While My Pretty One Sleeps

I thought this book was the best book I have ever read. I will never forget this book. This story was a woman named Ethel. Ethel was an author and was also murdered in the book. The question is "who murdered her?". There are a few suspects. The first suspect is her nephew. He used to steal money from her quite often. The second suspect is her ex-husband. He has to pay 1,000 dollars alimony due to their divorce. Finally, the suspects are also some people, in which she was digging information about for her new book about "Fashion Business". Her murder was done exactly like the old police commisioners wife, slit right down the throat. His daughter Neeve is worried about Ethel because Ethel was supposed to pick up her clothes from Neeve's (Neeve's is a clothes store). So, Neeve starts telling some people about how Ethel didn't come get the clothes.Her cold and lifeless body was found in a park. Everyone is trying to find out who the killer is. So, who murdered her that is something you are going to have to find out on your own. This book is a very interesting book. I never wanted to put it down. You can tell Mary Higgins Clark really gets into writing; she is such a great author. I recommend to people that like mysteries to read this book.

A fashion writer who is about to leak some important information to the fashion world disappears and is later discovered murdered. Fashion designers, her nephew and ex husband and second wife all have something to hide. The question is - who has the most to hide and who will act on it?
This story is full of wonderful suspense and it kept me guessing all the way through to the end.

Ethel Lambston's body was found. The main suspects for the murder are: Douglas Brown, her nephew who will get all her money if she dies (she is rich), and her ex-husband, Seamus Lambston who has been giving her alimony checks ever since the divorce. All the clues point to both the suspects.
When Neeve's mother was killed, her family thought it was Nicky Spetti, but when Ethel's throat is the same as the one on her mother's neck, Neeve thinks otherwise.
I liked this book a lot. There were three suspects, and you never know who did it until the last four pages. It was a page-turner.
I read tons of books than this one. In the others you normally find out who killed the person in the middle, but then you have to find the person. In this one you find out in the last pages, and the person is right there.

Picked up my first Mary Higgins Clark title after reading the 'glowing' reviews about how this is a breathless suspense novel written by a master of the genre. Yeah, not so much.

Dreadfully dull story: I've seen more intricate plots on TV dramas like Law & Order. Gaping holes in logic, and incredible coincidences. Characters are more flat than the paper the novel is printed on.
Forgettable writing: Pointless description of fashion and clothing that makes you wonder if the author wanted to put together a fashion sketch book rather than a novel. Endless detail of clothing that add NOTHING to the plot, I found myself skipping entire paragraphs to get to something relevant to the story.

I am by no means a prolific reader nor a literature professor and I have indulged in the occasional cheap paperback while stranded at an airport and found some entertainment in those books. And YET, even with those lowered expectations, this book still disappoints. Trust me, I'm not some snooty reviewer who would never be satisfied. This book will insult your intelligence and waste your time and money. Give the money you would pay for this book to an animal shelter or blow it on some good ice cream. Either one would leave you more satisfied.

I just finished this book and the only residual sentiment I have is a frustrating feeling I want to reach into the book and slap the characters around for wasting 2 days of my life.

I am a hug fan of MHC books. I love to find out who did it! I also bought all of the movies and after reading the book, I watch the movie associated with that book to bring it to life. The movies vary somewhat from the books, but they are still entertaining. I especially liked this movie.

While My Pretty One Sleeps was excellant! The story was great, and in the end I had no idea the killer would be the uncle! I never thought the pacific reef drawings would have so much of an effect on someone life. And then when he spilled the water all over the cookbook, I didn't even think much of it until the end.

Neeve Kearny is the heroine of this suspenseful novel as she tries to figure out what happened to Ethel Lambston, a gossip columnist who is one of her customers. Unfortunately, no one seems to care that she is dead! Neeve is deteremined to find the murderer and the murderer is determined to keep Ethel's death a mystery! This book is definitely a page turner.

Mary Higgins Clark does a great job with the classic "who done it" with flare. This book was a page turner, I read it in one long sitting. The plot was fresh, the ending was twisted ... I really enjyed this book and I recommend it to anyone who wants mystery with a hint of romance.

