I couldn't put this book down. I'm a huge fan of Andrews but I think this is quite possibly her best. It reads so smoothly, never dull, so you breeze through it. Can't wait to continue on in this series!

I just received this book today, and it was shipped very quick, thank you for that. But the book was described as being in "very good condition", it is not. The book is very used. I would describe it in acceptable or good condition not very good. This is a disappointment since it was a birthday present for my sister. I just wish it was described correctly then i would have bought a more better one.

This is a review on the audiobook of Heaven read by Donada Peters. More on her later.
Being 33, I sometimes want to take a walk down memory lane and read the books of my childhood and teenage years. In this case I wanted to take a trip up to the Willies, the mountains of West Virginia. Up Up Up the long dark trails, with the hoots of owls and barks of hunting dogs making echoes all around me. Until I reached a run down, grey cabin that held such dear memories to me.
Heaven is a story about a young girl of the same name, who lives in a cabin with her father and stepmother, grandparents, two sisters and two brothers. Throw in dogs, chickens, pigs, cows and cats and you can most definitely hear the banjos playing. But its more than a hillbilly coming of age story, its more about the search to find out exactly the meaning of family, and home, love and just how strong you a person you are after all the blows have landed. The Casteels are dirt poor. Down in the valley in the city of Winnerow, even the poorest there look down on them. They walk 8 miles to go to school and church, wear the same clothes day after day, sometimes ripping them apart and sewing them back together for a change.
They eat biscuits and lard gravy, sometimes hunting and fishing but mostly going hungry with so many mouths to feed. At the head is Luke, the raven haired devilishly handsome rogue, the only son not in jail and that's bragging. Luke spends little time at the family home, instead chooses to gamble and spend money at "shirleys place" which you can figure out means "where the hookers are"
Sarah is large redheaded mother, there are Lukes parents, Tom the older brother Keith the younger brother, Heaven is the oldest daughter followed by Fanny than Jane, who they quickly rename Our-Jane. Heaven learns from her grandmother that she isn't Sarah's, that Heavens mother Angel died in childbirth, and that she was extremely sweet and loving and beautiful and she did not belong in the mountains so the mountains took her frail life. All that was left is one suitcase, full of frilly things and one bride doll with flaxen blonde hair. Luke treats Heaven like she is less than a yard chicken, hates her because she killed his Angel.
I am not going to spoil this book, because its so worth reading. VC Andrews takes you into that cabin, into the poverty, makes you feel those hunger pangs. She gets you inside of Heavens head, so smart and strong that nothing life throws at her (and it hits the fan a-plenty) makes her stay down for long. I always thought that the characterizations in this series were VC Andrews best. The way she takes you from mountain, to valley to city and back, the way she writes the worst in humans and the best, and the way she tugs at your heart left me in tears.
I happened to get the audio version of this for work, read by Donada Peters. And I hated her voice. Heaven is a young girl as is most of the characters, a lot of them have some seriously thick hillbilly accents with their "Kerr" instead of "Care" and "Thar" instead of "there" and "Ah" instead of "I" Donada is way too old, and she has a bit of some kind of foreign accent of her own that makes her West Virginian sound like a Maine Yankee (think Jud Crandall played by Fred Gwynne in Pet Semetary) Throughout the audiobook I was cringing at her voice for Heaven, most of the time she made her sound like she was a chain smoking know it all bored with telling her thoughts. I would just recommend the book version if you are interested!

I first read this book about fifteen years ago when I was thirteen, and it is really a wonderful read. Despite the bad reputation popular fiction like this often gets, I think it was a feeling portrayal of the deep poverty that still plagues some areas of West Virginia, and the social discrimination suffered by those who experience it. And yes, of course, being a V.C. Andrews book there is a beautiful adolescent heroine who does not know her "real" identity. In this case, a girl whose rich Boston mother fled to the woods of West Virginia, married a Casteel (called hill-scum by the neighbors), only to die tragically giving birth to her (at the frighteningly young age of 14).
Heaven, the heroine of the book, lives with this shadow of her mother over her head. Her brothers and sisters have a different mother, and her father resents her, apparently because she "killed" her mother. However, she manages to find meaning in life through her love for school, her siblings and her kindly grandparents, despite the grinding and humiliating poverty she must face every day. Eventually, things get really crazy, and she is separated from her family and forced to live in an insane foster home with an evil redhaired foster mother (although I love V.C.'s books, I must mention that her anti-redhead discrimination is quite apparent in many of her books and I don't like it!)
It's a really fun and engrossing read and you'll love it, and it's oddly moving.
I still remember how much I cried when Heaven was separated from Our Jane and Keith. And you must read the sequel, unlike Flowers in the Attic the story really needs Dark Angel to be completed.

