I am a fan of the series. Honestly, I thought it was a very good read, although frustrating between Dylan and Fang. I love Fang, but this book kind of makes you like Dylan a little too. However, the wait for the last book is much too long! JP ends "Angel" with a massive cliffhanger! And we have to wait a flippin' YEAR to find out what happens! Other than unresolved issues and a frustrating romantic plot, this book was a pretty good one. Not the best of the series, but it definitely holds your attention. It even makes you open up to other characters (like Dylan).

This book made me ridiculously angry. When the book ended I was completely frustrated, the book wouldn't leave my mind for a few days! I then thought that maybe that was James Patterson's plan; to leave us here dying to know more. If that was the case then he did a job well done, if not then the book was still good but irritating.

I think I enjoyed this book more than all the others. While quite a few new characters are introduced, to me, they didn't detract from the story but added more action and a bit more depth. The love triangle fight between Max, Fang and Dylan was a good add as well (although I admit, I suppose I'm still getting used to lovey-dovey Max as opposed to the side that just likes to kick butt and take names but as it's mentioned in the books, the girl is changing...guess I need to get with the program, xD).
I suppose my favorite part would have to be the One Light/Doomsday Group rally held at Ella's school. Not sure if the obsession of the characters to the cause was supposed to be funny or not, but I got many a good laugh from that; I'm still chuckling about it!
Too bad the next book will supposedly be the last, but the series has gone on long enough. I'll miss it though. I've greatly enjoyed these books. Here's to hoping that they actually do make a movie(s) for it!

James Patterson you dog you. You give us one of the greatest books in the series since book one. Then you have the nerve to leave us with a cliff hanger that won't be resolved until 2012 thank you very much! In alll seriousness this is one the best books in the series. Please get book 8 out asap.

This book brought back some memories and i loved how it was written. I have noticed how this book isn't written as well as the other Maximum Ride books but i still loved it anyways. I was hoping that there would be more of the 2 gangs (Fang's and Max's) clashing, and that the book would be lengthier but ahh well. This book is brilliant just as the other Maximum Ride books. Although, I have to add 3 words: Team Dylan FINALLY!!!

i also thought this series should have stopped after the third book but i really loved this book. definitely the best book since saving the world and other extreme sports...the plot was really exciting and there was lots of character development. again, i loved it!

I was really frustrated with Fang in this book. I was so aggravated at Fang at times that I started to really like Dylan and his sweet and caring behavior. Angel was amazing in this book and I love her! (Which is funny because after the last book I practically hated her) She really kept the flock strong and together. The "fang gang" was getting on my nerves, especially the fact that he leaves the flock and than immediately replaces them. Yet, overall I really enjoyed this book, I just didn't like how over the top emotional Max was, and how Patterson seems to be dragging the same plot out way to long. Yet, he has another book to make up for the long series, so I wait.....

Loved loved love this next book, need to know what happens next. I agree that JP seems wishy-washy over who Max should choose, but I'm leaning towards Dillon because Fang annoys me more. Worst cliff-hanger ending ever, and JP didn't even have the sense to let me continue disliking Angel, little brat managed to worm her way into my heart. ;-;
Definitely can not wait for the next book. Please don't disappoint!

This is the 7th of a series of Maximum Ride. But this time Max and Fang start out seperated. Max, has her old gang and Fang gathers a new group of kids with different powers. They join forces to fight the Doomsday Group. This group want to kill off all humans. Another, interesting and fun book to read. Second to the end of the series. Read to find out what happens and what plans they have for Max, Fang, Dylan, and Angel.

I don't know if it is because it has been so long since I have read "Fang" or if this series is dragging on and beginning to be less appealing. "Angel" by James Patterson was just alright to me. It wasn't great. It wasn't fantastic. It was just alright. As much as I wanted to love this story, my heart wasn't in it as the reader. I read the story from start to finish, but I didnt' feel as engaged or enthralled by the story line as I have in the past. I really don't feel like the book completely flowed properly. There was a lot of choppiness and incompleteness. There was a lot of storyline that I wasn't totally sur fit into the book either.
"Angel" by James Patterson follows Max and the gang during part and then Fang and his new gang during the other parts. The reader was going back and forth between Max and Fang and what was going on in everyone's life. Now there is a group called Doom's Day group that is trying to take over the world and kill all the humans. Max and her group and Fang and his group end up teaming up together to defeat the new villains. Everything seems to be eery as the story goes on.
I feel as if the characters are losing themselves as life goes on. Max is less sarcastic and attitudish. She is way more calm and has become consumed with her own thoughts. I miss the kick butt Max that we had at the beginning on the series. I feel like Max is growing up but not in a good way. She isn't staying the same genuine character that everyone loves.
The one character that did seem to improve was Dylan. I actually grew to like Dylan in this book. I know in "Fang," Dylan was really annoying and I just reallly wanted him to go away, but I feel the completely opposite in "Angel." I actually feel like Fang has become the annoying guy character that loves Max and Dylan has become the more favorable loving one.
I am starting to feel like maybe Maximum Ride should be retired. I don't feel like the storyline is getting any better. It seems to be getting worst. I was reallly looking forward to this book and now I am not even sure that I want to read the last one. I do have to say on a much happpier note that if you listen to the audiobook, it gets pretty fun. The audiobook has a lot of sound effects, so it feels like youa re in the middle of the action yourself.

The bird kids are back! Now in their seventh audiobook, Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gassy, and Angel are still doing what they do best: saving the world. Or at least that's what they're trying to do, but it's pretty hard when one evil genius after another keeps threatening.
This time it's the Doomsday Group. At first glance, the DG doesn't seem like a bad little bunch at all. Just like the bird kids, they want to save the world. Unfortunately, the best way they can think of to save the world is to kill all the humans that are destroying it. You gotta love their motto: "Save the world, kill the humans!"
Well, I'm sorry to say that Angel isn't my favorite Maximum Ride novel. The first three books in the series had a pretty good plot, lots of great action, and some very likeable main characters. Books 4 through 6 had the same fun characters, and the action, but no plot. Book 7? Well, at least the bird kids are still here. The mutant-freak, butt-kicking action scenes have all but disappeared. Also, my favorite bird-kid, Nudge, plays a very small role in this one.
There are some positives to focus on, however. The new guy, Dylan, is now becoming an accepted member of the flock, replacing Fang who has gone out on his own. Fang is not out of the picture though. Using his extremely popular blog, Fang has recruited a gang of his own, adding new characters Star, Kate, Ratchet, Holden, and Maya a k a Max 2. These new characters are not bird-kids, but they are mutants with special abilities of their own. They actually form a pretty likeable group, and look to become permanent members of the cast.
Rebecca Soler, who is about the fourth different narrator for the Maximum Ride series, did a pretty good job. She has sort of a raspy sounding voice that felt right for Max. I especially enjoyed Soler's characterization of the Doomsday Group members. They are all a bunch of kids who have been brainwashed and are kind of spacey. Rebecca Soler did a kind of tour-guide Barbie voice for these characters that sounded very appropriate and pretty funny too.
Okay, Angel is not my favorite Maximum Ride book, but still pretty entertaining. And apparently James Patterson is not ready to end the ride just yet. Angel ends with a big bang, literally, and not all of the bird kids are present and accounted for when the smoke clears. Ooh James, you're so cruel!

Angel is the second to the last novel in James Patterson's Maximum Ride series. Re-reading the series, for me, has been a bumpy ride. I loved the series when I first read all of the books, but I think that now that I am older, I've kind of outgrown these books. I think they are fantastic books for younger readers and young teens, but I think as an adult, they aren't as powerful or fulfilling. With that said, Angel was a good book and written much better then the last few books in the series.
With Angel, I was able to follow the plot line a little bit more then I could with the last two books...but it was still confusing. This series has changed so much since the first book that it has become difficult keeping everything straight and focused. Angel starts about a week after Fang has left and Max isn't the happiest person, obviously. Even through her depression, she is still training Dylan, the newest (and creepiest) member of their flock, who was also "made" specifically for Max.
When Angel tells everyone that Dr. Gunther-Hagen is coming, the flock finds out some new, interesting and disturbing, information. Max is again appointed the leader and Max is also told that she has to breed with Dylan. I seriously almost put the book back down at this point because the thought of Max being told she has to breed was absurd given her age. But I stuck through it to see what would happen. Again.
Things become even more strange when we met up again with Fang, who is forming his own flock. There is an introduction of a bunch of new characters with various abilities, including Ratchet, Squibb, Star, Kate, and Maya. Fang and Maya seem to hit it off way too quickly and they both have feelings for each other and Fang quickly learns how difficult being a leader really is. I personally hated how James Patterson waited until the second to the last book to introduce a whole bunch of new characters, as well as a new love interest for Fang. I can see long-time fans of this series being seriously ticked off about the whole Fang-Max-Maya-Dylan mess.
Unfortunately, the two flocks must come together to put an end to the Doomsday Group in Paris who are planning to kill themselves to save the planet. I still don't know how exactly this group, or why exactly this group thought that by killing themselves, would save the planet, but whatever. This is fiction. There is obviously some major tension between all of the characters, especially Max and Fang and nothing of course, goes to plan. There are bombs placed where the group is to meet, and everything falls apart when Gazzy isn't able to disarm them. Angel is missing and separated from her flock, but the epilogue shows that she is still alive.
As I've stated before, this book was better, but not much. The plot line is still too confusing even for someone like me who has now read all of the books that are out back-to-back. There are still too many side-plot lines that have been thrown to the wayside, never to be resolved, and character development is minimal at best.
I'm still looking forward to the last and final book in the series, mostly just because I need to see how it will all end and because I've been reading this series since for years. It is far from perfection, but I'll give it credit. It is entertaining.

