Have you ever seen rats that can create electrical discharge! Well if it sounds cool to you, then read Mrs.Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by: Robert C. O'Brien! This book is about a widow mouse, whose son falls ill with pneumonia. Mrs.Frisby has to save him by risking her life, walking into an owls nest, and barely escaping a certain death from a cat named Dragon! This book is a Newbery award winner and is best for students in 3rd grade. Trust me, this book is INCREDIBLE!!!!! It will make you read until you're done!

This book review is by Daniel from Virginia.

I thought that this book deserved a 4 star rating. I thought that because the book was great but there were some parts that I thought could have been changed. Like toward the end of the book Mrs.Frisby has gotten captured! That's when I thought that she was going to be able to move her house and Timothy was ok. But I guess not! I never really got bored it just got a little slow at times. but when it did it got more interesting and more, more, more! That's what I like about this book! I highly recommend that if you are a teacher to read this book with your class. I mean what isn't fun with highly intelligent rats. I mean come on that is the best thing ever! And the fact that they can read. They can write, and almost do everything a real person can do. Over all I think this book is the really neat!

Mrs. Frisby, a young widowed mouse, has to move her house from the plow, and get her youngest son timothy better so she can move her family to her summer home. Mrs. Frisby encounters the rats of nimh which help her through her tough times.
If I were you I would read this book. I am sure Mrs.frisby would like It.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of N.I.M.H. by Robert C. O'Brien is a fiction novel and takes place on a farm. The book is about a mouse named Mrs. Frisby and her children Martin, Teresa, Cynthia, and Timothy. In the story Mrs. Frisby's youngest son, Timothy has pneumonia. So, she sets off to find Mr. Ages. On her way home she was almost killed. When she returns home Timothy is asleep. If you want to find out what happens to Timothy you will just have to read this book. If I were to rate this book I would give it five stars.

At first thought it was okay. Then it started to get better and betteras it went on. The story is about a widowed mouse, Mrs. Frisby, and her children,Martin,Teresa,Cindy, and Timothy. Timothy gets very sick during the winter and they have to leave very soon because spring is coming up and the farmer is going to start plowing around their home. They can't leave because Timothy can't be exposed to the cold air. Since all these problems occur all at once it leads to Mrs.Frisby's husband's past with the Rats of NIMH. The ending is totally what I expected.

I can remember my mother talking about this story. I may also have seen the film "The Secret of NIMH" when I was a child. I thought the book was okay and children might enjoy it more, but I think it has an important message about hard work and independence. The idea of rats being manipulated in a lab for more intelligence reminds me of "Planet of the Apes."

When Mrs. Frisby is going on a tour through the rats' cave, she sees a plow and Justin explains "If the ants can do it, Nicodemus says, if the bees can do it so can we...why live without stealing, of course. That's the whole idea, that's the plan."

Near the end Nicodemus is telling a story to Mrs. Frisby and these were some of my favorite lines: "Still it seemed to us that the main reason we were hated must be that we always lived by stealing."

"Millions of years ago, he said, rats seemed to be ahead of all the other animals, seemed to be making a civilization of their own, they were well organized and built quite complicated villages in the fields. Their descendants today are the rats known as prairie dogs. But somehow that didn't work out. The scientists thought maybe it was because the rats' lives were too easy. While the other animals, especially the monkeys, were living in the woods and getting tougher and smarter; the prairie dogs grew soft and lazy and made no more progress."

"Still it was interesting to us that for a while at least the rats had been ahead. We wondered, if they had stayed ahead if they gone on and developed a real civilization what would it have been like?"

"A feeling of discontent settled upon us like some creeping disease. We were reluctant to admit it at first. We tried to ignore the feeling or to fight it off by building more things: bigger rooms, fancier furniture, carpeted hallways, things we did not really need."

"And the worst thing was that even with our make-work projects, we didn't really have enough to do. Our life was too easy."

"We were now stealing more than ever before, not only food but electricity and water. Even the air we breathe was drawn in by a stolen fan run by stolen current. It was this, of course, that made our life so easy that it seemed pointless. We didn't have enough work to do because a thief's life is always based on somebody else's work."

When you no longer have to work for yourself and are dependent on others for your needs, it can lead to laziness and entitlement and even unhappiness. I wish the book had gone more in depth about the relationship between Mr. and Mrs. Frisby. I wonder if she was smarter than the average mouse. It would be very difficult to have a relationship where one partner's intelligence was so much higher. The author died in 1973, but his daughter wrote two sequels. Research published in the March 2013 issue of Cell Stem Cell details the injection of human glial cells into the brains of newborn mice. Upon maturation, the mice were faster learners. My dad's cousin actually married a Mr. Frisbey.

After some consideration, I decided this was my favorite book as a child. However, it can be enjoyed by people of any age. Through mice and other small personified animals, Robert C O'Brien built a tale that is impossible to put down or frown upon. When the youngest of a family of mice falls ill with pneumonia, he is forced to stay indoors. This presents a serious problem, since the family must soon move to their summer home or be plowed by the farmer's tractor who owns the field. The mother and head of the family, Mrs. Frisby, is forced to turn to a mysterious group of rats living under a rose bush for help. What Mrs. Frisby hadn't known, however, was the rats' connection with her late husband Jonathon Frisby...Hopefully, this short summary is intriguing enough to make you read this book. You won't regret it.

Mrs. Frisby and the rats of NIMH written by Robert O'Brien (Aladdin, 1986) is an exceptional book that teaches all children that by working together, miracles can happen. Mrs. Frisby, a mouse widow with a sick child must soon make the move to her summer home, or risk being plowed by Mr. Fitzgibbon as he prepares for spring planting. Unable to move on her own due to Timothy's bout with pneumonia, Mrs. Frisby must find help. This quest for help finds Mrs. Frisby flying on the back of a crow, keeping company with an old owl, discovering the world of the mysterious neighboring rats, and being captured by Mr. Fitzgibbon's son. As if all of these adventures weren't enough, Mrs. Frisby also learns of a secret that her late husband kept from her, detailing his remarkable journey to the Fitzgibbon farm. This significant story will teach any child that help can be found from the most unbelievable of sources, and to never give up hope. Mrs. Frisby's story will stick in the minds of its readers long after the final page has been read.

This story takes place in the end of winter and early spring. The setting was in a farm it's important because it's where the story took place and where things happened.

This book is mostly about a mice named Mrs. Frisby going to a rosebush and getting help from a rat and his group to see if he could move her house to safety. his name was Nicodemus who was going to help her move her house before it gets knocked over. Another thing is that it's also about how the rats escaped form N. I. M. H.

In my opinion this was an A. W. E. S. O. M. E. book. I almost cried and laughed outloud most of the time because it was sad and funny. I would recommend this book because it's a good book and it's a good book report book.

