I'm always a fan of Kelley Armstrong's writing, but her Cainsville series has been a hit or miss for me. Betrayals was an enjoyable read, but overall I'd have to rank it closer to the miss end of the spectrum.

I'll say right off the bat: love triangles annoy me. If this wasn't a Kelley Armstrong book, I probably wouldn't have picked it up in the first place. When it became clear in the previous books not only that the storyline was setting up Ricky and Gabriel to compete for Olivia's affections but also that they were "destined" to do so, I started getting iffy about the series as a whole - and rightfully so, seeing as it was one of the main focuses of Betrayals.

The book starts off when Ricky's name gets pulled into question in relation to the killing of some local street kids. That coupled with the discovery that the street kids are actually street fae is enough to get Liv and Gabriel involved, too. It's a fast-paced story, though it does get bogged down fairly often with love triangle musings.

The high points for me were in the action scenes - which were a lot of fun, as always - and the development of Ricky's and Gabriel's characters. I've always been pleasantly pleased by Ricky's maturity and thankful that it never got abandoned for the sake of needing to show off for Liv or one-up Gabriel. It was great to see him continue to step up in his role with the Wild Hunt and get further immersed in that mythology. With Gabriel, I loved the continued thawing of his ice cold character. He opens up a little more with Liv, and we get a handful of great chapters from his perspective. Both Ricky and Gabriel shone during this book, and I'm really looking forward to where this series takes them next.

Overall, Betrayals was a decent read. To me, Omens and Visions have definitely been the strongest books in the series, but Deceptions and Betrayals have by no means scared me away. I do love Kelley Armstrong's writing and am intrigued by the overall Cainsville mythology, but I really would love to see future books shift the focus back toward the mystery instead of the relationship drama. Seeing how these last two books have turned out, I'm not holding my breath, but I'll be tuning in anyways.

This review might contain some spoilers for previous books in this series.

I love this series and this book was no different. From the moment I started reading I got that feeling of contentment you have when reading a very good book. The pages easily slipped by and I didn't want to stop reading. I love the way Kelley Armstrong writes her stories, her writing style really works for me. The story flows so well and it feels like there never is a dull moment. Every scene and every interaction has my attention. I get sucked into the story. This book left me feeling happy and content as it was such a good read and I enjoyed every page of it.

Reviews for books I love are always the hardest the write and even more so when it's a later book in this series. Because even though this is a new book, it has the same things I've grown to love from the previous books. The interesting characters, the slight paranormal element and mystery mixed together in a compelling storyline, the relationships and romance between the characters and seeing how it all progresses slowly. And I almost fear that I will just be repeating myself from reviews for previous books in the series.

When I reached the last page I just wished it wasn't so long to the next and last book in the series and at the same I don't mind the wait as it will be something to look forward to. Yes I am very curious how this series will end. I felt that this book really read like book 4 of the 5. Things were set-up for the next book, characters changed and at the end I felt like the pieces were in place for the series finale.

Like in every book there is a bit of a mystery, the mystery and investigations always add something to these books. In this case Liv is investigating the deaths of some snake type of Fae. Then there is a broken hound they find and the two camps of Fae are tied into the mystery as well. I thought it was well done and I liked the twist at the end. I had expected a bigger Betrayal though, yes there is a betrayal, but I had expected worse with it being the title of this book and then in the book Rose hinting towards it.

One of my favorite parts of this series are the characters. Liv is such a great character to read about. She isn't perfect, but she is a realistic and an interesting character. I like her point of view and perspective on things. I also liked seeing her relationship with Ricky and Gabriel develop. All three of them change quite a lot in this book. It really becomes obvious the focus is on these three now. They learn more about Matilda, Gwynn and Arawn and even see themselves in parts of them, but at the same time being their own personalities as well. Normally I am not a fan of reincarnation type of stories, but I thought it was handled well here. There are visions and omens and there are hints about the choice Liv has to make, but the choice stays a bit on the background in this one.

In the first 3 books it was obvious there would be a love triangle, but in my opinion it only turns into one in this book. And I don't mind at all, I would even say it makes me a bit happy. Because I love Gabriel and Liv together and want nothing more than to see them end up together. Gah I can't explain how much I enjoyed reading the scenes were they are together. There are some really good ones, there this scene in his apartment that just made me so happy, their interactions are so much fun to read. While their relationship would be difficult I do think these two belong together. Gabriel is a bit broken, having had a hard youth and he doesn't think the same way as others, but that's also the part what I like. He has such an interesting personality and unique view on things and he cares in his own way and there are some gestures he makes in this book that were just so sweet and awesome and still totally Gabriel. And the chapters from his point of view are a real treat.

