This is an excellent read for anyone wishing to rapidly and effectively improve their marksmanship skills. Be sure to check out his videos on YouTube for an even better experience. Don't be surprised if some of the principals outlined here migrate out into how you approach building & improving other skills.

Chris is an excellent teacher who preaches the fundamentals. Based on some other reviews it seems like people were expecting some secret techniques. As with all things in life, excellence is not based on some secret method but instead on applying the fundamentals with precision from years of training. I would highly recommend this book to all shooters even those with a lot of experience. Sometimes it is very important to get back to ground level.

As a soldier I struggled with marksmanship, and was labeled a “bad shot”. In this book Chris’s explanations caused an epiphany and I went from being a “bad shot” to expert in both rifle and pistol. This book is a “must have” if you are a shooter.

This is an outstanding book. Unfortunately I loaned it out and I probably won't see it again. I will definitely order another one. My shooting did indeed improve immediately, and I've been shooting a long time. The Author is also great, if you e-mail him, you will get an answer. I highly recommend this for the anyone.

Chris Sajnog, keeps to the KISS principle, yet he explains clearly why he has chosen each method in placing a bullet in the bullseye, every single time you squeeze the trigger. These principles have passed muster on the battlefield and that is all I need to keep myself plugged in to Mr. Sajnog teachings.

This book is the definitive work for combat pistol shooting. The concepts are simple. With patience and practice I have become a better shooter. With more patience and practice I am confident that I will become an even better shooter.

Well written with a perspective on the physical as well as the mental aspect of shooting. I also liked the fact that a link to video content was provided in the book. The video content provide demonstrations of the techniques described in the book.

good overall instruction, as a new shooter it emphasizes a lot of fundamentals. Also like the links to supporting videos. I could see how an experienced shooter might not gain as much from it - but I think it has several tips to make beginning and still learning shooters better.

This book contains refreshing perspectives on shooting from a guy who has been there and done that. I've been shooting for 35 years and have seen so many "flavor of the week" techniques and trained in various styles that I got some incorrect information and developed some bad habits along the way. Chris's perspectives and reasoning are spot on. I have been able to get back on track by getting back to basics and then training with a plan and being able to achieve concrete goals to become a better shooter. I will keep this book handy and refer back.

Good stuff. Can't wait for the next book.

This is a great training aid and reference for shooters at any level. I especially recommend it for newbies, it will help teach good habits and basic fundamentals, instead of wasting time, and ammo, at the range. This is a no nonsense approach to practical shooting. n not competition shooting.

Excellent techniques and tips. I found Sajnog's book as a great accompaniment to my first attempts at shooting. Dry Fire practice was essential and helped me develop my abilities. The chapters, for me, were well written and very helpful

This book was great. Had awesome videos too. Gave me some insights into shooting I didn't know about, and I have been shooting all my life with hunting. I know any serious shooter would benefit from this book, even if in just a small way.

Good book to reinforce the fundamentals. Actually tightened up my hand gun groups. If you want a "go fast, wizz bang, super shooter" book, move along. If you want a well written book to either build, rebuild, or enforce good fundamentals then "pull the trigger" on this book. You won't be disappointed.

Covers all aspects of shooting from pistols to carbines in an easy to read, easy to understand format that is perfect for a newcomer to tactical or defensive shooting. The information provided is fundamental in nature but detailed enough to to thoroughly explain the concepts.

Great information from a Navy SEAL sniper instructor. Sajnog's presentation is clear, concise and useful for beginners and veteran shooters alike. The Kindle version is a steal at $2.99 and if you sign up for the author's newsletter you will receive free videos demonstrating some of the concepts presented in the book. Definitely well worth the price and highly recommended.

This is a great book that focuses on the fundamentals. Until you master these concepts, there's no point in seeking out a higher level of training. I found this material cut straight to what was required without the fluff. The videos were well put together and easy to follow.

Each video continues to simplify each technique and is very useful. The video on finger position on the trigger was great and cleared up a lot of miss information that I have heard. Thanks for all the great info!

Was very impressed with the common sense approach to shooting, The basics the basics the basics. Learn them live them and you will be a much improved shooter in this book tells you exactly how very much worth the time and money. I for one am very glad I bought it, I am learning the mistakes I learned over 50 years of shooting.

Although I was skeptical of any "shooting book", I am really quite impressed with this book and more with the author's ability to convey. It will make some great Christmas gifts for shooters of any level.

While these principles are common sense, that doesn't mean you (or I) are already doing them! Practical; simple; well articulated and concise; I think it's a gem. I've already changed a few things at the range... And in dry weapons manipulation at the house!

Great Book. Chris is one of the best instructors I have read, and I've read a few. Even had one-on-one with some instructors that I though were excellent but now I might not ever use again. Highly recommended reading.

This book has improved my skills more than any reading material or video I have ever read or seen in the past. His conversational style of writing and blunt observations and tips have made a huge difference. I got so many questions answered and am not able to shoot confidently and accurately with both eyes open. Before this book I always saw double. After following his tricks and tips, I can now focus on the front sight and see only one target. Sight refinement and picture are vastly improved. And my dry firing exercises are now much more productive.

As Chris mentioned his favorite saying, "do the common things uncommonly well" that is the basis of becoming great in anything including shooting. An important aspect which I can take away from the book is the chapter on front sight focus, which has helped me a lot.

The going back to fundamentals has improved my accuracy, stance, mindset, and confidence in my skills and the use of my personal defensive systems. This book has re-focused my whole body mechanics and have almost instantly seen the results including games where i stand up or assume the prone position and it has improved both simulations and actual range practice.

Thank you Chris keep up the great work.

Chris explains in layman's terms the basic how to's of shooting. After reading this book and making some adjustments to my already firearms knowledge I have become a better shooter in a very short time. I definitely recommend this book to anyone trying to improve their skill set at shooting. No matter what skill level you're currently at you're bound to find nuggets in here to add to your toolbox of shooting.

A very well written book. Covers many details and techniques to become an effective shooter. It also allows you to analyze your current technique and improve it. And he tells it like it is: there is no magic bullet for effective shooting, it takes lots of hard work.

John here! I'm relatively new to pistol shooting. Have done more than a fair amount of research as well as having taken great course sessions at Sig Sauer Academy in Epping, NH. Sajnog's book, How to Shoot Like a Navy Seal, proved to be a great find for me. The book and the complementary videos are direct, easy to understand, and effective instructional tools. I highly recommend this book.

All the fundamentals of combat marksmanship are covered concisely and cleanly. I have a respect for the author's resume and think he deserves an open mind where the his approach deviates from what I was taught, and am going to experiment with some of the techniques he espouses just to see if they improve my performance. If they don't, I'll go back to what I've been doing, as I'm an above-avg shooter. If they help me get to the next level- even better!

I definitely agree that a training regimen that is focused on your weaknesses is most effective, and this book helped me to mentally examine my own shooting practice for what my major weaknesses are (front sight- FOLLOW THROUGH!)

One Star off for the videos- which are a GREAT idea as a supplementary resource, but very poorly done.

First- if you're doing a video on 3 different kneeling positions, maybe, just MAYBE we should be able to see your legs! I almost laughed that one was so bad.

Also- though I know the author has spent much of his life trying to blend in to his environment, whoever thought the black shirt on black background was a good idea was... Shall we say, misinformed. A little contrast would have provided clarity in this case.

Chris, I work in Hollywood- drop me a line when you want high quality instructional videos. I'll trade you for some private instruction.