One day, while browsing in the children's section of my local book store, I came across Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. I was a huge fan of the movie The Secret of NIMH as a kid. This was one of those movies that I watched over and over again, driving my parents crazy. I bought this book hoping that my children would love the story as much as I did.
The verdict: We all loved this book. This was my first time reading it as well. I loved the story. Robert O'Brien wrote a fantastic story full of drama. The story line is very intriguing. He takes you on a journey through the eyes of Mrs. Frisby and Nicodemus. Mrs. Frisby's drive to save her son would warm anybody's heart. The story if full of strange and wonderful characters that are very lovable and endearing. We each had our favorite characters that we were cheering for the entire story. My kids also loved the pictures in the book. There weren't a lot but every chapter had at least one scene sketch. I had many hours of enjoyment reading this book to my kids. They enjoyed it as well. So from the adult and from the kids point of view this is definitely a winner.

This book is a really good book about a mouse called Mrs. Frisby. Her son Timothy gets sick and soon it's moving day and Timothy can't walk to the new house. She goes to the owl for advice and he tells her to go to the rats. She goes to the rats and meets Nicodemus the leader of the rats. He tells her the whole story about NIMH, how they got to the place where they are now, and about "The Plan". What is NIMH? What "Plan"? Who is Nicodemus? Read the story and you'll find out. I really, really recommend this book. Enjoy!

This book, 'Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimph', is about a widowed fieldmouse and how she overcomes her problems and finds out about her late husband while trying to help her son escape certain death. Her son is very ill and suffering from a disease. She goes to the doctor, Mr Ages, and he gives her a cure but she needs to get home before sunset when the cat comes out to hunt. On her way back, she finds a crow who later becomes her friend. The crow repays her by bringing her to an owl who tells her to go to the rats under the rosebush at the sound of her name.
She is confused for the rats under the rosebush is known to keep to themselves and do not socialise at all to outsiders. They too treated her as a VIP at the sound of her name and from here, reveals the tale of the rats of NIMPH.
In my opnion, this story is great for everyone. For kids who enjoy animal characters, this is a great book for you. I am now in High School and I think that this book is simply great. At different ages, you see the book at a different point of view but it is amazing how the author can still get his point through to everyone of different ages without creating any doubt. I have read it quite afew times and if you are a Harry Potter fan, you WILL surely enjoy this book.
When she sits in the library and sees all the gleaming objects around her and yet I wonder, "What is NIMPH?" that was the best part when I first read this delightful book!

Young readers would learn about the value of mutual help, adult readers would contemplate with the ideas on technology, modern civilization and the ideas of dependency vis-a-vis autarchy. In the beginning of the story, the readers would feel with the struggle of the widow mouse Mrs. Frisby. In the end, all would be impressed by the wisdom of the rats and the promise of new civilization in the Thorn Valley. My kids and I all believe that Justin must be a handsome rat and we all cried for its possible sacrifice at the end of the story.

our family ( 2 adults and an 11 year old) listened to this on a long car ride, it was a very enjoyable ride. What at first seems like a cute story about a family of rats turns about to be a much deeper story. it is all about choosing to be good, even when it isn't convenient or easy. The story pulls you in and along with just enough excitement to keep you from putting it down. A wonderful gem for the whole family, although maybe too scary for 7 and under.

Mrs. Frisby is a widowed, lady mouse caring for four small children. She faces a dilemma, that is that spring is creeping up on them and she needs to move to her summer home immediately before the plow comes to tear up the garden she and her family live in. They must move straight away or face almost certain death. What makes this so difficult is that her youngest son, Timothy, lies dreadfully ill with pneumonia, and he will not be well in time to make the long journey through the woods, to the stream. Fortunately, she is, after many exciting encounters with other wild animals, able to find a solution to her problem. She seeks help from the rats of NIMH and learns a great deal of their history throughout the book.
This book was quite enjoyable; , it is a winner of the John Newbery Medal. Mrs. Frisby and The Rats of NIMH was full of adventure, sadness, and cheerfulness. But most of all, The Rats of NIMH had a wonderful, intriguing storyline. As you read, you wonder, how could someone think up such a creative, charming, and pleasant, plot? Another thing I enjoyed was how each of the characters was so individual, that you can't help but love each and every one of them.
There was not much to dislike about this novel, except for maybe one thing. That factor being, that mostly the whole book is in dialogue, except for the beginning and the end. This meaning, that during most of the book, it is not extraordinarily descriptive. One more thing that is more of a disappointment then a dislike is that, in the end, the author leaves you hanging, you never find out something that is very important. It is meant to make you crave to know the answer, but you can't have it. I think that that is actually just fine because you then get to make up your own ending.
Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH was one of the absolute greatest books i have ever read. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves adventure and is looking for an exciting book to read. I certainly enjoyed this novel immensely and I hope that I have encouraged you to read it.

Although the movie was wonderful, the book is so much better! Unlike the movie, there is no magic necklace that helps her be courageous. That simple absence gives this story so much more of an opportunity to develop the characters (and there are so many more). The characters are not just limited to vermin and fowl but also envelop the lives of the farmers and the doctors who originally experimented on the animals. There is just so much more going on in this book than what is presented in the movie. This book has no swearing (that I can honestly remember) and is appropriate for any age with decent comprehension. As a parent, it's important to me that my children are not reading fluff. There's no fluff here, just good morals, high adventure, strong parenting, and cause for personal reflection. Enjoy!

I myself have not finshed the book yet, but I intend to ASAP.

The best part of this book is the discriptive words used in every chapter. Reading the words really puts a clear picture in the readers minds. That's why I like the words.

The thing I dislike about this book is where the chapters let off. There really isn't much suspese in the book, but when there is it makes you want to read on forever.

If you don't belive me read the book for yourself!!!! Really, read it!

Back when I was in 6th grade, my teacher read this to the class. Great teacher, great book. That was 20 years ago. There is an animated movie out, and like most all movies, the book is much better. Personally, I don't like to read. With ADD it bores me. But there have been 2 books that I can stick to and read all the way through. This book and the original Bambi (makes the movie crap, book is excellent).

Please get this book for your children, grandchildren, students, yourself. You will enjoy it.

This story takes place in a farm behind a boulder. This setting was picked for this story because Ms. Frisby has a sick son (Timmothy). She also lives with three other children and with no husband

This book is mostly about Ms. Frisby and Timmothy. Ms. Frisby has to find a special group of rats to help her with Timmothy. What Timmothy doesn't know , is Ms. Frisby has a friend which is a crow, an owl , and another group of rats (The Rats of Nimh). Timmothy is sick and has pneumonia.

In my opinion , I like the book and it's very interesting in what happens next. I think this is a very good book. I think this book would rally interest kids in what there reading.

This is one of my favorite books. This science-fiction-adventure story kept me glued to its pages. A fantastic What If book, it is fast paced and spirited. The reader is immediately drawn into Mrs. Frisby's (a widowed mouse) terrifying plight of what to do about moving day (when the farmer starts his plowing) because her youngest son is deathly ill and can't be moved. Mrs. Frisby must search for answers and in the process takes on frightening adventures, discovers "secret worlds," and learns the truth about her late husband. Not to be missed by book lovers!

