Well, that was interesting, and certainly unusual. Was it a waste to read? Not really, there were some interesting parts, but many occurrences in the book aren't really explained, at least in this novel, a First in a Series. But where and how could it end? You got me, I'm stumped as you are in figuring where this unusual life will lead.

Meanwhile, it'll go back into my Library, filed away on some back electronic shelf, where someday it will call out to be read once more. For reading these books actually keeps their stories alive. Maybe, perhaps; it is an unusual book you know....

Finished the entire book from 0-100% via Kindle Unlimited.

A pretty good time-traveling story with a few interesting twists to freshen up the well-worn plot. Characters were interesting to read, especially the family dynamics of Thomas Weaver; he has a pretty chill mom and bro. However, the aforementioned twists introduced elements that weren't really addressed in-depth. They left plot holes that are easy enough to ignore yet leave you with questions that remain unanswered even at the end of the book.

I would have given the story 4/5 stars, but one particularly nasty decision by Thomas Weaver near the 60% mark of the book significantly hurts the cohesiveness of Thomas' character. His reaction to the moves of the chief antagonist is not only illogical, even by the loose standards of fiction, but it also betrays the character that Shawn Inmon has built up to that point. All I can say without spoiling the story is that Thomas comes out to be a massive hypocrite, but I am not sure if Shawn wrote this with ironic intent about how easy it is to justify bullying if given the right motivation to do so. Reactions by the main cast pass off this senseless action as a harmless prank worthy of a few good chuckles, so I am inclined to believe that no irony was intended.

This is why I give The Unusual Second Life of Thomas Weaver 3/5 stars instead of the original 4/5 stars.

I read this book without having any idea what it was going to be about. Another author I enjoy reading had posted on his FB page a short mention about a fellow author he knew and said that he enjoyed the book, so I went ahead and bought it and read it because I assumed if that author liked it, I would too.
I did enjoy the story right from the start. To me, there wasn't a single spot in the entire book that made me lose interest. I felt like I knew Thomas right away and could understand what kind of person he was and what kind of life he lived. I loved all the little things that just took me back in time- memory wise- to some products and tv shows and things that I remember from long ago. The attention to detail in the story made it so easy to lose yourself in.
It was a very thought inducing book to me. When I was done reading it, I caught myself just reflecting over lots of little issues and wondering how someone could come up with the ideas and thoughts and put them all together into such a good book. I am trying to not give out any spoilers but I can't help but say that after reading it I wondered if all suicides really do end up getting a chance to try and live over again and fix anything. I was so sad at some points in the story and amazed and excited in other areas.
I cannot wait to read the upcoming books that may come out after this one. I am really connected to the characters and they are well developed and just come alive off the page as if you really do know them personally.
I am really impressed and would recommend you give this unusual story a little time and read it.

Well, this book would have been awesome, but there was a glaring mistake in the story line. With something the character desperately wanted to do, he had the perfect opportunity and did not. I wish that if authors reached a spot in which they'd have to adjust their story for the sake of it making sense, that they would take the time to do so. Instead what we have is something making no sense, I suspect so the author could just keep writing.

Aside from this, I very much enjoyed the book. It doesn't top The Thirteen Lives of Harry August, but is a good quick read if you like this genre.

Very likable characters, only a few typos. To Mr. Immon, at the beginning of one chapter, it says 'Zach' instead of Tommy'.

One reason I always seem to like Shawn Inmon's books is that we're around the same age and overly obsessed with music. So his books have references like the character in this book saying “Oh, and Pablo Cruise sucks. Ten years from now, no one will know who they are,” and I agree and laugh. More importantly, I get the reference. Many of you won't. If your high school years were sometime in the 70s and you haven't read all of Inmon's books, you should.

If high school was before or (even more so) after the 70s there are still plenty of universal and timeless themes in all of Inmon's books. The Unusual Second Life of Thomas Weaver possibly more so than any other. We've all made decisions in our life that we wonder about. Was that a good decision? What would have happened if I'd done this instead? If I'd have known this was going to happen, I wouldn't have done that.

