although the illustrations were powerful and well done, I would have preferred old illustrations by the likes of Arthur Rackham, which resonate with my childhood memory of the tales. Wonderful to have, even with the American spelling.

I absolutely love Disney's tales and wanted to know where they came from. I started reading this and fell in love at the start. I wish I would have known that this book was available on the kindle. ?

There is a lot packed into this book. Love seeing the differences between the original stories and what we grew up reading and watching. Bought it for my wife, but we fight over who gets to read it.

Disappointed with layout inside. Print size inside too small. Stories jammed together, one after another on same page. I mean, no fresh page to start next story. Also, I learned later that the 7th edition was the standard form for the stories.

Original is much darker and children are not safe. If you like the dark side of things or just want a truer view of the times, this is much better than the milk toast, PC of your favorite "fairy" tales.

This book is a translation from German of the Grimm's first 2 books of fairy tales. It's great to have this book available to English speakers. I wish they'd chosen another illustrator. The illustrations are so bad I'm considering taping them over.

This book is definitely not for children, but is an amazing read! I don't want to give too much away, but was blown away at the origins of some of these stories - particularly The Princess and the Frog and Cinderella! Pick up this book and you will not be able to put it down! Great read!
