Love all of Stephanie 's books and the whole Argeneau clan. Always look forward to the next story so I can see what happens and follow what is happening in their lives. Would be great if they were real people, they would be an interesting family to know for sure.

A Bite to Remember by Lynsay Sands
Book #5: Argeneau Series
Source: Purchase
My Rating: 4½/5 stars

Jackie Morrisey has had to fight for every ounce of respect she’s received. As a woman working in the male-dominated field of private detecting, Jackie has had to work harder, longer, more efficiently, and more successfully than her male counterparts. She takes crap from no one, handles her business discreetly and professionally, and prides herself on her resourcefulness and capabilities. With her partner, Tiny, Jackie has managed to amass an impressive client list, and the Argeneau’s are among them!

Vincent Argeneau is a man of the theater! For four centuries he has worked to build his theatrical empire, his reputation, and a loyal following. For four centuries, with few exceptions, Vincent has little trouble enjoying the life and work he has built for himself. The last several months have been a most decided exception to the four-century rule. In the last few months, Vincent’s productions and people have been plagued by mishaps and misfortunes. From physical accidents to spontaneous abandonment of parts, Vincent has no idea what or who has begun to plague his life, and if he doesn’t find out soon, all he has built is going to be ruined.

Jackie has intention of seeing Vincent Argeneau as anything other than a client. He may be dead sexy, accomplished, and surprisingly nice, but he’s a vampire and she’s had her fill of those blood-sucking bastards! One truly awful and tremendously embarrassing relationship with a vampire is more than enough for a lifetime so Jackie walks in to Vincent’s home and life with nothing more than work on her brain. Until things other than work begin to pop into her brain. With more than a bit of trepidation, and with a serious whack job on the loose and targeting her client, Jackie embarks on a relationship with Vincent.

The Bottom Line: Y’all, I totally adored this book!! Jackie is kickass and sassy with no tolerance for anyone’s bullsh*t!! Though she knows about vampires, her perspective is quite skewed, and she learns so much being in Vincent’s home and life. Accompanying Jackie is Tiny, one of my favorite characters in the entire series! Tiny is steady, calm, quiet, skilled, and a wonderful balance to Jackie. He cares for her as much as Vincent does, but in a very different way. He is, by far one of the most endearing characters in the series. Vincent is a funny character for me, and one the author was able to totally change my opinion about. Vincent first appears in book four, Tall, Dark, and Hungry and comes off as a rather childish character. In this book, we see a much different, much improved Vincent. He is actually quite mature, committed to his work and his employees, and interested in finding his life mate. In fact, Vincent is quite a likeable character and a perfect fit for the feisty and fiery Jackie. What really pushed me over the edge with this book, was the big reveal at the end and the reasons behind all the awful! Though it is a tragic story, I really liked the dark turn that absolutely set this story apart from the rest of the series!

A Bite to Remember by Lynsay Sands is the fifth book in this exciting series. Vampires are one of my most favorite paranormal stories to read about...there are so many twists and turns. With the amount of vampire novels out there, it should be a dull subject. Yet, Lynsay Sands makes reading about vampires the most entertaining thing I have ever read. I laughed so hard, I swear my family looks at me like I'm crazy. I fall hard for the characters. Oh my gosh, Vincent is the featured vampire alpha male in this story. He has been sort of fading away from everything. Everything in life has grown boring for him. After spending hundreds of years looking for a life mate, Vincent gave up...until a particular sassy human female enters into his life. His cousin sends a female detective to take care of whoever is threatening Vincent. He appears sexist at first but then just goes with it. He grew up in a time when men rule the world. However, he comes to respect Jackie. Jackie took over her father's business. But there's a bump in her past that makes her act bitchy towards Vincent. Vincent is the kindest vampire in the world...and Jackie will eventually fall for him. But will Vincent fall for her? Plus, there's the mystery and suspense of who is behind all of the sabotage and murders...overall, I would highly recommend this book to readers everywhere. I couldn't stop reading it.

