The Thief's Countess by Cecelia Mecca has Sir Geoffrey Wayrn,
a reiver, and his Uncle Hugh riding to keep Lady Sara Caiser safe until her betrothed can arrive to marry her. Lady Sara Caiser, a Countess, whose about to be married to Count Lyonsford as a death bed request from her father he has chosen man to keep her and Kenshire safe. Sir Geoffrey has demons of his own, his family holding Bristol was stolen from his family and he’s out to get revenge and regain his family home. Geoffrey’s job is to watch Lady Sarah and keep her safe, but little does he know keeping her safe is no small task. Sarah does not want or need a body guard and Geoffrey guards her regardless of her wishes. These two strong independent characters collide and rub each other the wrong way, especially since they are mutually attracted to one another. They are both honor bound to do their duty and to see them fall in love and then have to deny their love is heart breaking. It’s complicated for an alluring Countess to fall in love, she and Geffrey have so much against them. It’s amazing to see such love and sacrifice all lead to their HEA!!!
I received a complimentary copy and this is my honest review.

'The Thief's Countess' by Cecelia Mecca is book One in the "Border" series. This is the story of Lady Sara and Sir Geoffrey.
Geoffrey had his birthright stolen and now with his Uncle they have been thieving to get coin to help take care of his younger siblings. Geoffrey is looking to get revenge for what was taken. But his Uncle reports that he had a dying request from a friend that wants them to protect his daughter. That daughter being Sara. Sara is a Countess who Title and Lands are very much wanted by other people. So Sara understands why her father sent the request but she is not happy about it at all. When she meets Geoffrey he is to handsome for his own good. Geoffrey too finds Sara very beautiful and is another reminder of what he has lost with his birthright being taken...that of a Noble Wife.
Ms. Mecca had me sucked into this book from the very first pages. It is one you can't put down!

The Thief's Countess, the first book in the Border Series, is an emotional ride filled with intrigue, drama, and passion. Cecelia Mecca's ability to bring Thirteenth Century England and Scotland to life is a testament to her talent as a writer. Her heroines are strong women who stand up for what they want in a time when women had little rights. The growing attraction between Lady Sara and Sir Geoffery is sweet and steamy. Her willful nature ignites a longing in him for something more than revenge, the one thing that had been driving him for years. His compassion and sense of honor help her to see beyond the label of 'reiver' to see the man for who he is; someone of noble birth. By the time you reach the last page you will be so entrenched in their lives you won't want to put the book down!

I am an avid reader of historical romances and get really annoyed when a writer writes with anything less than historical authenticity. Cecelia Mecca clearly did her research. Most romances written about this time period take place in the Scottish Highlands, so I was especially intrigued to read this first book in The Border Series with an English hero and heroine. I was pulled right into Sir Geoffrey's dilemma--desire to reclaim his birthright, the delay caused by the mission to guard Lady Sara, and his impossible attraction to Sara. Sara's own dilemma of an impending arranged marriage, typical of a woman in her high position was realistic and contrasted well with her engaging feistiness. The tension between the two was well crafted, the sex hot, and the HEA a satisfying resolution. I'm looking forward to The Border Series Book Two--Bryce's story.

Having read The Ward's Bride, I was interested in seeing how Ms Mecca was going to handle a full novel, and I was not disappointed. The Thief's Countess was an exciting, sensual read that kept my attention all the way. through. I was resentful when my attention was distracted by such mundane things such as laundry and meal preparation! The pull of emotions and electric attraction between Sir Geoffrey and Lady Sara was everything that was forbidden to them, and yet they were unable to pull away from the allure of exploring their illicit relationship. Intermingled with danger and betrayal, this is a very fine example of medieval romance. I highly recommend this book to adult readers. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

What to say?!?
I love historical romances. For a debut novel, this one exceeded all expectations!!!

Sara and Geoffrey's story is a beautiful one.
They want each other and love each other, however, his past holds him back and her station in life determines her future.

Do they get their happy ever after?
What choices do they make?
What about the man who proses a threat to her future?
What, what, what??
Only one way to find out, you have to get the book and travel their journey with them. You won't be disappointed.

An absolute winner!!! Well done Cecelia, I will most certainly be reading the others in the series. A well deserved 5 stars!!

