner of an ice cream parlor. "Mo would NEVER do something like that!" the citizens say, but rising body count is beginning to contradict that idea in Stephanie's mind. Now she's in a mess with Mo's "fan club" (not to mention a man in a chicken suit), while on the search for the missing Mo.

An outstanding series! The last one "Two for the Dough" may not have been up to par with the first one, but the third makes up for that loss. Don't get me wrong, the second was still interesting, but it didn't make you laugh nearly as hard as this one did. I would HIGHLY reccommend you read this book, yet alone the whole series! I'm stoked to see what "Four to Score" has in store!

Stephaine Plum is back and this time she is trying to pick up the burg's favorite man, Uncle Mo. Mo owns the candy shop/ice cream parlor in the burg and everybody's favorite guy. Mo skipped his court appearance for his concealed weapons charge. What appears to be an easy pick up turns deadly as Stephanie is once again being blackmailed, shot at and threatened. What would a Plum book be without Morelli and Ranger in on the action? Morelli working in homicide and as dead drug dealers start turning up he also wants in on a piece of the action. Grandma Muzar isn't helping Stephanie this time but instead she has Lula, ex streetwalker now file clerk in Vinnie's office. Lula has declared herself a bounty hunter in training and she is here to help Stephanie at all costs, of course adding to the laughter.

No one does crime story qua humor better. Plum, an accidental bounty hunter, joins with an ex-hooker turned bounty hunter, an ex-special ops mercinary bounty hunter, and their boss, an apparently mob connected sex fiend, to bring in a candy store owner who has skipped bond on a traffic ticket. And it only gets more complicated as bodies begin to pile up, drug dealers disappear, and Plum, our heroine, repeatedly avoids death by mere millimeters.
To top it all off, this takes place in Trenton, New Jersey's capital, and its surrounding suburbs...not exactly a literary hot spot (are there any other books set in Trenton?)
Keeps you turning the pages (at least during those brief intervals when your eyes are not blinded by tears of laughter). Can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Good writing, but a certain style here, I want to say that this is a chick book, like a movie is a chick flick, this is a chick style mystery thriller/comedy.
That's not to say it's not good, just not my style. I had the same responce to Grafton and the other mystery writer, the one with the ME as the main character. Too soap opera for my tastes, but not bad writing, by any means.
Anyway I guess that leaves me with Ann Rule as the one woman writer that I keep reading over and over, she's good at what she does, writing about true crime, I guess when it comes to fiction the female perspective is probably more popular with women, or maybe it's just my tastes in fiction.
As for Evanovich's style, I can see why she is a very popular writer, I'm just not touched the same way.

RUN - don't walk to get this book and read it! Stay up late, skip work, don't cook or clean - whatever - just get this novel and read it. Just like all the others, Janet Evanovich does it again with the warm, hilarious characters! You can almost reach out and touch them they are so real and personable. I only wish someone would hurry up and do a movie of the series - it's that good. And I can "see" the cast come to light!
The crimes become secondary in this marvelous romp to bring the criminals to justice as Stephanie plies her trade as a bounty hunter. And sex appeal oozes as Ranger and Joe lend their hands and expertise to keep her out of trouble.
Get this book NOW and don't stop until it's finished.

This was a fun mystery. I found myself laughing out loud several times as I read the book. Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter and not one of the agency's top agents. She gets the mediocre assignments, only they don't always end up being mediocre to hunt down. She is assigned to hunt down Uncle Mo, the local ice-cream store owner, much beloved by the neighborhood. The people are mad because she is chasing him down and she says she's just doing her job. Through various antics that keep us all entertained, she does her job. A book that leaves you grinning when you finish just thinking about it. I would recommend it whole heartedly.

Three is a much better book than Two was, and I enjoyed it immensely. Stephanie is back and she's just as funny and endearing as ever. In this book she's on the track of a candy store salesman, and before she bags her man she turns up numerous dead bodies, and almost gets killed herself numerous times. We also get to see a lot of Ranger in this book, and that's a definite plus. Ranger is awesome. He's like a mysterious black panther that slips and in out of dangerous situations. Through it all Stepahnie manages to maintain her aplomb, and stays focused on her task - Find Mo the candy man, and bring him to justice!

This book, like most Janet Evanovich novels, was very funny and interesting. She always thinks of unique and weird endings for her books. Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter from Trenton, New Jersey, and Joe Morelli make a very good team in this book. Together, they are trying to find Mo Bedemier, an old man who runs and owns a well known candy store. He did not show up for his court appearance and it's Stephanie's job to find him and bring him in. However, while searching for Mo, they discover some things about him that nobody has ever known. Although I really enjoyed this book, I think I liked the first book the best.

Stephanie gets herself into another outrageous bounty hunting adventure in the burg of Trenton. She seeks out kindly old Ice Cream peddler, Uncle Mo, and attempts to train Lula on the finer points of the craft. Lula has her mind on driving cars and eating high calorie food, for the most part. Meanwhile, mysterious strangers threaten her to leave poor Mo alone. She might, except dead bodies keep popping up, piquing her curiosity. This humerous adventure gives plenty of Morelli and Ranger, but Grandma Mazur gets less airtime than in the first two. If you like humor mixed with mystery, Evanovich is your authoress.