I believe I first read 'Heaven' when I was in my early teens. I've gone through at least five copies of the book since then, just from the wear and tear of reading it over and over again. I'm now 28, and I still enjoy re-reading this wonderful book. The second book, DarkAngel comes in as a close second as a favorite. The others in the series: 'Fallen Hearts', 'Gates of Paradise', and 'Web of Dreams' didn't quite cut the mustard. Although, I do admit to owning the entire series, only the first two are read over and over again.
I've read a lot of the books put out by the ghost writer. Most of them I dislike though. It's the same tired storylines told over and over again with just different names inserted. The characters are just carbon cut-outs who call their mothers 'Mommy' at the age of 15, have an evil sister or grandmother (Or both!), are cursed with insane beauty, usually have a fling with someone who they thought were their brother but aren't and then are killed off by book three to follow through with the legacy of the child. Some people call it a formula, and maybe it is, but the difference is those formulas only work if the storylines are different. I enjoyed 'Flowers in the attic' - I also greatly enjoyed 'Petals on the wind.' My point is, both the Casteel series and the Foxworth series were very very different books, and to date, the ghost writer's books are just poor immitations of her earlier series. There really is no comparison.
I highly recommend Heaven far and wide, and will continue to do so, for years to come.

I started reading V.C. Andrews' novels well over 15 years ago and after reading "Heaven" I was amazed. Andrews' novels always have a way of wanting you to read more that you somehow can't put the book down. Personally, "Heaven" and all the books in its series are my favorite. As in all of her novel series, you feel like you're the main character. Andrews paints the picture so well and describes the most miniscule things perfectly in her stories. A must read for any young adult!

When I was fourteen, I picked up this book at my high school library. Since then I've read every book by V.C. Andrews. Heaven is the best book written by her ever, and you should pick this book up asap.
Heaven Leigh Casteel is the oldest of five children that live in a shack in the mountains in West Virginia. Despised by her father, and made a slave by her mother, she is destined to be invisible. Then one cold night, her grandmother Casteel takes her out to the cemetary to show her the tombstone of a 14 year old girl named Angel. Her grandmother explains that this is Heaven's mother, a young girl who had fallen in love with Heaven's father, Luke when she was running away from her rich family in Boston. When Angel died, Luke turned into a monster and treated everyone with disdain. Now Heaven knew why her father wouldn't even look at her, much less show her affection.
When Heaven's stepmother becomes pregnant again and goes through a very difficult pregnancy and gives birth to a stillborn baby, without the support or presence of her husband, Sarah (the stepmother) just up and leaves all the children alone to fend for themselves. For months the children resorted to stealing to feed the two youngest frail children, Our Jane and Keith. During all this grief and responsiblity placed on 14 year old Heaven's shoulders, the only constant in her life is Logan, the only person in the world to ever love her for herself. But then one day their father shows up again to drop a bombshell on them: he's selling all of them to other families. For $500 a piece he first sells Our Jane and Keith. Then Fanny eagerly goes next. Then Tom, Heaven's closest sibling is sold off next, vowing that he would find a way to get them back together again. Suddenly all alone, Heaven is stuck with her evil father and a frail grandpa that done absolutely nothing while Luke sold all of his children. Finally Heaven's day arrived. But she had a choice of two differnt families. She picked the young looking couple with the striking titian haired beauty and the calm, sad looking man.
Never to see the Willies (that's the name of the mountain) again.
When she arrived at the home of Kitty and Cal Dennison, she realized that she made a big mistake choosing them. Kitty was obsessed with cleanliness...and Heaven's father, Luke. Facing years of physical and emotional abuse, Heaven turns to Cal for support and love. Only that support and love turns to an unnatural love of Heaven from Cal. Then Kitty gets sick and they decide to take her to her hometown...the valley where Heaven went to school. Elated that she could see Tom, Fanny, and Logan again, Heaven went in search of them. That's when she found out that Fanny didn't want to see her, Tom was a slave to his "adopted" father, and Logan was still in love with her. She also recieves a letter from her father apologizing and wanting all of his children to move in with him and his new wife. There is also a plane ticket to Boston, where Heaven's mother's family is at. He leaves the decision up to her, and she chooses Boston.
Such a great book!! I can't even begin to describe the pain, joy, and despair that makes this the best book ever written. To me it is better than Flowers in the Attic, with more suffering on the main characters part. Heaven keeps making the wrong decisions that leaves the reader pulling their hair out. When you read this book you feel the emotions of Heaven. Believe me when I say that this is a book (and a series) that you don't want to miss. RUN TO THE BOOKSTORE AND BUY IT NOW!

