I enjoyed reading Any Dream Will Do. For awhile I felt sorry for Shay when her brother took advantage of her I liked the way she bounced back. I have a kindle and can't wait until all of her books are available. I have 153 books on kindle and on paperback , some of the paperbacks are 2 stories in one

I usually enjoy Debbie Macomber's books -- I am especially fond of the Blossom Street books and the Cedar Cove series. I should have liked this book but it didn't ring true to me, mostly because the characters didn't work for me.

Shay seemed altogether too "good" and wholesome for someone who had been involved with gangs and in an abusive relationship with a drug user and dealer. She didn't show any outward or inward signs of being involved with that lifestyle. The part of her story that I was looking forward to reading was turning her life around at the Hope Center and really changing her heart but that was glossed over too quickly. Drew was so much a caricature of the earnest minister who lost his way to grief that I couldn't get excited about him as a romantic hero.

If you are familiar with the author's books, you will know that she writes "clean" (i.e. no sex) romances. I appreciate that but given the characters, it seems like the absence of sex should have been something that was a part of the story. As ex-girlfriend of a gang member, Shay would have been sexually active so it was weird to have her be all fluttery about a simple kiss. Even in the Blossom series, the author wrote about this conflict between a woman with a past and a church-going man in one of the love stories and did a much better job of it.

If you are comparing this to one of the shorter "inspirational" romances from publishers like Steeple Hill, this is definitely a better book. But I had higher expectations from this author so it fell short for me. I remain a fan of the Debbie Macomber, just not this book.

An embittered woman just released from prison and worried about her options stops in a church for a minute of peace. There she finds help and hope in the person of the pastor, a man still struggling to make sense of the tragic death of his wife. While it is a struggle to raise to young children, Drew is equally concerned about his loss of faith. In Shay, the woman he meets at the church, he finds renewal and a chance at love. But both must learn to trust and forgive before they have a chance.

This is a readable if unbelieveable book. It is nicely written with no graphic or inappropriate moments. The main weakness is the character of Shay. She is as edgy as a bowl of vanilla pudding. I didn't buy for a second her tale of woe. She is way to wholesome to have willingly walked on the wild side, run with a gang, slept with a vile meth head dealer. Her crime was one where she did the wrong thing for the right reason and her punishment seemed unduly harsh for a non-violent first offender. Her self sacrifice gets truly annoying and she is a goody good to the tenth degree. Even the street people and recovering addicts are viewed through a rosy lens. They are really, really nice, kind and good. The judgmental church goers are gently reprimanded. Drew is rather a namby pamby. He is worried about the appropriateness of dating a woman with Shay's wanton background. Lucky for Mary Magdalene that Jesus was more accepting. The book runs fairly predictably. A pleasant if unrealistic tale.

While I love the message of second chances and redemption that fill this book, the judgmental attitudes of these supposedly ‘Christian’ people irritated the living daylights out of me. I appreciated the examples of giving and service, but it was very difficult for me to get past the preachiness of the story. I’ve read other faith-based romantic works and quite enjoyed them. I can’t identify exactly what it is that didn’t work for me with this book but there’s something about it that just rubs against my grain. Maybe it’s because it’s too predictable or because the answers are too pat. I realize that faith-based fiction will show the Higher Power working in people’s lives, but I still expect to witness character growth, not a Deus ex machina fait accompli. (And yes, I realize I’m mixing my languages and phrases, however the pair fit together here.) I want to see characters working to find their answers rather than “God, please help me…” and poof, like a fairy godmother, there’s the solution wrapped in sparkly paper and a neat bow. Okay, so maybe I do know what it was that bugged me about this.

Any Dream Will Do by Debbie Macomber sucked me in right from the beginning and I couldn't believe that it was 352 pages long. It felt like 100. It is delightful, warm and entirely a 'feel good' book. And... just a little different to her other books to make me sigh with happiness when I had finished.

I loved the characters. Shay is a little hard edged to begin with, but then her life has been no picnic and she has had it tough since childhood. Now being 'played' by her brother and having just completed three years imprisonment, she is in danger of being out on the street until she meets Drew Douglas.

Sure Drew is a pastor, but he is still in depression after losing his wife Katie and could himself be in danger of losing his role at the church. However in reaching out to help Shay he finds friends who reach out a hand to him and lift him up and out. He has two adorable children Mark and Sarah, they take up a good space in the story and I really liked that.

As well there are a circle of people around Drew and Shay who are minor characters but are mostly very likeable or a little prickly but redeemable. There are a couple of homeless men who caught my attention, both wonderful and showed a side of Shay that said so much about her. I would have liked to see a little more of them.

There is a little bit of mystery towards the end that seems to put Shay in danger of losing what she has worked so hard for. That mystery wasn't difficult to work out ( I think the reader was meant to do so), but it all works out of course.

A charming, warm and uplifting story.

Shay Benson loves her brother. So much so, that she knowingly commits a crime to save him and lands in prison for it.

Now finished with her sentence, her brother gone since the day she was jailed and with only a few dollars to her name, Shay is at a loss as to what to do next. Her decision is to stop into a church to get out of the cold and think. That choice winds up saving her life by providing her with a second chance.

Drew Douglas, the widowed Pastor of the church Shay enters and father to two young children, finds Shay in his church that day. Talking with Shay at length, he decides that there's a good woman here who would benefit from the local Home Center. With help to get her frame of mind back and the return of self-esteem while having a place to eat and rest her head each night Shay would be able to hold her head high again.

Neither Shay nor Drew imagined that their meeting that day would have such an impact on both of their lives. ANY DREAM WILL DO is a true Macomber story. Filled with depth and heart, Debbie's characters take us on their spiritual journey and have us cheering them on until the last page. (In this case, I'd love to find out how Shay, Drew, Mark and Sarah are faring two years later! Hint, hint!)
I was given a galley proof to read in exchange for an honest review.

After a rough start in life and a history that includes gangs, drugs and a violent boyfriend, Shay Benson is making a fresh start. Having just completed a community program and accepting a bank job, she is full of hope for a bright future that just might obliterate her past. But when her brother, Caden, desperately needs money and begs her to steal it from her employer, Shay begrudgingly complies. As chapter one of ANY DREAM WILL DO comes to an end, Shay is heading to jail. Her brother disappears with the money, her dreams are dashed, and her future is now dark and hopeless.

Having done her time, Shay leaves jail behind, but this second “fresh start” feels much duller than the last one. She has no friends or family except the brother she never heard from during her three years in prison, and has nowhere to live. She hops the nearest bus and is dropped off in front of a church, where she meets Drew Douglas, the pastor. Unbeknownst to Shay, Drew is wallowing in his own hopelessness, having buried his wife four years earlier. In his grief, Drew disconnected from his friends, grew weak in his faith, and wondered if he would ever truly recover from his wife’s death. He immediately feels a sense of purpose upon meeting Shay and takes her to a place called Hope Center, which is run by his friend.

That simple act of kindness changes the trajectory of Shay’s life as she is provided with a place to live, takes classes, makes friends and eventually lands a job. But Shay isn’t the only one impacted by Drew’s kindness. The broken pastor reconnects with the friend who runs Hope Center, and through that friendship and his emerging feelings for Shay, his faith and hope start to fire up again.

Shay and Drew are both excited about their budding, unexpected romantic feelings for each other. Drew’s son and daughter are more than happy with Shay being in the picture, but certain members of the congregation are not thrilled with their pastor pairing up with someone who has a shady past. As Shay tries to earn the trust of her new employer, the congregation and community, she finds herself learning to trust again as well. Despite a violent attack by her ex-boyfriend, Shay focuses on the positive while growing in her faith. Life seems to finally be back on track, until the night her brother comes knocking at her door with a secret that could once again change the course of her life and destroy her dreams.

As always, highly acclaimed author Debbie Macomber creates a sweet romance, a compelling plot and likable characters. Hope, healing and second chances weave their magic beautifully through ANY DREAM WILL DO, which is a wonderful book to read and share.

ANY DREAM WILL DO is the fourth book in the New Beginnings series. I’m going to guess that they each stand alone. I did not know that it was part of a series until I completed reading and started to write up the information for this review. Now I wish I had the rest of the books!

I have read many Debbie Macomber books over the years and I love the Mrs. Miracle movies at Christmas time. So, I was thrilled to be contacted about reading and reviewing this story for Ballantine Books.

Courage and faith are common themes in Ms. Macomber’s books, but they are put to the test here. Shay has paid dearly for her misplaced misguided loyalty to her brother. So many people in this story learn to open up, to look beyond the obvious, and to be more Christian as they should.

It is a wonderful, feel-good, story in the best of ways. It has kept me smiling through some of the toughest of days.

Note: while I was given this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

I loved this book! I would of given 10 stars if they were available. I started reading some of Debbie Macomber "Blossom Street" books several years ago when I had purchased a yacht from Port Orchard. We spent a lot of time in our boat reading during the summers when cruising the islands I love Debbie Macomber's style of writing. I was amazed when I found out she's from Port Orchard. I always wanted to meet her. Ha! Small world. Anyway, I would breeze through her Blossom books because I just couldn't put them down. So when I saw this book offered in Vine, I had to have it! And once again I just breezed through it, and I loved it! My idealistic heart was disappointed in the ending but that's ok. It's still a fabulous book! It starts out about Shay Benson, her brother Caden. Both were drowning in their sorrows but Caden was also doing drugs and got into trouble with some very evil men. He insisted Shay still money from her employer (bank) to pay off his bad loan or he would be killed by them. Shay got the money but was caught and subsequently ended up in prison. She and Caden had no family so Shay was all alone and didn't want to have anything more to do with her brother. She stays locked up for 3 years. I believe. Upon her release, she had no where to go. Only a few hundred dollars in her pocket that wasn't going to last very long. She ends up in a church praying and asking God for help. The pastor (Drew) there introduces himself and asks about her. Once she tells him about her predicament he's very helpful in finding a shelter for her and a recovery program at Hope Center. Shay wants to get help as she doesn't want to end up like before. The Hope Center counselor, Lilly, works with Shay to face all her demons and dry-out once and for all. At first Shay is working against Lilly, but she finally grasps what and why she's there and what to do to reach her goals. Isn't easy, but Shay pushes through. She ends up having Lilly as a friend. The pastor, Drew, keeps checking out how she's doing. At first it's just a vested interest in her recovery. BUT evidently each recognize they have feelings for each other, and they keep suppressing these feelings as off limits. Drew's daughter, Sarah, has already met Shay at Sunday school at the church and were fast friends. Before long Shay is friends with the entire family, and she babysits Sarah and Mark for pastor Drew. Their mother died years ago, and their father (Drew) really hasn't recovered but wants to though and even has thought about dating again. And he finally admits he wants to date Shay but it could be too early so he wants to date others as well. But when he thinks about Shay dating this guy from the restaurant where she works, he's miserable. He finally has to fess up that he's falling for Shay. Shay's old drug-dealer boyfriend is mistakenly released early from prison and tracks down Shay. He shows up demanding to know where Caden is. But Shay keeps telling him she doesn't know where her brother is. He doesn't believe her and physically beats her almost to death.....I'd better stop here as getting too carried away. If you want to know what happens, you'll have to read the book. It's well worth the time!

Debbie Macomber has done it again. This book is exactly what I needed to read right now. It has everything. There is betrayal, anger, forgiveness, family loss, unsuspecting emotions, friendship, loyalty, respect, acceptance, love, unsuspecting emotions, and second chances. There is also a Christian theme running throughout the story that is necessary to the storyline.

Shay Benson was a character that grew in leaps and bounds in this book. She went from a bitter, angry, knocked down woman to someone who believed in herself and her talents, thanks to the Hope Centre where she received counselling and education. The Douglas family is getting by, four years after the loss of their wife and mother Katie. Pastor Drew is a clergyman who's faith is shaky and Shay was just what he needed. His character also changed dramatically over the course of this book. He was always a wonderful father, but he grew as a loving human being who was able to become a better Pastor and father. The narration was done in alternating chapters with Shay and Drew which gave different perspectives to some of the same scenarios. The book flowed smoothly and came to a wonderful conclusion. Several bumps along the way, added to the buildup of the story. Yes, this is a feel good book, but it is a story that is believable. That is exactly what I want when I pick up a book by Debbie Macomber. If you are looking for a book to make you feel good, go through a range of emotions and root for the characters, then pick this one up. You will not be disappointed.

Shay Benson served three years after taking money form the bank where she worked to help her younger brother, Caden, pay off his drug supplier--and save his life. It's time she never wanted to spend, but she didn't have anyone left in her life to keep her or Caden out of harm's way.

Now freed, she has $100 and some hand-me-down clothes with which to begin again. Tired and cold in the December weather, Shay stops into a church to find a little warmth. She also find Pastor Drew Douglas, a man still fighting his grief over the passing of his beloved wife three years prior. Pastor Drew makes it his mission to help Shay find shelter, and his connection with a womens' center gets Shay not just a place to stay, but also counseling and job training. Over the course of a year, Shay and Drew see each other sporadically. His friend runs her jobs program, and she sometimes watches his daughter in a center-sponsored childcare. Both his children, surprisingly, gravitate toward Shay and want to include her in family dinners and special moments. It's not long before Drew acknowledges his own attraction to Shay's gentle nature and abundant kindness.

Though, it's not all easy. Drew's parishoners aren't keen on him marrying an ex-con--not when there are so many "decent" women to marry. And, Drew's bombarded by offers on many side before he recognizes that Shay is the gal for him. Naturally, there are some crises, and Shay falls under suspicion of wrong-doing--only to have things turn out sunny in the end.

I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of religious romance, but I really appreciate the delicate position of a minister looking for love. It brings an interesting gravitas to a romance. There's no steam here, but there are plenty of feels. Drew's plagued by doubt and guilt--in his faith and his love. Shay's a good woman who had a bad start in life, and she's paid her dues more than twice. I was glad she found a good stable man to love her, but she's not going to take any guff from him either. I sure liked the 'atta girl moments, and had a few times where I shook the bed holding in my laughter. Poor Pastor! Those eligible ladies sure had high hopes, and he's called tot he carpet a few times defending Shay from some nasty allegations. Expect a hefty helping of redemption in this one, and all the folks who initially cast a gimlet eye on Shay ended up being smitten with her in the end. Its a sweet read, and I enjoyed it. I read a review copy via NetGalley.

5 "Faith, Love & 2nd Chances" Stars for the story and narration!

I've been meaning to try a book for Debbie Macomber for some time now. The blurb for Any Dream Will Do finally made me to give Ms. Macomber a try, and boy did I pick a great first book to sample Ms. Macomber's works! I absolutely loved the faith and hope-filled message in this story that provides inspiration that even those who have had the hardest luck and lived in dire straights are worthy of second chances and finding their HEA to boot! Moreover, the splendid narration by narrating duo Mark Deakins and Laurel Rankin make this a great choice for your next audiobook credit!

