When I was given Prelude to review, I was given the opportunity to read and review Creatura. It was a book I definitely liked. I've had an interest in mythology since I was younger, and I thought that the author Nely Cab blended them well to create something new. I liked the concepts she used in creating the background story, while including some familiar elements. The pacing of the book was good, with questions being left unanswered until it was time to address them from a story-telling point of view. This was the type of book that started off with a bit mystery when we're first introduced to Isis, and I wanted to continue reading to find out what would happen next.

As far as the main characters, I definitely liked Isis. From the moment she was introduced, I was interested in learning more about her and her story. She was smart, tough, and I enjoyed watching her character development as I got further into the book. I also liked David Chios. There was a definite air of mystery about him, and that was the case from the moment he was introduced. I'll also say that I thought that he and Isis made a great couple. I also liked many of the secondary characters. Nyx was probably my favorite, based on the interactions she had with Isis, but I also liked Eryx.

Overall, I definitely liked Creatura, and I can't wait to read the next book. My rating is 4/5 platypires.

Isis is a seventeen year old girl with a seemingly normal life, other than the recurring nightmare that has caused insomnia to the point of being detrimental to her health. Her doctor keeps insisting that she take the sleeping pills he’s prescribed, but she fights him and her mom tooth and nail. She doesn’t want to be drugged up, or have to depend on meds for the rest of her life. She finally breaks down and takes them after her mother pleads through tears for her to do it. Her mom just wants her to be okay. Once Isis starts taking the sleeping pills, she decided to stop fearing the dark figure in her dreams and confront it, not realizing that doing so will bring the mysterious figure to life.

The beginning of the story really hooked me, and I was super excited to be reading it. The authors writing style was fluid and captivating. The premise is refreshing for a paranormal story and I really liked Isis, the main character. The world building was spectacular and really had me pulled in. But as the story progressed I wasn’t falling for David as much as I think I was supposed to. He’s a two thousand year old deity with an entirely different vocabulary, which made the dialogue between David and Isis a bit awkward for me. Even with David being in a teenagers body, it felt strange. The pacing started to falter a bit because of it.

Though I didn’t fall in love with this book, I certainly didn’t dislike it either. I’m truly impressed by what the author created in this story, and will probably continue the series — especially with the way it ended.

I think most people who enjoy a unique paranormal tales focused on mythology will really like this one!

First thoughts after…
Holy Freakin' CRAP!!! I need to grab the next book AND SOON!

How distracted did I get?
Creatura is an addictive, fun and nerve wracking Fantasy Romance. From the beginning Creatura was a whirlwind story and I couldn't put it down. Isis is intelligent, strong, innocent and at times naive. I felt for her as she experienced her dreams. She stood up to the creature though things took a turn for her once she discovered it was a guy. LOL David, oh David. Come sweep me off my feet! Wait... he already has! He's a gentleman, sweet and a hottie mctottie! I loved the interactions with his brothers and mother. However, Galen I wanted to knock upside the head a few times. If you're looking for a great read that will have you sucked in and riding a roller coaster of emotions with a fun romance I highly recommend Creatura!

I was given a copy of Creatura by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Right from the beginning, I was sucked into this story. I'm such a sucker for the forbidden love stories and the character's struggles with what they want, versus what they should do.

The only time I put this book down was when I had to sleep, and even then it was only because my eyes refused to stay open any longer. As soon as one mystery is solved, another one pops up and you're left wondering just what the heck is going to happen next.

Each main character is well developed with their own personalities making the book flow perfectly with the plot. No one feels out of place. And I may also have a wee bit of a crush on Galen.

The ending...oh the ending. You better have Fruit of Misfortune, the sequel to Creatura, ready if you want answers. All I can say is you'll be left wanting more.

This is one of the best novels I've read in awhile, which earns it 5/5 platypire's from me! So what are you waiting for? Go and get the book!

Creatura is an absolutely amazing book. Nely Cab kept me guessing the whole way through with unexpected twist and turns. Her writing style is so easy to follow that I get lost in her world along the way. This story is put together seamlessly and has great character diversity. I found I could connect easily with the characters on this emotional roller coaster ride, with an unbelievable cliffhanger at the end.

Isis and David are from two different worlds and it is forbidding for the two to be together. In their journey they face danger, love, and adventure. Enemies become friends and friends become enemies. Together they discover hidden truths that shake their worlds. What will happen next? Will the unthinkable happen? Or will it all work out in the end? I am hooked!!!!

Make sure you check out book 2, Fruits of Misfortune as well. It is even better.