Timothy is sick. Mrs. Frsiby can't find a cure. Mr. Fitzgibbon is about to plow over their home. The only way
to save their home is to ask the rats. The people of Nimh are looking for the rats. Not all of the characters in this book are who they seem to be. I couldnt stop reading this book after the first chapter. I gave this book 4 stars because i thought that it had a great story and never found it boring at any point. I think that anyone could read this book and still enjoy it. Don't think that it's a book for little kids! Read this book!!!!!!!!

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is a book by Robert C. O'Brien. The story is about a mouse whose son has gotten sick and can't get out of bed, but moving day is coming. She goes to the rats for help but the story takes a turn and she also helps the rats. The book is pretty good because animals act like humans, but you have to do a lot of reading to understand what's going on.

The story takes place in Mr. Fitzgibbon's yard at the end of winter beginning of spring. Mrs. Frisby and her family live in his yard in a stone block. This story starts out with moving day coming in a couple of weeks and Timothy can't get out of bed because he has pneumonia. Mrs. Frisby has to go and search for help and find a way to move and keep Timothy well at the same time. Mrs. Frisby is a brave little mouse who is willing do anything for her children no matter what the risks are. While Mrs. Frisby is out, she finds a crow named Jeremy tangled up in a piece of yarn and tries to free him while a cat is coming. Then Jeremy gives Mrs. Frisby a ride to the wise owl - even though she is petrified of heights. Once they get to the wise owl's home she has to talk to him and hope he doesn't eat her. When all this is over, she has to go meet the rats for the first time and try to convince the rats to help her with her serious problem. A couple of the rats are also very important in this story, such as the leader Nicodemus, and the captain of the guards, Justin. Timothy is also an important character; he is the one who starts the whole story. Also, the wise owl is important, for Mrs. Frisby wouldn't have gotten anywhere if it wasn't for him. This book shows that education can set you free and with bravery you can accomplish anything. Mrs. Frisby learns both and knows they are both equally important.

One of the things that stood out to me was the characters. They were determined and went out and try to solve their problems. For example, because Timothy was sick Mrs. Frisby went to the owl for help.

Another thing that stood out for me was the theme "with bravery you can accomplish anything". This stood out for me when Mrs. Frisby and the rats had to use bravery to get things accomplished. For example, Mrs. Frisby went to Mr. Age's house to go get help for Timothy. It was getting dark and there was a dangerous cat, but she went anyway.

I would recommend this book to people who like a very clear explanation. The book is very exciting but it gives a very detailed explanation about some things. When it talks about something you have to do a lot of reading of that one thing to understand it. Overall, I liked the book. It was very interesting to read about the rats and Mrs. Frisby and the way the story relates to real life. This book shows how to face your fears and how hard it is to do anything under pressure. This book is great to read if you are having trouble with facing your fears.

This is a great book about a rat civilization. It is interesting because it is written like it is in the future even though it was written thirty years ago. It gives specific details that make it more exciting and has a terrific plot that keeps you hanging until the book is finished. Mrs. Frisby will do anything to keep young Timothy alive for moving day. The rats come up with a couragous and generous plan to get Mrs. Frisby and her family to shelter. A great book, especially for fans of Redwall by Brian Jacques. I recommend it for grades four and up.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH

This book is called Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH and is written by Robert C. O'Brien. This story is about a mouse called Mrs. Frisby trying to move her house so her family doesn't die. I think this book is pretty good because I could picture things in my head and I found it fun and interesting.

This story takes place at the very end of February in Mr. Fitzgibbon's field. Mrs. Frisby lives in the field. She is a very brave widow and she isn't afraid to face challenges. The story starts with Mrs. Frisby having to move her house. Every year there is a moving day, but this year Timothy was sick with pneumonia and can't get out of bed. There are some complications in this book. First, Mr. Fitzgibbon is going to plow. Second, because Mr. Fitzgibbon is going to plow, Mrs. Frisby has to move in five days. Third, Mrs. Frisby has to go to the owl for help because she doesn't know what to do. Fourth, the owl says if she wants to move her house she has to go see the rats of NIMH. Fifth, Mrs. Frisby goes to the rats and they can help her move the house following a plan. I would say that Justin and Nicodemus, both rats, were other important characters in this book because they were the ones that planned to move her house. The theme of the book is bravery because with bravery it becomes easier to accomplish your goals.

One thing that really stood out for me was how much it reminded me of real life. This stands out for me because all the things mice and rats do in the book are impossible for an actual animal to do. For example, when the book said, "with her forepaws and sharp teeth she pulled off a part of the husk form the top ear of corn and folded it double to serve as a crude carrying bag."

Another thing that really stands out about this book is the style (the way its written). This stands out to me because I like the way the author gives a specific example, when he said, "Mrs. Frisby peered anxiously at his face, and would have looked at his tongue, but in the dark room she could not see no more than the dim outline of his head."

I would recommend this book to everyone because the book is all about different adventures with only one problem. It's really cute and funny because of the expression the writer puts into any phrase.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh is a wonderful book in my opinion! Something that makes it exciting is that it uses personificatioin. Which makes it more interesting because you can compare problems that animals face with proplems that may be easier for humans to solve. At some points it was very suspenseful, especially at the end of chapters. Sometimes I always wanted to read ahead. The book also expresses love, family, and trust for each other. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O'Brien. Mrs. Frisby a widow mouse and her four children must move to their summerhouse, but one of her children is too sick to get out of bed. I think this is a pretty good book because the author made the story so real that you could picture the rats and mice as humans doing the things they do.

This story takes place at Mr. Fitzgibbon's garden, at the end of winter. Mrs. Frisby lives in Mr. Fitzgibbon's garden. She is a very brave mouse. She is very caring. This story begins with Mrs. Frisby finding out that her son is sick, so she goes to Mr. ages who is a doctor mouse. Mr. Ages gives Mrs. Frisby medicine, but tells her that her son isn't strong enough and can't breathe any cold air or he will die. When Mrs. Frisby was going home from Mr. Ages, she meets Jeremy, a crow who was stuck on a fence. She helps Jeremy to get out of the fence and Jeremy becomes her friend. When Mrs. Frisby gets home she discovers that she only has a week to move, so she tells her problem to Jeremy. Jeremy tells Mrs. Frisby to go the Owl for advice. The Owl tells Mrs. Frisby to go the rats for help. The rats tell Mrs. Frisby about her husband. Mrs. Frisby goes to poison Dragon. Another important character in this book is Dragon. Dragon is Mr. Fitzgibbon's cat that is always hunting the rats and mice.

One thing that stood out to me was the theme. Education sets you free was the theme of this story and it was very important. For example, the rats read books that told them about the human civilization and so the rats got their idea of making their civilization.

Another thing that really stood out to me was the character. The characters always help each other whenever they are in trouble. For example, when they were getting out of the hole the rat saw that another rat couldn't get out so he went back to help him.

I would recommend this book to everyone. It was interesting to know that other animals besides humans could have a civilization. Also, it was interesting to learn that it only takes one person to ruin your plans. It made me realize that animals could sometimes be like humans.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH Book Review

The story "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" is by Robert C. O' Brien. This story is about how Mrs. Frisby helps her sickened son, Timothy, get better and what predicaments she encounters when she goes to the rats who are smarter than any rats before. I think this book was excellent because of the mix of character personalities, the action, and suspense of the story.

