Lori Foster’s contemporary “Worth the Wait” has humor, suspense, and those steamy, sexy scenes we’ve become accustomed to.
“Worth the Wait” can be considered a companion book to last summer’s “Don’t Tempt Me” since it gives us Jason Guthrie’s brother, Hogan’s road to romance. Even Hogan’s son, Colt, meets a girl. We also get to watch the sheriff Nathan fall in love. Most books have one romance, but this one essentially has three!

The central romance is, of course, is between Hogan and diner owner Violet Shaw. Out of his job at the accounting firm, Hogan turns his part-time job as barbecue master at the diner into a full-time one and as a way to get closer to Violet.
Violet is stubborn and independent and doesn’t want to lose control over her business. She’s fiercely attracted to Hogan and their chemistry is off the charts, but Hogan is still not over his past and losing everything, including his wife.

“Worth the Wait” is more than a title. The words prove true for Violet and for this reader who’s been waiting for Hogan to find his HEA since last year. Kudos to Ms. Foster for writing another sexy read.

Violet owns a little diner in town. She's beautiful, smart, and bossy. Hogan is an accountant with a boy who's a senior in high school and works at the diner making ribs. He was hurt by his ex wife and when he first moved to town was a complete manwhore. But he's settling down but doesn't want to ever get married again. When he gets fired, Violet convinces him to work for her full time. With his son Colt starting college soon, he'll need all the extra money he can get.
Nathan is sheriff and was former SWAT team. Brooklin moved in next door but she's hiding something. He chases her until he finally wears her down. When Brooklin and Violet are run down by someone in a van, all their protective instincts come to the front. Now Nathan must figure out how to get Brooklin to trust him with her secrets.

Excellent story. Suspense thrown in. And mixed with some sexy guys and beautiful women. I love reading a story where I can get lost in it and feel like I'm right there with them.

This was a good read, but still not the best of Lori Foster. I listened to the audiobook and it was still way too long to really enjoy.

I really loved Hogan in this one. He wasn't my favorite in the last book, but as we grew to know him, I admired his dedication to being a single father and being there for his son no matter what. And Colt...that boy won my heart over in the last book, but he really became much more of a man in this book. He has the biggest heart and willingness to serve and protect those he loves.

Then there's Nathan and Brooklin who are featured in a side romance. It's hard not to love Sheriff Nathan Hawley, who also happens to be in a band. His persistence at getting Brooklin to like him was really quite adorable. And I really loved Brooklin as well. Her big secret and the aftermath was sad, but glad it all worked out in the end, even though someone got hurt.

So that leaves Violet. She wasn't my favorite character. She was all about that diner and being in full control over everything, so she didn't see right away the good thing she had in Hogan and his willingness to help, especially after she manages to get him fired. She was just too 'all about me' for me to really like her.

I loved getting to see the other couples from Book 1 make appearances. I love their little town and street. If only I lived on a street like that...

This book has 2 romances combined into one wonderful read. The stories of Hogan/Violet and Nathan/Brooklin
Widower Hogan and feisty Violet have a simmering attraction that blossoms into love as they chart their course though his heartbreak and her independent streak. He admires her work ethic, street smarts and her ability to run a successful diner. The book really sparked when they were making plans for the diner and as they came together both in the bedroom and the outside world.

I really, really liked Nathan and Brooklin's story and I wish there was more of their romance in the book. Sheriff Nathan and nurse Brooklin sizzle and I felt their chemistry. She has a past that rears its ugly head but in the end, of course, love triumphs all.

I recommend this book, it isn't short, it isnt long, it is just right!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The thoughts here are my own.

Whenever you read an author's stories and get pulled into that series world you don't want it to end. Such is the way it is reading Lori Foster's books. You CAN'T believe that you'll love her next series as much as you did the last one, I mean they feel like your family or friends. You can't wait to hear more about them. Then she starts a new series like The Guthrie Brothers. I LOVED the first book Don't Tempt me with strong willed Honor and Jason, and getting to know the characters for future books. I loved how you got two love stories in one in that book, and again in this one. When reading the first book you found yourself getting to know Hogan, Violet, and Nathan and couldn't wait to read their happily ever afters! If you haven't read the first one, do yourself a favor and grab it up. As always, I can't wait for Lori's next amazing story. There's humor, suspense, and of course an amazing love story. Plus, you know other characters you're introduced to will find their way into another amazing "Lori Story". What more could you want in a romance? I was privileged enough to get an advanced copy through NetGalley.

Hogan is the master at the grill with an obvious attraction for his boss Violet Shaw. When Violet got sick Hogan was there to help her out and work on making her restaurant better then ever and with the more time spent with each other things start to heat up. Meanwhile Nathan is a ex swat team member now working as a sheriff and he seems to have his eye on his new neighbor Brooklin. Brooklin got a past and doesn't want to drag Nathan into it but he seems to be the stubborn type popping up around the place. Things get even more complicated when it seems like someone keeps trying to enter her house and Nathan is now on a mission to find out who that intruder is.

This book was pretty complex maybe a bit too complex for me. There is the one main story between Hogan and Violet, then there is the side story of Nathan and Brooklin, but then theres that POV Hogans son Colt and what he's going through. As great as each story was I would've preferred Hogan and Violets story separate and have Colts as the short side story since things were somewhat sweet and uncomplicated. Nathan and Brooklins story would've been better appreciated as a stand alone besides this story. I had a hard time keeping up with the stories and mixed them up plenty of times. So if I had to rate this book it would've been a five star book but with too much going on and spending a lot of time in confusing brought it down to a 4 star book for me. This book was pretty great though, I loved each and every character that was introduced and getting to know their life stories and it was pretty great. The story lines were interesting. I loved that there was that bit of mystery and suspense. I wasn't expecting that part. Overall it was a pretty great book I really enjoyed it.

Worth The Wait by Lori Foster
Series: Guthrie Brothers book 2

2.5 Stars - I was really looking forward to this book. I totally enjoyed the first and I loved the potential the other characters had for their own stories.

What worked for me:

- 2 for 1 romance - Loved the side romance between Nathan and Brooklin. I actually liked it more than the leads.
-In the beginning both couples have witty banter and good chemistry.
-Loved Colt and his parts in this book
-Happy to see that some of the chemistry was back near the end of the book.

What didn't work for me:

-As soon as the lead couple had sex, the tension and chemistry seemed to get lost and they focused too much on worrying that perhaps their relationship was only just sex.
-Both men seemed a bit too overprotective, to the point that it makes the heroine seem like he thinks her an invalid.
-From about just over halfway till pretty much the last chapter, it was mostly sex scenes, or what seemed to be scenes put in place just to lead up to sex. Just lost interest and skimmed them.

I see there are a bunch of rave reviews for this book, so perhaps I am alone in my thoughts. For me, it was missing the tenderness and fluttery “romance" feels that I look for. That said, I am glad I finished the book, and honestly, if Colt gets his own story, I would like to read it.

One of the Guthrie Brothers series, it would have been worthy of a read had it featured only widower Hogan Guthrie, professional accountant and grillmaster and the boss of the restaurant where he works his grilling magic, Violent Shaw. But instead of this intriguing couple, we also have Sheriff Nathan Hawley, former SWAT team member and overall badass and his new neighbor, Brooklin Sweet, who's running from someone or something that keeps her looking over her shoulder.

Both of these couples are worth starring in their own book, but having them in the same one is a major bonus. Each of their backstories inform how they approach life now, including people of the opposite sex, and how they move forward in spite of their previous troubles kept me glued to the pages from first to last. Even the secondary characters were interesting.

A great summer read that provides happily-ever-afters for both couples and left me panting for a sequel. Fingers crossed!

The title says it all.... Hogan and Violet were definitely Worth The Wait!!

We met Hogan and his son Colt in Don't Tempt Me, the first book in the series and I was excited to get a chance to read more about them. This book did not disappoint!

Hogan is a great dad, who has gone through a rough time due to his late wife. He doesn't trust women, but Violet... she gets to him like no other and it's not long before she's knocking down his walls. She has a few issues of her own, but she is an absolutely fire cracker that I would love to have a friend like in real life.

There is a secondary story going on with Nathan, the town sheriff and Brooklyn, a new secretive arrival to town. I don't know how Lori manages to join 2 stories so seamlessly together, but she does and does it very, very well!

I absolutely loved this book. I have been waiting for Hogan's story for a while and it definitely did not disappoint me at all. Hogan and Violet are the perfect couple and I loved how their personalities clash but also make them stronger as a team. Also, I really liked how Honor and Jason played a big role in this book and that she told Brooklin and Nathan's story. Brooklin is such a strong woman that has been through a rough patch but still learns to trust Nathan. I also liked the little bit of suspense and was surprised at who was causing the trouble. I do wish that they had their own book and only because I would have loved to learn more about their background and them in general. Lori Foster does such a good job showing the family dynamic between Hogan and Colt and how Hogan is such a caring dad and they both love Violet. I hope Colt will eventually get his own story. I definitely recommend this book. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!

