I enjoyed this book. I am disappointed to have to wait for the release of the next one. The odds that the father could find the daughter and HIS daughter would be one of a small handful to survive a plane crash somewhat strains credulity, but if you can overlook that, it's a pretty good story.

Chris Pike writes a great story! He brings out the "real" in all the people he brings into his novel. It makes you feel like you are right there, step by step, the pace is fast moving and keeps you glued to each situation as it unfolds. Can't wait to start the next book!

This book is not a smooth and easy read, where you just easily slip into the story. I like to be swept into a story, consumed in the world the author creates. To much time is spent describing guns, it reads like a jerky instruction manual, even tho the idea for the book is great! I expected more from the reviews I saw.... . None of the characters are very likable, and few descriptions are given.

Can folks that aren't 'writers' truly script a great review. This book gets all the goodies that anchor a reader to The EMP Survivor Series Book 1. From the beginning, I was engrossed
with the story line, the action, descriptions of destruction and best of all with the characters. Anxiously awaiting more..!!

Of the several post EMP books I have read this is one of the best. The story kept my attention during the entire book which I read in two days.
The characters are well developed and the action and suspense are great. The story does depend on some strong coincidences but it's still great.
Most of I takes place outdoors with crashing planes, alligators and gunfights. I will get book two as soon as it comes out!

This short book has a really great story, very likable characters and is overall more believable than most others in the genre. I love shtf books, but most have some super prepper with nearly unlimited funds, guns, and supplies. This book is a refreshing change of pace. I can't wait for part 2

Life in east Texas has taken a turn. Law is meted out by the lawless, food is a commodity, and only the strong (or those weak minded willing to be puppets) will survive a new way of life without electricity. Looking forward to book #2.

I read a lot of books in this genre (well over 120 and the last year) and I would rate this book at the top of my list of favorites. Vivid characters, believable plot, well written and a good entertaining story. Once I started the book I could not put it down.

Although the story is a bit predictable the characters are likeable and realistic. The action is thrilling and exciting without going overboard to the point of unrealistic as so many do. A good solid read that leaves you wanting more. I can't wait for book two.

Read this yesterday, I was actually a bit surprised because it was short. MY own fault for not looking at page count.

I enjoyed the book, and looking forward to part two.
Brings forth the question:
What would you do if the power just went out?

The plot line is unsurprising, but it kept my interest. The decisions and solutions seemed plausible and logical. Once I understood the characters the plot and progression were also logical. I was pleasantly surprised by the theft proof horse.

This was a story about Dillon, a lawyer and a prepper, looking for his daughter Cassie after an EMP. He is in court right before this happened with his adversary Holly and ends up taking her along.
I expected the book to use alternating views of what happens with Cassie and Dillon instead it mainly focused on Dillon and Holly. The ending was unsatisfactory as it appears Cassie's story will be in the next book.

A good read. Lots of action and suspense. It's always good when the main characters have hidden assets to help them survive. This group seems likely to make it, with some trials along the way. Looking forward to the next installment.

Enjoyed this book, fast read. Will read book two. Hate the store for making me write eleven more words. Eleven eleven eleven, so there. I liked the book I took the time to type it, that should be enough!!

It seems a bit short, which is usually a good sign because it's going fast. But I've enjoyed both the characters, which is most important to me, and the setting and scenario. He has an easy writing style and I look forward to the next book. Good job.

I really enjoyed the characters and the relationship development. There is more depth here than most in this genre. The dog insights were a treat.I am anxiously awaiting #2. The book was very well written.

Unexpectedly good , enjoyed it more than other books in this genre. I liked the relationship building, along with the compassion yet pragmatism of the hero, Dillion. Will continue reading this series .

So far I'm enjoying the story although I didn't like the fact that it skipped from her ranch to them finding the Fishack. A lot could've been written between those two points . I'm looking forward to the second book !

I really enjoyed this book and I read a lot of post apocalyptic stories. So far it has just the right amount of survival information good guys and bad guys. Also can't have a good story with some romance. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next installment..

I have read a lot of post apocalyptic books and lately it has been a challenge to find one that was even worth finishing. Not so with this book. I enjoyed it thoroughly and am looking forward to the next episode.

I love reading EMP fiction. I've read quite a lot of them, many are good stories, but are full of mistakes. As a former newspaper editor and copy editor I'm attuned to errors. You can tell that Chris Pike cares and has had this book carefully edited. I know we all make mistakes, even top bestsellers have some. The storyline was a refreshing change, and the pace right on. Fantastic job and I look forward to Book 2!

Lately I have been reading several EMP series and have enjoyed the amazing imagination that created these stories. This is the best one and it clearly had a great proof reader. I am going to get book two immediately...

The author isn't bad just seems like he needs some more practice. The way he ends chapters was driving me nuts after the first few times. The story was also pretty good and had me hooked right up to the end. I won't add any spoilers but there were just way too many coincidences and the blind luck hinted at in the last chapter was just too much. I can keep my disbelief suspended for a lot but that one sort of pushed me over the edge. I may give the second book in the series a go just to see if it was going where I thought was.

If you have kindle unlimited give it try but otherwise I'd say give this one a pass.

I was really very pleasantly surprised by this book. It was suggested based on some of my other reading choices and I'd never heard of the author. For a first book, it was very readable and the editing was better than most. I'm looking forward to his other books in this series.

Believable premise. I grew up in the places this book is set in, so I can attest to the accuracy of the locations. Can't fault the weapons information. Still needs a few typos fixed, so I'd take off half a star. Recommend.

Good read. Interesting storyline. First post apocalyptic EMP book that didn't dive into the violent chaos of the first few days after. Rather, it stayed focused like the protagonist. Refreshing approach.

Although I did enjoy this story I still found some of the situations hard to believe, but then again who's to say unless it actually happened. Many books of this genre tend to be quickly written and published with glaring grammatical errors, but this one had very few. I am going to go start reading the second book now...

Great book Chris, I am a vet. All of this from your book could happen. We are so far removed from How to survive without the trappings of modern life. Home it will not be to long before your next book I'd ready. In the mean time I continue to learn how to do things and become more in tuned to doing life with out a lot of the fear of not knowing what to do if it all does hit the fan.

A great read full of all kinds of twist and turns. It keeps you reading all afternoon and sorry when the book ends. I am looking forward to book 2. I have every hope that the end of book two will end in a good way. Would not mind if there are several Moore books in this series.

I've read a lot of this genre lately and I have to say, this is one of the most well written stories I've come across in a long while. The author draws you in from the first page and it's almost impossible to put the book down until finished. I anxiously await the next one!
