I don't necessarily prescribe to all the old school information in here, but it's a classic, good read. A decent number of the remedies in here do work. A boiled onion strapped to your ear, for example, really does pull the infection out - It has been done to a family member.

This book is a testimonial to holding up through the ages. Despite the age of its release, newer audiences are learning of the great value of this book. And despite the advances of modern medicine, most of this time-tested advice and information makes so much sense and has proven so good for us.

This is the bible of herbal remedies and cures. This book was written during at the end of the depression. This was right at the turning point in medicine from natural to chemical cures. The author Jethro Kloss uses the book as a guide to sway the reader back to the proverbial Garden of Eden. The book is the accumulation of a lifetime of study of health, nutrition and lifestyle. Back to Eden goes into just about every aspect of life as well as candidly discusses each herb and historical uses as well as common ailments and herbs that help. While the vast majority of his prescriptions are safe, one should use one’s commonsense as well as current medical advice in treating some ailments. This is the first go-to book when one feels things just aren’t quite right with their body. In the beginning stages of health problems, these ideas are preferable to modern medicine. The problem is most take no action until the health problem becomes acute and then turn to these ideas as a last resort (instead of the first). When it comes to one’s health, it is true that a stitch in time does save nine (or in other words, take care of your body) and this book will discuss plenty of ways (that have now been proven true) like clean water, exercise, fiber, restful sleep, and eating fish.

This book is filled with LOST knowledge!! LOST!! Modern America (1940+) has forgotten all the wisdom passed from generation to generation. ex. did you know certain tree bark is edible, full of nutrients and even has healing properties? or eating unripe fruit can be malnurishing? The language is old fashioned. The science has advanced (in some instances) and medical terminology has changed. But......beyond those details, there is a wealth of good information that was passed down to us......but is now almost extinct. except in an old time book like this. buy it. save it. and pass it down along with the family bible.!!

Since purchasing this book, I have become aware of several good teas to solve many discomforts. It is well worth the price. Filled with home remedies. I can remember my grandmother talking about several of the "cures" that are in this book.

This book should be a staple in any household who believes in natural medicine. All the herbs may be found at an herbalist and are easy to use. This is my 2nd copy as I lost the first. I still recommend it to anyone. There remedies for just about every ailment you can get.