No spoilers!! :)
SUMMARY -
Max is having a crisis. Not physical, but emotional. Fang, after dying and coming back to life, as left. Left her and her Flock. He left her a love letter on his bed and just disappeared. Now he has his own gang, and Max must move without him. There's a doomsday group, talking about the One Light - hope - and hypnotizing people toward their cause. What is their cause? And will following the D-day group lead Max to Fang once again?
MY THOUGHTS -
There were some choppy parts of this book, some random scenes that didn't lead to or from anything. But most of the time I was into the story and excited to know more about the root of the situation, despite the cheesiness of the root. I don't know how James Patterson is going to wrap this up in one more book, but honestly I can't wait. I read this nearly a year ago and still have a month left until I get my hands on book #8! This book is like a tease!
Again, I really, really love the characters. And again, they're the reason I'm sitll here. I would've stopped at book #4 if I hadn't been totally in love with Max, Fang, and the rest of the Flock. I was then, and I am now. They are really amazing to read about.
The story this time was good, even though it had the usual "out-of-nowhere" feel. But it was enjoyable, intense, and heartwrenching. I'd say sadder than the last book, which was pretty darn sad. :( I NEED TO KNOW!!!!!!
This book reminds me of...
Teasing
Terrible covers
Infuriatingly LONG gaps between books
Really exasperating love triangles that you wish would just DISINTEGRATE, but you also love at the same time
Cheesy D-day crap (lol)
For the Parents -
Some kissing...maybe some minor cussing. Recommended 12+

This is a book series I have been following for years, but it is definitely worth the wait.
This basic synopsis for the series is this: Evil scientist experimented on creating a human/animal hybrid. They kept a group of children in cages to experiment on until these kids escaped, determined not to be used as a weapon. Maximum Ride, or Max, is the leader of this gang that includes Fang, Gasman, Izzie and other lovable characters including Angel, the youngest, creepiest, and most unknown entity. In previous installments, Max and the gang have saved the world together but their happy family starts to fracture when Max and Fang can't keep their romantic tension under control. Their relationship is just too explosive. What makes the romance even tougher is the introduction of a character named Dylan, a hybrid who was created to be the perfect match for Max. It's hard to compete with someone else's soul mate, even a manufactured one. Fang and Max have to bring their two tribes together to conquer an unknown enemy.
This series is the perfect example of the enigma that is James Patterson. When he wants to (alone!!), he can write a book that can blow your mind. Then, he turns into a complete sell-out and just slaps his name on some crap someone else writes. This one is the first kind of Patterson, the true Patterson genius. I absolutely love this series, from its short chapters to its scathing comebacks to an impossible love triangle and so much more.
The ending, of course, means I'll come back for more.

Angel is the seventh book in the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. With Fang absent and apparently forming a flock of his own, Max and the Flock are at her mother's place in Arizona when Jeb Batchelder and Dr Hans Gunther-Hagen turn up to convince fifteen-year-old Max, who is pining for Fang, that she needs to a) lead the mutant survivors in the world after the imminent Apocalypse and b) create chicks with her perfect mate, Dylan. Before long, they are in a plane headed to the School when the Gen 77 mutants have been developed. Fang gathers his gang through his blog, and it includes the Max clone, now calling herself Maya. The Doomsday Group seem to have gathered a large following and their catchcry is Save The World. Kill The Humans. After six books, the megalomaniac evil scientist plot is wearing rather thin, and Max and the Flock strike me as incredibly naïve/stupid/gullible to be taken in by the baddies yet again. And really, a cold shower or a high-pitched noise as a cure for mass hypnosis? Please! Max abandons her half-sister Ella twice in this instalment; there are unexplained dramatic incidents that just seem to be a showcase for the flock's abilities; the whole thing is getting terribly lame. Will I outlay cash for the final instalment, Nevermore? Not likely. Will I borrow and read it? Yes, but only in the hope that Mr Patterson will do the merciful thing and kill the whole bunch off. This is woeful stuff, Mr Patterson! Pull your literary socks up, please.

I generally don't review books in a series without reviewing the books before it, except I figured that you didn't want a review of a book that I barely remembered! So, a fair warning right now. If you haven't read all the other books in the series, don't read this review. It may be fairly spoilery.
Angel was a bit of a disappointment for me. After the big bang that Fang ended with, I was expecting something bigger. More dramatic. More heartbreaking.
I suppose it was heartbreaking in a way, though. What with Dylan becoming closer to Max (and I being completely and utterly Team Fang), I was devastated. My love for Max has diminished greatly. I used to love her witty quips and hilarious moments (and I still do, to some extent), except now Max's take on things have become less important to me. She's become sillier. Confused and addled, I admit, but sillier.
On the other hand, I loved Angel's development from bossy seven-year-old to caring and mature kid. At the end of Fang, I definitely wasn't as big a fan of Angel as I used to be. But Angel increased my respect for the little seven-year-old girl with each act of kindness she did for Max and the flock.
The plot of the book was generally good, though a little silly. Seriously, a Doomsday group? Full of kids? Not realistic. Especially since the kids are hypnotized. But I enjoyed watching Max and the flock use kick-butt methods to try to defeat the cult. And with the ending of this book, I have a feeling that James Patterson is getting fond of cliffhangers.
All in all, though I was generally disappointed with the overall plot and romance, I think Angel would be a good read for any paranormal romance lover, though you might find it different from the regular PR.

Summary:
In the seventh book in the bestselling series, evil scientists are still trying to convince Max that she needs to save the world, this time by providing the genetic link in speeding up the pace of evolution. Worse, they're trying to convince her that her perfect mate is Dylan, the newest addition to the flock. The problem is that, despite herself, Max is starting to believe it.
Fang travels the country collecting his own gang of evolved humans, but the two separate flocks must unite to defeat a frightening doomsday cult whose motto is Save the Planet: Kill the Humans. And this time, the true heroine, for once, might just be little Angel.
My Review:
I was so totally torn about this book. I really didn't like the end. I didn't like the things leading up. But after the enormously bad two books before FANG (which i loved) i had to say James is putting slightly more thought into the books. Fang was amazing, Fang was everything i would've expected in such a pivitol book. It has been one of the few times i cried.
But this book lacked adrenaline. Sure, i was excited in parts, there were bombs and explosions and riots and pistols and roundhouse kicks, but James didn't give Max and her flock tasks that really were totally intense and totally engrossing and believeable. It was like a filler, James is just waiting to give us the last book, NEVERMORE.
The biggest problem with this book was the relationship between Max and Fang. There was no thought process about the relationship. the end of FANG was epic, i mean, really, best. ending. ever! And i jumped into this book expecting Max to be some totally broken...totally all over the place because Fang is gone...
Well, all of a sudden Fang is back. The build up isn't even there. Fang just comes to her. No more promise about the twenty years, he just decided to get up one day and totally ruin that brilliant letter he wrote, that amazingly amazingly AWESOMELY HEARTFELT letter that he ripped Max apart with. And then, when Max sees him, she doesn't even react the way i thought she should've. She just sees him, is like OHMIGAWD, and then is fine.
I was expecting some major making out, or maybe some big hugging or tears of anxiety or shock. But Max didn't do anything when she saw Fang. It was like: i thought i wasn't going to see this guy for twenty years, he suddenly wants to see me again. WOOHOO! I've seen him. That was great...
Well at least the end was amazing. The first cliffhanger ending of the series. Pretty intense, with so many loose ends i'm suprised James is ending the series.
It's time for this series to end. I'm excited for NEVERMORE, the last book, but i'm horribly nervous it's going to be a big blunder ending to a series that has become quite lame.

Where do I begin? I would have to say that Angel is right up there with book six, as far as how good it is. I think I actually might of liked Angel a little bit more. It seems like things are just getting so much more exciting as the series comes to a close, which is somewhat surprising because you would expect that with the next to last book things would be starting to wind down and start leading to the conclusion of the series. You just don't really see that in my opinion. There are some huge changes that take place in this book that leaves you questioning how the series could possibly be wrapped up in book eight.
This book probably has the most plot twists out of all of them, which as I mentioned was a little surprising because you would figure James would want to start trying to bring everything to a close. As you know in book six, some major changes happen to the flock at the very end and Fang has to make a really tough choice that he feels is the right thing to do. After doing that, Max is left trying to keep everything together and make sure the flock is alright. I'm not going to go into to much detail with what happens with Fang and the people he meets, simply because I don't want to spoil anything in this book but I will say that things get pretty crazy. And the Doomsday Group in this book is insane, I don't even know where to begin trying to explain how insane these people are. They aren't very happy when the flock gets involved though, and I think you all might be surprised with who else gets involved and helps the flock.
It's going to be really tough to talk about the new characters in this book, because they are very spoiler heavy. I wish I could talk about them, because there are a few great ones. And a old face is back again in this book to, I think readers will be really surprised with who it is. The new characters are really interesting though, especially considering some of the things they can do. Let's just say one of them is quite strong.. and there are also some other interesting abilities mixed in there. As the title suggests, there is a ton of focus on Angel in this book. I have been skeptical of her for several books now, but she is one of those characters that you really can't help but like. It's just really amazing to see how far she has come as a character, and all the new abilities she has gained over time and then the ones she already had which have really enhanced. I am really curious to see how exactly things will work out for her in the end of the series. I really underestimated her in the beginning of the series because at the start she is pretty quiet. It wasn't until about half way in that she really started becoming more pronounced within the series.
Things between Max and Dylan also start to get pretty interesting. You're dropped with a pretty big question to. Is it possible that the people that got the avian genes were matched with another person that got the genes? And if so, what could that mean? Max and Dylan are never extremely close, they are friends but you can really tell that Max still has strong feelings for Fang. I like how that question came up in the book though, because it really makes you wonder who is meant to be together. Not that this book is really about the romance, it's just a nice little touch I guess. And it's all made more interesting with the returning character that I mentioned above. And I am almost positive that it's probably not who you're thinking it is, I was really surprised when the video scene came up and I saw who it was.
As I mentioned above, I was somewhat expecting this book to start wrapping some things up. But in all honesty, there isn't much of anything that is wrapped up. If anything, you're just left with a lot more questions. Especially after the epilogue involving Angel, I mean seriously... what was going on there? It was extremely vague, and has me really wanting to get my hands on the final book to figure out exactly what is going on. I am really excited to see how the series is concluded, but I am also nervous because I really don't want to be left with unanswered questions. And it's not like the questions I have are obscure, they all surround the main plot line. I just really hope that James pulls through with Nevermore and ends this already epic series in an amazing way that only he could pull off.

ANGGGEEEELLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! okay I'm done. I really liked this one. I think that its better than the last 2-3 books of the series and it was quite enjoyable. I really enjoyed learning more about Dylan and Max. I really enjoyed the mystery of who the Doomsday Cult is and that even at the end the mystery of what is happening to Angel. I can't wait to see what the next book is going to be very, very interesting. I also hope that the next one is going to be the last because I think it would be a great full circle with the first book in the series.
I really enjoyed the different perspectives of Angel, Max, Fang, and Dylan. I thought that Angel grew a lot as a character and also Max II aka Maya grew as a character as well. I was a little suspicious of her but she grew on me. I also really hope that the puppeteer is a character that was introduced as the spokesperson but then spokespeople are never the people behind the curtain.
Some other things that I really enjoyed were the action and fight scenes as well as the emotional turmoil/ love triangle happening between Max, Dylan, and Fang.
I also really enjoyed the different locations visited. I love Paris and I want to go there someday.

I have been reading the series since it first came out. I fell in love with the first book. OMG. It was all I could talk about for the longest time. I felt like the first book showed Max and the rest of the flock as true fighters against supernatural stuff I guess you could say as well as sticking together and being a real team. The series was great up until we all come to find that they are meant to save the planet... literally. I'm all for saving the planet and trying to end global warming, but I think it was just lame. I'm sorry James Patterson, I love you and your writing, but I just do not get the point in them trying to save the planet. I just really do not like it when supernatural stuff gets mixed in with real life stuff. Maybe it's just me...
I don't like how Fang left the rest of the flock.
I really don't like Dylan.
I HATE how Max says she doesn't like Dylan and then goes about kissing him! Make up your mind.
This recent book left a lot of stuff unanswered.
What happened to Jeb and Max's mom?
What happened to Dr. Hans?
The end of the book with Angel strapped down seems like it could be book of its own!
I am just hoping the last book ties everything together. It was such a great series and it had so much potential. Also, what in the world is up with the people on cover and on the commercials who look nothing like the characters in the book?!

Book Review: Angel by James Patterson
This continues the `Maximum Ride' series, children who were experimented on and turned into bird children. This book is slow to start and I found myself irritated by Max's attraction to Dylan. Her long time love and enigmatic character Fang, has left the flock and gone out to start his own. He teams up with Max's clone and is drawn to her while continuousl
y reminding himself that she is not Max.
The first half seems devoted to these developing relationships which go against all we have come to expect in the earlier books. Also Angel, the youngest child, has had a personality change. At the beginning of the series she was sweet, innocent and very gifted. By the last book `Fang' she was obnoxious and anxious to take over the flock. Now she's back to being sweet and innocent with no obvious cause. The cover image also show a girl of about fourteen whereas Angel is seven.
All the above prove irritating until the second half when the plot finally takes off and the two flocks join forces against the Doomsday Group who want every child to become a genetic mutation and kill anyone who isn't.
Somehow Max's parents are involved but by the end of the book we don't find out how.
Overall, mixed feelings about this book but I would still read the next.

Honesty I felt like this book was rushed, and I think the series should have ended with the book Fang. Fang was the last book of the series I actually enjoyed. For the most part both Angel and Nevermore felt like repetition of past event, and I've only read Two or three chapters of Maximum Ride Forever but it too felt like repetition of the past events that took place in the other books. After reading this book I'm not sure I want to finish reading Maximum Ride Forever.

I was easily hooked into this series, and I loved it right from the start. James Patterson has done an amazing job with this very interesting story. And I read all the books with great joy really. And I would have given it five stars, if and only if James Patterson had done a better job at connecting some things in the book.. Sometimes the things that happened in the earlier books had nothing to do with the last books... And the end of last book was quite ridiculous and I didn't like it that much... But it's a good series, it was a bit depressing time to time but it definitely draws you in and gets you mesmerized to read them.

Okay. So the first three maximum ride books i thought were amazing. Of course that was like two years ago so im beginning to reconsider my judgement but thats aside the point. The final warning was pretty much awful but it was getting a bit back on track with Max and Fang. Of course it would have been nice if would have made the first three books with more value than just surviving and finding your stupid birth parents plus just either taking out the fourth book or making it better would have been nice but I forgive Paterson. Im very very forgiving. But Im furious with Patterson for this dumb book.
First of all this book was entirely random. Patterson is just desperate for a plot now. Which is probably why he resorted to the most unoriginal plot possible. I mean SERIOUSLY! (spoilers alert). The whole idea of hypnotized kids and 'the one light' is just stupid.
Oh and I am hating Fang right now. I thought he was all Maxs true lover and sweet and now he just goes off and repplaces everyone with other mutated kids. And Angel! I hate her to. I dont know how Patterson thinks he can make Angel can go from pointing a gun at Maxs head to going back to the sweet loyal Angel always by Maxs side.
My advice dont read this book. Dont waste yor money or your time on it.

Fang has left, and Max, hurt and bewildered, has no idea how to function anymore. She knows that the world still needs saving - that life is bigger than just the two of them - but it is one thing to say it and another to believe it.
When the deserter, he-whose-name-must-never-be-mentioned, suddenly fires a call their way out of the blue, Max, Dylan, and the gang are dragged into yet another plot for world domination - or, in this case, mass destruction. The Doomsday Group has suddenly sprung up out of nowhere. With its hypnotic figurehead, the DG is gaining followers fast. After witnessing a group rally, the two groups led by Max and Fang journey to the DG's headquarters in an attempt to crush the cult right at its roots.
Never underestimate a group of crazed and fanatical humans, even if they aren't genetically enhanced, even if they aren't the future of mankind, as the DG have started to call Max and her little group. The future of mankind, huh? That is quite a title.
Followers of the MAXIMUM RIDE series have come a long way, from Max's first discovery of her real identity to the various times her gang has successfully thwarted a crazed scientist or politician of some sort. ANGEL, this newest installment of the series, brings forth with it yet another villain to eradicate, which makes it feel as if the former books of the series don't matter at all plot-wise. However, Max has not lost her sarcastic touch and gangstah attitude, and the presence of Dylan creates - yes, you guessed it - a love triangle.
Really, Mr Patterson, I expected more of you. MAXIMUM RIDE started out as a fresh new series and has now been reduced to just another teen paranormal novel, in terms of characterization, at least.
While the plot of this book grabbed the reader's attention, there was not much depth to it. Even so, I could not resist reading the novel in one sitting, so I suppose I shouldn't be complaining. I did feel like Mr. Patterson was making too much of an effort to sound like a teen girl, though. Yes, Max is fifteen, but like, teen girls don't like, OMG, add in a "like" every few words when they like, talk, you know? I was fifteen four months ago. Trust me; I know what I'm talking about.
Despite all that, MAXIMUM RIDE is addictive and a very fun series to read. I know it seems as if I butchered every aspect of ANGEL, but still, I will not hesitate to obtain a copy of the next book in the series when it is published.
We have a weird relationship, Max and I.

Okay, first of all, all the characters in this book are off. Iggy is suddenly in love with Ella, who I thought was like 12. Here's Fang being a jerky buttheaded annoyance and falling in love with max II (oh, I'm sorry, Maya. She is, after all, a 'unique individual'). I only heard from nudge for about two lines, and shes the talkative one who can't under ANY circumstances be quiet. Gazzy is just... he's likable and had more to offer in this book, but he was just acting... too old. Max is being an emotional reck. Her mom is suddenly on 'their side.'
And then theres Dylan.
Dylan. The random character popping out of nowhere in the last book before this.(It's the trylle trilogy all over again, you know, with wendy being with Loki instead of Finn!)You spend so much time getting Max and Fang together, and then in a blink of the eye, BAM! They are apart and Max ends up being with this random guy 'created for her.'
Sorry James Patterson, not your best. By FAR.