I must admit that Heaven was great. The heroine of the novel is one to be admired in this book, and the setting and characters were fantastic. The relationship between heaven and Pa were as compelling as they get. One thing though--the novels in which Ms.Andrews has written are not exactly great literature, meaning she wasn't born a writer but more of a story teller. The Ghostwriter's writing is more crisp, but not nearly as profound and deep(although I did love the Cutler series) Teenagers should definitly read this--it'll get them to question whether they really have it that rough. The rest of the Heaven series must be read, and Web of Dreams is one of my personal favorites. This should't be branded as a chick book or trash, because it is thought provoking. Buy it!

In this book, Heaven's grandmother tells her that her real mother was a runaway Boston girl named Leigh, but whom they called Angel. Heaven's life is going pretty good unitll her step-mother, Sarah, leaves after her fifth child is a sex-less still born. Heaven and her half-sibilings, Tom, Fanny, Keith and Our Jane are basically on their own after their grandmother dies. They still have their grandfather, but he's off in his own world where his wife is still alive and their pa who is gone for weeks at a time. Then Pa comes up with a money making scheme to sale his five children for 500 dollars a piece. What will Heaven do?

This book has a taste of fantasy becoming reality in Heaven's mind. She always dreamed of a place where she didn't take a bath once a week or she didn't have to sleep on the floor. This book is about Heaven's dreams coming true. From being the scum of the hill to a girl richer beyond her dreams.
When her father sold her family one by one her family is torn apart. Heaven with the exception of Tom is trying to put the family together again without the man who tore them apart. There Pa. Of course in this story you have a girl who can't seem to do anything but be lazy. Fanny. You have two helpless children finding there way into a dream. Keith and Our Jane, and the lifelong friend, Tom.
When Heaven is sold she soon learns her new family is wretched and evil beyond her dreams except Kitty's husband, Cal. Cal was the one who understood her, or thats what she thought.
In this story is betrayal, love, romance, and drama. All of what V.C Andrews does best in her novels of suspense and unexpected twists. This is definitly a book to read if you want to be at the blink of head aches for taking so many words in. If you don't think dreams can come true. I'd definitly read this book as a reminder that god works in mysterious ways.

this book tells the story of heaven and very poor existence in
the backwoods with her sisters and brothers. she is smart and
pretty but can't get past being poor and hungry all the time
because her lazy father is a poor provider. but she manages to
keep the family together and fed most of the time until one day
her father comes home with and evil plot that will ruin all of
her dreams and tear the family apart. while this book is not
as good as the flower in the attic series it is definitely worth
reading.

A first person pity party for a girl who was raised in the hills of West Virginia by her father, stepmother, and grandparents. She lives with her 4 brothers and sisters -- Tom, Fanny, Jane and Keith, whom she later learns are really her half brother and sisters, because they don't share the same mother. The romance with Logan is cute, but so pretentious. The time gaps in this book were a bit "blah", but were dealable. Excellent character development (which is characteristic of a V C Andrews novel), almost no plot (but many scattered sub-plots that were hard to follow) and a ton of self-pity. Heaven is likeable, but highly annoying near the end of the book. There is just something about a woman who is supposed to be strong willed be so fickle and weak minded. It also just doesn't conjure the emotion that Cathy did in the Dollanganger series, but it sure as hell is a lot better than all the crap that her ghost writer has written. A good read, overall.

Heaven had no control whatsoever what she was dealed to in the beginning. It was awful of Luke to sell his children off. Heaven really wanted to establish friendships as well as enjoy activities with girls her age. However it wasn't fair to her to have to go directly home on account of Kitty. Cal did worse to betray Heaven's trust by assaulting her. I was glad when she got reunited with Tom. Logan should not have left her in the rain when Heaven was trying to tell him what had happened to her at the house of Kitty and Cal.