Mary Higgins Clark never disappoints! It was a very good story and she made you keep guessing who the murderer was until the very end. The only complaint I have is against the people who are supposed to be proofreading the kindle version of the book - there were a ton of typos. It was difficult to read at times. I would have to re-read a sentence a few times and replace all the typos with the correct spelling or correct word. I found it very annoying. Other than the typos, it was a good book.

A slow start builds into a fascinating and suspenseful book. All the characters are well-built, and although the plethora of characters makes the book sometimes a little bit confusing, it's really just intricately plotted. This is just as good as Clark's Let Me Call You Sweetheart.

The story line was intriguing, suspenseful with an unpredictable climax. The writing was descriptive, almost to the point of being overdone. The typos were terrible! Almost every page had misspellings and/or words that were run together making it difficult to read cohesively.

While My Pretty One Sleeps is one of the best novels I have ever read. When author Ethel Lambstons designer notices Ethels disapperance she becomes worried and tries to figure out if Ethel had just run off or if something is terribly wrong. Neeve starts making visits at Ethels home and finds her nephew staying there. He says he has no idea where Ethel is and that she was supposed to meet him days ago and she never showed up. Then, Neeve is strting to be "stalked" and weird things start to happen to her. Neeve won't stop for anything until she gets to the bottom of this murder mystery.

"While My Pretty One Sleeps" is a thrilling and enticing murder mystery. I couldn't put it down. I love how Mary Higgins Clark uses romance, fashion, and adventure in one great novel! This is definatly on my top ten list.

i love her books and this was one of my fav ! i loved this one oh. a lot of characters but all of her books are very easy to read (for distracted people like me) and the vocabulary is very easy too, GREAT end! by the way

The wholw time I really wanted to be part of that family, they were actully very famous, yet kept sain and grounded lives. Its a great, great book.

Mary Higgins Clark earns her reputation as America's Queen of Suspense with While My Pretty One Sleeps. A sign of a good book is when you feel that the characters are your close friends, and I certainly felt that way with Neeve Kearny and company. The story leads to a climax that you would never expect, and I like that.

I enoyed this immensely and it is one of my favorite books by MHC. I didn't hit on the identity of the murderer right away. MHC's work is filled with sympathetic characters, particularly the heroine, I am always left feeling that if she really existed, I would want to add her to my circle of friends. A knack MHC usually achieves with all of her characters. An enjoyable read from a consistently good author.

After reading other authors, namely Clive Cussler, John Grisham and James Patterson, I guess I was expecting a little more from this author. Was told that she was a good suspense 'read'. It was all I could do to finish the book! Detailed, yes, if you like 'fashion' detailed ad nauseum, whether it was what the corpse was wearing or every other character in the story. Suspense? Only the last few chapters, when the author FINALLY started to pull everything together. As far as 'couldn't put it down' ... didn't happen. I would get bored with the story line and go find other things to do. After a day or two, I would pick up the book to read again. I was going to finish the book! ...even if it killed me..... :~)

While My Pretty One Sleeps is one of the best novels I have ever read. When author Ethel Lambston's designer notices she has been missing she decides to take action and figure out what is going on. She cuts along many paths to figure this mystery out. She is follwed, and puts herself in dangerous postions. Neeve believes there are many suspects in this case. She will go to anything to solve this mystery.

I am an 8th grader. I have read almost all of Mary Higgins Clark's books and I absolutely love all of them. This one probably average for her which is really good. At the end, I was really surprised at the killer but realized that there had been many clues I missed along the way. (I read it in 2 days.) Anyway, if you like any of her other books you'll probably like this one too!

The Climax never ended for me! Page after Page, I stayed on edge and could NOT put the book down. Mary Higgins-Clark is well spoken and got the point through to me as NO other writer could! I reccomend this book to anyone who is into suspenseful and mind boggling novels!I look forward to reading more of her novels!

I have read the majority of her books and this one is my FAVORITE! Every chapter, I would think I had it figured out until I would read the next chapter and then I would change my mind. She keeps you in suspense until the very end.