Shay Benson feels guilty for introducing her younger brother, Caden, to Shooter, her outlaw ex-boyfriend. So when Caden comes to Shay begging for money, claiming that he is dead if he doesn't produce it, Shay does the unthinkable and agrees to steal from her workplace (a bank) with the understanding that Caden will get her the money back in time to replace it before its noticed. Of course, Shay knew this scheme was a long-shot, but she agrees to help her brother anyway because she feels responsible and loves him. Therefore its no surprise when she's arrested and convicted of embezzlement and sentenced to a number of years in jail.

Of course Caden promptly disappears and never even contacts Shay during her years in jail. A few years later when she completes her sentence and is released, she's completely alone and doesn't have anyone to turn to. Fortunately for Shay, however, she has the good fortune of stumbling into a church and meeting Pastor Drew Douglas.

Pastor Drew Douglas has had his fair share of misfortune, including the death of his wife and the mother of his kids. Its been several years since her death, but he hasn't been able to recover from the crippling depression. His mental state has even started to affect his congregation which is now in financial trouble.

But that fortuitous day when Shay meets Pastor Drew by chance ushers in a sequence of events, which sets both of their lives on a course of healing and renewal, not to mention an opportunity for experiencing love again. It all commences when Pastor Drew recognizes Shay's need and offers to take her to a rehabilitation center. Shay's accepted into the one-year program and Pastor Drew is reunited with an old friend (the man who runs the rehabilitation center) who also recognizes the need in him and who helps him restart his life through friendships and an exercise in a basketball league. As you can imagine, over that year Pastor Drew's and Shay's paths continue to cross such that once she finally graduates from the program their friendship has grown to such an extent that Pastor Drew introduces her to his children and tries to get additional help from her from the church.

However, not everyone is as forgiving as Pastor Drew, and soon it becomes clear that following his heart and continuing his friendship with Shay may just cost him his position as the pastor of his congregation. With such devastating potential consequences, will true love reign supreme in the end?

Mark Deakins and Laurel Rankin alternate narrating the chapters in Any Dream Will Do based on the point of view being shared. Mr. Deakins narrates the chapters from Pastor Drew's perspective and Ms. Rankin the ones from Shay's perspective. This style works well for this book as it provides a natural division and symmetry between the point of view being shared.

Both Mr. Deakins and Ms. Rankin have natural pleasing voices which made listening to their rendition a pleasure. Additionally, their character differentiation was spot-on, making it easy to know which character was speaking without having to rely on dialogue tags. I also thought that each narrator did a fantastic job with infusing their delivery with the situation specific emotion--a narrator trait that is essential for such an emotional and inspirational story such as this.

If you're looking for a feel-good love story that inspires you to believe in the power of faith, friendships, and love then look no further. Any Dream Will Do is definitely the book you've been looking for. Moreover, for those audiobook lovers like me, the great narration by Mark Deakins and Laurel Rankin make this a title best enjoyed in audio format.

Any Dream Will do by Debbie Macomber – 5 Stars An inspiring Read
Wow, loved this book. I couldn’t sleep very well having some pain issues and this book kept me company all night long. Maybe had I not cracked it open I would have slept, I doubt it. I found this book to be one of the best I have read of Debbie Macombers in a while and she doesn’t really write bad books. I just think this one was different. If you are looking for a great faith based book, this book involves a female fresh out of prison, Shay Benson and a Pastor Drew Douglas. He lost the love of his life, leaving him with two children daughter and son, who are a bit of a handful. After over the third year, with his flock behind him, although they wish he can get so he can move on and back to his old self or something like that.
He is thinking in that way also, when he runs into Shay in the church where she came in to get out of the cold he talks to her, she doesn’t keep her past life a secret from anyone ever. He helps Shay to get into a place to take some classes do some volunteer work, help her get on her feet. The woman who runs the place asks what her dreams are. She says she doesn’t have dreams any more, she had them and she lost it all. She said just go wild let your mind think on it and any dream will do, once you start dreaming again, you find that once you open that door more come that way. There is always a lot of work in making your dreams come true, especially for an ex con…but everyone has to work to make their dreams come true. The easy ones aren’t as appreciated.

He eventually runs into her again when she comes to church and she invites him to her graduation. He and his kids accept. The story just takes off and he finds that he has feelings for this woman, who can’t hardly believe that any man fit to be with would want her so she has lots of doubts, and his children love her also. I know I should re-read this and write it over, I’m just trying to the review up as promised. I’ve started another book and it isn’t always easy to write about a book after a few days go by and I’ve been reading along a different track.
This book is really well worth the price. It’s a great read. For those who give their word and never ever want to go back on it will really connect with this book and those with a need to reconnect with faith.
This kindle book was given to me in exchange for an honest review from “Net Galley”.
Description as found on Good Reads:
Shay Benson adored her younger brother, Caden, and that got her into trouble. When he owed money, Shay realized she would do anything to help him avoid the men who were threatening him, and she crossed lines she never should have crossed. Now, determined to start fresh, she finds herself in search of a place to stay and wanders into a church to escape from the cold.

Pastor Drew Douglas adored his wife. But when he lost her, it was all he could do to focus on his two beautiful kids, and his flock came in a distant third. Now, as he too is thinking about a fresh start, he walks through his sanctuary and finds Shay sitting in a pew.

The pair strike up a friendship—Drew helps Shay get back on her feet, and she reignites his sense of purpose—that, over time, turns into something deeper, something soulful, spiritual, and possibly romantic. Even Drew’s two children are taken with this woman who has brought light back into their lives. Perhaps most important, Shay learns to trust again as she, in turn, proves herself trustworthy to her adopted community.

But Caden’s return to town and a disastrous secret threaten to undo the life Shay has tried so hard to rebuild. It will take the utmost courage and faith if she and Drew hope to find healing and open their hearts to a

hay Benson stepped off the bus in downtown Seattle and realized that she was on her own. She had a little money but nowhere to go. No family, no home. Just released from Purdy Corrections Center, the real world was staring her in the face and it was overwhelming. And cold! Without thinking she walked into a church near the bus stop. Of all the unlikely places to go she found herself in a church and found herself asking God, "You got anything for me?"

As in answer, a man looked over his shoulder and Shay realized she was not so alone after all. Pastor Drew Douglas was deep in his own prayer as one who felt he was at his wits end. His wife died from cancer, his church attendance was down and he could use some help with his two children. Even after three years he couldn't seem to get on with things without her.

This quiet meeting between Shay and Drew sets the tone for a wonderful story of faith, courage, second chances and love.

Any Dream Will Do is the latest novel from beloved author Debbie Macomber. Written with well developed characters, the book is full of hope for those who seem to have lost their hope. Shay has faced trouble since the death of her mother. Her father was bitter and abusive and she was responsible for her younger brother Caden. When she is seduced by the promise of love and escape from her father by her boyfriend Shooter, she finds instead an uglier world with a dangerous gang leader. Her brother is also drawn into this lifestyle and her story begins to spiral out of control. The love she has for her brother leads her to embezzle money to ward off gang members greedy for him to repay a loan. Off to prison she went without another word from Caden.

Drew was startled from his prayers by Shay and immediately rose to help her. With his help she was able to enter Hope Center, a program that was designed for women who needed a second chance. The program had strict guidelines but she worked hard, graduated from the program and was ready for her new life with a new job and a new home.

Shay was grateful to Drew for seeing her as she could be, not as the woman who served time in a prison. Her life was not easy yet it was better than she could remember. She found her faith and it stood her in good stead when troubles came her way. Life doesn't always prepare you for those times when your past encroaches like an unwelcome guest. With Drew's help she finds her way.

Drew had faith in Shay and when things threatened to hurt her he was at her side. As her past came to light to more members of the congregation, doubt reared its head. Shay's resilience was admirable. This is a well written story for anyone who has ever doubted their own courage to dream for a better situation in life. It is uplifting and enjoyable. When asked what her dreams were, Shay couldn't answer. She was told, "Any dream will do." These four words were used more than once and were such an encouraging theme. Many thanks to NetGalley and Ballantine books for the opportunity to review this book.

I love Debbie Macomber's Christmas stories. I haven't read too many of her books that aren't set during Christmas time so this was a fun change of pace for me and her books. I really enjoyed it! I enjoyed the different characters, the pacing, the lapse of time, the theme, the plot. Definitely an all around good read.

Shay is one of those characters that you feel torn about. Not torn in a bad way but torn because you see the struggle and dilemma that she is faced with and you are torn hoping the choices she makes would be a little different. Now if she followed those choices then the novel wouldn't be what it is of course. So you sit back, keep reading, turning pages and silently cheering this character on in your mind. Hoping that her goodness will be seen and her trust in others with be worth the risk.

Drew, another character you're torn about. Someone who has lost a strong foundation in his life. He's trying to rebuild it but struggling with the load and pain of the labor. He's floundering under the heavy load, and when he is at his breaking point, there's a lightening, a lifting off of the weight. Not all at once but slowly and the ability to breath and keep building that foundation is possible again.

Two characters from two completely different backgrounds are brought together. Alone they struggle and are drowning but together their ability to succeed and inspire and help those around them is beyond what anyone would or could imagine. Especially considering their vast differences.

That might seem very vague but it truly summarizes this story and the two main characters. Of course there is so much more involved because I haven't added any details or information about the other characters who also play a part in the growth and change. There's lots of pain, sorrow, heartache, loss of dreams, hope, trust, healing, love, peace, friendship (especially the very unlikeliest of friendships), anger, feeling of absolute loss after hope, forgiveness, safety, redemption, acceptance, prejudice, achievements.

I probably could keep going but I'll stop there with all my descriptive words.

I was very invested in these characters while reading. I've decided that they're my new book friends. Shay and Drew and many more, Lilly, Richard. Yep most definitely my new book friends. As I was writing my previous review I realized that that book was also very similar in themes and the process of healing and redemption. Two completely different storylines except for those themes. I love how no matter the story or situation, those themes are always very prevalent and true in any aspect of our lives. This is a Christian fiction novel for sure but for those who aren't Christian and don't believe that, I still believe that everyone has that feeling of hope or the desire of hope in their lives. Hope for a better future, hope to do well, hope to overcome mistakes. Hope for something.

If you are or are not a Debbie Macomber fan, I highly recommend this book. It's different than other books I've read by her, and yet it's similar. Read it, savor it and hopefully you'll fall in love with the characters like I did.

Content: Clean. Talk of drug use, but nothing graphic. Talk of past relationships but nothing graphic. Kisses, the couple talks about not having a physical relationship until after marriage. A character gets attacked by a gang member.

I received a copy from the publisher, Random House Publishing-Ballantine, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

"When we worry, we take reality and move it into the realm of fiction. What is real is transferred into the land of monsters and dragons, which are far bigger and frightening than they really are."

Shay Benson has dreams. Dreams of a future, being married, raising a family and perhaps finding a job in which her love of numbers becomes a reality. In fact getting a job as a bank teller is almost too good to be true. It seems as if her life is looking up now that her ex-boyfriend, Shooter has gone to jail for what could be life so now the choices she makes from now on will be her own. Until her brother Caden shows up on her front door step begging for money. She doesn't have much but she is willing to give him all she has saved. Yet when Caden tells her he needs $5000, it is out of her hands. Her brother tells her that he will be killed if he doesn't find a way to get the money and he can pay it all back by the end of the week. He tells Shay to take it from the bank, since they won't know its missing until he can repay it. Stuck between that proverbial rock and a hard place, Shay knows she shouldn't but she also knows she can't watch the only family she has left face being killed either.

Now three years later, she is finally getting another chance on life after being released from prison. She has no family and of course, once she loaned her brother the money, he took off and she never heard from his again, even knowing it would cost her everything. She has no where to go and her only hope had been from an elderly Christian woman who wrote to her in prison that told her to trust God and He would look out for her. Yeah like that would ever happen for Shay. Look where God has gotten her up to this point. Being dropped off in the middle of the day right in front of church, she at least figured she's go inside and try to think things through.

When Pastor Drew Douglas sees Shay in his church, he is immediately drawn to offer her help. He knows of a place where Shay might be able to get a second chance if she can endure their year long program. If she does, she will walk out of the Hope Center with a job and a place to stay. He just doesn't expect her to provide him the desperate help he needs after losing his wife, 3 years ago to cancer. His church is fall apart and church attendance is down, not to mention, his young children Sarah and Mark, who need a mother's touch and lately all the well-meaning women from the church just haven't measured up. Now with Shay trying to make a fresh start on her life, she needs to stay away from everything in her past if she is to make a new future for herself. She just never expected someone responsible and respectable as Drew would see her for what she is, not what she did in her past.

I received Any Dream Will Do by Debbie Macomber compliments of Ballantine Books, Random House Publishing and Net Galley. This is such a wonderful novel and would almost line up as a Christian novel except for a random profane word uttered from a church member. The theme is truly about second chances and for not judging people by their appearance, or in this case their past. Too often people hold us accountable based on our pasts and not where we are at today. As Christians it is our duty to show people forgiveness and not condemnation and give everyone a second chance at making better futures for themselves. I absolutely LOVE this novel and can't wait for more from Debbie Macomber in the future. I easily give this one a 5 out of 5 stars in this reader's opinion.

This book is all about taking responsibility for our actions, second chances, finding faith and finally finding love.

Shay Benson ran with a bad crowd. Her boyfriend, Shooter, was a drug user and dealer who ended up in prison for murder. Shay made a decision to help save her brother, Caden, and it landed her in prison for 3 years for a felony. On the cold December day she gets out of prison, there is nobody there to greet her and she has nowhere to go. Shay takes her small suitcase and a few hundred dollars and catches a bus to downtown Seattle. After getting off the bus and wondering what to do and where to go to get warm, she sees a church across the street. Shay isn't a religious person but if the church is open and warm, what's the harm in hanging out there until she figures out what to do?

Drew Douglas, a widowed father of two and the pastor of Seattle Calvary church, sees Shay sitting in a pew at the back of the church and decides to see if she needs help. Although she initially says no, Drew presses onward and ends up getting her in touch with his friend Kevin who runs the Hope Center. Shay applies for the year long program there to help women turn their lives around and give them the opportunity for a second chance. It is not an easy program but Shay knows she needs to do this so she can move on with her life and find the future she dreams of. During her year at Hope Center, Shay finds friendship, trust, her inner strength and her faith.