This world of Creatura Nely has created is so realistic and the characters are very well written. I found the plot interesting, unique and captivating. When 17 year old Isis Martin can’t sleep because she is having nightmares of a growling beast, she finally gets fed up with not being able to sleep though the night and confronts her fear. Isis is amazed that what was causing her nightmares was not a beast but an immortal named David Chios (he’s every girls dream *Swoon.*) guarding his lands of Somnium. David tells her she must go and never come back because humans are not allowed. She tells him over and over he’s not real she’s just dreaming she dares him to prove it. When he shows up at her school and tells are who he is she has no choice but to believe that he really is real and not just a dream. Eventually, they fall in love, but it is forbidden due to her being a mortal and David being an immortal. However, David is willing to sacrifice anything to be with Isis, and he does. After Isis's mother, Claire finally reveals a secret that will help her discover the truth about her father, they go off on a journey to find the truth.

I heard about this book through a book blogger. What interested me at first was that the author is from a city that is only 15 minutes away from my hometown. Therefore, I wanted to support local authors and purchased the book. After receiving it, the blurb on the back of the book left me intrigued and with the need to want to understand how one can be both more than human and less than human. So I started reading.

The plot is interesting and unique. Seventeen year old Isis Martin is unable to sleep due to the nightmares she experiences. While sleeping, she dares the boy from her dreams, David Chios, to prove that he is real. Little does she know that the boy from her dreams eventually becomes the boy every girl, including herself, dreams of. Eventually, they fall in love, but it is forbidden due to her being a mortal and David being an immortal. However, David is willing to sacrifice anything to be with Isis, and he does. Because of their unique circumstances, life-threatening complications arise and questions are raised. After Isis's mother, Claire, finally reveals a secret that will help her discover the truth about her father, they embark on a new journey to discover the truth.

This book kind of reminded me of the movie, City of Angels. The only resemblance being that an angel sacrifices immortality to be with his love, a human being. Since I am a sucker for romance, I loved this story. I especially loved David. Oh, does he make hearts swoon. Mrs. Cab did an excellent job portraying this character. David is a perfectly nice gentleman who takes into consideration Claire's feelings and wishes. His love letters and poems to Isis made my heart melt. Oh how I wish my husband was that romantic! David is definitely a keeper, and Isis is a lucky girl to have him.

Overall, my favorite part of the whole book is the storyline and its love elements. The theme "love conquers all" is prevalent throughout this book. You must read it if you enjoy paranormal romance novels. The only thing I disliked about the book is that I have to wait until next year for the sequel. I already want to know more about Isis' lineage and whether or not David and Isis will transform. Ugh, I am so impatient.

All in all, I highly recommend this book. You will fall in love with it.

Ceaselessly Yours,
Marisol

Rating- 4.6 STARS!
REVIEW- I want to start this review off by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed Creatura. The pace of the story was constantly altering, not once diverting my attention. The storyline was exceptional and different. I loved how Nely Cab has shown the portrayal of Gods' in a different light, and how the line between humans and Gods is very blurry. Her language, especially, was terrific. The way this story is written is authentic and original. I loved the storyline! Also, the characters were carefully designed, and fit the story perfectly. While I quite liked the character of Isis, my favourite character was Eryx. I liked his subtle yet strong personality, and the way he reacted to all the situations described in the book. On the other hand, I had a slight bit of hesitation with David's character. Maybe this is because he proves a lot of feminist theories right. His possessiveness and tendency to control things really irritated me. However, Cab made up for David's ego, by his romantic gestures towards Isis. One character that confused me was Nyx. While I liked her throughout the book, towards the end, I wasn't so sure anymore of her intentions. This made me even more impatient to read the sequel and know more about her character. In addition to the characters and language, another aspect of the novel which made it more captivating was that, one fact that the main character wasn't aware of, was quite obvious to the audience. It gave a nice thrill to know something the main character didn't. Overall, I really liked this novel. I can't wait for to read the sequel, and have high hopes for it!

****I received a free e-copy of this book in exchange for an HONEST review****

This was one of those books that grabbed me right out of the gate, and that's pretty rare for me. I loved Isis' smart alec attitude and David's admitted cockiness. The family dynamics, struggles, and the entire plot itself was something I was able to get into easily, I didn't have to force myself to keep reading, hoping to get into it! I cannot wait for more of this story, I need to know more about the Chios family and about Isis' lineage, asap! I highly recommend this for anyone who likes paranormal, Greek mythology, or sweet romances in general!

Bob say: 5/5 Platypires!!

Creatura (Creatura, #1) by Nely Cab

Young Isis has been having nightmares for months and it seems she can control her dreams. She is seeing a psychiatrist for the "problem", that is how her mother sees things. But Isis soon realizes that the vision in her dreams is a real boy. One that everyone can see, not just her.

She wants to be the average teen girl, she has her friends, boy troubles everyday problem, but these dreams won't stop, especially the frightening ones. She decides to confront the creature (in her dreams), but soon she begins to learn that things are not as they seem, and she is no ordinary girl.