And then there is Ricky, while I always liked him and even like him and Olivia together, there is something she has with Gabriel that lacks with Ricky. And I want that for Olivia. On the other hand Ricky is so considerate and nice at times I just feel bad for him. He knows he might only have her for a limited time and is okay with that. He tries to be mature and laid back about the whole thing. And then there is the ending, the way this book ends that makes me sad and so curious about the next book at the same time.

To summarize: this book was pure joy to read. Reading this book just made me feel happy and content. Reading one of Armstrong her books is like coming home. I love this series and betrayals is a great fourth book. It continues themes set up in earlier books and also sets the stage for the last book. There is a mystery that is mostly solved in this book and it was an interesting one. The betrayal mentioned in the title wasn't as bad as I had expected, although it was a nice twist. I liked seeing the characters change and develop in this book. And in this book it feels like the potential love triangle really turns into one. And I am glad about that partly as I want Liv to end up with Gabriel. The scenes where Gabriel and Liv interact are amazing to read, it makes me happy just reading about them interacting. I think Armstrong handles the love triangle really well. Both Gabriel and Ricky are good for Liv, but in different ways. Liv her relationship with both of them is very different. It's interesting to read about. And Gabriel is such an interesting characters to read about, his view and perspective so unique. I like that we get his and Ricky his point of view a few times as well. All in all this was a great read and I can't wait for the fifth and final book in this series to see how things will get wrapped up.

When Ricky gets implicated in a crime where someone is killing young women, Olivia starts to investigate. The crimes are tied to she, Gabriel, and Ricky’s relationship to the Cwyn Anwyn and the Fae. Each wanting her paired up with one of the men. During their investigation Olivia uncovers more secrets about her past and becomes more torn between her love for both of them.

I love how her relationships with both Ricky and Gabriel have evolved in this series. Ricky, as her boyfriend has her best interests at heart and seems to act very unselfishly, at times unrealistically. However, my own fascination with Gabriel, and Olivia’s new focus on him as more than a friend, allows me to overlook Ricky’s choices. I like Ricky and if this were a movie I’d be drooling over his good looks, but give me the strong and tortured hero, and I’ll root for him every time. Gabriel, however seems to be his own worst enemy constantly making mistakes and hurting Olivia. Will she keep giving him another chance? If this were real life, maybe not, but I’m happy she does in this series.

The mystery in this story is secondary to the movement of the plot about their love triangle, which is why I’m not focusing on it too much in my review. However, as with any book by Kelley Armstrong, it’s well written and does help move the overall plot forward. Was this my favorite book in the series? No. It’s solidly written, but its sole purpose is to set us up for the big finale, Rituals, out August 15, 2017. I can’t wait to get my hands on it as I’m fully invested in seeing how this all plays out. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Brought to you by OBS reviewer Heidi

Olivia, Gabriel, and Ricky have accepted the roles they play in the ancient drama around them, the one that keeps repeating with new characters. The Fae of Cainsville and the Cwn Annwn both vying for Olivia’s attention, both factions’ futures depending on her choice, Gabriel or Ricky; Tylwyth Teg or Cwn Annwn. But Olivia, Gabriel, and Ricky are determined not to make the same mistakes those of the past have made. They aren’t going to force a decision, but instead stick together, the three of them. They feel it’s the only way to avoid heartbreak and complete and utter destruction. However, now Liv is having visions of young girls being brutally murdered and begging her to choose stating they will continue to die if she doesn’t.

Ricky has also been accused of murder, which leads our famous trio into an investigation that involves the girls in Liv’s visions, the Lamiae. But their investigation also leads them to a rogue Huntsmen and a broken and abused Cwn (hound) that will take everything Ricky and Olivia have to bring back to trusting and get past her fear and hurt.

And during all of this, Gabriel finally realizes what he’s lost by not being able to be what Liv needed emotionally in the early going. He’s decided he doesn’t want to roll over and die and just let Ricky have her. He won’t try to keep her from Ricky or even try to break them up, but he’s decided it’s time to show her how much she means to him.