Shay is pleased that Drew has checked on her a few times over her year at Hope Center and invites him to her graduation from the program, unsure if he will come. Drew does come to the graduation and brings his children, Sarah and Mark, along with a huge bouquet of flowers. Shay and the children immediately like one another. Drew is impressed with the changes that Shay has made. He begins to think about dating again which surprises him since he felt that part of him had died with his soulmate.

As Shay and Drew spend more time together and become friends, they both feel there could be something more for them. Drew's church is his life so it is important that they accept Shay if their relationship is going to progress but will the congregation feel the same way about her that Drew does? Will Shay's past come back to haunt her in the present? There are a lot of bumps in the road for this couple to overcome.

This is a beautiful book. Ms Macomber created a fascinating storyline and wonderful characters. I had a hard time with the first chapter because I don't typically enjoy heroines that let others use them but the beginning is an integral part of the story of Shay. I enjoyed Shay's journey in this book but I would have liked a bit more of her experiences at Hope Center to be included in the storyline. Drew's world fell apart when Katie died and I really felt his grief throughout the book. I love Drew's children- they are good kids and they want a mother figure in their lives. Richard and Chuck are interesting characters and I would like to know a bit more about them. I appreciate that these homeless characters are portrayed in a positive light. There are quite a few heavy topics mentioned in this book- drug and alcohol abuse, abusive relationships, stealing, homelessness, grief and depression. This story had me laughing, crying, and rooting for Shay and Drew from the beginning.

I would like to thank Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for the ARC of this book. I have voluntarily provided an honest review.

ANY DREAM WILL DO, a sweet romance by best-selling author Debbie Macomber, is a beautiful story of faith, love, acceptance, forgiveness and second chances. The two main characters, Shay Benson and Pastor Drew Douglas, take turns telling their story, chapter by chapter.

Despite her rough childhood and many poor choices made as an adult, Shay finds a good job in a bank. She has her own apartment and is getting her life together when her drug addicted brother Caden unexpectedly shows up. He is in trouble and needs money, and he talks Shay into doing something that lands her in prison. After her release, she seeks shelter in a church while she tries to figure out what to do next.
Drew, a widower with two children, finds her there and arranges for her to enter a program to help her put her life back together. As their affection for each other grows and becomes apparent to those around them, questions begin to surface from the church congregation about the appropriateness of a church pastor becoming involved with an ex-con, especially when Shay’s past comes back to haunt her.

There are three main storylines that are all well-written and effortlessly intertwined. There is Drew’s story as he and his family are still trying to recover from the death of his wife. Drew is kind and loving, and he is not sure he’s ready for a new relationship when he meets Shay but he is undeniably drawn to her. There is Shay’s story of redemption as she works to prove, not only to Drew and the world, but most importantly to herself, that she has value. Her love for Drew’s children, her compassion for the homeless people she meets and her growing involvement in Drew’s church are truly heartwarming.

Finally, there is the budding romance between Shay and Drew. It is refreshing to have a couple that is not rushing into a sexual relationship but is instead taking the time to get to know each other before considering where they are going with their new relationship.

ANY DREAM WILL DO is a solid read with complex characters and a believable storyline. While it may be a bit predictable in spots, it is very difficult to find fault with Debbie Macomber’s latest novel. Her fans will be especially pleased, and I also highly recommend it to readers that enjoy a delightful romance that doesn’t depend on explicit sex to tell the story. Those novels are often hard to find!
A future Hallmark movie?

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Shay Benson loves her younger brother, Caden but when he brings trouble to her door, Shay finds out that in helping him, she lost the life she was making for herself. Now released from prison and trying to get back on her feet, Shay discovers that the path to the life she wants is not going to be easy.

Pastor Drew Douglas is lost and lonely after his wife died, leaving him and their two children behind. Drew finds Shay in his church one day and thus begins a journey for these two that will show them their heart’s desire. But as time goes on, Drew and Shay’s friendship evolves and grows and as Shay opens to Drew and lets down her guard, she finds a life worth fighting for. But when her past finds her, can Drew and Shay survive the chaos it causes or will their fragile bond break amid the weight of Shay’s past?

Debbie Macomber is a wonderful storyteller and delivers a heart stirring story of two people who find themselves at a crossroad. I normally enjoy this author’s books and as I was reading ANY DREAM WILL DO, I got sidetracked by all the mentions of religion and god though it didn’t come across as preachy in my opinion. It just moved the story along nicely. I mainly concentrated on Shay and Drew’s growing friendship. Normally I put books down that have an overabundance of religion within the storyline but in this l attest story from one of my favorite authors, I found it to be charming and perfectly written. I loved how Shay and Drew clicked after they first met and I enjoyed seeing these two continue to grow and evolve within the pages of ANY DREEAM WILL DO.

The story isn’t just about Shay and her desire to stay on the straight and narrow but of allowing her guard down to see the opportunities before her, that with hard work she could make that life she always dreamed of happen. Drew is at a standstill ever since his wife died. Meeting Shay leaves him reeling in a good way and he feels like he has awoken from fog. As much as I enjoyed these two main characters apart, together they were electric. I loved the scenes where they tease and flirt with one another, where Shay is interacting with Drew’s kids in a charming sort of way that left me falling just a little bit more in love with her. Shay is sweet, kind, compassionate and determined whereas Drew is trying to take it one day at a time and when he meets up with Shay again after many months apart, he is startled by how much she has changed yet stayed the same. Ms. Macomber has a gift of creating such unique and intriguing characters for readers to love. From Drew and Shay to Mark and Sarah’s love for Shay. Add in some homeless men who Shay befriends and tries to help plus members of Drew’s church well you get a sense of this village that is on Shay’s journey.

ANY DREAM WILL DO is a perfect book if you enjoy second chance stories filled with unbelievable characters that steal your heart, a storyline that is fast paced and keeps you glued to the pages until the very end and an author who is a master storyteller. Ms. Macomber is an auto-buy for myself and I look forward to seeing where she goes next for her readers to enjoy. If you haven’t tried this author before, then this is the perfect book to get started with.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement

Any Dream Will Do by Debbie Macomber is a wonderful heartwarming story about second chances and finding love. Any Dream Will Do begins with Shay Benson, our heroine, making a grave mistake in helping her brother; after serving three years in prison for embezzlement, which during that time, she never heard from her brother again. When Shay is released from prison, she has no money, and has no one to help her; she gets on a bus to nowhere, and ends up in a local church in a small town and desperately prays for some guidance.

Drew Douglas, is the pastor of his church, and when he hears a noise, he realizes that someone has entered the church. Drew himself was deep in prayer, trying to find a way to get past his depression, since the loss of his wife 4 years before. Drew has two children, and he knows he needs to find a way to step out of his mourning for them, as well as he is losing members of his church. When Drew goes to find out who entered, he meets Shay, and he will try to bring her to one of the town’s clinics that help those in need. Shay openly explains that she just got out of prison, but Drew is determined to help the young lady. Shay at first is not too sure she will qualify to be in this program, but she will persevere and slowly change her perspective at having a chance for a new life. She meets many people who will become her friends along the way, which also includes Drew, who will become her friend, as will his two children.

Drew finds himself having a new purpose, and begins to return to the living, winning back his parishioners, his friends, and spending quality time with his daughter and son. Drew also finds himself enjoying spending time with Shay, and how she is with his children. Both know theirs is just a friendship, which has some townspeople not happy, as Shay’s past has them determined to force Drew not to become romantically involved. Those who know Shay, have seen all the good she does helping others, with volunteer work, and the homeless, not to mention how Drew’s children have grown to love her. Shay’s brother and her ex will come back to haunt her, causing more problems, but she is now strong enough to fight them

Even though this was an unlikely pair, their growing romance was so well written and beautiful to see. I loved how Shay was so loving to the children, and to Drew, even though she felt she was not worthy of him. I loved how they both got second chances in life to rise above the trauma of their past; as each needed to learn to trust their hearts, and have faith and hope again
.
Debbie Macomber gives us wonderful story about love, second chances, friendship, issues, and forgiveness. This was a sweet and inspiring story, with a great couple, wonderful children and secondary characters. I strongly suggest you read Any Dream Will Do.

What drew me to this book was that the main character, Shay, reminded me of an earlier character of Macomber's, named Alix, from her Blossom Street series. Alix having been one of my favorite characters in that series, I was curious to see what would be made of Shay's journey.

Reflecting back on the story and considering what I remember of Macomber's previous character Alix, I do have some doubts about her fleshing out of Shay. There were a few tweaks to backstory, and Shay was not as bristly as Alix, but they share a lot of similarities, including that they both fall in love and end up with men of the church (Alix's is a youth pastor, Shay's a primary one). I think some characterization work could have been done, but Shay wasn't a terrible one, just a slightly bland person since I've read so many of Macomber's books at this point.

I liked that, while I knew where the relationship would go the whole time (there's not much mystery in a Debbie Macomber book), it wasn't as overbearing as some romance books can be. The relationship between Shay, Drew, and even Drew's children Sarah and Mark felt more naturally cultivated than forced for the sake of plot.

The first 15-20% of the book went by very quickly, not just in terms of the writing style, but in terms of the time that passed in the story. There's not one scene in which we see Shay in prison (3 years gone), 4 months go by in a flash after she's released and gets into the Hope program, and then suddenly an entire year is gone since Shay was released. I would have appreciated a bit more time spent on two crucial time periods for our primary character: her stay in prison and people she may have met or communicated with there, and the classes and lessons she learned at the Hope center. We hear tidbits about the Hope center, but these little scraps of information didn't really feel like enough.

The summary is slightly misleading in two ways. First, it says that Caden has only abandons Shay after her release, something he did long before when he left her to face the consequences of taking the money to save him alone. Also, after not hearing from him for three years, she wasn't expecting anything from him, so I wouldn't say it's a fair assessment to have that air of hope there. Second, not once in the entire book is Pastor Drew referred to as Andrew, a little thing from summary to book that irked me.

For frequent readers of Macomber books, this book will feel quite familiar in terms of character (Shay like Alix) and storyline (every Macomber book I've read so far), but in terms of relationship pacing it does have a bit of freshness which in this type of book I appreciated. For a new to Macomber reader, this book is a standalone and therefore wouldn't necessitate any background reading, plus the familiarity wouldn't be there for them. All in all, it was a nice book, if not a very special one.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Any Dream Will Do by Debbie Macomber is an uplifting novel of redemption, second chances and love. This substantive story also includes an element of faith that is not just spiritual since a major part of the storyline centers around the belief that people can and will prevail as they attempt to turn their lives around after making disastrous life choices.

Drew Douglas is the pastor of a Seattle Church but after the death of his beloved wife Katie three years earlier, he is still struggling with lingering grief and a loss of faith. His surprise meeting with Shay Benson changes his life, but initially, not in a romantic sense. In helping her, he finds his way back to the friends and mentors he gradually allowed to slip out of his life after Katie’s death. As he becomes more engaged in life, Drew finally recognizes that he is battling more than just grief and a crisis of faith. Once he begins to emerge from the darkness that has shrouded him, Drew finds a renewed purpose and joy in his ministry. He occasionally sees Shay during this year of recovery and once both of their lives are back on track, the two form a surprising friendship that gradually deepens into love.

A dysfunctional and abusive childhood set Shay on a self-destructive path at a young age. Her poor choices also affected her brother Caden after she introduces him to her drug dealing and addicted boyfriend. On the brink of leaving er past behind, Shay’s loyalty to Caden and her guilt over involving him in her ill-fated choices results in a terrible decision that culminates with severe consequences for her. Three years later, Shay is once again presented with an opportunity to make a better life for herself, but can she bring herself to believe she is worthy of this second chance?

The friendship between Shay and Drew is quite sweet but there are quite a few obstacles they both must overcome before exploring the unexpected romance that springs up between them. Shay is constantly striving to quiet the little voice in her head that tries to convince her she does not deserve a better life. She is incredibly kindhearted and never hesitates to welcome those less fortunate into her life and her heart. While she is at first skeptical of letting God into her life, a newfound faith finally becomes an integral part of Shay’s life.

Drew is initially somewhat hesitant to bring Shay into both his and his children’s lives but he cannot deny he is drawn to her. Several people in his congregation question his judgment and he draws upon Scripture to gently, yet pointedly, make his case for welcoming her into their fold. A few issues crop up along the way that seem to indicate he might have made a precipitous decision to trust Shay but Drew’s faith in her does not waver. However, when a situation spirals out of control, will Drew be forced to decide between his church and Shay?

Any Dream Will Do is a truly inspiring novel that will resonate with anyone who has ever struggled to turn their life around. The romance between Shay and Drew is quite touching, but their relationship is secondary to the growth of the characters. &Shay’s journey is compelling and her emotions, regrets and doubts are realistically depicted. Drew’s struggle to regain his lost faith and overcome the loss of his wife are portrayed with stark honesty. The storyline also touches on social problems such as homelessness and addiction in a forthright and sensitive manner. This newest release by Debbie Macomber is a captivating story of hope, love and faith that will linger in readers’ hearts and minds long after the last page is turned.

This is one of the best Debbie Macomber books that I have read in a while. It is a story of the difficult subject of making a wrong decision that affects the rest of one's life. But, it is also a story of redemption and getting a second chance to change our path to a more positive and productive path.

Shay Benson and her brother Caden live in Seattle and are the only family that each other has. Shay has finally gotten her life on course working at a bank when Caden asks her for money. Caden always has a problem with money because of poor choices. Shay doesn't have the money to loan but when Caden said that he would be killed if he doesn't get it, Shay gives in and takes the money from the bank. And she lands in prison. When she is released three years later, she doesn't have anywhere to go. She never heard from Caden after giving him the money and has no idea where he is. After taking a bus to downtown Seattle, Shay wounds up in a church where she sits and tries to get an idea of what she needs to do.

Pastor Drew Douglas lost his wife to cancer and is in a spiritual slump. Life is hard raising their two children while trying to be the leader of his church but yet mourning the loss of his wife. After spending time in prayer at the front of the church, he spots Shay at the back of the church. Shay touches him when he hears her story so he called a minister friend, Kevin, who is involved in street ministry through Hope Center, a place that helps people get back on their feet. Shay is able to get into the program and works hard to turn her life around. God leads people into our life for a reason and this is no exception. When Drew tells Kevin of his feelings of depression and unhappiness, Kevin gets him involved in a group of friends playing basketball and fellowship. This makes a big change in Drew's perspective on life and his sermons back where they need to be.

