Robin Hobb is a formidable writer always, but this latest trilogy is perhaps her best work to date. If you love Fitz and the Fool, these books are an amazing gift. However, be prepared to fall in love with several new characters.

The only bad part is waiting for the end and simultaneously longing for it and dreading it.

Stories are so like The Skill: Intoxicating, healing, powerful, and so easy to get lost in.

This is a wonderful continuation of the" Fitz and the Fool' storyline. I can hardly wait for the next installment. Robin Hobbs has become one of my favorite fantasy writers. I would highly recomend this serries.

Loved it! Been following the life of Fitz and I looking forward to the next one :) I identify so much with the characters . The story line just grabs you and sucks you in... in a swooning magical way :)

... and while I can't help but look forward to the conclusion of this trilogy, there's that little bit of panic in my breast as I "set" the book down. I've just recently stepped into their world, and the stage appears to be setting itself for the last hurrah of Fitz and the Fool. Or is it just my imagination?

In any case, the Farseers, their peers and their enemies are still as interesting as ever. I still get lost in their universe, and it's difficult to pause in my reading. However, there are times when each of them - Fitz, The Fool, even Bee, Nettle and Dutiful - really needed a good smacking to. There's just so much self-centeredness, in its many forms, to stomach. Good thing someone invariably comes along to do it.

But that ending?

Required reading for all lovers of fantasy and well written books. The only problem I had with this book is that its a book two, so, by its nature not a lot happens. Outside of that, this book is almost exactly what a fantasy novel should be. It contains complex, well developed, fallible characters and it was rarely ever predictable in the development of the plot. In sum, buy it.

I actually liked this book better than the one that preceeded it. While it did plod along in some parts I was still drawn into the story and thoroughly enjoyed it. Like all of the books in this series the end came too soon and left me wanting more (which is not a bad thing). If you are a fan of Fitz and the Fool, you will enjoy this.

Awesome, Is not descriptive enough for this writer. If you want to get lost in someone else world hers is the one to go to. She weaves different story line together seamlessly ... Her People come alive in a way Great authors can do with depth and flaws... If you havent read her other books i would do so as they fill in and fill out the book (which is still great on its own)

I find the friendship between these two people fascinating. There is always a conflict that threatens the love they have for each other. Yet I don't fear that love will lose out. It can't. Their love is always able to overcome fear, anger, jealously and whatever else threatens them. Fitz, the warrior, and his Fool, the dreamer will conquer the unholy Servants. Fear not!

I love Fitz and the Fool, and the complicated dance that their relationship is, and this is a rather good installment in their saga. I can't give it five stars because a fair portion of it feels like too much wheel-spinning and padding, and then Fitz makes the exact same mistake he made books ago and I don't know if that was a deliberate choice or this otherwise-fantastic author falling into an unfortunate pattern. But the writing is still compelling, and the Fool shines throughout. The supporting cast of this trilogy also is starting to come together, and the quest holds definite promise.

As usual Robin Hobb pulls you into the story. You are in there with the characters, you are part of the action and at the end you are second guessing what will be in the next book.

The facits of each character are further polished and expanded in this book. They are still who they were but one sees them in more detail. In some sections the rhythm of the book seems drawn out and very slow but I think the author is using this technique to mirror what the characters are experiencing.

OMG it is a whole year before we can read the rest of the story!

I've read most of Robin's books and she always tells a good tale. It's not the most sophisticated writing, but it's always enjoyable. Like all her stories, this one is very accessible without being puerile or sophomoric. It kept me reading page after page and I'm eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

Fitz takes a long time to wake up and smell the roses. What the reader can see coming or figure out takes Fitz 6 chapters to see the light. This made the book a bit plodding. He broods, dwells, rehashes the same thing for chapters, and I found myself saying out loud "Catch a clue!". Once the story actually moved it was very good. I did stay up all night reading this. Does not clear up a lot of plots. I hate writers that end books in such a way that you have to buy the next one. The next one always taking another year to be released.

I have never read any books that come close to being as good as robin hobbs books, if you havent read this book, youre living your life wrong. If you haven't read any books by robin hobb, im not sure you qualify as a human being. Read the book, then read them all again, then read them all again, rinse and repeat as often as you like, im working on my fourth round through.

To all of you who have been reading this.. have started from the very beginning, this book was for us. For us and Fitz and you won't regret a minute of it .
Of course it ends on a cliffhanger but seeing some things come to fruition was powerful and wonderful and I am so glad we finally got here .
