I was very happy to return to Bascom, North Carolina and the magical world of the Waverley women. I absolutely love Sarah's writing style and her gift that makes it so easy to get completely lost in her stories. This was the most satisfying sequel I've ever read and I can only hope that there will be a few more additions to the series.

I LOVE Sarah Addison Allen. Her books are fun and quirky, but if you haven't read Garden Spells, then I recommend reading it first because this is sort of a sequel. I don't normally read books more than once, but I will with her books. If you've read her and know of other authors that are similar, please comment on this and let me know who they are! Thanks!

Every time a new Sarah Addison Allen book comes out I am overcome with happiness, and that was doubled with this book, because we get to visit the Waverly's again! My favorite family, and the tree! :)
Yes, this is the book I clutch to my chest, gaze off into the distance and sigh, when finished.

No one writes a satisfying tale like Sarah Addison Allen. It was lovely to revisit the characters from Garden Spells, which is still one of my all time favorites. This was a perfect book to curl up in bed with on a cold rainy night.

Sarah Addison Allen is an amazing story teller whose books take you away to a wonderful place. The Waverley Women are such great characters that you can't help but fall in love with them. Reading any of Ms. Addison Allen's books are like eating the most decadent of desserts and you can't help but be a little sad when they're over. Now if you'll excuse me I need to make some pepper and fig bread!!

Sarah's books always bring the unexpected and delightful read… I first read garden spells years ago, and as soon as I started reading first frost I realize it was by the same author, not by her name but by the style of writing. She writes like no other and as quickly become a favorite!

Perhaps it's the cast of characters, this particular group of people are her best and provide the most interesting stories. I was hesitant to buy this book because I did not think it could live up to Garden Spells, but it certainly did. Great job!

Quick read. Full of family love and taking care of each other. Coming of age story and middle age sisters "coming of age" in dealing with not being able to get pregnant, and elderly preparing for death.

I love Sarah Addison Allen books. I usually read them in between book club books, as they read fast and always make me happy. This one is no exception. I love the story development of these women and their family magic that is different to each of them. Great easy read, perfect when traveling and need to get lost in a sweet story

First Frost was a great follow up to Garden Spells. It was entertaining, well written, imaginative; all without being too stressful.

Listening to this book helped get me happily through a number of chores that I would not otherwise have enjoyed.

Sarah Addison uses words like a paintbrush. She not only paints the landscape of the world she creates, she paints portraits of the characters including their hearts, souls, joys, and fears. She is on my must read author list now.

Sarah Addison Allen never disappoints. Once I pick up one of her books it is very hard to put it down until it's finished. This little gem is no exception. Her characters are always relatable and you become attached like they are old friends. A little sprinkling of magic is so welcomed and different and keeps me looking forward impatiently for her next book.

Even though it seems to be a predictable, and maybe even teenager-ish, kind of book, as you keep reading it is soooo much more! It is a magical, emotional tour through the lives of these Waverley women that will inspire you. I just loved it!!!!