I thought her first novel had a few interesting twists and, despite the excessive crudeness, was entertaining. The second book seemed to get a bit too trashy. I thought I would give her one more chance in case she turned the corner. I was disappointed and will move on to another author.
In an effort to keep people amused and laughing, she opts for shock value via crude language and raunchy characters instead of creativity and true wit. Furthermore, Three to Get Deadly crosses the line in too many ways. First, she downplays pedophilia. Next, she makes a pervert likeable and almost makes you feel sorry for him. She leads you into wanting to forgive the guy when his actions are deplorable. Plus she seems to justify vigilantism and trashes God and a church. I could list a few dozen other objectionable points - not just morally, but also from the perspective of entertainment and writing skill.
I think she started off with a good plot and an interesting idea in her first book and built some interesting characters. However, she overused phrases, (if I read "damned skippy" one more time I was going to throw the book across the room) used crudeness and trashy language to keep things going instead of using literary skill, and her content and characters went down hill. Why does every new character have to be so outlandish? Because it is easier to choose shock than to think through interesting character build up.
Save your money and read something of value.

Three to Get Deadly by Janet Evanovich is an excellent and exciting book. Janet Evanovich has an excellent style of writing and it is very fun and easy to read her books. In this book, Stephanie Plum, a New Jersey bounty hunter, is looking for a candystore owner named Mosses Bedimier. To all of the kids that visit his store, he is known as Uncle Mo. Stephanie is looking for Uncle Mo because a lot of people are dying and she thinks that Uncle Mo is behind it all. Stephanie has her friends Joe Morrelli and Ranger help her find Mo. Ranger is another bounty hunter and Joe is a cop. Stephanie needs to find Uncle Mo before more people die.

I took "Three" and "Four" on a cruise expecting two treats. Instead what I got from this one was pure boredom. Perhaps it is inevitable that a series becomes a matter of filling in the blanks. In this case, what started out with a bang has become a predictable succession of events. Sure, many of these are humorous but we all know by now that Stephanie will endure her parents, Grandma will act strange, Joe will flirt and Lula will holler. The series needs a little "oomph" to keep going. The story was also not one of the best.

Believe it or not a year ago I bought her newest book Hot Six in paperback started to read it but lost interest and read Eve Dallas's book, finished it had nothing else to read and went back to read Hot Six, loved it. Now I am starting backwards and just finished reading Three to get Deadly, love this book to. Stephanie is totally the opposite of Eve and Roarke and I really enjoy reading these two types of detective series. I love love Lulu, Ranger, and all the other crazy people and Stephanie solves not by reasoning but totally bumbling into and solving the case. I am going to continue to read all her books, and you should to. This refers to the paperback book of this series.

This was a fabulous adventure/mystery!! As I read each book in the Stephanie Plum series, I cannot seem to get enough! Everytime one ends I am ready for the next one and the next one! This time, though, it is not Grandma Mazur that steals the show, but Lula, the ex-prostitute friend of Stephanie's. She is crazy and scarey and a total blast!! We even get to meet Stephanie's cheater of an ex-husband in this part of the series. And the heat between Joe and Stephanie gets hotter and better with each book and this one is no exception. Read it!! You'll love it!!

This book was very funny. I enjoyed reading it a lot. This book took place in Trenton, New Jersey. It is about a a bountey hunter name Stephanie Plum. Her job is to find a candy shop owner named Mo and bring him in because he did not come to his court appearance. I like this book because of the characters. I think the characters in this story are hilarious. I find myself laughing all the time while reading this book. I like this book better than the first two books in the series. If you read this book you will love it. This book contains adult content.

Janet Evanovich's novel Three To Get Deadly is so light and frothy (aka unsubstantial) I practically forgot about before I finished reading it. I got a few laughs from Lula but her main character is too incompetent and inane to be funny. Joan Hesse, Gillian Roberts and Sharon McCrumb are much funnier and have other delights as well ie. poignant insights, reasoning ability etc. I might read another one of these if I'm in deperate need of total fantasy but she is not the best at what she does. This book is readable but ultimately it's just another throwaway.

At times this is lol funny! I grew up in NJ, although further north but still I've got the characters, the scenes, the scenery. And there see passages that had me cracking up, I'm sure because I can relate to the absurdity. Looking forward to #4!

I liked this one alot better than "Two for the Dough" I just love the humor.
While the berg's candy man (Uncle Mo), has the Berg convinced he's a flawless and perfect upstanding citzen. Stephanie is finding skeletons in the not so perfect closet of Uncle Mo. While trying to find the bail jumping candy man, Stephanie as always is confronted with quick, simple captures that never are. Why is Uncle Mo running? What is he hiding in his closet?
And poor Stephanie, drawn to 2 incredibly sexy guys, what to do?
I like Ranger, but Ranger is an on the edge kind of guy, I don't think that Stephanie is, Morelli is more suited for her. Regardless, the chemistry bewteen Stephanie and Ranger is hot and tempting, its fun to watch her squirm in the presence of both men and all of that testosterone.

