I haven't had a chance to try any of the spells yet, but, as usual with Scott Cunningham's work, this is a pretty good book. As one who resides in the upper mid-west, the snow spells will definitely be nice. :)

The meat and potatoes of European folk magic, the actual craft the witches of old used to practice. This is pure spellcraft at it's finest. The book is backed by years of research and experimentation. This book continues where his first book ,Earth Power, left off. This book is a must.

Natural magic uses the four elements of the planet: Earth, Air, Fire and Water to perform your spell. There are no fancy complicated rituals or tools. Natural magic is all about combining your personal power with the power of the element to achieve your result. Natural magic does not require any ornate tools or altar and most of the spell can be performed any where. This is outdoor magic. Magic is using your will to influence reality in a way that you desire.

The rituals are relatively simple which is what I like. To perform your ritual you will need to gather your tools. Again they are not complex. They will be simple things like herbs, stones, candle etc. Things you can easily obtain or may be lying around your house. once your materials are gathered you will have to take a few moments and relax. While doing your ritual think only of soultions or desired outcomes. Your next step is to visualize your outcome and charge up your tools. Ussually when doing a spell, but not all the time, there is a rhyme or chant that you say over and over again. You will then build up your energy by usually tightening up all the muscles in your body chanting or rapid breathing. While doing this hold on to your elemental tool (stone, herb, water etc) with your receptive or non- writing hand. This combines your personal energy with the elemental energy. Once the ergy is built up and you can no longer contain it then you push it through your projecctive or writing hand in to an object. This releases the energy so it can do it's work. The spell can be done as many times as needed.

This great little book of folk magic is just that folk magic and not Wicca. In the following chapters Scott Cunningham list spells forr each of the four elements. There are also chapters on star magic, candle magic, ice magic, magnet magic etc. There is a spell for just about every need , everything from breaking addictions to money and love. The books closes off with a teaching on how to design your own spell. Contained with in the chapter are symbols associated with different goals along with colors, elements and herbs. Word to the wise do not use magic for negative purposes such as to harm people our influence their will. If you want to heal someone you have ton nask their permission.

At the end the of the book there is bibliography if you are intersted in researching more on spellcraft and natural magic.

This book is among my favorites in my Pagan library. I have had it since it was published and have over the years bought several copies. It's either been referred to so much it's fallen apart or has been borrowed and never returned. The brilliance of Scott's teachings are that he teaches only what's worked for him but he gives permission to you as Practitioner to evolve into your own Witch - you can tweak the spells so that they work for you and he applauds that and suggests that you do just exactly that. I have always had nothing but respect for the man and his writing - and am sad that he's no longer in this world to write more and share more of his wisdom.

This is a great book to give to a new witch, one who is just starting out on their path and also for those who're perhaps more jaded and have been on their path for decades and maybe needing a reminder as to why they stepped onto this way in the first place - there's inspiration in these pages.

Also, the illustrations by Robin Wood make me want a coloring book of those pictures as well!! Stunning work all around!

Right on the front cover of this book are the words "More Techniques of Natural Magic." This is an extension of "Earth Power : Techniques of Natural Magic" ISBN: 0875421210. It never clamed to be a beginner or a stand-alone end-all-be-all book. I am personally using it as an extension of "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" ISBN: 0875421849, the real place to start. For those people starting from near ground zero with the Solitary Practitioner behind them this will keep you going. For those people in the know, it never hurts to find a book that tells you what you know in a different way.

Now for some practical review information:

. Includes more than 75 spells, rituals and ceremonies

. Provides detailed instructions for designing your own magical spells

. Instills a sense of wonder concerning our planet and our lives

. Promotes a natural, positive practice that anyone can successfully perform

Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner (Includes Author's Book of Shadows)

Who ever tells you this is a bad book is either lying or badly misinformed. Those who say that this book is a narrow minded book on witchcraft are obviously into the wrong kinds of magick. Love spells are not made to take over someone's free will, they are meant to bring the right person to you. I'm sorry for attacking those into different paths than myself, but by thinking that it is ok for people to take over someone's free will, you are giving us Wiccans and Witches a bad name (and by the way, there is a difference between wiccans and witches). Read the Wiccan Rede- "An ye harm none, do what ye will" This is a very good resource for spells. Scott Cunningham was one of the best Wiccan authors out there.

Scott Cunningham is quite the writer! I loved this book, and have since allowed 3 friends to borrow it. And they love it too. I am just beginning wicca, and wanting to learn all I can right now. This book really put things in perspective for me. Taught me alot about the religion that I was not aware of. And also broadend what I did know. Most books that I have read on this subject, seem to go in circles with the author pushing his idea upon the reader. Scott Cunningham leaves it up to the reader to decide about the techniques he uses. A very pleasant approach for all beginners. I will be purchasing more books by Scott Cunningham.

With the powers and spirits of the earth all around us Cunningham shows us how to bring this energy into our every day lives. You can use these spells as a base to build other more complex spells. They are also easy to use in circles and out of them as well. A must have to add to the first. With more elements than the first book you dive deeper than before into a magickal life.

For those who are into folk magick you may just love this one so much you wont be lending it out. This book will teach you about the elements and how to do spells with them. Eventually you can master the elements though some just want a freindship with them; thats your call on that one. Anyway the spells are not complicated some are quite simple. They have been effective most of the time for me. This is good for the beginner and the advanced.

If you liked the first book you will enjoy Earth, Air, Fire & Water: More Techniques of Natural Magic as it offers a LOT more spells to do. Since Cunningham went over a lot of principles on how to use spells in the first book, he has resereved more room for spells in this book......so expect more spells! This book is for those who enjoy simplistic spells or are just starting out and do not want to get too deep into what they are doing!

