'The Burning World' is fantastic. For those who enjoyed 'Warm Bodies' (either the novel or the movie, although if you haven't read the book I HIGHLY suggest you do so), 'The Burning World' is an exciting and intriguing return to the world that Isaac Marion expertly crafted.

While hope is a constant thread throughout the novel, it does get pretty dark. The story explores the dark side of humanity and explores the consequences of trying to ignore the past and leave it behind.

Isaac Marion's writing has never been better. His prose is absolutely captivating, so much to the point where you just want to overindulge in it. His work on 'Warm Bodies' earned him a place in my top 10 for favorite writers, but this novel really solidified his belonging there.

I honestly can't say enough good things about this novel. You're definitely going to want to pick it up. You won't be disappointed.

What a great sequel to warm bodies. Isaac Marion has written a very well thought-out continuation to the story. While warm body's was somewhat playful- mainly a zombie romance (?)- Read it and see! This book was more urgent. It continues with the lives or R and Julie . R remembers much from his past life and how this whole horrific situation occured. What he remembers and subsequently learns is a must read for anyone who enjoyed Warm Bodies! I definitely recommend this book and highly recommend this whole series to anyone looking for a unique, highly creative read of a series that defies easy catiegorization!

I have already read this book through twice. Actually I've read all the R & Julie books twice. Isaac Marion has created a world where sometimes the zombies are more human than the humans, and there's always something new to discover and reflect upon. Read this book if you appreciate character driven, well written, contemporary literature. And because we really need the final book to be published so I find out what happens.

I really enjoyed this book, which follows what happens AFTER R turns human again. Hint, it's not just about using the toilet and learning to eat food again. There's plenty of action in this book and lots of unique twists and turns. We learn all about R's past, though his name still isn't part of the equation, and it's a fascinating, though harsh, story. Definitely worth a read.

Honestly I didn't want a sequel, It seemed over the top and like a money grab after such a self contained story. I put off reading it for a good three months after purchasing it, and honestly I regret every second of waiting. While the first book was character driven and remains one of my favorites this is the story of the world itself. Marion builds a fantastical world that has dark flashes of our own, it is both cautionary and fantastical. R continues to be an amazing protagonist, especially as he struggles to include his past. Marion's prose remains some of the most beautiful that I've read from a modern author, and he carefully weaves in quite a few twists that while shocking, don't feel like they're pulled from nowhere. While this book is dependent on a follow-up unlike the original if the next book is anything like this one it will be well worth the wait and money. Highly recommended for fans of the movie, book or just a random newcomer who is interested in post-apocalyptic fiction.

In the much anticipated sequel to Warm Bodies, we find our recovering zombie, R learning how to be among the Living again. With Julie at his side, R can see a future full of possibilities. Nora has her hands full with the transitioning Dead, as more of them become "Nearlies". Life in the stadium is finally starting to get better. Until a resurfaced organization forces themselves into the mix. The Axiom Group poses a new threat to our band of survivors. Introducing new characters for this installment and maybe... bringing back some familiar faces ;) The Burning World is quite the adventure. Return to the psyche of R and experience the next chapter of his story. You won't be disappointed.

Warm Bodies is not just another reboot of the classic Romeo and Juliette. (and not just because the heroes are alive at the end) But in the suggestions there was a deeper story to be had. With the Burning World, Isaac Marion fills out the deeper story well. Worth a few reads and rereads.

The author is not phoning in this book. He could have churned out a sequel when the movie was in theaters but he didn't. There is more dense beautiful prose and interesting world building than I expected to find in this book. There are clever ideas and characters you feel like you know. I'm speaking in vague terms because I think you should encounter this book without a flood of spoilers. It's worth the sticker price and more. I hope it's a big enough success.

Isaac Marion is a visionary. Surprising to find in the Young Adult genre. This sequel to "Warm Bodies" (a must read that will challenge your ways of thinking about modern literature) is completely satisfying. Can't wait to read the next book in the series, as soon as it comes out. This is not "just" a zombie story.

I loved this book! It was such a powerful sequel to Warm Bodies, giving us more from within the mind of R, but also giving depth to the struggles of his relationship with Julie. It gives the world surrounding these characters a lot more backstory and detail, which made me laugh an cry throughout the entire experience. If you've read the first book, you really should read this one and get even more immersed in the world of R and Julie!

After seeing The Warm Bodies movie I was intrigued to read the book. Warm Bodies proved to be a compelling, page turning story that I was quickly immersed in. The theme was quite easy to pick up on (think Romeo and Juliet with some twists) but also themes for modern day human experiences. I waited impatiently for The Burning World and was again pulled in by the writing, the crafting of stories in an imaginative and intelligent way. Again I saw the parallels from the story in the world around me. I wait impatiently again as the 3rd installment of this trilogy gets published!

