First let me say that I am a HUGE fan of the Legend of Drizzt series. I have all of the novels and one of the graphic novels which included The Dark Mirror. It was interesting to see the differences between the graphic novel and Salvatore's penned work.

I'll be honest, there was not a story in this collection I did not like. As mentioned above, the contrast between what I had seen in the graphic novel version of The Dark Mirror and Bob's writing was interesting, but in my humble opinion, the climax of that story had a much greater impact in the short story than in graphic format. Again, my opinion. Reading the early exploits of young Artemis Entreri was an absloute delight. I have loved that character since the beginning and seeing what shaped him into the master assassin he is now was awesome.

I also enjoyed reading Bob's insights into the different stories; where they originated, what he had planned, basically filling in the gaps for us as readers. As a purely amateur writer I enjoy seeing the cogs and gears of truly great storytellers and Bob is no exception. The story of Guenhwyvar's figurine was one of my surprise favorites; excellent pace, signature Salvatore action and once again a glimpse into those nuts and bolts of a classic series.

Recently Bob's novels have included many more "OH MY GOD" moments than have some of his earlier works. The beauty of these moments is that he is able to get away with them, for better or worse, and his short stories (again, the ones more recently written) deliver these types of moments as well. The man is nothing if not consistent. The last two stories in the book literally gave me chills. Whether I'm just a weirdo who has invested way too much into this series or not, it was a job splendidly done by one R.A. Salvatore.

This is a must-have for anyone who follows the legend of Drizzt closely. Salvatore masterfully fills in the blanks and provids additional layers to an already deep and engrossing series. Well done indeed.

I got a bit bored by Salvatore's Drizzt novels, so when I saw a collection of short stories I couldn't pass it up. I'm glad I did. What a great collection of stories - deep enough to keep your interest but few, if any, sagging parts (the difference between a short story and a novel, mind you). What I love about short stories is the action is immediate and fulfilling; more than that, however, they allow you to learn more about a beloved character, something you haven't or didn't know from the novels.

Highly recommended!

Although I was dancing around his books for years, all it took was one book and I was a big R. A. Salvatore fan. I'm about 1/2 way through all his works now and looking forward to reading the rest. If you enjoy the fantastic genre, this author is a must read.

This was fantastic. I haven't listened too much to audio books. I liked the variety of the cast. My favorites were felica, Draco actor, and wil Weaton. If you are a fan. I highly recommend. This was great to listen to on my 45 min drive to and from work. It took me about a month to finish.

If you love the stories you will love the audio. Ive read all these stories already, and own them in multiple books.

THe Audible version is great, and has great readers, except for Ice T, he really didnt seem to enjoy reading or actually know what he was reading(he said so in a podcast).

What can I say. R.A. is the best of the Swords & Sorcery writers left to this age. He might be the last as there are fewer and fewer who can put together real books that are real entertainment. I guess that cable TV, Cell Phones, Laptop Streaming moves etc have killed the Fantasy Stars. But, I will continue to buy as much of the good stuff as I can and buy some of the Older stuff for my Kindle, who knows maybe my grandkids will find it and enjoy real good stories.

Don't stop halfway through the first book! I found that after I pushed my way through the tougher parts of the first book and I was happy I did. This series lights up the imagination and makes you feel for the main character Drizzt. If you do chose to give this series a try, like stated above, please read to at least the second book before you give up, you will not be disappointed.

This is a review for the audiobook which I got from Audible which is apparently a branch of the store now.

The individual entries in this collection of stories are good. The narration... is by an "All-star cast" none of whom are stars in narrating audiobooks. It makes a difference; the best of the narrators were okay, the worst were like a first-grader sounding out the words. It's not pronunciation, it's understanding what you've read before you say it out loud. Many of the readers did not seem to understand the difference between prounouncing a sentence and individually reading the clauses that made up that sentence, to the degree that some stories were unlistenable.

Seriously, one of them was read in almost-iambec-pentameter, even though the text had nothing to do with such a metric. It was horrible to listen to. Read as text, the story was pretty cool.

The origin of Guen, Bruenor's first kill, Artemis' debut in Calimport, Drizzt getting humbled in Dark Mirror, TWO awesome mini-adventures of Artemis and Jarlaxle...need I say more? It's just plain fun reading and essential to those who want the whole story of this ensemble cast of cool characters.

While these were fun stories, and the Audible version was fantastically read by an awesome cast, it's call "The Legend of DRIZZT" and yet he's only in a couple of the stories!

I would have been much happier if the description had stated outright that this was a collection of stories about other characters.

Ì'm a huge fan os Salvatore's books. Bought this one and unfortunatelly never had the chance to read, since I never received.

Buy a lot of things from the store, and never had any problem. I even bought another book after this one and received without problems.

I was really surprised I couldn't find nowhere to file a claim about my undelivered item.

First let down from a seemless perfect company.

If the store send me a new one, I may write a prioper review.

Don't fall for the "free" version BS. It's nothing but an effing scam. All you get is a link to download the app. Once you have the app you it's nothing but an "opportunity to buy" a subscription. You NEVER get the audio file, just screwed into putting their crap software on your devise. I'm in the market for audio books for my lengthy commute and, hell, I don’t mind paying for quality work, but after this scumbag move I WILL NEVER BUY FROM AUDITABLE.COM, NOT EVER.
