Mishaps, mistakes, misfortune and a baby born in a pod between times, how could you not like this book. Another good read by Jodi Taylor will keep you turning the pages and wondering what else could go wrong.

I love the way Jodi Taylor writes - she makes me laugh out loud! Descriptions are so well done you can see, hear and smell the scenes. (Sometimes a tad too descriptive.) I can't wait for the next book, and the next one, and the one after that! Not to be too pushy, but can you write with both hands?!

This series is sooooo good. Mindless entertainment. This series would make a great TV show and you learn about history. I usually read fictional literature but this is a great escape from that. Enjoy all!
The Nothing Girl (The Frogmorton Farm Series) :: A Time Travel Adventure (The Downstream Diaries Book 1) :: A Middle Falls Time Travel Story (Middle Falls Time Travel Series Book 1) :: The Chronicles of St. Mary's Book Five - No Time Like the Past :: The Chronicles of St. Mary's Book Two - A Symphony of Echoes

Being totally transparent here....I'm a history buff, to the extent that my AGHD will allow. Jodi's books as well as Diana Gs Outlander series are perfect for me. Jodi's History series is entertaining, informative, and thought provoking.

Kudos to Jodi Taylor and Zara Ramm for, respectively, doing a fantastic job writing and narrating this book (as usual). This one had my heart breaking and me biting my nails and sitting on the edge of my seat, sometimes all at the same time. Of course, it also had me laughing out loud. That's what makes the Chronicles of St. Mary's so fabulous-- you can be ready to cry one moment and then laugh the next. Absolutely brilliant (this book, the whole series and the audio narration). Fans will love this one. Anyone new to the series should start at the beginning; these are not standalone books. Everyone should read these! Keep them coming Ms. Taylor. Keep them coming.

As a super-duper St Mary's fan, I pre-ordered this book months ago, and read it the day it was released. It didn't disappoint. All the usual elements were there. My strong advice continues to be, start with the first book in the series and read them all, in order! To be fair, this book towards the end had scenes that may be been a bit rushed over, not fleshed out as much as they could have been, and some of the plot twists may have been a little too convenient, but these are trivial comments on an overall very engaging book.
The last sentence left me gobsmacked, I have to admit!

Funny, original characters you love for all their flaws. This series makes history fun and brings the time periods to life. I binge read all seven books in a couple of weeks. I read a couple of them twice. The author has a unique way of tying in the obscure moment in the book into a catalyst for future events. I am just amazed at how everything fits together perfectly ... but you won't figure it out in advance. I am delightfully surprised each installment and that does not happen very often. The dry humor is hilarious and lifts my spirit. In fact, the range of emotions you experience as you ride along with these characters is amazing. Just unique plot twists and well thought out character development. I wish that I could go work at St. Mary's but I would be satisfied to continge reading about them for a few more years.

I bought Jodi Taylor's original novels in this series back when they were deals at 99 cents, and have continued purchasing them at full price around release date since then.
The novels are fun romps through history, told from a first person perspective. As the series has gone on, what mainly changes in the novels are the historical situations the characters end up in, while the formula of the novel remains pretty much the same. Max gets herself in big trouble no matter what historical event the historians are sent to witness. The situations she gets herself into change from novel-to-novel but it's pretty much guaranteed that the answer to the question of 'what could possibly go wrong' is everything.

Such a wonderful series. I actually preorder these books because of that. Time travel, danger, odd predicaments. Very interesting characters. I was worried that this would be the last book, however received a newsletter that sounds like Book 8 will be coming. Yeah!!! Max can sure find trouble. Ronan needs to be found and dealt with. Great job Ms. Taylor.

Max and the crew at St. Mary's are back and mayhem ensues. Just suspend disbelief and ride along. This series is not going to change your life or the world. These are not literature or book group books. But, they are highly entertaining. Jodi Taylor is very talented at what she does. Her pacing is such that it is difficult to put these books down. She has done an excellent job in maintaining my interest throughout the book and the entire series.

It's not often these days that you get the perfect combination of a great idea, wonderful characters, and an author who can WRITE. Also, on Audible, the absolute perfect narrator. This series has it all, and it's witty and often hilarious as well. Begin at the beginning, go on till you get to the end....then do as I do and pester the author until she writes another!

Having fallen for the series and fallen hard...I guess I kind of expected more from this latest addition. It felt almost disjointed to me, like there were huge gaps, things we missed, things that were put together, but not the way we're used to with Jodi Taylor's amazing writing. With the previous books, the descriptions are so real, so detailed and vivid..you can feel the baking Egyptian sun sucking the moisture out of your skin and scalding your shoulders. You can feel the bone aching chill of a frozen lake seeping thru your shoes and making your legs numb while the screaming wind tears your breath from your lungs. The hair on your arms stood up and you turned on the light while Jack the Ripper stalked you thru the dank, dark, slick alleyways of Whitechapel. There are very few books that are total escapism like the St. Mary's series, which I think is why I was a little let down with this one. It almost felt like someone else was writing it. Max is pregnant, although how far along we never know from chapter to chapter. She's big and gets bigger..that's all we really know. No details of the pregnancy, is it a boy or a girl, did she even find out? Did she have morning sickness? Stretch marks? Anything? We know she's constipated, as usual and pees more towards the end. She seems to have a pretty cavalier attitude about the baby and its' well-being. Poor Leon barely makes more than the occasional appearance, popping up now and again to make sure we don't forget him, but that's really it. The characters we loved so much in the last book, Prentiss North & co. make a fleeting appearance. I'd like to say I loved this book like all of the others, but it just felt phoned in to me. I'd like to think that during the download (ebook) that pages got missed, but I'm pretty sure that didn't happen, although it would explain a lot.

I completely adore this series. I have read several of them in a day, even though it would make more sense to spread the delight out over several days. I downloaded a sample of the first; I love time travel books but they aren't always as good as I hope. This series was better than I hoped. It's a shame they are all on Kindle - I am a big supporter of libraries - but they aren't very expensive and you can get the seven novel, series for $34 in the Kindle. Unlike another reviewer, I am also a fan of the short stories, most of which seem to be novella length. If you like time travel, beautifully drawn characters and laughing, give these a try.

I am hooked on this series. It's amusing with a well thought out time travel motif that leads to various eras. There is cast of well fleshed out characters that continues throughout the series. I found this series to be a springboard to study various eras which I look up on Wiki to check for accuracy. Thanks for a fun read.

Another one that I absolutely loved (aside from mentally yelling at Max and co for making some stupid decisions). I love these characters and their relationships so much. The story is just as exciting and full of adventure as always. Looking forward to number eight!!

You know you've found a great book series when you are done with the last one and feel instantly bereft without another one. Like having to leave loved ones before you are ready. All I can hope is that the next few months before Jody Taylor releases book 8 will pass quickly. Really, really quickly.