Another two thumbs up and a posthumous thank you to the late Scott Cunningham who as usual has researched and written a book
one does not want to put down. As with all of Cunningham's books, I learn something, usually a lot, and learn it in a way where I feel he is really dedicated to the path and wants to help teach people, not demean anyone or be condescending. I say a prayer nightly for him, and may he be in peace in the Summerlands or beyond. May those who actually knew him be comforted by the fact his words live on and influence many.

Cunningham has graced us with a wonderful book to assist the novice or veteran practitioner. As with all of his books, positive and potent information is shared. I can't get enough of Cunningham. His books should be a part of the collection for a solitary or practicing group.

I am only just about 15, and I just became into the practice. This book was my first book and I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who is willing to have an open mind, except for my mother. She can't except me for who I am.

I am proud to have any Cunningham book on my shelf. He is the absolute best of the best. I always refer to his books when I need a spell. Read Cunningham and you wont go wrong. This book as well as its prequel, Earth Power, are excellent sources of natural magick. Blessed Be!

Please see my review of Earth Power by this author. No matter if your beginning or if your an elder in the craft, this book is presented in a way you will benefit and enjoy. The author, has a way to take you deep into the natural world of magick, and you can grow while doing it. Always in our thoughts, blessed be unto you Scott Cunningham.

This is a lovely companion to his Earth Power book. Again, you can't be disappointed reading this book. It has many spells and rituals! One of my favorites chapters is the one he covers on Star Magic. Absolutely great <3

Earth, Air, Fire, Water was the first magick book that I purchased. Definitely money well spent. It is fun trying to make your own spells, and learn about different meanings of candles and other things. There are basic magick elements. The Elemental Profile in the beginning of the book is incredibly helpful with everything else that is magickal, or supernatural even. I use the Elements to interpret my cards and such. This book is definitely worth the money.

Learning how to be a mage involves a lot more than rituals. It involves psychological changes, encountering reality from different perspectives, and cutting through the subjective structures that make up our reality in order to design a new worldview that allows you to make the changes you desire. Unfortunately, like almost all books on wicca, this book ignores this integral first step, and concentrates solely on rituals which are relatively worthless without this self-initiation.
I'd suggest checking out some useful works on Chaos Magick, such as those by Phil Hine and Peter Carroll, before starting any of this work... without a proper understanding of the Great Work, your efforts will be useless.

I've owned this book for quite some time, and I use it as a reference guide for both daily household spells and specific issues. It's very well written; I can see Cunningham in my mind's eye while reading this. He really put his heart and soul into these books.

This was the first of his books that I bought. When I was a bit younger and first getting interested in Magic, I was ploughing through a pile of "New Age" books, and came across this. Even though it's an extension of one of his other books, it doesn't have to be read like that. He refers back to it a couple of times, but it's really a guide, and ought to be used as thus.

I highly recommend it. Whether you're beginning or just want to brush up on some other spells, this guide is beautiful.

My dad gave me this book when I was about five years old. I fell deeply in love with it and it was what first got me interested in the occult. It was, Ironically, destroyed by the fourth element in the title when my basement flooded and i havent had a chance to read it since but I still remember it clearly. It's Almost as if it had transfered part of its spirit to me when it was destroyed.

Earth Power is a fairly acceptable book that Earth, Air Fire and Water tries to expand upon and fails.
Neither book is REALLY worth purchasing, but this one less so.
His Wicca books are FANTASTIC, and these lesser works skate on the quality of those good ones.

It made me look closer at things like the earth and it's plants. Their shape and colour. The air, and how fresh it actually is. The fire, and how peaceful it can be. Water, the energy it has. It read about the stars, and rocks giving useful rituals that are all natural. This is a terrific book for wiccans of all types.

I personally found this book to be a disapointment, save for the chapter on formulating your own, personal rituals. This book lacked some of the basic knowledge that beginners need to learn in order to be successful...for example,,effective ways to raise and focus your personal energies.

Some people wrote that Scott Cunningham (may he rest forever in peace) is very narrow-minded. These people are not true Wiccans. The rule is you cannot be the one who causes harm; and you can ask any expeianced Witch; most Love Spells *are* a form of manipluation. Do not liste to them; theyre just annoying people who buy a book or two on witchcraft, do a few spells, and call themsleves witches. Thank you for listening, and Blessed Be!

This is coming from someone who studied witchcraft for years. I suppose this book is easier to follow because it's dumbed down. There are basic ideas for making your own spells at the back of the book. They seem fun and nifty, and would be cool, except for the major fact that spells don't do anything. Once a person realizes this, spells lose all of their appeal.

There is lots of information on which herbs, stones and colors are "helpful" for whatever thing you want. Of course there is no scientific proof that any of these things will help you (with the exception of a few herbs that have medicinal value) other than being aesthetically pleasing, but collecting all these nifty things is the materialistic part of wicca. Wiccans then contradict themselves by saying that you really don't need any of these things; just your mind. Then why do people waste money and resources acquiring all this junk?

He talks about the four elements of earth, air, fire, and water. This is what the Greeks thought of as the elements that made up everything in the world. In the many centuries since, real elements have been discovered, but people still talk about the "four" elements--another example of using symbolism for its own sake. He also talks about "positively charging" things by holding them and focusing on them. I'm sure he doesn't even realize that to actually positively charge something, you need to add particles to them on a molecular level.

I'm sure that you will enjoy this book if you are gullible enough to believe in wicca. It is nothing but wishful thinking. None of it is real, and contrary to trendy opinion, wicca is just as fake as every other religion.