Lori Foster delivers three romances in Worth The Wait making it an extremely entertaining book. While there was definitely more time spent on one couple, the love matches were quite entertaining. Most of all I love the sense of community in this series; the friendships, the nosey neighbors, and they way they help each other through lives trials and tribulations.

Hogan Guthrie’s life was turned upside down when he found out his wife was cheating, she cleaned out his bank accounts including their son’s college fund, and then died in a car accident forcing him and his teenage son to move to Ohio and live with his brother. With a job at a small accounting firm and working part time at Screwy Louie’s on the weekend cooking up his famous ribs, Hogan is working on getting his life back together. He’ll be the first to admit he isn’t proud of his actions over the last few months, but he can’t change the past and all he plans to do is go forward and pursue the woman that intrigues him, but Violet his “boss” at Screwy Louie’s wants nothing to do with him and his player reputation. Violet was such a strong female character and I loved that she was self reliant and self sufficient, and it took an illness to make her slow down and an even stronger man to help her through it all. I loved the chemistry between Hogan and Violet, but what I loved more is the respect he had for her and the fact that Violet began to see Hogan’s true self; smart, funny, and a dedicated father. I also enjoyed the bond Violet began forming with Hogan’s 18 year old son, Colt; they both had great admiration and respect for one another. Hogan’s inability to commit and Violet’s refusal to settle for anything less proves to be a bit of a roadblock, but between the town’s gossip column and watching their friends fall in love it’s hard to ignore what’s going on between them.

Ex-SWAT team member and now Sherriff Nathan Hawley takes his job, so when he sees he has a new next door neighbor he plans to get to know her, but Brooklin Sweet has secrets and she doesn’t think she can trust anyone even if the man pursuing her is the town’s sheriff. I loved the way Brooklin made Nathan work to know her even though she was intrigued by him. Their relationship was sweet, but intense and a lovely bonus in this book.

There’s nothing quite like the rush of new love, so it was fun watching Colt realize that between jobs and school, the right girl was worth making time for and new girl in town, Charish, proves to be just what he wants. I really love we get to revisit the couple a few years down the road when the time is right for them.

Watching these three couples find love was fun and enjoyable, but what I really loved was the crazy camaraderie of the Screwy Louie’s crowd. Lori Foster offers up another exciting contemporary romance in Worth The Wait.

I got hooked on Lori Foster over 15 years ago with her Visitation series and quickly devoured everything of hers I could find. She writes such fun, sexy, flirty, epic contemporary romance. I’m always anxious for her next book. This second book in her Guthrie Brothers series did not disappoint. Like the first in the series, you get not one, but two wonderful romances. This one was definitely Worth the Wait!

Hogan Guthrie’s life had been turned upside down a year ago. His wife had cheated on him and he’d lost his job. It had been miserable. So Hogan and his teen son, Colt, had moved to Clearbrook to be near family. Hogan had spent the last year a little bitter and plenty wild. For the past month, he’d been an accountant by day and the Barbecue Master by night and on the weekends, working at Screwy Louie’s diner. He liked his work at the diner. He was territorial about his ribs and a little territorial about Violet Shaw, the owner of the diner. Violet was a sexy, blue-eyed, redhead with a southern drawl. Something about her sweet and sassy personality made Hogan’s mouth water. But Hogan wasn’t ready for anything serious after his cheating, lying ex. Plus, he had his son to consider. Still, that didn’t stop him from wanting Violet.
Hogan had tempted Violet from the first moment she met him. He was the sexiest man she’d ever known. She liked him, as a friend and an employee, and she was starting to rely on him. Though it was awfully tempting, adding intimacy to the situation would just screw up the dynamics. Violet tried to resist, but the more they worked together, the more sexual their banter became, and Violet was finding the attraction harder to fight.
Nathan Hawley’s life had been pretty orderly since coming to Clearbrook. An ex Swat team member, he was now Clearbrook’s sheriff, with the occasional performance with his band, Drunken Monkeys. But something about his beautiful new neighbor intrigued him. Everything about her turned him on, even her obstinate and secretive attitude. Brooklin Sweet had liked her new start being alone. That way there was no one to judge her, whisper about her, or threaten her. But her sexy neighbor’s pursuit was hard to ignore. The more remote she acted, the more he dug in. Nathan couldn’t deny how he felt about Brooklin, whatever her secrets or past. Brooklin liked Nathan too, but would he still want her when he found out the truth? Nathan’s persistence was wearing her down and he knew it. That’s what scared her. But before these four can work everything out, danger comes to Clearbrook, and by pure accident, they’re all drawn in.

Like book 1 in this series, the characters are compelling, believable, and likeable. I felt for their struggles. Hogan was a reformed runaround after events with his ex-wife had shredded his ego. His old life still plagued him. He couldn’t deny the chemistry between him and Violet, but he wasn’t sure what he wanted. He knew he wanted Violet but she was not a one night kind of girl. Violet turned him on, he admired her, and they had fun together. They both shared a strong work ethic and they both cared about how Hogan’s son Colt would be affected by any decisions they made. Violet was good for Hogan’s frame of mind and ego. Hogan was good for Violet, helping her to learn she didn’t have to carry every responsibility alone.
I enjoyed Nathan’s pursuit of Brooklin. Brooklin tried to resist his charms but he just wouldn’t quit. I liked that she cut to the core of things and didn’t cower. I admired that Nathan wouldn’t snoop but let Brooklin know he was there and ready to help. His belief in her was what Brooklin needed. And the fact she trusted him was what turned Nathan on. All four of these characters were strong on their own, but with the other by their side, they were even better.
I also enjoyed catching up with old friends from book 1 in this series. Lexie and Sullivan, Honor and Jason were there to lend support to their friends, making Clearbrook seem more like home for all of them. There’s an excellent mix of emotion and humor in this book as well. The relationship and conversations between Hogan and Colt had me tearing up several times. They were starting over together, and respected and considered each other’s feelings. The humorous tidbits from the local gossip column added some fun to the story as well. And I’m still dying to know what Hogan’s secret sauce is! If you’re hungry for a steamy summer read, this will more than satisfy your appetite. But you’ll probably be left with a strange craving for ribs. This review is also available on the Buried Under Romance book blog.

This was the second book of a duology. While I liked book 1 a little better, this one was still great fun, and I enjoyed both the main couples a lot! This series is a little bit of a departure for Lori Foster, as each book focuses on 2 main couples, instead of only 1. So, the focus is a little split, but the outcome is still everything you have come to expect from her books.

Hogan Guthrie has had a rough time over the last few years. He got his girlfriend pregnant in high school, so they married, and had their son, Colt, very young. Everything was great for quite a while. Then, Hogan found out that his wife was lying, cheating, and had drained most of their personal finances, including Colt's college fund. Then, after they argued, she walked out and got into a car accident, which killed her. He worked his way through his guilt and anger, in book 1, by leaving everything in the city behind, and moving to the small town where his younger brother, Jason, lived. He also became quite a hound dog with the ladies. Now that he's worked that all out of his system, and settled into his new house, next door to his brother, and Jason's wife, Honor, he's started to get into a normal routine. He is an accountant, with a 9-5 job, but on the weekends, he's become the grill master at the local diner. His ribs are in high demand, and the owner of the diner is looking to keep him there for good.

Violet Shaw is the owner of the successful local diner. She's a workaholic, but she loves that place and wants it to succeed. Since she works so much, often late into the evening, her dating life has been basically nonexistent. She knows a good thing when she sees one, and Hogan's ribs are amazing. She's managed to lock him down for weekends, but she wants more of his time. Actually, she just wants him period, but he's been resisting. She is determined to do what's best for her restaurant, and if she gets some personal benefits on the side, all the better.

Hogan and Violet's chemistry and banter was so fun, and sexy. I really loved their interactions, and the slow burn on their connection. Hogan's 17 year old son, Colt, was a delight as well (as he was in book 1), and I loved getting to know him more too. He has a bit of his own romance going on, and that was so sweet. Hogan's history has tainted his thinking about a lot of things, and he has to learn to overcome that to be with Violet. She had to work on her control issues, before she could truly be happy with a partner. I really liked watching it all play out.

The second main couple here are Nathan and Brooklin. Nathan is the local sheriff who just moved to town in book 1. He used to be a SWAT captain in a big city, but moved to a small town for a quieter life. He's really enjoyed settling in and getting to know the townsfolk, but his new sexy neighbor has really caught his eye. Brooklin is new to town, and keeps to herself. She's standoffish, and doesn't seem to want to get to know anyone. She's a jewelry designer, and she works from home. Nathan has been trying to get to know her, but she's not having it. He's very drawn to her, but he can tell she's scared, and hiding from something. Maybe she's even running from someone, and he's concerned. But he pursues her relentlessly, and since she ultimately wants to anyway, she gives in.

