This book was really inspiring. If anyone is unsure about reading this book, I would encourage them to read it. One of my friends (who surfs) told me about this book. She said that this book inspired her to get back in the water after a surfing accident. All in all, it's a great read for kids, an inspirational look at life for teens, and a heartwarming true story for adults. Two thumbs up!!!!

I was fascinated by this story. Bethany's strength and faith shine through. The writing is that of a teenager telling a story, not an experienced, professional author. It makes the book even more believable and touching. I would definitely recommend!

This is the story of Bethany Hamilton, a surfer who lost her arm to a shark at the age of 13, and her struggle to return to competitive surfing. This story is told in her own words and has heavy Evangelical Christian overtones, which didn’t bother me as much as they normally would have given the inspirational nature of the story itself. This book is written for a younger audience, but I think people of all ages could benefit from the positive attitude and determination of it’s central character, and the themes expressed throughout about overcoming adversity and trying not to worry about things you can’t control. Inspiring story of triumph!

This book was mainly devoted to bringing up all of the tough points of being a teenager, and how to make it through these times with Christ. I found it very inspirational and motivating because on each page, there was a Bible verse that coincided with the topic at hand. It gets repetitive at times, but it's definitely worth a read. It will inspire you to become a better Christian and a better person.

This book is so inspiring. It truly shows Bethany Hamilton's determination and faith and trust in Jesus and God. It is breathtaking this book! I think that people of all ages will enjoy this book! It is just amazing to here about her story and to read about how she coped with it and to learn about the story of her life!

Enjoyed such a personal insight, the self determination and drive and what makes for a successful young athlete at this world competitive level - focus, fitness, family and faith. Very brave and strong, an inspiration.

I bought this for my eleven-year-old sister, whose role model is Bethany Hamilton. The devotions are brief and do not go very in-depth, even though it's listed as a book for young teens. However, it's written with a friendly, conversational tone that is easy to understand. The length of each devotion is beneficial for rushed mornings, but I was disappointed by the lack of depth.

This book was very good and the fact Bethany wrote it by herself makes it even more powerful because it isn't just some other person giving their thoughts it is from someone who experienced everything in the book

Purchased the book for my 11year old, who hates to read. She loved the movie so I thought it was worth a shot. She's almost done with it!!! No begging, no pleading & she's telling me everything she has read and what is different from the movie. My older daughter wants to read it next. So happy I bought the book, I think it will leave a lasting impression.

After watching the movie, Soul Surfer" I wanted to get the book and here Bethany's own words. Her story is even more amazing and inspirational in written form as it was as a movie. It shows what true faith in God can do. I also suggest her mother's book,"Raising a Soul Surfer." It is equally inspirational.

This is a true inspiring story. Her faith in Christ is amazing and the love and support from her family and friends is great. She is a very special person from what I read about her. She inspires people with her story and perseverance to live life.