This is one of those series that I get so excited to get my hands on and usually they’re pretty entertaining reads. You caught that ‘usually’ right? Sadly, this installment just didn’t do it for me. I stayed with the storyline fine, but I just didn’t find it all that exciting. And, I couldn’t get past the unlikeness of Gabriel, Ricky, and Olivia all staying friends forever. I mean she’s dating Ricky, but obviously has feelings for Gabriel as well. It’s human nature to develop deeper feelings for one person over the other, just as it’s natural for the guys to form jealousies between them over her. I know in my gut that one of the guys is going to end up with their heart shredded. And, it makes me pretty sad thinking about it.

Luckily for Gabriel, Ricky is a really understanding guy, a bit too understanding. Backing away from Olivia when you can tell he doesn’t want to, but feels Gabriel needs him to. Not to mention the last scene of this book. I hated his latest move to make sure the trio stays intact. This solidifies my feelings that Olivia will end up with Gabriel and who will Ricky have to blame for it? I think the only way they can all stay harmonious friends is if Olivia finds a new man unrelated to all of this stuff. But who would be able to tolerate two other guys salivating over their woman? I guess only time will tell how it will all shake out. I just hope the next book is more entertaining for me than this one was.

4.25 stars--BETRAYALS is the fourth installment in Kelley Armstrong’s contemporary, CAINSVILLE paranormal/fantasy series. BETRAYALS should not be read as a stand alone as each consecutive installment builds upon the events of the previous books. BETRAYALS advances the series approximately four months.

SOME BACKGROUND: Olivia Taylor-Jones aka Eden Larsen is a twenty four year old woman whose biological parents-Todd and Pamela Larsen- were accused of multiple murders and they currently sit in prison awaiting retrial. Discovering she was adopted and not knowing the truth behind her early years, Olivia finds refuge in the small town of Cainsville where mysterious omens, visions and portents of doom focus their power and intensity at Olivia Taylor-Jones. The people of Cainsville are just as perplexing with their secrets, double speak and touch of magic-everyone in Cainsville is connected and everything happens for a reason.

Told from first person point of view (Olivia) and dual third person perspectives (Ricky and Gabriel) BETRAYALS is a story line steeped in Celtic lore where the Fae rule the town of Cainsville, and Olivia’s portents and visions reveal the past, the present and the possible future. When several young women go missing, and are presumed dead the finger of guilt is pointed at Olivia’s boyfriend Ricky. The connection to Olivia brings our heroine front and center, along with Gabriel, her boss and lawyer, into a paranormal investigation that pulls our trio between the past and present; where specieism and the supernatural powers pit themselves against one another; where revenge and betrayal are at the heart of so much death and destruction.

Cainsville is a town of magical folk whose glamor hides the truth about the people who live there; where dreams and nightmares are controlled; where visions blend the past and the present betraying a possible future that is likely to unfold. Omens, visions, and harbingers of doom become an every day occurrence as our heroine must read the signs for directions and clues.

The Celtic lore and mythology focuses on a love triangle that is represented by our present day trio: Olivia (aka Matilda), Gabriel (Gwynn) and Rickey (Arawn) wherein the past Matilda had to choose between Gwynn or Arawn. The love triangle continues in present day whereby our heroine is in love with both men, and both men are in love with Olivia. History continues to repeat itself, with each successive generation; Olivia, Gabriel and Ricky each have a role to play and fulfill; the possible future is foretold and Olivia is struggling with her emotions and feelings. There is plenty of personal growth for each of the three leading characters-some is resignation and acceptance, while most is a willingness to go forward and explore. The people of Cainsville have chosen their ‘victor’ and continue to push Olivia in the direction they choose.

BETRAYALS is a wonderful and enchanting story line where the past becomes the present, and history becomes to replay and repeat. The premise is dramatic, intriguing and suspenseful; the characters are energetic, passionate and fascinating; the mythology and lore are entertaining and inventive. As with all of Kelley Armstrong’s books and series, the romance is secondary to the main story line but the potential for heartbreak makes the reader vulnerable to sorrow-one way or another.

Fourth in the Cainsville urban fantasy series and revolving around Olivia Taylor-Jones, Ricki Gallagher, and Gabriel Walsh, caught up in a neverending cycle of love and betrayal among the fae.

My Take
You know, it took four books before I wondered about "Caine" and "Cainsville". Ya reckon there's a connection??

The immediate conflict in Betrayals are the murders, which ties into the overall series conflict of Matilda needing to choose between Cŵn Annwn and Tylwyth Teg, between Arawn and Gwynn, deciding who will thrive and who will not. It's a conflict that becomes so much more interesting in the characters of the two men, of their determination that this reincarnation will be different and yet caught in their past actions.

