Just too many different characters. Tedious jumping from character to character. You just get into one story and have to go into a differnt one. But I just keep reading to find out what each one is going to do.

I have ordered alot of used books on the store and if they have a rating of very good, I would expect the cover to be in that condition but with this book, the cover was in poor condition. The book was fine to read but the condition was not very good as listed.

This is my second time reading this series. I am only 10% in to this book and feel very disappointed in the change in details. Example 1: Maryellen does not find the letters after being happily married for a time, she finds the letters when she is changing things around to accommodate the move in of her belongings to Jon's house. Example 2: Bob Beldon is not told by Roy during a phone call to go to the police station when he thinks he is being followed the first time, he goes there on his own and then calls Roy. This author needs someone to assist her in keeping the details straight. While these are not major items, they are distracting.

The journey continues on in the small community of Cedar Cove. Readers will continue to discover the adventures that take place in the characters lives. The author continues to introduce new characters into the lives of the old characters and I can guarantee that you will fall in love with all the characters the way that I have.
50 Harbor Street is the fifth book in the Cedar Cove series. Like the previous books the author continues to dig into the mystery and the drama of what takes place in Cedar Cove. Jack and Olivia are trying to adjust to life as a married couple, but they are having a harder time than they expected. Olivia has prompted Jack to eat healthier and to exercise more Jack has consistently refused. One day Jack finally takes what Olivia has been telling him and decides to use the treadmill Olivia bought him for Christmas. He was on the treadmill for 15 minutes before Olivia found him in the middle of a heart attack. This opened both Jack and Olivia’s eyes to how disconnected they have become from one another.
Olivia’s mother Charlotte is also adjusting to married life however her transition has been much easier than her daughters. Her husband Ben is the first person that she has loved since her husband died and she is so happy with him. Everything was good until Ben’s son David came around asking for money. Charlotte has always been curious about Ben;s relationship with his sons but has never pressured him to talk about. She now understands why Ben had never felt like talking about his non-existent relationship with his children.
Grace and Cliff seem to be doing well as a couple until Cliff decides not to show up to the dinner that Grace was planning on proposing to him. Grace believed that they could overcome everything that they have been through but Cliff pulls the only string holding their relationship together when he doesn’t show up to dinner. Grace feels as though it is over for real this time until Cliff shows up at her house the next day and proposes to her. Grace can’t resist because she knows that she will always love Cliff.
Maryellen and Jon are filled with Joy when they find out that they are expecting their second child. They couldn’t be happier because they are married and their daughter Katie is getting bigger everyday. Everything seems to be perfect until Maryellen is put on bedrest for the last 5 months of her pregnancy. Now all they can do is hope for the best.
Bob and Peggy have solved the latest murder mystery that took place at their bed and breakfast. An old friend of Bob’s was killed on a rainy night a little over than 3 years ago. They have been working with the local police and a private investigator to figure out who the murder is only to find that his daughter, whom they welcomed into their home, had killed her own father.
Cecilia says goodbye to her husband as he is shipped off to serve in the navy. Cecilia worries about not having him there for the birth of their child and she is praying that everything goes smoothly. She continues to work for Zachary Cox and has become a mentor to his daughter Allison Cox. She communicates with her husband through email and couldn’t be happier when her husband arrives home for the birth of their child.
Roy and Corrie Mcafee run a private investigation in the small town of Cedar Cove and they have recently been receiving postcards that are making them question their past. They try not to think about this and instead find themselves helping their daughter get settled in her new apartment in Cedar Cove. They are so happy that the local medical clinic has offered her a job because now their daughter Lynette gets to be closer to them. They later discover that Lynette's neighbor, Gloria, is the daughter that they gave up for adoption 30 years ago.
This series take place in the romance genre; but there is an aspect of mystery that is weaved through the storyline.Every chapter leaves you wanting to read more and I have really enjoyed that about this series. I can’t wait to keep reading about the drama and the mystery of this small town in the sixth book!

What a wonderful story! Macomber seamlessly tells the tales of the lives of those who live in Cedar Cove in such an unforgettable manner that I can’t stop thinking about it. She not only told a wonderful story, but was also engaged my emotions. I found myself trying to unravel certain parts of the story while also hoping for the best for others. All the while, Macomber brings this small town to life in such a manner that I felt as if I were actually there.

I absolutely love bouncing around between all the characters’ lives. It gives the novel such a small town, homey feel. I finished the novel feeling as if I’d had a wonderful conversation with a close personal friend. This intimate method of character development really gave me insight into who everyone was, where they came from, and what they’re headed to. I appreciated the way that the various points of mystery passed one another. The way that everyone’s lives and troubles were so real and had me completely wrapped up in them. They completely captured my heart.