It is fun to watch Shay turn her life around and grow spiritually against many odds and conflicts. Drew is touched by watching Shay's growth and they develop a friendship that involves Drew's children. Shay even begins attending Drew's church but many church members don't trust an ex-con. We all think of church as a place to be uplifted and welcomed but we all know that churches are made up of people who are normal and imperfect--myself included. This is a feel good book that stayed with me as I thought about the messages that Ms. Macomber brought out in her storytelling. I can't imagine being homeless with no one to turn to. We take our families and blessings for granted sometimes. This is the most spiritual book of hers that I can remember reading and I thought that it was great. I know her faith is very important to her and that came through in this book--a book of second chances, faith, trust, courage and forgiveness.

Thanks to the author and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and give an honest review.

There are times in life when you have no other choice but to make a fresh new start. Only problem is that Shay has no clue where or even how to get that new life started. She’d done something stupid. Well, helping your brother out of trouble shouldn’t be stupid, only doing the wrong thing that put her behind prison walls would certainly qualify. Now she’s faced with rebuilding a life, with a record. The church seemed like a good place to sit and think, maybe even send up a small prayer. She couldn’t have known that she was in exactly the right place at the right time to start something new… perhaps far more than she could have dreamed possible for her.

Drew has been in mourning over his wife’s lost battle to cancer for years now. As a pastor he knows that she is in God’s hands now, only as a man who loved his wife he really wants her at his side, raising their kids together. Illogical he knows, especially for a man of faith but the heart feels what it wants, and he wants his wife. His family, his congregation are suffering as a result of his continued grief. It’s time to make a life decision. He couldn’t have known that part of his healing was sitting in his church pews right now doing her own soul searching. By reaching out to help a stranger Drew has set his feet upon a path to his future. But nothing always runs smoothly. In time he and Shay will have to face some difficult times. Will what they begin here in this quiet church pew stand the tests to come?

Any Dream Will Do is such a lovely second chance at life story. You can’t help but feel for both Shay and Drew. We’ve all made stupid mistakes and paid for them, most of us have lost a loved one to death and question why for a very long time. This couple isn’t all that different from the average person walking down the street in your own home town… only the circumstances might be slightly different. Drew and Shay begin with a tentative friendship which grows slowly, steadily over time. It feels real, it feels natural and it just feels right for them. When trouble comes calling they will have choices to make. I liked this couple very much. I believe you would as well.

If you’re looking for a realistic, natural moving romance with believable characters then I’d highly recommend Any Dream Will Do. Debbie Macomber once again delivers a touching story with faith, hope and love deeply involved. She is one of my favorite, go to authors and if you haven’t discovered her yet then this story would be a lovely place to start.

Any Dream Will Do, written by Debbie Macomber, is the newest release from this author. Whenever I start a book by this author, I know I am in for a wonderful treat. The powerful and uplifting message in this story exceeded all of my expectations!

Shay Benson is a woman trying to change her life for the better. She is working as a teller at a bank, and is planning to go to college to take accounting classes. She has one major flaw, and that is her love for her younger brother, Caden. They lost their mother at a young age, their father was abusive, and Shay feels responsible for him. They have both made wrong choices in life, but unlike Shay who is trying to learn from those mistakes and move forward, Caden just seems to always be in some kind of trouble. Caden goes to Shay for help one more time...this time he needs five thousand dollars in order to stay alive. Unfortunately, he is asking her for help that will cost her in more ways than one!

Pastor Drew Douglas is still reeling from the loss of his wife three years earlier. He is trying to hold his family together, in addition to leading his congregation, and he feels as if he is failing at both. He is alone in the church, praying over feeling so completely lost, when he hears a noise at the back of the church He turns around to see a young woman standing there...and she looks just as lost as he is.

The story that unfolds is brilliantly crafted and told. Debbie Macomber is a master storyteller...with well thought out storylines and truly realistic characters. Her words always flow easily through the pages, and will have you completely invested in the story from the first page until the very last. This is a story about two lost souls, both needing to find strength to move on from the past. Shay and Drew are as different as night and day, but underneath the outside appearance, actually compliment each other extremely well. Their friendship is a beautiful one built on faith and also trust. The supporting characters are just as important, and give perfect balance to the storyline.

This is a story that has everything...love, loss, faith, friendship, strength, and courage. Strength to move on when life throws you a curve ball. Courage to learn from your mistakes and make a positive change. Most importantly, finding and holding onto your faith to get you through even the worst of times. It is never an easy process, and the author manages to portray the struggles of these two characters perfectly. The message of this story is powerful and uplifting...a message that will stay with you long after finish this story.

I would like to thank Random House Publishing Group-Ballantine and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this book. My views are my own and are in no way influenced by anyone else.

Wow, this didn’t start out as expected and was totally blown away by this novel by one of my favorite authors.
Shay’s brother Caden is a lost cause unto himself. He is always getting himself into trouble and he goes to his sister Shay to help him out of it. He promises her that he will pay her back in a few days and Shay, well let’s just say she helps herself into a heap of trouble by listening to her brother instead of her gut instinct.
Shay works at a bank and Caden talks her into stealing five thousand dollars for him as though it was nothing. Unfortunately Shay is caught and sent to prison.

When Shay is released from prison she has nowhere to go. She gets on a bus that takes her to downtown Seattle and it is there she finds herself in a church.
There is only one other person in there praying already and when he turns around and sees her standing, he asks if he can help her?
He introduces himself, Drew Douglas and tells her he is the pastor at this church.
Drew’s wife passed away a few years ago and he has two children, Mark and Sarah. When Drew finds out about Shay not having anywhere to go or a place to live, he puts a call into his buddy Kevin at the Hope Center. He is hoping that there is an opening for Shay there.
Shay does indeed get into the Hope Center and she has to sign an agreement, knowing that she has to stay there for one year. If she does accept, then when the year is up, they will help her get a job and housing. Can’t get any better than that, especially when you are just fresh out of prison.
Drew becomes friends with Shay and that eventually turns into a little more than friendship BUT I can tell you this, Drew’s church has a few things to say about that! Drew is definitely acting out this quote from Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Drew’s church definitely needs to work on this thought process, by deliberating on how they can be the change so others can see Jesus in them.
What do, Drew’s children, ‘Mark and Sarah’ think about Shay?
Something happens in the story that draws a line between Shay and Drew. Shay becomes a faithful friend to someone and is not willing to share a secret that was told to her and it may end up being being her undoing. This in turn drives a wedge between her and Drew.

What exactly is the Hope Center and does it help or hinder Shay?
This is a thought-provoking novel with lots of twists and suspense for the reader.
This would be a great book for a book club to read and answer questions while reading this book together.
Read it if you dare!

I was given this book by Netgalley.com for review purposes.

Any Dream Will Do is the latest novel by Debbie Macomber. Shay Benson is trying to turn her life around. She is clean (no drugs), working as a teller at a local bank, and taking accounting classes. Then Caden, her brother (and only family), shows up needing help. Caden states he needs $5,000 right away or he will be killed. Promises to get the money back to her within days if she will obtain it from the bank (not through legal means). Caden gets the money and disappears. Shay is sentenced to three years. Three years later, a bus drops Shay off in front of Seattle Calvary. She walks inside and feels a sense of peace. Pastor Drew Douglas has been having a crisis of faith since the loss of his wife three years prior. It has been a struggle managing his children and his flock. Drew is in the church when he hears a noise and encounters Shay Benson. Shay needs assistance (a new start, a place to live), and Drew takes her to Hope Center. Drew keeps track of Shay’s progress in the year long program and they develop a friendship. As time passes, Shay gets to know Drew’s children, finds a job, a place to live, and a church family. Life is good for Shay and romance is blossoming, but then her past comes back to haunt her. Shay’s dreams for her future are threatened. Shay will need to stay strong and hold onto her faith to get through this trial. Will Shay and Drew get their happily ever after?

Any Dream Will Do is nicely written, has a good steady pace, and is set Seattle, Washington (I have always wanted to go there). This book is different from Debbie Macomber’s other novels. She always writes clean, wholesome books, but Any Dream Will Do has a Christian theme. The values of faith, trust, hope, second chances, redemption and love are prevalent throughout the story. Shay is given a second chance, but no one ever said it would be easy (life never is). Life is fraught with hills and valleys (shadow and light). We get to see Shay and Drew go through good times and bad. I am rating Any Dream Will Do 4 out of 5 stars. The romance takes a backseat in this novel. It places out softly and slowly which I liked. Any Dream Will Do is an uplifting and inspiring novel. The story touches on the plight of the homeless, how people struggle with addiction, and dealing with prejudice (assuming that Shay is bad because she was in prison). Any Dream Will Do does have the expected ending, but it is touching. Any Dream Will Do is a good novel to enjoy on a Saturday afternoon while lying about in a hammock with a cool drink nearby.

I really liked the redemption story in this book. I also liked the forgiveness given numerous times. It isn't often that a mainstream book leaves me feeling this good but this book was wonderful!

I'll admit when I first met Shay I really didn't think much of her. Of course that is because that is how Macomber wanted me to feel. And honestly I didn't think much of Drew either! But as the story progressed and I got to see more into both of their lives and especially personalities I grew to like them both more and more.

I loved how hard Drew worked to keep life normal for his kids. And I loved how hard Shay worked to better her life. And I really loved how Shay poured herself into those less fortunate in little ways that made a big impression.

But I'll admit what I really loved was that I just read a mainstream book about a preacher and a woman and there were a lot of fiery kisses but no premarital sex. In fact he was quite careful about not putting themselves in that position. Loved that. Even some of the Christian novels these days are starting to push the border a little bit. And I understand it because they want to relate to more people and they want to be more realistic. But I like the fact that this book was realistic and it was a little edgy with Shay's past. Yet it still remained very clean while still having passion. I will definitely continue to read more from Macomber!

I did receive an advanced copy from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Shay Benson has made some major mistakes in her life and she has paid a heavy price for those mistakes. She despairs of ever turning her life around until she meets Pastor Drew Douglass who offers her another chance to make something of her life. Drew has had his own share of heartache lately - struggling to raise his two young children after the death of his wife. The more Drew watches Shay rebuild her life, the more he realizes he is attracted to her and she is attached to him. Can this unlikely pair find happiness together or will Shay’s past get in their way?

“Any Dream Will Do” is a nice book by the always enjoyable Debbie Macomber - even if it is a bit grittier than her usual books. At first I wasn't sure I liked Shay - she knew what she was doing was wrong but did it anyway (out of misplaced loyalty to her brother) - but I quickly grew to like her. She is strong - stronger than she realizes - and her fight to make something of herself is very realistic as she doubts herself at times and still worries about her brother even though he has hurt her in the past. (I just loved her friendship with the two homeless men Richard and Chuck). I liked Drew from the beginning - a single father still struggling to deal with his wife's death he is very believable and moving. The relationship between Shay and Drew is nicely done by Macomber - it isn't rushed and the two face many real obstacles along the way. In fact, my only complaint about this book is that there seems to be too many obstacles in the way - the book felt a bit dragged out, especially towards the end. Having said that, I did find much of the relationship and experiences in the book to be very realistic and I am glad Macomber didn't try and tidy everything up neatly at the end - for example, Shay’s relationship with her brother Caden.

“Any Dream Will Do” is a nicely done romance by the enjoyable and reliable Debbie Macomber.

This is a powerful standalone novel where circumstances and bad decisions affect what path a person's life takes. This was a truly moving story of love and faith. The plot of this story is about a young woman who steals money from the bank that she works at to help her brother. She gets caught and her brother disappears. After three years in prison, Shay has nowhere to go. Faced with being homeless with no prospect of finding work, she enters a church for warmth. Pastor Drew lost his wife, his soulmate to cancer. He has been trying to get over his loss, but everything has been so overwhelming. Caring for his two young children and a parish that is dwindling adds to deepening his depression. When he sees Shay at the back of his church, he is drawn to the woman and brings her to a friend that runs a facility to help women re entering society through education and counseling. Not only does the friend help Shay, but he also helps Drew realize that he needs help with his depression. The chemistry between Drew and Shay starts off as a simple bond that grows stronger over time. Drew sees the goodness in Shay as he checks on the progress of the woman whom he feels brought him into the light. Even his children have formed a strong attachment to the brave, strong woman. Over time their friendship turns into something stronger. The story moves along quickly. Unfortunately, Shay’s past comes into play. The elders of the church are not willing to accept a woman with a criminal past. When money from the church is missing, Shay is the likely suspect, but this time she has people that believe in her. This story has a beautiful and inspiring ending. Seeing Shay overcome her past and make something of herself and in turn help others made for a great story. There is strong character development making these characters likable and believable.

Any Dream will Do is about Second Chances, starting over, love, and faith

Shay Benson goes against her better judgement to help her younger brother and pays for it dearly. After serving her time, she finds herself in a church trying to make sense of what she is going to do next in her life. She believes that she is there alone but is soon approached by Pastor Drew Douglas.

Drew Douglas has been mourning the loss of his wife the last 4 years. His congregation is suffering and he needs to find purpose in his life. When he sees Shay alone in his Church he offers her help by way of taking her to a shelter run by his friend.

Drew and Shay see each other sporadically as he occasionally checks in on her and agrees to attend her graduation from the program. Both feel a connection with the other. They are an unlikely match but both see the good in the other. Both need to time to trust and be willing to commit to another person again.

With all romance stories, there is a wrench in their plans for a happy relationship. Shay's ex-boyfriend and brother come back into the picture to cause some drama and angst. Through communication, trust, and community both find support and acceptance.

This is a sweet story about starting over, hope, faith and love. There is nothing graphic in this book and what is even more surprising is that the romance did not feel rushed nor did the ending. My biggest gripe with romance books is that the ending is rushed, everyone falls in love and they all need to get married right away. This book feels like it takes its time which is a good thing. Nothing is rushed. I enjoyed how they both learned to trust each other and formed a friendship first. I also like that many topics were covered even if in a minor way - death, loss, homelessness, prison.

This is a fast read perfect for a sunny summer day spent at the beach or while relaxing in the backyard.

I received this book from Random House publishing -Ballantine and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Any Dream Will Do is a wonderful story of the power of faith, of love and of redemption. I was caught up in the book in the first chapter and could not put it down. Debbie Macomber writes such beautiful stories with the element of faith woven in and I always enjoy the time I spend reading one of her books. This one is no exception.

Shay Benson feels a strong sense of loyalty to her brother Caden and that loyalty costs her dearly. She is lost and alone when she stumbles upon a church with an open door. She finds her way in from the cold and is confronted by the pastor (Drew Douglas) who reaches out to her and wants to help her get on her feet.

As the story progresses, Shay finds herself growing stronger in her convictions and in her ability to stand on her own two feet. Drew is drawn to her as he befriends her and he realizes that he is starting to develop feelings towards her.

The congregation that Drew serves is skeptical of his relationship with her and does its best to discourage him from helping her. They are more concerned about appearances than about helping someone in need. When a crisis occurs that puts Shay in danger, Drew stands up for her and is willing to turn his back on his calling to that church.