Ricky is amazingly noble in how he sees his relationship with Olivia, and it makes me want to cry. It's reinforced by Rose's reading, as it shows him evolving, and that's true enough, especially in that scene with Ioan, with the choices he's making.

As for Gabriel, whoaaa, in his guilt he's making some radical choices himself. Choices that have me veering between, yep, wanting to cry, and cheering. He wants a relationship with Olivia, but can't get past his emotional defenses. And ooh, baby, does she ever call him on it, on his cowardice! And the visions help her make her point of those "variations on a theme".

Nor are my emotions helped by those cryptic comments he makes about his childhood. His drug-addicted mother, his absentee father, the lack of any security in his very young life.

The two guys? Searching for proof of okay? That is so not how I would expect muggers to act.

I'm so conflicted about Pamela. She's hard, she's determined, she will do whatever it takes to "save" her daughter. I can understand that. I can even understand (and truly empathize with) the bargain she made with the Wild Hunt. But dang, she is hard.

*Snicker*, I did enjoy Olivia standing up to Melanie's demand. And she's perfectly right!

It's a pip of a series and incredibly complex in its twists and turns with those slow reveals — if you haven't been reading it, get going! This one is a buy in my book.
"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all."
AND, I wanna kill Caine for that ending!!! It's gonna be another year before Rituals comes out! Hmmm, you may wanna wait…*grrr*…

The Story
It began in friendship and ended in rivalry for Matilda's hand in a secret pact between Arawn and Gwynn. A pact that doomed them all. Now both sides compete for Matilda, for their very survival depends on her.

Olivia, Ricky, and Gabriel are determined to break the cycle, to not repeat the mistakes of the past, but their history is conspiring against them.

The Characters
Olivia Taylor-Jones, the former Eden Larsen, is plagued with visions and is the reincarnation of Matilda of the Night, a Mallt-y-nos, who had been a witch with both Cŵn Annwn and Tylwyth Teg blood. TC is her cat in Cainsville. Pamela Larsen is her birth mother, who is in prison for serial murder. Todd Larsen, her birth father with Cŵn Annwn blood, is also in jail.

Ricky Gallagher is the heir to his father's motorcycle gang business empire, Satan's Saints, and is getting an MBA. He also has Cŵn Annwn blood and is the reincarnation of Arawn. He and Olivia are a couple. Don is his father.

Gabriel Walsh is a shark of a defense lawyer with deep emotional issues and employs Olivia as a private detective. He's the reincarnation of Gwynn ap Nudd, King of the Faeries, the Tylwyth Teg, the Welsh fae, and the third in the romantic triangle of Arawn and Matilda. Rose Walsh, Gabriel's worried aunt, is a psychic and con artist, true to her Walsh roots. Lydia is Gabriel's human assistant.

Cainsville is…
…a Tylwyth Teg town that grudgingly allows Ricky in. The Carew house was Olivia's great-great-grandmother's home. Grace, a bogart, is Olivia's landlord in town. Patrick, a 300-some-year-old hobgoblin, a bòcan, is the town's resident romance novelist; one of his pseudonyms is Patrice Rhys. He's also Gabriel's father, which he had been at pains to hide. Ida Clark is the de facto leader; Walter is her husband. Veronica is another of the village elders. Larry Knight is cook and owner of the Corner Diner where most of the town interaction takes place; Susie is a waitress there. Webster is the town doctor.

Olivia's visions…
…take her to the far or near past. The lamiae she sees include Anna, Dami, and the nameless ones kept prisoner and used. The visions also include the trio's past lives from their original childhood to various reincarnations, including Alice, Peter, and Carl. Ricky has one when he appears to be a Michael O'Grady. Other visions show Olivia of past deals the Hunt has made. Or not, as John Miller learns.

The Cŵn Annwn, is the Wild Hunt…
…the Huntsmen, who are responsible for bringing those with fae blood to justice or to provide them with vengeance. They may not touch humans who commit crimes, but will make bargains with others to kill them. Ioan is the leader of the local Hunt and head of Gwylio Consulting, a security firm. He's also Ricky's grandfather. Brien is the alpha of the Hounds.

The Lamiae are…
…half-snake female fae who need to devour life force for their sustenance. The girls are aided by Aunika Madole, Lucy's sister, who runs an outreach center for teen prostitutes. Erin is her helper. Some of the lamiae include Melanie, Lucy, Rina, Steph, the broken Pepper, and Damara "Dami" who loves Toby.

Ciro Halloran was married to Dr. Lucy Madole, who was murdered. Seems both come from samhail families.