The suspense side plot was unique, and I enjoyed trying to figure it out. Both couples were involved to an extent, so you weren't quite sure who would be after them, or why. I liked seeing the side characters from the prior book again as well, and seeing how everyone was doing. The stories were fun and sweet, with some sexy along the way too. I really love Lori Foster's writing, and I always enjoy her stories. Seeing such stubborn characters find ways to come together is always fun, and entertaining. I really liked this book, and I was glad to see the outcomes for these characters, most of whom we got to know in book 1. As always, I look forward to what's next from this author.

3.75 stars-WORTH THE WAIT is the second installment in Lori Foster’s contemporary, adult GUTHRIE BROTHERS romance series. This is single father and accountant Hogan Guthrie, and diner owner Violet Shaw’s story line. There is a secondary romance developing between former SWAT team member and Sheriff Nathan Hawley, and jewelry designer Brooklin Sweet. WORTH THE WAIT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person perspectives WORTH THE WAIT follows two developing romances. Hogan Guthrie thought he had everything figured out but the death of his wife left Hogan a single father financially struggling to make good on a promise he made to his seventeen-year old son Colt. Working as the part-time barbecue master at Screwy Louie’s alongside the woman he can’t stop thinking about Hogan battles to separate business from pleasure. Enter diner owner Violet Shaw, his boss, and the woman with whom Hogan will fall in love. But all of Hogan’s attempts at seduction are pushed aside as Violet struggles with Hogan’s reputation as a one-night stand kinda guy. A bout of pneumonia, and a worrisome injury find Hogan playing nursemaid to a reluctant and ailing Violet. Slowly worming his way into Violet’s heart Hogan soon realizes that Violet may be the woman he claims for his happily ever after. But jealousy and temper will get the best of Violet Shaw threatening Hogan’s fragile hold on his new-found independence.

Meanwhile, Sheriff Nathan Hawley is desperate to get to know his gorgeous new neighbor but suspects Brooklin Sweet is keeping secret a dark and painful past. Nathan’s early morning runs with Brooklin, and flirty ‘hellos’ are rebuffed and ignored on more than one occasion but a late night scare finds Brooklin face to face with the man she had kept at a distance but a distance that is slowly closing as threats against Brooklin become personal and real.

WORTH THE WAIT follows numerous paths and several developing romances that intersect throughout the story. Brooklin’s past comes seeking revenge threatening many of the people she has come to love in the small town of Clearbrook Ohio. The premise is entertaining; the characters are playful; the romances are sexy and seductive. WORTH THE WAIT is a heartwarming, energetic and passionate story line by romance author Lori Foster.

First thought is amazing!! You would think fitting two romance novels in one book would be way to complicated, but not for a queen of romance writing like Lori Foster. She has it down to a science, I didn’t feel like I was missing out on either story line. Both story lines had their equal build up, evolution, and ending. I really adored that in both Worth the Wait and Don’t Tempt Me we got two stories in one. Okay I’m getting of track here let me actually talk about the book itself!
We got to meet Violet and Hogan in Don’t Tempt Me, but if you didn’t read it first no worries these can be read as standalone books. Violet owns her own restaurant, that has so amazing ribs… the ribs happen to be cooked by a certain guy. Can you see where this is going? Hogan is an AMAZING cook, he has a secret rib sauce that he won’t share with anyone except maybe his son, Colt. Violet herself is a fantastic character, she is strong, runs her own business, takes no crap from anyone. While she may flirt with Hogan and be really attracted to him she knows better than to mess around with that man, she’s heard the rumours she knows he’s a womanizer. To bad he is so good for business, and such an amazing dad. While in the first book when we met Hogan I was not fond of him, he definitly did a 180 in this book. He really is an amazing dad, I adore Colt in both books. Working 2 jobs just to put his boy through college, after what they had both been through is kind of amazing. I still won’t condone what he did at first but he does see the error in his ways and he is an overall good guy.
Nathan we meet in the previous book but Brooklin is oh so new and mysterious. Of course because she is a puzzle to solve Nathan was instantly attracted to her mystery but on top of that he was falling all over himself to get her to say two words to him. I really enjoyed how their romance had a completely different feel to it. Nathan had a war going on with himself. Whether to push as a cop or as a man who wanted to protect Brooklin as “his” woman. Brooklin while seeming more timid at first, was amazingly more resilient than most. While her backstory was not one that I was expecting, it was definitly enough to be like “Well that’s not fair”. Of course no one in the town believed any of the bad stuff about her because that’s how it is in small towns.
I can’t tell you how many times I have said this about Lori Foster’s writing, but I will say it again I LOVE how she writes strong female characters. It is kind of rare in romance writing that the female characters aren’t in “need” of a man to save them. I love seeing in her books that while the men help. These men don’t baby the women, they basically say yes I know you’ve got this but can I help? That is one main reason I love reading Lori Foster’s books. She creates families in families too! While not everyone in these two books are blood related they might as well be. Everyone has everyone else’s backs!!!
I have one specific question for Lori Foster… Can we please have even just a novella on Colt??? Yes please?? He’s a doll baby and I would to have a novella about him. Thanks!

Lori Foster, once again delivered so much in one story. As the story begins, there is already hints at romance and then secrets and mysteries are brought in. You want to cheer for the main couple in this story, but you have to wonder about his past that is alluded to early on in the story. There is so much going on that it is never boring, but not overwhelming either. It's serious but at the same time, cute and fun. Hogan is a man that is a great father and when some women run from single dads, Violet loves him and his son. Hogan is a family man and Violet really has no family, although she is family to so many. Then a second couple is brought in and once again you're cheering for them, but just like with Hogan and Violet, there are secrets in this relationship as well. It's a read until the end kind of book, I did not want to stop reading until it was finished. I received an ARC for an honest review.

Hogan Gutherie is a single dad trying to start over and find his way again after his wife cheated on him and then passed away. He is trying his best for his 17 year old son Colt but is he doing what is best for himself?

Hogan is an accountant who is now working for a small firm, however on the weekends he is the Grill Master as Violet's diner. When Hogan's female boss at the accounting firm fires him, he has no choice but now to go full time grilling at Violet's diner.

Violet is a very independent, strong, woman who is not used to having someone help her. She has had the hots for Hogan since she met him and once she convinces him to try being the grill master full time, the two come up with some amazing ideas for the diner. But Violet thinks that Hogan is trying to push his own agenda and Violet does not know how she feels about it all.

Violet and Hogan end up having a relationship, but they both said with no feelings getting involved, well that didn't last too long. Violet fell hard and fast for Hogan and for his amazing son Colt.

Nathan Hawley is a sheriff, former SWAT member who got hurt on the job and moved to a small town, where he found his happy place. He gets a new neighbor whom has caught his interest big time, Brooklin Sweet. But she wants nothing to do with him or anyone really.

Brooklin is hiding from her past and trying to move on. She feels like she found her new place but a pesky Sheriff won't leave her alone. Not that she is complaining at all.
Brooklin seems to have someone after her. She hears someone trying to break into her house, someone tried to run her over. Nathan makes sure she is well protected and moves her in with him. The two of them can't stop their attraction towards each other and are inseparable until one evening in the diner. Brooklin's past comes back to seek revenge. Violet is with her and becomes collateral damage.

This story was one of the best I have read in a long time. There was drama, a mystery, falling in love, three romances developing, and some great humor.

Worth the Wait is great, steamy, guilty-pleasure romance read. Thank you Booksparks for the advanced copy!

In Worth the Wait, there is a little bit of mystery and role reversals thrown in along with your tried and true romance plot. The characters are squeaky clean but the romance isn't! I highly recommend this book for romance lovers. If you loved Fifty Shades of Grey, you'll probably love this one as well.

Synopsis:
Single-father Hogan is on a mission to stay single...while sleeping his way through his new hometown. That is, until he meets Violet, the owner of the diner where he is in charge of making his popular ribs. Ex-SWAT team member Nathan is now sheriff and is happily single. Cue his new next-door-neighbor Brooklin who is playing very hard to get.

Worth the Wait is a romance, primarily telling the story of these two couples. It also briefly focuses on Colt, Nathan's seventeen year old son and his relationship with a classmate, Charity.

My review:
I will start by saying that I do not read a lot of romance. Unless the romance is wrapped up in a fantasy, I don't ever feel drawn to the category. I did read the Fifty Shades books (who didn't), but other than those, I can't remember the last romance that I read. That being said, I enjoyed reading this novel. It is not a work of gorgeous prose, but it is fun and makes for a quick, light, and sexy read.

Overall, I rate this 4/5 stars. This isn't a work of masterful prose, so don't go in expecting to be blown away by the literary dialog, but if you are in the mood for a steamy romance and a light read, then this is an excellent choice!

"You're good."
"At kissing? At conversation switches?"
"At making me nuts."
"I've learned from you. God knows you've done it to me enough times."
"Is that so?"
"I like having you around, Hogan. I really do."

I LOVED THIS STORY!!!

