After reading the first book in the Sapphire Falls series by Erin Nicholas, I was in love--with Sapphire Falls and with the characters that live there. Mason is my newest book boyfriend, and Adrienne is my hero(ine) for taking charge of her life and making dramatic changes in her life, not just once, but twice. My only criticism is not the writing but the format/editing. Change of scene and point of view are at times abrupt with no hint of the change, causing me more than once to have to do a quick double take to catch up. I would like some kind of space or indicator formatted into the text to show the changes. This is my second time reading this, and I look forward to revisiting the rest of this series.

Awful! This book was so terrible I wish I could give it no stars. Mason is a nerd turned wealthy need asked to come to his hometown to give donations for a potential strip mall. He meets Adrienne and after a couple of hours they end of having sex in a parking lot and on the hood of a car.Two days later they are madly in love. What? This book was billed as a love story but it was lust personified. The only connection they had was on a physical one. I didn't feel they were emotionally connected at all.

I have read 7 or 8 other books from Erin Nicholas and enjoyed them all. I was surprisingly disappointed in this book. For the most part, it was boring. Not much happened. There was too much exposition about what the main characters (especially Adrianne) were thinking. The first time I started the book I only got through the first 10-15 pages. The second time, I managed to read about 65%, but was so bored and frustrated with the characters that I quit (which is unlike me). The characters' relationships was very physical (duh!), but there was really nothing else to go along with that. The drama of the story line felt very manufactured, and I kepot thing that if they would just have a conversation, then they could very easily work things out.

I've really enjoyed all of your books, but sometimes little things/errors drive me crazy. An IQ of 136 is NOT a genius. People at that level are definitely smart, but not tom the level you've described. A genius IQ is usually considered to be about 160. I know this is nitpicking, but it's a needless small mistake often seen in books of this type.

Interesting read but I had a hard time getting into it as it is about some young professonal people ( the lead is a genius scientist) and his medical team. He, Mason has been working on a cure for world hunger and he has excellent support but, even though Erin Nicholas usually writes contemporary romance novels; this one drags a bit. NOT my favorite read but semi-interesting.

The two main characters have sex in the parking lot the first time they meet - not as 'horny teenagers' but 'professional' adults? Huh? Heat is great but stupid sex in public is dumb. Please - we barely know these two and they know less about one another than we do!

“Getting Out of Hand” is the first book in Erin Nicholas’ new series, Sapphire Falls. I absolutely loved this book! Read it in less than a day! In this book, we meet Mason Riley and Adrianne Scott.

Mason used to live in Sapphire Falls, Nebraska, but he hasn’t been back in town for several years now. While he’s been away, he worked hard to become a successful scientist alongside his business partner and friend, Lauren. Together they run Innovative Agricultural Solutions. Simply put, Mason is a genius. He was a nerd back in high school, but now, he’s successful, rich, and extremely hot! The mayor of Sapphire Falls and one-time crush, Hailey, invited him to come back for an alumni weekend. He is one of five investors that the town invited to come listen to what their plans are for the land. Mason has no interest in going. He was humiliated by Hailey in a public outing and doesn’t want to see her. Why should he help her by selling the land his family owns?

Meanwhile, Adrianne Scott moved to Sapphire Falls a few years back. She used to live in Chicago where she and her brothers ran a successful family-owned chocolate business. But due to a health scare and a constant busy schedule, she moved to Sapphire Falls to get away from the stress. She works for Hailey, but she also still loves creating chocolate and has hopes of opening her own store in town. The problem is the land the town wants Mason to sell is where her store and other potential stores would be. How can she tell this to the man she’s falling in love with without him getting mad at her? She has Hailey pressuring her to convince him to sell this land.

When Mason and Adrianne meet each other for the first time, there was an immediate connection. I loved this pairing so much! They were just so refreshing especially Mason! When they would hook up, it was like Adrianne was the spark that kept Mason’s ideas flowing. He’s so smart. His mind kept running. The first time they made out, there was no pad of paper for Mason to write the formula he was working on, so Adrianne offered to let him write on her. That was hot! It also became their thing. Adrianne saw him for him. She accepted his nerdiness and found it irresistible.

