As an R.A. Salvatore fan, I was very interested to see what this book had in store for me. What I found was a story that was inticing and left me wanting more to see what happens to these characters. I think it is fair to say that JTWilliams is a fairly new author and that shows at points in the book, however I felt as if I could feel his aptitude advancing as the story went on and believe he has a lot of potential. I've been reading R.A. Salvatore since 1991 or so, and have very much enjoyed watching his evolution as an author. I hope that I can do the same with JTWilliams into the future! I've already started book 2, and feel like it just keeps getting better!

The book has an interesting story, especially if you're a fan of elves. The pacing is fast. The chapters are a little long. I think there are only 12 or so.
One of my major issues was the grammatical errors. There were way more than I'd expect coming from a bestselling author, even if it was added later. The ending was crazy and unexpected.
I'll keep reading the series.

Kealin, half elf warrior, his two brothers and a sister are sent on a quest to help their god. Their journey is full of fast paced action and magic, dwarves and many amazing creatures. A battle they are not sure they can win. An excellent fantasy read! I highly recommend this book!

I picked this up on wa whim because the book synopsis sounded interesting and I fell in love with the world this author created. It is an amazing story that has some great world building, captivating characters and a story that just draws you in. if you haven't tried this series out, you should. It's really good. I am eager to get book 2 next. I look forward to exploring this author's work more.

A good fantasystory where there is the twist of the mother being @@@@ and this makes evrything change in unexpected ways.
Well paced, well written and if you like Lord of the Rings or Elves, you will probably love this story.

This books takes us on a journey with four brothers who become men with the power to make a difference to save or destroy humanity. There are battles , sacrifices, loss but thru all that there is also growth, strength, love and unity. This books will hold your interest from start to end trying to anticipate the next move . This book was truly amazing. This was my first book I read by this author and plan on reading more. I loved how easily I got caught up into the book that the outside world didn’t exist until I finished reading.

Kaelin with his two brothers and sister rush to fulfill a prophecy by their Shaman. Then unknown forces push them to perform acts which lead to unintended consequences. Can they survive and help the wind God?
The start was very random and so were the acts of the half elfs. There was not much of any character building and everything just happened. The elfs followed random advice from unknown entities resulting in things they didn't intend to happen. Would expect more background and some better storyline.

This is a great book by author J.T. Williams. I love how he builds the world they live in and portrays the characters. The picture in your head will be easy to create and I feel like I'm a character in this book. I love it when author's can immerse you into their books this way.

Into book five of the series which this book set the hook and has had me on the the line since. It is hard to put down know that I am starting to see the depth of each character. I read the author's other series prior to this and now I can say I am beginning to understand the characters role but it can change which is another aspect why I keep reading on

For the reader venturing into the fantasty genre but not the complexity of a 600pg detailed epic this is a good read. A young, for a halfling elf, coming of age with the challenges and losses that come with a world in flux. I enjoyed this book enough to read the second installment as well.

I managed a chapter and a half before giving up. I am not exaggerating when I say that the grammar and sentence structure are abysmal from the very first sentence. Just trying to slog through the poor writing is difficult enough; attempting to discern anything of the characters and setting is even more trying. The author spends nearly zero time introducing either in any meaningful way. Dialog is stilted and dull, making me imagine particularly taciturn Vulcans speaking. It's true that I didn't get far, so you may discount my opinion if you wish. Perhaps it does get better as you go. But I simply had to throw up my hands when the author described a stew as a 'menagerie'.

This was an adventure from first page to last. Fast paced, good characters, and totally enjoyed the elfs/half elfs. This is truly an adventure with evil and good converging in the final pages. A rebel half elf who has been set upon a journey that only he can follow.

I tried, I really did. I kept reading between the lines and adding words that seemed to be left out. I could not follow this story past 30%. The sentences are short and feel incomplete. This book feels like trying to read a rough draft. The story line does not flow smoothly from section to section. It includes a lot of action, but was was not transitioning between the activity.

As I was reading this book I found myself more than confused on the progression. However it was well written and even though I may have been confused I think people who enjoy this genre will love the book.

I had hard time staying committed to this book. If a book feels like work it's probably not well written. The concept was so good I thought if I kept reading it that it might get better. There just isn't any character development or world building. The author has a good imagination if this is his first book I hope he keeps trying. He really needs a good editor to help him out. I only made it to 70 percent and just had to give up at that point. Keep trying.

I cannot even believe anyone could or would give this even a three much less a five. No doubt a fake or paid review that did so.
There are many grammatical errors that make this a hard read. He loses focus and so does his text which is doubly confusing. There is no character development and no real plot at all.

For a short summary, Half bloods was a good book.
The plot was different than what I am used to. I reckon I would classify it as adventure fantasy. I don't think what follows would be considered spoilers but if you worry about such things then simply stick to my first sentence.
You don't really know what ending will hold, for most of the book you seem to only know their goal, their destination. The main characters "purpose," if you will, is revealed within the last 30-50 pages of the book. Not necessarily a bad thing. Mr Williams does a good job keeping things going until the final plot is revealed. The end ties things up nicely but also leaves you wondering what will happen in the next book. I look forward to what the sequel has to offer. Again, overall a good book.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review

Exciting adventure! Amazing start to what promises to be another thrilling series! Magic, dragons, narwhals, gods, elves and Half-Life elves are only some of the enchanted creatures you will encounter in book1! Cannot wait to read book 2 of the Half-Life Elf Chronicles!

I love to read, I love to read new authors and I even enjoy some very poorly written work. This book, made me want to rip my eyes out. It is all over the place. And the plot is just plain dumb. Don't believe the other reviews or waste your time.

This was a great start and I enjoyed reading it. Sorry it took me so long but I had to read and do other things, you know multitasking and the like. The main character was great and he worked for this story. I look forward to reading more of these stories.

This book has such in-depth character by the time you finish the book you feel like you know the characters but you feel like you are still learning about them at the same time. The action and attention to detail is what readers strive to find in any great story but at times are left disappointed this book will not leave you disappointed in any manner except when you reach the end you will have to wait for the next installment of this Adventure. You will not be disappointed in the investment of this of time and money you spend reading this book.