The basis of this story is a different twist on time travel when the protagonist who has been haunted by a big mistake in high school finds himself transported back to before that mistake. He's not only back in time, but he looks like he did back then. The only difference is that he knows what's coming. Unless he can change that. It's a great premise. I found myself pulling for Thomas, wondering what he should do, and hoping he'd figure it out. That's at least part of what you'd hope for in a story like this. And really that's enough. However, if it sparks a little introspection, if you start wondering what you'd do differently if you were transported back in time, even better. (If you wake up tomorrow and find out that I've become a major shareholder in the store, that means my plan worked.)

A second chance to make it right; a second chance to screw it up again.

Tragedy is the name of the game for fifty-five-year-old Thomas. At least that's what he tells himself as he washes down the handful of little white sleeping pills stolen from his mother. Lying back on his bed, he waits for the reaper to take away the despair. Instead he is transported to a different kind of hell--puberty. Thomas wakes in his childhood bedroom, with his teenage body, and all his memories intact. With a new lease on life he has a chance to do it all right. He will save his brother, change the course of history, find love, and stop a horrific killer. That is, if he can overcome being a pathetic screw up.

The Unusual Second Life of Thomas Weaver by Shawn Inmon weaves together traditional science fiction themes with a healthy dose of philosophy. With this tale of time travel you'll find yourself asking, would I do it differently? If you enjoy Charles Dickens and The Mine by John Heldt then you'll enjoy this story that combines the best elements of their works with thought-provoking situations, unforeseen romance, and powerful twists that will leave you breathless. Pick up your copy and join Thomas on his second chance today

What did I like? First off, I love time travel stories so this was really an awesome read for me. I was really blown away with the storyline. I really liked how the author tied in the events from the future to the past. I have read lots of time travel books and short stories but never one quite like this one and I liked it a lot! Thomas had to have been the geekiest kid ever and to have to be brother to the coolest kid was really a great idea. The thing that I liked the most though was the connections between Thomas, his mother and his brother, Zack. Back in the seventies it was really hard to be a single mom and this story shows how it can be done and be successful at it.

What are you going to like? One of the most twisted, emotional, disturbing, crazy, enjoyable and some parts funny but overall great read. There are lots of emotions flying around in the story. I cried and laughed and even jumped for joy in some of the parts but it will keep you glued to the pages with a desire to get to the last page. The characters are very developed and creditable, to the point of love and hate. The storyline is fantastic, conceivable and very imaginative plus it is too bad that we all can’t have a second chance to make everything right the next time around. My kids grew up during this era and I can remember many of the events that made that time memorable. The author did a great job with the research and it really shows in the events and actions of the characters. I really enjoyed this book and I understand the author is doing another with one of the characters from this book. I will be looking forward to reading it also and hope that he will keep going; he certainly did a great job on this one.

“I received this for being an advanced reader for the author. Besides getting all the good books in advance of hitting the market and have the opportunity to share my remarks, I love being part of the team that works with authors as they share each new book that they pen”.

The age old question of "If I had it to do all over again, would I change things, or do it the same?", is the corner stone of this book. At the age of fifteen, Thomas' life is irrevocably changed when an accident takes the life of his older brother. Burdened by guilt, his life continues to go downhill until at the age of fifty four, he commits suicide. Imagine his surprise when he wakes up once again as a fifteen year old, prior to when everything went wrong. This time Thomas is committed to making something out of his life and making up for his past mistakes.

I really enjoyed this book. The beginning was tough as it was impossible not to feel empathetic to the young Thomas. The accident scene was extremely well written and brought out the feels. From there, you would have to be made of steel to not root for the reincarnated young man with middle age knowledge and memories. The author did a superb job on his characterization and making readers feel connected to not just the main character, but supporting cast as well. The storyline was nice as well with a couple twists and turns. Overall a very enjoyable read.

I don't like leaving reviews because I'm not a writer. I am a reader. I've read nearly two hundred books this year alone. I don't think I've written a single review. But I feel compelled to write one here.