I willingly read this book as part of an ARC group.

Thank you so much Cecelia Mecca for the opportunity to read and review "The Theif's Countess. Fell in love with the characters immidiately...felt their intense struggle...torn between their love and passion and their duty to their family legacy and the people who rely on them. The story moves along quickly and is quite an emotional roller coaster as political intrigue, and assasins interfere with the love, passion and romance we feel growing between Geoffrey and Sara. These books are also KU. Anticipating reading the sequel and prequel to this much loved book.?

After reading the prequel to this series I could not wait to read the first book in the series! I was not disappointed !! Geoffrey, who has lost his holding and his uncle come to the aid of Lady Sara, whose father has just passed away. They are to protect her until her arranged bethrothed comes to help her defend her castle. The problem is there is an almost instant attraction between Geoffrey and Sara and therein lies a wonderful story! Please read to find out what happens and cannot wait to read the second book in this series! This author has a bright future ahead!

The Thief’s Countess is filled with mystery, adventure, romance, danger, passion and suspense. You will find yourself wandering how Lady Sara and Sir Geoffrey are going to work out.

Both are strong willed and caring. They come together to find odds that stack up against them.

The author does an excellent job with the characters and the secondary characters are just as good Hugh and Faye are cute together and hope to learn more about them later on.

A wonderful medieval romance to get lost in.

I voluntarily read this book for a review.

Story kept my interest from beginning to end. Loved both Geoffrey and Sara; she kept her strength through the story(a true heroine) and he supported, respected and loved a women with power. Development of love story very believable with steamy love scenes. Supporting cast were likable and well developed.

Great story. Well written. For much of the story, I thought of Romeo and Juliet. However, the romance in this story has a happier ending. It also has an exciting/suspenseful betrayal episode. Can not wait to read Bryce's story. Highly recommended. Personal note: I too would like to go back in time and find a knight to love and cherish.

This is a light read with likable characters. Could have been a little less light. With an unwanted betrothal and a relative trying to steal the title and property, I would have liked more mystery or skirmishes.

I borrowed this book from kindle unlimited because I enjoyed the prequel THE BORBER WIFE so much and am glad I did. The author has a way of drawing you in to the timeline and writing engaging, feel-good characters. So grab a copy and skip back in time to see a third steal his Countess!

I am not your typical Romance genre fan, but this book really surprised me with it's well developed characters, and plot. I love historical fiction, so this was fun to read about the "reivers" and all about Scotland. I learned a little bit, while being thoroughly entertained. The main characters had so much chemistry together, and if you love Romance, you will enjoy the sexy interludes between them! Overall a really fun read!

This book was well written and I loved the characters. Geoffrey and Sara made a great couple. Even knowing they would end up together, it was difficult and sad until theory could be together. I am looking forward to reading this series.

This was my first historical romance read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The details of the characters, the details of the time period, and the details of the "steamy" parts kept my interest piqued. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great romance novel!

OPTION do you really think anyone in the 12th century used the word. No, they did not. If you take the time to use Mayhap and make a point to define words used then, I would like to ask you to lose the word optiontion. The servant said he had not other options, Good Lord. Will read no further.

Although this book can be read as a standalone, I would suggest reading 'The Ward's Bride', the prequal to the Border Series and a prelude to what is to come. You won't regret it. This is one of the best medieval romance series I have come across. You get it all, accurate details of the time period; enchantingly bold characters to make you swoon; and intriguing storyline throughout; and heart stopping romance to last a lifetime. You won't be disappointed. I received a complimentary copy of this book.

I am an avid reader with a passion for Historical Romances. Cecelia Mecca’s “The Thief’s Countess” is Medieval Romance at its best! She may be at the start of her career but she writes like a seasoned pro. This was one of the best romances I have ever read. I was blown away by her writing style, the storyline, her pedant for historical detail and the depth of her characters. From page one I was drawn into Gregory and Sara’s seemingly impossible love story as they dealt with their growing love for each other and the realization they were both honor bound by duty not to follow their hearts. The story kept my interest and was fast paced. As I read I kept hoping that somehow they would get their HEA. There were several twists and turns which enhanced the story. The ending was a total surprise and made reading the book a joy.
If you are looking to read a truly exceptional Medieval Romance than I highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.

I received an ARC of the book.