Any fan of Erin Nicholas will love her latest series! She had me smiling and laughing all throughout this book! Such a wonderful introduction into her new series! I can’t wait for Phoebe and Joe’s story next month in “Getting Worked Up!”

The author said Mason is a genius with an IQ of 136. That is NOT a genius. High IQ is 140 up. Genius is 160 up.
I wonder why the author put in the lesbian PDA on the airplane especially since Adrienne is not bisexual or
lesbian. Did she slip that in to be trendy with the approval of gay marriages now? It just didn't add to the story.

I found this story really cliché and predictable. Nerdy guy turns gorgeous, has sex and falls in love with "regular girl" instantly, and so on. It was really contrived and painful to read at some points.

I purchased tis mistake, but decided to read it, much to my displeasure. I thought it was awful, and did not deserve even one star! Too bad publishers trick us into purchasing a book with a cover designed to resemble a "famous" author! I hope to not let this happen again!

SO boring and unbelievable, characters lacked depth and development- I frankly didn't care what they did, who they did it with, or what happened to them... The premise of the book sounded good, and it had tons of great reviews on the store. I can't even put words together to describe how bad it truly was, though. All the elements were there, plot, characters, setting, etc, but it never gelled, the characters were never developed into people I cared anything about. Nothing about this story WORKED, and I deleted it from my device when I was near the end, having given it more than enough time to come together. I simply did not care what happened.

Whole book should have been no longer than two chapters. When main charters are already stripping off there clothes in the parking lot, on the hood of a car, and they have only known each other for a couple of hours? Well not much else can happen to make this a meaningful relationship.

I tried to like this book, but had to give up halfway through. Both the premise and the characters were just not believable. Mason had the most contradictory personality, he is very confident with women but is worried what the guys will think of him. It was not what I would ever picture a leading male to be.

Interesting story line and characters. Too much detail in sex scenes for me. Seems to be the style but rolling it back will not hurt story at all. Author is too creative to let that hurt. Would have given five stars otherwise.

Title: Getting Out of Hand

Series: Sapphire Falls Book #1

Author: Erin Nicholas

Genre: Romance

Blurb: Genius scientist Mason Riley can cure world hunger, impress the media and piss off the Vice President of the United States all before breakfast. But he’s not sure he can get through his high school class reunion. Then he meets the new girl in town. Adrianne Scott loves Sapphire Falls. The sleepy little town has been the perfect place to escape her fast-paced, high stress lifestyle. Her only plans now include opening her candy shop and living a quiet, drama-free life.
Until Mason Riley bids four hundred dollars just to dance with her. Mason sure doesn’t look—or kiss—like a genius scientist geek. In fact, he makes Adrianne’s heart pound like nothing she’s ever experienced. Passion like this with a guy who travels the world and parties at the White House should probably be a red flag for a girl who wants a simple boring life.
Good thing no one falls in love in a weekend.

Thoughts: As soon as I pick up something from Erin Nicholas, I know I am guaranteed a good read. I have not read a single book by her that I didn't love, and this one is no different. I was especially excited for this one, since I was a little down after reading the last book in her Counting on Love series (which I was particularly connected with). I loved that series and hated to see the end of it. So, to be introduced to an all new series, with all new characters? Simply heaven....:)

I loved the characters of Mason (the former high school nerd turned rich sexy hunk) and Adrianne (the former workaholic turned small town country girl). I mean who thought a bunch of math gibberish could be so sexy? Mason can write notes on me anytime!...LOL I think this book is the perfect start to a new series, and I can't wait to see some of the other characters get their own story! The downside? I think this one lacks a little bit of that special something that we know and love from her Bradford/Counting on Love tales. It's still great....c'mon, it's Erin!....but it just has a small spark that seems absent in this one. I can't even really pinpoint what it was...but I look forward to rediscovering it in the next book!