Oh my gee! After reading Don't Tempt Me, I couldn't wait for the next part of the story. Even though they are two separate stories, the intertwining of the characters is wonderful!
Learning more about the Guthrie brothers (& son) was so good!

Hogan and his son, Colt, have been through some of the worst situations anyone could go through. While trying to get themselves back on their feet, they are united with a spitfire named Violet.
She's exactly what they need to get their lives back and to show them what family is all about.

"You love me?"
"Yeah, I love you. I think I lost it for you the very first time I saw you. Everything after that was just buildup."

Also included in this story was Nathan and Brooklin. Nathan is the sheriff in town and his new neighbor is a mystery that he wants to unravel.
I loved their banter so much because she kept him on his toes, and he helped her no longer be scared of her past.

Between Hogan, Violet, Nathan, and Brooklin, you see four people come together for each other. You friendships blossom and love ignite.

Can I also say that I loooovvvvveeee Colt?! Can he have his own book?! Like, please?!

Another great read from Lori Foster!!!

"I'm sorry that the past was so hard on you, but I'm glad life eventually brought you to me.
Being here, now that I have you, I wouldn't change a single thing."

Hogan Guthrie is a busy man, working as an accountant by day, and burning the midnight oil as a BBQ grill master at a local restaurant. He does all he can to make a good life for him and his son, and spending his evenings working alongside Violet is hardly a hardship, well most days anyway. She is beyond beautiful, and can be stubborn as hell, but that doesn't seem to dampen his interest in her. After being burned badly by his ex he has his reservations about getting involved again, but no matter how many reservations he has, Violet just keeps finding a way to get around them! Question is can he trust her with his badly wounded heart?

The moment Nathan Hawley eyes land on his gorgeous new neighbor he knows he needs to meet her and learn everything there is to know about her... but she isn't so receptive to him. Every time he tries to talk to her she quickly brushes him off, and goes on about her business. But Nathan isn't the kind of man to back down from a challenge, so he decides this one is going to time take some time, good thing he has all the time in the world. He will find a way to lure her into his world one way or the other!

This was quite the read, not only do you get to witness Hogan and Violet find their happily ever after, but you also get to see Hogan's buddy discover his too... it's double the love! These two couples had me wrapped up in their worlds instantaneously and rooting them on the whole way through! Their story lines were blended together seamlessly, and were easy to follow, Ms. Foster did an outstanding job with this one!! It was a sweet, witty, and very sexy addition to the Guthrie Brother series! I highly recommend you visit this series, you are guaranteed some exceptionally crafted stories that come equipped with some endearing characters that are sure to steal your heart!!

I am going to start this review by stating how much I love Hogan and Colt. Hogan is fantastic, and made me like the whole single-dad trend, which was never one of my interests before. And Colt.. Colt was absolutely perfect, and well written. Sometimes it's hard to write a believable teenager/young adult, but Lori Foster is a wonderful writer, and proves she can do anything - even write the perfect teenager.

Now to what I wasn't a huge fan of - Violet. I tried to like her, but she just seemed so self-serving. There were times I didn't really believe she liked Hogan, it just felt like she wanted him for what he could do for her or the diner. There were elements of their story that were cute and sweet, but the majority of the time, Violet just felt like a jerk to me.

Like with the first book, there was a secondary romance happening alongside the main couple. I think Nathan and Brooklin's story was probably the better one. I loved these two together, and it was so good to see Nathan get a happy ending, which was something I was hoping for since the first book. And as good as that secondary romance plot was, the small third romance was even better - Colt gets his own chance at love! And maybe he deserves a happily ever after most of all.

I loved Don't Tempt Me so much, so that could be why this book felt like such a let down in comparison. I think this is the first Lori Foster book I've read that hasn't gotten a four or five star rating. She remains one of my favorite authors, but I have to say I was disappointed with this book.

Final rating: 3.5 stars.

I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Lori Foster! Worth the Wait is definitely worth the wait. Hogan Guthrie has been to hell and back. He is just getting his life back on track after his former wife's ultimate betrayal. Hogan is an accountant and the barbecue master at Violet Shaw's diner. Violet is a strong, independent and intelligent woman. Hogan and Violet are attracted to each other and have undeniable chemistry. Hogan vows never to let any woman have any kind of power over him, and Violet doesn't think Hogan can reform from his playboy ways. Can Hogan learn to trust in love again? Can Violet give up some of her independence and learn that she can depend on other people?
Nathan Hawley is a former SWAT member and now sheriff. Nathan is intrigued by his new sexy neighbor, Brooklin Sweet. He know Brooklin is hiding from something or someone. Brooklin just wants to be left alone and doesn't need her hot neighbor causing any distractions. Nathan knows he must be patient with Brooklin, or he will scare her away. Can Nathan break down Brooklin's walls? Will Brooklin trust Nathan with her past?
Worth the Wait is amazing! Love the telling of this story from different points of view. Enjoyed the interaction between all the characters and secondary characters from the first book. This book is sweet and full of heat. Worth the Wait is a great romance with lots of humor. Lori Foster makes me laugh out loud when reading her books. Great read and highly recommend!

Lori Foster's two book series ends with two new couples. Hogan Guthrie is Jason's brother from book one. He was just settling in to a new life with his son staying with his brother in book one. Now he's juggling a accounting job and BBQ master rib griller at a local diner. The diner is owned by Violet Shaw who is a women who can take care of herself and doesn't like to need help or accept it. The attraction is pretty instant for both of them. Hogan has some pretty big emotional barriers to get through to have anything with Violet that isn't superficial and she needs to learn how to let people help now and then. The other couple Nathan Hawley is the town sheriff and used to be on a SWAT team when a something went terribly wrong and he was left injured and a coworker killed. He still senses trouble when he meets Brooklin Sweet. Brooklin is hiding. From what is the million dollar question. You're kept guessing for a good part of the book until Nathan can win her over. I like how the author combined two couples into one cohesive book. They each had their own stories but were intermingled in a way that didn't take away from either couple. Colt steals the show for me. Colt is Hogan's 17 year old son and who would not want a son like him? He's thoughtful and smart and pays attention and is planning for his own future. Great story telling you are made to feel like you are a part of the story and i loved the wrap up at the end. Solid read!

4 1/2 STARS!

Sizzling chemistry and feisty attitudes! I adored Hogan & Violet! And Colt ... that boy is the best kid ever! A really great story line surrounding the three of them and what life has thrown their way in the past. I loved seeing them heal and prosper! Nathan & Brooklin were kind of a side filler for me. Their story was interesting enough and I liked them, but Hogan and Violet stole the show.

An emotionally scarred man and his teenage son never expected to find salvation by working at a diner, but when that diner is owned by Violet and she showers her attitude on them, it was like being wrapped in a blanket of snarky love! Violet and Hogan flirt circles around each other, but he makes it clear he's not into forever ... never again. Violet can fight it all she wants, but no one who spends a minute in their company can deny that they are magical together. Can the heart of a good woman be the elixir that a broken man needs to heal his heart?

A sexy sheriff and a secretive new neighbor ... like oil and water in small town living. Nathan Hawley is drawn to Brooklin Sweet from the first time he sees her, but she has true skills at ignoring even the smallest gesture of getting to know her. He pesters her until he eventually wears her down, but will the secrets from her past be too much for them to overcome when danger starts circling?

"Worth the Wait" was definitely worth the wait to read. Lori Foster, once again, turns a book into pure gold. This is book two of a series which continues the story of the Guthrie Brothers and their friends.

Hogan Guthrie, brother to the hero of the "Don't Tempt Me" Jason, has gone through a very difficult time - living through infidelity and death - enough pain and trauma to bring down anyone let alone a man who prides himself on being strong, faithful and good father. He has reeled from one extreme to another in attempting to get over his pain but never once has he forgotten his son or family.

Violet Shaw is a strong, sassy woman who runs the local restaurant and bar. She's intelligent, independent and fierce in her convictions. She is drawn to Hogan but fights the attraction.

When these two get together, combustible is too tame of a word. There is drama, of course, passion, caring, understanding, serious butting of heads and heat. The romance and interweaving of their lives is so natural that readers can easily buy into the whole development of their relationship.

The secondary story of the sheriff and his love interest is fantastic! It is not done as an afterthought but flows so well into the main plot.

HIGHLY recommended. Congratulations to Lori Foster on another pure gold book!

Overall, I thought this was a good book. The way that the author intertwined the two couples stories into one book was nice. Although, I felt that Hogan and Violet's story was more of the focal point.

The first couple of interactions between Nathan and Brooklin did not even capture my attention as much. Unlike where Hogan and Violet were involved. I connected with them as a couple quickly. Plus, when it came to the ladies, Violet was more outspoken. Yet, not that Brooklin couldn't have been more outspoken if she wanted to. Yet, it was not in the cards for her due to her situation. This is where Nathan came in. He was a good protector of Brooklin. Still, I had a good time reading each of the couples stories. Love does conquer all.