I was first introduced to V.C. Andrews about 7 years ago when I was in 7th grade. Although I think that "Flowers In The Attic" was really Andrews' breakthrough, "Heaven" is a novel that is more suitable for pre-teens and teenagers.
The novel reads easily but this does not weaken the moving story. Heaven, the main character, is followed by the audience as she grows up and struggles the cruelties of life. Despite the fact that most readers will not find their own lives analogous to Heaven's, this book is still the perfect coming-of-age novel, emphasizing the importance of facing problems head on and being able to find goodness in dark places.

I thought that this book was a really good start to this series of books. it was intriguing, just the way it was supposed to be and the charactors were interesting and you felt sorry for the main charactor through everything she had to go through with what her father had done, selling her off as well her siblings. I found this book really interesting and somewhat different from V.C. Andrews other books. and sometimes different is good.

Hey!! I started reading this book because my language arts teacher requires us to read three hours a week, and I went to the library and checked out the entire Casteel series because I heard that V.C. Andrews was a good writer. I could not put the book down!! I read that book straight through for five hours because every time I told myself I needed to stop reading, something good would happen and I couldn't put it down.
Heaven was about a girl named Heaven and her life as being a "no good Casteel" in the Willies. I almost cried when Pa started selling all the kids! The way the author described it so vividly made it almost heartbreaking. And then when Heaven was sold and went to live with Kitty and Cal Dennison and the Kitty treated her was horrible!! Can you imagine being put in a scalding hot bath? I was shocked when Heaven had that affair with Cal Dennison-that was disgusting!! I'm not going to say the ending-you must read this book!! Go buy it now!!

Heaven Leigh Casteel was the prettiest smartest girl in the backwoods despite her ragged clothes and dirty face...despite a father meaner than ten vipers....despite her weary stepmother who worked her like a mule. For her brother Tom and the little ones, Heaven clung to her pride and her hopes. Someday they'd get away and show the world that they were decent, fine and talented--worthy of love and respect. Then Heaven's stepmother ran off and her wicked greedy father had a scheme that threatened to destroy the precious dream of Heaven and the cildren forever!!!! His father sold each kids off to break them up. Heaven got placed with Kitty & Cal Dennison who basically freed her. Except for the extensive work that Kitty left Heaven to do basically work her like a slave. The only one the really paid attention to her was Cal who treated her like gold. Until Kitty had a nervous breakdown or so they thought that's what it was but really she had a tumor in her breast. At the end of the book, her father was trying to find her to patch things up with her and also she was in the process of flying to Boston to look for her two youngest brother and sister.

I loved this book! I thought it was an excellent move from the whole "Flowers In The Attic" novels... It was great... It's about this family who are basically hillbillies, who are poor, and the story revolves around the daughter Heaven, who promises she'll find her dead mother's parents, and make a life she can be proud of... such tragedy ahead, tears, & Abuse... It's a wonderfully written story... I recommend it, definetly...

This book is about Heaven, a pretty, young girl, and her family, just trying to survive. They must deal with low food supply (when they have some), Our Jane's bad health, and their wicked father, who is hardly ever home--a dirty little shack in the Willies. All Heaven, and her five siblings, want is to run away to a good life. Their father has other plans for them.
I would recommend this book to everyone who can read. It was definitely the most moving book I've ever read.

This book was actually written by VC Andrews and not one of those lame ghost writers. This is not as good as Flowers in the Attic. I don't think she could ever have topped that if she wrote for a thousand years, but nonetheless it is interesting. Heaven is a strong character and she survives the death of loved ones, abandonment, poverty and lies. I think you will enjoy this book and the rest of the series.

Again, you get the fascinating portrait of the characters (unlike the V.C. Andrews' books today). I love the feeling you get with the descriptions of "The Willies" where Heaven lives. I loved the storyline and any fan of V.C. Andrews will not be disappointed with this book! I found this book, along with "Web of Dreams" to be the best in the Casteel Series.

