I absolutely LOVED this book and would recommend it to every girl out there! This was the first personal development book I have read and it has absolutely changed my life. It was so real, vulnerable and authentic. I loved that it was interactive and encouraged me to write down my thoughts and ideas right then while I was thinking about them. Melissa has inspired me beyond belief and now that I have finished the book, I can't wait to start living my truth. If you want a life changing book that will put you on the right path this is it!

I purchased this audiobook when it was featured on the deal of the day promotion – let me tell you, I’m so glad I did! I would happily pay full price and then some for this. I love the sound of Melissa’s voice – I find her to be calming, soft, intelligent, and personable. I often feel like she’s speaking right to me and encouraging me. She will always great you with a “hello beautiful” or encouraging “you’ve got this sista”!
I listened to Melissa on the way to work and on the way home every day, it was my dose of self love and care. I fell in love with her downloadable content, the soul shares and meditation. Whenever I’m anxious, I turn to her protective segment which is 11 minutes or so. It has become my bedtime companion. I’ve never felt so encouraged or engaged. I am now part of her tribe (okay, maybe that is self-proclaimed) – I follow all of her social media accounts, blog, website updates, and recently got into her podcasts (which I binge endlessly at work). I admire and am in awe of this woman. For me she is the definition of #GOALS. I highly recommend that you read or listen to this. I have told many friends and family members. She has inspired me to learn, research, try new things, create better habits, and more. This woman is amazing and so is her message and love for herself and others.

Melissa Ambrosini breathes fresh air into the self-help genre with Mastering Your Mean Girl. Aiming to inspire you to get past that sneaky voice in your head that's telling you that you're are not good enough, smart enough, or worthy enough to achieve any other life other than the one you're living right now, Melissa goes after your inner mean girl. She offers up a process that helps you choose love over fear, to get to the life and achieve the goals you've always imagined. Pretty lofty claims right? Mastering Your Mean Girl is a journey to appreciate and love yourself.
Sounding much like a friend, Melissa encourages and guides you through each section, from finding your truth in your career to living healthy, providing mantras, along with exercises and tips on loving yourself and always choosing love over fear. This book is so packed with information that was almost overwhelming. It's was easier for me to process this book in individual sections, ending with the exercises and putting it aside until the next day or the next time that I needed a little lift. I feel Mastering Your Mean Girl motivated and deeply inspired me, it really was a loving book.
There's a lot of information from Mastering Your Mean Girl on Melissa's website. I recommend checking it out before buying the book, as it will give you a good glimpse of Melissa's mind set. Melissa's view might not be for you, but, this book really surprised me. I did an eye roll the first time I read the words "Fear Town", but was taken back when her prescription of meditation worked. While I won't be fitting in Melissa's two 20-minute blocks into my schedule, I did download the Calm app. I'm half-way into the seven day intro program and 10 minutes a day of meditation has been great for relieving stress and refocusing after work.
Melissa recycles ideas found through other thought leaders, such as Brené Brown, but she gives full credit and also links the ideas inspired by others into her own frame work. She also makes harder concepts really easy to understand and even easier to implement, while still adding her own twist. This is the type of book that you leave beside your bed or carry with you during a rough patch so you can find something that inspires and lifts you right when you need it. I can't imagine not re-reading or referencing this book in the future.

The author had an interesting story and I admire her courage in sharing it. I found the book to be too conversational with not a lot of practical advice. It's frustrating to read books where there is one little blip about the personal struggle and then a huge part about how wonderful the person's life is now.

I found Ambrosini's book refreshing in that this is a self-help book where I just really believe her. I've read a lot of self-help books and I felt it a little refreshing that this one has a non-religious background (because even though I like Christian novels, sometimes it is distracting). Sometimes I feel self-help books can be more research based, but this one was just very emotional about her experiences and about yours too. I felt the big takeaway I had from reading this book was to take care of yourself so that you can be your best and brightest self for everyone around you; I think that is a wonderful message that is applicable to everyone.

A very similar book to many that are currently out there. As Betty said, it starts out with a girl who has hit rock bottom; gotten in with the wrong crowd, treats her body and soul wrong in every way possible, loses everything, and sees the light. The story is similar to that of many current authors, such as Katie Daleabout and Gabrielle Bernstein. The difference is, they offer their story and advice in a way that doesn't seem recycled. The writers voice is very young, meaning that it doesn't have the depth and flow needed to keep me hooked to the writing. The first few chapters bounce and bumble around, before finally settling down. Her exercises have a little more substance than the writing, as do the "Inspo-actions" that she includes near the end of each section. But then we'd dive back into her personal experiences, and sometimes less in more when talking about yourself.
This might be a book that I would recommend to a younger person, or someone who is new to reading about self-love and self-help, but I like a little more substance.
I received a copy of this book for review through Net Galley.