Just as they are feeling that things are finally working out for them, an incident in the church threatens to undo the trust that Shay has built up in herself as well as in Drew and his family. The outcome depends on Shay betraying a secret which she is reluctant to do.

The romance that develops between Drew and Shay is a sweet one which grows slowly through the book. They both have pain in their lives… Drew is a widower who lost his wife and the mother of his two children…..Shay was betrayed by her brother and paid an awful price so trust is hard to come by. Watching them help each other come to a place of freedom and of redemption was the best part of the book.

I would recommend this book without hesitation. I was gifted an advance copy from NetGalley and offer here my honest review.

This book is so full of love and hope that you can’t help but be inspired. I loved every second of this book and was extremely disappointed when I all too soon turned that final page. This book is about redemption and forgiveness, both of which we all need a little more of from time to time. It’s easy to hold other’s past mistakes against them, but as children of God, we are suppose to love as God loves, which means looking at the person they are now, not who they were before. I was impressed with how much Shay changed throughout this book and how she inspired people. Way too many people get into trouble when they are young and then feel as though they can’t make anything of themselves because of their path. Shay made no excuses and, with help from some truly amazing people, was able to make a wonderful life for herself.

The homeless population is a huge problem in our country right now and I loved how Debbie Macomber tackled this issue with this book. It is easy for us Christians to look the other way but we need to remember that the Bible tells us to take care of the homeless and poor. There are many times when churches seem to forget this so I was glad that was showed in this book. The way the elders tried to condemn Drew for associating with Shay and Richard was a perfect example of how even Christians forget how to love like Jesus.

I love how these huge issues were called to attention in such a loving, entertaining, and brilliant way. I have loved Debbie Macomber’s books since I picked up the first one, but this one probably got moved up to one of my all time favorite books. This is a book I will reread when I start to feel down about my life. We could all use the reminders that not only could our lives be worse, but God has a plan for our lives and plenty of grace to go around.

This was a beautiful story of redemption, forgiveness and healing.

Shay Benson had a rough life growing up and she had finally gotten out from under that weight and was making a future for herself when she tried to help her brother and it landed her in prison for 3 years. Once she was released, she was broken and had no family and no place to turn for help until she walked into Seattle Calvary church where she found the help she needed to begin to make a change in her life for good.

Pastor Drew was a widower who had loved his wife, Katie, fiercely, and now he was trying to put his life back together for himself and for his two children, Mark and Sarah. When he first saw Shay in his church, he felt compassion and a connection to her. He wanted to help her. He was able to get her into a program that would help to heal her and teach her the skills she would need to make a positive change in her life.

As Drew and Shay's lives intersected over the next year or more, they began to rely on each other for support and eventually love. Drew's children adored Shay and they all enjoyed spending time together. Unfortunately, there were dark forces from Shay's past and prejudices that threatened to destroy a possible future for the two of them. Would they be strong enough to over come the challenges they faced or would they give up on what could possibly be wonderful and everlasting?

I was given an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Drew himself is going through heartache his wife died three years ago and he is till lost without her. As Drew starts talking to her and realize she seems homeless or lost he takes her to a center that helps get woman who have had a hard life back on their feet. So start this relationship at first both parties do not realize how they helped each other with their pain especially Drew but as time goes by and their parts continually crossing they begin a friendship that turns romantic. Since this is a book where the hero is Pastor there is no intimate scenes other than few stolen kisses. Before the end of the book both hero and heroine have to deal with the talk of his congregation approving of their relationship her past boyfriend showing up and her brother who never came back after taking money from her. Redemption overcoming and finding love all over again. This book could be seen as a christian romance. I love the innocence of it and Drew for the being a stand up Pastor you could admired. I was given an arc by Netgalley. (less)

Where will God lead you? In the latest stand alone from Debbie Macomber, Shay Benson finds herself in a mess. To help her beloved younger brother, she ended up embezzling money from the bank she was worked no at. Caden disappeared with the money & let Shay be sentenced to prison. After serving three years, she is released bitter & upset that her future is lost. With no place to go, she rode the bus for several hours. When she got off, she looked up & realized it had left her off in front off a church. Pastor Drew Douglas approached her & found out about her situation. He helped out at an organization called Hope Center that assisted people in turning their lives around & managed to get her foot in the door.

Drew Douglas was failing. He was a pastor, a father of two children & a widow. His young wife died quickly after her diagnosis & Drew was questioning his faith. Both children were struggling in different ways. Then one day, an unexpected light came into his life. He met Shay & was able to help her. A friendship developed over time. Could it develop into something more? When her past comes rushing towards her again, will her newfound friends stick by her?

Ms. Macomber writes the most tender but emotionally heart wrenching stories. They draw you in from the beginning & get your feelings involved. I cried for all Shay could have been, was proud of what she accomplished, laughed at an innocent child's interpretation & sharing of personal topics & fell in love with two homeless men that gave everything they had for a friend. This story has hope, faith & love written into every word. Every book is an emotional journey. At the end, I'm always emotionally exhausted but have learned something new about me & about life. This book is another example of why Ms. Macomber is the #1 author that I always pre-order or one click on new releases.

The latest stand alone novel from Debbie Macomber, Any Dream Will Do, is Christian fiction at its best. Protagonist, Shay Benson, is a sympathetic character who would do just about anything to protect her younger brother, Caden. Shay is forced to start over in life after making a poor choice to protect Caden from drug dealers who want him dead. That choice earns her three years in prison. Antagonist, Drew Douglas, a local pastor, is still struggling to raise his two children and put his life back together four years after the death of his beloved wife.

When the bus drops Shay off in front of Drew’s church on the day she left prison, she ventures inside to escape the cold. As Drew helps Shay re-enter life on the outside, his sense of purpose is reignited. Gradually, their friendship grows, but the two are faced with obstacles such as disapproving church elders, the appearance of an abusive former boyfriend, Shay’s difficulties with trust and self-esteem, and even her brother, Caden.

This complex novel deals with current social issues:  the bullying of Drew’s son, homelessness, drug dealers, grief, Christians who don’t always behave in a Christ-like manner toward others, and briefly with the role of a male pastor’s wife.

The story unfolds smoothly, not in flashbacks, as many do, making it a quick, easy read. It’s a romance, a mystery, and oh, so much more. I was disappointed when it ended.

What Makes This Book Reviewer Grumpy?

No much. Only the usual things like split-infinitives and improper word usage:  the word “loan” was used repeatedly when “lend” is what should have been used. Yes, I’m very picky.

"Any Dream Will Do" by Debbie Macomber

My Thoughts.....

Who would have thought that Shay Benson and Drew Douglas who were complete opposites would one day come together and actually fall in love? We find that Shay has just been released from prison and finds herself showing up at Drew's church where we find that he is a widower, pastor and also a single father of two who was frowning in sadness. Now why was that? This author does well in giving the readers a real intriguing emotional story of just how life can change and present its form in so many different ways as it was for Shay. One could see why Shay may have had a chip on her shoulder as her life hadn't been easy for her at all especially with her father and brother. It was sad to see how she had been too trusting with her brother that she seemed to not being able to tell him NO. Will Shay learn from this bad experience she had gone through? Well, the story is quite deep and you will just have to pick this well written story that this author presents to her readers to see how things will change for Shay as she seems to have been given a second chance and finally have found someone who truly loves her.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House - Ballantine for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Shay was fortunate enough to get out of drugs and get a good job at a bank.
But eroded by guilt, when her brother came to ask for help - or he would be dead the next day - she reluctantly helped him.

And she ended up in prison for 3 years.

When she left the Washington Corrections Center for Women, alone, with nowhere to go, she remembered the time in jail when she received religious letters from a volunteer teacher. Even if she did not have the faith of that woman, Shay sought shelter from the cold inside a church when the bus left her there.

Shay prayed but did not expect to get an answer.
When she saw a priest coming toward her, she imagined he would expel her, but he asked her the right questions and helped her.

What she couldn't imagine was that she was a prayer answer as well.

Drew Douglas had decided to help people find the right path, the path to God.
But after years in which his wife struggled with ovarian cancer - and lost the war - seeing his children shattered by loss, he did not know where to find the strength or hope to stay active.
Day by day he saw his words being empty, as was his congregation.

With Shay's arrival, Drew had to contact the Hope Center, run by his friend Kevin. From there, help for Drew solidified.
Over time, within the Hope Center, a rehab program for people with no future or hope, Shay and Drew begin a friendship that could lead to something more.

The author gives a lesson in motivation, hope and faith in this book.
A charming story, suitable for the present day.

Any Dream Will Do by Debbie Macomber is a beautiful story about second chances, love, trust, faith, and redemption! Debbie Macomber has a wonderful way of bringing all her characters to life - simply an incredible story from beginning to end.

Shay Benson loved her brother Caden, and all she wanted to do was help him stay out of trouble. Unfortunately, that act of kindness cost her three years of her life behind bars. Now she is determined to start over, she finds herself searching for a place to stay and walks into a church to escape the cold. Pastor Drew Douglas lost his wife to cancer and has been struggling ever since to take care of his two children and his church. Now he is thinking about a fresh start and as he walks through his church he finds Shay sitting in a pew.

Shay and Drew form a friendship. Drew wants to help Shay get back on her feet and introduces her to the Hope Center. While staying at the Hope Center she learns what it's like to have people care about her for the first time in her life. Shay has been given a second chance at life and can finally learn to trust again. Shay and Drew's friendship starts growing into something deeper. Could romance be in the air? Drew's children absolutely love Shay and can see the life coming back into his eyes again. But Shay's brother returns back to town. Will he undo the life she has tried so hard to rebuild? It will take extreme courage and faith if she and Drew want to heal and open their hearts to a beautiful future. After all, Any dream will do! Highly Recommended!

Shay Benson loved her younger brother, Caden, so much she would do anything for him. That “anything” landed her in prison, where Caden left her to her fate. Now, after having served her time, Shay is determined to start her life over and forge a future she can be proud of, leaving Caden—and the rest of her bad memories—behind. Homeless and with nowhere to go, Shay enters a church looking for a warm place to spend the night, and maybe some answers.

Pastor Drew is struggling to raise his children in the wake of his wife’s death three years ago. All he can feel is the pain of her loss, and everything else, including the kids and his church, takes a backseat. Desperate for a change, Drew goes to his church looking for answers, and meets Shay, another seeker. The two become friends as Drew tries to help Shay get back on her feet. Their friendship blossoms into something more, until Shay’s past and a secret threaten to end her dreams of a future for good.

I don’t typically read a lot in the romance genre, although I used to. It’s just not my favorite anymore. However, I do make an exception for Debbie Macomber, as her characters and stories are usually so engrossing. Any Dream Will Do was no exception, and Shay has a dark past that left her struggling to find herself in her present. These characters face many obstacles as they slowly grow to love each other, and their struggles are believable and realistic. If you’re looking for some light reading with a great message, Any Dream Will Do is a great choice.

“I decided I could either live my life in fear or I could—simply put—live my life. I refused to look over my shoulder or stop before turning every corner to make sure I was safe. I chose instead to breathe easy, and to put my trust in God. It was either that, or I would soon be afraid of my own shadow.
-Shay

Debbie Macomber’s latest novel is all about second chances and what we do with them. In this very detailed story of one woman’s opportunity after a lot of bad mistakes, Shay, a quiet young woman, leaves the Washington Correction Center for Women and begins her search for a place to stay. Shay’s life is turned around because of her encounter with Drew Douglas, a pastor who finds a program for women in her circumstance.

The story follows Shay’s path through the Hope Center program and after her release in to civilian life with all its ups and downs. Her opportunities and choices reflect the difficulties involved in making a life for oneself again. The book highlights the attitudes and prejudices ex-convicts are up against once they leave prison, as well as offering some important perspectives on redemption and forgiveness.

The story is a little bit difficult to believe if you try to accept it as a realistic incidence. However, if you take the book as a fictional story as intended, the story is enjoyable and has a nicely tied up ending.

I received this book free from Ballantine Books and Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. The above thoughts and opinions I have expressed are wholly my own.

“Any Dream Will Do” is a novel about second chances. Shay Benson is an ex-con who has just been released from prison. She has nowhere to go and no one to go to. Just a small amount of money is keeping her from living on the streets. In effort to stay warm and try to figure out where she will go on her first day of freedom, she wanders into Seattle Calvary church.

Drew Douglas is the pastor at the church. His beloved wife has passed away four years ago, leaving him with two young children to raise on his own. He is at a breaking point, pouring himself out in prayer when Shay wanders into his church.

Both Shay and Drew are looking for second chances. For Shay, she wants a chance to have a life that is free from the hate, abuse, drugs and beatings that have surrounded her for most of her life. For Drew, it is a second chance at devoting himself to God and to living a life that is free from the sadness and depression that have been his lot since his wife first became ill.

The story is told from both of their perspectives, alternating chapter by chapter. What emerges from the narrative is a story that shows that God is in control and has a purpose for everyone and who will answer those who seek Him.

As always, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Ms. Macomber's book. She touches on real issues that men and women have to deal with on a day to day basis. I believe this is a stand-alone book but I think a series around some of these characters would be wonderful.

Shay has just been released from prison for embezzling from the bank she worked for. The victim of an abusive father, a mother who died young, and a manipulative brother, Shay hasn’t had much of a chance. She pulled away from a relationship with Shooter, a drug dealer, but when her brother owed money to Shooter and others, she felt she needed to get the money for him and took it from the bank.

Feeling that she’s lost her chance at a good life, Shay is lonely and depressed when she gets off the bus from prison. It’s freezing and there’s a church in front of her. She enters to get warm, and it changes her life.

Drew Douglas, pastor of the church, feels that he is losing his faith after his wife’s death. He’s praying when Shay walks in. Meeting her, he wants to help and by helping gives them both a chance at a more fulfilling life.

This is a Christian romance. The emotion between Drew and Shay is powerful, but all at the level of propriety, no bedroom scenes. Shay has a hard time giving up her defensive attitude to accept help and friendship from others. I found this the most realistic part of the book.

As usual in a romance, the course of love doesn’t run smooth. In this case, it’s due to Shooter and Shay’s brother reappearing in her life, as well as her prison past coming back to haunt her. I enjoyed the book. Some of it seemed too good to be true. However, it was an enjoyable, quick read.

If you like Christian romance, Debbie Macomber is always a good choice.

If I could give this 6 stars, I would. This is a story of love, hope, faith and redemption.