Getting Out of Hand by Erin Nicholas is a very cute small town romance about a former geek, (who loves working with dirt and farming) who comes back to the town who never really understood him and meets the woman of his dreams. Fans of contemporary romance will get a kick out of this one, although after 3 days, the hero and heroine are already saying “I love you” to one another, which is not realistic at all. But I shrugged it off because the couple had great chemistry together and their “love” was believable to me.

Mason has a killer IQ, looks and is a pretty confident guy, even though when he was a teen, he was somewhat awkward. He was two years ahead of everyone in school and didn’t really interact well with his peers. He had a crush on Hailey, the most popular girl in school who ends up embarrassing him in public because he thought after they kissed, she would want to date him. Years later, Mason is asked to come back to the town to help it out. The land he owns is part of the town’s plan to build extra business, and bring in more revenue. Mason has to agree, but Hailey is the mayor, the girl who made him look like a fool.

Adrianne is Hailey’s assistant, who left Chicago for the small town life after she had a minor heart attack. She dreams of opening a candy store, which would be on Mason’s land. She arrived in Sapphire Falls long after Mason left. When he returns one night, he visits the bar where she, and some other women are being auctioned off for dances for charity. Mason pays a hefty amount to dance with Adrianne. That’s when the sparks between both begins. Hailey seems interested in Mason, and not just because she wants his land. Mason wants Adrianne because after a day or so, she understands his motivations and who he is. They bond, kiss, make out, and in 3 days are in love. But Mason might end up on the other side of the world for a special job that may last over 6 months. He wants Adrianne to come with him, but she loves her life in Sapphire Falls. Will these two make it work or just go along with a few day fling (even though they’re head over heels in love with one another?) and then say bye-bye?

Getting out of Hand is really cute. Mason is a combination of sexy and sweet, plus more on the beta hero side. Adrianne is perfect for him. Their chemistry is excellent and they connect on a great level. If you can get passed the insta-love trope here, you’ll enjoy Getting out of Hand. Overall a solid romance.

First I have to say I have read and loved all of Erin's books. This is just makes the list longer. This was truly an instant true love book. I so so so love nerdy men and Mason was a a well built nerd at that! Then there was Adrianne. She was such a neat change from other female characters. I loved her dirty talk. You do not always see that in female characters as the instigator of such talk. But she was so fun to read. The way she went for it with Mason each time they were together, even after just meeting. Loved their instantaneous chemistry! The story line was great. Flowed quickly and had funny parts as well as sad and endearing moments. Now I will have to impatiently wait for the next book in the series. Cannot wait!

If you loved The Bradford’s and Dixon’s you will love Sapphire Falls. Who knew nerds could be sexy. Mason comes back to the town he left 11 years ago a different person but not a different person. The last thing he expected to find when he returned was love. Adrianne moved to Sapphire Falls to get out of a faced paced life that was going to kill her. She didn’t expect to fall for the hunky nerd who had few good memories of the town she now loves. This story had love, romance, comedy, and sex with caramel sauce what else could you ask for.

Getting Out of Hand is the first book in the Sapphire Falls series.

Mason Riley is the genius returning to his small hometown, and Adrianne Scott has come to Sapphire Falls to escape the stress of her big-city life.

These two hit it off right away, and their chemistry and banter is so fun and entertaining. I loved the way Mason's intelligence was incorporated into the love scenes!

I do wish the timeframe for them falling in love had been a bit longer, but it was still a great read.

I look forward to reading about the secondary characters in the other Sapphire Falls books.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much this book made me smile. Heartwarming with lots sizzle is exactly how I would describe it. I won’t fluff this book up and tell you it was the most amazing dang book I’ve ever read, but it -was- a really good book. I would definitely recommend it to those that enjoy a good love story.

Mason is rich, intelligent, witty, straight forward, and he just wants to do his job! So when his best friend tells him to leave, literally, and get out of Chicago for awhile, he heads back to his hometown, Sapphire Falls. This is a guy who hasn’t been back in years, has no reason to go back and basically suffered one of the most humiliating moments of his life there. He’s grown up, matured and made a success of himself and now they want -him-. He just wants to save the world one tomato seed at a time, not deal with all the political hoopla.