I don't want to oversell it, but this series is one of the best I've ever read. If you're reading this review, you likely already know what the book is about, so I'm not going to go into details about the story. I will say that the series as a whole is one of those that has the potential to change a person's perspective on life. The real story is about forgiveness and redemption and healing and living life to its fullest. The characters feel real and have a depth to them that is rare in fiction. I highly recommend this entire series. In fact, I think it should be required reading.

Before my review I would like to preface that I had received a free copy of this book for my honest opinion; I had also read all six episodes, which I eagerly looked forward to before they were released. I feel like Thomas and I are new best friends since I know him intimately.

Now, for new readers.........The hero (Thomas) starts out as an adult who commits suicide, morphs back to his typical 15 year old self and goes through a emotional roller coaster ride of trying to right the wrongs he has lived through. All the time he knows he is in his past but needs to help those he cares about. His life does not go back to the future to his adult self but stays on course, progressing forwards from his new life of redemption (or so he believes). I loved the story even though it was a stretch of the imagination, but who wouldn't want to go back and do it all over again even better.

The book followed the episodes until the end which was new and a shocker; it set up a sequel. Nice going Shawn! I have been vague about particulars because you should really read this. It is not heavy, mildly dark, teenage stereotype thinking and would be fine for teenage readers. Don't worry mom and dad this will not cause your kids to behave badly. Over all a good read and can be read a chapter at a time but I bet you won't.

"I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review"

There several books and movies out there in which a person has a chance to see what their life would have been like if they had made different decisions. This is a similar idea with a fresh twist. Has always Shawn Inmon's characters are captivating. We see not only the difference Tommy's decision makes in his life but we see the domino effect of how his life effects the lives of others. Unlike other stories in which the person learns a lesson of how is life is better is better the way it turned out initially, we see Tommy's life played out the way he wished it had been. We see a much happier Tommy in his new life than we did at the beginning of the book when he was filled with self loathing and depression. The story was intriguing. At the end of the book I found myself looking forward to seeing how other character's alternate lives would play out.

My concern is that in the series it appears that everyone who gets a do over, got their do over by committing suicide. I worry that this way out may appeal to young people with depression issues. I am hoping that it's idea will some how dispelled in subsequent books.

I'm glad I waited for the full book to come out instead of reading the installments. I enjoyed the book a lot and couldn't put it down, I read it in a day and was captivated. It did remind me of his other book Rock n Roll Heaven which I also enjoyed but his writing has evolved nicely over the past couple of years so I gave it a 5 (4.5). Going back to the 70s was interesting and he did a good job of tying in the time travel theme. The story line was strong and does leave room for a sequel. It did end up with a HEA in that he survived and got a do over on his life. That is enough spoilers. If you have read Shawn's other books you will like this one. If you haven't, this is a good one to start with.

I received an advance copy in exchange for my unbiased honest review. I also borrowed the book on Kindle Unlimited and appreciate that his books are available there.

When I first read what this book was about I wasn't sure I wanted to read it. It mentioned "time travel" and I'm not a big fan of that. However, this book isn't exactly what I would call time travel. This is someone at the end of their life waking up as a teenager in their old life. To me time travel is someone going back into another time or century. This book made me think that it may be nice to go back and undo some of the mistakes we made in our lives when we were younger. I know there are some things I would change if I could do it again.
This story made me think about the differences in the way teenagers think as opposed to the way we think about things as we age and mature. When Thomas found himself in his teenage body, he had to be careful about how he worded things when he hooked back up with his buddies from that time.
I was given a free copy of this book for leaving an honest review. I absolutely loved this book. If I am able to put myself in the shoes of the character, then I feel the book is fantastic. This one allowed me to do just that. I have already read two other books by this author, and they quickly became some of my favorite reads. I think I may have found a new favorite author. I have another one of his books that I haven't started yet, but I am ready to do that now. I am eagerly awaiting the next book....to see how the serial killer's life changed when he woke up in a younger body!

This book is the first in the Middle falls series. After reading the first chapter I was hooked. The premise is a reincarnation, really more of a do-over for Thomas Weaver. I know that I can't be the only person who has thought "wouldn't it be great to be able to go back in time knowing everything that I do now". Ummmm yah, maybe not such a great deal. This book really hit on some areas that I can't fathom having to go through again.
I don't think any further description of what the book about is necessary. If the description catches you, READ THIS BOOK, you're gonna love it. I finished the series in three days and my only regret is that I am Jonsing for the next one.