Heaven is a touching story, that has you reading it until your vision blurs like many of V.C Andrews stories. A poverty stricken family full of terrible burdens and so much grief it seems never ending. Secrets nobody wants to remember. Living in a shack up in the hills, isolated from those better off, and having a last name -Casteel that would always taint their reputation. The only thing keeping them alive and with a little hope was each other, until their fathers desperation and greed took over, once their mother had left. He sold them, the ultimate nightmare of separation! The characters were sometimes bordering a little unrealistic in their actions, but it was still an enjoyable read, full of surprising twists and turns, making me want to continue with reading the rest of this series. I recommend this to people wanting to absorb themselves in a book that evolves into a great story.

Out of all the V.C. Andrew novel-series, I loved this one the best. Dawn went threw some terrible things in her lifetime, but in the end she found happiness and sucess. The only reason her half-sister and grandmother hated her was because they hated themselves. I read Darkest Hour before reading about Dawn and I was shocked. I couldn't believe that was the same Lillian Cutler. I gathered from Darkest Hour that Lillian, although going through hell coming up, that she ended up a kind woman. But I quess by the time Dawn met her she had suffered so much that her heart couldn't take anymore pain and she became spiteful. What we go through in life can either have a good impact on us to do better, or have a bad impact on us to make our hearts angry. And I suppose Lillian chose the negative road. Nonetheless, I loved the entire series and I plan on reading it again soon.

I am a big fan of the late V.C. Andrews and out of all her books this one is my favorite. I highly recommend Heaven and the Casteel Series to anyone who knows a book when they read it. The rest of the books in this series (4 others) are as enjoyable to read as "Heaven." If you haven't already read V.C. Andrews books, any of them, but especially the Casteel Series!

Loved this soapy book when I was younger - it doesn't quite hold up as an adult. It's pretty egregious in its depiction of rural poverty (clearly the author never heard of welfare, medicaid, etc). Her protagonists practically eat squirrels. The "hillbillies" lack morals and speak with something that is supposed to pass for southern dialect while the "superior" Heaven, Mrs. Deale, and Logan are chaste and have east-coast blood and perfect (if not pretentious) diction. Anywho, the story is soapy, the details are lurid, and the whole thing is perfect for a reader who is convinced she's a princess underneath it all and wants some titillation (in short, a teenager).

This book haunted me for many days. Its about the hard times of a young southern girl in the mountains and her family. This book will touch your heart. It is funny at times, heartbreaking and it makes you wonder how far into the despair of life we can go.This girl keeps her dignity through it all and have to raise her siblings most of the time.I'm sure deep in poverty stricten areas, like now and in the past, this story may touch on what may have occured in real life to some unforunate few.
The first night, I read this book all the way through. It grips your attention and its hard to put down. You just must find out what happens to this girls life next. Its indepth and put you in the heart of the mountains, her home, her family and her heart. A MUST read. Very touching. I loved this book. V.C Anderews best work. Next, Flowers in the attic.

Heaven is a great start to the Casteel series, which is my favorite V.C. Andrews story. Poor Heaven has a very poor upbringing and goes through much more than one person should, let alone a child. Her situation goes from bad to worse after her stepmother dies. I could blame it all on the dad, and I will, but he has his own set of tials and tribulations to deal with. I would highly recommend this book and series to all.

I simply do agree with V.C when she said that this was her boring novel. It is not as superb or as known as Flowers in the Attic, but it is a classic no less. Heaven is very original, and as most outgoing things go it has been copied truely now, up to sixteen or so years later. Heaven was the birther to that oh so popular and trademarked V.C gimik....you know the one, cinderella story, riches to rags, a beautiful girl put to shame by her family, trying to suceed in life..ect. ect. The biggest however is that it gives birth to the Weirdna or weird names era, of V.C book stars. Let's see there's Melody, Ruby, Dawn, Rain and maybe more...but Heaven being the first and by far the most independent ~in my opinion guys~ has been crowned Ruler of these book starlets. There are the little differences though, like for instence, the GRANDMOTHER IS NOT evil!!! not to mention a few ther little twists. All in all, it's not that bad but the sequels are what movies are made of, Like the Notorious Adultry Part in Fallen Hearts....so go on buy this book....come on you know you want to....even though you think you know exacly what is going to happen......

I am a huge V.C. Andrews fan and the Casteels are definitely my faves. This book is so hard to put down and you immediately get caught up in the story that you are so lost in it. I suggest you buy the complete series because after reading Heaven you will be dying to know what happens next. You immediately get into it so much you feel like you are living in their story and it is beautiful and dark and sad...amazing how many twists and turns come about. This books grabs a hold of you and doesn't let go....