Having listened to Melissa's podcast for a while now I decided to check out her book and I really really love it! It has made me much more aware of that inner critic that often runs the show in my head. I had no idea it was as prominent as it is. With awareness, I can now challenge my limiting thoughts and made new choices if I want to.
The book is a joy to read and both because of how it's written and Melissa sharing her own personal story and insights, and also because of the photos throughout.
For some reason, this book has inspired me to take action in a way that many others haven't.... I think that all young people.... in fact all people... would benefit from reading it --- Looking forward to reading the newly released Open Wide! Thanks Melissa for shining your light so brightly :) x

I absolutely love this. The stories Melissa shares helps me to realize and heal from all the internal programming I've built up through out the years. It's given me self awareness and understanding around where these internal stories come from. I believe that we are all on a journey and sometimes the reader might not be on the right part of their journey to read this. Holistic health isn't something we just pick up. It takes a level of self awareness. I love love love Melissa's message and have picked up a boatload of nuggets that I will be practicing moving forward. Thank you Melissa for allowing me to grow into the best version of myself. Warm hugs and please keep spreading your positive vibrations with the world.

Mastering Your Mean Girl strikes a beautiful balance between helping you understand the psychology of your conscious and subconscious self and how your beliefs and habits affect your behavioural patterns, giving you practical examples of how you can change your outlook and life, and insight in to how Mel did the same through her journey to health, wellness and self love. The gorgeous layout, stunning imagery and beautiful quotes make the book so easy to read - you can't help but be immersed in a journey that goes beyond the words on the page. It's narrative is honest, at times raw and emotional, but most importantly, relatable. I've followed Melissa's journey online for a number of years. Mastering Your Mean Girl sews together all the themes and lessons she has passed on in blog posts, meditations, workshops and social media posts ✨?

While finishing my year at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, I had finally felt the urge to read/listen to Melissa Ambrosini's book. I was feeling discouraged and it was exactly what I needed to pick myself back up! Her book was so inspiring and empowering it really changed my perspective about myself and I use her tools every time I need to put my mean girl in her place...it also inspired me to write my own book! I really feel it is a MUST for women, even young women, to read this book and have it stocked in their libraries! She offers simple, manageable tools to implement into your life without feeling overwhelmed and she shows genuine love for helping women master their mean girl and chose love over fear <3 Absolutely, 100% my favorite book of the year.

I bought this book on Kindle while I was travelling overseas and since then I have bought at least 5 hard copies for friends and family because I just truly believe woman and every girl transitioning into womanhood should have this book and all it's wisdom in her life. Although, in saying that, Melissa doesn't just share her wisdom, she actually teaches you HOW to incorporate the changes into your life in beautiful steps of inspired action. I've just bought her second book Open Wide and i'm so excited to sink my heart and soul into it. Thank you Melissa, you are a shining light to so many!

EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK!!! For those of you out there who assume this is "just another self help book", or "nothing new", then you will completely miss out on this incredibly inspiring, uplifting, wonderfully-spirited read. Melissa shares her personal story and bares her soul in a way that not many writers are capable of. Not only does she make you feel like you're not alone, she offers the reader all the right tools so that we can all FINALLY start mastering our mean girl! Cos let's be honest, she exists in ALL of us! This book spoke to me on such a deep personal level & has helped me in the most positive of ways. It is a rare, fantastic read that will leave you bursting with love! And no it's not just a story about "a pretty girl who hit rock bottom", (we really need to stop hating on each other..we are ALL beautiful!), it speaks to your mind, body & soul. You'll be so excited to start living your dream life, and trust me, after this book, you WILL!!!

This book was more than just about Mastering Your Mean Girl (inner critic), she also goes into helping find your passion, healthy living, improving relationships, and so much more! Melissa writes from her heart and is honest and open throughout the book.
Here are 3 takeaways that I got from Mastering Your Mean Girl:
1. To choose love over fear.
2. The importance of letting go and “everyone is on different operating systems and is always doing the best they can...” (p.245).
3. Learning about my “worthy-o-meter” (p.82).
I highly recommend it! Thanks, Melissa, for taking the time to write this book!

Absolutely in love with the message Melissa shares in this book! More women need to be reading, listening and implementing these tips into their lives! It’s so easy to get caught up in the negative thinking, woe is me attitude but it’s just as easy to be grateful for each and every victory in life. It’s just what you choose to see! Change your mindset, change your life ?

I found this book the most helpful personal development book I have read so far. I have read about 15 others to date, and most of them I read twice. But, this book provides the most practical exercises to do as you read it, unlike others that just leave you feeling like you are ready to conquer the world but with no steps to get you there. If you are looking to dive deep into your road blocks and start freeing yourself from repeating the same mistakes that continue to hold you back in life, read this!!!! I can not recommend it enough. It will not disappoint you!