I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

This book continues the story of the Argeneaus by focusing on Vincent. We spent some time with Vincent in the previous book, but I kind of thought he was a little... immature. I was glad that the Vincent we met in this book was pretty different.

Vincent's business is suffering a bit of bad luck, but the latest incidents have forced him to acknowledge that there is something fishy going on. This much bad luck just can't happen to one person. Using Bastien (as the whole family does), he ends up opening up his life to Jackie, a PI who is "in the know" about their kind.

Jackie has a huge problem with vampires. Unfortunately, her business is largely hired by them. She's determined to put her prejudices aside and be the most professional person she can be. This would've worked out just fine if she didn't find herself attracted to the bloodsucker who hired her. She and her partner end up moving in to the barren house that Vincent lives in to play the pretend roles of PA and housekeeper which makes it much harder to ignore their chemistry.

While investigating the mystery baddie who is sabotaging Vincent's work, Jackie and Vincent end up discovering that fate might have thrown them together. With all the drama surrounding their getting together, it was wonderful to watch both these people end up with a HEA, even if it wasn't the one I anticipated.

Although I liked both Vincent and Jackie, it seemed to be a little light on the romance part of the story.
The focus seemed to be more on the mysteries that surrounded them. Who was out to get Vincent and Why? Those questions will be answered and they come with a surprising twist. Jackie's partner in her business was named Tiny, which was a misnomer because he was a gentle giant. He added to the story as well, having known and worked with Jackie for some time. He had some unusual skills as well, like when he got nervous or anxious, he headed straight to the kitchen and did a great job.
The person who has been tormenting Vincent was well hidden with some interesting ways of not being identified. There are plenty of twists and red herrings which make it easier for the villain to remain hidden. The motive is a surprise as well.
Although I would have liked to rate it at a higher star, I just couldn't. I like the series but this one just wasn't quite as good as I would have liked. I will still keep reading the series though because most of them are pretty good and I like the "family".

Although I really do love reading this series and have reread each one, what seems a million times, I really don't like Vincent and Jackie.

In the previous book (Tall, Dark, and Hungry) Vincent was not quite so serious and seemed to be quite a playful man. I understand that his production and plays are being sabotaged, but he wasn't as funny in his own book as before.

Jackie was as immature as a main female character can be. To judge a whole species based on how one treated you is like giving up all men because one broke your heart. She's carried a chip on her shoulder for a decade against all immortals because one took advantage of her.

I was really hoping to like Vincent's book, but I was just left disappointed and wondering where did Lynsay's sense of humor go?
Although I do have to admit I loved Tiny and can't wait to see if he gets a life mate.

Vincent is in trouble with someone wreaking havoc on his plays. They become increasingly more serious so his cousin Bastien sends a PI in to help. At first Vincent is stunned to find a short, mortal woman and a large man shadowing her knocking at his door but quickly adapts and welcomes any help they can provide. Jackie was the big, tough guy in a little woman's body and Tiny was a very small woman in a very large man's body when it came to their personalities. They made the perfect team, him being the calm, laid back rock to her aggressive, overcompensating tendencies. I love Tiny's character and how he immediately fits into Vincent's home playing his cover as the housekeeper and thought him especially endearing wearing his pink "I'm The Cook!" apron. Jackie is instantly attracted to Vincent's dark hair, incredible body and stunning silver-blue eyes but nonetheless tries to fight it because of the disaster with Cassius. Vincent, also a very rare member of the Argeneau males, sports an easygoing humor & lifestyle but is unable to rely on ABB for his meals and has to "Feed off the hoof" so to speak. Knowing Jackie is trying to fight her attraction, he unabashedly flaunts himself in front of her in the funniest but least subtle ways. He cracks me up! Funny characters, a little steam and a great mystery plot. Would have liked more romance between Vincent and Jackie but all in all, a good read

We met fun and quirky Vincent in book 4 and now get to live through Vincent's shot at a life mate. Vincent is being sabotaged at work and enlists the help of his cousin Bastien to find the culprit. Help comes in the form of a little mortal knockout named Jackie. Jackie is all too aware of the sexual charm and dark nature of the immortal. She has first hand knowledge and has no desire to ever repeat those mistakes. Little does she expect to have all her ideas about immortals changed as she gets pulled deeper and deeper into Vincent's world while solving who is trying to ruin him and even possibly kill him.

