Wow. The condition of this book was perfect! I was impressed. Love that it is a hardback, and since we already have H.A. Rey's book on Constellations, this was a great book to follow up with. It really goes into detail. I knew it would be a hit when my 7-year-old unwrapped it and said..."HEY! Look! There's the twins!". We love this book.

The only stargazing book I need. I accidentally chose an early edition that has not been updated with astronomical decisions like the elimination of Pluto from the list of planets, but the stars don't change.

This book offers an exceptional introduction to the night sky. If you're interested in learning more about astronomy, whether you're a young person or young at heart, this book is a great place to start.

I purchased this edition to replace my well-worn copy which I have had for 45 years.
I was delighted to find that there were many updates such as planetary information
(including the demotion of Pluto!), some changes in star brightness, and other
reflections of advanced knowledge. I still find it incredibly useful, particularly
since my move to the Southern U.S. which has allowed me to see "new" stars.

This is an excellent book to start with stargazing hobby, it's easy to read and understand, and the way they draw the constellation makes more sense than other books I've seen where you just see the geometrical form making difficult to memorize them.

for me to learn about star gazing I needed several stepping stone books and this was my second, after Rey's Find the Constellations. Has basic science, legends and more science... that I have to read a few times.

This order was to replace my original copy which was given to my son. This makes a great gift for anyone who is interested in astronomy and especially for beginners. The text and graphics are so well done that even Curious George could understand.

This book is very neat. I read reviews before purchasing for my son, at the time 12. Reviews said it's kid friendly, written by a children's book author. Well my son had no interest in it, to go with his new telescope. I think it was still too much of a read for a kid that wanted to just get started for fun. Everybody's different.

i love this book unconditionally. it's scientific and historical explanations are clear and interesting, and it's easy to use. i've learned so many constellations! i'd recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone wanting to learn more about what they see at night.

I bought 2 copies, one for each family of grandkids. We're going to spend lots of time laying on the grass on summer nights looking at constellations! It's a great book - and makes the constellations easier for me to identify, too.

While this is not a definitive guide to the stars, it is not intended to be. Where it excels is in its explanations of many key astronomy concepts used to navigate and identify stars and other celestial objects. Great for beginners.

I have been searching for this book for years! It skips the useless mathmatics of astrology and gets to what people what to see which is constelations, background and how to best find stars, It gives you the info you need in a simple laid out format. The best star book I have purhcased ever! It shows you the best time of the night at any time of the year for best viewing for stars and constelations.