A fast paced (y/a)romance/fantasy. Isis is likable, some of her everyday problems are real problems that teens face today. The story line was original as well, and the writing was great. I highly recommend to Y/A and Adult readers that love a romantic fantasy.

*This book was gifted to me.

Romantically Mesmeric Page Turner!

My jaw dropped to the floor after I finished reading this book. FLAWLESS. Nely Cab, you have just received another fan!

I love romance books. This one tops my list this year. It is about a young girl named Iris who has suffers from nightmares. A boy appears in them, named David. David tries anything to convince Iris that her dreams were real, so he shocks Iris by showing up in real life. An forbidden love ignites between them and David will risk anything, including his own life to be with Iris.

Creatura is a book that will swoon over. You will find yourself drooling at the presents of David. He is quiet the gentlemen and his old fashioned techniques will have you under his spell in a heart beat. Especially his love notes to Iris...*Sighs*

Nely Cab did a flawless job with this novel. The story was unique and addicting. Your characters were well built. You left me at the edge of my seat at the end. I so desperately need to read the next book!

Overall, this novel was a fast paced reader. I have read it in one sitting. I extremely recommend this book to all ages. Trust me, you do not want to miss out of David. He is a keeper and swoon-worthy!!

I enjoyed this imaginative fantasy. I loved Isis’s youthful voice and the way in which she reacted when she found out the monster haunting her dreams actually came into her waking life. The story is told in a straight-forward way mostly from Isis’s perspective. The suspense and feeing of dread was exceptional in the opening pages. I would have preferred more conflict, and a greater sense of danger as the story progressed. Still I found it to be an engaging start, and I look forward to watching Isis come fully into her powers as the series continues in the next books. It’s an entertaining mix of mythology and fantasy.

This book was given to me in exchange for my honest review.

I was introduced to Nely Cab on social media. The concept of the book piqued my interest as soon as I read the blurb. I am a sucker for mythology and Creatura blended Greek mythology with the views of modern man.
We follow Isis on a journey of being scared to go to sleep for fear that she would meet a creature in her dreams. After a very entertaining dare, she learns that things she thought didn't exist actually DO and his name is David.
David and his family mom, Nyx and the Gemini twins come into the story in addition to Isis' mom Claire.
This was a different kind of paranormal read for me and I read it all in one sitting because I could not put it down!
Not much a fan of cliffhangers, well deal with it. This book is SO good you will want to wait for the next book!

This is my first story that I have read or listened to by Nely Cab and I freaking loved it. This is the first time I’ve actually sat down and listened to an audiobook and the experience was amazing. I will admit I did not get a lot done while listening to the story because I did not want to miss one detail of the story.

I fell in love with the characters and their story. I cannot wait to listen to the sequel. I will definitely recommend Creatura to others. I give it 5/5 Platypires.

Absolutely loved this book. Nely Cab did an awesome job and I cannot wait for the second book.

The book starts of with you meet Isis, who can visit other worlds in her dream but there is a monster there that terrifies her. Then, you meet David a hot sexy god that makes a deal with Isis to keep her from the dream land. His twin brothers show up to help keep David from falling for the mere human.

Of course Isis and David fall in love despite that fact that Isis tries really hard not too and two people show up that cause their love some problems. Then, Isis finds out that maybe she isn't quite human but what is she and will David turn into what she is as well?

If you love gods, creatures, and love then this book is for you and I warn you, you'll want to read the second book..

Isis hasn’t slept in a while, there is a monster in her dreams and it’s not helping matters. But after being medicated she meets her “monster”, turns out he’s a god. David appears in her day to day life and Isis really starts learning interesting things; not just about David, but about herself as well. What will happen with a love that isn’t supposed to be permitted, what will happen to Isis?
This was an interesting story, I really liked the background to David’s family. I would love to see where this goes as I became fascinated by the thought of what may happen with Isis. I really need to see what is going to happen next. I would like to thank Nely Cab for the chance to read and review her book.

Received a copy to read and review. Nely is an amazing writer. I couldn't put Creatura down. It's a page turner. I love the characters and the world that she has created. There are some great twists and turns. We are introduced to Isis. She is one unique person. She can control her dreams but she also finds out some even more interesting things about herself. She sets out to figure out what is happening to her and find out more about her family especially her father. Her friend David goes along with her to help her out. Although there is more to him and his family than meets the eye. The ending is great. It leaves the reader wanting to know about Isis and David. This is one that would be a great addition to any reader's TBR list.