Pamela arranged for the murder of James Morgan, Olivia's ex-fiancé. She set it up with Tristan Crouch, whom she framed along with Gabriel. Imogene Seale is the missing witness who knows the truth about those first murders.

The Huntsman is strong in his evil. Fwnion is the Hound who is broken and becomes Lloergan.

Detective Amos and his partner are jerks. Matt is a barista at Olivia's favorite coffee shop.

Boinne-fala means a drop of the Old Blood, a disparaging term among the fae. Disgynyddion means descendant while epil means offspring. Mhacasamhail is Gaelic and refers to human families who have made a deal with a fae family to serve them in a symbiotic relationship. Samhail is the American term for the same deal. A coblynau is the Welsh version of a tommyknocker, hardworking and kind-hearted. Leprechauns are real, but it's not a pot of gold they give. Rose's reference to Daniel Dunglas Home is to a spiritualist in Arthur Conan Doyle's time.

The Cover and Title
The cover is scary and benign. I know, it makes no sense. It's a deep, deep red horizontal gradient with the "lightest" red in the center. Just enough light so you can see the black Hound facing you, staring at you. The author's name and title are embossed in silver and gold respectively. I do love the series information in the bottom right corner. It's one of those "welcome to…" signs, greeting your arrival in Cainsville.

The title is Betrayals, and yes, there are many a'many of those in Cainsville…

Many fans of this series will be very pleased with this book I’m sure, especially with the ending. YYYYYEEESSS!

There is a lot more to learn here, a lot more character development that it was another great book to the series! So far the only book I’ve absolutely did not care for when it comes to this series is the second book. And next year we finally get the last book! *whew* I can’t wait. I’ve been so invested in this series like no other series that I can think of….oh wait the Selection Series by Kiera Cass, polar opposites right? weird, I know. anyway…

I am a little exhausted with the triangle thing but then again it’s what helped keep me so invested. I have truly enjoyed this paranormal story though it’s been awesome. I am sick to death of all the sex that go on between Ricky and Olivia. Everything time it’s mentioned I just roll my eyes, I don’t care…move on!

Gabriel is just such a well done male character. So complex! I love him so much and have appreciated the slow process with this character. I have loved him since page one. I have loved his layers and I have loved his development it’s been perfect! He is so flawed… *sigh*

Ricky on the other hand is just a good guy…who can do bad things sometimes because he is in a gang…that sounds terrible…but he is what he is but overall he is genuinely a good guy! I have learned to appreciate him even though I’ve been rooting for Gabriel the entire time but by the end of this book I just…Respected Ricky in a new way, what a good man.

Hence the love triangle that wasn’t one and so well written that it was slow becoming. it’s been good.

Overall fans of this one will totally love this book as we FINALLY get to see some action between two specific characters that I will not name. It’s awesome and the ending, I found myself yelling, “FIN-A-FREAKIN-LLY!!!

Betrayals is the fourth book in the Cainsville series. There is a final book in the series, Rituals, coming out in 2017. There will be some spoilers from the previous books in this review.

The main narrator of the book is Olivia (1st person). But there are also some 3rd person narration (Ricky/future leader of a biker gang and Gabriel/lawyer and Olivia's boss).

I love this series. I would describe it as part mystery and part paranormal. The paranormal elements have definitely increased with each book. Olivia has visions. But also the fae play a big part in the story.

Each book has a mystery. And this book's mystery has to do with a bunch of dead girls.

Olivia was adopted. Her birth parents Pamela and Todd have been in jail for 20+ years (accused of serial killings). Olivia and Gabriel are trying to get Todd out (although that storyline was not the main focus of this book).

When Betrayals begins Olivia has a vision. Visions play a very important part in this book (and the entire series).

When I first saw the cover of the hound I was not sure what to think. It was odd looking. But after finishing the book I am obsessed with this cover. It fits this book perfectly.

I have two favorite things about this series. 1) Cainsville. 2) Gabriel.

Cainsville is the town full of mystery where the elders are in charge. I am so happy that we get a lot more Cainsville in Betrayals (we got much less in the last book). I love everything about Cainsville. I am obsessed with Gabriel's aunt Rose. And I love Patrick and the elders. They are hilarious.

We get a lot of Gabriel in this book. He is such a unique and original character. And I loved to see how his character has progressed. He started as someone unable to show emotion. And now he is slowly realizing how much Olivia means to him.