A Bite to Remember is about Vincent Argeneau, the somewhat weird but funny cousin that was staying in Bastien's loft in the previous book.

Vincent own a theater production company and someone is sabotaging his plays. First it was only material damage but now the saboteur has injured 2 of the actors. Vincent ask his cousin Bastien for help and Bastien sends a PI who he has worked with before.

Vincent is really surprised when a woman shows up on his doorstep, a mortal woman! He expected a guy in a trench coat and gets a voluptuous woman in sexy business suit. Vincent is immediately attracted to Jackie but she might prove hard to seduce... she knows everything there is to know about vampires and works with them on a regular basis, but she loathes vampires.

A Bite to Remeber wasn't only the story of how Vincent and Jackie meet, with the usual funny and sexy moments I love from Lynday Sands, but also the intrigue of finding this saboteur who is messing with Vincent's company. It was another great book and I can't wait to read the next one!

Vincent Argeneau is a 400 year old vampire who may be getting a bit tired of life. That doesn't mean he wishes for his aunt Marguerite coming for a visit to mother him and try to fix him up with the lifemate he has yet to find. Vincent has problems enough. His entertainment production company has been plagued by so much bad luck and accidents he's now certain there is a saboteur at work. His cousin Bastien has sent him a PI he's worked with.

Jackie Morrissey is a no-nonsense PI. She's not thrilled that Vincent slams the door in her face while on the phone with his cousin, astounded that she's a woman and worse, human. She's worked with vampires before, although she doesn't trust them, not after an incident when she was young and one took advantage of her in order to get to her father, who founded the detective agency. She's attracted to Vincent, but doesn't want to trust him... or even like him. But the saboteur's tricks are getting more extreme--leading up to murder, and she's not going to let anything get in the way of solving the case and keeping her client safe, even though he's a vampire and she's a mere human.

Jackie is a feisty heroine, smart and sensible. Vincent is sweet and caring... a guy who shouldn't have an enemy who wants to destroy everything he cares about. The supporting characters are all interesting to the point that they could all carry off their own books. There is Jackie's partner, Tiny, a bear of a man who loves cooking. Marguerite is lovely, calm and wise. And then there is a contingent of Italian vampires who are all fabulous.

The mystery is suspenseful and threatening, and not quite as easy to solve as the author leads you to believe. And the threats and the action scenes are all good.

The romance is sweet and the sex scenes steamy.

There's no new territory explored here, but then, it's a vampire romance, so as long as the required elements are enjoyable, it's a success, and this book does not fail.

I'm a little confused by all those reviews out there that describe this as a more serious and darker book. I can only assume they don't normally read dark books, especially if they thought this one was one. I would still classify this as fluff. Not that there is anything wrong with a fluff book. They are fun, easy, and quick. Sands most certaintly added in a bit of mystery. I.E. Jackie the P.I. and her partner, Tiny, are sent by Bastien to Vincent in California to discover who is sabotagoing his plays. Although, this is not centered in the writing. The writing mostly is about Jackie's past and why she hates immortals (vampires), Vincent wanting to find his life mate, and how Tiny really loves to cook. The mystery is not much a mystery except to the characters. The reader will figure things out rather quickly on their own. I did like the Itallian crew that came in to help save the day. I'm guessing Sands is getting ready to move on to another family of males. I can't wait to read about the twins, they sound delightfully sexy. I was a bit disappointed. Vincent being the vampire, I was expecting it to be funnier. There was only two times I found the writing cute enough to smile and neither was due to Vincent. One-the twins, Two-the pharmacy delivery boy. You'll see.

