The stories are a bit predictable and typical bonnet book but they were enjoyable to read. The Christmas quilt is a common thread through three generations of women. My favorite was the last one where Rosanna had heartache and decision to make on who to marry. The love for her deaf sister was evident and played a part in her decision. This book was written by three generations of Brunstetter women . I received a copy from Barbour house and was under no obligation to give a review

Three beautiful Amish stories intertwined through a Christmas quilt passed down through three generations. Each story shows how to overcome death to love again, martial strife and fear of new love.

I was very impressed with debut author, Richelle Brunstetter. She has her grandmother's storytelling gift. I'm excited to see how she progresses.

This is the perfect book to give as a present for fans of Amish romance. The stories are short enough to read one story in a sitting. The progression from story to story is seamless. Your heart will be light and airy when you finish the book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Barbour Publishing for an ARC to read and provide a review based on my own honest opinion.

I enjoyed these stories! I liked that we had three short books together in one book that was about three generations. The quilt is passed down through the generations. The three women face very different challenges in their lives, but the quilt and the verse on it is an encouragement to them all.

Because the stories are shorter than a typical Brunstetter book, there is not a lot of depth as you may be used to. The stories are told, but there is not a lot of "extra."

It makes a nice book to read around the holidays if you are looking for something to read in the coming months.

I received this book for my review from the Clippity Clop Club.

A beautiful story written by three generations of writers about the quilt, so it is a different approach to writing as well. A heartfelt story that got my attention from the very first, this book is one that could easily be given along with a quilt at Christmastime to hopefully instill the value of the quilt and how it can bring comfort and healing as well as warmth as it is passed down from generation to generation. As a quilter, I viewed this story as one that gave opportunity to see how a quilt can be loved and cherished as it is used through the years.

I was really excited when I first heard about this book. I mean, symbolically, what better than three generations of women writing about three generations of women? Three generations of love and faith. I think I've reached a situation where anticipation clouded reality. I liked this book but I didn't fall in love with it. I fell in love with the story, the characters, and the promise of love for generations. There were some elements that I felt lacking and missing though, and that kinda breaks my heart. This review is so hard to write for many different reasons.

Let's break the three stories down. In the first story I fell in love with Louella and Atlee. It took me a touch off guard when I realized that the quilt originated with Atlee's first wife, a dear friend of Louella. I feel, however, that this story missed opportunities to build conflict. Both internal conflict within the characters but also the resolution of those conflicts through faith. This book set an amazing stage for the following two stories but it just wasn't a bulls-eye. Jean's story of Karen and Seth was rich with conflict that was handled really well. So much of the conflict set the stage for the following story but also showed the reality of working through the process when a child has a handicap. However, there was so much 'filler' that didn't do much to progress the story along but felt more to fill space. The story also jumped through time awkwardly without filling in enough of the gaps. I feel like the biggest missed opportunity for this story was the passing of the quilt. The quilt was it's own role, it's own character really, but there was opportunity for the quilt to find it's home that was missed. Richelle's story embraced the theme of this book in ways the other two weren't in a position to do so. First, before I even go there, I LOVED the story of the runaway groom! You don't see that portrayed in books or movies much, it's always the stereotypical runaway bride. Richelle built and developed characters with depth and flaws and pulled in the reliance of faith that is very reminiscent of her grandmother's earlier work. This story flowed so easily with developed story-line and even depth of conflict and resolution that is hard to pull off in a novella length story. This story held the promise of the quilt. This story held the promise of faith and love and family and future and God. There was one little thing I noticed that I was shocked when Kristin and I were comparing notes that she didn't catch. When John went to talk with Roseanna about why he ran there was the big set up that despite the cold and snow he chose to walk. After their conversation he walked back to his buggy?!? Sometimes it's the little things and I usually miss those. That little story edit glitch did not however affect my rating of this book.

This collection of intertwined stories of generations of love is one that I will gladly re-read and am happy that I own as part of my collection. It's a great book for anyone who cherishes family, love, and a life built in faith through the easy and the difficult. It is not just a holiday read and while centered on Christmas is a book that can bring heartwarming and joy at any time of year.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Barbour Books and NetGalley. I was not compensated for this review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. I was not required to write a positive review.