The Casteel series is right up there with the Dollanganger series. It's another sordid, twisted story of lies, jealousy, incest, deceit, I could go on and on. I've read this series at least three times and I adore it.

Apparently this was one of the last books VC wrote before her death (she wrote the entire Dollanganger series, I think, and then the first two books in the Casteel series). My best friend and I bonded over these books in high school! Re-reading these in my adulthood is such a nice escapist activity . . . they are still hauntingly good. Highly recommend.

My mother forbid me to read any V.C. Andrews after the whole Flowers In the Attic epidemic. I was 12 or 13, snuck this home from the library under my winter coat (it was my very first of this author). Twelve years later, after reading anything and everything, I'm reading this book again for the ? time. Yeah, Heaven goes from from 16 to 17 to 16 to 17 every couple pages (anybody ever pick up on that?) but this is one hell of a story line, and the best of any of her series.
Read it, love it, you'll live with it forever.

each of the events that Heaven and her family go through is technically possible, just like Forrest Gump COULD have graduated from college based on his running ability - but it just isn't very probable, especially all of them happening to one girl! And Heaven still stays the same stupid, silly, pridefull girl through thick and thin: a hatefull father, a run away step mother, an abustive pair of adopting parents... And she doesn't understand people can change - especially her father. She just clings to old wrongs and hates, unable to forgive anyone or anything, because she had stayed immature and unchanged.

I think one of the best book I had red of VC Andrews "Heaven" is one of the best, well is one of the best book I had ever read. The Castel serie is very good. The characters in the book become real to the reader, is really a page turner. I remember reading for the first time this novel I was hook on VC Andrews series and mostly the Castel one. If you are a fan of VC Andrews and didn't read yet this serie you would find out this is one of the best if you didn't know about this serie well lucky you, you can read it and become a fan of this great writer who saddly is not here anymore! Heaven was one of my favorite book of this author!

I don't remember if I read this book first or V.C.'s previous boks but I did love this book as it hooked me in. I'm not a professional critic and only submitting this as my own opinion and interest.
The beginning was captivating as I read on more and more and felt i was there as an observer of this poor little girl going through these hardships and findng her own self of who she is and from. I also felt that I can relate to some of the situations IRL and understood her rollercoater emotions and her personal journey...
Ever since I read this I have followed V.C.'s other well and descriptive written books or series...
Now I have to go back to collecting the rest of her books.
Thank you

Heaven is part of a five book series by the author V.C. Andrews. This one is about the Casteel family. The main character is a girl named Heaven and the story is about her life. It tells how her West Virginia family is so poor and how hard thier lives are. Heaven is always looking to overcome this and prove to everyone that someday she will make it out of this town and have a better life. The story is so unbeliveable that people actually lived this way during the 1950-1960's. This book is for everyone who likes realistic fiction and can handle adult content.

I do have to admit "Heaven" was a pretty good book. However, it was not my favorite. The book is written with the characters speaking in a country accent and I do not like to read that particular type of literature. Yet, the content was very good and I was shocked when such a loving family actually sold their children. I admire the ambitions of Heaven, the main character in the book, and did enjoy the way the book ended. I thought it was very beneficial for Heaven to break through her bad family name. But, I enjoyed the New series of the Cutler family more. "Heaven" just had no comparison to "Dawn." I would not recommend this book to anyone who does not just simply love books written by V.C. Andrews.

I have never read such wonderful books before! V.C.Andrews is a great author! I think that Heaven was one of her best books. I love the content of all her books. I did a book report on one of them, and I couldn't stop talking about how wonderful the books are. Heaven shows the hardships in an abnormal life, without her really knowing what a normal life is. I felt like I was there throught the whole book, and he problems made me think about life. Heaven's problems were just so scary it made me think about mine. V.C. Andrews must be the best writer of all time! I have read 2/3 of her books, and most of them 3 times! I could never get tired of them, and the Casteel series is my favorite!

Heaven and all the other books in this series are incredible to read. The characters aren't the most forgiving people, (though they did love their siblings) but they have very good reasons and I believe under the circumstances I would probaly act much the same. It has a great storyline, great writting that really does put you in the picture and the characters are priceless. It really is a book worth reading.