Once again Macomber has painted the world with the wonders of small town life. Her characters captured my heart and invited me into their lives for a short while, also leaving an open invite for a return visit.

Anything Debbie Macomber writes I will buy! I picked up this book at my local book store and I love the Cedar Cove Series.

The characters, they feel like they can be your best friends, and every book the story continues to build and develop. Sure, there are a lot of characters, but Debbie's writing has them laid out so you know who is what, it is so easy to follow. I love it! These characters could very well be real life family.

Thank you Debbie for always writing amazing stories!

50 Harbor Street is the 5th in Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove series. Once again we join the residents of Cedar Cove in their daily lives. The mystery of the anonymous postcards being sent to the McAfees is finally solved as someone from their past returns to their lives. Olivia's determination to get Jack fit backfires on her. Newly married Charlotte Jefferson-Rhodes and her family have encounters with her new stepson, David. Grace's relationship with Cliff Harding continues on a rollercoaster ride. Maryellen and Jon Bowman run into financial difficulties. Linette McAfee goes on the date her mother won for her, with Cal Washburn, and has to make a choice. Rachel Pendergast, of Get Nailed fame, reconsiders her relationship with sailor Nate Olsen when she learns of his family background. Allison Cox takes up with a young man who looks like a bad boy. And finally, a tragedy befalls Justine and Seth Gunderson. As usual, Macomber solves some mysteries, tantalises the reader with further cliff-hangers, and dispenses small doses of wisdom and romance along the way. Another enjoyable read.

This book should have been subtitled the "Second Time Around" after the famous song sung by Frank Sinatra. After all it is centered around three mature couples: Grace and Cliff, Charlote and Ben, and Olivia and Jack . "Love is loverier the 2nd time around, just as wonderful with both feet on the ground, it's the second time you hear your love song, makes you think perhaps that love like youth is wasted on the young...." and so the lyrics go as these 3 mature couples fall in love. There is one surprise or maybe not for Corrie and Roy. We meet David Rhodes, Ben's no good son who I have a feeling has something to do with the tragic ending. The Navy couple you met in the first book have a blessing,Seth and Justine, Maryellen and Jon are still in the picture with marriage stressors. Several new characters are introuduced to take us into the next book: Gloria Ashton a single police officer who is new to Cedar Cove, Rachel Pendergast, Bruce Peyton, Lynnette McAfee, and Nate Olsen. Next book will bring the later characters to life.

Someone is sending anonymous postcards to Corrie and Roy McAfee who live at "50 Harbor Street" in Cedar Cove, Washington. Roy is a private investigator who initially thinks the postcards refer to a past case of his, but he soon suspects otherwise. Their daughter Linette recently moved to Cedar Cove to work at the new health center. She is attracted to Dr. Chad Timmons, but much to her dismay, while he doesn't seem interested in her, ranch worker Cal Washburn is. Other residents in Cedar Cove have their own problems and worries. Judge Olivia Lockhart Griffin worries about her husband's weight and eating habits and pushes him to exercise with disastrous consequences. Olivia's mother Charlotte recently married Ben Rhodes and is pleased when Ben's son David reaches out to her, but Ben warns her that David may not be what he seems to be. Navy wife Cecilia Randall is pregnant, but having lost a baby daughter shortly after giving birth, she is very nervous about losing this baby and it doesn't help that her husband Ian is at sea. Cecilia isn't the only one worried about her pregnancy, Maryellen Bowman is pregnant and having complications that may force her husband Jon to make a painful decision.

"50 Harbor Street" is a good soap opera like book. Debbie Macomber is a good storyteller who creates characters that are real and that readers care about. Although the book focuses mainly on the McAfee's, there are numerous subplots going on. Macomber will focus on one set of characters in one chapter, another set in the next chapter, yet another set in the next and so on throughout the book which can be confusing. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for which character is featured and I often had to flip back to see what had happened several chapters back. There is a character guide in the front of the book, which is helpful, but in the future it would be better if Macomber cut back on the number of plots and characters in the books. With so many characters, Macomber does an amazing job of continuity through all the books (this is the fifth in an ongoing series), even referencing things in past books, although there is no mention of Nate's girlfriend which was a conflict in his relationship with Rachel in past books. While some of the plots in the book are unique, like the threatening postcards, other plots are a bit repetitive - isn't there one woman in Cedar Cove that can have a complication free pregnancy?

Fans of Debbie Macomber and especially fans of her Cedar Cove series will enjoy this book.