I first want to say that I have been reading this series since it came out - I was 13 when The Angel Experiment was released and am now a senior in college, so I've stuck it out for quite a long while for this series. I initially wasn't going to read this installment because the previous books were quite disappointing, but I love Max and friends and had some spare time, so I gave it a go.
I was actually pleasantly surprised. I mean, there were still many problems with the book, but it wasn't nearly as soapy as Fang and less preachy than The Final Warning. The story was really about Max, and I quite like Max, so I didn't really miss the rest of the flock. I think the biggest problem with the book is that it attempted to stay too current. Mentions of Robert Pattinson and Zac Efron took me out of the story. The visit to Comic Con really bugged me because it seemed to be simply taking advantage of something that is trendy right now. (A nitpicky thing, but it mentioned that Ella was in school, but Comic Con takes place in July every year! Fact checking is important!).
I also liked that there wasn't a ridiculous amount of action in this book. I mean, I like a good fight as much as the next person, but previous books seemed to have a big fight scene every other chapter, so I appreciated the change in this book. The action was tastefully done, although the suspense could have been a little bit better.
Like most of the Max Ride books, the ending was not exactly satisfying, but it did convince me to purchase the last installment when it is released, so I guess it did its job. I'm not counting on Nevermore being a remarkably better addition to the series, but hopefully it will at least provide a little closure.

I don't even know how to begin reviewing Angel. I've both started and stopped writing this entry more times than I can say. How do you review something so reliant on other books in a series without spoiling the tale for new readers? You can't. Angel very much picks up where the last book left off and sets up the big showdown for the final book in the series. Because of this, there's no resolution, only more questions. This book is very much a bridge to the end of the series, a build-up to the volume that will hopefully rock our worlds.
I really want to read the final book and see how everything comes together. The cliffhanger doesn't make me crazy the way the one in Fang did, which is good for my sanity. It ends with just enough bite to make you want to read more, though. There are answers I need to know. There are situations that will ruin the whole series for me if they occur in the final book, and others that will make me love it forever. I have so many suspicions that go in a web of different directions. Angel didn't alleviate one of them.

I cannot believe how awful this book was compared to the books before. I mean it has become more about maxs feelings than about saving the world and junk. Honestly she really needs to just pick fang or dylan. I personally would go with fang. I mean fang is every girls dreamboyfriend and dylan is just that random kid who falls in love with a beautiful girl. FYI dylan is maxs "perfect other half." AKA my arch enemy. The only thing that kept me from giving this book one or two stars was that jp might fix all this up in the next book. My advice to you is that if you are thinking of reading this book read only books one through five until the last book comes out (February 2012?) then read the reviews and decide if it is possibly worth ruining the series, unless the reviews say the book is good. With that said, I rest my case. Have a great day.

"The world is coming to an end... humans are destroying the Earth, so we must kill all of them."
Ever since "Fang", Max's true love whom she's known almost all her life, left the Flock of six, things haven't been looking good. Max, a once heroic heroine with 14 foot long wings and a kick-butt attitude, is now depressed and hoping for Fang to come back. Fang is tall, dark, handsome, and unforgettable to Max. And Dylan, Max's `perfect soul mate' who was made to be her perfect other half, is perfect in almost every way, and wants Max more than anything.
The rest of the flock can see how upset Max is, including: Nudge, a telekinetic African American ten-year old who loves to talk and shop; Iggy, a blind, tall, and super skinny fifteen-year old who can `feel' colors; Gasman (Gazzy), a nine-year old with a love for blowing things up and a really gross genetic mutation you probably wouldn't want to hear; Total, a non-stop talking dog who has wings, and who is married to Akila, a beautiful Malamute from book four; and finally Angel, a telepathic seven-year old who used to want to be the leader of the flock, but has given up on becoming one. Max has a mother and a half-sister (see book three), too. Dr. Martinez is a vet (how ironic), who was once married to Jeb, the scientist/father who tested the flock in the School and then left. And Ella is a sweetheart who loves spending time with Max whenever Max isn't saving the world.
Everyone is making a fuss about killing the humans who are polluting the Earth, and it's up to the flock to figure it out and stop it. Children all across the world are coming to the One Light to `save the earth' and `kill the humans'. The hypnotic trance falls under Iggy and Ella, and possibly Max's mom, but they manage to snap Iggy out of it by plunging him in ice-cold water. Unfortunately, Ella was left behind in a mob of hypnotized rebels, and wasn't seen again.
Now, don't forget about Fang. He's still alive and formed his own group of kids with genetic mutations. There's Ratchet, who can hear miles away; Star, a speedy-fast blonde with a high metabolism; Star's friend, Kate, an incredibly-strong and supermodel-beautiful girl who's a vegetarian; and Haden, a ten-year old boy who can regenerate lost limbs and heal speedy-fast, his nickname... "The Starfish". Fang formed this group to stop the One Light, too, but he's going to need some help from Max.
When Fang calls Max for help, Max can hardly believe it, and on Fang's blog, Max sees Fang with... her? Who is this mysterious girl who looks just like Max? Will Fang and Max ever get back together? Will they stop the One Light and save the world? And who is behind all of this?
I chose this book for my Book Talk because it has so many problems, and boy, it's a page-turner! I would recommend this book and series to young-adults all from the ages of eight or nine to thirty and above! This book would fall into the action-packed, gonna-keep-you-up-all-night genre/ or just Science Fiction. I would rate this book five stars out of five! The ending is definitely not the end for the Maximum Ride series...

My daughter (14) is not a reader and I needed to find something she found interesting. I had already read most of the Maximum Ride books and had her start on them and she really enjoyed reading them. So, of course, I had to get Angel for her. She actually read it in two days (so did I). Book was brand new, arrived nicely packaged and on time. I really to enjoy purchasing items through the store. I recommend this series for all teens that have difficulty reading or just plain don't want to. My daughter was glued to these books. Now I am in trouble finding a series for her to read next.

I'm going to skip subtlety and cut straight to the point. After I read Angel, I felt like I was dead. I seriously just slumped on my bed after I read it and stared at the ceiling. Until my sister dragged me to her birthday party. She was also celebrating the Mylan in the book. She's a traitor! Here are the good parts in ANGEL:
Ella and Dr. Martinez were barely in it. (I just felt their characters were overdone and they weren't given enough characterization for me to take them seriously.I dare you to try and name a flaw for both of them.)
Dylan gets shot. (Even if it's 'heroicly'.)
The villains are a lot more intimidating than the villains in the past three books.
Here are the bad parts:
MAX 2(or Maya) Shegoes off and acts exactly like Max has acted in series, and yet everyone's saying that she's an individual when there's no reason given on how she's different. It seemed like one of the James step-ins realized this early on, but instead of changing Maya, they blotched Max's character up. And don't get me started on how they brought in the possibility that instead of being clones, Maxand Max 2 may be twins instead.(Plus, I hated how she acted towards Max.)
Fang (He was all over Maya and totally OOC, though I love his freak out in the plane.)
DYLAN (Nuff said.)
Barely any Nudge. (She had like one part where she talks and that's it. I thought she was talkative!)
Angel. (She was still super bossy to Max. Then everybody misses her? I don't get it.)
Fax is dead.
Mylan is alive. (Run for your lives!)
The Twilight resemblences. (Love triangle. Boyfriend leaves. Guy in love with girl moves in on his place easily. Am I the only one?"
Max. (She was way too OOC. Where did her toughness go? Where did the smart aleck go? Where did the leader go who would put herself in front of any danger before any of her flock? I miss her.)
The lack of action. (There was barely any action and the action that WAS in it was described terribly. Again supporting my theory that Stephanie Meyer wrote this book as one of his step ins.)
Too short. (I finished this book in less time then it took to actually go out and get it.)
Too much romance. (What happened to the days with Max rebelling against scientist plans and NOT trusting some kid she's known for about a week?)
Fang and Max hardly talking. (When they did talk it was a fight for no good reason. I miss their best friend relationship where Max was fighting with her feelings!)
Eggy? I'm not against Iggy getting a girlfriend, but Ella is twelve or thirteen and it's obvious that they have nothing in common.
There is more, but I don't want to get carpal tunnel. I'm not normally such a pessimist, but I'm just trying to warn you that you will regret becoming this book's victim if you read it.

This was an amazing emotional roller coaster for a book, Mainly at the end, and at some points I got so frustrated with what was happening I had to put the book down, but a few minutes later, I just had o keep reading, it was so intense and amazing! You do have to read ALL of the other books to understand it, and, why would you just jump in at the near end of he series? Any way, I loved it.