I haven't read a Lori Foster book yet that I haven't LOVED and Worth the Wait is no different. Hogan, a master bbq chef, and Violet, owns the restaurant Hogan is chef at, heat up more than the kitchen. This story unfolds as you watch them fall in love without even realizing it - Colt, Hogan's teenage son, realizes what's happening before Hogan and Violet!!! While Hogan and Violet are spicing things up everywhere Nathan, town sheriff and Brooklin are playing their own game of cops and robbers. While most romance stories only give you one couple to focus on Lori Foster gives you 2 1/2. Let's not forget Colt's first teenage crush / love interest with Charish!!!!

The main story is about Hogan and Violet. Hogan is a widower that doesn’t trust women and Violet is a take charge woman that doesn’t need a man to run her successful diner. Hogan is a great guy that is trying to make the best life possible for his 17 year old son. Hogan had Colt when he was 17 and loved his wife, Colt’s mom, but now he doesn’t trust women and just wants to have a good time, no strings attached, except he cannot help his attraction to Violet. He tries to keep the distance between them and Violet tries to honor his request but life doesn’t work that way.

The secondary story is about the sheriff, Nathan and his new neighbor Brooklin. Brooklin doesn’t want to make any friends, she just wants to keep her head down and live a quiet life. Nathan is instantly attracted to Brooklin and her unique eyes but his cop instincts are telling that there is more to Brooklin’s story then what she is leading on.

The stores are well intertwined and it this store was great to read. It was fun reading the struggles of all four characters and the variety of personalities you are sure to find one that you relate to – I related well with Violet.

I really enjoyed this book. There's romance, humor and sexy times. Hogan and Violet are perfect for each other. Violet is a spunky, sassy independent woman who complements Hogan. The banter and chemistry between them was fantastic. I loved the relationship between Hogan and his son, Colt. Even get a little bit of story from Colt's perspective which was great.

There is a second romantic storyline of Nathan and Brooklin. They are sweet together and she added to the intrigue to the story.
Add Jason (Hogan's brother) and Honor, Sullivan and Lexie (from the previous book) into the mix and you have a yourself the makings of a fun, fantastic story.

The second entry in the Guthrie Brothers Series is another example of why I love Lori Foster's books. She once again delivers - hunky guys, independent women, cute animals, and a strong sense of community. The novel follows two couples, Hogan/Violet and Nathan/Brooklin, without cutting either relationship short. Each relationship ties into the other, so both develop at a steady pace.

There is an element of suspense but don't expect this book to be similar to the Body Armor series or the Edge of Honor series. The Guthrie series is closer kin to the Buckhorn series - a heartwarming visit to a small community I would love to live in.

I am just kicking myself that I haven't read the first book in this set. But that is so very surely going to change.
I loved everything about this book. All the awesome characters, the magnificent writing and wonderful storyline.
This book really has two stories going on. In parts they are separate, but they do intertwine quite often, especially towards the end.
I am really starting to enjoy small town romance novels, and this one by Lori Foster is now firmly one of my favourites.
There is plenty going on in this book, lots of emotions, twists and turns and intrigue.
I cannot recommend this book enough.

Lori Foster delivers, which is why I was eager to read this second book in the series. The story continues from book 1, so I wouldn't recommend Worth The Wait as a stand alone. I do, however, recommend that you start the series as soon as possible, you won't be disappointed. It's a flirty, sassy, sexy read, with layered characters and storylines. There are several romances woven throughout the books, and the secondary characters are as rich as the primary couple. This one features a single dad, and really appreciated the portrait Ms. Foster drew of fatherhood/parenting. If you like your romances with a touch of humor, an abundance of sexual tension, and crisp, witty dialogue; give the series a read.

This is another great book by Lori Foster! Worth the Wait is the second book in the Guthrie Brothers series. Hogan Guthrie is a single dad who is trying to get back into the swing of life, he ends up taking his son and moving in with his brother. He is working as a BBQ master with Violet, the owner of the restaurant, and those two really have some hot chemistry! After being hurt by his late wife, Hogan is reluctant to move on, but can when he has with Violet be the real thing?

Nathan is the town sheriff and is falling hard for his new neighbor, Brooklin, a very quiet and shy new girl in town. Nathan tries to get closer and peruses her, but Brooklin seems to be hiding something. When her past come back to haunt her, Nathan does all he can to protect her, but can he get past her walls she has built and show her his is worth taking chance on.

This was a great book, it was fun to go back and get updates on past characters in the first book. Worth the Wait was a fun and quick read, I would recommend this to anyone who loves a great happy ending romance.

Absolutely worth investing the time reading this one! Hogan Guthrie is not only the "Barbecue Master" he is the total package. He is mouth-watering gorgeous and every single woman's dream and Violet has her eye on him and he has been pursuing her but can she let her guard down and let him catch her. He has a reputation but he has left that behind since working for Violet. Hogan has some trust issues because of his past but if he can get past them there is no doubt the chemistry between them will burn everything in its path.

Nathan Hawley is the sheriff and his new neighbor has caught his eye but she is so secretive he knows there is something she must be running from. Can he get her to open up?

The two stories are woven seamlessly together and with all the fun and secondary characters this is book you do not want to miss. There is a back story with a hint of suspense to keep everyone on their toes but the ending will leave you laughing and smiling for the rest of the day!

I definitely recommend this one!

This series...Lori Foster has done it again.
Is there anyone better at filling pages full of good old fashioned feels? In my opinion, NO. Lori Foster is the best.
This new series reads much like Lori's earlier Buckhorn series.
Family, doing what's right and protecting those you love, are what's most noticable in this book.
Oh don't be disappointed because there's plenty of hot, steamy chemistry between Hogan and Violet.
I love Violet! She's spunky and strong willed and I love how she stands toe to toe with hunky Hogan.
Hogan is so lovable. Always wanting to do what's best for his son and trying to make up for past mistakes. He's torn and broken in a beautiful way.
Worth The Wait also gives us a second story between Nathan and Brookline that will have you chewing your nails and guessing wrong. ( At least I did).
And Hogan's son Colt. Only have questions concerning that young man's future. Hopefully this amazing author will write his story and put me out of my misery.
Thank you for the chance to read and review this book Lori.

I loved this story, it was a great follow up to Don't Tempt Me.

I enjoyed Hogan Guthrie & Violet Shaw. Hogan is working as an accountant but also as the bbq master at Violet's diner. They work together, thinking of new ideas for the diner, even though Violet likes to be in charge. At times they butt heads, but it's fun to watch. Hogan also deals with the feelings he needed to confront after what his ex did to him.

We also see the town sheriff Nathan Hawley fall for his new neighbor Brooklin Sweet. She's beautiful but quiet, cautious & preferring to be alone. Nathan definitely had his work cut out for him to get to know Brooklin. She develops a great friendship with Violet & gets along with the others in the neighborhood.

We also get to see more of Hogan's son Colt, he's a great son & teenager. Very responsible. He's a great student & hard worker as he mows lawns, works at Violet's diner & works some with his uncle Jason. He also finds a great girl as well.

It was also fun to see Jason & Honor, Sullivan & Lexie too.

As the title reads, this most definitely was "Worth the Wait" I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the story unfold as much as Violet and Hogan seemed to enjoy teasing and tempting each other as they found their way from casual caring and mutual enjoyment of each other to a deeper, meaningful, all-encompassing passion and love. Lori Foster does such a good job of bringing her characters to life that I felt as if I was part of the community of friends and family that surround and support each other. The secondary characters and story lines support the main story while also making me cheer on those characters as well. This story was one I will long remember and I am glad I got the chance to read it.

This is the second book in the Guthrie Brothers series. Hogan Guthrie has moved to a small town with Colt, his 17-year-old son, after the death of his wife. While Hogan’s day job is as an accountant, he spends his weekends grilling ribs at Violet Shaw’s diner and lusting after Violet. It was fun to watch the two of them fighting their mutual attraction and going head to head. Both are strong willed and independent.

The second love story in this book is Sheriff Nathan Hawley and Brooklin Sweet. Nathan is fascinated by his beautiful, enigmatic new neighbor. The more she ignores him, the harder he pursues her. He takes up jogging when he notices she runs every morning, trying to get to know her but Nathan has to work to find out the tiniest details about her. I got a kick out of Brooklin opening up at the diner and telling so much about herself when she would barely tell Nathan her name and seeing how shocked he was to see her opening up.

As the title indicates, this book was worth the wait.
In this book we get to revisit old friends Sullivan and his love Lexi, Jason and his love Honor.
We get to watch as Hogan and Violet grow closer , sexy Sheriff Nathan meets Brooklin, a new mysterious woman to town. We are taken on a ride full of sexy fun, intrigue, danger and hear all about the BBQ ribs that Hogan cooks ...shirtless maybe? Maybe not. A lot of excitement goes on in this small town, shoot...in the diner owned by Violet called Screwy Louie's . How great is THAT name or the band named Drunken Monkeys that Nathan plays in?
So much going on. This was a great read. I have not told everything...what fun would it be if I didn't leave a few things for you to discover when you read this book?
So do yourself a favor and go buy this book when it's available. You will NOT regret it. Oh! One more thing.....you see a...never mind....I'll leave that for you to find out as well.