I have to say, when I first started this book, I put it down saying, "I don't want to read a sad story about a pathetic drunk." Interestingly, I picked it back up several days later as I had been thinking about Thomas Weaver and his awful life. So.... Thomas kills his poor pathetic drunk self and ends up back in his life as a teenager. He knows what happened in his life and there is so much he wants to change. The story carried me along and I thought about it even when I wasn't reading it. Think about how hard it would be to actually relive your life knowing the outcome...... knowing that you will kill your brother at the end of the summer, knowing that a schoolmate will eventually be a serial killer, knowing that your mom will end up living with you in her old age. He honestly wants to fix things, and he has difficulty remembering that he isn't really 54 years old, he is a teenager. I really enjoyed the entire book! The ending was crazy! I didn't predict that! It's not a cliffhanger......... I don't like those, but there is another book in this series! Yay! The ending was great! The best! I am so glad I picked this book back up and read it. I really do recommend it. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Unusual is one way of describing this book about a 54-yr-old man whose life is in shambles, who somehow wakes up in his 15-yr-old self’s body. Keeping his memories and experiences, he gets a chance to right some wrongs and possibly alter the future of not only his life, but some of his fellow high school'ers. Interesting concept, and presented well. How many of us have uttered the words ‘if I knew then what I know now’ when pondering the idea of re-living one’s earlier times? This book is the epitome of that, although done with some heavy situations that a 15 yr old must deal with. I more than like will read further into this series.

I read this, the first in the series, having first enjoyed reading the second, The Redemption of Michael Hollister. I wasn't disappointed, what a great story! Reading them out of order didn't reduce my enjoyment. I love the concept of having more than one chance at life, and the clever twist that you come back at whatever age you died. In this particular story, Thomas is a fifty-four year old man in a fifteen year old body, and has one goal in mind, not killing his beloved older brother for a second time. Great read, now off to buy the third in the series.

I was given an advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review. I'm ALWAYS HONEST in everything I review!

Shawn Inmon is quickly becoming another of my favorite authors. I have a few shelves full of novels by Michael Connelly, Nicholas Sparks and Anne Tyler. Now I'm starting a collection of Inmon's work, and so far my favorite is The Unusual Second Life of Thomas Weaver.

The story begins with Thomas/Tommy at age 15, being invited to a party by his older brother Zack. The elder of the two had recently graduated from high school, and was off to college after a summer of partying with his 18 y/o classmates. When the outdoor party is broken up by a deluge, Tommy finds Zack passed out from too much beer. Tommy drives Zack's old Camaro home, and tragedy strikes on that drive. I'm trying not to include any/many spoilers, so I hope this review won't be too abstract without key details.

We fast forward from 1976 to 2016. Thomas has become a depressed alcoholic. At age 54, he still lives with his mother and basically has no life, except what he finds in a bottle. The final blow is losing a lousy job selling used cars. Unable to see a reason to get up the next day, Thomas downs a handful of sleeping pills.

This takes us to a twist on reincarnation and time travel. What's unique about this story is that Thomas, 'reincarnated' back to his life a year or so before the fateful accident, yet he remembers all the years he lived after that. Our hero is determined to change the future by changing the past (which is currently his present.) Confused? Read the book and it will all make sense.

I love well-written time travel stories, and this one gives an interesting spin on that theme. Most protagonists who go back in time, try carefully NOT to make changes in events, so as not to change the future. In this case, Thomas DOES try to change the future for a few people...and his failure or success affects the future of countless individuals and families.

Michael Hollister is a budding serial killer at Tommy & Zack's high school, and Tommy is determined to stop those crimes before any people get hurt.

WARNING: There are a couple of scenes involving severe animal abuse. If that is too disturbing for you, skip the details of Tommy going into the cave in the woods.

Tommy/Thomas does manage to stop Hollister, but at great cost to him and others.

Imprisoned for his first murder, Hollister hangs himself in his cell. However, he travels back to being a young child.