This story takes place in the present day, in the end of winter on Mr. Fitzgibbon's farm near some mountains. Mrs. Frisby lives in a cinder block with her family near Mr. Fitzgibbon's farm. Mrs. Frisby is the protagonist; she is the wife of dead Jonathan Frisby, and is a very caring mouse. Where she lives the plough is going to run over their home, but Timothy can't move because he is sick. Some events in the story are: Timothy's sickness, going to the wise owl, going to the rats, the rats live and learn in NIMH, and the seven rats die. Some other important characters in the story are Nicodemus, Jonathan, Justin, Jenner, Brutus, and Arthur. Even though it is hard to be brave Mrs. Frisby's escapade turns out several ways. It shows that you need to be brave even though you're afraid.

One thing that really stood out for me was the style of the book, and the way it's written. This thing stood out to me because the similes and the suspense in the book gave really detailed, vivid descriptions and gives feeling to the story. An example of this is "It was not really a floor at all, but only the jagged ends of dead wood sticking up from below, like stalagmites in a cave. . ."

Another thing that stood out was the mood. This really stood out because the mix of different feelings (sadness, happiness, suspense, anger) made the story lively and enjoyable. An example of this is "Perfectly healthy, thought Mrs. Frisbee sadly, except for being dead.

I would highly recommend reading this book, but only to people who enjoy fantasy stories. I would recommend this because this thought-provoking fantasy engages your mind and contains a varied mixture of writing styles such as similes, and various moods.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh/

Book review

The story Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh was written by Robert C. O'Brien. This story is about a mother mouse named Mrs. Frisby. When her son Timothy gets sick with a big fever she has to face different problems to get the rats to help her move her house, so that she doesn't have to get Timothy out of bed and make him move to their summer home. Just to take the risk of him dying. I think this is an excellent story because it has so much action and so many animals.

This story takes place at a farmhouse around springtime. The protagonist is Mrs. Frisby. Her connection to the setting is that Mrs. Frisby lives by the farmhouse. She was the wife of Jonathan who was a mouse that went to Nimh. The introduction to the plot was that Mrs. Frisby's son Timothy got sick right before moving day. Also, food for Mrs. Frisby's family is scarce. A cat named Dragon is going to come out when Mrs. Frisby needs to go to Mr. Ages's house to get medicine for Timothy, while she is out she meets a silly crow named Jeremy who is stuck in something shiny. Jeremy tells her about the rats of Nimh and the owl. But the owl doesn't want to talk to her because the owl doesn't know who she is. Once Mrs. Frisby tells the owl the owl listens to her. Other Important characters in the book were Jonathan, Mr. Fitzgibbon, Justin, Nicodemus and Jeremy. The theme was that you need to have courage, trust and education for just about everything.

One thing that stood out to me was the theme because you need to have education for everything. For example, Justin wouldn't be able to get out of his cage if he didn't have education.

Another thing that stood out to me was the mood because it was a half funny half-adventure type book. For example, the rats have to explore through the air ducts.

I would definitely recommend this book to everyone because it's an amazing book with so much action and also I loved it.

In this novel the story is being told from an animal's view. The character who tells the story is a female mouse named Mrs. Frisby. Mrs. Frisby needs to move her family from their home in the corner of the Fitzgibbon farm to a safe place, but her youngest son Timothy has pneumonia and cannot be moved. After talking to Mr. Ages another mouse about the problem, she follows her advice and enlists the help of some unusual neighbors, the rats who have escaped from the National Institute of Mental Health. With their help, she and her family are able to escape the farming and the Fitzgibbon cat, and find a new home. In addition, she learns what happened to her husband and to the animals who were part of the experiments at NIMH. The main character in this novel is Mrs. Frisby who is a widowed mouse with four small Children. Her youngest son Timothy lies ill with pneumonia until the end of the novel when he eventually recovers. Then comes Martin who is Timothy's brother, the biggest and strongest mouse. After Martin comes Cynthia who is a slim pretty girl mouse and then the last member of the Frisby family is Teresa the oldest and smartest of the children. The characters in this novel did not only come from the Frisby family, there were also many others who contributed to the saviour of Mrs. Frisby's son Timothy, and her house. There were the extraordinary breed of highly intelligent rats who moved Mrs. Frisbys house. The two main rats were Justin who saved the life of Mrs. Frisby when she was captured by the Fitzgibbon family and Nicodeumous who was the leader of the rats who made all the decisions for the colony. Also there was another mouse named Mr. Ages who gave Mrs. Frisby the medicine that saved the life of Timothy and Jeremy the crow who was a good form of transport for Mrs. Frisby The major threat to all of these characters was the cat named Dragon who belonged to the Fitzgibbon family who were the owners of the farm. The characters in the novel were very interesting and they had believable personalities. During the reading of the novel you got to know the characters and by the end you were very interested into what happens to them. Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH emphasizes the issue of friendship in a unique and wonderful perspective. Farm rodents and animals become interconnected in a web of friendship which grows and strengthens throughout the novel. The common issue of friendship is also connected to additional issues such as survival and cooperation. The variety of the characters who help one another in the struggle to save Mrs. Frisby's house and her young son Timothy proves this issue. The author also reminds us of the dangers of genetic tampering, and points out the similarities between both rat and human species when it comes to issues like theft, power, struggle, greed, courage, faith and hope. Mrs. Frisby and the rats of NIMH was a wonderful, clearly creative, and thought about book. The idea of making rats super-intelligent through injections is a great concept. It has a great storyline and it lets you get right into the book and the characters. It is also a book that will keep you in suspense. The story is fantasy at its best and it is extremely thought-provoking. My favourite part of the book was when Nicodemus gives a description of the rats life at NIMH and their eventual escape. I give this book a four and a half out of five rating because the characters were very interesting and the book was descriptive and imaginative. I would highly recommend Mrs. Frisby and the rats of NIMH for people of all ages because it is a sad tale of adventure that you will remember forever.

This is when the good part comes up! i'll give you a tast of it, she meets birds, rats, and Dragon the mean cat of the farmers and the most interensting part is that the rats have a secert, but you have to figure that part by yourselve! I hope you injoy the book. Have fun!

This is one of the best books i've ever read! If my teacher would not have made it an assignment I would have never read it. Mrs. Frisby's son, Timothy gets pneumonia. She has to help him so she gets some medicine from Mr.Ages, but he still has to stay in bed. But Mr.Fitzgibbon is going to plow and Mrs.Frisby's house is in the way! She gets sent to the rats of NIMH by the owl and they help her move her house so it won't get plowed. At the end Timothy gets better and they move. If you love books, then you will surely love Mrs.Frisby and the Rats of NIMH.

Robert C. O'Brien is the author of the book Mrs. Frisby and Rats of NIMH. It's about that she has to move her house to another place before the farmer will plow the field, but it's difficult because the son of Mrs. Frisby, called Timothy fell sick on a certain day. I think it's a good book because they find a way to move the house and Mrs. Frisby makes a lot of friends in this book.