Vampire Vincent Argeneau knows he needs outside help to uncover the culprit sabotaging his film production company. Sight unseen he accepts his cousin Bastien's recommendation and hires expert private investigators Jackie Morrisey and Tiny McGraw to help him. Worse yet, Bastien's mom, Vincent's Aunt Marguerite has left Canada because she believes her nephew is lonely and needs her help. Finally Vincent has a heart attack (that is if vampires could have heart attacks) when he realizes that his sleuth is mortal.

To his chagrin, Jackie knows him to well including the fact that he like his dad need live blood not bagged blood to survive. She also makes it clear that she believes all immortals belong in hell, but will do the job of protecting the vampire and uncovering the identity of the saboteur. Jackie hides from her client that she finds him sexy and desirable. Vincent finds Jackie as the first refreshing thing he has come across since just after he came across. He wonders if she is his life mate and will she accept joining him in the immortality of love.

The latest Argeneau vampire romance (see LOVE BITES and SINGLE WHITE VAMPIRE) is a terrific entry that grips the audience from the moment that Vincent realizes that his cousin sent him a female mortal. This seemingly star-crossed match is great as the paring has some blood issues between them, which in turn keep readers wondering how these soulmates will come together. A BITE TO REMEMBER is a fabulous addition to the world's most dysfunctional vampire family as somber Jackie fits right in the mix.

This was the first book that I have read by this author and I found it to be a lot of fun. I liked the main characters whose personalities were well developed over the course of the novel. The supporting characters were also well developed and they added to the story. I liked the twists that developed and the murder mystery that was at the heart of the story. It is obvious that this is a continuation of a series and although I have not read any of the others this did not prevent me from enjoying the book. I will be looking for other books by this writer and I would recommend this novel for people that like a good vampire romance with a humorous twist.

I remember reading about Vincent in Bastien's story and his and his father's disorder where they couldn't survive off bagged blood and needed to feed off the "hoof" I was happy to finally get around to reading his story. Jackie was sent to help Vincent by Bastien to investigate someone trying to ruin his plays. Jackie already knows about Vampires and has no fondness for them thanks to an old Vampire boyfriend who controlled and used her. It was fun watching her realize what an amazing and loving vampire Vincent was and watching her drop her walls. Vincent was starting to get depressed and not eating as much as he should or enjoying life. Jackie walks in and all that changes. Their chemistry was amazing and I loved watching them fall in love. I got a kick out of Tiny and the whole Notte clan. Overall it was a great read

Linsay Sands books have a great witty funny story line, along with a mystery that leaves you guessing until the end, And this one wasn't any different. Vincent is a bored with life immortal actor, who is also one of the few immortal's that must feed from mortals directly thanks to an anomaly with his system. He also hates doing so and is quite picky about who he chooses to feed from. When too many accidents start occurring on his sets of plays he calls in private investigator Jackie Morrisey. Along with finding his life mate in her, they, with the help of friends solve the mystery of the accidents.

I really did enjoy it. It's a very quick read. I'm not going to write a plot summary since others on the store have already did this. I enjoyed the interaction between the characters. However I did feel like there were too many new characters introduced. I wish Ms. Sands would have stayed with just a couple, but I think she wanted to mention some others for future books. I did however enjoy that she made this book a little darker than the others. I enjoy vampire fiction and her previous light hearted books gave me a break but this touch of darkest keeps my interest. I did however feel the plot was simple to figure out and for that I can't give this book 5 stars. I do recommend this book to others looking for something quick, easy and fun to read. It's definitely not a dark, brooding, philosophical vampire book. Enjoy.

I keep saying this buts it's true. I love this series. Not only are the plots great but the books are funny. These immortals are just so out of touch at times they make me laugh out loud.

Vincent has enlisted the help of Bastien's detective to try and stop the saboteur of his production company. Jackie is said detective who comes to CA from NYC with her associate Tiny. Jackie hates/fears all immortals because of something in her past at age 19. Vincent perks right up when Jackie is around. They go shopping for kitchen supplies and food - very funny. Tiny acts as the maid and cook. He cooks up some great food that Vincent eats. Jackie acts as his PA. What follows is a great detective/life story.