Adrianne is originally from Chicago herself. This woman comes from a fast-paced, incredibly stressful world, where it’s nothing but go-go-go and I’m not just talking about her job. Her whole lifestyle and society just doesn’t let up. Then something happens to her that makes her flee Chicago and that way of life. She ends up in Sapphire Falls, learns to love denim, and a completely laid back way of life instead.

I can’t say these two meet with a bang and go up in smoke, but Mason does waltz in and pay $400 for three dances with Adrianne. She knows exactly who he is and he doesn’t know her at all because she’s a new face in town. (At least for him) She’s also intriguing however, and sees through all the political what-not around him. She actually sees -him-, the guy that likes to watch plants grow and play in the dirt. He comes to understand her, and she just makes things click for him, often at the most random times. (It’s a good thing she keeps a pen handy!) This leads to some twists and turns along the way. They fall in love, but that love is tested and it’s interesting to see how they both handle the issues that stand in their way.

Erin has a way of telling a story that sucks you in, makes you laugh, and makes you believe in the characters and their journey. For this series, she had alot of pressure since her last one just rocked my world so I was excited to see if she could do it again. Success! Success! Success! I LOVE the dichotomy of the two main characters in this book with an egghead hottie male and a hardworking sweet yet tenacious female. From the very first dancing scene, I was hooked and I think the path that Erin took us down was realistic and believable... as well as emotional but fun. You will love the funny scenes along with the hilarious banter back and forth of these two, OH and the COMBUSTIBLE sexiness whenever they get near one another.  Very excited to see the next story as Erin did a great job setting it up and making me excited to keep on going through Sapphire Falls!

Leaving behind Sapphire Falls and his nerdy past, scientist Mason Riley now has the perfect life. He’s learnt how to dress, how to woo the women, and earned his fortune along the way putting his skills to use in the scientific world.

Then along comes a letter to change everything. He is wanted back in Sapphire Falls by the one that he has always wondered about, Hailey Connor. After much deliberation, Mason returns to the small town to look into a business proposal presented by Hailey. But once there, it’s not Hailey he focuses on, but her offsider and newcomer to town, Adrianne Scott.

The attraction pulls both ways, but Adrianne is stuck in an unenviable position of trying to save the town while trying not to upset Mason. Adrianne needs this development to fulfil owning her dream shop, but at what price to her relationship with Mason?

An entertaining read as the main characters try to work their way around each other without their feelings being known without questions about ulterior motives and women from the past causing what they have to possibly fizzle out before if even begins.

Not only has the author managed to provide two lovable main characters, but she has also providing a supporting cast that leaves you laughing with their small town antics.

Looking forward to reading the rest!

The first book in a new series Sapphire Falls, by Erin Nicholas, will not disappoint readers. I read this book in one day, could not put it down. I love to read how nerds turn hot in adult life and that is what Mason does. He returns home after being gone for eleven years for a class reunion where he meets Adrianne, new to town. There is a sizzling chemistry between these two.
There are plenty of secondary characters just waiting their turn for a story. Looking forward to many return trips to Sapphire Falls.

I've been a fan of this author for some time. I loved the Bradford series and the Counting series. However, I think she really missed the mark with this book. I kept thinking maybe it was just a slow start and it would get better, but it just never did. Maybe it's just me, but I found the novel boring. I am hoping the next installment in the series is better because I don't want to l lose one of my favorite authors.

78% through. It was good but turned to drivel. The scared to fly and predictable break up out of fear is imminent, yes we know she will overcome it. The jargon and repeating idea of how he belongs to the world and bff lecturing on trying to be normal was gross. The ideas are good, but the same phrases and ideas are repeated too much and I gotta get away from the characters.

This had loads of potential but I think the author was too heavy handed towards the end of the book. The relationship between the H and his lesbian best friend was way too overpowering and diminished his budding relationship with the h. Also the best friend was incredibly manipulative and got away with 'murder' in my opinion - she deserved some sort of payback but she came off smelling like roses and it was annoying.

Erin Nicholas knows how to tell a compelling story. Well done.
I can't wait to read the next book.