This book features a love triangle (between Olivia, Ricky and Gabriel). But these three are the embodiment of Matilda of the Hunt, Arawn/Cwn Annwn (Ricky) and Gwynn/Tylwyth Teg (Gabriel). In that story Matilda had to choose between the two men.

This is one of the most interesting love triangles I have seen. Because Olivia really does have a deep connection to both Gabriel and Ricky. Also, Gabriel and Ricky could not be more different. Gabriel is sneaky and cunning and rarely feels emotions. While Ricky is sexy and studious and in a biker gang. Additionally, we have the whole Cwn Annwn/Wild Hunt and Tylwyth Teg/Welsh fae/the elders component. Since Olivia, Gabriel and Ricky embody these people how does the past impact the choices they make now?

This book features a lot of detective work to solve the mystery. Olivia and the gang are in a lot of dangerous situations. I loved it all.

Something happens at the end that really surprised me. I was looking forward to the last book. But now I absolutely cannot wait to read the final book of the series! I want to see how it will end.

This is the fourth book in the Cainsville series and I absolutely adored it. There are supposed to be five books in this series. The fifth book, Rituals, is expected to release in August of 2017.

This series just blends together so many story elements that I love. There is some great mystery in here, some wonderful urban fantasy elements, some thriller aspects, and a bit of romance. This is very much an investigative type of urban fantasy. I love the fae theme that flows throughout this book as well.

This book reveals a lot more about the ancient Fae past that Gabriel, Olivia, and Ricky are tied in with. We see a lot more flashbacks to their past lives and the way this triangle of love and friendship played out in past generations.

Some more of Cainsville’s secrets are slowly exposed and I really enjoy the mystery behind this small town of Fae. I also always enjoy watching Olivia and Gabriel working together to unravel a mystery and there is a very well done mystery in this book that ties into the overall story nicely.

My favorite part of the book was the changing dynamic between Olivia and Gabriel. There are some scenes between those two that will practically stop your heart with their intensity, beauty and pain. I loved Ricky all the more for consideration he gives to the happiness of everyone involved in this crazy ancient fey triangle of love and hate.

The writing is amazing and flows very nicely. This book is incredibly engaging and very very hard to put down. It’s one of those books that I didn’t want to end and when it did end I immediately found myself wishing for the next book.

Overall this was an absolutely amazing read. I am loving this series so much more than anything Armstrong has written. It’s got an amazing world, excellent mysteries, and engaging characters; it’s just such a wonderful balance of so many story elements. I would highly recommend to urban fantasy fans who love investigative stories. I have also really been enjoying Armstrong’s Casey Duncan series; City of the Lost was amazing (although no fantasy elements in that one). So if you enjoy this series check out the Casey Duncan series too!

Once again a total hit! I'm in love with this series. This one has more paranormal happenings than ever but then if you've read the three previous books, Omens, Visions and Deceptions, you'll be used to this creeping increase of unusual happenings with Olivia, Gabriel and Ricky.

Since finding out that she was the child of serial killers Olivia's life has been tumultuous. She moved to Cainsville looking for a safe place that would protect her from the paparazzi who follow her every move. But now Olivia, Gabriel and Ricky have figured out that they are in a paranormal love triangle that has happened many times in the past. Both the Cainsville elders and the Huntsman both want Olivia's loyalty but it seems if she chooses between the two groups that want her she'll have to also choose between Gabriel and Ricky. That choice could lead to tragic happenings but can the three of them stay loyal to each other?

All of the above happens as Olivia, Gabriel and Ricky try to find out who is murdering young women in the city. It's all tied to the paranormal events they're learning about through Olivia's visions but there seems to be something or someone else pulling the strings here. The situation is putting everyone in danger, especially Olivia and although Cainsville elders and the Huntsman try to keep her safe it just might not be enough this time. A five star read, once again.

The best yet in this series, Betrayals is terrific. The mythology in this adventure is easier to follow that previous volumes. The balance of relationships and action is great. But OOOOOH the relationships! I love the main characters is this series and there are so many great scenes!

I found I wanted to draw out this book while reading it - I kept interrupting my reading just to make the experience last longer!

Love Armstrong!

Betrayals is the fourth book in the Cainsville series by Kelley Armstrong. Could possibly be a stand alone book but there is so much history in the first three books it could be a little difficult. Please start with book one, Omens. Excellent book and I'm looking forward to reading book five!

Unknown to me when I bought Betrayals it was book 4 in the Cainsville series. So what I missed was the history of how this all got started and the characters. I still found it to be a good read and now I'm anxious to start with book 1 and see how it all came together.