The sequel to 'The Unusual Second Life of Thomas Weaver' is revealed at the end. I don't think I'll spoil anything by telling the title: 'The Redemption of Michael Hollister.'

I can't wait to read it!

Loved the book...enjoyed it immensely. I have read several others by this author, and like his writing very much. Very interesting concept and premise for the book. Took me back to my adolescence and revisited the difficulties (for me) of that time. Very easy to put myself in his skin. Thomas Weaver is an ordinary man, a good person trying to make sense of his life, which has been full of errors and failures.. When he reaches his limit, he ends his life and begins again as a fifteen year old on a mission to change his life. The plot was simple, yet complex, as is each of our lives. The characters were very believable, and well developed. I empathized with Thomas, and was frightened by Michael's evil. They rang true for the time and place. I do not recall any typos specifically, altho I have noted grammar or typos in many of the books I have read recently, both on line an in hard copies.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review; I looked forward to reading it as I have read so many others of Shawn Inmon's. As the book was originally published in serial installments, I found it most difficult to wait for the continuing tale.

Really enjoyed this book. Enjoyed the 2nd one even more. I scare easily , EXTREMELY EASILY, and there were a couple of places where I had to close the book and do something else to detach from the story a bit. Tommy definitely made a lot of decisions differently from what I would have done given a second chance at life, but it made it more interesting.

Thomas Weaver is a high school student who is driving when his brother Zack is thrown from the car and killed. Tommy never quite recovered and in his 50's he mixes pills and alcohol to end his pain. Strangely, he wakes up as a teenager back in his childhood bedroom. Now is seems like he has been given a second chance to live his life over. Will he be able to change what happened to his brother? And, now that he knows what has happened to others later in their life can he change things and make it better for them? I found the concept of this book very interesting and the characters are very strong. I couldn't put this book down and I hated for it to end!

I was unsure when I started the book. I generally relate better to main characters I have something in common with & an old drunk who has given up on life because of poor choices & survivors guilt isn't it. That said, the story ended up sucking me in anyway. It was not just another groundhogs day do over till you get it right story. The book brought up Challenges one might face in a second chance at Life that I never would have considered. It was well written, thought provoking & I would read a sequil. My bigest dissapointment in the book was what I felt was too frequant use of crude language. There was enough cussing in the story to distract from the story for me. ( though highschool kids today probably hear that much in the halls at school, i think it fit in less in the time period he went back to.) Otherwise I'd have given it 5 stars. I really enjoyed seeing the characters growth throughout the book. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

If there's one sub-genre of science fiction that is difficult to get right, it's time travel. All too often, stories begin with the best of intentions but collapse mid-way through due to the internal logic of the book's universe being unable to stand up to rigorous scrutiny. Not so with 'The Unusual Second Life of Thomas Weaver'. Here, Shawn Inmon has discovered a fresh take on the subject and created a world crammed with realistic, compelling characters. I began reading before bed, aiming to enjoy a few chapters - but ended up staying awake until the early hours, eventually reading the entire book in one sitting. More than once, I *knew* I had worked out which direction the story was headed, only to have my theories dashed and my curiosity raised another notch or ten. This is a wonderful book, filled with people you care for, root for, and want to come out on top. I'll be starting the sequel this evening, and I'm currently fighting the urge to head to bed early to get started. Very highly recommended.

Shane Inmon is a wonderful author, and this book did not disappoint. Though it was a bit different from others of his I have read, it still kept me captivated from one chapter to the next. Each chapter left you wanting to read the next one as soon as possible. There is a bit of the supernatural in this story, but that does not take away from the story line. It was one of those books that made you think about your own life and what you might do differently if you had the chance. To say much more would give away to much about the story. If you like a story that you can enjoy and one that has a bit of mystery, please check this book out. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I won't go into details about the plot as several other reviewers have already covered that but I really enjoyed this book. Generally, this would not be my genre of choice but I found myself pulled into the story early. I didn't like Thomas in the beginning, yet, I found myself thinking about him when I WASN'T reading the book. He was raw. HIs thoughts and emotions were real and honest. Dealing with a young serial killer as a teen was a really interesting angle and that aspect of the story was fascinating to me. There is a sequel at the end but the story line of Thomas, the main character, was completely resolved in this book so reading the sequel is completely optional although I'm anxious to read it!! Life doesn't always end perfectly and all the situations in this book don't have a fairy tale ending. I found myself thinking about the characters throughout the day and was anxious to finish the book to find out the ending. I would strongly recommend this read although there is more cursing in this book than I usually find with this author. That is my only criticism.