Lori does it again! Hogan and Valerie's struggle to believe in finding that special person. Hogan got burned by his now deceased wife and Valerie's strong independent personality clash in the beginning, but once she starts to rely on him and see the new improved Hogan, she falls fast and hard. Hogan gets past his past, while working as the BBQ Master at Valerie's family restaurant. She resists his help, but finally accepts and falls head over heels in the process.
Then there's Brookline a and Nathan's story, she's afraid to get found and to trust, but Nathan is bound a and determined to get what he wants. . Great Read.

I've been waiting for this one since Don't Tempt Me. I loved this one as much as the first book. I really liked both Hogan and Violet together. They complement each other so perfectly. I also loved the way Violet is with Hogan's teenage son. Violet is exactly what that little family needs. There is trouble a foot though and it involves the secondary story that's going on with Nathan and Brooklin. That love story just added to this book. It wasn't confusing having two stories going on. I could follow along quite easily. I also enjoyed seeing the characters from Don't Tempt Me. I have to say my absolute favorite scene of the book is the end. I could picture it perfectly in my head and gave us a nice way to end this book. Another winner by Lori Foster!

I know this is Hogan and Violets book but really it was also Nathan and Brooklin's story equally. I loved that both couples were given a strong story. Hogan's reputation as a womanizer in book one made it important for his character to win me over in this book. I am happy to say that he did win me over. His scenes with Violet were so much fun. Their chemistry was perfect.

The secondary story of Nathan and Brookline really worked for me. The had great chemistry and I looked forward to all their scenes together. I loved seeing more of Colt, Charish, Sullivan, Jason, Honor and Lexie.

I am a long time Lori Foster reader and I am NEVER disappointed with her books. She is an autobuy for me.

This book is the second book about the Guthrie Brothers, Jason and Hogan. This book tells the story of Hogan Guthrie. He is the perfect man, handsome, sexy and intelligent. However, because of his past, he has major trust issues to work through before he is ready to commit. His love interest is the owner of a local diner in the small town. Violet Shaw is independent and sassy, and their story is so much fun to read.
There is also a secondary love story. The local sheriff, Nathan, is a macho former SWAT team member. He is friends and neighbors with Jason and Hogan. A new next door neighbor, Brooklin, has drawn his interest and this second story is about their relationship. I enjoyed this series very much. The characters are so relatable and the book draws your interest right from the beginning. I received my digital copy as an ARC for an honest review.

I love that we actually get two full romance stories in this book. Hogan and Violet have been half in love with each other since Violet moved to town, and Nathan and Brooklin meet here. Actually, I guess you could even say there are two and a half here because Hogan’s teenage son Colt also gets a serious girlfriend and we watch that unfold as well.

Hogan and Violet are attracted to each other but neither of them wants to act on it. Hogan because he’s still gun-shy after his wife’s betrayal and death, Violet because she doesn’t really have time for a relationship right now, and even if she did, someone with the reputation of a player, like Hogan, isn’t what she has in mind. However, since Hogan has been moonlighting at Violet’s restaurant, Screwy Louie’s, as the resident grill master, they’re not able to fight their attraction for long.

I think Hogan’s reputation was more due to being in a small town than in the actual number or women he had sex with. From what I was able to tell, there were a few, but not really that many. Small towns, though, amiright? And you know what? He’s allowed. He was married, and faithful, to a woman who cheated on him multiple times, then cleaned out all of their bank accounts, including their son’s college fund, and took off. She died in a car accident as she was taking off, so Hogan has some pretty conflicted feelings about all of it. If he wants to deal with it by engaging in some fully-consensual, no-strings sex, more power to him.

Violet is concerned about this, though. She has no time in her life for a man who’s going to hit it and quit it. But she doesn’t have time for a relationship. So she does want a guy she can just have sex with when she needs it. Clearly, she’s not quite sure what she wants. Well, she knows she wants Hogan. And part of her wants a relationship with him. The other part of her wants to focus on her restaurant, and growing her business, and knows she doesn’t have time for a relationship. I liked this part of Violet. We’re all conflicted. We all want two or more things that conflict with each other. We all want things we know we shouldn’t. It’s what makes us human. Inner turmoil.

I really liked these two as a couple. Hogan doesn’t love his reputation as a “hounddog”, and he’s not proud of it. But like all of us who have done things we’re not proud of (i.e. all of us), the only thing he can do is put it behind him and change his behavior. He’s committed to doing that, and he’s committed to making Violet see how good they can be together. He loves her, and he loves the business that she’s built, and he’s so proud of her for making it work. He wants to help her make it better, and to be a part of it. He doesn’t want to take it over or push her out. He’s genuinely supportive.

Violet, though, is used to doing things on her own. She’s never had anyone to help her, and it’s not until she has to give in to a bout of pneumonia and she’s forced to slow down that she begins to see she can accept help. It doesn’t make her weak; in fact, it makes her, and her business, stronger to let Hogan and Colt in, and let them help her and listen to some of their ideas for expanding and improving. She’s had it in her head that even listening to the suggestions they made meant she wasn’t in full control, and she couldn’t take that. Hogan and Colt finally wore her down, though.

Speaking of Colt, the relationship Violet built with him was charming. Like most good parents, Hogan had tried to keep the worst of his wife’s faults from Colt, but there was no hiding the fact that his entire college fund was gone. Colt had to completely re-plan his life to include not going to the Ivy League school he wanted to, and had been able to, and instead to go to a local college and work to help his dad pay for it. But he was completely on board with his dad’s relationship with Violet, even before Hogan himself was. And his relationship with Charish is cute to watch. He seems like he’s going to be a really great boyfriend, even as young as he is, if he can just actively make time for her. Between finishing high school (early) and working to earn money for college, he doesn’t have a lot of spare time.

Nathan Hawley, ex-SWAT, and current sheriff of Clearbrook, Ohio, is immediately intrigued by the new woman in town. Brooklin clearly wants nothing to do with him or anyone else in her new home, and he can’t turn down a mystery. He’s determined to break through her many, many barriers and get to know her.

I liked the relationship between Nathan and Brooklin, but her story didn’t fully work for me. Lori Foster used her backstory to try and introduce a suspense element to the book, and I just didn’t think it quite worked. I didn’t think it needed to be there, and the resolution was a little silly. I give Lori Foster credit for not using the old “controlling ex-boyfriend shows up to reclaim his property” trope to introduce the suspense, but I didn’t think this one really worked, either. I would have liked this Nathan and Brooklin’s story without it; I just didn’t think it added anything.

The other element that I didn’t love was Hogan’s boss. He moonlights at Screwy Louie’s, but he has a day job as an accountant. His boss, Joni, is constantly hitting on him, practically stalking him. She shows up at Screwy Louie’s one night and has a completely irrational hissy fit, ending up firing Hogan. I have no idea if Lori Foster plans to use her at all later in this series (if the series continues), but here she was a caricature – no development or depth to her at all.

Bottom line, I thought the romances in this book were really charming. All of the characters were well-developed, although I would have liked to know a little more about Charish. But the relationships and the stories were well-written and believable. I didn’t need the pushy, stalkery boss, or the suspense plot, but I’d still recommend this book to anyone who enjoys small-town romances. This is the 2nd in the series, but I haven’t read the first and I had no problem following along, so you don’t need to read Don’t Tempt Me to read and enjoy this one.

It’s another swoon worthy hit for Lori Foster. In “Worth the Wait” Foster returns to focus on Hogan Gutherie, a single dad trying to make sense of his life while raising his son, Colt and Violet, a single women running a local diner and as independent as they come. When the sexual tension between them goes from sparks to a full on fire they both need to figure out what they want and how to get there without losing who they are in the process.

We also get to meet Brooklin, a very detached new girl in town who catches the eye of Nathan the minute she arrives. But Brooklin is hiding something and while Nathan tries to breakdown her walls her past finds her and puts all her new friends in danger.

As a bonus, all of the beloved characters from “Don’t Tempt Me” are back in all their glory. We see Jason and Honor, Lexie and Sullivan and of course Colt (who I hope is next up for a book). Actually we get to see a lot more of the guys they expected….who knew the “Barbeque Master” owned cowboy boots (you’ll understand when you read the book).

I don't know how Lori does it but she keeps turning out amazing stories time after time and this one is no different.
Hogan Guthrie is trying to keep his head down and just earn a living while at the same time trying to earn enough to put his son through college. But he cant seem to stay away from restaurant owner Violet Shaw who also happens to be his boss at his part time job where he is the "bbq Master". They keep butting heads until one day they give into everything and just take it one day at a time. Meanwhile Nathan Hawley, Hogan best friend, has fallen hard and he doesn't even know his neighbors name yet. He knows what he wants but getting what he wants puts his friends in danger.
I was laughing and crying and yelling at this book so much i was sad to see it end.

