There were SO MANY grammatical errors throughout the entire book and the story itself was pretty stupid. Twitter hypes the book up because there's an excerpt from this book that's very cute, but I wouldn't waste my time reading this book just for a few cute lines in the story.

Not entirely bad. The writing and grammatical mistakes were far too great to ignore. There were points at which the entirely wrong word was used. I feel like these mistakes would have been easily corrected with an extra glance for proofreading/editing. I also wish it all played out differently and felt as if it may have been a little subdued storyline. But not a bad read. It was a very quick read.

As a librarian I read so many young adult romances. This book was great. It had so many twists and turns. Every time I thought I knew what was coming up next, a complete twist would happen. It kept me engaged. I absolutely love all the little details. I highly recommend this book.

I am having a very hard time getting through this book, not only does it have totally unrealistic happenings and changes in events, but the grammar is AWFUL. There was at least five times where the author used "and me" instead of " and I". The sentence structure was also horrible, how did this author AND illustrator miss all of these things??? Did they not pass high school english? Or sleep through simple grammatical practices that were taught in the second grade?

This book was amazing, I read books like it's going out of style and most are romantic ones. This book though it didn't ever focus on the physical of ones relationship it focused on the raw pure love that only comes once in a lifetime. They weren't the perfect couple you normally read about in books or see in movies, they were best friends with imperfections and real life but in the end it didn't matter because they loved each other. Their imperfections made them perfect together. I normally don't give books five stars but this I can say will be my favorite book for a very long time!

I bought this book after seeing a screen shot of it on Twitter and decided to give it a shot. Started it and could not put it down for the life of me. I stayed up until 2 a.m. reading it and loving every bit of it. The friendship displayed by Ethan and August is just beautiful. The dialog really showed a lot about the characters and their personalities. Parts of the story were a bit far-fetched, but still good. I actually cried near the end when August read the letter Ethan's mother left for him. All in all a great book. A must read even.

I don't think the book is written very well and the storyline is overwhelmingly cheesy but it's cute. I felt too invested to stop reading it when i first started to dislike it but I am glad I made it to the end. I'm a sucker for love stories.

Aside from the grammatical errors, the story was great. It was funny and kept me interested the entire time I read it. I'm a bit biased in my rating but only because I sincerely enjoy stories like this one. There's nothing wrong with the product, but if you find yourself not enjoying the story, it has nothing to do with the author. It only has to do with your own reading preferences.

The book rushes through the plot and tries to tell the story of a girl being in love with her best friend and also becoming a successful actress. Character development is almost nonexistent and many characters only have a single trait. It's an unrealistic fairytale disguised as a YA novel.

I found this book just painfully slow and the main characters childish. I finally gave up half-way through it and skimmed to the end. The story seemed to be written about twelve year olds, rather than supposed adults. Disappointing after all of the positive reviews.

honestly, the best book i've read in years. Mr. Taylor has a way of captivating the reader in ways that other author's cannot. I would recommend this book to any and everyone who's ever loved someone. It will open your eyes and drastically change your perspective (for the better) on how you view life, love, and true happiness. Bless this man for being a terrific author and storyteller.

I absolutely loved this book. I have no words for how amazingly well written Ethan and August's relationship is. It is one of my favourite love stories. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good read. It is the perfect romance.

It's awesome and sweet how Ethan watches over her . A definite must read if you like a little bit of love but more interesting than just all the mush and gush stories I loved it. Only thing could've made it better if one there's a sequel or two the book was a bit longer !

This book is truly amazing. It a story of love. The long lasting kind. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves sappy, romantic love stories. This book is so real with the way it looks at love between two best friends. Ethan and August are two best friends who found the greatest love within each other and I think that's something everyone craves to have.

This book had me in tears. It was so good. Everything was so carefully thought out. I have read it at least a dozen time and can't stop. This hands down my favorite book ever. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars and I can't wait to see what more he has coming.

I really did love this book, it was a good read and I loved the story line. It took me only one day to read it and now I am sad I won't find another book with characters I like so much! Overall, I loved this book and I would recommend it to all other readers that enjoy a good romantic book.