I have read almost every single book Shawn has written and I have never been disappointed in any one of them.
This book is easy to relate to if you spend your teenage years in a small or medium size town. If you grew up in the late 70's you can really relate to this book. But it is the hardest book for me to read but that is because of my personal relationship to some of the subject matter in this book, (IE I have always had Dachshunds since I was in grade school).
It is not a light hearted or whimsical, it does contain some dark subjects but not anything that hasn't happened in real life.
I do feel the "supernatural" aspect could have been developed more instead of being used to bridge gaps and concepts so the story moved along.
But this is still a great book and if you are looking for something to read seaside or lakeside get this book.

I love the genre and grabbed this book from the Kindle Unlimited selection. With a quick read of a couple reviews the book looked up my lane. I was was very pleased with the story, the characters and could not sit it down. The book takes Thomas Weaver back to the 70's which I grew up in. It's easy to relate to and was so enjoyable that not only did I run my ipad dead I had to read a little on my phone before I passed out at midnight. I finished the book the next day, about 20 hours after I downloaded it. Great story.

Shawn Inmon never fails. I fell in love with his writing about a year ago. His characters are loveable, hateable and everything in between.

Thomas Weaver is a guy that has a very messed up life. He finally just gives up and kills himself but that is where this book really starts.

Thomas has a chance to answer the question: What would you do different, if you could start over again? He gets that chance when he wakes up as a teenager, again. He still has his 55 year old memories but in his teenage mind. How Shawn makes this a believable story is beyond me, but it makes you question yourself, what if....

I highly recommend this book, you won't be disappointed.

It's difficult to write a review of this book without including a lot of spoilers and I don't want to do that. I've enjoyed this author's earlier books and although this one is a different genre, it didn't disappoint.
This book causes you to think about what you would do if you were in a similar circumstance. Having an ability to change the future - or not - is an interesting concept.
This is not my usual read but I'm so glad I took a chance because of the author, It's a great book that gives you a lot to think about. I think I'll recommend it to my book group. It's the kind of book that I'd like to be able to discuss with other people.

I have to admit that if I would have read the synopsis of the book ahead of time I probably would have chosen not to read it because I don't usually like time travel/sci Fi kind of stories. BUT, I am so glad that I did read it!

I was given this book for free to give an honest review. This is the third Shawn Inmon book I've read and this one was as good but so completely different from the other two. I'm very impressed with the author's creativity in this one.

I think we all wonder sometimes if we had to do it all over again, would we do things differently? If was an emotional and entertaining journey following Thomas through this.

I found myself rooting for the underdog, booing the villain, relating to and remembering the petty issues of being a teenager. I felt I knew the characters and I could picture them in my mind so easily, that to me is the sign of a great writer.

There were times when bad things happened that it was a bit graphic for my liking but I think the graphic descriptions were needed to really tell the story. I loved the references to 70s life, it brought back many memories from my childhood. I live in the Pacific Northwest so I understood all of the specifics relating to this area although I'm sure readers from other areas would not know all of the local references, but I don't think that would change their understanding of the story.

The only typo I saw was one song title that was not italicized, other than that, this was a clean read with a great vocabulary.

I would love to see this be a series of books! I would definitely buy them!

I got the first two on a special deal for free, borrowed episode 3 thru the store Prime and was so hooked purchased each of the next three episodes, all on my Kindle. I loved being carried back in time and it was fascinating to be inside the character's head as he re-experiences his life. The author made it all seem so believable. It was a fast read and I couldn't wait to get to the next episode. If there are more books coming in the series I will definitely be buying in! I have read other Shawn Inmon stories and enjoyed them too!

