Drizzt Do'Urden has finally found a home. Together the companions rescued Regis from the clutches of a vengeful pasha. Drizzt battled his enemy Artemis Entreri into a retreat. Afterwards the led a dwarvish army against Bruenor's ancient realm of Mithril Hall and took it again for the king. Now Bruenor sits on his throne and the biggest concern that the companions have is the wedding of Catti-Brie and Wulfgar. Things are not as peaceful as they seem. Unbeknownst to the companions an old enemy lurks below them. Drizzt's family has not forgotten his betrayal. The chief matron of Menzoberranzen sends a war party out to capture Drizzt and put an end to this renegade.

The drow are always confident in their skills, but they underestimate the power of the companions. Bruenoer, Catti-Brie, and Wulfgar all go after Drizzt. Joining them is Thibbeldorf Pwent, a dwarf known as a gutbuster. His somewhat unique style of fighting is to wear armor that is covered with razor sharp spikes. He simply hurls himself as a living weapon at his enemies. It will take all of the cunning and skill of Drizzt and his companions to survive this encounter. Not all of them will make it.

More great sword and sorcery work from the great master himself. Salvatore's stories are always a lot of fun. If you like good adventure style fantasy then check out this book.

I've owned my copy of The Legacy for a good 15 years now, but I hadn't read it for a few years now until I happened upon it yesterday while searching through my bookshelf. Every time I begin reading it, I find myself unable to put it down because of how R.A. Salvatore's writing has a way of leaving you completely intrigued by the plot. Although I already know what's going to happen in the story since I've read the book several times, I nevertheless become immersed in the plot all over again and end up making my way through a good portion of the book even when I intended to only read a few pages. The book alternates between the plot and occasional introspective portions narrated by protagonist Drizzt Do'Urden, which is an unusual yet commendable writing style. The majority of the characters are likable in their own unique ways, which serves to make the already brilliant storytelling all the more enjoyable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Legacy to anyone with an interest in fantasy novels, and can honestly say that anyone who enjoys stories involving sword fights and magic won't be disappointed with this book. In fact, you'll probably end up purchasing Starry Night to discover what happens during the next adventure of Drizzt and his companions.

Drizzt do'urden is back underground near the ancient place of his birth. By circumstance, while looking for a party of dwarves from bruenor's mithral hall, drizzt finds himself being followed by his evil sister vierna and the mercenary band braegan d'aerthe. What follows is an insane account of hate, heroism, and tragedy. The assassin artemis entreri also shows up and with one of the best battles between drizzt and the master swordsman, i would be safe to say, this book is one of the most action packed i've read so far. The last 100 pages of this book are non-stop suspense and mayhem. Another great addition to legend of drizzt ;)!!!!

R.A. Salvatore is a great writing in my opinion. His Drizzt novels are fun and exciting, especially within the universe of Forgotten Realms when you can get so many campy, cheesy novels that literally sound like a bunch of nerds writing down their Dungeons and Dragons campaign into book format. Nothing against nerds. I play D&D. Just saying that some of the quality of writing in the Forgotten Realms universe can be somewhat lacking.

Anyways, Salvatore does a great job with characterization in his Drizzt novels. Characters like Drizzt and Wulfgar are believable to me. He also writes action really well. I was entertained throughout the whole book and in reality, that's why I read a Forgotten Realms novel, to be entertained.

Don't look for any earth shaking themes and don't look for any moving discoveries to life's many questions. Pick up this book and look to have fun, have your imagination invigorated, and be entertained. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves action & adventure and loves good science fiction & fantasy.

If you do like good action and adventure and you are a fan of good science fiction and fantasy, then pick up a copy of the newly released novel A Chance Beginning: Book One of the Shadow's Fire Trilogy

Old foes are out to ruin Drizzt's day, when it should be a time of joy as Cattie-Bre and Wulfgar's marriage draws near. Non-stop action and suspense in this tale, that just could bring a tear. Great writing and reading for fans of Drizzt

second time to read the Drizzt series. Fearsome fivesome are still the focal point but I find this time around the R.A., spends an inordinate amount of page space describing people, places and things. The action is still great, the wisdom imparted by Drizzt is still valid today and comraderie among the five still moves me.

THE LEGACY marks the first of four volumes in the LEGACY OF THE DROW series, or book 7 of the entire saga. Salvatore does not disappoint fans in this one--there's tons of action, thrilling suspense, mystery and even a bit of romance! As with the first three books, THE LEGACY focuses heavily on Drizzt's heritage and his spiteful kin remaining in the Underdark. There are several loose ends at the conclusion of this novel, I suggest you keep STARLESS NIGHT handy so you can dig right in when you finish this one! Excellent story, excellent writing! "A+"

Moving forward from the Icewind Dale trilogy, Legacy starts the next phase in the life of Drizzt. It doesn't feel forced or superficial, and is a great continuation of the saga. It's especially enjoyable to have Salvatore tie up loose ends and start the friendship between Drizzt and Jarlaxle.

This is my favorite Drizzt book so far, mostly because it takes place in caverns and tunnels. I love that stuff. If anything, though, there's so much action that it became repetitive. But the book was so much fun, so I can't really complain.
