Kate came into Devins very staid life like a storm. But like a storm, she brought fresh air. Devin had spent the past year and a half tracking down his former partner's killer. Even after everyone thought her killer had died in the same fire as she. But Devin knew better especially since the arsonist has started lighting more fires. So he calls on his former boss with the FBI for help. Enter Special Agent Kate Callaway. Yes she is green. But she is a Callaway with all her SF family connections. Plus she is a Callaway....Nuff said. The story takes many exciting twists and turns. Yes, of course there is romance. ? Did not see the ending coming. Nice surprise. Loved this book.

Barbara Freethy never fails to deliver s great book. Kate Callaway is sent back to her home town to help former FBIagent Devon find out who killed his former partner in a house fire. Devon is the hot head and Kate is the one who can reason things out. Lots of fires are going on and sling with them suspects. Together they figure out who to zone in on. Fabulous book.

FBI agent Kate Callaway is on her way to San Francisco for a family wedding when her boss asks her to make a side trip help an ex-agent with a cold case. Turns out she teams up with ex-FBI agent Devin Scott who had been single handedly pursuing a serial arsonist believed to be dead by both the FBI and the local arson investigators. His 18-month long crusade to solve the case which caused the death of his best friend and partner has alienated him from the very people he needs to help him solve the case. Enter Kate, who must first convince Devin that she can be of help to him with the case, and herself, that she wants to! She manages to do both, and they embark on a fast-paced, adrenaline fueled chase after clues, while trying to keep Kate's family (and the readers) guessing about their developing relationship. Overall a very satisfying read, especially since the identity of the arsonist comes as a surprise (didn't see that coming, and I am usually quite good at figuring out who the villain is). Of course, they eventually get their HEA. Disclaimer: I received a complementary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, which (by the way) I was happy to give.

Scott did it again, allowing assumptions to get him into hot water. To make it worse, the object of his assumption could possibly be a life saver for his quest to find the person who caused his partner's death. Unable to believe that the FBI had correctly solved the arsonist case, he left the bureau to go out on his own searching for truths he felt uncovered. In doing so, he had angered, been banned from and had doors slammed in his face.

Little did he know that Kate Callaway had been sent to give him one last chance to sway the official opening of the cold case. Kate didn't take kindly to his blanket assumption that she was just another wife who had been cheated on. In fact, it almost had her walking away from this man who had a haunted look in his eyes.

Will she give him a chance, will he take this little awkward help from his friend? Most importantly, will the two of them be able to do what he alone could not? Read Barbara Freethy's Tender Is The Night and immerse yourself in yet another Callaways saga.

Kate and Devin for me were the perfect couple, and this was an awesome read!!!
Once I started I couldn't put it down, because I was so excited to be reading another Callaway story. Kate was sent home to San Francisco early by her superior at the FBI to help out on a cold case for only 5 days. Boy what a 5 days it was, so much happened in those few days that kept me on the edge of my seat!! The person she was sent to help out was ex FBI agent turned PI Devin Scott who believes his late FBI partner Sam was murdered in a fire but not by the person they think did it. He believes the arsonist is still alive and is determined to get justice for Sam and nobody is going to stop him. Not even an arsonist.
It is full of action, twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat and the chemistry between the main characters really made this an awesome read throw in the bonus of meeting past Callaways and catch up on what they have been up to.

I have always been a lover of many kinds of fiction but especially romantic suspense novels. I am always on the lookout for a great new writer and recently found some books by Barbara Freethy...and I am so glad I did!

I had already read and LOVED the first two books in the Callaway series and was in the middle of bool 3 when I was given the opportunity to receive the audio book of this novel in return for an honest review, and I was not disappointed in this one. I was completely captivated by the story of former FBI agent turned PI Devin Scott and FBI agent Kate Callaway and their investigation into a series of arson fires. There was never a dull moment in this story and I had no clue how it would end until it was over! I love that this author was able to completely shock me with the ending! I am definitely going to go back and read the rest of the books in the series and look forward to anything else she decides to write.

I received an ARC for a honest review.

I read all the Callaways books and I really love every one... I love how Barbara writes love and thrillers in a captivating way, and each book is a lovely couple and a new suspense.

In this book Kate, an FBI's Special Agent, is back to San Francisco for the wedding of her twin sister, Mia, and back a little before to help a former agent, Devin Scott, in a cold case involving some fires.