Loved It!! The book was a great way to kick off summer. Good friends and BBQ. Nice to see that Hogan decided to clean up his ways and be there for his son and eventually Violet. Violet is the strong independent woman who tries to handle everything with out asking for help, but sometimes we all need a little help. Hogan learns that if you want someone to let you in , you have to do the same in return and after all he has been through this is a big step for him. But he realizes in the end when you take that chance you get so much in return. I hope one day that Colt will have a story of his own. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

As I expected, Lori Foster's Worth the Wait lived up to its name....it was well worth the wait!

We get TWO romances in this book with Hogan and Violet as well as Nathan and Brooklin. The build up and progression for each couple was perfect, and I loved the dynamics between each pair. They had just the right amount of push and pull, give and take.

Furthermore, I truly enjoyed the multiple POVs. The different viewpoints flowed smoothly, giving us such a well-rounded story and a thorough understanding of the characters.

Worth the wait (book 2 in Guthrie Brothers series – release date July 25, 2017) tells Hogan’s (Jason’s brother) story and so much more. Lori Foster paints a picture of her characters so vivid, that I have a clear picture in my mind as to what they look like. There is so much depth given to not only the main story line but also the two side stories (Nathan/Brooklyn and Colt / Charish).
Hogan is a perfect balance of sexy male with a sense of responsibility to family, work and friend. He lives up to his tittle of Barbecue Master, in more ways than one. Violet, being the quintessential fiery red head with her sweet but sassy southern charm gives as good as she gets. Oh boy, when the two finally decide to mix business with a side dish of pleasure …. well let’s just say to watch for fireworks and other minor explosions.
These are characters to savor. Get caught up in their emotions, fears, insecurities, strengths and passion. Both the men and the women they are drawn to have an underlying strength that makes them fascinating.
The side stories have a richness and they balance out the main story to make everything seem just that more real. Hogan and Violet were not kept in a vacuum or bubble where it was just the two of them and nothing else interfered or touched that story. But rather the story drew other characters in to give mystery and spice to it all.

You know how you've been eating grilled fish and chicken with roasted veggies and salad for weeks and then one Saturday you're like, man, I really want some Mexican food and a big ole' margarita? This book is like that guilty pleasure and I enjoyed every minute of it. You have to appreciate it for the romance novel that it is and it's a well done one at that. Three romances are intertwined with several side stories to make this an interesting and somewhat suspenseful read. The women are strong, the men have character and the small town vibe gets me every time. I wasn't left hanging and the stories wrapped up to satisfaction. I realized that this is book 2 of a series so am definitely going back to find the first in the series. This is a new author for me and very glad I got the opportunity to discover her.

Ms. Foster returns us to small town Ohio to continue the story of the Gutheri brothers and their friends. This time the focus is on 2 couples Hogan and Violet and Nathan and Brooklin.
I normally don't like books that split attention between two couples, but these two stories are interconnected and woven together very well.
Hogan and Brooklin both come with baggage that makes the idea of a romantic relationship scary. It takes patience on the part of Violet and Nathan to bring them around.
Add in a little suspense and we have a well written and entertaining book with Foster's hallmark of devoted families, wonderfully alpha males, and strong heroines.

I’m not going to beat around the bush with this novel, in fact I’m going to be brutally honest. Let’s start with my love of this book because love first then hate.

Hogan, single accountant by day hot barbecue master by night, was definitely a well developed character of this novel. As was the little red head, Violet, who’s strong willed and high strung. Hogan and Violet’s love/hate relationship only left me wanting more. I really loved these two characters. These two just know how to push each other but only in a way that ends with being pushed into bed with each other. Yes, jaw dropping.

While there are other aspects of this book that I also really enjoyed, Nathan & Brooklin, I felt that this book had two different stories going on. I remember when I used to have to write stories in high school. My teacher left more red on the page, red that said “Pick one story and go with it”. This is exactly what I thought of while getting mixed in Nathan/Brooklin story. Also, in the mix of two stories, I just didn’t enjoy so many POV’s. Normally 2-3 POVS is all I like in a story so 5 just overwhelms me. Adding to the over uses of POV’s I felt Colt, Hogan’s son, didn’t need his own voice. Colt’s voice could have been in conversation with characters vs his own POV.

I feel WORTH THE WAIT is a book worth reading, regardless of my judgements. Each reader I have found, reviews a book differently which is what being a reviewer is all about.

Okay, this book was aptly named. It was worth the wait. This book tells the story of Hogan and Violet. Violet is a great character and she has some really hot chemistry with Hogan. They worked together to make changes to the restaurant Violet runs and Hogan works at part-time as a BBQ master. Their banter is fun and some of the ideas (will not spoil them for you) are alot of fun! Hogan is a single dad and an accountant. He is a great dad to his teenage son and there are issues with his accounting boss that must be worked out.

This book also tells the story of Nathan and Brooklyn. Don't think that their tale is just a side story. Ms. Foster did a wonderful job of fleshing out their story and romance. It is not merely a sub-plot. She truly gives us a story with two couples whose tales are well-defined. As always, Ms. Foster's dialogue is believable and well-written and her characters entertaining.

Lori Foster has produced another one of her enjoyable tales of finding love, while at the same time having to jump over some hurdles along the way. It was definitely a "summer read" for those lazy days. I liked also having the secondary characters have their own plot line which did later intersect with the main characters. The characters had enough depth for some good character development. I found myself rooting more for Nathan and Brooklin, probably because their relationship was a little more complex. In the end it was a satisfying read. I liked some of her other series better though but if you enjoy Lori Foster, then Worth the Wait will not disappoint. In Don’t Tempt Me we were introduced to Hogan Guthrie and Violet Shaw. In Lori Foster’s Worth the Wait, we get to see their story come to life as well as a secondary story with Sheriff Nathan who makes a connection with the new mysterious neighbor.

Hogan is a single dad trying to get his life back on track and Violet is an independent diner owner who knows what she wants. The awareness between Hogan and Violet simmers below the surface and keeps readers wanting more.

Without looking up, she asked, “What do you want, Hogan?”
“How’d you know it was me?”
She tipped her face and one vivid blue eye peeked up at him through that fall of incredible hair.”Honey,” she drawled, “I know the sound of your walk, the way that you knock, and I know your scent.”
His brows lifted. “My scent?”
Sitting back with a grumpy sigh, she asked again, “What’d you want?”
Ignoring her mean mood, he said “Besides you?” He heard her growl and his grin widened.

So loving this series! Violet and Hogan were such a great couple, between the sexual sparks and the witty interactions I could not get enough. Violet is such a fun and sassy character. Hopefully we will see a story dedicated to Hogan's son Colt in the future. Brooklin and Nathan's story was such a great bonus, loved the evolution of that pairing. Great read with laughs, sexiness and such a good flow. I can't wait to see what Lori has is store for us next! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I never read Book 1 of the Guthrie series so therefore I was a bit lost when I first started it. I had no idea why Hogan was working at the diner, which was never explained. I feel like the backstory is assuming that you read Book 1. I opted to read a few more Lori Foster books to get a better experience for her writing style. I read the first 4 books of the Buckhorn series and I have to say I really enjoyed those and look forward to reading more in that series.

About “Worth the Wait”, I loved Colt. He will make some woman very happy someday. He has a good head on his shoulders, is a hard-worker, and has goals and dreams, unlike most high school students.

I loved the Hogan and Violet couple. The two together connected very well. Violet’s repeated mishaps and misfortune lent a comic-air to the book. She did not want Hogan helping her but he worked his way into her heart.

I felt Brooklin and Nathan were a stretch at first. I felt Nathan was a bit stalker-ish. If I was Brooklin, I’d have moved in the middle of the night to get away from him especially with her being as skittish as she was, in the beginning of the book, due to her past.

The whole side bar with Hogan’s boss at the accounting firm was crazy! Is there really women that behave that way? I kept thinking HR needs to be called to a file a sexual harassment report.

In the end, the characters certainly are likeable and I want to continue reading more about them. I look forward to some of the other character’s story lines and a future Colt story.

Hogan is trying to overcome a difficult past and become a good role model for his son. He works part time at Violet's Diner and boy do these 2 have some chemistry. He doesn't want to commit but he does want Violet. Nathan and Brooklyn are neighbors and he's instantly taken and intrigued by her. She has some secrets she's run from and tried to start over. There's some mystery in this book and figuring it out brings both these couples together to figure out what's going on and why they are in danger. Another great Lori Foster story!! I read Worth the Wait book #2 before reading Don't Tempt Me book #1. I prefer to read series books in order so this was abnormal for me but, I just couldn't wait. I wish I read them #1-#2 - since somethings got spoiled for me.

Both couples are equally adorable - and luckily each gets equal page time. I wasn't sure the author could redeem Hogan, considering his promiscuous attitude. Of course, I was wrong about him...it was a total redemption. However, Brooklin was my favorite overall character.