With so many authors jumping on to the "Vamp" wagon it's hard to stay fresh in plotting and characterization. This author got it all right in an installment of the Argeneau series. Just a couple of points to get picky about--but that's for later. The good stuff includes a perfect setting for a vamp--"the theater", great secondary characters all well developed and smart leads who don't waste a lot of time explaining the paranormal basics of the genre. That level of skill delivers enough great bang for your reading buck-- add the meaningful sensuality between the leads and it's almost a five star winner! Here's the down side--there are at least two HUGELY significant plot developments that are essentially thrown away. Then the end comes way too fast and seems to be missing pieces--it feels rushed and incomplete instead of "done" it's more like "what...???" Still a light and lovely wander into...maybe not quite the dark side...more like deep twilight, enjoy!

I just finished reading "Tall, Dark and Hungry" yesterday and finished "A Bite to Remember" today. I have to say that I really like Lynsay Sands and her style. Her books are funny, quick to read and have more plot that many romance novels I've read recently.

This book was even better than "Tall, Dark and Hungry" to me. There was more consistency in the plot and there was more suspence, which I liked. It also had me guessing until the very end how the story line (though not the romance) would turn out. I can't say I loved how it ended mainly because I would never have guessed it. (If you're looking for a mystery type book where you have all the pieces to figure it out - this ain't it).

I didn't give this a 5 star for a couple reasons. First, since I just read "T,D&H" yesterday, the book was really fresh in my mind and one of the love scenes in "ABTR" was just about an exact duplicate of one in "T,D&H". Hot, but a repeat. Also, a couple things don't get resolved in this as well as I would like. But, hey, maybe they'll bring them up in the next book. I can't wait to find out!

All in all, a good read.

Wow, I really hate to give a book of Sands a bad review and maybe it should get one and a half stars for the quick story at the end but this was bad, and I don't understand the 5 star reviews.

1. The Private Investigator is incompetent. She never goes over the background of all the employes that she meets. Doesn't even ask about the closest ones to Vincent. Does put safeguards into place after the first break in so that a mortal guards the door? You have 6 vampires and the mortals answer the door?

2. As some of the books go, the hero, Vincent, drags his feet to test whether he can read Jackie and find out if she is his lifemate. Too bad because if he had, maybe there would have been more sex and dreams, etc.. to make up for...

3. the lack of... everything, sex (not enough), plot (Vincent keeps on getting attacked and they never learn anything, nothing they do helps in the investigation, and the only reason they catch the bad guy in the end is because of a fluke of spotting someone in a passing car? Then the reasoning behind the attacks is told and it is a total out of the left field reason).

4. The story line doesn't hold up to explanations on how things work for immortals. OK, immortals get stronger as they get older, so how does the 'bad guy' have so much mental control? Why in the end with 5 old immortals, could they not just take over the other's mind?

5. Sex, I kept waiting as Sands can really put these out but... one OK scene, one rushed sex scene and a scant dream scene. None of the orgasmic sex bites, really none, and no fainting from the first immortal orgasm. Even Lucian passed out after his first with his lifemate because he had abstained for so long. I've read 'A Quick Bite', 'Love Bites', 'Single White Vampire', 'Bite Me If You Can', and 'The Accidental Vampire', of Sands' vampire series and all had the fainting/ love bites, and pretty good to great sex.

6. Fun, where was the laughs. When I want a fun read, at least some laughs, I pick up a Sands. Some of her books are more serious than others, but she always infuses a little humor. I think I laughed once and it wasn't the 'I can't stop laughing, I'm crying' that many of her novels have inspired but a chuckle.

7. An unresolved occurrence in the book, the guy who gets turned doesn't have any of the cramps and thrashing, screaming, etc... They never talk to him again and you never hear about whether he is alright with it. You never find out why it didn't hurt him like turnings do.

OK, so is there any good? Well we meet some European vampires half way through and they have some character so further stories probably will be made. And we get to see who Marguerite leaves with to Europe. The only reason to read it would be for this, not a good enough reason. I would say to skip this one.

I cannot believe I just said that about a Lynsay Sands book. Wow. And I don't know why the other reviewers rated this one so highly.

