I really enjoyed listening to this story I thought it was a interesting read with humor, drama and passion. I doubt many people have worse luck than Lady Eleanor it does seem at every turn someone is one step ahead of her make it hard to believe anything she said. She is holding all her cards close to her chest not giving out much information. She has so much to give the right man and all she asks for return is to be respect, cared for and honored. She isn't interested in love just want a man that will not abuse her and trust her. Is that to much to much to ask for? It does seem so when you live in a world where man rule and show no respect to women they are for one thing only and can do with their women as they see fit. They are mean as they use, abuse and beat the women they marry all wanting one thing at this time she has been unable to give. You might say her heart you would be wrong for they have no desire for that they want something much bigger and are willing to fight to take her and keep her. That is until one night when she walks in the snow and finds 3 sisters who want her help to get back at their lord brother. Pranks lead to danger as one man is taken in and weds a lady he does not know why another come to take her away any way he can.

Lady Eleanor I thought was sweet but it does seem the whole world as turned against her. She has been abused and will not take give of herself easy until Alexander shows her how a man should treat a women. She still does not take things as face value for she has seen how sweet and kind men can be when they want something. She knows they will turn on you on a dime when things do not go their way. She is scared that he will turn on her if she gives him the truth he seeks. This causing trouble for them and makes her look guilty at every turn. Can she learn to trust and give what he needs before time runs out and all is lost?

Alexander is a man of honor who lives for his family. Times are hard and he does the best he can without giving away just how poor they truly are. When he meets Eleanor he is taken in he see that she is not trusting and has been abused. He wants to make her smile give her a little happiness. His sisters have a plan for him which he knows nothing about until the deed is done and he has little choice but to go along with it. On the day of their wedding he learns so much about her and her lies. He cannot abide by lies and goes to annul their marriage. Eleanor sees things differently as she puts a plan into action to keep the marriage intact. Alexander works towards finding the truth but it might be to late for there is evil all around who is willing to die for the hand of Lady Eleanor.

Saskia Maarleveld does a wonderful job of narration her many voices are clear and strong. You have no trouble knowing who is talking as she takes you on a wonderful tale the author has wrote. There are no background noises nor any breaks it is all even tone each character is easy to understand and each voice is different. Ms. Maarleveld brings so much to this audio her tones and voice you have no trouble knowing what each characters are feeling. You can hear the sadness and laughter as she uses her voice to bring this story alive. Her tones are even, smooth and her voice is a joy to listen to. This is the first time I have listen to this narrator and I look forward to listening to more from her. I love her accent it brings more to the audio as she takes you back in time to a world you know little about. Outstanding listen.

This is the first time I have read/listen to anything by Ms. Delacroix. I found this story to be a delight. She has wonderful characters that you will fall in love with as she gives you a wonderfully captivating listen. There is drama as one women tries to find a safe haven. She gives you sadness that will break your heart and laughter that you will find delightful. The author gives you a compelling store which has adventure, a few thrills and even a chill that you will say OH NO please let this turn out right. She does give you a wonderful HEA but first these characters must fight to stay alive. Here characters you will love as they work their way through trying times. The supporting characters will keep you laughing as each woman are strong and will have their due. The author writes in a style that pulls you in as you feel each emotion of these characters and all they go through. I really enjoyed this book and feel most that like this time in history will enjoy it.

I have looked forward to seeing Alexander find his true love, and I did hope that his two sisters that he meddled with in their love lives got a bit of vengeance, too.  I have to say the way it all played out was interesting, entertaining, and enjoyable.  It had the emotional tension I like in romances; the couple definitely had a lot to work through before they could be happy.  The story Eleanor tells about her first husband and what he did to her horse was the most heartbreaking moment in the story, but it was also the moment the couple truly connected with no more doubts or fears. I enjoyed their story, it did have some slow moments, but overall I enjoyed their adventure and their love story.

Claire Delacroix beautifully continues the Jewels of Kinfairlie series with the recent named Laird of Kinfairlie’s love story. Featuring lies, deception, deceit and subterfuge she magically takes me back into the far past with a narrative and dialogue that hinted of the Highlands, with characters so richly developed they have no trouble appearing in my minds eye and backdrops so period perfect I can almost smell the strewing herbs placed on the floor of Kinfairlie keep and the sweet savory scent of the majestic steeds in their stables. Her stars are quite the star-crossed medieval couple and with baited breath and nail-biting angst I continually waited for the inevitable doomed other shoe to fall and was pleasantly rewarded for all my anxiety. The Snow White Bride is book three in the Jewels of Kinfairlie series and is now available in all formats.