This is my first book of the author and in the beginning I was a bit skeptical if I would like it. But as the story progresses it takes a good turn and I really like the way the characters are portrayed distinctively yet minimalistic description..

The only backdrop was that there is no separation or chapters as such.. It gets annoying real quick if you realize that the two consecutive lines belong to different scenes or sometimes different places all together...

Small town life at it's best. Interesting characters who are self absorbed but willing to work together for the good of the town and a nerdy former citizen. Includes some national and international political maneuvering. A fun read.

This was rather a long book to read and at first I thought the storyline was developing too slow but as I got further into the book, I was totally hooked. Mason was your typical nerd in high school, never quite fitting especially since he was two years younger than the others in his class after skipping several grades. Never feeling "normal", during college he was taken under the wing of Lauren, who later became his business partner and the awkward nerd became one of the richest and hottest genius's around. Because of his money, Mason was invited back to Sapphire Falls and he found that mister unpopular was now everyone's favorite person. However, everyone seemed to be faking their attraction, except Adrienne, the assistant to Hailey, the Mayor of Sapphire Falls who happens to be his high school crush and the girl who totally humiliated him by publically rejecting his advances. Adrienne seems to "get" Mason and finds his quirks and "non-normal" tendencies quite sexy. Their instant attraction seems to interfere and conflict with all the best laid plans the town has for Sapphire Hills, the new shopping center that the Mayor wants to build on the farm land that Mason inherited. This is really a sweet love story with some very hot and sexy sex scenes that I thought were well written and integral to the book. I will never think of chemical equations and caramel sauce the same way after reading this book. Do yourself a favor and buy this book, you will be glad you did.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.

Sapphire Falls wanted to build a shopping center with stores offering home made crafts from the locals. Adrianne Scott worked for Hailey Conner who had the great idea to invite investors that had grown up in their town who now had money to invest in the shopping center.Adrianne was profiling each of the men. Mason Riley was the name with the most wealth and the least to want to go back. He was a genius and skipped fifth and sixth grades. He never fit in with the “normal” people and had a crush on Hailey Conner. Hailey ended up embarrassing him and he still thought about that. Mason was not going to go for the weekend that was planned, but his partner at his company, Lauren, talked him into going. Mason was comfortable talking about his seeds, helping third world countries, and talking about his business. He wasn’t great talking about simple things that most people did. Adrianne found him very interesting. They both had an instant connection which was hard for Mason to understand. Mason was logical and this was not logical. You need to read the book to see what happens.

I loved the book and all the characters. Erin did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life and making you feel you wanted to be there with them. It was great seeing Mason feel comfortable in his home town for the first time. Adrianne was good for Mason. I encourage you to read the book.

*Leave it to bestselling author Erin Nicholas to give us another steamy romance in her "Sapphire Falls" hit series beginning with this one book 1 where it all started.......(18+)...........Not wanting to return to his hometown of Sapphire Falls, Nebraska, world reknowned agricultural engineer, and scientist,Mason Riley kept reading the letter he received that very morning. It was written by Mayor Haily Connor herself, the girl he kissed once in High School and the girl who humiliated him the very next day in front of everyone. Why would he want to go back or more importantly, why did the town even invite him back in the first place? He already knew the answer to that question and it was because he was now rich, famous ad consistently working with the White House getting them all riled up whenever it was necessary, besides they not only wanted his money to invest but they wanted his land too. Being in charge of the most elite lab in the world by discovering ways to end world hunger, Mason had no intentions of ever going back there not now, not ever again. Adrianne Scott loved her new life in Sapphire Falls but being the new assistant to Haily Connor wasn't all that easy as some people thought. With the plans of the new shopping mall in front of her, one of Adrianne's jobs was to find investors and out of all the faces she found in the papers, one in particular caught her attention and she was hypnotized by his good looks. Mason couldn't believe he was actually back in Sapphire Falls as he stood in the only place in town that sold a drink but as he looked around the room, he wondered if the gorgeous Haily Connor was there, the one girl who could get any man she wanted. As soon as he realized that there was a dance about to start, he was told it was actually an auction to see who bought how many tickets to dance with the girl of their choosing and how long. Wondering if he should buy a ticket to dance with Haily, all hopes were dashed when he suddenly saw the gorgeous blonde with the sexy laugh and found himself buying four-hundred dollars worth of tickets to dance and dance only with the beautiful Adrianne Scott. Adrianne knew from his picture that Mason Riley was good looking but he was so much more and suddenly she was so smitten, she couldn't hide her reaction for the man but she also had a deep respect at what he did for a living even if she did have an ulterior motive for inviting him. When Mason and Adrianne's relationship intensifies, wrong conclusions, misguided interpretations and a visit from Mason's business partner change everything forcing Adrianne to make a heart breaking decision. Hurt by a betrayal, Mason is also faced with one of the most tragic decisions of his life. Can they go through with these difficult decisions? Or was it love getting out of hand just the way it was supposed to happen all along?..........great series so far.......thank you.....♡♡