This story takes place at the end of the winter on a farmyard. Mrs. Frisby is very smart and friendly to other people and she also helps other people when they are in trouble. The story starts with that her son Timothy is sick and the problem is that they have to move their house because the farmer is going to plow the field.

The first complication is that she has to find help to know what she has to do for escaping from the plow. Then she has to figure out who is going to help her and how to move house. Then she meets the rats and they want to help her but she has to do dangerous things to move her house. There is much courage in the story and cooperation.

The thing that really stood out for me was the theme. The theme is courage will help you reach your goals. The theme was important because there was much courage and there were many choices to make. They needed much courage to escape from the lab and to put the powder in the food of Dragon.

Another thing that really stood out to me were the characters because they were all animals and they could speak. Mrs. Frisby is a mouse and Jeremy is a bird. They could speak with each other and because of that they could communicate.

I would recommend this story to everyone. There are many themes and strengths. Also, some parts are very good and exciting.

I have been a teacher of 4th graders for 13 years and I still have yet to find a child who has not loved this story. We read it as a class novel. The vocabulary is difficult and the story requires lots of discussion, but all the work is worth it. A great way to end the school year. This is one of the few Newbery Award winners kids actually like. Would also make a great read aloud. The video 'Secret of Nimh' is enjoyable, but not really true to the story. My students do enjoy it; however.

I absolutly loved this book as a child, it was so facinating. Mr. O'Brien had the most wonderful imagination. The story is well paced and the characters are unforgettable. The story deals with mature issues like death and lose in a very profound way and it touches the reader deeply. This book has stayed with me since the first day I read it and I still have it on my shelf. It is always one of the first childrens book I recommend, though there are many wonderful childrens books, this is without question one of the classics of the genre. READ THIS BOOK

I really liked this book a lot because it's very intresting. I found that I could really get into it. There is a lot of action to keep you reading and it just gets better and better. The main character, Mrs. Frisby, has a lot of courage. She saves a crow, she sits in an owl's nest, and she goes to visit the rats. She does all of this for her son Timothy who is very sick. The mice need help moving their house or else they will get crushed and die. I really liked this book and I would strongly recommend this to other readers my age.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is an adventurous, suspenseful book. Mrs. Frisby has four children. Timothy, one of the children, gets sick and has to stay in bed. Meanwhile, Moving Day is coming up and Timothy can't move. What are they going to do? Are they going to move or stay put and die? This book is an awesome book and a surprise awaits on every page. I rate this book five stars, because it's a great book and I think lots of people will like it once they read it.

Mrs.Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, written by Robert C. O'Brien, is a good book that I would give a rating of 3 or 3.5.

This book is good but at age 12, I think I am a little old for it. I think this book would be good for children aged 7-11 years of age. It would make an even better classroom read aloud or parent to child read aloud. Some parts are hard to understand but all in all it is a very good book. But I am sure that young children will love this book, but I certainly injoyed this easy read book.

Some of my most vivid childhood memories were the times when my father would read Mrs. Frisby to me. I have read this wonderful story many times since my childhood. To this day I can not put down this face paced, and amazing book about Mrs. Frisby's adventures. I have even been fortunate enough to read this book to my class of sixth graders at Ventura Elementary School in Portland, Oregon. Every parent should take the time to read their child to sleep with Mrs. Frisby.

When Mrs. Frisby, the farm mouses son is kidnapped and taken away to NIHM, it is up to her to do whatever it takes to get him back. She goes to desperate measures, meeting interesting new characters all along the way. The story relates to real life in many ways; overcoming obstacles and doing whatever it takes for the one you love.

When I read this book, I was in the third grade, and I loved it. It has since been reccomended for older grades, but I think third is a perfect year to read it. It is written for younger children to understand, and at the same time keeps the readers full attention.

I loved this book. It is definetely one of my favorites.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh was the best book I have ever read. I first was doing this for a project, but when I read the book I knew it would be more than a project. It was a page-turner all the time. I think they should make a book of the second movie. The one where Martin, Timothy's brother, becomes evil. Timothy eventually saves him. My fav. part of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh was when.... wait a minute, the whole book was my favorite. SO... UNTIL NEXT TIME BYE

Classroom Review from 9 year old -

"I think kids around the world would enjoy reading Mrs. Frisby and the rats of NIMH. In the story Timothy Frisby is sick and moving day is near. Mrs. Frisby gets medicine for Timothy and Mr. Ages; the doctor says Timothy must stay inside for 3 weeks. But, moving day is in 5 days! Mrs. Frisby needs all the help she can get. She sees an owl, quite a few rats that she just now finds out her husband used to work with and tries to move just in time. Will she be successful? Read the book to find out.
The things I liked in the story was: there was a big problem and Mrs. Frisby meets creatures she had never known before. Also, the book contains a story told by one of the characters. The story that is told tells about injections that make some rats high-tech and very smart. I loved the way the story ended with some bravery, thoughtful ideas and happiness. My favorite part in the book is when Mrs. Frisby sees the rats of NIMH and sees all the electricity, and all the stuff that the rats are building, using, eating etc. I loved the book: Mrs. Frisby and the rats of NIMH."

Nice Job Big E - Sounds like you enjoyed the book. LOL Dad.

The story Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIHM is by Robert C. O' Brian. This story is about Mrs. Frisby, a mother mouse, who needs to move her house. She can't do it alone so she goes and asks for help from the rats. I think this book is pretty good because it's really mysterious.

This story takes place in modern times at Mr. Fitzgibbon's farm. Mrs. Frisby lives on the farm. She is a very brave and smart mouse. The story starts when Timothy, her son, gets sick and it's nearly moving day. Mrs. Frisby needs to move her house because they're going to plow the field, and if she doesn't move her house, it will be destroyed. Mrs. Frisby goes to Mr. Ages to see if he can heal Timothy. Mrs. Frisby needs help moving the house, so she goes to the owl to ask for help, and he tells her to go to the rats. Mrs. Frisby goes to the rat's home, and she learns where the rats came from, NIMH.

One thing that really stood out for me was the characters. Most of the characters were brave to do what they did in the story. Mrs. Frisby, for example, was brave to go to the rats.

Another thing that really stood out for me was the theme. I think cooperation is really important. The mice, for example, cooperated with the rats to get out of NIHM.

I would recommend this story to everyone. This book is a mystery, but it is also very sad. The characters in this book show cooperation and bravery.

I read this book as well as its two sequels. All three were very good, although these books definately should be read in order. This book is about a mouse (Mrs. Frisby) whose home is a brick in the garden. Spring's coming, and they have to move to their nice home by the stream, but Mrs. Frisby's youngest son is too sick to move to another home. So, with the help of a crow and an old mouse friend, she enlists the help of the amazingly strong and smart rats of NIMH.

