Winter's King (The Wings of War Book 3)
Winter's King (The Wings of War Book 3)

Review:This series of books has a little, or a lot in some cases, of everything. Action, adventure, magic and fighting. About the only thing missing missing is an actual romantic angle, or so it seemed. Great read, engaging until the last. Read more

The Call
The Call

Review:I don't know that I have ever read any books that were set in Ireland. That changed with this book. Ireland is cut off from the rest of the world and when kids reach a certain age they receive the call and have to enter in a contest where it is very hard to win. Nessa is the main character and she is handicapped. She doesn't want to be helped and doesn't play the woe is me card. This book takes some of the irish legends and uses them to make the story even more compelling. I loved this boo... Read more

Review:This was an interesting read. Not as captivating as her other novels, specifically, Lilith's Brood, and perhaps a bit redundant after reading that book...but otherwise I never regret reading Octavia Butler. I will use this format to suggest reading Lilith's Brood. It is one of my favorite series of all time. Her incredible imagery and nuanced writing about Ooloi and surviving humans is absolutely breathtaking. I think I may have enjoyed this book more if I hadn't read that one first. It is a 10\... Bloodcurdling Tales of Horror and the Macabre - The Best of H. P. Lovecraft
Bloodcurdling Tales of Horror and the Macabre - The Best of H. P. Lovecraft

Review:This book is the best in the series of short story collections issued by DelRey books, and probably contains the best collection of classic HPL stories available today. Here you have the best and most revered stories from Lovecraft's prime period of creativity. You can clearly see how influential this work has been for all horror fiction that has been written since. Clive Barker and Stephen King are definitely fans, and even movies like "Poltergeist" and "Ghostbusters" are clearly inspired by Lo... Read more

Review:I READ "THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS" AND THOUGHT: "WHO IS THIS AUTHOR"? I REALLY ENJOYED THAT BOOK. WELL, IF ONE LOOKS HIM UP ON THE INTERNET HE MYSTERIOUSLY KEEPS HIS IDENTITY AS THE AUTHOR OF THE FELIX CASTOR NOVELS A SECRET. NO CROSS CREDITS BETWEEN HIS M.R. CAREY WEBSITE AND HIS MIKE CAREY WEBSITE. PERHAPS IT IS BECAUSE OF HIS FAME AS AN AUTHOR OF COMIC BOOKS (EXCUSE ME, GRAPHIC NOVELS) AND HIS RELUCTANCE TO BUILD ON THAT FAME. WHATEVER IS THE CASE HIS WRITING IS GOOD. HOWEVER, AS FOR ... Read more

Born to be Bound (Alpha's Claim Book 1)

Review:Born to be Bound made me feel things I've never felt before. I've reread it so many times...and somehow the power of the emotions it invokes never fades.

First of all, the main character, Claire. She is someone who's essentially born into a position of weakness - an Omega. But throughout the book she doesn't just lay there and accept her fate, she fights back. She's real. I admire her strength and really really want her to be happy.

I love reading stories where there is that sort o... Read more

Day Zero (The Arcana Chronicles) (Volume 4)

Review:I loved getting to know the other players. In a way, it's kind of heartbreaking knowing most of them are still in this battle and will probably not make it out. To you Kresley, I say, if Jackson is not the hidden card... A lot of us will be disappointed. Read more