Pros:
Gazzy: I LOVED Gazzy in this book. He is one of the only characters that still makes me laugh. I think he's become so awesome compared to the little parts he got in the first books.
Angel: Ok, heres a TINY SPOILER ALERT for those of u that haven't read the book, but yes, Angel isn't a sycotic freak anymore, and is suddenly a "little Angel" again. I hated the whole "I want to be flock leader" thing Angel had against Max. Even though it kinda comes outta no where after she just kicked Max outta the flock in the last book, I still like the new Angel.
Ratchet: SPOILER ALERT!! Even though I hate fang's excuse of a flock, i really like Ratchet. Along with Gazzy, he is the only character that makes me laugh. Besides his sense of humor, though, I think he's a useless character.
Cons:
Max: SHE.IS.PATHETIC!!!! I wish she could just suck it up, pick either Dylan or Fang, and become the kick butt Max that I loved sooooo much in the first books. She's just not herself anymore, and i HATE IT!!! I don't even think I can say anymore without giving away tons of spoilers and rambling on so I'll just leave it at this: PLEASE GIVE US BACK KICK BUTT MAX!!!!!!
Fang: SPOILER ALERT!! I HATE Fang in this book!!!! If u have read previous books, you know why I loved him then, but in this book he's just plain RUDE and USELESS. He doesn't do any fighting AT ALL, and the whole "Maya thing" makes me REALLY MAD!!! Where did she even come from??? The only reason I like her at all is because she's more like Max than the real Max is!!
Dylan: I HATE U!!!! Because Fang is so RUDE AND USELESS in this book, Dylan is the only one Max has!! Besides Angel, I really think he's the only one that even cares about Max anymore. I HATE SAYING THIS!!! I hate how JP made Fang so rude and FORCED me to like Dylan. I just think hes sooo predictable. Fang <3 Max FOREVER!!!
No fighting, action, suspense, just LAME LOVEY DOVEY GARBAGE!!: Don't get me wrong, I loved it when Max and Fang started dating, but this book had almost NO FIGHTING WHATSOEVER!!! (SPOILER ALERT!!) Even the climax didn't have any fighting - a bomb went off and they just left. IT MAKES ME SOOOO MAD!!!
Overall, I just didn't like this book. It used to make me laugh so hard my sides would hurt, when it ended I'd be dieing for more. I used to love all the characters, and, most of all, FANG WAS STILL IN THE FLOCK!!!! I'm just SOOOOO dissappointed in JP. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!! MAKE THE LAST BOOK AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope this helped. :)

Seriously James? I mean honesty, what are you doing here?
This book was just disappointing. Honestly, the series should have stopped after 'The Final Warning'. At this point it's become immensely dragged on and moderately pointless, not to mention jumbled. I doubt Even Patterson knows how to end it now. It started so amazing, but has crashed and burned at this point. Think MTV after they got rid of the music.
The plot is decent, but has dwindled as the series marched on. I'm getting mixed signals as well when it comes to the message. The evil originally was the mad scientists who made Max and the Flock, but now it's too hard to tell who's bad and who's not. Another thing about this book that irks me is that James turned this into a series for teaching children about the environment and that we need to protect us. Ugh. I love messages in books that are crafty or clever, like Dr. Seuss's Sneeches teaching about racism. But this? He doesn't even try. It feels like a lecture in school versus a story for entertainment. It's weak.
I give the series up to The Final Warning a solid five stars, but at this point it barely gets two. The entire point of this book in particular was to give it romantic drama. Dylan annoys me, and Fang lost his backbone when he left. It's just not fun anymore. I plan on reading the final book just to see what happens with Angel (Patterson can't seem to decide what to do with her) and in hope that Dylan is killed. But honestly I think I'm just going to check it out from the library. At this point, this series just isn't fun.
I'm disappointed in you Mr. Patterson.

Think Patterson worth his schizophrenic style of thought is far off? Dissect the world from your warm fat easy chairs. If you can't see the reality in this novel, I suggest you take a large dose of haldol and thorazine and go about your mindless existence.

SPOILERS, I GUESS
Okay, first of all, I do NOT like Dylan. OR, *GAGS* Maya. Ick. I honestly wouldn't care if Patterson killed off Dylan and Maya.
WHY did James Patterson make Fang leave???!!!!! WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Ug. SO not cool. I was all excited when I first started the series. But when I started reading FANG, I hated it. Ug! I mean, Patterson built up FAX, then, bam, all of the sudden he decided to make Fang leave. In MAX, I was so psyched that Fang and Max FINALLY kissed, and Max didn't hesitate this time. YAY!
Un-Yay Part: Dylan coming. He was "designed/made" for Max, her supposed "perfect other half". Yeah, right! *rolls eyes sarcastically*
Well, FANG WASN'T designed to love Max. They came to love each other purely by themselves.
But, NO, Patterson HAD to break 'em up.
I REALLY, REALLY, NEVERENDING-REALLYS want Fang and Max to be together in the final book, called Nevermore: The Last Maximum Ride Adventure.
They may just be a fictional relationship to Patterson, but to most readers/fans, (including me, of course) they are real. R-E-A-L.
I don't want the series to end!!!!!!!!!
FAX FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAXIMUM RIDE FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!! FLOCK FOREVER!!!!

Negatives:
This book truly did not do a thing for the amazing series I have grown to adore over the years. From the useless diologue, to the once fantastic characters that our now polar opposites to what they used to be. James Patterson creates another addition to the Maximum Ride series (the other being Fang) that did make sense to me. Though it still would have only bumped up my review to a three star rating, it would have at least made sense if there was at least SOME meaning behind this meaningless love triangle. I feel like the once rational, understanding characters are walking in circles and going no where. Like I said the useless dialogue to me was just James Patterson rubbing in the fact that Max and Fang are over and trying to convinse the Team Fang readers to switch. And to make matters worse he brings back max II. Even if he does make up for this book in the next, I will still always remember this book as being the downfall to this amazing series. So I ask now please, bring back the old lovable and amazing characters from the previouse books!
Positives: though there are few positives....... I would like to say I did enjoy the new characters in the Fang Gang. A good comody relief to the other madness. And of course then there's the action!! ^_^ The always changing (yet some how connecting) challenges they face always excites me to read future installment. And the fast paste chapters make it easy to want to read chapter after chapter.
Though this book really dissapointed me after being hugely dissapointed with the previous book, I will stifle my urge to stop now and see if the next book will at least somewhat fix the issues with what I recently read.

Dont get me wrong I love the series even though I started it 2 or 3 months ago. But all in all its awsome. Yet the cliff hanger was awful and " At least Angel was still human enough to cry." really confused me. Like is she part robot or something? And what happened to "Dr. Hagen Das"? Is he dead or what. And when did Angel get a "Voice"? Romance my foot I love the kick but violence not moonlight strolls and ice-cream sundaes. Fangs Gang is like a smorgesboard of special powers. Also whats up with Nudge, Gazzy, and Iggy? Theyre just not themselves I want more explosions, kick-butt battles, mano-a-mano sparring sessions, and less romance and ( sorry to be the pot calling the kettle black but ) less Jeb. I have high hopes for Nevermore, so dont dissapoint me. ( PLEASE. )

I both loved and hated this book at once. I was confused by the lack of a true villian (yet again!) and was sorry that the plot did not really differ at all from th plots of the last couple books. I hated that JP did not include nearly as much of the edge-of-your-seat, suspenseful fighting that I come to expect from Maximum Ride. I also agree that James Patterson seems to have lost some of his edge and finesse in his books. I loved (although am confused by) the fact that Angel is returning to her sweet, non-traiterous self. I like how Gazzy and his role in the books has developed so much from the first three books. But, I hated Maya in this book, stealing Fang from Max and basically almost ruining my opinion of these books. she brings nothing but annoyance to the story and definitely gets on my nerves during the book.
Rant :
Talking about relationships brings me to two other things. Dylan and Max. I hate how some people think that Max ix too soft in this book just because she is experiencing regular human emotions!!! I am only 12 and can understand why Max would have these feelings!! It's truly amazing to see how incredibly stupid people can be! And Dylan! While it is true that he shouldn't be with Max he is still a good person and a character that I truly like! If you think Dylan should die just because he has feelings about Max 1) I want to stay that those emotions are stupid and unrealistic and 2) There is nothing that Dylan has done wrong! Just because a story doesn't go the way you want it to does not mean it's terrible!
I am finished ranting now, and I hope I haven't hurt anyones feelings, but what I said is all true.
Overall, even with a lack of a true villian, an overdone plot, and virtually no action I still enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the eigth and final book. I hope, James Patterson that if you read this you will make the last book the greatest!
Fly on!

When I first picked up Angel: A Maximum Ride Novel, I have to admit I was apprehensive. I've been following the series since it first saw light of day in 05 (Technically a bit earlier than most, since I won an ARC) and I immediately fell in love with every character. Then I impatiently waited year after year, and when book 4 (The Final Warning) arrived, my expectations were shot down. This book was bad. Then, Max and Fang followed, each getting slightly better in my opinion.
Angel, I'm glad to say, seems to be setting up for what is going to be an amazing conclusion to the series. The cliffhanger ending (Yes, there is one) is one that is going to upset the readers. As well as the whole Dylan/Fang scenario. Of course, in my opinion the best part of the story is when the two flocks reunite, about halfway through (This is not a spoiler, it says so on the inside cover ^^). Max and Fang were both acting completely realistic, it's almost as if James Patterson went and sat down with two teenagers who had a bad break-up, and wanted to see how they reacted with each other.
The ending, like I said, will leave readers begging for the final book in the series.
On another note, you should know that some things in Fang (LIke the "Coming apocalypse") are answered, or made clear in this book.

id give this book three and a half stars.but james took it off track and it was sad.i really like action i wasnt sure id read on when max and fang got like all kissy.but i ram out of books really fast so i reread the whole sieries twice.angel was a disapointment but i still liked it.the other books set the bar pretty high.but like when angel gets partly blown up that was preety sad...but i have to say my favoret part is...the plane part.that part wasnt even that good to and thetension with fang and max got a little much.oh and hello max 2.will dylan fall for max2 and fang will have the REALLY max back?i find dylan kinda annoying.max is giving mixed amotions.fang found a new true love just like the old??????????????

