... a complete reference book. It doesn't have analysis, but has facts. Early times to current times, science to sport, government, economics, all the arts and much, much more, the statistics are here. Have a question? This book probably has the answer. I buy the newest edition every three or four years and give my older one away, making someone else happy too.

This truly is a delightful bed-time companion. Every night, something to ponder over: to muse, to fill in the time between the novel and the needed sleep....or something that will just keep you turning the pages for more. A standard must-have for my [kids] readers and the best part is that there is always a new yearly edition. A great birthday present idea for old and young alike.

Sometimes when I grab for my "World Almanac' and it could be any edition,
I forgot what I was going to look up because I stopped along the way
to read something else. That happens time and again. Fun.

If you like to do crossword puzzles you will need to get one of these books each year. I use it to look up other things too, but mostly for puzzles. You never know when you will need to look up something important.

I have found myself enjoying a couple of hours at a time marveling at the info on everything from their listing of EVERY 4 year colege/university in the USA to more sports stats than I have seen anywhere except sport specific numbers on a single sport online site. For specific questions of fact there is no better single source on such a wide variety of topics. I will admit to cheating a few times while sweating over crossword clues on many arcane topics. Fun and useful all in one place. Before buying it, I had no idea there was sooo much sports information.

This book(published over half a year into President Trump's administration) believes that Obama is still in office(checknthe tenure years next to Obama's photo.
Then just a few sentences into Trump's bio they mentions DOJ investigating discrimination in housing by Trump. Outrageous!!

Since junior high school, the annual World Almanac has been indispensable to me. Despite the advent of the Internet, everyone still needs this one-volume reference book somewhere handy. I'm always going to it to look something up. New lay-flat binding for the paperback edition is a nice touch. Good price from this seller.

Here is my acid test on entertainment - If I could only have one, which would it be?

Well this book is my entertainment and information go to source that beats the net. So much data, that is not really avialble on the internet. Concisely assembled and easily accessible.

It takes some getting used to, but I have been using this Almanac for over 30 years, and it always delivers.

Want to fact check a political speech, very easy with referenced official data - not some unfounded rantings of a net weirdo.

Arm yourself with information, and never look back.

The whole point of the World Almanac is the wealth of material in the tables. All of the tables are photo-reduced and impossible to read. This could have been made into a usable Kindle product - but it wasn't. On the other hand it cost almost nothing. I guess you get what you pay for.

These are for Christmas, however, I did look thru the "2009" edition my Uncle has and it is great, especially for us older folks, when you need to reference something, it is the "go to" book. I highly recommend this, one of them is for my daughter because she is just curious by nature.

Excellent Quick Reference source. One of 3 books that always set on my desk at home.
#1 New Oxford Annotated Bible
#2 Webster's New World Dictionary
#3 The World Almanac.
Each a great personal development resource.

The World Almanac is the best all-around reference book there is. We tried the New York Times Almanac a few years ago, and immediately returned to the World Almanac.
It's perfect for browsing, crossword puzzling, or helping the grandkids with their homework. A quick look-up and there's an answer!

Everyone needs one of these to check facts in what you write or what someone else has written. This one has a good index and is well organized. The World Almanac has a good reputation that doesn't seem to have suffered much editorially from the Reader's Digest ownership.

For the 25th consecutive year I have purchased the World Almanac. In my opinion it is the ultimate reference book for a wide variety of subjects. However I am disappointed with the comparison of Jeremiah Wright with John Hagee in the year in pictures section. Wright a close associate of Barak Obama hates America, in contrast John Hagee who merely endorsed John McCain was called Anti-Semetic. This is completely false, it is well documented he is one Israel's strongest supporters. Do your homework book of facts!

Every year we buy the Almanac for the previous year and pass the last on to one of the high school grandkids. Where would we be in the new of the world without a reference book when its harder to remember "things"?

The Kindle version of The World Almanac is atrocious with charts appearing to be low-quality scans of graphics straight from the paperback version. Readability, searchability and customizability are close to nil. This is a lost opportunity to marry the The World Almanac's superb content with the Kindle's leading technology. I have been a loyal World Almanac reader since 1971 when I received my first edition at age 9. The 1999 edition was my primary study guide when preparing for my appearance on "Jeopardy" (I won four games). I implore The World Almanac to work closely with the store to develop a Kindle version that is worthy of both organizations.
