This is a new author for me. He introduces a lot of characters and I really don't want to commit to 5 stars until I have all of them straight in my mind. Once I understand those interactions, then the stories should be better.

I bought this looking for something to kill some time while waiting for the next book in The Dresden Files; mostly based on the amount of good reviews it has received. I made it maybe 6 chapters in, but I just couldn't do it. It was excruciating just getting that far.

The characters are flat... they really have no depth at all. The main character is supposed to be 2100 years old, but he just comes off incredibly immature. Other than that I'd say my main complaint is that despite the fact that the setting and idea seem very interesting... in writing about it something that makes stories interesting is lost for me. It lacks something I am not able to quantify. I don't recommend it at all.

I absolutely love this series!! The characters and world that Mr. Hearne created are strong, fun, and complex. The books are so well-written that they just draw you in and you believe. The interactions between the characters feels so genuine and sometimes had me howling with laughter! I love Oberon (Atticus' Irish Wolfhound, with whom he can speak telepathically) and the widow next door. The author has a gift with dialogue, world, and character building that will take him a long way. I will definitely read The Iron Druid Chronicles over and over again! Please pick up this series and let it captivate you, too! Great news, too! Book 4, Tricked, is due out in April 2012!!

The Iron Druid Chronicles Series: Clan Rathskeller (0.5), Kaibab Unbound (0.6), Hounded (1), Hexed (2), Hammered (3), A Test of Mettle (3.1), Tricked (4), Trapped (5), Hunted (6)
Crimes Against Magic (The Hellequin Chronicles Book 1) :: An Iron Druid Chronicles Novella (The Iron Druid Chronicles) :: Hammered (Iron Druid Chronicles) :: Oberon's Meaty Mysteries: The Purloined Poodle :: Scorched Shadows (The Hellequin Chronicles Book 7)

I was given this book as a gift while participating in a Monthly Bilnd Date With a Book. The theme last month was mythology. So I figured I would at least 'like' it. What was keeping me skeptical was the Male author. I'm not a exist I swear but aside from Robert J Crane most modern male authors writing styles just don't cater to my liking. I say most because I can think of a couple others that have surprised me.

However back to business.

I loved everything about this book. The characters, the writing & storyline, the dialouges, and Oberon.

That dog by far makes these books!

I read these in two days. But in those two days I did NOTHING. I was am Iron druid junkie! I'll definitely be buying every book after, but because of my laziness I now have chores to do, Ciao!

This is a set of the first three book in this series, at a pretty low price. I originally bought the first book in audio format and after listening to it for 30 minutes, I bought the complete series in audio from me while I drive and and this Kindle set for my wife.

The lead character is fun, sarcastic and interesting as he runs his new age shop in Arizona. Everyone thinks he is a 21 year old college kid with tattoos, but he has lived much longer.

spoilers below:

In the hounded/hexed/hammered universe, all religions and deities coexist. The Tuatha Da Dannon from Celtic legions are the primary gods in the first book, but you also meet characters from other believe systems, including Navajo, Norse, Christian, Hindu and so on.

It's a great read.

Kevin Hearne's The Iron Druid Chronicles 3-Book Bundle
Hounded; Hexed; Hammered
Series: The Iron Druid Chronicles
by Kevin Hearne

Any fans of Jim Butcher's Dresden files are going to love this series, and the best part is you can get them from the online lending library, thus ensuring instant gratification! I really enjoyed this series, it had all the earmarks of a great science fiction novel, good friends, a pet that can communicate with it's owner, some pretty cool magic stuff, and multiple planes of existence. Throw in a vampire and a werewolf lawyer, & you've got gold. Unlike Harry Dresden, this Hero of ours is a Druid, technically the LAST Druid on earth, and he's older than dirt, but only looks 21, wish I could pull that off. I confess I gobbled all three up in 1 weekend recuperating from a bad cold, and was so much warmer for it. Can't wait to read his next work.

This series by kevin hearne is without a doubt well worth the read. The main character makes you want to go to Arizona, find him and become his friend. ( and his little dog too) the story weaves around real Irish tales and you get to learn to speak the language. Also a sprinkle of nordic, russian and other assorted tongues are thrown in. The writer put my kindle dictionary to good use with his verbal repertoire, i love new words!! Most importantly, this is a well written tale of kindness, fantasy and some good ole fashioned butt kickery. I look forward to book 7 with baited breath.

An excellent series! This series may not create the emotional investment in the characters that I normally require for a 5 star review, but this series makes up for it by delivering a character in superhero style. If you like hero stories, like Thor, Superman, Spiderman, etc. (With a near immortal and near invincible main character,) you will love this series. It's refreshing to be released from the emotional heaviness and massive drama found in books like Twilight. You read this series to find out how the character wins this time, and what hilarious things are done and said. 5 stars, and I will be reading anything else this author releases.

Fun, suspenseful, imaginary, entertaining, and the intelligent banter of characters (in particular between the main character and his wolfhound) made for a very enjoyable read. I gave four stars only because there were the occasional slow down periods of the storyline pace that allowed me to leave the book set for a day or two every once - but only a few times. Great character development however, and I enjoyed the various sub-plots and character entanglements that made me wanting to read more.

I read on average 5-8 books a week and I wound up reading these 4 books in one weekend. I am so ready for the 5th one. It covers all of my interest including world religion, pop culture, nerd-ism, geek stuff, classical literature and animal lover. It appeals to the Renaissance Man in you.
Buy it you will not be disappointed.

As a voracious reader, every once in a while, I get to the point wher I lay down the last book and think, "Is there nothing else good to read?". I've seen these titles around and decided to risk the purchase price. Three books and 4 days later, I'm hoping there is a lot more of Mr. Hearne's stuff around! What a great discovery. Magnificent stuff.

Great books but again the 3 book bundle costs more than the 3 books individually. Plus Kindle handles 3 individual books better than a bundle. Go buy them for $5.99 individually and save a few cents.

All the good are real?! The whole book kept me interested from the first page. I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to get my hands on the next one. Sometimes the battle scenes are a little long, but te humo in between them makes up for it.

The characters in Hearne's Iron Druid Chronicles are very well thought out. The reader cares about them and wants to read more to find out more about them --especially Oberon, the faithful and clever wolfhound.