I have always been afraid of vampires since I was a little girl, and so I have never had any desire to read about these scary monsters. Until one day when I when I was at the book store looking for something really good to read...well nothing of the usual fare was very interesting, and so I started looking at different types of books that I normally don't read. And then I came across "A Bite To Remember" by Lynsay Sands, after reading the back synopsis, it didn't seem too scary to me, so I took a chance on it. Now I am very happy to say, that I'm not afraid of vampires anymore! Lynsay Sands explanation of how vampires were created and evolved, really appealed to my scientific mind. Also this storyline's action, mystery, and romance are first rate. This was the first Lynsay Sands novel that I had ever read, and immediately after I finished it, I bought the rest of the Argeneau "vampire" family series. I can't wait for the next book in this series!!!

The series seems to be steadily improving. the mystery element was harder to solve. I feel like the series is heading in a good direction. I loved Jackie but would have appreciated knowing more about Vincent.

I agree with some of those who said that this lastest book is a bit darker than the former installments of this vampire series. Needless to say I LOVED Vincent, and thought he was a vampire that most women would die for (no pun intended). I am not only pleased Ms. Sands brought in a few characters from former books, but also introduced many new "sexy Italian" vamps as well. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one.

I wasn't sure of the order of the Argeneau series novels, so I accidentally bought books 6 and 7 before this one. If you don't read this before the other 2 (especially "Vampire, Interrupted"), you will be quite lost by the time you get to the middle of that installment. I rated this novel a 5 because of the background it provides into the later novels, and because the story is genuinely very interesting. You will love Vincent- if you've read Book 3, you will be pleased about how well Ms. Sands develops this quirky and fun character.

I love this series and I was really looking forward to Vincents story. While the overall story is okay I felt like the romance aspect was rushed and forced and not really believable. I liked the darker turn this book took with showing other aspects of the immortal world but was disappointed in the pairing. Jackie's character had the possibility to be really great and instead she came off too pushy and rude. When they finally get together it just wasn't believable. I feel like the whole purpose of this book was to set up scenarios and introduce characters for future books.

All in all it's okay but I'm a little sad for Vincent. He's my favorite character besides Tiny.

I love Vincent story - he was such a pest in the previous book, but not everything as it seems. Ms. Sands came up with a great story for Vincent - strong man, strong woman, great attraction, mystery - what else do we need a plot? Plus funny and well written. Great book!

So, this is the first in the series I've ever read - I guess I'm going to have to go back and catch up. This was a fairly quick read, but it was entertaining, endearing, and hot all in one. Jackie Morrisey's a PI (ably assisted by 6'5" "Tiny") who's been hired to find a saboteur who has been targeting actor/producer (since the days of Shakespeare), Vincent. Despite her bad history with vampires, his lovingly meddling aunt, and the need for blood "from the source" (thank goodness for deliverymen), Jackie and Vincent's personalities and libidos really click. I'm really happy I picked this off the shelf!

I've read all of her Argeneau series to-date and I have loved everyone. The combination of wit and plot is great. The characters is this edition are no different. Funny, sexy and loveable, these vamps can naw on my neck anyday! A must read for Lynsay Sands readers and those who haven't been initiated into her series yet. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I don't believe in giving 5 stars TO EVERY BOOK I READ. This one is a strong 4.

Lyndsay Sands has been one of my favorite authors for years. Her books are usually light and funny and very easy reads to help you releax. This newest edition was a surprise as was Vampire interrupted. I like that she's gone from her 'fluff' to stories that make you think and wonder a bit. I like a little suspense in the vampire stories I read. I also like the 'fluff' so I hope she doesn't totally give up on the funnier aspects on what it can be like to be an 'immortal'.

If you're looking for great romance and great sex with a bit of suspense mixed in, this book is for you.

This was the first I've read by Sands. It was recommended by the store due to other purchases I've made. I'm glad I went with it. I found the whole book to be wonderfully written from beginning to end. I felt for Vincent in his search for love and I understood Jackie's weariness toward men (vampire men to be exact). I could really feel the emotions of these people and I found myself "helping" them catch the bad guy. I'm looking forward to reading more and I just ordered "A Quick Bite" and can't wait to read that one.