Life changing read which will set you up for success in your whole life! Read this while trying to move on from a past difficult marriage and divorce, I wanted to create a more positive mindset and be once again open to joy and easiness. This book sent me on a journey which has seen me take the steps to write a book, join B -school, start setting up a new business, love well and grow my network. The book brings together a lot of different ideas and input from Melissa's own journey and self-healing. This book is authentic, genuine, kind and loving. I really recommend reading it and using it as a catalyst to making change in how you think, behave and feel. It's an amazing journey and I'm so grateful I found this book!

After reading Melissa's book (and becoming absolutely obsessed with her work), I felt called and supported in completely stepping into the life that I want. It encouraged me to do a lot of digging into what lights me up and what my beliefs truly are. Melissa is an absolute light and a beautiful teacher, her message and her story may not be new, but the authentic way she shares and the joy and enthusiasm, and genuine care she shows for others shines. I absolutely recommend this book to everyone - young and old. It's a must read.

I absolutely LOVED this book. It feels like you are talking to a friend and I love the way Melissa writes. I feel like books, in this genre, can sometimes come off as condescending or like they know so much more than you, but there is no condescending tones whatsoever to Melissas writing! She shares her personal experiences, her personal rock bottom story. It is inspirational to read and feel like you get to really know her through her writing! I cannot wait to read Open Wide!!

Melissa managed to talk to my soul through her story. While our struggles aren't identical, our self talk while enduring those struggles was. I've come a long way since those days but had been feeling stagnant in my life lately and the self doubt and fear started rearing its head again. This book came around at the perfect time. I have implimented many of the suggested actions listed in the book and have confidently shut down my "Mean Girl" for good. I listened to the audiobook but have now ordered the paper copy so I'm able to take my highlighters to it! Thank you Melissa, you've changed my life.

I just love this book & everything Melissa does. I read it & then read it again. I refer to it most weeks & I share her wisdom with whoever I can. Not only is it written well but having the Inspiro Actions helps make it real for the individual. The quotes are just lovely & everything she writes is relateable. It's way more than just a self help book. This is my bible. I've been following Melissa for a few years now, I cant recommend her enough! Everything she does is with true heart & soul. I'm 53 & she has helped change my life for the better so this isnt just for the young girls, Melissa relates to everyone. Do yourself a huge favour & read this book, join her tribe & learn to live a whole hearted life.

The message in this book is actually incredibly simple - yet to master the bridge between fear and love is probably our greatest human journey. Melissa courageously and confidently discloses the lessons from her own illness, business, downfalls, triumphs and romance to generously give us a first hand and authentic account of how she chooses to be a better, happier and more abundant person daily - even when it's hard. The book is full of daily rituals, tips and personal enquiries that can give practical inspiration in wealth, health and relationships. A must read for those wanting to be stirred to lead more conscious, kind and awesome lives.

This book literally is changing my life. I have read a lot of "self help" new age kind of books that focus on meditation and health. But this has come at the right time in my life, and Melissa has some great ideas. I feel so much better as a person after working through this. I'm buying it so I don't have to keep renewing it from the library! Thank YOU Melissa!

Brilliant. Tremendous. THANK YOU Melissa for appearing in my life. It has changed it so much. I got the feeling that I need this book immediately. I got the book and it's been.., breakthrough after breakthrough, eyes-opening, amazing. I've gone through more of my limiting believes than I've been through in, well, probably my life. I see now and understand underlying reasons of why things are in my life not the way I would want them to be, and most importantly, what to do about it. Self-love has been one of main topics through my life, and Melissa is doind tremendous job covering this topic fully. I feel free, happy, inspired and excited for life. This book will change your life. For quite some time I have been interested in the principles of understanding my inner voice and had read the acclaimed books by Eckart Tolle, I agreed with what was written, but did not see a way to practically implement the changes into my life. Then I read " Mastering your mean girl ", it was so practical and easy to follow. It was the easiest read ever and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I meditated with Melissa's meditations daily and felt myself change on the inside. To cut a long story short within 6 weeks of reading this book, I was living a more positive outlook daily, was given a huge promotion at work and a massive pay rise. The doubts and fears that had previously dictated my daily actions, I suddenly understood and chose to live a life of "love over fear". I am now passing this book onto my teenage daughter to read. This book gave me an uplifting and life changing experience. Highly highly recommended.

I personally loved this book, (I actually bought the audio as well) I see another review that it is the 'same old' sure the practices are thousands of years old but Melissa delivers HER story which I think is very relatable and honest. Most women are just naturally conditioned to compete with one another on a superficial level and usually bond while gossiping about somebody else. The fear of somebody else being better or successful eats away them and they will never really know what it feels like to love themselves and be so happy in them self that when somebody is happy or successful it actually lights you up and makes you want to 'jump for joy' to celebrate THEM. There needs to be more of this - everywhere.
The underlying message is beautiful and inspiring and I have enjoyed every second listening to my audio version, no doubt I will listen to it again and again.