Devin wasn't happy at first, but to live with Kate he realizes how much she is perceptive and able to help him, and she helps not only with the case, but in his life. And when the Mia's wedding comes we have one more charming and loving couple in the Callaway family!

The Callaways are a super family and love each other. And it's great to see some of the Callaways of the previous books. I'm already looking forward to Ian's story, the mysterious and silent family scientist.

The Callaways are back. In this installment you meet Kate Calloway, who is a first year Special FBI Agent, along with a private investigator Devin Scott who us trying to track down the killer of his partner, who died in an arson fire. Love the interaction between the two main characters. I don't want to give away any spoilers so that is all I'm going to reveal. This series is great because you don't need to read all the books to understand what is going on, although I recommend you do read them all. This book gives it all to you, with comedy, romance, mystery and a lot of fun thrown in. I will say I'm prejudice as I love all Barbara's books, so I am bias, but go ahead and give it a shot. I can guarantee you won't be sorry. Nice easy read. The only disappointment is that it ended and now have to wait for the next book.

I loved this book. I have read several of the author's books and so far this is my favorite. I tend to be a skimmer if an author is too descriptive or wordy or boring. I found myself reading every word in this novel. Kate is a FBI agent sent to help Devin a former agent turned PI. Devin is still investigating the death of his partner (18 months later) killed in an arson fire. The agency considers it a closed case but Devin doesn't. His former boss/Kate's current boss sends her to help him. I think the character development is great and the relationship starts out slowly and progresses quickly (when you read it you will understand). I normally can figure out "who done it" pretty quickly but I was surprised here. I highly recommend this book. I did receive an advanced copy of this book.

The 10th book in the Callaways series was a well developed mystery that kept my interest throughout. FBI agent Kate Calloway is assigned to assist private investigator Devin Scott in an arson case where his former FBI partner was killed. As they become acquainted, they develop a strong, mutual attraction. Interactions with the Callaway clan as they congregate for Kate's twin sister's wedding provided background for Kate's being in San Francisco and able to work with Devin. I loved their interactions and mutual respect for each other's abilities and personalities. Their working and personal relationships became important during their investigation of a number of serial arsons.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

First of all I love Barbara's style of writing. Her stories always have such great character development and likable characters. Tender Is The Night has those qualities along with the suspense, steam, romance and great family dynamics. Kate Callaway is a fairly new FBI agent assigned to help Devin a former agent who is trying to find the arsonist responsible for killing his partner. Who better to help than a Callaway (I mean they do have SOME fire experience in the family lol) Kate and Devin's relationship developed naturally without silly little problems. It was very real life. The suspense in the book flowed quickly along with the steamy romance. Another great Callaway book! One of the best series of books I've ever read!

You are going to love Devin and Kate! Our stubborn and snarky Kate was able to break down the walls Devin erected since childhood and built even higher since the tragic death of his FBI partner and best friend Sam. Kate had to convince Devin that she can help him solve the case that has eaten at him for the past 18 months, even though she is a new FBI Agen and in the end Devin realizes this is the best decision he has ever made. Kate uses her Callaway connections in the fire department and powers of persuasion for good. Just like her twin Mia, Kate has fallen and fallen hard. The suspense of the real arson is well written and the spark and connection between Devin and Kate is obvious from the start.

One of the great things about reading a series about a big family is that when all the siblings have had their HEA, there are likely to be cousins to meet. Such is this story, the second in the series of the cousins of the original Callaway family. FBI agent Kate Callaway comes home for her twin sister's wedding, but she comes a week early to help a former agent solve a mystery of the arsonist who killed his former partner. Plenty of mystery, great story of Kate and Devin's relationship, and visits with plenty of Callaways. This book held my interest throughout, and I never put it down willingly. Love Barbara Freethy's great mix of suspense and romance!

This book has it all. Suspense, intrigue and romance. And of course, family. This book focuses on Kate Callaway as she travels back to her home for her twin sister Mia's wedding. Arriving without telling her family, she meets up with former FBI agent Devin Scott. She has come to assist Devin in solving an arson case in which his previous partner was killed. This book has many twists and turns and you will be on the edge of your seat as the case is solved. Through Barbara Freethy's creative writing you feel the frustrations of the characters as well as their attraction to each other. I loved this Callaway family novel.