The third book of the series presents Stephanie Plum with the daunting task of apprehending the local neighborhood saint, Uncle Mo. Everyone in the Burg loves Mo, he is the gentle old man who sells ice cream, but when he fails to show for his court appearance its down to Stephanie Plum to bring him in.
Am not going to spoil the book, its classic Stephanie Plum stuff, she gets in awkward situations, finds out a lot more then she should about people and through it all she makes us laugh till it hurts.

Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter extraordinaire? Well, not exactly one of the top in her chosen profession, Stephanie Plum is in way over her Jersey hair! The neighborhood candy store owner, Uncle Mo, is a "failure to appear" in court on a concealed carry charge. When Stephanie goes to take him in, Uncle Mo is missing. Dead bodies however, seem to be springing up everywhere!! With it's quirky and kinky characters and it's never-fail humor Janet Evanovich has another terrific read to her many credits!!!

The third book in the series, this book continues the tale of Stephanie plum and her hijinks as one of the worst, and most luck, bounty hunters ever. This series is simply hysterical. While not quite as good as its predecessor, it is still a good showing. While all her books focus on both the case and her personal life, this one veers more towards the case then her life, unfortunately. While the cases are decent mysteries, its her life that is so funny and interesting.

I am not usually a mystery or thriller reader. In fact, I like historical fiction. But I just love reading about Stephanie Plum. I've already preordered High Five. This one is not quite as good as One for the Money, but still a wonderful read. It's entertaining, funny, and keeps you guessing as to who will be found dead next, where Uncle Mo is, and will Stephanie ever get her truck back or is she doomed to ride about in the Buick forever. Don't miss any of this series of books. They are great!

This time Stephanie is out to find "Uncle Mo" the well loved neighborhood candy seller. When the bodies of local drug dealers start turning up Mo is the main suspect. The book takes an interesting turn and it appears that Mo is up to a whole lot more than just selling candy.

Don't waste money on CD read by Lori Petty. I hate being critical of people but her voice is flat and extremely hard to listen to. Disappointing. The 'listen to' version the store has is not Lori Petty. It sounds like C.J.Critt so it's deceiving. This version under publisher (Encore) is Lori Petty. I bought Two for the Dough and Three to Get Deadly audio CD's under this publisher (front cover shows price as 9.95). Price seemed OK for abridged versions but immediately was put off by the narrator. Couldn't finish listening to them. I tried to give them to my sister and she gave them right back saying how awful it was. Find the CD version read by C.J.Critt if you can. Huge difference.

Having just finished this book, I found it to be even funnier than the first two. I find that the mystery takes a back seat to the characters in the books. This would make a really funny movie!
Stephanie has the worst luck with cars, has a family that causes her to have twitches in her eyes, and has a sometimes partner who used to be a prostitute. Very funny, very real characters, even though the situations they get into are a bit of a stretch.

All the Stephanie Plum novels I've read so far are funny, vibrant and full of spunk.
Here's a tiny slice of the book, I found it so funny, I just had to write it down.
Stephanie is meeting the first boyfriend her grandmother has picked up...
"Fred looked to be about three hundred years old. Gravity had pulled the skin from the top of his head down to his neck, and Fred had tucked it into his shirt collar." (page 227)

Stephanie's mission is to hunt down Uncle Mo, a beloved candy-store owner (with a very interesting secret life) and cope with the drug dealers and corpses that are ending up with parts missing. It's hilarious to watch everyone's reaction whenever Stephanie reveals who it is she's after "but he's never done anything wrong!" Ex-hooker Lula, whom we met in One for the Money is also working for Vinnie now, and she "helps" Stephanie and Joe Morelli hunt down their man.

Janet Evanovich has delivered another great Stephanie Plum book in even more humorous and wacky situations. Hard to put down, this laugh-out-loud-until-tears-run-down-your-face book has a character that somehow manages to survive dead bodies, bad hair, dead bodies, her grandmother, bombs, a healthy libido, and more dead bodies as she searches for local favorite turned fugitive Uncle Mo. Even better than the first two in this series. Very fun to read.

While Lulu was introduced in the last book, her role is expanded here as she joins the firm and tags along with Stephanie. The entire book is a hoot.

Janet Evanovitch creates a mystery worthy of an imperfect heroine. Stephanie Plum is equals parts gutsy, reckless, and lucky. I can usually predict the solution to a mystery/ detective novel, but this ending kid of comes out of left field. The fact that Stephanie messes up more than succeeds makes her relatable and makes the reader root for her to prevail. This is a good read in a fun series.

I think the writing has some good qualities but is pretty heavy on quips, is pretty crude and tries too hard to be funny. I'm not so crazy about the characters either. I love the Stephanie Plum books. I must say that I have listened to a lot of them on audio format narrated by Lorelei King. It was painful to listen to this version after Lorelei's. This is why I only give it three stars. Not for the plot but for the narration, the plot I would give 5 stars. Beware though this is abridged, which I didn't know when I purchased it. I recommend to skip this audio and read the book instead. The plot was fun and typical Stephanie Plum insanity ensues.