How would you like to be a rat living on a farm during harvest time, and on top of that you have a sick child. In the fictional adventure by Robert C. O'briens Newberry award winning novel, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh. In this book Mrs. Frisby goes to desperate measures to get help and to move her house so it won't get hit by the trackter. If you like adventure and survival, you should read this book.
This book is full of adventure and witty humor. it is a fictional novel that is mostly about survival as Mrs. Frisby, a widowed mother, tries to find a way to move her house without having to make her son Timothy, who is very sick, come out of the house into the cold. So she goes out looking for help and finds it in a group of super-smart mice that escaped from a laboratory named the Rats of Nimh. This pack of lab rats devise a plan to move Mrs. Frisby's house.
This novel is for young adults from the age of 9 to 15 years. This is because the story talks about death, some humor kids might not understand. There is also one point of violence where the farmers cat, Dragon, attacks the rats. Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh, has some parts where teens will like, in some of the witty plans the rats come up with to move the Frisby household.
This book is written in third person. It has Mrs. Frisby whos husband died and was left to take care of her children. When moving day comes her son Timothy gets very sick and can't go outside or his condition might get worse and he could die. So she gets help in the Rats of Nimh and they come up with a plan.

Mrs. frisby is a widow mouse whose son Timothy gets sick. But that's not all. They live in a field and every spring, Mr. Fitzgibbon, the farmer, plows their field and they have to move out. They tell her that behind the rosebush there are a group of rats that might help her. Or will they?

It was a good book. It showed how important bravery is, even for a mouse. When her son is sick and can't move, Mrs. Frisby does'nt give up. Timothy Frisby (her son) has two chioces: stay in his bed and get ran over by the farmer's plow or go out of their house and have his pneumonia get worse and kill him. Mrs. Frisby even asks an owl for advice. This is a very good story; full of action and suspense and I think anyone would like it.

I read this as a kid sometime before the movie was made of it. It was the first novel I had ever read through, and I was so captivated by it that I read it all at once, it keeping me up until dawn. It is very intellectually engaging, I think, as a novel for young readers. The whole story of the rats becoming smart is thought through and developed in the way of good science fiction. And the characters handle their problems in realistic ways, with the practical consequences of courage, cowardice, etc. playing out.

Mrs. Frisby is forced to seek help, leading her to the all but ordinary Rats of NIMH. This fictional adventure is perfect for capturing the attention of any reader nine years of age or older. Although the story is written from the view of fictional farm animals the reader is pulled into the suspenseful plot and is easily drawn into the emotions of each character. Not only is the book enjoyable to read, it is good for the classroom teacher. It conveys lessons on qualities like friendship, bravery, and teamwork. I think that from the book Mrs. frisby and the Rats of NIMH, you can learn so many lessons and values, like hard work, not being lazy and bravery. Parents, aunts, uncles or grandparents looking to give the gift of literature to kids in that tricky age bracket (9-13) should know that this book is a surefire winner, despite its bizarre title (it has nothing at all to do with frisbees). It is a complex and nuanced novel that never condescends to its readers, but contains such a vivid and well-conceived adventure (about rats who must reckon with their low rank in the great chain of being after gaining remarkable intelligence) that it is sure to interest them from start to finish. Although less familiar than, say, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, O'Brien's book has all the skill and twice the pathos of Dahl's. I am a doctoral candidate in English literature, and I still occasionally return to Mrs. Frisby, just to buoy my spirits.

I fell in love with this story in 1979...I was six. I recently reread this book and enjoyed it just as much. The characters are all live and three dimensional and this "children's book" has a depth that I find lacking in some of more recently published adult fiction. I thought Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh was a great book. It was exciting and creative, but I felt it lacked action. I admit it was very exciting at parts, but some were very boring. I really like the plot of this story, and it is kind of sad at the end of the story. Also, you couldn't wait to find out w;hat happens at parts. So, that is why I gave this children's book a 4/5.

Do you like danger, action, suspense, and adventure? Then come and read this book! Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh has an interesting plot and interesting subplots. The main plot is that Timothy Frisby is extremely ill, and his mother(Mrs. Frisby, obviously) goes to find help. Fortunately she meets the rats of NIMH, highly intelligent rats. Will they find a solution to her problem?

This book Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is a good book with great charactors in it and little funny parts along the way. It keeps you guessing along the way and has some suspenseful moments. I would recommend it for grades fourth through maybe seventh. This book teaches a good lesson for people of the ages 9-12. If you like little animals that talk you will like this book.

This is the story about Mrs. Frisby and her family's struggle to stay safe. It's almost moving time when little Timothy falls sick. Mrs. Frisby was recently widowed, so she has to overcome her fears to get her son well and keep her family safe. She saves a crow named Jeremy, who in turn brings her to the wise old owl. O'Brien's description of Mrs. Frisby's flight to the owl makes a child feel like they are going for a ride too. The owl leads her to the rats of NIHM. When they find out that Mrs. Frisby is the wife of one of their old pals, they are more than happy to help her out. Mrs. Frisby learns many things about her husband that she had not known before.
This is a good book for children to read because they like reading about animals that talk. It also teaches them good lessons about life: the importance of family and the necessity of overcoming fears. Mrs. Frisby is terrified when she is captured in the Fitzgibbon's home, but she stays calm, and ends up helping out the rats of NIHM. AA child can laugh at all of the obstacles that Mrs. Frisby overcomes, but also realize that they too can overcome their obstacle is they keep trying. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to relax, enter the world of fantasy, and have a good laugh. Whether young or old, anyone can enjoy this book.

This morning my 11 year old daughter came to me and told me that she has to read a book for a report at school and she was not too thrilled becasue she is not a good "reader". I immediately knew the book for her....Mrs. Frisbee and the Rats of NIMH. This book was read to my class when I was in the 3rd grade (I am 45 now) and I remember going to school sick one day because I just could not miss hearing the next chapter! This book sparked my imagination and I can still see the "scenes" inmy mind. I cannot wait to read this with my daughter....this is my all time favorite book and the only book that I recall reading as a child.

This book talks about a group of rats and mice that never give up. They all work together, and care about each other. Mrs. Frisby, the main character, makes new friends that no one would think of. I recently read this book with my struggling readers. I was amazed at how quickly they took to the book. Kids seem to love the magic and familiarity of Mrs. Frisby's plight. The characters are amazing and the story is exciting. At the end, readers are left with inspiration and the promise of a sequel which also may be an unforgettable reading adventure.

This book is a gem. No wonder it won the Newberry award (the Pulitzer for kid's lit.). It is an ideal read-aloud book, too: it has great phrasing and encourages of a bit of "ham" in the reader. I really enjoy Robert o'Brien books. I really enjoyed this book because I really liked how Mrs. Frisby helped the rats through the duct work. It must be frustrating for her, and how she helped the rats move her house. If you like rats or mice this is a book for you!! Oh yea the main thing that is the problem is that Mrs. Fribsy has to move her house before Spring.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. By A 7th Grader!

