I've read a lot of books by Robyn Carr. She is one of favorite authors. This book; however, was definitely one of her weaker ones. I felt as those she glossed over most of the story. I really did not care for Bev at all. She was so frustrating I just wanted to shake her. Honestly, I was glad when the story ended.

I have never read a book by Robyn Carr that I did not get lost in. She is my all time favorite author. Can't wait to get started on the next one. But need more Virgin River please. I'm addicted........
Getting Out of Hand (Sapphire Falls) :: A Virgin River Christmas (A Virgin River Novel) :: Whispering Rock (Virgin River) :: Swept Away :: Paradise Valley (A Virgin River Novel)

I was very disappointed in this Robyn Carr book. I have read so many of them that I enjoyed, but this one was teriible. I deleted it off my Kindle before even finishing it. The preview gave no indication that it was a bible thumper.

From time to time I like to read favorite author’s earlier works to see how their writing style has developed. When I saw this one discounted for Kindle, I gave it a try.
This is a lighthearted tale of a widow, Beverly, who “gave up on God” for allowing her much-loved husband Bob to die slowly and in great pain as she tries to go on in her life for the sake of their children. Every woman she knows wants to set her up with a “nice guy.” It seems there is always something wrong with them.
Coerced into doing artwork and helping out with a local church’s kids Christmas program, she is working with the attractive single, thirty-something assistant Pastor, Joe. Joe is immediately interested in her. She keeps telling him she is not interested; he persists. Their interplay, starting with the church project, as he overcomes her resistance brought smiles to my face, along with occasional chuckles.
The writing style is clearly Robyn Carr, with a little less fleshed-out secondary characters compared to her current novels. I enjoyed it.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book....with that title. But since I enjoy many of her books I gave it a try. It is very different but I truly liked the interaction between the characters Bev & Joe and I feel that anyone could identify with them (their thoughts, questions, struggles on faith). This is now one of my favorite Robyn Carr novels.

I was surprise to see that Robyn even wrote like this. The main gal was a bitch from start to, well I didn't bother reading to far in. I do love Robyn's Virgin River series and Thunder Point series.

This was a really interesting story about a woman who didn't believe in God but got involved with a minister. Through his understanding and caring actions, she came back to her faith. It was an easy to read story, even for a 93 year old woman to read.

I am a huge fan of Robyn Carr but found this book difficult to read. Characters seemed one dimensional, shallow in development and difficult to relate to. Dialogue was stilted and unnatural with little emotional connection. I finished the book but did not enjoy it like other Robyn Carr books.

Beverly needed a swift kick in the butt to move the story along a little faster, and Joe should've kicked her to the curb to wake her up. It was a good story line, but a little slow getting to the point.

The story presents characters with real life problems. The characters also show that there is hope facing those problems. Enjoyed how the characters supported each other. It made their life realistic and there is hope in life.

What a wonderful story about hope and love, the strength of family and God's love. Robyn Carr continues to create real characters living all life's joys and hardships... And making it through with love

I've read Robyn Carr's newer books, but this one is a real jewel. The very tender story of a man of God, who sweetly and persistently seeks to win the heart of a broken and wounded widow and mother. A beautiful love story about a woman who is afraid to love again and the man whose faith gives him the strength to not walk away. Lovely.

I am not reviewing this book until I read it. I look forward to taking my time to read this book. It certainly has mixed reviews. Robin is one of my favorite author's. I have had the experience that it takes time to get into some of her books. Well will let you know my review. I read sometimes up to 6 books a week.

I enjoyed this novel by Robyn Carr. I picked it up on a one day deal and because it had raving reviews.
While the book was sweet and interesting, the characters relatable and likable, I felt that the plot dragged on just a little too long and felt redundant.
The issues she addressed and the relationship between the two main characters were well written. While the reader could understand the hesitancy of Bev engaging in another lifelong commitment, and Joe's desire to be in one with her, it seemed to finally take a significant life event for her to finally agree.
Having been a fan of many of Robyn Carr's novels, I enjoyed "Tempted," but didn't feel it was one of her best. But then again, it was written back in 1987...
All in all I would recommend it for a beach read or a rainy day read. And yes, it does have a HEA ending.

When Beverley's husband died, she was left to raise 2 small boys on her own. After several years, family and friends try setting her up on dates. After the last one she said no more. Only her obgyn didn't get the message.
Enter Joe who is a minister. The problem is she doesn't believe in God anymore. She lost her faith when her husband was killed. Joe has found who he has been searching for. That Beverly has 2 boys, doesn't matter. It was a fun read.