When kind-hearted Shay makes a bad decision to help her desperate brother, she ends up serving three years in prison. After being released from prison, she has little money, no job and nowhere to go. Her bus drops her off in front of a church where she goes in mainly to get out of the cold. Little did she know at that time that her life would be forever changed. She meets Pastor Drew Douglas, who was dealing with the death of his wife three years earlier, and with raising his two children alone. Although their relationship started as a friendship, Drew offers Shay the hope she needs to survive... in the form of Hope Center.

As Shay completes her commitment with Hope Center, her bond with Drew and his children deepens and the joy and love both Drew and Shay had not experienced for a long time grows stronger. Shay begins to show her true self when she befriends two homeless men with steaming cups of coffee each morning and kind words. It doesn't take long before more people begin to put her past where it belonged... in the past. But when that past flares up in the form of her old boyfriend, things get heated. And later, a matter of trust threatens to pull Shay and Drew apart.

Once again, Debbie Macomber created a heartwarming story with lovable characters and the ability to bring me to tears.

Debbie Macomber has another hit on her hands! The only thing that I can criticize about this book is the fact that the story had to end. Macomber has managed to bring a rough, gritty situation and somehow shine the love of Christ all around. Shay is a newly released prisoner who was serving time for embezzlement. She managed to get herself into the situation by helping her brother, who always seem to take advantage of her good nature. She learned a hard lesson this time and promises to never go back. Pastor Drew Douglas is trying to recover from the death of his wife and raise his two children the best way he knows how. His congregation has supported him for the three years since his wife's death. However with attendance dropping and the offering getting smaller every week he begins to doubt whether this is actually what the Lord wants him to do. When Shay turns up in the back of his church one day looking for shelter he feels compelled to help her. What follows is a story that will warm the coldest heart on Christmas. And in usual Macomber style the twists and turns are many. Just when you think a situation is going to be perfect something happens to throw that good old monkey wrench in. And sometimes when it's obvious what's going to happen the twist is how God uses the situation to bring about a result. It's like you can't see the forest for the trees! This was a book that I couldn't put down when I picked it up. Be prepared to stay up at night to finish reading it because the characters Won't Let You Go. It was great to get into the Christmas spirit early! I received this book through NetGalley for an unbiased review.

I haven’t read all of the author’s titles but this one was definitely a deviation from the previous one. It’s a complicated story about two damaged souls who might be able to help each other but it won’t be easy.

Shay Benson hasn’t had an easy life but she is getting by and trying to get ahead. Raised in the tough part of town, she had seen her share of criminals and drug dealers. She had managed to move on from that but her brother had not. Needing lots of money or risk death, Caden came to her for a bailout. She ended up ‘borrowing’ the money from her employer, a bank, and going to jail for it.

On the day she is released from jail, she has no idea what she will do or how she will eat. She ends up in a church where the pastor helps her find a place to spend the night.

Drew Douglas is a lost soul as well but he has a congregation to serve and two children to care for after losing his wife. He’s not so sure that God is listening to him either. He can only hope that Shay Benson will listen to the counselors at the community center and turn her life around. There isn’t enough time in the day for him to worry about her future.

But life has a way of throwing obstacles or people in your path sometimes. Drew and Shay keep meeting up and become friends of a sort. Together they begin to heal each other, learn to trust, and maybe find out that life can be good.

I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest and unbiased review. No compensation was expected or received for the review.

Debbie Macomber is easily one of my favorite authors because she always writes these easy to read books that you find yourself able to binge through without even realizing it. Her latest is no exception as I got through it in less than two hours and was left feeling grateful for the experience.

It is a story about family, hope, love, second chances and being careful about who you judge. As always, she has created some fantastic characters you can really bond to and scene work that pulls you along their story.

There were times I wanted to shake her main character, Shay, for being so gullible and allowing herself to get pulled into bad situations that could ruin her life but by the end Macomber has this way of reminding me I’ve made some of my own decisions that frustrated those who love so who am I to judge?

Another of her characters who is a preacher came off as a real sweetheart and one of the things I adored about this book is that even those who don’t believe in God won’t be turned away because she doesn’t use this as a way to beat others over the head with religion. Instead you are treated to some much needed messages on the behavior and needs of mankind that go beyond just what is in a bible or what you’d find in church.

I hope people will give this a chance and allow their hearts to be changed as we all need a little reminder from time to time that dreams are not unattainable.

Only you can turn your life around. You have to really want it and be prepared for some hard work. Shay has just been released from prison. She did what she thought was the only thing she could do. She embezzled money to save her brothers life. He took the money and never looked back. He never even visited her in prison. She knew she was to blame or so she thought. Her boyfriend at the time, Shooter, was bad news and into drugs. He introduced her brother to his lifestyle.

Now she is out of prison with very little money in her pocket, no job and no place to live. The bus she has taken lets her off in front of a church in the middle of the night. She enters to keep warm and think about what she is going to do. She dozed for a brief time and when she woke she didn't know there was anyone else in the church. That is when she met Drew.

Drew is the pastor of the church. He lost his wife, the love of his life years before and has not been able to move on since. He took Shay under his wing and brought her to a program that would help turn her life around. It turns out that they have each saved the other. I can't say more or I will give away too much.

This story will draw you in right from the start and leave you thinking about it long after you have read the last word. I loved every minute of this book and really hated for it to end. I hope you will feel as I did after reading it.

I have been a fan of Debbie Macomber's work for many years and was so excited when I got the opportunity to read and review an ARC of Any Dream Will Do.

As with many of her other works, Any Dream Will Do was such an uplifting story. My heart immediately went out to Shay and everything she'd had to endure. Her character was genuine and her heart was truly in the right place despite the many roadblocks that she kept facing. The writing was so suburb, that I ached every time she ached. I felt all the emotions she was going through--the good and the bad.

I also enjoyed Drew. A man of God, he'd certainly had his own battles losing his wife and raising his two kids, Sarah and Mark, on his own. It's a wonder he'd been able to keep his family together with all they'd been through. But his heart was in the right place and he had faith.

I found that I didn't want to put this story down. There was even a little bit of suspense to it which really kept my attention. I literally loved everything about it and would love to see what happens to Drew and Shay later on.

If you need something heartfelt that will really help you to see the good in everyone, even when you're struggling to find just one positive things about them, then I'd definitely recommend reading this one. It'll leave you feeling like there's still good people in the world.

Could you find it in yourself to give someone a second chance? What if that someone embezzled money to help a family member? What if that someone left you to face the consequences by yourself?

Debbie Macomber's, Any Dream Will Do, follows Shay from her moment she embezzled money to "save" her brother to trying to get her life back together after a 3 year stint in prison. Macomber does a terrific job in showing all sides of what someone faces when they reenter society after time in prison. The ups and downs of trusting, making friends and learning to love.

One of my favorite aspects of this novel is the voice Macomber used. As I was reading, it almost felt as if I was reading a true story. The novel is told from both Shay's and Drew's first person point of view. You feel as if you are sitting in a cozy living room face to face with the characters and listening to them telling you the story.

Macomber makes the reader think how they approach similar situations in their life. Her use of faith is great. Mainstream fiction tries to shy away from having to much faith talk in it but I find myself as a reader looking for it more. Any Dream Will Do has a faith based plot but it is not overwhelming. I would recommend this novel to everyone I see. This book will be with me for some time.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my own honest review.

I'm very much a fan of Debbie Macomber's writing, but in Any Dream Wiil Do she's gotten over it by bringing a touching, thrilling story full of positive messages.
Shay had a difficult life getting orphaned along with her younger brother. Brother that she vowed to protect and care for she preferred to stay the wrong way and betray her sister by making her lose all hope of a better future.
After serving her sentence, she leaves the jail, aimlessly and not knowing what to do from there forward. Upon meeting the door of an open church, she enters and meets the pastor Drew, a young widower who talks to her giving her hope of new horizons. What they both did not know is that this meeting would change their lives.
The novel is just the backdrop to show how people's confidence can give strength to those who have lost everything. Shay slowly recovers and manages to help others, but many in the community do not fully trust her, and her aproximity with Drew provokes some negative reactions that have consequences in the life of this couple who will be tested at various points in the book. She brings new perspectives to the lives of Drew and his children too and to keep up with their growing love is too beautiful.
Highlight for me was the moment that explains the title of the book by the end and made me even more excited.
Without a doubt this has become my favorite book of this author and obligatory reading for each one of us.

Any Dream Will Do
Debbie Macomber

While I admit to being a fan of Romance, and most often anything Debbie Macomber writes, I didn’t love this book. I didn’t care for the alternating point of view chapters, between Shay, the protagonist, and Drew, the love interest. Mostly because it felt like reading parts of their personal journal, and I want characters to interact more. The number of times these two conversed, or more, was very limited. The result was a set of cardboard characters who only did the right thing or the wrong things. Characters, like people, need to have depth for me to feel invested in them. There was ample opportunity for this, but that wouldn’t serve what felt like the simplistic happily ever after that we knew was coming.
I’m especially disappointed with the way the author handled Shay’s family… while she was willing to give up her dreams, job, and reputation for her brother, by stealing money for him and going to prison, he seemed to have no feelings for her at all. Shay befriends a couple of homeless people along the way, but we get very little of their story as well. Why not let Shay have conversations with these people? The story is merely told, not experienced.

I’ve been a long time Macomber reader and while I was disappointed with this book, I don’t think it will keep me from reading her next one. I know her writing well enough to know she could have done better.

I accepted this copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Any Dream Will Do is a story of second chances and redemption. Shay’s background sets her up to feel obligated to sacrifice for her brother Caden to make up for poor choices. Upon release from a three year stay at the Washington Corrections Center for Women, her path crosses that of Drew, a widowed pastor with two children who is unable to move past the death of his wife. Neither is seeking a relationship and both have issues and problems they need to work through. As people of faith they attempt to do that carefully and using biblical principles as a moral compass.

Echoes of the past reverberate in the lives of Drew and Shay emphasizing that although they may get a second chance at happiness, there are no do-overs in life. The decisions of yesterday do affect the opportunities of today.

I like the characters in the book. Although the reader can see where the storyline is going, the characters are so amiable that you want to keep reading to watch the events play out. Also, the author Debbie Macomber keeps the plot interesting with unexpected complications.

I would like to extend my thanks to netgalley.com and to Random House (Ballantine) for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Any Dream Will Do by Debbie Macomber was the perfect read for me this summer! This book is all about starting over, finding faith, forgiveness, redemption, change and of course, romance. It remained true to Ms. Macomber's writing style of realistic characters, well defined relationships and a good strong plot full of clean romance.

What really touched my heart the most was the sub-themes Ms. Macomber wove into her story. Those of faith, redemption, forgiveness, finding one's self and living true to that self. Accepting someone for who they are and not turning away from them if they aren't who we usually would socialize or reach out to. We all have made poor choices and mistakes; some big and some small. Some with repercussions that quickly pass and others that can last a life time. Within this book, Ms. Macomber showed that anything can be accomplished through God's love and faith if we just reach out to Him.

Any Dream Will Do is a heart touching story that is well written and moved me emotionally on many levels. I highly recommend it!

I received this book for free. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are my own. Thank you to Ms. Macomber, Ballentine Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Debbie Macomber’s Any Dream Will Do is a solid, if slow moving, novel about second chances and redemption.  As a big fan of Debbie Macomber’s books, I had high expectations for this book which, unfortunately, were not met. I liked the idea that anyone can find redemption and that second chances exist, but the pacing of the book was so slow that I found it difficult to become then remain engaged. While this book is in line with many of Ms Macomber’s character driven novels, it is more serious and dark. Many of Ms Macomber’s previous books have passing references to characters attending church. In this book’s case, the church plays a major role as one of the two main characters is a pastor. I find the use of a pastor as a main character intriguing and refreshing. That said, readers should be advised that this book could easily be labeled as Christian fiction. This is not a negative, I just don’t believe that all readers would enjoy that.

I recommend this book for fans of Debbie Macomber, Christian fiction and “message” books. Two and a half stars.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review and the opinions stated are solely my own.

I realize that the author is very well known however this is the first book of hers I have read. I know she writes a lot of series books and I don't read series so I never followed her. However this is a standalone novel and it does just that. It's a wonderful story and one I would recommend. Though I am not a nonfiction reader I found the characters believable and thoughtfully written. I also like the storyline because it was realistic and it kept me Interested throughout the entire novel. I would definitely read more for standalone books again very entertaining and this one was extremely well done.

Debbie Macomber writes a more serious love story than usual.
Shay embezzles money for her younger brother so that he will not be killed because of his illegal activities. He promises she will get the money back right away, but of course she never hears from him and she goes to prison for. When she gets out she runs into a minister, Drew and they become important to each other - Shay as she becomes adapted to society outside of prison walls and Drew and his children as they recover from the death of his wife and their mother.

At points, all of the characters are not well developed. However the plot is realistic and does have some suspense to it – whether and exactly how things will work out for Shay and Drew and his children.
Those who enjoy modern romantic books might like this book.

Before you read, this is Women's Religious Fiction.

Our main character made a decision trying to save her brother's life, but it lands her in prison. Transitioning, she is advised to fix her sights on her dream -- and if she hasn't got a goal, any dream will do to start!

She has to build a new life. She lucks out in finding some caring people willing to work with her to build that life. The pastor is one of them, and they have some chemistry together. She becomes a fixture in his children's lives, as well.

Will her past stay away? She has to rely on the integrity she is building. Will that be enough when others have doubts instead of faith in her? Will faith be enough in her church community? Will they lose sight of her efforts? Will her life go forward, or will she have to start over again?

This was a surprisingly quick read. I quickly fell in love with the main character, Shay. The story goes between her and Drew, the pastor she meets after getting out of prison.

Drew is a widower with 2 children, a young girl and a teenage boy. Shay is a child abuse survivor from the wrong side of tracks. She has a big heart, but 3 years in prison left her feeling bitter.

This story just made my heart swell. I'll be honest, Christian fiction usually makes me cringe. Often when that is the selling point, that seems to be the only thing the author has to offer.

This is just a well written, sweet story of love, forgiveness and redemption. And the kind of romance that makes you go, "awwww!"

Have you ever been connected with a character so quickly that right away you are saying to them, noooo, don’t do that!! That’s how I felt about Shay. To follow her life in the story was awesome. To see her growth in so many ways, when things could have easily been so different. Wouldn’t we all like to have a Lilly in our life to help us out? Or a Pastor Drew? This is an awesome book, not that I would expect anything else from the wonderful Debbie Macomber. I’ve yet to find one of her books I haven’t loved. To me this book is about making the most of the chances and changes that come your way and believing in a higher power, who is really in control.

I received this book through Net Gallery by requesting a copy of this book. My opinion is my own and I’m grateful that I was chosen to receive a copy.