What a great story of fate and love. Mason fled Sapphire Hills after high school. He was a prodigy and is now a rich well known scientist. Adrienne fled the crazy business work after a heat attack at 27 for the simple life. She is helping to get money from now well known residents of the town so they can build a shopping center for the town. Mason shows up and sparks fly. They are instantly attracted and the original plan is gone. Lots of excitement to get them to the end, but there's HEA that is sweet!

What an amazing start to a new contemporary romance series by Erin Nicholas! I have read almost all of her other books and always fall in love with her heros and heroines. You instantly fall for Mason as he returns to his hometown for his high school reunion even though he would rather be anywhere but. Adrianne is the new girl to Sapphire Falls looking to open her candy shop. When these two meet sparks fly! But can the genius who never wanted to return and the girl looking for peace and quiet figure out to make it work?

Getting Out of Hand: I loved Adrienne and Mason's Hot Romance. I loved Lauren and Mason's strong friendship. It was great how Mason struggled to go back home after a decade of being away from a small town. Sapphire Falls is a great small town that I would even love to live in. I loved how Erin Nicholas told the story brings you in like your part of the family. I loved the whole story!

Cannot figure best selling status for this book, must be good marketing. Whole book disappointing., .steamy reported sex is quirky and almost non existent. Theme juvenile portrayed. Writing like some quickie for sales rather than content. Very disappointing but well edited and with more writing skill and throw in talent could be rewritten into somewhat more.

The first in a series of Sapphire Falls stories. This is interesting, especially when one considers the separate careers of the h/h. Humorous, and love wins out in the end, although you get to wonder about that throughout.

What can I say about this fantastic book? New series, new characters, but the fun, excitement and sexiness continues in Erin Nicholas' new book.

Mason, our hero, has a high IQ and has moved on from being a nerd in high school to being wealthy, sexy and smart. His partner convinces him to go back to his hometown because she needs a break and the town wants to buy the land that he inherited long ago.

Adrianne, our heroine, moved to Sapphire Falls a few years after suffering a health crisis and wants to open up a candy shop.

The two meet and there you have it-one explosive and sexy ride! This is a book that I did not want to put down and wanted to read more about the various characters in the town. Fabulous book!

If you haven't read an Erin Nicholas book, you are seriously missing out! This was a great story in a new setting for Erin, but she definitely started her new series out with a BANG!
The characters were well developed, but you had to wonder why they couldn't figure out the happily-ever-after before they actually did. It was so obvious that they were perfect for each other, but you can count on Erin to make it all come together in the end!
Great piece of work - looking forward to the next one!

I admit, I am a big fan of anything by Erin Nicholas, so it's no surprise I really enjoyed this book! A great combination of steamy and unique, with a small-town setting but a global mindset. Erin Nicholas has written two great main characters and a host of their friends who I just can't wait to read about! This book was full of hilarious moments and touching interactions, and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on copies of the rest of the series.

I received this book as a gift and have chosen to review.

A great story. Adrienne moves to a small town after her heart attack to get awAy from everything. Mason comes back to town because his partner forces him to and meets her. They form a bond and the town wants her to get him to sell his land but there is much more involved. Loved th story about the two of them. I volunteered to read this book for an advanced reader copy