I found this book to be enjoyable and i loved the characters Davis and Isis. The supporting characters, Andy and Billy were pretty cool and enjoyable to read about. As far as story goes, i found the storyline to take a long time to get anywhere. I got to about 70% and the story got a lot more interesting and i didn't want it to end as i was just getting into the story. Davis and Isis's love is forbidden because he is a deity and are not supposed to fall in love with humans but this is what happens for David when he meets Isis. There is alot more to Isis then you think and i loved that part when secrets are revealed. I am really looking forward to reading the next one as the ending of the book will keeping you wanting more.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast read, and I did not want to put it down. The plot was unique and interesting, and the book is very well written. The point of view changed a few times between the two main characters and I liked seeing things from David's eyes. The characters are likeable, and it was easy to sympathize with Isis. There was a cliffhanger ending that made me really wish I had the next one in my hands. I hope to visit with Isis and David again soon. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

I was a little skeptical at first because this isn't a well-known author, but I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with this book. It was exciting, adventurous and romantic! I guarantee anyone will like it. If you're a Twilight fan or Harry Potter fan, it is definitely for you! I've never finished a book so fast. Ahhh, if only it were real.

It is extremely well-written and that is always a plus. So much better than the Twilight Saga. (But I still love it.) I can't wait for the second part!

I read Creatura in a couple of sittings, because I had to know what was about to happen...lol It IS every bit as good as the Twilight series--but it is so unique--definitely not a 'knock off'! I couldn't explain just how multi-dimensional these characters are if I tried! So....READ IT :)

I won this as a free ebook. I first saw the book on facebook and was sucked in by the amazing cover! Which I later found out was designed by the author. What I like best is how real the characters are. I felt like I knew them. I was up half the night reading it and I can't wait for the next one:) Thank you for a "good read" Ms. Nely! I now own the Hardcover!

Tried to pick this up again. Epic failure).
I really wanted to like it...

So I'll start with everything that I liked okay? Because seriously! There were a lot of awesome moments :)

I have to say... I actually started out enjoying it.

The premise of the book was good. I wanted to know what was going on... what was up with the book tittle... I mean... you KNOW my weaknesses right?

Also, there were ONLY 2 specific characters that completely saved the day. I LOVE them both... and yeap... I'm talking about the twins... There has never been a most awesome twin-convo than this one. Believe me...

And last but not least... The FREAKING TITTLE has a play in the story... it was IN the book as it was on it... For me that was worth a million! ^___^

But what went wrong?

I'm so weird when I read books for review... Out of nowhere I get a more critical eye, I take a million notes and then some more... I use so many sticky notes is ridiculous and I take longer to read the books...
So as was expected... I did all that with this book.
Here it goes...

Okay, I can live with a few typos, we're not perfect people but I really wouldn't have minded a little more editing on that part :D They're not AWFUL I just couldn't help but notice.

Then, there was the plot. I don't think that I know, even now after finishing it, what was the whole plot of the story? Was it Isis & David's love? Was it the fact of someone being a 'Creatura'? Was it the discovery of David's nature or of Isis for that matter? Or... was it Gabriel? (There IS a new edition of the book, with added content but the plot doesn't change.)

I was halfway through the book and I still didn't know what the whole plot was :/ or maybe I'm just not smart enough T_T in which case... ~blush~

Then... there were a lot of facts that I couldn't get through with... even in writing fiction they were just TOO unreal for me to actually go along with them... Like,
-Someone's in love with a person she/he doesn't even remember being with in the first place.- Just to mention one...

But in the last few pages... the story picks up... BIG TIME... I still didn't know WHAT exactly was going to happen... BUT months passed in spans of a few short paragraphs... :'( it was hard to keep up with all the timing at the end I almost felt rushed :/
**********
All in all, I still say you should see for yourself if the book is to your liking...
Just proceed with caution.

This was my first book by author Nely Cab and I am so mad at myself for waiting so long to start them!! This book grabbed my attention right from the very start and never let it go! I was instantly hooked and became immersed in the dream world as well as the waking world that was Isis Martin! The author does an amazing job of transporting us into her world and I never wanted to leave! She takes us on a roller coaster ride of emotions and every loop, curve and twist is unexpected. There is no way for the reader to predict what was going to happen next!!

Isis thought that her nightmares were never ending and that there was someone or something out to get her - it wasn't until she confronted her fears that she realized that her nightmare may actually be her dream guy....or is it? Enter David and his family who are a bit overwhelming but at the same time amazing, but at the same time enter Gabriel, her ex-boyfriend who is a bit crazy and may be trying to harm both Isis and David.

This is an amazing read that will have you one-clicking the next book in the series as soon as you complete this one! You will need to know what is going to happen to your new best friends - be prepared to accomplish nothing because this series will completely take over your life!! Sit back, enjoy and spend some time in this amazing world!!

Love the lore displayed within the pages of this novel. Once started it is hard to put down, with romance and suspense, the ultimate sacrifice. I really got swept up with all of the possibilities. I am not sure of the ending though, still reeling with how it ended and am looking forward to getting book two and three. I would recommend the series to anyone looking for something new and intriguing.