The best part of the Cedar Cove series is finding out what is happening to characters who now seem like old friends. The featured couple in this book are Roy and Corrie McAfee who are receiving mysterious post cards from someone who forces them to look at their past. At the same time their daughter Linnette is moving back to town and Corrie tries to introduce her daughter to a young man she wants her to date. Olivia and Jack Griffin face a crisis in their marriage just as her mother Charlotte begins her new life with Ben Rhodes. There are romances, pregnancies, and births among the younger set, and an unfortunate fire which destroys a Cedar Cove landmark. Author Macomber does a good job of creating new situations for her characters and keeping up reader interest. The next book in the series will be 6 Ranier Drive, which will feature Seth and Justine Gunderson.

This Debbie Macomber book features the family at 50 Cedar Cove and the lives of those who live around them. Living in small town Cedar Cove everyone knows everyone else's business. This particular novel by Debbie Macomber blends chapter by chapter into the life of different couples. It was a refreshing change of pace and has a character summary in the front of the book for quick reference, so you can know the relationships of one another.

One thing I found particularly interesting and likable is the fact that two women are expecting and experiencing two different pregnancies. I've found in most novels they focus on pregnancy condition to add conflict but this just adds to the feeling of living in a real small town with all its ups and downs. We never know what another is going through until we hear their story and this seems to be a sub-theme of the book.

Love, romance and drama makes this book worth reading and the mystery of the postcard, however repetitive, allows suspense and intrigue you don't normally find in a small town setting. On the downside there seems to be some confusion in the attempt to include so many characters into one book, but not overly disappointing, just different.

In Cedar Grove, Washington, private detective Roy McAfee and his wife Corrie are undergoing mixed emotions. They are elated that their daughter Linette is in town, but shook up by the harassing anonymous letters that imply their past will soon catch up to them. Roy applies his investigative skills to uncover what the stalker knows, why the person is sending the letters and who he or she is. Still both feel the pressure, behaving testy and unsure with one another, but that does not stop mom from matchmaking Linette with Cal at a dog and bachelor auction.

Meanwhile other townsfolk go on with their lives. Cal's boss Grace Sherman has given up on Cliff Harding while her married daughter Mary faces a difficult pregnancy so soon after a miscarriage. Charlotte and Ben Rhodes are happy newlyweds until his son David from a previous relationship invites them to his home. Cecelia Randall is euphoric but frightened as she is five months pregnant, her spouse is at sea, and they lost one child already. Though many tribulations face these locals and others, life goes on in Cedar Grove.

As with the previous four Cedar Grove tales, there is a prime story line focused on one couple enhanced by mini subplots on other town residents. This time the center is held by the McAfee couple happy that their child is home but fearing the shame of a secret being revealed. Folks from the previous tales also have their lives looked at, but on a smaller scale and not just those quickly patched together in paragraph two above. Meandering and frequently switching focus, fans will enjoy visiting 50 HARBOR STREET.

Ms. Macomber is a talented, prolific writer who has created a wonderful "small town" named Cedar Cove. This town has so many fun, interesting, brooding people that the reader can't help but feel as if they belong as well.

In her latest effort we follow as Roy and Corrie come to terms with who is leaving notes behind, while trying to figure out just why this is happening. Corrie is still trying to make a match for her daughter Linnette, and Linnette is still trying to avoid that match. Linnette also has a new friend that she has connected with but has no idea that they are connected in the grand scheme of things.

More questions are asked, more happy ending are found. This is truly a series that you will want to start with at the beginning but even if you are new to this series this is still a fun and entertaining read.

I love this series so much. This series is such a fast easy read which I think can go around all the time. The couples are very nice, and they feel like they progress in through all of the book. It leaves me wanting more which is great in all around.

I love Debbie Macomber books. Really, I do. I have an entire shelf full of them and my kindle is full of them too. She is entertaining and at the top of her career as a romance writer. She generally crafts characters that are three dimensional and entertaining and easy to identify with. Sadly, I did not feel that was the case with this book. It was almost like she wrote it because she had to and put very little of herself in it. I hate to be negative about something done by such a prolific author, but to me at least, this book was somewhat of a disappointment. I couldn't ever get to the point that I liked Roy and Corries long-lost daughter after what she put them through. Who would do something like that and then just expect to be welcomed with open arms into the family? She's lucky she still had parents to come home to after pulling the crap she pulled. I'm surprised they didn't both have heart attacks while stressing over who was postal-stalking them. I found that I couldn't really grasp Linette's character either as she just seemed so self absorbed the entire time.

definitely not my favorite book in the Cedar Cove series.

As good as the rest of the books in this series but I did not like that the "sexual" scenes were too detailed. I prefer cleaner books normally but since those scenes are not overdone (in frequency) I just try to quickly scan past them. Other than that I enjoy all her books.