This was a really good book. It wasn`t as good as the first three, but it was still amazing.
Some parts were a bit stupid. I mean, Maya replacing Max? I was so not cool with that. I never used to dislike Fang, but now I think he is a loser.
I do agree that Max needs to toughen up some more and grow up.
I like Dylan, and am «Team Dylan,»because he in NOT a loser like Fang, AND he doesn`t flip-flop with his emotions (like Fang). I also liked how Nudge, Iggy, Gazzy, and Angel are growing up.
Some things I did not like were the major gaps in the storyline, and the still -unanswered questions from previous books plus the ones from Angel. For example, what is the actual thing Max is saving the world from? Global warming, or the Doomsday Group? Also, what about the search for the flocks' parents that was left off in book 3? What happened to all of the earlier characters, the red-haired wonder & Max's boyfriend, Brigid, Mr. Chu, and basically everyone who was in earlier books?
No offense, Mr. Patterson, but you either have some slight dementia, or just need to re-read your books again.
I have been an avid reader of Maximum Ride for such a long time. When I found the date Angel came out, I counted down for like thirty-three days until it came out. I also woke up at 11:45 p.m., so I would be awake for the midnight release on my Kindle. Sadly, I hadn't realized at the time that the Kindle website is updated every hour,so that Angel would be out at 1 a.m. So, I was frantically checking my Kindle to see if I could buy it yet, and checking to see if there was something wrong with my device. I did fall asleep at 1, but after I was able to read the first 23 or 26 chapters. I bought the book at 6:30 and finished the rest at 8:30.
Anyways, I am not going to say that this is his best Maximum Ride book yet, because it wasn`t. It could use a lot of improvements with the gaps in the continuing story line.
Hopefully the next, and last book will answer questions such as where Ella, Jeb, Dr. Martinez, and Dr.GH went or are.
Please, JP, read your previous books, answer questions, have a good ending, and find a way to make Fang less of a loser and Maya more of an individual.
PLEASE for the love of your fans

Oh, JP... It's as if your writing has hit a blockade. Never really been a fan of it (short, choppy sentences, writing as if you were watching a movie, which is fine, for, well, a movie) but this one seems to be the most annoying. He paints vivid pictures but, it's not very poetic. It feels like an amateur, which we all know, he's NOT.
I don't care about Fax or Dax or that crap. I cannot stand Fang (though, oddly enough, I like him better in this - he's not some creepy mute stalker who's always watching Max), think Dylan's pathetic (he FAILED at commiting SUICIDE!!!), and Max is a self-important, impulsive (which is a good quality, except in HER) brat. But this one was just... ugh. Angel, Gazzy, and Iggy were good, though all of the characters seemed off.
Max is told that she needs to save the world.
Tell me:
From what??
the Erasers and Fly-boys are all decommisioned (if that's the right word), and the Gen 77 kids don't seem like a real threat - just some teen cult following, no dimension whatsoever. The only things that need saving in the books is Max, and the fact that she just HAS to make all of the wrong decisions, and out of the book, my sanity.
I loved the first three books, they were fantastic. But now they're shorter, choppier, and (in Max language) crappier.
Disappointed... :(

SPOILER ALERT!!! okay. so i start reading the maximum ride books and like love them imediatly! Yay. all is good with the world. So i tell my friends at school about them and before i know it about half of my class is reading them. There are debates in the hall about whats gonna happen next in the series and all is good with the world la la la...Then angel comes out. We all read it and are MAD!!! Picture kids freaking out in the hallway practically yelling at James Patterson (if he could hear them)...Everyone hates the ending. what the heck is up with the whole fang and maya thing?!?! and dylan whats up with him?? my whole class wants him dead (James Patterson if your reading this could you kill dylan....or at least put him and maya together and have fang and max together...the way its supposed to be?!?!)...Ya. bad book. And don't even get me started on the ending. Im finally starting to like angel and you go and almost kill her...what is up with that?!?! So as you can see i was a little mad at the book. Then i turn the page and see I have to wait until 2012 to see the ending!! i mean no offense Mr.Patterson but these books are kinda short and it shouldn't take that long to write another one....Im just hoping the next and last book will be better so my love for the series can continue.

I am not even going to go into to details, because all of the other reveiws explain what is wrong with this horrible book. This is how the series is progressing so far-
From awesome kick-butt series about mutant bird kids who CARE about each other---- To libral propaganda about hippie bird kids who try to save the world by performing---- To a stupid, sad love triangle between mushy gushy bird kids.
So, if you know what is good for you, drop this series NOW! (The last book will probably be just as bad) And start reading a book by Agatha Christie! Her books are AMAZING! They have good plots and awesome characters. Not like this trash. Max is not Max anymore, and I am DONE with this Dylan junk. The Ride for me is over.
Hercule Poirot here I come! :)

This book was ok. I absolutely love his writing. There is action non stop, but max was really starting to sound like belle from the twilight series. All she did was mope around feeling sorry for herself and was just torn between two guys. I personally like Dylan a lot more because he's like a little lost puppy. Fang was just being a jerk and ran away, so screw him!
The ending wasn't the best, but I really want another book that will actually answer some questions. This book was good, but I am still dying of curiosity. So if you don't like cliff hangers, you are going to roll over and die if you read this book.
Please write another book.

okay, so i've seen this plot twist before. but this book just prolongs it. i mean patterson could throw me a curve ball that i've also seen before and have max run off with dylin, but i'm pretty sure the plot will go with max ending up with fang and dylin leading fang's flock. either or, just this whole relationship deal is really starting to tick me off. i used to be into this series cuz me and my ex were so much like max and fang. granted we broke up just as i was getting him into the series, we had been friends for a long time, and to this day we still have our competitions with each other. But because this is a story and not real life, i'd really like to have a happy ending with the two characters who are obviously two halves of one whole. the book angel was the one thing that would make or break my like for this series, but because nothing was resolved in this book, i'll have to spend my money on one last book, and read though it in one day such as i have down for the last two

Ok so this series started out great. I'm mean Max was the perfect character, but then he like totally ruined it in book 4 and 5!!!!!! /:( He went all " Eco-friendly and Go Green", which was really lame. I'm sorry I know we should recycle and stuff, but honestly they went to Antarctica to save fish. Also Jeb was way to involved he was supposed to be there enemy!!! /:( Whatever happened to the whole no adults kick but attitude?! Then in books 6 and 7 he dropped the "Go Green" attitude and got worse, he invited stupid Dylan into the book. The books 7 & 8 were mainly about wether Max want Dylan or Fang..... I mean honestly get a life!!!!! Then he even kicked Fang out..... And whats the deal with Angel being insane evil manic, I actually liked her In the first couple of book, but now I hate her.. That's my opinion... I hope the last book is better
P.S. Clone Max has issues!!!!!!

I'll get strait to the point; "Angel" is a far cry from the rest of the series. There are plot holes galore, the once-strong main character is now wallowing the self pity because Fang left, and just the mere mention of Dylan makes me gag. The only character that really stood up and got anything done was Angel. In the middle of the book, James Patterson started screwing with who the characters really are. (i.e. Turned Iggy into a mindless eco-freak zombie!) Also, the book is less kick-butt action like the first three books and more broken hearts and the whole 'Save the Earth' spiel. If you like that kinda stuff, then yeah, its kinda ok. Also, the ending is as abrupt as abrupt can be. If you are a true-blue fan of the first three books (which in my opinion are the only ones really truly worth reading) then you more than likely won't enjoy this book.

Okay, I have to disagree with just about all of you. Move over Harry Potter! Your time is through. This book is amazing! I do admit that Fang leaving is really sad, but it gives the book such an awesome twist! And about Dylan, it leaves you on a cliffhanger, wanting to hear more. Who will stay with Max? Who will leave? Fang or Dylan? Fang, who i've pretty much been in love with since book 2, has been with Max all this time. But Dylan is literally her perfect other half. Plus, you have Max II involved. The clone. Who could resist that? I can't wait to read Forever More!

I love James Patterson. I try to read everything I can by him. The maximum ride series started out great. I think trying to make it environmentally conscious on the 3rd book the sites took a turn for the worse. The series did pick up on this book, but not nearly as good as the first 2 books

I have to first off say that I Love Love James Patterson, the whole Maximum Ride series has been awesome. I could not wait for the second that this book was released. It was kind of a long and drawn out. Max would you make up your mind. Dylan/Fang? I hope in the next book that Dylan and Max II (aka Maya) get together and take over Fangs new gang, so Fang can go back where he belongs. I kind of felt like thats what the whole book was about. I need ore kick butt action. I so wanted to love it more than I did. Don't get me wrong I would read it all over again. This series has me suched in.
I do have to say that I am in love with Angel again, the last couple of books not so much. It made for a good character though. Anyways I can't wait for the last book in the series, I hope he does the series justice if you guys know what I mean, the whole Fang/Max triangle.