I think that Debbie Macomber's stories and writing has only gotten stronger with time. Her newest book proves that too be true. It combines what Debbie does best, good storytelling, romance, with a bit of a faith edge.

The story of Shay and Drew really drew me in. I ended up reading the book really quickly because the story line kept me wanting more. Of course the story is a bit predictable but sometimes you need to read a book like that. It doesn't make it any less enjoyable. Like a lot of Debbie's other novels, there is a slight Christian tone to her writing. She doesn't bash you over the head with it but it's there. But to me, there's nothing wrong with that.

If you've read and loved Ms. Macomber's other books or enjoyed her Hallmark TV spin-offs, you'll love this book

A big thank you to NetGalley and Random House-Ballantine Books for the ARC for my honest review. As always Debbie Macomber delivers. I give this 4 stars. It is a lovely story-not super sweet-the characters are flawed and have problems. This book will make you laugh, cry, get frustrated and yell at Shay. You get sucked into their world and realize that there is always hope, forgiveness and an unknown future, with glimmers of rays of sunshine-which makes it pretty close to real life. I think that almost all romance readers would love this-I think you have to be in the right frame of mind, so you might need to put it down but come back to it. It's not all sweetness these are characters that have ups and downs and flaws. Just like you and me. I truly enjoyed the book and I hope you do to. Let me know. .

This is a beautifully told story of mistakes, loss, redemption, healing, faith and love. It's a Debbie Macomber book so we know the writing and characters are top notch but the emotions this story evoke are definitely kicked up a notch.

Shay Benson has made mistakes and paid the price in prison. On the day of her release with no were to go she stumbles into a little church. This one act will have a huge impact on her life.

Pastor Drew Douglas has been going through the motions of living since the death of his wife. His two children need him to be better and he wants to be better but moving forward is hard. Then a woman enters his church who while dealing with her own life issues shows him the way to healing and moving forward.

This story is impactful and simply not to be missed!

In many ways this is classic Macomber- a clean (no sex) romance with themes of secrets, redemption, and forgiveness- but this time she's added faith as well. This is an easy read and to be honest, it's a bit too easy. Shay has a dark past, let alone her time in prison, but it doesn't seem to have affected her in the way one would expect. Similarly, Drew has a lot on his plate. You know these two are going to get together, even though Caden throws a bit of a wrench, so the journey there is important. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I can't criticize Macomber for not going for the gritty truth because that's not her forte. This is a good standalone but I suspect readers of her various series will not enjoy this as much as those. Recommend if you like Macomber and are open to something different.

Fans of the clean, smooth, charming style of author Debbie Macomber will find her once again on top of her game in the novel, Any Dream Will Do.

Macomber takes us into the lives of a woman in prison and a young pastor, widowed and raising a small child. These two people are from different backgrounds and traveling on different life paths, yet Macomber weaves their stories together in a fascinating and intriguing tapestry.

The author keeps it real, eschewing any temptation to sugarcoat the mistakes and mis-steps made by everyday people -- Christians or not. Seeing the characters in this novel work their way through hellish troubles on to a better life gives hope to us all.

Debbie Macomber has given us a lovely story reminding us that while there are no re-dos in life, there are new beginnings that can change our current life for the better. Such is the case for Shay Benson and Pastor Drew Douglas in Any Dream Will Do. On opposite ends of the spectrum of life but both need a change for the better in their lives.

Characters that you care about in situations that are entirely believable are part of what makes this such a strong book. Like the reality it mirrors, there is sorrow and joy in this book as the characters make tough decisions. I found it uplifting and inspiring which is often the case for a Debbie Macomber book. Any Dream Will Do is a deep meaningful powerful book.

I always enjoy reading a book where the author can draw the reader so far into the story that they feel they are a bystander watching it all unfold. In this instance I felt I was not only there but could feel ever emotion felt by the two main characters. Despair, forsaken, hope and budding love being a few of the many tugs one felt while reading this uplifting story. A convicted felon and a widowed pastor, with two small children, both trying to do what is best. A truly heart warming and string tugging love story that will make you feel better.

I have given this book a five star rating and would recommend it to anyone else looking for a book that will leave them feeling better.

Debbie Macomber uses the themes of deceit, disappointment and unfairness in this lovely story of redemption. It's a familiar tale with new and interesting characters -- a woman dealt a difficult hand by her brother, a pastor worried he has lost his way, people whose work is devoted to society's outcasts. I won't reiterate the plot; I do encourage you to read it. This is a reminder that a mustard seed of faith can thrive and grow; that even the most pious among us have prejudices and flaws; that love can arrive at the most unexpected times.

Shay is a woman who has had nothing but bad luck. She helps out her baby brother and it ends up with her spending 3 years in jail and ruining her future. When she is released from jail she is dropped off in front of a church. She is scared, broke and has no place to go. She decides to go into the church to get warm. Pastor Drew is in a bad place too. His wife died 3 years ago and he is still struggling. He recognizes someone else in pain and tries to help Shay. He manages to get Shay into the Hope Program, a program designed to help people get a fresh start.

This is a story about relationships fresh starts, heart break and joy. I liked the characters in the book. This is a great summer read. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Thanks to Net Galley & Penguin Random House for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Shay is a good person. Too good for her own good. Because of it she ends up in a lot of trouble and has to rebuild her life.
Drew is also a good person. A minister, father and widower, he is trying desperately to keep his head above water and still find meaning in his life.
As the two lives crisscross over a span of time, the two manage to find, not only themselves, but a love and joy that they never imagined they would find.

This book is a quick, sweet read that left me feeling warm inside. Just what I needed at the time. Note - this book is overtly Christian but not preachy. Overall a wonderful, enjoyable read.

She truly wove a magical story of second chances and second chances at love. Pastor Drew Douglas is the leader of the towns local church and father to Mark and Sarah. ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Shay was just trying to help her brother, and for that she went to prison.
Now that she is out, she does not know what she will do.
Pastor Drew gave Shay a chance.
It seems that Shay was in the right track.
She was starting to feel like she belonged again.
Then, everything came crashing down.
Accused of the crime as before, Shay still will not tell the true.
She went to prison to protect a loved one.
Will she do the same thing again?
This was some a moving story.
I was rooting for Shay from beginning to the end of the book.
She deserved a HEA.
Love the book! + Love the ending!

This is a wonderful story about second chances. Shay has not always made the best decisions, including helping out her brother which left her in prison. The day she is released the bus drops her off in front of a church, and hat is where he life changes. Overtime, Shay is given a lot of opportunity to change her life, including finding love with Drew and his two children. Shay and Drew are put to the ultimate test, but in the end their faith in each other leads to a heartwarming happily ever after. Debbie Macomber has a way of bringing characters to real life. The story line had me from the first opening pages and I loved every moment of the book. This emotional journey is one not to be missed and I highly recommend this book.

I first heard of Debbie Macomber thanks to Hallmark Movies. This was an easy, vacation read. As a pastor's wife, I was interested to see how she would portray life in a pastor's family, I have to say she wasn't too far off (in terms of navigating church politics/expectations, juggling responsibilities at home and with the church, stresses/pressures, etc). All in all, I thought it was an enjoyable, light read (although there are some heavier topics addressed in the book - like addiction, abuse, death, etc). Was it life-altering, no. Was it an enjoyable way to spend a couple evenings, yes.

Don't know how Debbie Macomber keeps coming up with one great book after another. But she has another hit with Any Dream will Do! This book is about starting over and second chances. Shay was pretty wild when she was younger and got mixed up with a "bad guy" boyfriend. He led her and her brother down the wrong path. When she finds herself homeless, broke and a convicted felon she doesn't know where to turn. She steps into a Church for shelter and meets a local preacher who sets her on a path for a second chance at life and happiness.
One of those books you can't put down. You stay awake at night thinking one more chapter and before you know it, you've finished the book

I thought this was a sweet book about never giving up and giving second chances because no one is perfect. This was a different book that I have read from Debbie Macomber books. The book was about Shay a young lady who went to prison for helping her brother. When she is released, Shay has no where to go. Her bus drops her off at a church where she meets the Pastor who is a widower with two children. Pastor Drew is not in a good place himself, but after helping Shay, he starts to believe he will find love again. This is a feel good read. Where there is the feeling of hopeless, depression, and sadness, becomes hope, feeling better and happiness. Please take the time to read this.

Shay Benson is a felon having served time for embezzling money from her employer to help her younger brother pay off loan sharks. Drew Douglas is a widower with three young children. He is pastor of the church where Shay seeks shelter after being released from prison.

"Any Dream Will Do" is about Shay's and Drew's lives; how they sometimes take separate paths and at other times intersect.

The story started out a little slow for me, but in true Macomber style, eventually pulled me in with interesting characters and their developing relationships.

I really loved this book. I am not a religious person at all. Debbie Macomber's "Any Dream Will Do" does have a strong religious theme but in my opinion it's message of second chances will resonate with all types of beliefs/faith.

Shay is a young woman who has spent the past 3 years in prison for a crime that was committed to save her brother, Caden. Coming out of prison, Shay is determined to take responsibility for her actions and change her life for the better. Drew is a young pastor who is dealing with the death of his wife and the effects on his two children. When Shay and Drew meet, there appears to be an instant connection.

This book was well written and provided an excellent moral message of second chances. Readers will be enthralled with the story, especially as the connection between Shay and Drew develops.

It is hard for me to say that any Debbie Macomber book is a romance book. Yes, of course, there is a HEA, but her stories are so much more than that. This story is a story of redemption and second chances and I really don't mean that for the romance. Rather, this story has Faith as its foreground and the Belief that a higher power helps guide us all. This story wound its way around my heart as all the characters had such depth. This story had a quiet impact that left me feeling hopeful. I will leave it to others to summarize the plot. I just really enjoyed this book. Debbie Macomber does it again! I love her books! It is a story full of hope and second chances.

Shay risked everything in order to help her brother and ends up paying a high price. Will she ever be able to rebuild her life and dream again?

Pastor Drew Douglas lost his wife to dance and has felt lost for the last couple of years. He has not been able to get the passion he needs for his church and membership has suffered. Now he has to figure out a way to start fresh again.

Faith brought Shay and Pastor Drew Douglas together but will they be able to help each other. Pick up this book which is a quick and touching read.

I found myself doing some mental eye-rolling as I began this book. The characters were just too good to be true. A woman who had a history of gang involvement, embezzled from her employer, and went to prison for it - - but of course has a heart of gold and is honest and generous to unfortunates. Then there's the widowed minister who's a wonderful father to his two (also too good to be true) children as well as being a stellar pastor to his church. So yes, I could see where this story was headed - - but I got caught up in it anyway. It's an easy read and even if the story itself is 'too good to be true', it's an entertaining read.

I loved this book!! This was a little different from Debbie Macomber's usual style of writing but it was a breath of fresh air to me. What a great lesson on trust, faith, redemption and second chances just to name a few. The main character, Shay, has so much to overcome. The love for her brother who really does a number on her, her time spent in prison and her efforts to rebuild her life once released. It made me think that as a Christian, how many times do I sit in judgment on someone without really thinking of the consequences or circumstances, and just going on what you hear or read. Definitely thought provoking.

Picking up a book by Ms. Macomber is like a balm for the soul. While this starts out a little differently from her others, the wonderful storytelling we've come to expect is still there. She has a gift for creating magic on the pages. I love Shay immediately. Getting out of prison after three years, she feels all is lost. Until a kind stranger helps guide her where a future may be possible after all. This spans over a year so friendship and romance slowly develop. Pastor Drew is a rare breed of man who sees the good in others. If you're looking for a gentle romance, look no further.

I think this may be my favorite book by Debbie Macomber. I just fell in love with the whole family. It may just be the right book at the right time. LOL. Shay did what a lot of people have done, trying to help someone they knew they could not depend on to do what they said. What can you do, when your only family needs your help. I loved Richard and Sadie. I enjoyed the kids, as usual. Shay touches everyone's lives just by doing the little things in life. Bringing a cup of coffee and visiting with people, braiding hair, keeping secrets, baking cookies. I felt like I was losing my family when the book ended.

This was a quick read for me. I enjoyed the story and did not mind the religious tones at all. I normally shy away from any book that contains too much religion. It can get in the way of the story, in my opinion.

But, this book was a beautifully written story about starting over and forgiveness and it really struck a chord in my heart and my thinking. The characters were well developed from Shay to the most minor character. I felt a part of the story which is rare.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House - Ballentine for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is another winner by Debbie Macomber! I have yet to read a book by her that I haven't LOVED! Shay has a brother that she will do anything for, he presses the point when he askes her to steal money from the bank she works from. When she does and she goes to jail, she thinks she has thrown her entire future away. When she gets out of jail, she wanders into a church. Her entire world changes! She meets Pastor Drew, he has his own struggles to overcome. This is a wonderful story of people overcoming struggles, meeting challenges, and finding love in unexpected places. I absolutely LOVED this book!

Usually I love Macomber's stories and I look forward to their mix of romance and women's lit. This one fell a little flat for me. The whole book just felt overly preatchy to me, so far as an actual preacher as one of the primary characters. I liked Shay's story and the relationship she has with Drew's kids, I just never really felt Drew's character and that made the whole romance half of the book not work for me at all. If you love everything you've read by Macomber, you will probably enjoy this book, but if you are just looking for a nice romance, this may not be the book for you.

When I see the name "Debbie Macomber" on a book jacket, I know I am in for a treat. Her books are filled with uplifting emotion that make the reader want to keep turning the pages. This book, ANY DREAM WILL DO, features two people who have had heartbreak in their lives. The story line weaves around their lives and learning to have faith enough to love again. It is a little darker than some of Ms. Macomber's work, but no less special. I felt encouragement in Shay's experiences and convictions. This truly is a feel good story that is well worth your time. Highly recommend!

I really loved this book. It was spiritual and uplifting. Shay tried to help her younger brother, and as always happens, ruined her life in the process and enabled him to continue his path of destruction. So typical of this type of situation. Been there, done that - but not to the extreme punishment that Shay had to endure. This is a story of second chances. Drew is someone that you want to know, and you are so glad that Shay found herself in his path. An uplifting and satisfying journey of redemption. I recommend!

Any Dream Will Do by Debbie Macomber was an excellent story that I highly recommend. It is a journey full of hope and faith in others. The main characters are fully developed and work well together. Shay Benson always helped her brother that she loved. She paid the punishment for his wrong doings, but is ready to move forward with her life. She meets Pastor Drew Douglas and they become friends and help each other in ways neither of them expected. This story moved at a steady pace and was full of both struggles and renewed trust and hope.