The audible edition is narrated by the mesmerizing lyrical voice of the sensational Saskia Maarleveld whose vocal range perfectly portrayed each and every character from impish young women and children to old men, old crones and adult male warriors and dastardly foes. And whose familiarity of Claire’s tales and characters only increases her brilliant narrations.

The five Lammegeier sisters quite vexed with their interfering brother the Laird decide to play a trick on him when their keep is visited by a beautiful stranger on Christmas Eve.
Recently widowed for the second time Eleanor Douglas escapes her deceased husband’s family and a dire situation and wanders unexpectedly into the Christmas Eve celebration of Kinfairlie Keep. After meeting the Laird’s sisters she decides this is where she’ll seek sanctuary and agrees to participate in a rouse they’ve concocted. And after a night filled with practical jokes and devilment is satisfied to find herself married to the Laird. Now she just has to concoct a way to keep him.
Alexander Lammegeier is a reluctant and perhaps poor replacement for his father as Laird. There is much to worry about at this festive time of year with the coffers nearly empty and still three unwed sisters to find husbands for but there is also much to celebrate and when he spies a beautiful stranger as part of this celebration his only goal is to see her smile. Unfortunately all turns bitter when he learns he played right into a well-planned scheme. Should he throw her out or is there a good reason for her deception?

Alexander Lammergier, Laird of Kinfairlie, has seen two sisters wed, but still must secure a future for his three younger sisters. With Kinfairlie's coffers nearing empty, every mouth fed is a strain and Alexander is struggling to keep the people in his abode fed. The strain of the responsibility he's undertaken since his parent's untimely deaths has stolen much of his merriment as he's struggled to keep his lands afloat and worried over the well being of those who depend upon him.

Worried about his plans for their futures, Alexanders younger sisters scheme to get their brother back for the forced weddings of the older sisters and vow to find him a bride themselves. Although both older sisters have found happy marriages, despite Alexander's meddling, the younger ones fear they might not have such good fortune and hope for a wife for their brother to ensure a lady's favor in their finding happy matches.

Lady Eleanor is on the run with only the clothes she is wearing. Desperate to flea after the untimely death of her second husband, she runs through the snow and through the night to escape a harsh punishment she knows awaits her. Her last husband was not only cruel, but his surviving kin are as well and Eleanor fears for her life. She stumbles into a chapel seeking warmth and respite on the cold winter's night. When morning comes and she is still huddled in it's depths she is spotted by Alexander's sisters.

Fearful of what marriage may hold, but desperate to be protected against a cruel and vengeful man, Eleanor must put her fears aside and participate in a plot to marry a man she hardly knows without his knowing he is being plotted against. Alexander is nothing like her previous husbands and values love, kindness, and truth above all else. With rumors stacking up against her, truth is a hard morsel to provide and may jeopardize the loving marriage that Alexander seeks. Eleanor has many secrets and telling those secrets may expose both herself and those she loves to great peril.

When attempts are made on Alexander's life, all eyes turn to the stranger who has already buried two husbands. Will Eleanor be able to earn his trust before it is too late? Will her past cost Alexander his life? Is a marriage which starts with deception able to be saved? With her deceased husband's kin out for blood, and her new husband out for her heart, Eleanor will face challenges like she has never known. Her life, her heart, and the lives of those she loves lay in the balance.

The Snow White Bride is an engaging, heart gripping, and memorable novel about love, romance, trust, and sacrifice. The writing is outstanding, the dialogue witty and clever, and the characters have a grace and depth that makes them seem to leap from the pages as real people that will astound and engage the reader.

I listened to the audio version narrated by Saskia Maarleveld who did an outstanding job. The narration was clear, crisp, and added character to the novel. The Snow White Bride is a novel one can get lost in and the narration plays like a movie in the mind of the reader or like the telling of a favorite tale. It's a must read/listen to novel and delights from start to finish.