The beginning of the story tells how Timothy is sick. Mrs. Frisby goes to Mr. Ages to get medicine. But Timothy shouldn't get out of hid bed until he is feeling better. The problem is that moving day is in 5 days.
When moving day comes Timothy isn't any better. When the plow comes they get Timothy just in time. Then they all move to their new home.
My opinion of this book is that this book is ok because, it's kinda my type of book I would read. This book had a lot of adventure in it which I liked. One part of the book that was adventurous was when, Mrs. Frisby moved to a new home.
I rate this book a ****
I rated this book a 4 because it was ok. The book was ok because, the book had a lot of adventure, the problem is that Im not into rats/ animals books. The rats just basically took care of each other, at the same time they were trying to move.

I'm a fourth grader, and I think this is a great book in which a widow mouse risks her life more than six different times so the strange rats on the farm will save her family from being crushed by a plow in their home in a field because her sick son can't leave his bed.Read this book to find out how Mrs.Frisby risks her life, and what's so strange about the rats.

I purchased this book as my niece is in grade 6 and this is their English set book. We both read the book together, I found extremely educational. Many day to day life lessons like when Mrs Frisby goes looking for help for moving how the Owl and rats helped her. How society uses test labs to test products on animals. I know we all don't share same views but this equips children with some understanding of why testing is done and they can choose if they agree with animal testing or not. An absolutely well written book. I did find the electronic version some text or sentences differ from hard copy but nothing major. Great book a must to read

My mother read this to me when I was a child. I have just finished reading it to my son, who is eight years old. We both enjoyed it. It starts slowly but draws you into the world of Mrs Frisby. When the rats enter, the story takes off. It is a classic that still entertains and makes you think. A good read, wonderfully written.

I really enjoyed this adventure story about clever rats who even had their own electricity for their well-organized, peaceful little community which coexists without the human's knowledge. They have almost everything they need except medicine for a very sick little mouse so that is where the quest comes in. Find out what dangers threatens their existence. If you enjoyed Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh also read The Borrowers by Mary Norton.

There was a mouse family in a cinder block on the Fitzgibbon's farmyard. Mrs. Frisby was a widow with 4 kids, Tim, Martin, Cynthia, Treasa. Tim, her youngest son was a hypochondriac but he had a serious pneumonia. Mr. Ages, Mrs. Frisby's husband's friend, helped Tim with a medicine to help him. Mrs. Frisby asks the Owl for advice about the Moving Day. Owl tells Mrs. Frisby to go to the Rats in the rosebush. Mrs. Frisby finds out all about NIMH and that Jonathan Frisby, her husband, who died, was their friend. The rats (special rats who can read and are smart as humans), helped her move her cinder block house to the lee of the stone.
My opinion on this book is that it was pretty good but the book needs more actions. In the movie, it was more full of actions then the book. But the movie was less detailed about what really happened as it did in the book. The beginning of this book is rather boring. The movie was really different from the book on the ending.
I rate this book 3 stars out of 5 because it was a good book but it wasn't the best book i've read. some parts were boring in the book and movie had less details.

This review by I, Professor Emeritus Johnstone, is perhaps the best review you will ever read on this web-site. Mrs. Frisbee and the Rats of NIMH is an important literary soiree for all ages, but most especially young scalawags of the collegiate variety. As you know, I, Professor Emeritus Johnstone, teach these youthful scamps American Literature (one of the most difficult classes, I assure all you future learners!). Now, dear readers, I must recommend that anyone interested in taking American Literature at the collegeiate level should indubitably read this fine novel. It brings all the most important elements of literature together-namely adventure, appeal to all ages, and rodents. Also, their is an element of truth to the novel. Although government stooges may try to cover this up, I, Professor Emeritus Johnstone, know that the Rats of NIMH do exist! You sceptic fools say I am jesting, that I am a stooge myself, but this is not so! You forget, I am Professor Emeritus of American Literature! Thank our Maker Master O'Brian brought these true stories to light in a college-level text.

Sincerely,

--Professor Emeritus Percy Q. Johnstone

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. The only reason for this is there was some chapters that I don't think were really worth putting in there, I also think that this book was a bit too long for me. The good side to this book is that it will always keep you eager to see what will happen next.

One of the great delights of returning, in adulthood, to the literature that enchanted us in childhood is
the discovery of the great themes and subtexts to which we were oblivious then but which are so
obvious now. Mrs. Frisby is a perfect illustration of this phenomenon. When you are young you are
captivated by the animal adventure tale and your easy identification with the lowly mice.
But read it now and you realize the Biblical antecedents of the story, how the rats of NIMH, like Man,
are given the gift of knowledge by their creators and how this awakens in them a sense of morality.
We recall that the rats have determined to go off and live on their own, but it's all too easy to forget,
or never to notice, that the reason for their decision is that they are determined not to live by stealing.
Seeing clearly this additional component, that the rats have become moral creatures, makes their
struggle even more heroic and adds a depth to the story that makes it easy to see why this novel has
endured and struck a chord with readers, young and old, for some thirty years now. It is an altogether
deserving classic.
GRADE : A+

It was ok but Mrs.Frisby and the Rats of NIMH isn't something that I usually read. It was a great book and I suggest people should check it out. And I liked how they put it in the animals point of view instead of just narrating. This is called personification. So if you're into those kinds of books check it out.

I read this book as a kid, and now I'm reading it aloud to my children, ages 8 and 6. They are both captivated by it and loudly complain when it is time to put the book down. There is no need to re-hash the plotline of the book as many other reviewers have, but I did want to mention that it seems age appropriate as a read-aloud book to those ages, we sometimes encounter words and phrases that I have to explain to them, but it's not constantly.

Mrs. Frisby is a widowed mouse who lives in a garden. Mrs. Frisby also has a sick child who cannot be moved. Now anyone who lives in the garden knows, you must be out of the garden before plowing begins. Mrs. Frisby must turn to the Rats of Nimh for help. Mrs. Frisby soon finds out the rats have extraordinary intellegence. She not only finds a solution to her problem but is also able to help the rats with their problem. By working together all of the animals on the farm get what they need.

I was recommended this novel by a teacher from Australia. We were looking for a science fiction style of genre and it seemed to suit, although one look at the front cover and some of my Yr 6 boys looked horrified.

It took some perservence to get over the cutesy feel to the start of the story, but having just finished it, even the hardest of my 11 year olds were totally absorbed and really liked it. We were able to have some interesting discussions about morals eg stealing. My one criticism was the long and rather tedious way that the middle part of the novel was told by Nicodemus to Mrs Frisby.

I would recommend this book to mystery readers. You must have the skill to put things together for you to truly understand the book. I think the best part of the book is the flow and subtly of the chapters. The story never goes off-topic and every big word had meaning. Another prominent feature of this book is its way of describing its characters. From the most important character to some of the least, each character is given a good description so you know exactly what the character is like. I would recommend this book, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh, mainly to mystery readers, as I believe they would enjoy the book the most.

Our teacher made us read this book as a novel study, and I can say that it was an interesting read. Though it is interesting, the plot seems to simple for older children. I'd recommend it for children ages 9-11. Nicodemus's story of the rats escape takes up a lot of the story. If you are interested in animals I recommend this for you. This book in a wonderful fantasy! Who would have thought how far a community of labratory rats could go? The author does a wonderful job of creating a realistic scene, and while we all know the rats (in real life) are incapable of performing such tasks, he provides a very realistic element. I believe the theme of this book, illustrates a sense of accomplishment, it will show the reader where there is desire, a goal can be accomplished.