So I bought Angel a few days ago and finished it that night, but some things about it really seemed off. Here's my list:
the plot: It was stupid. Plain and Simple. The Doomsday group didnt make any sense at all and they weren't even a big threat. *spoiler* So they randomly go to Paris and then Fang randomly leaves again, its like James Patterson has NO outline for the book!
Fang vs. Dylan: Max is supposed to make a choice between the two of them, yet James Patterson seems that he can't make up his own mind.
the personalities: Fang was COMPLETELY out of character and I know people can change, but I have read Fan Fictions better. Max was annoying and was too confused throughout the whole thing. Nudge and Iggy were all emo throughout the whole thing. Dr. Martinez and Jeb were just so RANDOM! THey leave at the weirdest time in the book!!!!!!!!!!!!
What I liked:
Dylan has more of a personality in this book. And Angel is SO much more better in this book. She is more like she was in the first couple of books.
In my point of view, these last three books haven't been as good as the first three books were. Those were better and more carefully written, but thats just my opinon

So I totally loved this one!!! I just couldnt put it down!! Im starting to trust Angel a little bit again. And I love the whole love triangle thing! I really cant even decide who I like Max with better. In most stories with a love triangle, you only get a little bit about one possible lover and then you get a ton of info about the other lover. Even though Dylan is new, I can see why Max is falling for him. I`m not blindly choosing which (for lack of a better word) "team" im on.
And then theres the whole bit about the world ending. Im still a little confused about what happened to itex, but this is interesting. I mean somebody is brainwashing thousands of children!! Thousands of children will happily kill their loved ones and themselves!! That is pretty scary!!!
So overall....very good book!! Deffinitely my favorite in the series. Lets hope Nevermore can top it :)

Maximum Ride, the bird/kid hybrid with wings and an outrageous attitude, is facing her biggest challenge yet with no Fang by her side. Her best friend, second in command and love of her life, has left the flock to form his own group. Understandably, Max is terribly upset, so the rest of the flock takes her back to her mom's house to calm down. It doesn't help having Dylan in her face, reminding her of what she's lost. Dylan was made to imprint on Max, to be her perfect other half, but Max doesn't want anything to do with him. Whether she wants him or not, though, Dylan is slowly becoming an important member of the flock in more ways than one.
Meanwhile, Fang has decided to start up his own group and is now interviewing prospective members. Thanks to his blog, he has found quite a few kids with special talents, like Ratchet, who has super-sharp senses, and Star, who is faster than a hummingbird. When Fang needs one more member, he debates whether or not to contact the person he has in mind. He wonders if the clone made of Max would be more of a help or a hindrance, but decides to recruit her anyway. Having someone who looks just like Max might be more of a painful reminder of what he's left behind than the benefits she brings.
Max and Fang then find themselves confronting a new terrorist organization, the Doomsday Group, which is brainwashing kids all over the world to join together to wipe out the entire human race. They even get a hold of Iggy and Max's half-sister, Ella, programming their minds to Doomsday's evil ways. Max and Fang decide they must combine their groups and work together to save the world against these toxic bad guys. Yet, despite the amazing talents both groups have and the tremendous force they become, they will end up losing one of their own.
When James Patterson and Maximum Ride get together, they never disappoint. All of his characters are unique and fascinating. Max, of course, is the shining star, with her amazing abilities, stubborn streak, carefully guarded heart and outrageous attitude. Patterson can paint a vivid picture in just a few short words (for example, "...it looked like someone had taken a handful of diamonds and thrown them onto black velvet." and "Her words swirled all around me, like little rays of light clearing paths through my brain."). He also injects words of wisdom into the story without having it sound like a lecture, such as the importance of friendship and working together, of caring for the planet, and that sometimes choices aren't so black and white ("At a certain level, there are no best choices, no right decisions. Only choices that are less bad, decisions that are less wrong."). The action kicks into high gear on page one and never once slows down, with lots of surprises along the way.
ANGEL is exciting, suspenseful and hilarious, and I can't wait for the conclusion of the series, which is expected to occur in 2012 with the release of the eighth book.

wow. thats all i can say. wow. and thats not a good wow either! i've folloowed the max ride series for years now, and i've been a hard-core max and fang fan. but this is just ridiculous. im sorry, but really? james patterson, you should have either ended it at book 3, gotten a better ghost writer, or better yet, you should have written them yourself. i sincerely hope you can save yourself with the next book, because this one was just terrible. the ending sucked, there was no max and fang action after all that build up, and the whole plotline is pretty much a repeat of the last two books. and while i dont despise him, dylan is sort of grating on my nerves. and max has totally changed. she should NOT be all mushy gushy with dylan. and you sure as hell netter not make fang end up with maya. please save the series in the next book, if not to appease the readers, then to save yourself from the surely oncoming angry mobs. the only reason that im refraining frm giving this book one star is becaue i still have hope for the series

I LOVE MAXIMUM RIDE! This book was excellent! I know I always say this about these books but they truly are. Fast paced full of action, anticipation, romance, uncertainty, and of course excitement. Sadly there will only be one more book after this one. :( The beginning and ending of this book was very unique and in my opinion very well done! Bravo Patterson, this was an excellent ending to enter us into the last book of the series! I'm very much looking forward to book #8 in February 2012.

This is such a good series, that once I read the first one, I had to get the second, the third, and I just couldn't stop! Now, I'm only ten, but I've read each one in either one or two days each! That's why these books are so good! They reach out to the younger generation of the world's population, and take regular everyday things in a teenager's life, and make it sound like it's the most important thing in the world! These books have character, humor, romance, mystery, anticipation, action, fantasy, sadness, ,comfort, and most of all, the ride of your life! That's how James Patterson takes it to the Maximum. Read on!

Ok, so I was so disappointed in this book, worse then Fang. I feel as though James Patterson has committed Literary Suicide with this book, this is why:
1. Dylan...nuff said
2. Where'd the action go? is it hiding somewhere? better find it James, maybe it's with all the fans you lost from this book (ooohh sorry that was mean)
3. Max is all emotional, just like she was in Fang. she's not acting like herself. It's annoying.
4. WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE THEY SAVING THE WORLD FROM?? it used to be Global Warming, now it's Doomsday, I'm confuzzled, make up you're mind
5. Maya, which brings me back to
6. Dylan
7. Is Max's hair Blonde or Brown? James keeps switiching it, it's confusing.
8. the whole Fang/Maya thing is just downright unhealthy, it's so obvoius she's the rebound girl because she's exactly like Max.
9. I never liked Fang's blog to begin with, it was a weird way to lay low, but hey it's proven useful once or twice
10. DYLAN
11. James can't just build up a romantic relationship for like 5 books and demolish it all in one, i liked how they were in Max, where they were cute, but they had their priorities straight
12. When did they get cell phones
13. the more i write the more i miss the first 3 books
14. seriously you need to kill off dylan
15. 'Imprint' Dylan 'imprinted' on Max. did James really just make a twilight reference? Okay it's official, do what you want, but get Dylan out of the way
alright, James you have one last book left. I hope it's not nearly as disappointing, please somehow within your last book clean up this mess you made. pretty please redeem the series.

Many people have already reviewed this book, and were disappointed. Although I support them fully, I'd rather search for high points first.
1.) A cool new bad guy(doomsday) was introduced.
2.) ... uhm...
See? I mean, there ARE more good points, but I'm too busy to search through the book, trying to pick them out. I was VERY disappointed with how Max was depicted in this book. She was, in my words, sullen and completely annoying to listen to. She used to be epic.
I, like some others, believe this has to do with the Dylan/Fang drama. This seems to be a lame excuse to turn the books into the twilight saga. I believe that having Max fall for Dylan at all is kind of cliche, seeing as they have known each other for TWO BOOKS. I do like that Maya was broght back, although, having Fang like her was... different. All in all, I might as well stop now. I just hope that I know James Patterson enough to think that he could still pull this off.

I loved the book, even though I do agree that patterson has lost his edge with this series.
Pros-Fang's crew is funny. I finally love Angel again. The ending was sad, but it was also amazing. I reallt think I know who the voice is, so someone is seriously gonna get a beating in the next book, curtisy of Max herself when she finds out. It's why I want to finish the seies. I want to know who the voice is. I also want Dylan to die(the worse the death the better) I want Max and fang to be together again.
Cons-Max is such a whimp in this book. I just wanted to go and smack some sense into her the whole time. And Dylan....I hate that idiot. Maya is an okay charecter but I think she's uneccessary for the plot.
Overall, I loved the book. I recommend it to anyone who's reading the series.I just want patterson to turn Max back to who she was in books 1-3 and to kill dylan off and have Max and Fang be together again. if he doesn't, I say an angry mob of Max Ride fans will definately happen.

over all it was really good but im only giving it four star instead of five becaus of fang and maya max and dylan etc and im pretty sure most people prefer fang and max thanks for your time

the reason this book is getting deadful reviews is because hardcore Max fans r not adapting to her changes (changes being understated)
sure she is softer, and i agree it could b longer, but honestly SPOILER
Fang kinda ruined his chance with Max, and ppl r taking the frustration with Fang out on Dylan. i personally think Max is better off with Dylan at this point, but it would also b sweet to c Fang fufill his promise abiut the 20 year thing.
anyway
review
good read, and deserves 5 stars, but because of length it only gets four. cant wait fr the last book though

I have always loved the Maximum ride series but this book really disappointed me. It seems as if the characters change personalities in between books. To me, the plot is too loose, and leaves to many loose ends that end up making me confused. I still enjoyed this book, but the author needs to work on the plot and characters.

the book was soo epic. Though i think Fang was right about the part when Max always deals with her hurt feelings. But the book is amazing, you know guys, the reason of the unsolved romance problems is for you to know how they solve them at the last book. The serious is still trilling!!!! i still recommend this book for romance, action, and bit of tragedy lovers.Maximum did it again

Good book. Lots of action. Didnt like the way Max and Fangs feelings suddenly change? Iggy needs more coverage, he's a great character that needs to be developed. Max close to the end of the book asks the question that was on my mind throughout the book. "How could you stop loving me?" which is a matter that needs to be made clearer. Why have Fangs feelings suddenly changed? He show`s no love for Max when the story is in his point of view. Overall it was a good book but some matters could do with more explanation. 4\5 stars

James patternson is a genius, when I began reading this series two years ago i couldn't put them down. I am an avid reader and few books I will read more than once muchless over and over, but this one rocked. However Dylan though he may be a hottie, but he has to die, or go bad or hook up with max's freaky look alike I mean something has to give. The book is awesum and funny though fang leaving sucked but you can't when them all. I am quite sad there is only one more book to go.