I throughly enjoyed this Callaway book. This book features Kate an FBI agent, and Devin a former FBI agent turned PI. Kate has been sent to help Devin work an arson case from roughly eighteen months ago involving the death of his partner.

Through the course of the investigation, Kate starts to get through Devin's walls, and Devin likes that Kate tells you how it is. Throughout, the book I was hooked with their interactions and trying to solve the case alongside them.

Even if you had never read a Callaway book, you wouldn't be lost. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It's a wonderful day when Barbara Freethy has a new book come out. I love the way she writes, it keeps me wanting to skip meals and keep reading. This book in the Calloway Series has it all. I love the suspense mixed with romance. The lead character in this one Kate is a strong female character and I especially like that. She's a new FBI agent taking a look at a cold case where and agent was killed and his partner thinks theres something to solve. As they work together there's danger, romance and wonderful dialog. Enjoy this book. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I'm so fortunate.

Wow!! Kate and Devin's love story is HOT!! And not just because of the arsonist they are after! It was great being back with the Callaway family. Kate Callaway is in her first year as a Special Agent with the FBI. Devin is a former FBI agent searching for justice for his fallen partner. Kate is asked to aide him in his search and sparks fly. I loved the balance of suspense and mystery with Kate and Devin's budding romance. And honestly didn't see the twist of who done it coming! Highly recommend this stand alone read. And truly think you will fall in love with the Callaways and come back for more!!

Absolutely loved this book. While I have not read any other books in the Callaway series, I had no difficulty reading this. I plan to remedy my lack of reading the earlier books in this series quickly!! Loved the story of a disillusioned retired FBI agent and the rookie FBI agent - each one having lots to offer the other. Little did Kate know when helping out on an arsonist case how she would get pulled in so quickly. Loved the interaction between the two of them, as well as the interaction of the Callaway clan. Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved this addition to the series. I found the premise a lot of fun with the rookie agent (Kate) and the experienced investigator (Devin) with history and a deep desire to see the arson case solved. Of course they join forces and bring about a lot of twists and turns in their efforts to solve the arson case. They also build a great love story about breaking down barriers and the meaning of being a team. It is a complex story that reels you in and keeps you going, never wanting to put the story down.

Another addition to the Callaway cousins series. Kate is an FBI agent, who is coming back to San Francisco for her twin sister's wedding, but first, she is assigned to help a former FBI agent, turned private investigator, to solve an arsonist case that killed his former partner. The book was well-written, with good character development, good banter and great chemistry between Kate and Devin.

I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. In this story we meet Devin Scott and we're reintroduced to Kate Callaway. These two are a natural fit, despite their initial misgivings about each other. The suspense of the investigation and the way they are able to bounce ideas off each other just adds reinforcement to the fact that they are meant to be together. Devin is just perfectly cut out to be an "honorary Callaway". Totally enjoyed this book and looking forward to the next in the series.

Great story - loved it from the very first page. Book can be read on it's own but so cool to catch up on the lives of other Callaway family members who we have come to know and love from the other books. Kate and Devin are strong characters and fun to watch them interact. Story line to find the arsonist was interesting and I can usually figure out who was the bad guy but this one surprised me. This is #10 in the Callaway series and it is a 10 in my book. Sit back and enjoy another great book by Barbara Freethy - you will not be sorry!!

This series has been one big roller coaster for me. Each book has made me love the Callaway's more and more. Tender is the Night, right from chapter one with Kate and Devin. They kept me interested from their stubbornness to solving one case, who killed his partner Samantha Parker? Who doesn't like a good mystery of who's the killer with a little romance thrown in. That's what Barbara did, she wrote another good book and again like all my past reviews read the Callaway series you wont be disappointed!

Sigh. Loved everything about this book. It had all the things I enjoy in a good book: Love, family, friends, history and an extremely well written who-dunnit. Devin is a gorgeous and masterful male lead with Kate a strong, brilliant, inspiring female lead. Their dynamic was snappy, sometimes amusing, and profoundly insightful. The glimpses into prior Callaway adventures means I am going to have to go back and read every single one of them. I'm a Callaway fan for life

Devin Scott is darkly magnetic. With just the right edge of suspense danger and romance, Tender is the Night is an obsession that is hard to put away. Kate finds herself drawn into a world full of puzzles, fire and wicked temptation in Barbara Freethy's latest novel. What I like most about the Callaway series is that there is no distinction between males and females within this family. Each member has a personality that adds character to this family of mavericks.