When she goes to the rats they say they can't help her but then she tells them that she is Jonathen Frisby's wife then they say they will help her. When they are going to move her house she has to go in the farmers house and put sleeping powder in the cats bowl so he cant attack the rats but while she was doing that she got caught by the son of the farmer. She gets put in a cage and kept there until one of the rats come and save her. Then it goes on, it is and ok book you should try to read.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH was a fun and exciting book! I think Robert C. O' Brien, the author, had a lot of imagination. When we read this book in our class I coudn't wait until we read the next chapter. I told my dad so much about the book that he went out and read it too! "It was a delightfully entertaining and thought-provoking story," he says. I think that if you haven't read this book yet you are missing out on a great story!

This was my five year olds first real chapter book and she loved it! I remembered reading it as a kid and it was awesome to hear it from her point of view. The movie on the other hand was so disappointing! It was really sad that they strayed so far from the original story which was good as it was.

I thought it was a great book! When you read the book you do not wan't to put it down. If you look at the cover,it dosen't look all that great, but when you read you are happy you are reading it. My favorite character in the book is Justin. One bad thing that happened is here son had pnemonia and she heard that a tractor is coming and if they don't leave their home before the tractor comes. But Mrs.Fisby's son can't move because he is very sick. And that is just one of the problems she has to face!

I could not find fault with this book. Its characters are indelible, its pacing is swift, its plot turns are natural and riveting, and its underlying themes and messages are as intelligent as they are profound.

I look forward to having kids just so I can read them this book! That's the only reason!

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh is a great book. Nimh stands for National Institute of Mental Health. The book is not too long and not too short. I never got bored. This book is exciting and interesting. It is fun to see what the rats do next and how they would do it. After I read this book, I felt different about rats because they were injected with a chemical that makes them smart. If you want to find out more READ THIS BOOK

If you like adventure, fun, and rats that talk to each other, then you should read the book Mrs. Frisby & the Rats of NIMH. It is by Robert C. O'Brien. It is a Newberry Honor book, too. The characters are very believable. My favorite part is when Nicodemus is telling the story of how the rats escaped from NIMH. I, however, did not like the ending to the book. I recomend this book to anyone 9 & up.

The enchanted tale of Mrs.Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is "gotta read." Mrs.Frisby does many heroic deeds for her son, Timothy, such as: going two miles in the air-on a crow's back; going one mile up in a tree to speak to an owl; going into a rose bush to ask a stranger for help; and running right in front of a cat. For a small mouse saving her son, she makes the story happen. So, read this million seller book, it's amazing!

I found this particular book to be an excellent read and very enjoyable to myself as well as my children. The author Robert C. O'Brien did a superb job at grasping details, has met all my expectations, and allowed my imagination to soar along with the book. I felt it difficult to put the book down and was drawn into the plots intensities. In my opinion there is no question of how it won the Newberry award.

I have just recently read this book again. The last time I was just 12. It was everybit as good as the first time. I was just as thrilled by the suspense and danger. I read this book for the first time with my mother and recommend it for any parent to read to a child. It is a treasure.

Title - Mrs.Frisby and the Rats of Nihm. Author - Robert C. O'Brien. Genre - action.
This story is about a family of field mice. They were in a big rush to find a new home before summer came. If they didn't get to their home in time they would come face to face with death. Timothy was very sick and needed help to move him. The main characters are Timothy, Mrs.Frisby, Johnathan. My favorite character was Mrs.Frisby because she was so responsible and was very kind to others. My favorite part was when they encountered the Rats of Nimh. They help them get to their new home. My rating on this book would be a 8. I would recommend reading this book because it's exciting to see if they will make it to their home on time.

The Rats of NIMH is a spectacular and timeless story for all ages. Re-reading it at the age of 25, after at least 12 years away, it was better than ever. O'Brien's prose is masterly, and there's not a hint of anything unneeded. One of my favorite books, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is a book for everyone.

I read this book when I was eight years old and I absolutely LOVED it. The characters are well-drawn, the story is engrossing, and the tone isn't the "talking down to children" tone of so many other children's books. I highly recommend this book!

A delightful bedtime read for adults and children. The story of the rats is compelling, and I really didn't want it to end, always the sign of a good book. Now anxious to find out just what did happen beyond the mountains.

The reason I like Mrs. Frisby and the rats of Nimh is it is full of adventure. Plus it is so fake it funny. The story takes place in a lot of different settings. Basically Mrs. Frisby's house will be destroyed by the plow and they have to find a new home if theirs is ruined. My favorite character is Justin. He is the kind of person I would want to hang out with. Also I like Mrs. Frisby. She is the real main character.

I bought this book for my grandaughter, who's 13, at the suggestion of my daughter, who's 36 and still reads her copy of this book occassionally to enjoy the story again. I'm 61 and wanted to know what is it about this book that is so entertaining, so I read it too. My only comment, at any age, this story is delightful and a "must read" for all ages.

This book is fantastic for rat lovers!!!!!!! I have a pet rat myself and this book has so many awesome rats in it!!!!!!!! One reason this book really caught my attention is because the rats play nice rolls. Rats normally would be evil creatures who only lurk in dark places. But in this book the rats are extremely nice and smart. Its a amazing book perfect for all kinds of ages!!!!!!!!

I did not like the book . Also it wasn't well written . It needs to have action.
In the book their is a mouse named Mrs.Frisby. She has four children . Timothy , one of her children , falls deathly sick . Moving day is coming early this year and Timothy cannot go out in the cold . She meets a young crow named Jeremy who brings her to the old owl in the woods . The old owl told her that nothing could be done . But when Jeremy says " Come on Mrs.Frisby , I'm sorry that nothing will work . " Then the owl says you're Jonathan Frisby's widow ? Then he told her about the Rats of NIMH . The rats help her move her house and she helps them get away from NIMH .
I would rate this book in a 1-5 scale , I would give it a 2 . When I read it , it bored me . Their was only like one interesting if that .

I like this book because it was interesting. The rats were intelligent and were doing interesting experiments. My favorite part is when the rats learn to read and they get themselves out of the cages. I also liked how the rats used rollers to move Mrs. Frisby's house. It was a good book. I give it 99 1/2%.

I loved this book. I think other people would enjoy this book. The story is about a lady mouse who has to move because the farmer is going to plow over her house. But her son is very sick and will die if they move. If they stay, they all will die.

I liked the ending, because it suprised me.

Speaking as a kid of 13 and an avid reader, this book made me sick. The first time I read it was in the third grade, and I almost wanted to throw it out the window. Overall, the character's were very unrealistic, I'd probably have an easier time believing that a piece of pocket lint was alive than these mice. I would give it zero star but that wasn't an option.

I dont really like this book because its to old of a setting and it really isnt acitting to read. You get board really fast. They should of made more adventureous and should make one point to the story like u find the cure 4 Timothey or a story how you find the new home they need to surrvive.