This book was such a fun/amazing/addicting read!! I admit it's not the most sophisticated book so if you're looking for something Jane Austin worthy, move along. But if you love a good love story this is definitely for you!!!!

I could not even get through the first chapter. I felt like I was reading a book written by a high school student. The descriptions were very lack luster and the dialogue in the beginning between August and Ethan when they were kids is hard to believe. No 6 year old talks like that... Returned for a refund.

I absolutely loved this book. I know it's silly but I would actually want to read Ethans POV , I think it would be an interesting way to read it from his view. But I overall , I couldn't put it down . I read through the entire book within 2 hours.

This book is completely worth the read, and maybe even a re-read. Absolutely loved it! It's so thoughtful and makes you want to keep reading. Normally reading makes me tired, this book woke me up in so many ways. We all deserve what they have in this book..

I finished this book in less than 5 hours with tears running down my face at the end. Although I am not normally one for books I'm ecstatic to have read this and will read it again and again. I advise everyone to do the same.

This was a book that I had been seeing all over social media. It looked interesting, but I could never bring myself to actually purchase it. When I finally did, after it downloaded, I could not put it down. Every single page is worth reading, no skimming whatsoever. Definitely an amazing read that I plan on recommending to every person I know, whether or not they read. I loved it most, because of August and Ethan's relationship reminds of my own best friend and I being too stubborn to admit our feelings. The storyline was stunning and captivating. Very well written, and I loved seeing the differences between America and Britain in writing.

Taste is subjective, of course, but I'm flummoxed by the 4.5 average star rating for this book. I got it on my teenage sister's recommendation because I like being able to talk about books with her and have previously quite enjoyed some YA lit she sent my way (Rainbow Rowell, Katie Cotugno, etc). I wouldn't bother leaving a negative review for a story that simply wasn't up my alley, but this book was so rife with grammatical and syntactical errors that I didn't make it past the first chapter. I hope this review saves anyone else with standards for proper English the time and money. Maybe this book had something going for it narratively, but I'll never find out due to its desperate need for an editor.

Just Friends by Billy Taylor follows the story of August Bishop and Ethan Knight, who have been inseparable best friends since Ethan’s seventh birthday. But when Ethan saves her life in a car crash, she begins to wonder if maybe they could be more than just friends. They go through a lot but they always come back to each other.

At first I didn’t know what to expect, I kept hearing/seeing quotes and pictures on Twitter, about this book and new author, so I took a chance and ordered it, because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

Honestly, I expected more, like A LOT more. I am a little disappointed…I did find it really hard to concentrate on the actual storyline; it was predictable, uninteresting and overall a very tedious book to read. I honestly cannot see why it blew up on social media the way it did..

I thought the book would have been longer, more about their relationship (by this I mean, more intimate encounters between the main characters, August and Ethan), character development, and more challenges they have to face as a couple (but they weren’t really seen as an official couple throughout the whole book, which was kind of annoying), etc.

I also wish it was properly edited (grammar, paragraph& sentence structure)… hahah! Yes, I’m a total grammar Nazi~ xD

It’s just, it would have made the story so much better, if I hadn’t had to stop to re-word a sentence/add words to make it, make better sense/unnecessary sentences.

Okay, yeah, the author is British so some terminology is different/ things are said completely different from North American English. Like bathroom is loo, or high school is called college or that they say a person is called August, instead of named August, etc.