Three generations of Brunstetter authors write novellas of three generations of women who are bound together by the Beloved Christmas Quilt. The Quilt is a source of comfort and brings joy to each owner in this sweet Amish Christmas Collection. It will make you smile and shed a few tears as the characters are so identifiable with real hurts and triumphs. A great way to start the holiday season with stories of faith and trusting in God during the hardships of life. Each author does a great job, but Wanda’s contribution was my favorite.

I rec. this book from Barbour Publishing for a review. I love the thought behind this book. The continuing story is like visiting with family as you read through and watch them grow and change. Wanda wrote the first story, and as usual, it is excellent. She uses her knowledge of the amish to draw you in to the story. You find joy in their triumphs, and ache at their sadness and frustrations. The second story was the weaker one. The writing not as well done, but still, an interesting storyline, as we continue with the family. The final story, written by Wandas granddaughter is excellent, almost on par with Wandas. You love the mild drama, and rejoice in the end. This book shows much of the inner-workings of amish life, showcases the best of faith, and yet shows how very "normal" they are. I do recommend this, and any further collaborations with Brunstetters family...its a very enjoyable read.

How wonderful that is.
A Christmas Quilt is handed down to three generations.
Each story tells of the comfort it gave to each women during her struggling times.

Kept my interests high.

The Beloved Christmas Quilt by Wanda Brunstetter is a wonderful Christmas book that includes 3 stories. It is a series of stories that follow a special quilt that is being handed down from generation to generation. In keeping with a traditional Brunstetter book, all of them have a sweet element of Amish romance. In them, I saw a picture of new love, giving not selfishly but with others in mind, and sometimes what you think is the answer is not the answer at all.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This faith-filled story centers around a quilt with Psalm 31:3 embroidered into it. It's handed down through the generations to the oldest daughter. The story is actually 3 in 1 and is written by 3 different authors. The first and third stories were the most engaging, although it's my opinion that this book doesn't live up to the usual quality of Wanda Brunstetter. Follow the generations of 3 Amish women to see their struggles and how they deal with them.

Even though it was not really a Christmasy book, I really enjoyed The Beloved Christmas Quilt by Wanda Brunstetter, Jean Brunstetter and Richelle Brunstetter. The first story held my interest with engaging characters and a good storyline. The second story was not my favorite. It seemed very repetitive and wordy with detailed descriptions of things that had no apparent relevance to the story. The last story was great especially for a first published work. Really fun concept for mother, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter authors to write together.

Wanda Brunstetter ,along with her daughter-in-law, Jean Brunstetter, and granddaughter, Richelle Brunstetter, have written 3 stories all put into one book about 3 generations of one family. As Wanda starts the story with Luella, taking care of her dear friend, Dena through her terminal illness, also caring for Dena's family,The Story continues on through 3 generations. I found this to be a very good story, and enjoyed reading it. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

The Beloved Christmas Quilt: Three stories of Family, Romance and Amish Faith by Wanda E. Brunstetter, Jean B. Brunstetter and Richelle Lynn Brunstetter. We get to see how one quilt with a Psalm 31:3 embroidered on the back helps and guides three generations. Luella’s Promise by Wanda E. Brunstetter is set in Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania. Luella Ebersol was hired by Atlee Zook to care for his dying wife, Dena Zook and young son, Daryl. Before Dena passes away, she gifts Luella with a special quilt that Dena and Atlee received as a Christmas gift from Dena’s mum the first year they were married. It is a quilt that is to pass from mother to daughter. After Dena’s passing, Luella continues to work for Atlee and care for little Daryl. Slowly the pair begin to care for each other, but Luella’s parents are not pleased with the pairing (age difference). Without her parents blessing, Atlee and Luella cannot have a future together. Is there a chance for them to have a happily ever after?

Karen’s Gift by Jean Brunstetter takes us to Lykens, Pennsylvania. Karen and Seth Allgyer moved to Lykens two years prior to get away from the commercialized Paradise. Karen misses her family especially now with newborn, Nancy Anne in the house along with her other daughters, Roseanna and Mary. Karen is worried about Nancy Anne who was born early and is afraid the little girl might suffer from the effects of the German measles Karen had while pregnant. Seth is having trouble at work with a co-worker and he cannot handle any more stressful news. How will the family cope during this worrying time?

