This book is one of the best, no the best book I have ever read. The characters are perfect in every way Hanley develops them. this book was the only book (chapter book that is) that I have read in one sitting. I can't believe how perfect this book is! The romance was just enough without getting sappy or leaving the reader dissapointed. Vesputo is the best kind of villain: The truly evil and powerhungry kind. I admired every word or thing that Landen did, and Torina is the best princess character since Cimerene. Read it, I command you to!

I read this book at sleepaway camp and COULDN'T put it down! All i wanted to do all day is read this book, it was THAT good! I have definetly decided that its my all time favorite book. I had my mom, sister, and friends read it and they all really like it. This book has everything you could ever want. Theres always action and the plot is so twisted and enchanting. The charaters are so real too. I hope everyone who comes to this page reads this book because its the best book and everyone is missing out.

I loved the Seer and the Sword, not only did I love it but I gave it to my friends and they loved it. Although it is not a war centered book, I gave it to my war loving friend and she liked so musch she gave it to her mother to read. There has been one person out of thirty that has not adored this book. That is also shone by winning the Colorado book award, and it is in the running for at least five other state awards, this book, is truly a work of art.

This book had a good plot and it flowed smoothly but it had no detail in my opinion. It just didn't grab me or feel real.
Don't get me wrong and think that this isn't an okay book but I read ALOT and the seer and the sword was certainly not the best book I've every read. If you see it in the library or something I encourage you to read it. But it isn't worth buying.

I REALLY enjoyed this book. I read it in 1 day, because I couldn't put it down. The thing that made this book different from all the other fantasy books I've read is...... IT ACTUALLY MADE SENSE!! Everything any character did, did it for a logical reason, and made the characters more understandable. This is Victoria Hanley's first childrens book, so wherever it says "12 and up", it means, "12 and up".

I honestly did not expect much from this book. I never doubted it would be good, but I thought the plot would be hackneyed and predictable. Well, I was wrong. I just finished reading it. It's definitely a keeper and fans of fantasy will not be disappointed.

seer and the sword is the best love story ever written. landen and torina go through so much, and their hearts are tested more and more as the book unfolds. theres trechery and heartach and battles and through it all, even when landen thinks torina is dead, he still loves her withall his heart. oh you will not believe how much you feel when you read this book. he is the hero you will love too, and you feel all the pain he has to endur.

I have read over 300 books in the last 2 years and this is one of the best. The characters are absolutely amazing and the plot incredible. You will love the characters Landen and Torina. They pull you into a story filled with adventure, romance, and murder. This is truly a one of a kind fantasy book. This books has many overlapping plots, and many interesting twists to it.

This was a great book. Every page had a new adventure on it. The characters became vivid pictures in my mind. At first it was confusing because the difrenet character points of view would change quickly. One minuet the character you were reading about was Torina, and then it was Laden. You really have to keep up with the names. But otherwise, it was surprising right up untill the last page. I sugjest this to people who love fantasy.

In The Seer and the Sword, Victoria Hanley takes us into the kingdom of Archeld, where Princess Torina, the strong, intelligent female protagonist, leads us on a quest for freedom, order, and love. The book is promoted as a fantasy for young readers, and, indeed, this young reader (over 40), a non-fantasy reader, found it engaging from beginning to end.
I can't wait for Hanley's second novel.

I could not put this book down from the very moment I got it. IT's a great book to read especilly if you are into fantasy and princess losing their homes and to be recuse by a prince but only that the princess saves the prince on many times. This is a great book great to read for pleasure.

I really didn't like this. The idea for the seer was interesting enough, I suppose, but it wasn't executed well. And Vesputo... first of all, who the heck names a character Vesputo? It screams cliche. Anyways, he was just sort of... semi-evil. Like he was trying too hard to be manical and ended up looking like a video-game obsessed member of Generation X with the goatee and the shirt that says "I AM THE VILLAN" or some other rot like that. It just didn't work. And the whole... 'random assasination of the king' thing wasn't done that well. I had to read it twice, because I was like "Eh? What the *heck* just happened here?". And the romance was something that you'd expect a third grader to write... the handsome prince suddenly shows up after a few hundred pages and it's all "MY LOVE!" and they haven't seen each other for what, a decade or so? It's kind of ridiculous. So all in all, it's something like three and a half stars for concept, minus two for execution. But the store doesn't let me do half stars.

This is a great book. It's got everything you could wish for--fantasy, romance, adventure...the list goes on and on! I gave this book only four stars because while it's good, it's not wonderful, and the writing isn't great. It's a good read for any fantasy fan, though.

I am an avid reader of all sorts but fantasy has always had a special place in my heart. This is one of my favorites. It is an excellent balence of elements to pull together a great story. There is also a hint of romance which I personaly feel makes a story more interesting.

I don't know what all the five star are for, to me, this novel was really boring. Like some people mentioned in other reviews, the main character was pretty annoying for a heroine that readers are supposed to like. I voted three stars, because I guess young children, like under twelve, would probably think it was good, but older children like fourteen would probably find it boring.

I really expected more from this book. It's fairly pleasant, and the premise of the plot is interesting, but the writing is just not that captivating. The way the plot unfolds is really contrived, too.