If you liked Warm Bodies, The Burning World is a Must-Read! I never knew I could love a zombie so much. I am currently impatiently waiting for The Living (the final book in the series) to be published, so I’m probably going to have to reread the entire series again to get my fix.

Isaac Marion's prose is absolutely stunning and the story is enthralling. I was never bored once while reading this book, and the way the plot keeps unfolding in layers, like a rose in bloom, is truly stunning to behold. This entire series is amazing and I highly recommend it.

If you read Warm Bodies and enjoyed it, look no further for the next book you are compelled to read late at night and stays with you long after you’ve finished it. It has everything you could ever want in a story - Marion is a master of words.

Isaac Marion's The Burning World is a sequel to his first novel Warm Bodies. It is fantastic! I don't want to spoil any plot details but what I can say is that this sequel is entirely original, well written, and an engaging read. I like when authors write a sequel that stands on it's own legs and expands the lore of the original novel without repeating itself. Strange, dark, funny, and thought provoking. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants something weird in all the best ways.

Marion gave us another masterpiece. Warm Bodies was just a teaser of the epic story continued in The Burning World. There's much more than meets the eye to our shy R. As he searches for hope, his past finds him.

I love this series and I'm already looking forward to the next release! Marion's words are so DELECTABLE.
Great complex development for R and Julie... as expected with Marion, no arc is ever simple or straight foward but they are unerringly relatable, complex, and hopeful. Marion's works are sensory descriptions of journeys in a growth mindset–the belief that one's characteristics are not fixed, but can change and improve with work and time.
AND ON TOP OF THAT, these are FABULOUS fantasy stories to be inhaled as quickly as possible.

I fell in love with Isaac Marion’s characters and vividly detailed writing in Warm Bodies, and The Burning World only intensified that love. Darker than its predecessor, The Burning World takes you deeper and gives you even more to wrestle with, in the best way. Isaac Marion is an incredible storyteller and a fascinating world-builder. I absolutely cannot wait to read The Living!

I Love this book as it gives a further back story to R and Julie and lets us know what happened to the world......also I love the fact that Nora has a chance of seeing her baby brother again even if she doesn't want to remember him due to the pain.

Expands the much loved world of R and Julie in Warm Bodies. Whereas the first was a internal journey of growth towards humanity this one takes us on a wild road trip (of sorts) making us question how we got there and where we are going as a species. Thought provoking and heartfelt, I can’t wait to see where it finished in The Living.

If you think this is just another zombie book you’d be wrong. Like Warm Bodies the sequel goes deeper than that by examining the importance of relationships between humans and the role each of plays in keeping civilization civilized.

An amazingly written sequel all of us fans have been waiting for! Every turn and plot twist kept me on the edge of my seat as I read. I almost squealed in the middle of class when I was secretly reading during lecture. I can't wait to read the next installment and I hope the conclusion to this beautiful story does the world justice.

Isaac Marion's words were more than worth the wait, exhuming all that I had imagined and more.
The Burning World is darkly eloquent in its savage sadness, bristling with the bones of secrets and ideas that Warm Bodies & The New Hunger had only just exposed to the sun. The depth of its honest philosophy and its glimmering veins of hope will take your limbs but leave your heart; red, and pulsing, and waiting for The Living.

If you're not reading this right now, what are you doing? Ever heard of FOMO? Yeah, you're for sure missing out on something amazing if you don't read this book. Buy it, read it, then review it. You won't be sorry. You will transcend to a higher plane of existence.

I wanted to like it more than I did. I loved "Warm Bodies" and the prequel "The New Hunger" but this book was just too weird, too far flung and confusing at times. So different from the other two. His writing is good of course, but I just couldn't get into it.

Granted, there are some surprises that actually kept me reading, or else I might have dumped it around page 300. It's sad, since I was so looking forward to this book when I heard he was writing it. And there is supposed to be another one I see, but I will contemplate whether I will read that one after this little flop.

I just finished this book yesterday. I could not put it down. The author's voice is so distinctive - I love the tempo and the pattern of his writing.
This book is even better than warm bodies. It is so dark and redemptive at the same time. The third book cannot come soon enough!!!!!!!

...but still a compelling story. I feel like Warm Bodies could have and should have been a stand-alone. The second book in the trilogy is much longer than the first and often feels bogged down by too many details. The writing itself remains poetic, but even a beautiful poem can feel like it's run its course.

I especially enjoyed getting to know the history of R's first life and how it is connected to the current threat. I feel like all of this could have been told in 300 pages instead of 500.

I waited 6 years for this book just to be disappointed. This book was unnecessarily long. I loved warm bodies but this book had too many metaphors, used some words I couldn't even pronounce, and dragged on. Don't hate it but I don't love it either. It would've been better if they cut half of it out.