Roseanna’s Groom is by Wanda Brunstetter’s granddaughter, Richelle Lynn Brunstetter (her first published story). Roseanna Allgyer is marrying John Beiler. She is excited and nervous to start her new life with the man she loves. They are standing before the Bishop while he discusses their responsibilities when John suddenly flees. Roseanna is hurt and confused. John goes away, and old beau, Mark returns to town wishing to court Roseanna again. Roseanna is afraid to trust another man with her heart. What choice will Roseanna make?

The Beloved Christmas Quilt contains three sweet stories. I liked how we get to experience three generations of the family. It was nice that the characters from Luella’s Promise are in all three tales. My favorite one is Luella’s Promise. It is well-written, good pace, and engaging characters. I like the messages or themes in the novellas. They include friendship, power of prayer, kindness, compassion, overcoming adversity, and following God’s path for your life. My rating for The Beloved Christmas Quilt is 4 out of 5 stars. Roseanna’s Groom is a nice story and for Richelle Brunstetter’s first published work, she did a good job. Karen’s Gift, though, was not as enjoyable. I was not fully engaged by this short story. It lacked the nice, easy writing style that readers prefer (and we get from Wanda Brunstetter). The Beloved Christmas Quilt has three inspiring, romantic stories that will leave you with a warm feeling in your heart.

This was a very sweet book of three generations of Amish women, written by three generations of authors. It was a very enjoyable read as they each had their own story of hope, family, and faith. The highlights for me were, the reason the quilt was given to Luella, the passing down of the quilt, and the faith all three of these women had. My favorite story was the last one as it displayed a great amount of faith overcoming this obstacle. I would love to say my faith was this strong but this was a big obstacle!! It shows sometimes things don't go as planned but God has a plan. I really admired how the story was written and the outcome. Three stories of three Amish women and a beloved Christmas quilt make up this collection. If you're into stories about every day Amish life, you'll probably enjoy this book. I would have liked a little more excitement, but I think the authors did a good job of connecting the families, their faith, and the passing of the quilt from one family to another.

THE BELOVED CHRISTMAS QUILT
Three generations of Brunsetters have blended and written a beautiful story of three generations. The giving of a Quilt , to pass down to the oldest for three generations. Not only for comfort and warmth, but to inspire one each day with the scripture on the back. Looking forward to more by these three, the stories and thoughts blended very well. Given ARC by Net Galley for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

Three generations of a family are tied together by a Christmas quilt and their faith. Each story has themes of uncertainty as to how to handle a problem, prayer, and, eventually, resolution. The bible quotation on the back of the quilt is apt for all. To make this book even more special, the novellas were written by three generations of Brunstetter women! Although I prefer a longer novel, the novella format seems ideal for our busy lives at Christmas time.

I really enjoyed the first story , but didn't really care for the last two.. It was nice how each story was about the same family , and the beloved Christmas quilt . I thought that each story would have more of a Christmas time focus , and was disappointed that it didn't center on that theme. Great book that follows 3 generations and a beloved quilt written by 3 generations of Brunstetter women, Wanda, her daughter Jean and Granddaughter Richelle's stories interweave and each adds to the previous story, Found when finished I wanted to hear more of this loved quilts journey and the lives it blesses as Luella, Karen and Roseanns each learns the meaning of Psalm 31:3 to their own life.
Psalm 31:3 "For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me"

I was anxious to read “The Beloved Christmas Quilt” by Wanda, Jean and Richelle Brunstetter for the Barbour Review Crew. I love the topics and looked forward to reading more from the Brunstetters.

I’m sorry to say that I was very disappointed in this book. I thought the story premises were very good and would be great to read. However, I thought each book depended mostly on the mundane daily life of the characters. More to the point, each book consisted mostly of conversations about things that would be talked about in a normal family. I did get that there were problems disclosed, discussed, and solved at the end, but I got really tired of reading who said what. I’m sorry that I cannot give the great review I was expecting to give, but I have to be honest. This book was a disappointment to me in many ways.

The writing was a bit amateurish and simple. The stories seemed to lack depth; very everyday happenings got to be a bit dragged out. However, it may be a good read for total relaxation and the recipe at the end of each story was wonderful.

I'd forgotten that I don't like Wanda Brunstetter's books because they just end and that's it, or you have to buy another one to find out what's next. I fell for it again with the Christmas Quilt. It just ends like a sentence that's not complete. No more of her books for me
