My ten year old daughter writes:

"The story concept has a lot of mystery to it's meaning. The fact that the 12yr old ghost try's to come back to life made it all the more scary and exciting. It also shows you that no body is perfect all the time and that good will all ways rise above the bad. I recommend this story to young readers that love exciting, adventures, scary mysteries."

Hahn gives her audience credit for intelligence, while weaving an engaging and creepy suspensful plot. Homage to Jane Eyre, Poe and Charles Dickens. "Critchfield Hall" will totally envelope mature elementary age girls. Highly recommended.

Great read for ten to thirteen year olds. Perfectly creepy but not the book that will give you nightmares. The author describes everything so well. The story has a great and happy ending, but the book is sad throughout. I recommend this book to all who enjoy a great creepy story.

The young orphan Florence Crutchfield finds that she has relatives at CruthchField Hall.
A nice great uncle Thomas and a mean great aunt Eugenie, but best of all a boy cousin James
and worst of all a dead cousin the ghost Sophia.
In the haunting of Florence there is a deadly element of sibling rivalry.
I think maybe not enough is made of the midsummers and midwinter
traditions of the English, but I thought the short novel
was entertaining.