Thomas's life is screwed up worse than most people's, then he gets the chance of more than a lifetime. It's not all roses this second chance. The problems are more than just keeping a secret, things branch unexpectedly as Thomas tries to do the right thing.
Years ago I read the book 'Replay' which was in a similar vein, it stuck with me and I imagine this one will too. Looking forward to reading the next one in the series. I recommend this one.

First off this should have been labelled YA. I like time travel and replay stories and this is one of the most poorly plotted I have ever read. While it's a good story, unfortunately the author couldn't quite put it together. It suffers from a MC and the dialog of a preteen. The MC starts out as a loser and a doofus and pretty much remains that way, at least for the 3/4 of the story I finished.
Example? Who in their right mind would pull a prank on a serial killer? Yep, this MC does.
The author apparently felt the 54 year old MC should act and think like a 15 year old, the age he regresses to.

The Unusual second life of Thomas weaver

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and an honest review you shall get.

For several reasons I give the story 3 out of 5 stars.

When I read the beginning of this book I almost closed it, had I read the story before? How did the guy from Rock N Roll heaven die? Didn't Shawn write this story before or did someone else publish one that was similar? Could This be a re-write of Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol? Deja vu? Anyway, I decided to continue reading because I made a commitment to the writer when he gave me the opportunity to be one of the first to read his book, I would read it and review it as promised.

By chapter 17 I'm feeling, all- though Shawn Inmon will never be Dickens, he's done a great job of portraying a Scrooge like character. He’s added some great detail to an old story and made it fresh and relevant to the times. Shawn has referenced, books, music, political happenings, and even serial killers we have all heard the stories of.

While we do not see the ghosts of Christmas, there are angels that sound like aliens who's story is not only stilted, fragmented and uninteresting, it also makes no sense. The book would be much better without the chapters talking about them.

Overall the main plot is quite interesting and worth reading , yet the book would be much better without the chapters talking about the Angel/aliens. .

I loved this book from the beginning, to the end. As someone who has wished things were different, and wished I could start over again, this hit a nerve. And for all the wishing, here I sit. But no so for Thomas Weaver. He gets his chance to start over, and and he gets to do it right the second time around. And he gets to retain his memories of his first, failed, life. Read this book, and like all of Shawn's work, you will not be disapointed.

This trip through the wormhole of a middle age man getting to be a teenager again was a fantastic story. I didn't know D and D was out in the seventies as I played in the eighties. As I was reading this book, I was yelling at the protagonist that he was being stupid. Of course now I am going to go over some sporting almanacs just in case I go back too, just in case.

Tommy was not a likable character at the beginning of the story -- but he comes to learn what he's made of when he awakens as a teen again and finds he was given a do-over of his life. That's when the story grabbed me and pulled me into Tommy's world. The premise reminded me a little of Our Town, in that Tommy sees what he couldn't see the first time around: that life in all its mundane details and interactions really is precious. This is some of Shawn Inmon's best writing. Add to that his ability to keep the twists coming to the very end of the book, and he's created a great grabber of a story. He is working on a sequel, and I can't wait to see the continuing story. I was given this book free in exchange for an honest review.

"I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review" I have read all of Shawn Inmon's books and I enjoyed this one as much as the others. I mean, who has never thought about being given a "do over" in their life. The premise of the book is really interesting. I enjoyed seeing things from Tommy's point of view throughout the entire book. The big twist (or what I think is the big twist) is suspenseful. Wondering the entire book if the things Tommy wishes he could change, will change, kept me reading. I highly recommend this book!

Ok, so let me just start off with the fact that I am not an avid reader. I have only read 2 books in the last 2 years, one of them being The Glass House which my mom recommended I read and the other being The Unusual Second Life of Thomas Weaver. This is my first ever review. I really enjoyed reading The Unusual Second Life of Thomas Weaver. I was drawn into the story from the very first chapter. As I said, I don't normally read, the last time I read any books was in 1990 other than reading The Glass House last year, but I finished this book in 2 days. It would have been in one day had I been smart enough to start reading it on my day off but because I needed to go to work the next day I couldn't stay up all night reading. I already can't wait to read his next book coming soon.....The Redemption of Michael Hollister. For me, the sooner the better. I would like to read it while I still have all the details of this book still in memory. I really did enjoy this book much more than The Glass House.

