Classics like these are in a world far above the child-like pleasures of most current day writers. I love my mystery writers and history books, but need a dose of premier writing talent from time to time.

The book arrived within three days and was in perfect condition. I'm glad I didn't live in the era in which Austen writes. I would have tired of changing my clothes three times a day, and I would have hated having visitors drop in at any time and then those visitors who stayed weeks at a time.

"Persuasion" is my favorite Jane Austen novel. It weaves a tale of hope to all who have lost a love in their past, with the amazing observations on life in a time long gone. It is a wonderful novel and I highly recommend it.

Jane Austen writes of enduring love, of strength of character. These are timeless lessons, lessons worth hearing in our world today - that we should carefully consider the wisdom of those who influence our lives and the power persuasion has on us.

This is a story of Jane Fairfax, as seen (or rather not seen) through the eyes of Emma.

Emma is a clueless, snobby, and judgmental person. She presumes herself above other humans and tries to decide their lives, forgetting herself human too; the game turns on the player.

The beginning is engaging until Mr. Elton section comes to an end. After that, Emma is removed from the center of action, and becomes a passive observer on the sidelines, and not a very sharp one at that.

The ending is undeservingly happy. Every smallest thing that could cause anyone vexation is smoothed away by the author's solicitous hand.

I'm so excited to have all of Jane Austen's Novels in one book. I've read through Sense and Sensibility and now I'm onto Pride and Prejudice. The print is a good readable size. I'm really enjoying this collection.

I found it very convenient to have all the novels of Jane Austen in one book. The print isn't so small that you can't see them and the book is sturdy so I don't have to worry about it falling apart from opening it so much. I've reallly enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone looking for Miss Austen's complete works. the store Rocks!

I thought the book was very good. It was my first read by this author and I will continue to read her other novels. I did at times get lost in her sometimes long conversations and I would have to back track a little to see who was talking or being talked about. Overall I would recommend this book and enjoyed it very much.

The heroine of Jane Austen's "Mansfield Park", Fanny Price, is often overlooked in comparison to her more attractive or more interesting sisters such as the spirited and headstrong Elizabeth Bennet of "Pride and Prejudice." Still, Fanny Price is worth getting to know, and "Mansfield Park" is worth a read as perhaps Jane Austen's most subtle and complex novel.

One of a growing brood of children in a lower middle class family in Portsmouth, Fanny is placed for raising with her much wealthier Aunt and Uncle Bertram at Mansfield Park in the English countryside. The ten year-old Fanny is painfully shy, physically sickly, and less educated than her Bertram cousins, who mostly ignore or make fun of her. Her Aunt Norris, responsible for the day-to-day raising of her cousins, thrives on tormenting Fanny. Only her cousin Edmund takes an interest in her.

Fanny's Uncle, Sir Thomas Bertram, leaves to tend to his estates in Antigua, just as the wealthy and charming siblings Mary and Henry Crawford arrive from London. Mary and Henry will tempt the Mansfield youth into inappropriate behavior, which only Fanny resists. Sir Thomas will restore order when he returns, but at what cost to the household? Fanny herself will be pressured into marriage, facing exile from Mansfield if she refuses. What choices can Fanny make, and how will she find her way to the one man she cares about?

In Mansfield Park, the reader will find an Austen heroine whose attraction is based on her perseverence in the face of very attractive temptations and seemingly reasonable pressures. It is Austen's genius to insert complex characters into the subtle relationships between four families in the story. The story provides a fascinating venue for social commentary and compelling domestic drama. The witty and enthusiastic but morally flawed Crawfords, for example, seem more attractive than the shy, vulnerable, and withdrawn Fanny or the understated Edmund. "Mansfield Park" is recommended to Jane Austen's fans.

June Austin is one of the great novelists of English literature. she is a master of irony. Her novels generally deal with the necessity of a woman finding a good husband with social status and money.

Great series. If you love her movies, the stories are even better. I read most when I was younger, but was delighted to reaquaint myself. Print is small so be prepared for that. I didnt' have a problem reading it and I am 71 with glasses. Enjoy, Sandi Shields

It arrived on time and as expected. The novel itself is a piece of wonderful literature. I love Jane Austen, and having read all of her other work, I actually feel that besides PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, this is my favorite. It's a play on the ever popular Gothic novels of the time period, so it was interesting to see Austen's take on it.

I have read most of Jane Austen's works but Persuasion is my favorite book by the author. I find the story fascinating in part because it accurately portrays real human flaws and strengths.

An excellent novel.

It's a very interesting story, but not in any way comparable with any of aust en,s others. The ending was most disappointing. It seemed as if she herself was bored with it and so ended it abruptly without regard for its incompleteness