I hope that Colt gets his own book, age him a little and give him his HEA.

Lori Foster never disappoints, this was a fun, entertaining read. I loved Hogan and Violet, along with all the other characters in this story. Every couple had thier own story all intertwining around Violet's Diner. This well written book had humour, drama, sexual tension and suspense. The characters were well written and all up an entertaining tale. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend this book.

I always eagerly await books by Lori Foster and Worth the Wait is no exception.
I was excited to return to the town of Clearbrook and find out how Hogan and Violet get their happily ever after. Add in the love story of Nathan and Brooklin, the burgeoning adulthood of Colt, a little suspense, and being able to catch up with the characters from Don't Tempt Me and Ms. Foster has written the perfect second book about the Guthrie brothers.
Congratulations on writing a fantastic book and keeping me riveted to my seat.

This book can be totally read as a standalone. Lori Foster not only gave us one but three stories in one. Although the main story was about Hogan and Violet all the stories intertwine giving us more story to love. There was a sexy single dad, a hunky sheriff and a sweet and mature young man. Enough hotness to go around.

Lori Foster always writes those stories that make you coming back for more. There was romance and suspense. There was mystery and love. There was sexual tension and lots of heat. There was a slow build up that was so worth the wait.

Hogan and Nathan are signature Lori Foster heroes - my favorite type! Violet is strong and independent with a heart of gold. Loved her! The banter between Hogan and Violet kept me turning pages. I would love to hang out at Screwy Louie's with this wonderful group of people. What a fun place to grab a meal. I especially loved the surprise at the end! I highly recommend Worth the Wait. Having read the first book in the series, it was fun to catch up with Jason, Honor, Sullivan and Lexie.

The title says it all – this book was TOTALLY Worth the Wait!! In the first Gutherie Brothers Series book (Don’t Tempt Me) we got introduced to Hogan Guthrie & Violet Shaw – both whom has a connection to Hogan’s brother, Jason (gotta read #1 to know how ;))! This is a great how opposites attract book - uptight Hogan meet carefree & sexy Violet. While Hogan & Violet’s story is going on you also get a secondary love story – Nathan Hawley (local Sheriff) & Brooklin Sweet (new neighbor)

Drama, romance, mystery…..this book has it all & will keep you reading until you have reached the last page.

There is nothing but praise for Lori Foster’s books! It definitely was “Worth the Wait”! Violet was what Hogan needed, a strong independent woman - someone who knew what she wanted. Violet bid her time with Hogan and he was the worth the wait. Hogan may have been a player at first but he turned out to be kind, thoughtful, caring and giving after all, especially when it came to Colt and Violet.

Even though Nathan’s and Brooklin’s storyline didn’t get too detailed, they were still a funny and cute couple. Handsome, strong and upfront, Nathan never gave up on Brooklin. He knew what he wanted and went for it. Brooklin never had a chance!

Would love to read Colt’s story!

The title of this book nails it! This book is definitely worth the wait and worth both your time and money. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire book from beginning to end. Worth the Wait is a great follow-up to the first book in this series, Don’t Tempt Me, and we not only get two great romances but we get to revisit the characters from the first book. This book has everything you need- humor, conflict, sexy guys, and strong women. I highly recommend both books in this series. You won’t be disappointed!

After eagerly awaiting the 2nd book in this new series, it was definitely 'worth the wait'. Thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. In true Lori Foster style, there was just enough sexy heat and character build-up.
After the first book with Jason and Honor as well as Sullivan and Lexie, this one built on Hogan and Violet, along with Nathan and newcomer Brooklin. Just enough about Colt to leave readers wanting more, to see how his story develops.

Hogan Guthrie has been burned once and isn't looking for a relationship. Violet is the carefree owner of the local diner where Logan works weekends as the BBQ master. They constantly snipe at each other until one night. Logan is torn between his past and Violet. Will they work it out? I enjoyed this book. It was, as always, well written. The main characters as well as the secondary characters were funny and believable. I recommend this book. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another great book from Lori Foster. This is another book from her that I did not want to set down once I had turned the first couple of pages. The story draws you right in. When I want to read a book that I know is going to be fantastic, I pick up one of Lori Foster's. The characters are so real I feel like I know them. Hogan is a single dad who falls hard for Violet and their relationship goes from flirty to red hot. Brooklin is trying to escape her past and doesn't want to get involved with anyone but Nathan, the town sheriff, is persistent. Love conquers all in the end and that's exactly how it should be! I had to wait until I got book 1 Don't Tempt Me before I could read this one and it was really worth it! I loved the characters and how they dealt with real issues. I loved seeing the main characters from book one as well as learning more about secondary characters from it as well. I totally enjoyed that each book had at least two romances in the storyline. There was some action in both, but the character development was the key to these stories' strengths. If you like complex characters, great character development, some action along with some steamy parts, then this series is for you. Enjoy!

I absolutely loved this book. Hogan is an accountant by day and a grill master on the weekends. Violet owns the diner and the sexual attraction between the two of them is off the charts. Hogan's wife had cheated on him, spent all of his money then died in a car crash leaving him with their 17 year old son. He lost everything and he and Colt ended up moving to the town where his brother lives. Hogan is rebuilding his life. Will Violet be a part of it? This book has it all. Mystery, danger, humor and steamy romance. Excellent read.

Worth the Wait is definitely one book that is all that and a bag of chips! I have loved reading Lori Foster’s books for years and she does not disappoint. With this release, she has penned a second chance love story with a wide range of characters that pull at one’s heartstrings and banter with the best of them. Hogan is a widower who tragically lost his wife and uncovered a web of lies that she left for him to deal with. His way of “dealing” was to sleep around with women while raising his teenage son, Colt. Violet is a spitfire diner owner constantly looking for ways to improve her business and employs Hogan as ‘The Barbeque Master’. The attraction between the two is palpable but Violet holds back because she is worried about Hogan’s wanton ways and is unsure if he has really turned over a new leaf. Can Violet let someone into her life after being independent for so long? Does Hogan want another relationship after what he went through with his first wife? Along with Hogan and Violet’s story, there is a secondary tale of Nathan and Brooklin. Nathan is the town’s sheriff and is highly attracted to his new neighbor, Brooklin. However she will not give him the time of day. Can Nathan work his charm to get Brooklin to trust him enough to tell him her secrets and have the relationship that he wants with her? This is one sassy, sexy read that you want to one click and add to your bookshelf! I can’t wait to see what is coming next and I hope it will be Colt’s story.

I loved this book and hated to put it down . Lori Foster has done it again with having characters in a book you would love to have in your own life . Violet is a restaurant owner who works hard to make her restaurant a success , who is known and loved by many customers . Hogan is a single Dad who was hurt by his deceased wife and not looking for a relationship . Hogan is an accountant working at Violet's restaurant grilling ribs on the weekends . They have serious sexual chemistry going on !
Nathan is the sherif of the town and a member of the local band . Brooklyn moves in and totally keeps to herself , not reaching out to anyone. Nathan tries to get around the armor Brooklyn has erected . Her past holds the key to why she lives as she does .
Being the second book in Lori's Guthrie Brothers series she brings characters from the first book back to loyal readers . Her books are wrote as stand alone books where you do not need to have read the previous books to follow along . But if you have you know more members of the book .
I would highly recommend this book if you are into romance novels . Sizzling sex scenes and a story written to hold your interest . Each character holds a special place in your heart.

Another hit by Lori Foster. I LOVED this book. I loved reading Hogan, Violet and Colt's story. To see them all growing in different ways. Hogan trying to put what his wife did to him in the past, Violet working hard and getting Hogan to work for her at Screwy Louie's. Colt being a teenager trying to get through school and meeting a girl that he befriends and than takes as his girlfriend. Hogan went through a wild spell and Violet was jealous the whole time but he and her just made sense..I love how he woke up to the realization that Violet was the one and how good she is with Colt. I also liked how Nathan and Brooklin's story was weaved in with Hogan and Violet. How they all became good friends and how they stood up for each other and stuck my each other with the person that is stalking Brooklin. If you read Don't Tempt Me you MUST read Worth The Wait..It sucked you in from the first page til the last. You laugh, giggle and even shed a few tears as you go along. This is another wonderful Lori Foster book that I would recommend to any reader..If you have never read her books you most definitely should!

This book really has two stories going on. In parts they are separate, but they do intertwine quite often, especially towards the end.

If you are looking for a smoking hot and sweet romance, look no further. Ms. Foster combines the perfect mix of sweetness, humor and erotic scenes.
The combinations of Violet and Hogan and Nathan and Brooklin are dynamite. This book is as amazing as her past body of work.
Violet strives to make her diner profitable, while Hogan struggles to raise his senior son in a new environment, close to his brother Jason.
Nathan, the sheriff, former SWAT, falls for Brooklin at first sight, even as he realizes she is hiding something. You will follow closely as the story progresses, eager for answers, but so sorry the story ends. Feel good ending with characters you'd love you meet.