Because of her others books I am a fan and this book was funny, and hot and the characters was one that you could believe in and nothing is better than a whole lot of tension and getting to know each other. You will enjoy this book and you will like how it end.

I enjoy this series, and always look forward to more.

We have several toothsome italian hunks introduced in this novel hopefully with potential for future novels. And we have all those female cousins and friends introduced in Lissiana's novel. Woo hoo!

I like this book, it's better than some other vampire lit books i read. The main character, Vincent, is very likeable, though Jackie is not so much at the beginning. It is not full of erotic scenes like many others, and it has a smooth tone. It is kind of a mystery book, though i wouldn't buy it if that's the reason for purchase.

I guess I *like* the fluff in the other Argeneau vamp books, because this one was a disappointment. I preordered back in November and was so excited when it arrived yesterday. Well, I was excited until I started reading anyway. This book is very obviously a set-up for the continuation of the Atlantis vamps series as we are introduced to six, count 'em six!, hunky Italian vamps from the Notte family (Dante, Tommaso, Christian, Marcus, Stephano and ...Neil). The stars of this book, Jackie and Vincent, really didn't shine in comparison to the leather clad, sexy Italians. The biggest sin, to me, was that Vincent was boring. I adored him from the previous books and found him not only sexy, but laugh out loud funny. This time around he was bland. The mystery was suspenseful, but the resolution was too quick and unsatisfying. This was much more of a mystery story than a romance. I didn't get at all wrapped up in the relationship between Jackie and Vincent; it was just sorta there. All in all, not a bad book, just not memorable.

Lyndsey deserves the 5 star rating because she is an exceptional writer who has been writing for a long time and I have loved reading her books!!! I've read more than 43,500 books in my life and counting and this particular author is one of my favorites!!! She has a way of pulling you in the stories and making you feel like you're right there with the characters!!!

When I finished Lynsay Sands "A Bite To Remember" I was, to my great surprise, *impressed*.

I expected the typical humor romance FLUFF that the former books of the series were. "Love Bites" "Tall Dark and Hungry" "Single White Vampire" and "A Quick Bite" were all enjoyable, but without a doubt, fluff-- cotton candy, cherry soda vampire fare. But the latest in the series really is a "A Bite To Remember" and is all dark, suspenseful, and red blooded as a vampire main course. Much more mature and adult themes in the content. I've read a lot of vamp related fiction that's come out this year, and this one rises to the top with high marks all around. So far it's one of my favorites of this year's crop of new paranormal fiction.

The very mortal PI Jackie Morrisey is called in to find out who is gunning for Vincent Argeneau, vampire, as his business suffers escalating acts of sabotage, from property damage, to injured employees, and now... murder. Jackie is one of the few people in the know about vampires, but her past encounter with an unscrupulous vamp named Cassius has left her on her guard, with good reason. Previous books in the series have focused on the honorable and almost laughably "goody goody" Argeneau vampires, who rarely misuse their powers. Now in the latest book, we see the darker, more sordid side of the coin, when vampires of nastier persuasion use those same powers casually, in ways that demean and destroy. Jackie has been a victim of the petty side of vampire powers, seduced and betrayed, she'd vowed never to let another vampire get to her that way again.

Vincent Argeneau has been slowly withdrawing from life for decades. Something he hadn't really realized until Jackie shows up and shakes it up enough that Vincent can see the difference between really living, and merely existing. Jackie's perception of vampires as selfish b*stards is challenged by the example Vincent presents, and his unexpected innocence about the dark natures that people around him, human and vampire, may act upon. Jackie has a mystery to solve, a client to protect, and it's not just her heart she might lose if she gets too close to Vincent.

Again, this is one of my favorite new paranormal reads of this year. Dark, suspenseful, and the sexual content got to me in the best way. I usually skim Romance Book sex, but this made me pause, rewind, and play over. Hot. *fans self*

Good stuff.