Thank you Mrs. Debbie for writing this series. I've been dealing with a lot of problems lately, recently divorced. Reading the series and finally, "Any Dream Will Do", has helped me tremendously. Reading the books in this series, was like a healing process that I desperately needed. If anyone out there needs healing, help for depression, or just want to give up, please read this wonderful lady's books in this series. I also enjoyed "Last one Home", the first on the series. Thank you again, for giving me hope and a promise for a better future.

This isn't a typical romance. I really enjoyed it. It moved me to tears too. It is all about love, sacrifice, second chances and redemption. The hero and heroine are not the typical types. A pastor and an ex-con. Although Shay isn't the criminal type, she did spend 3 years in prison. Drew had suffered a great loss when his wife died and left him with 2 children. Shay came into his life and helped him to see that he needed to live again, not just exist. So many are against their relationship and the question is what are they willing to sacrifice to be together.

Shay, paid the price for making bad choices in men (Shooter) and trying to save her brother (Caden). After serving her time, she had no where to go and no one to help her.
Slow moving story of finding hope and believing in dreams. Both Shay's and Drew's struggles were similar though different. Believing that something better awaits you when you've lost someone precious isn't easy. Enjoyed how Ms. Macomber displayed this and more in this clean, Christian romance.

Shay's younger brother Caden had problems with drinking and drugs and expected his sister to bail him out. While trying to help Caden she made some wrong choices. Now she is trying to get her life together and while doing so she meets Pastor Drey Douglas. He believes in her and helps her get back on her feet.

I usually love all of Debbie's books and this one was no exception. If you like her books I think you will agree they are definitely worth reading Another great book by a terrific author.

I felt a minister and an ex-con is a unique story line. This is a story of second chances at love and at life for both the main characters, Drew and Shay. Shay, after first meeting Drew, found the Hope House. The Hope House took her in, gave her a food and shelter and counseled her while preparing and encouraging her for a future on her own. Drew had been crippled by grief for his late wife, barely keeping it together for his two kids and his congregation. After meeting Shay, he reached out to friends, started interacting more, and became a better Pastor. Their chance meeting became a catalyst that got them both on the right track with their lives. Although obstacles kept getting in their way from Shay's past and Drew's church, they managed to fall in love and be there for each other. I really cared about the characters and cried right along with them through their trials and tribulations. I strongly encourage you to read this book. It has now become my favorite book by Debbie Macomber.

Super sweet story of hope, redemption, and love. As with all of Debbie Macomber's books, I felt warm and cozy while reading this book. She has a way of drawing the reader in and making you feel part of the story line. Personally, I had a difficult time believing someone would be so gullible to do what Shay did that got her in her bad situation, but do know people do dumb things in the name of love. This was a charming quick read that would be perfect for a weekend getaway or to just stay home and read by the pool.

Once I started this book, I only put it down to let the dog out and to do my own business! Unlike some other readers here, I found it to be completely believable that that a young woman who had lost her parents at a young age would fall in with someone, anyone who might make her feel loved. For me, this book of second chances and redemption opened my heart wide. I loved the interactions among the main characters ...and the integrity that each ended up showing. This is a bit different from Debbie's other books. In this book, you will be challenged to think differently about loyalty, love, and criminals. Hope is found in this book. I enjoyed this book because I feel a calling to help those incarcerated. People are often put in jail, just for their bad choices. That doesn't always make them bad people. We get to see first hand how God works in mysterious ways. Poor Shay, she had no idea where to go, how to start over. She entered a church seeking warmth on a cold night and finds that there really are good people in this cruel world, and Pastor Drew Douglas is one of them.

It is beautiful to see God work in Shay's life as He transforms her.

I love Debbie Mac (as I like to call her). Her books are always entertaining and easy to read. Although they usually contain fairly serious subject matter, somehow they're also light and breezy. Any Dream Will Do is no exception. If you read If Not For You, this one is quite similar. The main character (Shay Benson) is a little rough around the edges. She's had her share of hard times, but remains a good person at heart. Her love interest (Pastor Drew Douglas) knows she has a past, but is able to see the good in her. I think my one complaint with this book (I'm not sure if this qualifies as a spoiler) is that, just like in If Not For You, when Drew realizes he's in love with Shay, he tells her he wants to see other people! I understand that he wanted to make sure that what they had was real, but I will never understand why people can't just be happy and enjoy the relationship they're in. Why question it? If you enjoy someone's company, be with them. Why waste your time trying to see if you can find someone better? It just doesn't make any sense to me. (End rant.) Otherwise, I thought this had a really good message (like all of her books). I would definitely recommend this to Debbie Mac fans and anyone who enjoys inspirational books. 3.5/5 stars.

Shay will do anything to protect her brother, including embezzling money from the bank where she works, which lands her in jail. When she's released, she's dropped off in front of a church. She thinks she's alone in the church, only to find out that the Pastor is there. Drew is still mourning the loss of his wife and a bit at lost ends. He sets out to help Shay.

I am a huge Debbie Macomber fan, so I was excited to read and review this book. I have to say, I think this is one of her best! Shay, the main character, is someone you want to root for from the beginning. She tries to help her brother, her lone remaining family member, and ends up paying a huge price for it. The characters all seem so life-like that you feel as if they are standing there before you while the story unfolds. This is definitely a must read!

This is a different romance than others I've read of Debbie Macomber's. It is a faith based Christian romance. That's definitely not a bad thing, just different than other books of hers, at least the ones I've read.

Shay Benson has had a hard life. She was physically abused as a child, grew up without a mother, fell in with the wrong crowd. She started getting her life turned around and end up for three years in prison after helping her brother - an act she knew was a mistake but did anyway.

When she gets off the bus in downtown Seattle after being released from prison, she is at a terribly low spot in her life and ends up sitting at the back of a church, trying to figure out what she can do with her life.

Pastor Drew Douglas is in his church praying, trying to find some meaning in his life. His wife died of cancer three years ago and he has two young children and no joy in living.

These two wounded people find each other and find that the other fills an empty place in their heart that nothing else has done.

This was a well thought out story with romance, love, faith, answers to prayers, hope and dreaming big.

I received this book from Random House through Net Galley in exchange for my unbiased review.

I absolutely adored this book! I so appreciated the outlook of faith, the redeeming of oneself. There is one part where Shay speaks of not letting the judgmental religious type take away from her faith or how she sees God. I pointed to the book and was like, yes! That's it! I loved it! Alex just infuriated me, but gained my respect when he could step up and do the right thing. This book restores your faith in mankind and the church.

I like be Debbie Macomber books! This was not my favorite but it was good. The themes throughout were new to any of the other novels I have read from her but none the less still treaded in the same waters. It was sweet to see the love between the two main characters, Drew and Shay. However, the best love story was between Shay and Drew’s two children. She was everything they needed and helped them to become a family again!

This book is about second chances. Shay's kryptonite is her brother Caden. She would do anything to keep him safe. Only this time he hung her out to dry. After 3 year in jail, she has nowhere to go. But fate left her off the bus in front of a church. From there everything changes. Pastor Drew is having a crisis of faith. For 3 years he has been dealing with the death of his wife. Two people in search of redemption. It seems God has plans for these two. They will have to fight for their love but in the end, it will all be worth it. This is an advance copy from Net Galley and the opinions are mine.

Really liked it! Having read many of Debbie Macomber's popular novels, I found "Any Dream Will Do" to contain all the best of Debbie Macomber's writing with a fresh new impact . . deep spiritual dimension and real faith substance. She has created a gripping, poignant story that really made me care about characters Shay Benson and Drew Douglas. When Shay's story unfolds the deeply touching details of the punishment Shay endured in an effort to protect her brother Caden brings new meaning to "No good deed goes unpunished." She not only receives no credit for laying down her life for he brother, but the price she pays is severe and finding her way back seems impossible.

Not just an entertaining story, but will inspire your faith and provoke deep thinking.

Macomber is probably opening some eyes with this book...and hopefully opening some hearts as well.

A wonderful story of redemption and second chances. Debbie Macomber has done a great job of bringing us realistic characters who will touch your heart. Fast paced and full of tender moments. A widowed pastor with two young children gets a new spark when he meets and counsels Shay. Touching and tender. I read a reader copy via Net Galley and voluntarily chose to write a review.

This is such a heartwarming story. Shay's story of redemption is well worth the time to read. It's great to see how a person can get a second chance if they're willing to try & change their ways. Drew is an incredible pastor & friend in this story dealing with his own loss & heartbreak. His children are as well. This story is encouraging & I'd highly recommend reading it.

Imagine doing a favor for family and it end up landing you in prison... imagine after three years there, you emerge with nothing but a sack of things and no where to go... all you want truly is a second chance to be better, to prove you are not a thief... and that you are worth something.

If any of this sounds at all interesting, this book will take you on that journey and show that a second chance might be all you need.

I absolutely loved this book. Debbie has done it again this book is about a woman making the wrong decisions and then getting a second chance at life. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down. Debbie always has a message in all her books and this one is no different. I would highly recommend this book. I would like to thank Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this ARC novel.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. I never hesitate when a new Debbie Macomber book is released, she is such a wonderful storyteller and her books are always well worth the read. I loved this story from beginning to end! A heartwarming story with a wonderful cast of characters who make you believe that a second chance is available to everyone who seeks it. Highly recommend!

Heroine Shay definitely takes good advantage of the second chances offered to her in the story, I did find it took a while to get into the story--Macomber quickly glides thru Shay's prison time (served all three years of her embezzlement charge) to her release. The chapters alternate between Shay and Pastor Drew, which propelled the story into a smoother rhythm as it went along. It was a nice, easy read.

Debbie Macomber does it again! This is one of the best books I have read—-all in one day ( I rarely allow myself that pleasure). It captivated me with it’s twists and surprises. Thank you, Debbie!

This is a must read story about second chances, building friendships and finding love when you least expect it! The story line has regret, guilt, hope and faith. This is an emotional read and I found it hard to put down. The characters are strong but are also vulnerable. With faith and love, anything is possible!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book; all opinions expressed are my own.

WOW! I think this is the best story ever written by Debbie. I loved the fact that basically everyone deserves a second chance. I enjoyed this book even more than most romances as it did NOT have any bedroom and/or shower scenes - Just a romance story from the heart. I will buy this book for friends and family during the holidays as there isn't any embarrasing scenes. Keep up the good work Debbie Macomber! 5 stars!

Another great read by Debbie Macomber. This book is a story about redemption and starting over. Shay is standing in a church, freshly released from prison with no money, family or plan. One step away from being homeless she is given a chance for recovery. This was a truly warm, fuzzy read as most of Macomber's books are. Yes there is tragedy and bumps along the way, but you feel better about life at the end. I really can't explain it, but her books always make me believe in happily ever after and in this crazy world who doesn't need a little of that.
A perfect escape from life and a great beach read.

Shay has had a hard life and knows that something needs to change. Fresh out of prison with no where to stay she winds up in a church pew. The only other person in the church is Pastor Drew who is having trouble getting back on track after the devastating loss of his wife a few years ago. This is a wonderful powerful story of second chances, love, and faith. Excellent!

This book is good from beginning to end. Debbie has taken a different slant on this romance. There is conflict, forgiveness, resolution and more. This isn’t an overly sweet drama. It’s filled with consequences of the characters’ actions and church insider gossip. Yes, it is a love story, but not without a healthy dose of realism. Very enjoyable read!

I am not sure about this book but I did finish it. The story is set around Shay, who is recently released from prison and Pastor, Drew a widower with two children. They meet in Drew's church and eventually fall in love. However there are many obstacles for them to overcome before they can be together.

I have always been a Debbie Macomber fan and enjoy most of her books. This book, however, spoke to my soul. I love how it shows how the heart is full of love for everyone if you are open to it. This is a story of compassion and second chances. Beautifully written with characters I felt as if I know.

Any Dream Will Do is the best book I have read by Debbie Macomber in a while. It has heart, faith and love. It is a story of overcoming betrayal and hardships. A story of second chances when a tragedy leaves you feeling lost and at loose ends. Learning to trust and build relationships when you think there is no hope left. I enjoyed this book very much.

I have read several of Debbie Macomber's books and book series. This book was definitely different than most of her others but I loved it. In fact, I couldn't put it down and stayed up way too late to finish it and see how it ended. I really feel like it is one of her best books and liked the change in style from her others. The spiritual tone to the book was endearing also.

Beautiful story of redemption and second chances. A very religious theme but since this is what saved our lost heroine I quite enjoyed all the aspects of it. The preacher and his children were just as lost as our ex-con and when they all come together the beauty of it was stunning. Debbie Macomber knows how to make a reader feel.

Hard to believe this was written by an experienced/successful author such as Ms Macomber. Very disappointed. I've read a lot of her work and thoroughly enjoyed - recommended highly. This just seemed like it had to be written by someone else - someone with far less experience and know how than the author. I struggled to finish the book - waiting for that "Macomber Magic" to appear. Sadly, it did not. So very disappointing!

This story is different from other books by this author!!! There are not as many descriptions and it is not a feel good touchy type read. Instead, It has a serious theme-with consequences for actions! The characters are real life people with problems-perhaps Ms Maccomber is trying something new. Theme might be second chances, redemption, forgiveness!!! That being said, her books are always good!!! I reviewed this book for the store Vine Program! This is one of my favorite authors! She is amazing! Second chances!

I love Debbie Macomber. She draws us in, inspires us, shocks us, then redeems us. She brings words to life in the most magical way. This is one of my favorites of hers. I loved the characters, even with their baggage, and longed for more. Could not stop reading this story.

Every book that Debbie Macomber writes gets better and better. I warn you now to have tissues ready. You will meet Shay and Drew and see how life works in mysterious ways. When all hope is gone, you have to believe in yourself first and trust in God. This is a book that should be read by all.

I have read all of Debbie's books and am a big fan. This is a story of redemption. Making bad choices doesn't mean you are a bad person. Nor does it seal your fate for life. You can always turn things around. I did have a hard time getting into this book, but it had a great ending.

An uplifting story about love, loyalty, hope and redemption with more depth than the Ms Macomber usually has in her books. Don't know if this will be a series, but can see the potential there.

I typically think of Debbie Macomber romances as the lightest of light reading. Any Dream Will Do was very pleasantly surprising. I liked the characters in the book and the strong theme of overcoming past mistakes. I thought of it more as women's lit than fluffy romance. I liked it!

Not nearly as good as her other books. Character development was minimal, the plot too thin, and even as a Christian I found it too "preachy." Of course I'll read her again, she's one of my favorites, but this one was just meh.

I loved the story between Drew & Shay, the trials, the uncertainty, and the fact both Shay & Drew were both walking a new path together. You took us straight into this world and kept us there cheering, crying, wishing, and hoping all through this book. I absolutely LOVED this book! Loved the kids too! Thank you for sharing Drew & Shay with all of us. Wonderful Read!