The Snow White Bride had suspense, danger, and a swoon-worthy romance. Eleanor’s story touched me. I admired her bravery, strength and grace. I found myself hoping she would find her happy. Her story has some dark moments and I will warn you, while not overly detailed it is upsetting. I have always admired Alexander, the Laird of Kinfairlie. Despite what his sisters say, he is honest, charming and sexy. He cares deeply for his homestead and those in his keep. I loved that we had villains, danger and unexpected surprises throughout the tale. As the couple became acquainted and learned to trust we hit a few obstacles but they communicated and did not run around acting like ninnies. I loved the mixing of humor, heat and conversation allowing their relationship to feel genuine. The last section had me biting my nails, crossing my fingers and even shedding tears. The Snow White Bride was delightful and loved spending time in the medieval halls of Kinfairlie.

I loved this story!
After finding husbands for two of his sisters in the first two books in The Jewels of Kinfairlie series, Alexander is finally paid his due. When an unknown woman shows up at the chapel of Kinfairlie seeking aid, Alexander's sisters see an opportunity to turn the tables on him and marry him off.
Lady Eleanor has been forced to marry twice before and is in no hurry to find another husband. Having run from her last home she is seeking sanctuary in Kinfairlie when she comes upon Alexander's younger sisters and agrees to be part of their scheme. Little does she know that Alexander has plans of his own to win her affection and heart.
I simply adore Alexander and how he strives to win over Eleanor. Their relationship is filled with mistrust and secrets but he refuses to give up on the woman he is falling in love with.

I would highly recommend this series to fans of historical romance.

This is the third book in the Kinfairlie series. It continues whereas Alexander is trying to find husbands for his remaining three unwed sisters. He already was able to wed off two sisters and fortunately everything worked out for all involved, though not without twist and turns along the way. All the sisters feel strongly that It is due time that Alexander must follow suit for he needs an heir and are full aware of his tactics in finding husbands for them. They take it amongst theirselves to arrange a similar situation where he must take that wedded step even though he starts to suspect he has been setup. It is a fun and entertaining read with plenty of romance and evil doers to interfere with waylaid plans. If you have enjoyed the series so far then be sure to continue with The Snow White Bride. This was a well-written, enjoyable medieval romance. Lady Eleanor has been widowed twice and was treated badly in both marriages. Alexander, the Laird of Kinfairlie, has helped two of his sisters find grooms. He sees Eleanor's sadness and wants to make her smile. His sisters suggest to Eleanor that she marry Alexander and she agrees to escape the danger she is in. They have dangerous enemies, but the bigger risk is whether they can let themselves trust each other. This was a great story. It can be read as a standalone book, though is the third in a series with related characters. I am excited to read the next in the series! The Snow White Bride by Claire Delacroix is the third book in The Jewels of Kinfarlie Series, which are set in 1400's England. I can't express how much I love this series! All books are narrated by Saskia Maarleveld who is one of the best narrators in the business. She gives every character their own distinct voice and has a rhythm to her reading that is melodious.

In The Snow White Bride, the story centers around Alexander, the Laird of Kinfairlie. After being married off in the first two books, Madeleine and Vivienne persuade Alexander into marrying Lady Eleanor, who is running away from a life of misery following two awful and violent marriages. Eleanor has never known love and Alexander is just the man up to the task of showing her what it is - even if it takes them a lifetime. Pure historical romance at its best! (sigh)

It was time for Alexander to find his bride, even tho he didn't find her at all. What would he have done without his sceaming sisters. He had to work for his happy ending which is what makes this book so memorable. This one was fabulous. ALexander and Eleanor ar perfect for each other and the fact that both will do anything to protect each other and those they are responsible for just makes this book all the better. This was a wonderful series

Setting - Kinfarlie, Scotland - 1421 --- In a desperate flight to freedom, Lady Eleanor had made her way to the village of Kinfarlie, Scotland but with the snow falling fast and furious, she needs to find shelter - and soon! Seeing a church through the falling snow she was grateful to find the door unlocked - sanctuary, and at last a place to rest. It was here that the two sisters of Alexander Lammergeier, Laird of Kinfarlie would discover Eleanor and formulate a plan to both aid the beautiful lady and give their brother a dose of his own medicine after tricking the both of them into marriage!

Lady Eleanor was amazed at the Laird of Kinfairlie's sisters warmth and caring, as well as shocked that they wanted a complete stranger to marry their brother. After years of abuse at the hands of two deceased husbands, she finally agreed, sensing that the young laird could at least offer her protection from the danger that followed close on her heels. What she didn't quite expect was to discover a man who seemed to want nothing more from her than to make her smile; who seemed to respect her as a person; and who sparked in her a passion that she'd never before experienced.

