Terry Brooks has gotten better!
Always enjoy a Shannara tale. As always, the book stands alone and leaves it open for more without feeling like a cliff hanger ending.
The big difference I saw was important characters died in this book ...

Terry Brooks is a legend in the fantasy realm. While many of his books seem to follow a similar story line, they are always intriguing and tell a wonderful story. There are always bits of truth and words of wisdom to bad in his stories. I look forward to reading the continuation of the story.

This book is amazing as all of Terry Brooks stories are. same family line so people who have read along with him know the history and stories from the past. so references in this book bring those past stories to mind without being repititous. However if you are new to Terry Brooks books each one stands alone!! Amazing writer. keep it up Terry!

This is the first time Terry has disappointed me. I felt like for this book Terry just dialed it in. Towards the middle of the book I realized that I had read this plot before just with different names. I wouldn't not recommend a Terry Brooks book, but do not expect to be thrilled by this one. It slips a lot from the originality and quality of his previous material.

Up to his usual standards. The beginning of a new triolgy set in this interesting world he has created. I recommend all his books be read in logical order instead of the order written. Good fantasy.

Terry Brooks one of my two favorite authors does it again. This book continues to expand upon the wonderful world of Shannara. I have lived in this world since it was first introduced to us in the original trilogy and continue to love every installment. Great characters in this book and you can really get involved with them.

With this book, as with most of the Brooks novels, this one was a fun read. Interesting characters and some great seeds planted for the future. This volume seemed quite a bit shorter than his other works and as the book ended I felt that I was really just getting into the meat of the story. Looking forward to see what happens next.

While not as epic in scope as a traditional Shannara book, this was amazing to read. Throughout the series, I have some favorite characters... Allanon, the Reaper, Truls Rohk, and I would now add Paxon Leah to that list. Loved that for once Terry Brooks spared us a painful cliffhanger. Loved every page!

Exciting adventure following the great grandson & great granddaughter of Mirai Leah & Redden Ohmsford. Short, Succint, yet very spellbinding. It was a quick read that I couldn't put down until I finished.

Very predictable plot line. Mr Brooks has taken his success with his earlier works and used it as a means to sell books. The last few series have had the same story line and same characters with different names. Time to retire this series.

It's different reading the Shannara world without the Ohmsford family being center stage. I did like the story and it felt like they reached a quality stopping point. However it still falls behind some of the previous works.

I've been reading these Shannara books since I was 12. I've always enjoyed them. I enjoyed this one too, but not as much as I usually do. There just doesn't seem to have been any new territory covered here at all. The characters are basically retreads, the plot is fine but meh...maybe subsequent books in this storyline will make me care more, but this one was just empty calories to me.

An appetizer from the Brooks kitchen. Well done with a nice tie to a cherished main character in a supporting role and a younger generation. But, it ends leaving you feeling like the author just got done setting the stage for the real story.