But… I don’t know… I don’t know how to feel about this book…. There was absolutely no flow in this book what so ever. The thoughts weren’t blended or merged in anyway and the events that happened were far-fetched, for happening to two people in such a short amount of time, which made the story, seem immature.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, I know it probably sounds like I totally hated it, but I did like it, kind of. It just needs some major improvements…

Putting all the negativity aside, the ending was REALLY FREAKING ADORABLE. The ending was so cute it was almost worth reading the rest of the book…. xD

I don’t know if I’d actually recommend it though, maybe if you were really, truly curious about the book yourself, then I would say go for it… though I’d wait to see if it was at your local library where you could borrow it… without spending money on it…

Also! I read on Billy Taylor’s twitter, he’s writing a second book called Mutual Feelings, which is being released in March-ish… I’ll probably get it for the sake of knowing what’s next… but from reading this one, I definitely have low expectations for it…

This book was pretty predictable. BUT I loved it, I read it on my phone and noticed some errors, however by the time I got to the middle I couldn't put it down. I thought the story line was very cute, I enjoyed how romantic and sweet Ethan was. I think its worth the read, however I do feel that the younger crowds will enjoy this more. If you normally read complex novels, I'd suggest skipping Just Friends.

This book was one of the biggest examples of disillusionment I have experienced. I have seen raving reviews and comments for this work for years, and never got around to making it a priority. Finally, after reading another great review and having some extra cash, I ordered it, and boy was I let down. It's written in such a childish way, with obviously no attention to grammar rules. It honestly reads like the author is in junior high, I'm just very disappointing after building up such a great image of this book in my head.

I have no idea where these positive reviews are coming from. I will literally read anything and most likely enjoy anything. After seeing this book all over twitter (possibly by paid sponsors???) I decided to order it on I-tunes. Thank god I didn't spend money on the actual book. Yes, there are grammar errors on almost every page. Yes, the writing of the story changes from past to present tense incorrectly. But, I really tried to over look these mistakes and finish. I did finish the book, but it was PAINFUL. I feel like the writing in general was low quality and it genuinely concerns me that so many people (12 year old girls hopefully) are calling it the best book they've ever read!? Are you people personal friends of the author? Did he pay you to write these reviews?

For anyone saying that this really describes love for them or this was the best book they've ever read, go read some classics.. Pride and Prejudice, maybe some Great Gatsby, for god sakes even just The Catcher and the Rye. Open your eyes to how great writing CAN be, not just some book that photographs well on Twitter.

I beg you. For our future.

I loved the storyline, but there were some moments where the grammar and syntax used made me cringe. There were faults in the logic of some parts of the novel(like instant fame months before the premier of the movie) and moments where it was painfully obvious that the female main character/narrator was written by a man. Overall a cute(but completely unrealistic) story that, if you can get past the editing errors, you will probably enjoy reading

I loved it! The story of two friends falling in love has been done a million times but the author made this story so enjoyable to read with the adorable, witty characters. I knew how it was going to end but could not put the book down until I found out how it was going to happen. I would love to see a sequel to this book but I'm not sure the author can top this one!!

This book has the cutest plot! I lost count of how many times I squealed or said "awe". Grammar was not very noticeable to me since I know it's eenagera from England. Overall.. definitely one of my new favorite books and I recommend it 100% if you want a short read that makes your heart melt!!!

This is probably the stupidest, worst written book I've ever read. The plot is like the fantasy of a 13-year-old girl. Totally unrealistic. Horrible grammar. Has the publisher never heard of editing? Not worth anyone's time.

I honestly can't comprehend how this book has got such high ratings and praises. In my opinion, it was predictable, the sentences were choppy, and the plot overall was simple. The only reason I finished it was because it would've bothered me not reading it completely, I would not recommend.

I read the reviews and saw that this book has some work needing to be done to it but it's also really good. I bought it kind of really excited to read it. It took me a bit for the first few chapters because again, the grammar was off but I continued on and once you get passed the errors and just read the story, it's beautiful. like it's one of those stories where you just think the two characters are perfect for each other but you also get a good connection to it because maybe you and your best friend have the same relationship. It's a good debut book.

I saw the book all over social media. I wanted a paperback copy so i saw that barns and noble was the only place who sold it in the store and I wanted it right away. So i went there and said they dont sell it on shelves it can only be bought by on demand. I was a little upset but dealt with it. I got it in the mail a few days later and didn't start reading until i was by the pool and i was hooked from the start. I couldn't put it down. It took me 2 1/2 days to finish it I hoped he had other books to read or hope he makes a sequel to Just Friends. I would definitely recommend sooo good!!