There's something about this series that warms my heart. The sense of true community and friendship, and especially forgiveness and understanding, in this tight-knit small town makes me wish I lived in such a place. Debbie Macomber's style of writing makes the book move along nice and smoothly. Having read the previous books in the series so long ago, and with so many characters to keep track of, I wondered if I'd be able to keep up and follow along with this new story, yet the author does an excellent job of refreshing old storylines without being repetitive. I loved this book and cannot wait to read 6 Ranier.

at the beginning of the Cedar Cove Series. I didn't and was very confused because there are so many characters and relationships to keep track of. If you read the first book first, and then follow in sequence, it is much more enjoyable an experience. Each book sets the stage for the next one...sorta like a cliffhanger...so you really can follow the lives of the Cedar Cove citizens better if you start with the first book and read in order.

This community of over 7,000 people is astonishing to read about. Who could include so many different story angles into one book as well as Debbie Macomber does. If you start this series, make sure you start with the first book. You'll be disappointed if you skip certain books in the series.

Alas, I was unable to finish this book. I've read other books by Macomber and enjoyed them. This one had way too much wandering around in it. In the first 14 chapters (30% of the book), over 30 characters were introduced. Sometimes there was a last name, sometimes not, and than in a later chapter the character would be introduced again, this time with a last name. Every chapter jumped to a different set of characters so it quickly became jumbled. Bottom line, unless a good editor takes hold of this book, I don't recommend it.

Though better than the previous one, this series is just getting too syrupy for me. And if Macomber is going to have a teenager as a character she should never have them putting on a housecoat - a robe, a cover-up, but nothing that sounds as old as something that their grandmother would wear.

This book covers the lives of Corrie and Roy, the local private investigator that have been receiving gift baskets and postcards with subtle messages. Seems that there is a little secret in their past that has now surfaced. Not too surprising, but most of the book is then tied up too neatly.

In the past I have enjoyed Macomber's books as a nice break from harder edged things, but the last two just make the women sound too much like victims to the whims of the men in their lives.

But, if you like your books with whipped cream and a cherry on top, well then, this is for you.

I enjoyed the first part of the book at story development, however somewhere in the middle it became somewhat too unreal. The women were portrayed too bull-headed and men were lacking common sense and reasonable judgement. Just how fast they came to resolve all their differences (almost if the blink of an eye - in span of one conversation) just does not make it real at all. I have enjoyed most of Fern's books but this one happy ending felt just uncharacteristic of her writing. It felt as if she was under the gun to write this book and did not get a chance to edit it.

This is just my humble opinion on this book.

Debbie always tries to give the best of her thought for her readers. As a result we keep on searching for more of her books.

In this 5th book of the cedar cove town, Debbie shows the concern that each character has for each other. She continues by bringing the pass of Mr. and Mrs. McAfee into their present, which started to heat up the story more. If you don't believe me, then I recommend that you get the book and read it for yourself if you have not read it yet.

I enjoyed reading this book a lot and I have just started the six book of this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down! I wish we didn't have to wait another year for the next one! She is my favorite author, even though I read others in between. I have to say that I have enjoyed each and every book of hers that I have read; I have a large collection. I highly recommend her books. You will love all the characters and one named Gloria will surprise you. I don't want to give away the story, so I suggest you purchase the book and enjoy; you won't regret it!

I enjoyed all the storylines but Roy and Corrie's was the best the revelation of who's been sending them all those notes was wonderfully done and very creative. On other fronts Cecelia's pregnant and worried this pregnancy will turn out like the last. Maryellen's also pregnant and having complications which put a strain on her and Jon's life. Linette's got a crush on a doctor but Corrie thinks she'd be better off with horse trainer Cal. Charlotte begins her new life with Ben.

I have been reading the Cedar Cove series since its beginning and after I finish each book, I want to move there. I love the people, their lives and how they overcome the difficulties and setbacks they encounter. I enjoy these books immensely and look forward to the yearly event when the next one comes out. These characters feel like family, it's an easy read, and I just love them. Start at the beginning and you too will fall in love with the people of Cedar Cove, WA.

I really liked the story of Corrie and Roy but the whole book skipping from nieghbor to neighbor by chapters, I found to be irritating. As one reviewer wrote, "the book was disjointed". Hopefully authors will realize that the reader wants to story to flow. This is why I quit reading the James Patterson series of books. I just don't like chopped up stories.

That is my humble opinion.

I have read a few Debbie Macomber novels in no particular order. After reading 50 Harbor Street, it's time to read them in chronological order. I thought the story line and characters were timely and realistic. My criticism is the ending - it was rather abrupt. A short and concise epilogue would have added a nice final touch.

I was disappointed in this book, after reading A Good Yarn, this one fell flat on it's face. The ending was no ending at all, leaving a character POSSIBLY going to jail.

It was as if another writer wrote this book.
