Love love love this book, it's been a revelation. I've binned the ineffective to-do list in favour of the MIT and now I'm scheduling everything that matters. This book gave me a major wake up call and Kevin Kruse, I owe you !! Determined not to waste any more of the 1440, and inspired by 'in their own words' I have a new lease of life! Love the way the author relates this to all walks of life, CEO to SAHM and all in between. Great book, such great value.

Kevin's book has made even more aware of the importance of time in my own live and the live of my coachees. What I like about the book is his focus on both: time AND energy management: it is about time, energy and how to focus both in the best (personal) way to make the impact you want to make. One of my key take-aways from his book is to know my most important task (MIT), (again) not to start up my day with my inbox, using the morning hours to get important stuff done because than chances are lower that urgencies come in between, without interruptions, so turning off all email and social media pop-ups and how to keep glucose levels of the prefrontal cortex steady throughout the day. He uses lots of inspirational quotes from famous highly productive people he interviewed and quotes quite some research on how we usually deal with time. E.g. that the likelyhood of getting personal goals done increases if we schedule them in our agenda ("time boxing"). I recognize a lot of the stuff he wrote in his book in my own practice...absolutely inspiring & useful reminders to be purposeful with my time

Although successful, I have struggled to manage my time effectively throughout my life - and have been far more stressed and far less productive than I know I could be. I've read many books and tried many different strategies to better manage my time but I've simply never gotten it right. Kevin has. His book has truly been a game changer for me and I wish that it had been available 30 years ago when I was still in high school! Anyone looking to manage their time in a way that allows them to focus on what is truly important should read this book. By the way, it would make a great Christmas present!

Not only is this book well thought out and written wonderfully, it is practical as well. I found many useful suggestions that have made my day more manageable and a whole lot less chaotic! I recommend this book for everybody, whether you are working outside the house or not. This is also a book that I will be recommending to my Executive Coaching clients from here on out! Great job Kevin Kruse, thank you!

This is the best time management book. Ever. Hands down.

This isn't up for argument.

I CANNOT believe how much effort Kevin put into the creation of this excellent book. Every page bleeds with professionalism.

This book is EXCEPTIONALLY well written. This is an author that knows how words work, and how to put them together in ways that amaze me.The writing is crisp and clear and FUN to read. As a fellow nonfiction author, I envy Kevin. He truly is an amazing author. Maybe someday I'll catch up. :)

But the writing style is just the tip of the iceberg.

The real "meat and potatoes" of this book is the 15 time management secrets.

I don't want to spoil anything for you, but the advice in this book is genuine, and it really does work. Seriously.

Read this book, and be amazed.

What else is there to say?

So many secrets and tips in this gem of a book... I love the tip of using a calendar instead of a to-do list. I love the 1440 concept. Kevin also gives specific ways different types of people might use the concepts.
Well thought out, well expressed and easy to follow. A real inspiration for those who want to make the most of their time.

I love how easy this book is to read. Just flip to a page and start gleaning short, simple, helpful strategies to manage your most important resource--time. As a full-time writer, I really appreciated the advice specifically directed toward people who have to pump out the words every single day. This book isn't just one system you have to learn to follow step-by-step. It's a smorgasbord of systems you can pick and choose from. Everyone is different. But there are strategies in here for every personality type, every life situation, and every conceivable excuse for not being productive. Just pick the ones that work for you.

Easy read with a lot of great information. Some of the tips have been around for a while, and some are a completely new way of looking at things and managing your time each day. No matter who you are or where you are on your career ladder he's got some great tips to get the most from the 1440 minutes you get each day. I love that the chapters are easily consumed and immediately applicable. This isn't a book with a lot of theory...but rather a practical guide to getting more from your day.

I must say this is a very unique book on time management since the book is filled with so many useful best practices from many successful leaders. It is also a great book that is designed for the modern time especially for the Age of Internet and Digital Revolution. I will strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to become more productive and live a fuller life.

I absolutely hate reinventing the wheel. That’s the reason that I do book summaries – I’m able to capture the key points that the author makes and then revisit them on a regular basis. Kevin Kruse must subscribe to the same principle as he has taken the input from 7 billionaires, 13 Olympic athletes, 29 straight A students, and 239 successful entrepreneurs and distilled down their lessons learned regarding time management. The book is a quick and easy read. More than that, the “secrets” that they reveal are easy to implement, and highly effective.

ACTIONABLE. That's the word that comes to mind about this book. By the time you read the chapter and get to each success secret, you have been presented with the author's experience and how it aligns with the experiences of a variety of high achievers. It's all presented concisely and you can't help but want to take action on it. Great stuff. Also appreciated Kevin's sense of humor, I actually got more out of that than the celebrity quotes. Good balance and supporting structure overall though.

This book was recommended by a mentor. Great addition to my library. I will probably purchase a hard copy so that I can mark up the pages with my notes. It's hard to "take notes" while I'm listening to the book.

When given the opportunity to preview Kevin Kruse’s new book on productivity, I jumped in immediately. I had already read many articles by Kevin and I was excited to study his insights on maximizing productivity.
As a fighter pilot, I have focused on achieving my full potential and helping others to achieve theirs. This book is an outstanding resource because of the multiple approaches to improving productivity so there is something for everyone to apply to their life to improve their effectiveness.
The additional resources available are a bonus to provide icing on the cake. I highly recommend “15 Secrets Successful People Know About Time Management” to anyone who want to improve their life productivity and achieve their full potential!

