I am a picky reader, and there are so many poorly written books available through Kindle Unlimited that I have learned to keep my expectations low. Child of the Daystar bucked the trend...interesting characters, enough complexity, a good story arc, and solid editing. Looking forward to reading the next!

This is the kind of book that reminds me why I read Fantasy. A compelling story with well developed characters, excellent writing and vivid descriptions. The author doesn't waste our time with repetitive explanations, he lets the actions and thoughts of his characters speak for themselves and sweeps us along in the irresistible current of his imagination.

I really enjoyed this book. I didn't think I would get so in to it but I kept reading and reading wanting to know what would happen to Raz next ! I like the dialect between the characters. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book!

The characters are developed and engaging. They draw the reader's interest and concern. The action is well balanced, not hyperactive but active enough to keep the reader's interest. There are also several unexplored threads that beg to be followed in future books.

For myself, I like a "capable" main character and that is certainly Raz!

This is a great fantasy series. I read a lot, and hardly ever leave reviews, but this series is worthy of my time and effort if I can get someone else to pick it up and enjoy it as much as I did. Give this series a shot, you won't regret it.

Really enjoyed this book. It is a interesting and fun take on an old trope (prophesied child). I would like to see the dichotomy of beast and "man" expounded upon, as well as more insight into the lizard people culture in the next book.

I truly enjoyed this book. It grabbed me from the start and I finished it in 1 sitting. Having the main character be a non-human living in a human world was a refreshing twist. I can't wait to read the next one.

I have this book 5 stars because the story is one that pulls you in and keeps you reading. I am a huge fan of fantasy and this is an awesome start to a new series. I look forward to the following books!

Absolutely fantastic book, I would highly recommend reading it! Child Of the Daystar is not all that it might first seem and from the start I was completely hooked and couldn't put it down. Following Raz's tale takes you on a journey that completely draws you in, leaving you close to tears some moments and then gripping the edge of your seat at others. A well deserved 5 star rating. I will be adding Bryce O'Connor to my list of favorite authors and will eagerly await book two!

This was a very fun read. Tons of action and the fight scenes were very well written. Reads like a comic book with no pictures. I also appreciated the absence of gratuitous sex. I binge read this one and can't wait for the sequel.

This book was the first one i have finished in qute a while. As such i read a bit slower than usual which didnt help with the intriging but slow trod of the story. With that being said, once the story found its pace it was quite hard to put down. I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to continue this amazing adventure in the next chapter ( or book rather )

Cleverly built world, entertaining characters and a plotline that moves right along. O'Connor even has that rare skill for providing details and descriptions without slowing the action. Well done, I look forward to future works with great anticipation

Are you trawling Kindle Unlimited looking for a good fantasy read? Don't like typos and grammar mistakes? Ready for some old-fashioned brutal melee battles and a compelling, somewhat tortured, reptilian protagonist? Get up in here and read this book. Unless you're squeamish, you won't regret it. Really.

Fast paced and well built, sucked in despite myself.

the store however has an aggressive eBook monopoly the app constantly crashes and loses your place. Only the most evil entities in history have attempted to control information. Someday we will become wise to our lack of choices, although probably too late already.

I was shocked with how much I enjoyed this book. A wonderful pace and flow in his writing, I particularly enjoyed O'Connor's use of protagonists who do not fit in the typical image of heroes. From the nomadic tribe culture that is usually discounted to the reptilian warrior that is Raz, it was a pleasing change of characters for his main cast.

This book is a great and easy read. It's simple, yet intricate in its plot and I am excited to see where is goes in the rest of the series. It stands on its own of course but there is an overarching plot that I am very interested in. Great character development and it flows very well. I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the fantasy genre.

I really enjoyed this book. The pace of the action is unleashed in the first few pages and never really lets up from there. The character development is smooth and I am looking forward to the next installment to see their continued growth. The locations of this world are harsh and unforgiving most of the time and the villains are as well. A superb read. I highly recommend it!

Unique and well crafted. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Often I find that the words them selfs can become impediments to the story. Their awkwardness jarring and burdensome. At other times the sum of their parts seems to lift off the page so that you forget the act of reading. This is one of those time. Highly recommended.

I was compelled by the plight of Raz i'Syul Arro, going through his humble beginnings to his violent rebirth. The book does suffer from some focus issues; any time spent away from Raz feels like bland filler. I am looking forward to continuing this series whenever I get through the other books on my list of reading material.

Mildly interesting main storyline; parallel storyline (most likely for connecting characters in a future book) not as engaging. Quality writing interrupted with unnecessary expletives that do not add to the characters or setting. While curious about main character, I was not grabbed enough to consider getting the next book and fitting it in to my busy life. It wasn't a book that rated as something to pursue further in my brief and infrequent down times.

Outstanding book. Well crafted story, plot twists, and great characters. Read all three books back to back because I was enthralled with the story. My wife is mad because I haven't talked to her for a week. Hurry up with book four!

Enjoyed the book until Raz went after his cousin and the slavers. Lost interest at that point but picked back up at the ending enough to read the next book. I would recommend this book to fantasy lovers.

Book moved along quite well with a good development of the main character and realistic description of the world as it goes from order to disorder. As unsavory as it is.
Entertaining with an interesting main character.

To me it seemed that this book would be a prequel to a series previously written as if it was going back and showing the audience how their favorite character came to be. Because of this I think Raz is a great character to read about and I will definitely be reading the rest of the series so I can found out how it will play out.

Very well written. One is the most unique story lines I've read in awhile. The characters were well fleshed out. The dialogue was enjoyable and meaningful. The story was well paced. The fight scenes were interesting.
I look forward to the next book.

A satisying read. A true pleasure. A spoiler it might be, but this story ends is how a story like this should end in its first of several. Thank you to the author. This was free on Kindle Unlimited (yeah, i know, subscription, whatever) , but I would gladly pay full book price for any books following this one.