Alexander was enchanted with his mysterious new wife and though he soon discovered how he'd been tricked into the marriage, he wanted to gain her trust and her love. It would soon became a true test of his faith when he realized that she held many secrets close to her heart, a heart that he was no longer sure was pure. As much as Alexander wanted to believe in her, rumors of her murdering her late husbands and mysterious accidental poisonings at Kinfairlie pointed to her guilt, as a ruthless fiend sought to capture her for himself or would Alexander's love be enough to save them both?

--- In the third book to the `Jewels of Kinfairlie' trilogy, Delacroix has penned another exciting, sensual and edge of the seat romantic adventure. Delacroix proves once again how masterful she is at creating wonderful characters and integrating a fabulous plot, mystery and sensuality into the mix. Eleanor was brilliantly drawn so that the reader truly felt overwhelming sympathy over the horrors that were visited down on her; Alexander was a dream hero; and the villain a total ruthless fiend! This is a totally entertaining read and it begs this reader to say - please, don't stop here - there's three more jewels (the rest of the Lammergeir sisters) just waiting for stories! --- Marilyn, for (...)

The Laird of Kinfairlie, Alexander, is proud of marrying off two of his sisters Vivienne (see THE ROSE RED BRIDE) and Madeline (see THE BEAUTY BRIDE) in what appears to be happy relationships. However, his two siblings have not forgotten how poorly he managed their futures once he replaced their deceased parents. Vivienne and Madeline decide to find a bride for their brother before he can wed off the still too young remaining sisters.

They select Lady Eleanor who wants to marry for love and passion, but knows men only covet her fortune. Alexander's siblings ask her to marry their brother. She knows if she chooses Alexander as her husband she will be freed from danger of those abusive suitors willing to do anything to claim her fortune as theirs. However, Alexander is interested in her smile that makes his insides weak. He wants Eleanor by his side for a lifetime, but persuading her he loves her starts with earning her trust.

The third Kinfairlie medieval romance is a terrific entry as the two sisters avenge their brother's misdeeds by finding the right woman for him if he is wise enough to realize it. The story line is exciting but character driven starting with the contented married siblings plotting their brother's fall into matrimony and only getting deeper as the heroine trusts nothing male because they only want her only her fortune while Alexander knows he can achieve security with Eleanor, but wants more as he realizes she is his soulmate.

the store rating 4/5 stars

"The Snow White Bride by Claire Delacroix is the third in a 1400s family trilogy set in England. The oldest brother Alexander has the task of keeping Kinfairlie from going into debt. In the first two books, his objective was to marry off his sisters, Madeleine and Vivienne. In this third episode, the sisters get an idea of their own - to coax their brother into marrying a woman of their choosing. This ends up being a stranger who shows up on their property, seeking help. Lady Eleanor's life story is a mystery, but the sisters are aware that she is running away from someone. They agree to get their brother to marry her, no matter what it takes!" - Complete review at BookLoons - M. Lofton

The story was perfect, as was Alexander, up until the moment he drank the wine, then he was consistently burdened with heartache because of Eleanor.

But I don't think I've ever seen a heroine lie as much as this one did, and often after she'd sworn faithfully to Alexander that she wouldn't do so again. He gave her so many ways out each time, with his kindness and willingness to take her side, but still, she would lie to him. Then he would find himself being 'thankful' when she would let him in on the truth behind one of her secrets.

At one point, when she decides to tell Alexander and his people a specific truth, only because they'd caught her in one of her lies, she turns it into a once-there-was-a-woman story, leaving the people to figure out that she's talking about herself. Couldn't she have just said it was she? Granted, she was treated horribly in the past, but I could drum up no sympathy for this woman because she was deceptive to the end - she had invited Lord Reinhard without telling Alexander, (she could have told him without revealing her final secret) and Alexander is again pained by her actions.

All manner of horrible things are going through his mind, not the least of which is his fear that his newborn might be ill. He deserved a better wife.

Claire Delacroix is a very gifted writer. Her stories are warm, funny and very engaging. I like how the characters come into their own and earn their own book and the story continues. Each character has their own story, but you also get a little info on how the other members of the family have been doing. I have bought everything Claire Delacroix has written about the Lammergeier family and Kinfairlie.

Really good story! I loved how kind and patient the hero was. I felt so sorry for what a difficult life the lady had lived. The plot was twisty and turny so there was always something unexpected happening. I'm looking forward to reading more of the related books.
