Great read! Awesome characters and interesting settings. Kind of like a mix between hunger games and divergent with a semi zombie twist. Doesn't matter the age range. If you like reading in general it's a good time passer

A good glimpse into one dystopian future. This is a story of friendship but, of course, much more.
Believable characters and sense of place, though it was left with a mystery and promises of further adventure.
Well written and worth a look.

Engaging read! Straightforward writing kept me reading! I enjoyed this futuristic post apocalyptic story because the two boys are all of us. We either are or know both main characters which makes it both believable and engaging! Bravo!

this was a fairly short book. it took me mAybe an houjr and a half to read. It features two near opposite teenage boys, Lefty and Zero, who got thier nicknames from seperate incidents, yet the nicknames of all the other charachters were omitted. Also, what hulking eighteen-year-old boy hides behind bookshelves? the reactions and demeanor of the adults was quite unrealistic, the severity of situations semming to be ignored in favor of annoyance from authority. the Remnants were mysteriously similar to James Dashner's "cranks" but were only interested ine one at a time, please. no matter how mAny there were. the entire climax was a mere skirmish on the road that contained hardly a drop of adrenaline. the boys were picked up almost immediately by a civilized person after a ridiculousely easy confrontation. i was expecting a T H R I L L from a post-apocolyptic survival in a forest wasteland filled withe confrontations and wild creatures. instead i got a short story that thought it could be a book. every conflict was murdered almost the instant it started and even so was muted.
Redemption, however, comes in the spontaneous actions. We have all wondered things like "what would happen if I started singong in the middle of Finals?" or, "what would happen if i threw a punch at a random stranger?" Cumulus is a stupid old fart that thinks it stinks more than all the rest. he dumps the boys in the wilderness like a mom might send a child to bhis or her room. "i gave you fair warning. now GO." and when thy return he gives little protest.
Overall, it seems like the author put some effort into the fear element--sometimes. And conflict is more cringy to them than black spit. On the other hand, if you think inconsistency is bearable, its a good quick read if your bored and want WORDS. i wont be reading the next books, but thats mostly cuz im broke. i DO reccomend this lightly though.

I just finished reading this book and cannot wait to read the next in the series! Following Lefty and Zero on their adventures was interesting and hilarious at the same time. The pace was good, the writing was great, the storyline is well developed, as well are the characters. I love the premise that the story seems to be following, as it is a series, I'm sure the remaining books will continue to explain and fill out out. I would definitely recommend this book to my fellow readers.

With this book you really don't know what's going to happen next. It was fast paced from beginning till the end. There is humor as well as a sort of unlikely hero. Well written as well as excellently executed

Testing zero captures the fear of the human condition and pairs it with the zeal of youth in an exciting fight for survival in an unforgiving altered world! Will Flea get his his just deserts of will the vile rise to the top, I hope not!!! What is the truth of the horrid remnants, altered humans, hunting us, shall we overcome??? I MUST know what becomes of best & only friends Zero and Lefty sticking together while their lives depend on their choices no matter the cost - hooked here on both character and story, KUDOS N.G. SIMON, YOU HAVE CREATED A NEW READER & FAN, THANKFUL THERE'S A SERIES AHEAD TO DEVOUR!!!!!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. N G Simsion did a great job of describing the characters and bringing the readers into the story with his descriptions. This is the first book I have read by this author but I will be watching for his work in the future. I found Testing Zero to be realistically written and exciting to read. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I would recommend this to anyone, teens and adults, that enjoy dystopian series.

There's more to Zero than meets the eye, I can feel it. He's quiet and reserved, too quiet. We got a small glimpse of who he is but I need to know more. Smart and agile, a friend to Lefty no matter the scheme. I can't wit to read more, I can't wait to learn more about Zero, and what he's capable of.

Good definition of main characters Lefty & Zero. Reminded me of Blade Runner & Divergent. Short story length but does hold interest of reader well and has logical break point to next book. Would recommend this as well worth reading. Glad to see a story told with out vulgarity, holds your interest from start to finish.

This book is a zombie book without the zombies .the zombies are out on the fringe hundreds of years after the infection but still going with clothes still and always living. The characters are funny and take you to new heights of what are they thinking

Ichose this rating for how this book takes off from the start with believable characters doing all they can against all odds to make their way in a world that is against them from the start. I cant say there was anything I didn't like.

This is a very, very simple book. It's written in a simplistic style.
Conversations between the two lead characters are dull and lack imagination.
Situations are ridiculous. Even from the first few chapters...how big or small is the crocodile? First its tail can whack them to the ground then one boy is able to carry it and fit it into a school desk!
Zombies get onto an undefended bus (why no guards for these new members of society?) They take just one person and leave?
Nothing is developed in this book. Characters run around but achieved nothing.
And cage fighting? Really?
Don't waste your time.