This book is enough to get you hooked on his other two that came out afterwards, plus the fourth one that will be out soon (March 2018?) This is a standalone book and is great on its own, but gives you a taste of Shawn's writing style, which I love. Cannot get enough of his books!

I've read everything Shawn Inmon has written and he never fails to entertain. I am from the graduating class of 1977, so when Thomas Weaver finds himself back in the seventies, I felt as though I'd gone back with him, it brought a flood of memories back from that era. I loved the characters, they seemed very real, and the way the book is written makes time travel seem almost possible.
I certainly hope Mr Inmon continues to write more books about these characters, and takes us on more journeys like Thomas Weaver went on.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed the book as it's not a genre I'd normally read. The plot is skillfully woven and the characters plausible making it a compelling read from start to finish. I look forward to reading the sequels.

I loved this story. It is definitely a page turner. I couldn't wait to see how it ended. The characters were so real. I felt like I was there with Thomas. It was well written and I can't wait for the sequels. Keep up the good work Shawn!

I have to be honest and say that I did not like Tommy at the beginning of the book. He was a drunk who never got past the tragedy that happened in his youth. But when he awoke as a teen again and was given a do-over in his life, he became determined to made a change. The story grabbed me, made me care what happened to the characters. I was sad to see it end and glad to find out that another book is in the works about one or more of the characters. I was given this book free in exchange for an honest review but I will buy the next books.

First and foremost, this is definitely a book worth a read. I did have problems with parts of the book. Certain twists in the book in the end either did not pan out or became convoluted. Without spoiling the book for any of those who have not gotten a chance to read it there were parts that I couldn't put down and other parts that left me scratching my head. I however do look forward to a sequel novel with the hopes that the "rules" of how the time travel device becomes more developed.

While I am a fan of Shawn Inmon's work, I will honestly say that I was not expecting to like this book as much as I did. I never gravitate to "time travel" genre, so this piece truly surprised me. I was captivated by the end of the first chapter! Shawn brought such an organic understanding to a complicated story line. I have such an appreciation for the struggle, dispair and growth this character embarks upon. Thankful I read this book, as it has opened a door to future reads of it's likeness.

There is a theme that runs through Shawn Inmon books. Redemption. Second Chances. This strikes home with all of us.

I originally read this in the serial novel format and couldn't wait until the next one was available.
You will not be disappointed. This book as well as all of Shawn's books have great characters.
I also like unpredictability. Plot twists. Can't wait for the sequel.

I was given a free copy of the book for an honest review. I have to admit I enjoyed reading this book a lot more than I expected. The concept of "time travel" was presented in a realistic manner for the most part. I did get a little confused when the angels (I think they were angels ) were talking, but everything else made sense. The characters were true to form. It brought back a lot of high school memories! Overall this is an interesting read. Now I want to find out more about Michael in the sequel!

This book is great fun and well worth a read.

Lots of mini cliff hangers to keep you guessing and particularly liked the fact it makes you think about how daft our reliance on technology now is.

Only improvement for me would be I'd like to have understood more about the "“Temporal Relocation Assignment Department, Earth Division".

There are still a few questions unanswered like why that point in their lives, what the "Angel's" job is and how much everyone else's life changes due to a mass murderer being caught before becoming mass.
I can't wait for more.

Thoma's gets the chance to relive his life from high school on. It was interesting to find out what he was able to change and what he could not change. It really helps that he knew what was going to happen ahead of time. It makes you wonder what you might do differently given the chance. Well written, easy to follow.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read this book when it was a series of short stories. I literally made an audible sound when I got to the last page of each story. Patience was not my strong suit waiting for each to follow. The story is suspenseful with the right touch of creepy. It's a perfect read for anyone who loves a great story. Mr. Inmon did it again. Even with a story of this type, his writing has a way of making you feel like you are living the story. You feel the emotions, you can almost smell scents. He takes you there in every book he has written. Hands down he is my favorite author and this book is in my top 5. You will not be disappointed.
