This a wonderful story of three friends who spend the summer at the beach in a small cottage. They each have significant issues in their lives to work through. They interact with their new friends as well as those they have left back on the mainland in a way to move on when the summer is over.

I enjoyed the book but often times found myself wanting more, waiting for more to happen. The ending was weak and all of a sudden the book was over. It didn't conclude enough of the story and what happened with each character after their summer on Nantucket. It was real though and easy to read. Cancer is a major focus in this book and it hits close to home. Bad ending or not, I still liked the book and love to read anything Elin writes.

I have enjoyed other books by this author, but this one had characters about whom I could care less. They were self-centered, whining, and even the back stories were annoying. In this case I am sorry I spent the money.
Summer Island :: Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas - 100 Images to Inspire Creativity :: A Clean Historical Cowboy Romance (Montana Mail Order Brides Book 1) :: A History of European Civilization in the Period of Pascal :: A twisted thriller you won’t be able to put down (A Detective Porter novel)

OK book that kept my interest, but offered no surprises. Well written, good character development, but a little formulaic. I will admit that I cried near the end. Would recommend to those who like "nice" stories, but it really wasn't my kind of book.

Elin Hilderbrand keeps readers imvolved in her stories by creating realistic characters and many story twists. I am in the process of reading all of her books. I love the settings in beautiful Nantucket.

I purchased this book because it seemed like a light and entertaining read. It was awful! I had to force myself to read 80 pages and then I gave up. The characters were not likable and the story was taking way too long to develop.

I was disappointed in this book. The first pages made me laugh. Too many heavy problems for three people. There is nothing "light" about the book. The author would benefit from a how to write class. She endlessly repeated herself. I won't be buying anymore of her books. I won't be finishing this one.
Deserves no stars.