I am a huge VC Andrews fan. I wish there was a collected works on Kindle, though it would be quite massive! I would also love to see a movie of the Casteel series. Each family saga creates a space and a twisted family that I feel part of. V.C. Andrews should get more credit for being one of the best writers ever.

This is such a strong emotionally charged book that you cannot put it down. Following the ups and downs of Heaven-Leigh`s life (more downs than ups)starting as a small child and through to her adulthood. It is a real rollacoaster and one I could not get off untill all books in the series where read. I was three months pregnant when I started to read these and it went so deep inside me that when I gave birth to a beutiful little 7lb 2oz girl I named her Heaven-Leigh. Unlike her name- sake she has grown to have a happy life and I have never regretted my choice of name, read it and you will understand too.....

I know I differ from other posters but I truly believe that VC Andrews went downhill after Flowers in the Attic. The idea that a parent would sell his own children is plausible as it definitely happens but it does not seem very believable in this book. Additionally, someone commented that there is no incest...yes there is. There is a brief moment when Heaven's father looks at her in a sexual way and her grandfather has to stop something horrible from happening- easy to miss but it is definitely there! Also if you follow the series she end up falling in love with her half-uncle! I admit that as a teenager I loved this book but rereading the VC Andrews books I found in my house recently, the only one I can recommend is Flowers in the Attic- the entire Heaven series as an adult seems contrived and amateurish.

I thought this book was touching and inspiring, it helped me see that my life isnt as bad as I make it to be, that there are people out there that have it worse than me but they make the best of it and so should I. But this book made me cry it was really sad and very twisted. I recommend this whole series because Ive read all of the books and they are FANTASTIC! This book will make you laugh, cry, and will make you feel better about yourself believe it or not! Read it and I promise you'll be satisfied.

I picked this book up and read it when I was 13. That was 17 years ago and I have probably read it 100 times since. This is the best book by V.C. Andrews by far, although I love most of her books. You can't help but feel a connection with Heaven and feel your heart break at all of the torment she goes through. I would recommend this book and almost any other book by V.C. Andrews, especially the ones she actually wrote herself. This is a book that I always go back to when I just want to get lost in a story and it probably will be forever!

The Casteel saga was my favorite out of all the novels that V.C. Andrews wrote. Everything that Heaven did was something that I understood, but it hurt me so much when she couldn't forgive Luke. He wasn't the best father, but selling her to the horrible Kitty was one of the best choices he've made. She suffered there, but at least she didn't have to worry about starving. Her romance with Logan was the sweetest, and when Cal started taking advantage of her I was ready to pounce. Grr! This is a great book though. V.C. Andrews wrote this book herself, and if you enjoy her original works you will love this.

Having read all the Andrews series, I feel that the Casteel series is the best. The content was great and each book got more interesting, instead of dragging on and on. The twists and turns were mind-boggling yet intriging. It was very easy to feel sorry for Heaven. She started out weak, however, became hardened as the series came along, allowing you to envy her strength at the end. I loved this series also because you can relate to the feelings Heaven has in the books.

I absolutely adore this BOOK--as in the paperback I had years ago. The kindle version was poorly transferred, and included 20+ errors. Being a stickler for grammar, punctuation, and spelling, this flaw became extremely distracting from the awesomeness that is Heaven.

I highly recommend this book to any one who has ever felt out of place. I read this book in 8th grade and I am now a sophomore in college. It is amazing how much from this book I still carry with me. Heaven Leigh was not the richest or prettiest of girls, but some one managed to see through that and find her beauty with in. This book is highly recommended. So is the rest of the series by V.C. Andrews.

This is a wonderful, yet sad book. filled with abuse, sex, and death. When the step-mother leaves them, Heaven and her siblings are left alone with their evil father. Then when the father starts to sell them all to different homes, you really feel their pain. But this will not stop Heaven and Tom from being together again with Keith, Our Jane, and even Fanny.

Great book. Worth to write. A heartbreaking story about a young girl named Heaven. Not many girls in this world named Heaven, and not many have fate like hers.

This book is horrendous. The writing is bad (overuse of exclamation points throughout)and the plot line is very unbelievable. I think I read the Flowers in the Attic series a few years back and also thought that the farther I got into it, the worse it became. But Heaven is just altogether wretched. So, why did I read it all the way through? Once I commit to a book, I'll read it through the end. I was committed to this before I realized it. Anyway, don't waste your time.