I agree with so many reviews that the first three books of this series were so good. I couldn't put them down. The rest have been tolerable and I will continue to read until the story is completed. But it is too bad that the series had to go downhill the way it did. Hoping for a better finish.

So, having followed each book, this was the least of my favorites. Don't like the evolution of Dylan. His naive charm was removed in the first few chapters. The "I was made for you" stuff is blah. It's understandable that JP is using the character to create the melodrama of the Fang/Max relationship. Nothing stokes the fires of love like ol' jealousy. Too many unanswered questions. The plot lacks detail as readers of JP's work are accustomed to enjoying. Seems like JP has too many concurrent series running. All I can hope is the final book is everything it needs to be to wrap this burrito up. Max and Fang deserve one another. If it settles out with Dylan and Max, I'm giving away my copies; including the JP autographed one. All in all, this is great writing. If an author can elicit such strong emotion from it's reader-they're definitely gifted.

Ok alot of the readers are being pretty harsh about James Pattersons Angel. Although it wasnt Pattersons best work i thought it was very suspensful. The book left readers wanting more which is why he dosnt answer most questions. He want readers to keep reading his books. I also loved the addition of FangsGang. But here are some changes I want in the next book: I want Patterson to answer all questions, I want Max to choose Fang NOT DYLAN, I want more action, I want Nudge, Gazzy, hopefully Angel, and definately Iggy to have bigger parts, because I am a huge Iggy fan, and i want an extra long book because nobody wants to see this series end. So all in all I thought it was a great book. AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, MR.P, THINK ABOUT CONTINUING THE THE SERIES OR MAKING A SECOND MAXIMUM RIDE SERIES!!!!!!!!! JUST DONT END IT!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely loved fang and max, Dylan was okay with fang stopping him, Maya is the worst: she is annoying, falling over Fang, messing with Max, and then you tried to redeem her at the end. What else would you do, make maya stand by and watch max die so she could have Fang? Here`s my suggestion, just get maya and dylan together, and let Max and Fang get over each other. This is coming from a teenager... With annoyane, but hope for the future.

This was just the same old Maximum Ride story, everybody is out to get the flock, the flock beats everyone game over. This series has just really drug on too long. If you are going to call the book "Angel" then it should be about Angel not Max and her new boyfriend/old boyfriend. The story just kind of ended really stupid. You never find out what happened to Max's sister, mom and Jeb. I'm guessing that will be in the next action packed same old story that will probably be no better than the rest.

i have always been a big fan of the flock, and i have wanted max and fang to be together since the beginning but now my feelings have changed, and fang is driving me crazy. when i was reading this book, i loved every minute of it, but when fang and his gang came into the picture, the book changed for me. the end is very incomplete and i dont feel like the book is over. in this book, i learned to love angel again, and i wont ruin the ending for those who havent read it, but i will say that i didnt expect it to end like this. overall it was a very good book, and i have fallen in love with dylan. :)

I really love the series, but Dylan is making me mad, I'm ready to scribble him out of the whole book. And if Fang gets a different girlfriend I'm not gonna like him at all even though he is one of my favorite characters for now.I really really wish you would write another book continuing the maximum ride series until the fans get enough! I mean it would get you money, what is so bad about that? I really hated hated the ending for Fang, but I love your writing how you add a ton of humor into the books and the plot so far, I haven't started Angel yet but I have a bad feeling about it looking at the ratings and reviews, and my suspicions were confirmed that the book series was going to look worse. Please write more books!! Your fans will love you! We love and miss the flock!!!

Where do i start? i loved the other books! they were all amazing and even though fang was the worst book ever (because he leaves her and angel....... dont get me started) i wanted to read this one. you get attached to the characters in the earlier books so you know what they are like. in this book everything seemed forced. max never sounded like herself (i know fang just broke her heart) and nudge really wasnt.
all JP did in this book was make me hate fang even more, really really really hate dylan, not want to read the next one, (im going to because i have to know if max goes back to fang) start to like angel again and wish max would get over her stupid hurt and decide who she wants to go with.
if james pattersons goal was to really dissapoint his readers then he achived his goal.

Why on earth would you do something like this? After a full series of building up romantic tension between Max and Fang, that first kiss on the beach, the times when they were jealous, the Ari breakup, the beautiful relationship of friendship, camaraderie, and finally love that blossomed between Max and Fang, you had to do This. You had to create a whole love triangle wth Dylan. If you wanted to do that, you should`ve done it at the beginning of the series! Nobody really knows anything about Dylan. You set a standard in the first three books that has not been lived up to, Mr. Patterson. Fang was my favorite character, and believed in Max and Fang Forever. So thanks, Mr. Patterson. Thanks for crushing my Maximum Ride fantasies and the sul of a truly great fictional relationship.

Ok I loved the Max Ride series, probably the best I've ever read, but I think it should've just stopped at MAX, because I loved the whole Fang x max thing(Even though at times I found Max annoying, call me a critic...)And I immediatly fell in love with Fang(I mean c'mon who doesn't love the dark mysterious type!) Then with Dylan along now and Max's "perfect other" It was hate at first sight.I knew there was going to be a love triangle sort of thing and I was cool with that, you know, adds to the plot. But when I finished FANG I was like "NO! THEY CAN NOT BE TOGETHER!" (If you havenot read ANGEL yet please do not read on)And with Max and Dylan getting cuddly with eachother I wanted to rip the book apart, and practically exploded when Maya came along. I had honestly been hoping fang and Max get together and Dylan leave. For good. But now the chances arn't so high since we are at the end. But still waiting impaitently for the next book in 2012 and fingers crossed for The Dylan X Max to be over. But otherwise great plot!

Ok i got this book over the wwekend and I was so exited to read it. THen when i was at home I cried at the end! Fang should have stayed with Max wherever she decided to go because ugh idk Dylan and Fang, well they are both perfect for Max. Dylan cares for her and protects her and so does Fang but her and Fang have alot of history together. BUt Max likes when she is around Dylan because she feelss safe. Well like Angel said, "Be with one of them or none of them" and Max and Dylan are kinda more perfect for each other idk im bored thats why im writing this review other than that this was one of JPs best i loved a little action a little romance and comedy. Title says it all. :D
Angel was an absolutely epical book with a great plot that was for once hole-free! You can definitely tell that JP put some real time, thought, and effort into this novel; the actual writing quality has improved, the plot was interesting and exciting, the romance was real and believable, and the characters have definitely developed.
The ending was rather heartbreaking in more ways than one and it had a killer cliffhanger, but I'm one of those people who enjoy those sorts of things (while simultaneously hating them) so that didn't really take away from the book for me.
All in all this was a great book and I highly recommend it! :D

I loved this book, but i wanted alittle more Fang and Max action. Hurt and rage fueled arguements, stuff like that. I dont know I guess I expected a little more of their issues to come up somewere in the book. I wanted some more cinflict between the two I guess. Oh, and I still dont like Dylan, the little obsesive jerk. I know he was " designed " for Max but I still don't like him. Even though Fang was the one who left. Oh, well. I still really liked it.

Unsolved romanticism, Dylan not dead, Fang gone, and almost the end of croissants? James Patterson needs to redo Angel`s death scene, and kill Dylan off, so Fang may cme back. I h8 fang so much. he is a total jerk who leaves max then comes back and blames her. i wish max would just luv dylan and kill fang. dylan actually cares for max while fang just takes advantage of her. he totally should just get his act together. i mean, he should just have his stupid gang and luv maya but nawt rub her in maxs face!!!!!! and max should rub dylan in fangs face. he deserves it. he cant b jealous of dylan when hes the one cheating on max!!! hes supposed to luv her!! y cant he just b quiet bout dylan and the flock and leave the series, FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fang=:( dylan=;D max=:> also, i <3 the series. :D :D :D :D:D:D:D

I can't believe Max is falling for Dylan. She and Fang were made for each other. Plus Fang knows alot more about Max then Dylan will ever know in his life. I hope Max chose Fang in the next book.
P.S. Why did Fang replace Max? How could he!!!!!!

This is a really fun book series. The some sexual content rating refers to a kiss or two in the book between two teens that are really into one another. Barely rates as sexual content, but couldn't rate it "no sexual content". If you have a teen or tween that likes child protagonists/heros, this is a really fun book series.

These books are great written. The books have some major plot twists and aometimes you don't know if it was all an illusion or if it happened. It is really interesting and I can't predict what will happen. The books are amazing.

I had not bought this Patterson novel because I thought it was just for kids and that I would not like it. Actually, it was quite interesting and action-paced like all of his novels. No wonder, younger readers like these Maximum Ride-novels.
*** some spoilers *****
About the plot: there is a bunch of kids who are in trouble and running away from an experiment facility they call the School. They can fly and they have other facilities, too. Then one day when they thought they were safe, the School's wards come back and capture Angel, the youngest of them, the experiment number eleven as they call her. She is just IT for them, not a person.
The other kids decide to go after her. Two of them stay behind and the wards try to kill them, too, while the others are on the rescue mission...
****************
I liked the action pace style and the plot of this novel.
Maybe the characters were not very deep and there could have been more differences in between them.. however, it was entertaining to read.