I great book full of actionable tips, examples, and - my personal favorite - stories. It's very easy to read.
The best books...for me... are full of hand-written notes of lessons and ideas. This book is filled up with a bunch of mine. Some I started executing on today.
Pick it up - it's worth your time.

I tried to finish this book, but decided to manage my time better instead. Please do not give Keven Kruse your money because he makes the point several times in the book that that's why he wrote it. I rarely reject a book or its author this way, but this one was over the top. I have no idea why it has so many positive reviews.

Love, love. love this book. Kevin does a brilliant job of breaking down time management into easily implementable tactics. Between work, PTA, kid sports, school events and trying to find time for family and myself, I was in real need of something to help me manage my projects and efforts. Most of my days this year were chasing deadlines, missing opportunities and overwhelmed with my many hats - this book came at just the right time and helped me gain perspective on the value of every single minute. Thanks Kevin for helping me enjoy every "1440" of my days again!

This book is a MUST read for anybody/everybody who is currently inundated with to do lists that never end.

Kevin has conducted significant research with many highly successful people to arrive at many best practices that are logical and work. I've personally already implemented some of the findings relative to using my calendar to get things done. I've also begun to clear my mornings so I can use my cognitive abilities at their highest, most focused, point. I now have more time, I'm more productive and I'm even exercising on a regular basis. I'm sharing Kevin's book and it's lessons, with my family and friends. Thanks Kevin !

Only half way through and already I am starting (and finishing) each day with significantly more focus than before. It's filled with practical tips as well as some great concepts that have helped me clarify what needs to be done and how to focus on the important stuff. I highly recommend this to anyone needing to de-clutter their daily ToDo list (get rid of it all together! Go Outlook Calendar instead!) and learn how to protect your precious time. After all, it's the one precious resource that we can't get back once it's gone!

This is one of the few "self help" books that you can immediately put into practice the day you start reading it. Just the tip about putting my to do list on my calendar has changed my life. It used to be so difficult for me to understand how long it took to complete tasks. Now with my to do list on the calendar, I have a full understanding for how I'm using those precious minutes so that I don't continue to over-commit. I got the Kindle version and it was only five bucks! A tremendous value... Thanks, Kevin!

...but I'm glad I did as I learned some useful tips that have already helped me be more effective.

Unlike many time management books, which are often heavy on dry theory, this one is chock-o-block full of practical processes, strategies, habits, and mindsets used by the top performers in various fields of endeavor. I found it a more interesting read because it allows insight into the minds of billionaires, Olympians, and other top 1% performers. In their own words they describe what works for them.

Kevin Kruse has done it again. After reading his books on Engagement I was convinced he is an author of fresh views who is capable of challenging dominant opinions and belives thus reinventing something that seems can not be reinvented in the first place. Time management is great example as vast majority of us probably believe we know everything we need to know about the subject for quite some time now. Well reading the book proved me wrong and at the age of 55 this is not a statement that comes easy nor has anything to do with a fact I was privileged enough to read e copy of the book prior to the official release. Great effort and looking forward to is future work. Bojan Brank

Kevin Kruse book is so good I suggest taking notes and implementing the most important ideas immediately. His writing style is motivating and makes you want to make a difference in your life. Some key points I am right now are: 1) Designing my ideal week with time blocks, and 2) chunking my emails into 3 groupings with a 21 minute time limit. If you apply just one suggestion to your life, it will be worth the price of the book.

1440! I will never look at another day the same way again. Kevin Kruse has written an accessible book that offers some good and pragmatic habits and approaches to maximizing our productivity. I found that some of his advice really resonated including understanding that there are only so many minutes in a day (1440), prioritizing your Most Important Task and throwing away the To Do List. I was familiar with the approach of blocking priority work in your calendar as this is also taught through the FranklinCovey training. It was gratifying that I already do some of the approaches that Kevin recommends - and many of the approaches can be implemented immediately. Recommend this to any leader who is struggling with getting their priority work done.

Kevin Kruse's latest book helped me: set my priorities; achieve more in the same amount of time; give me the confidence to say "no" to productivity sucks; feel good about delegating simple things that I could easily do myself but keep me from doing more important things; heal my marriage; get my shirts whiter; add 10 pounds of muscle; and cure my halitosis.

Seriously, this book is chock full of good tips, and easily digestible in chunks over time. Other reviewers have covered the content pretty well. What I can add is that if you implement those tips that are consistent with your authentic self, you'll see improvement. You don't need to do it all, certainly not at first.

This is a concise distillation of effective time management techniques, but what distinguishes this book is the expert anecdotes. Knowing how very successful people use these techniques adds a bit more weight to them. For example, I've always thought about scheduling major tasks in my calendar, but thought it looked bad when colleagues couldn't book my time. Well, I guess that's why I'm a middle manager and not a CEO! It's nice to know that many successful people have used these techniques effectively. Anyone who doesn't buy this for 99 cents on the Kindle is nuts!

Know Your Numbers? Here's Another One to Know: 1440. As a healthcare provider and wellness leader, I'm always interested in business books that have practical application for helping employees and other clients become healthier. For years, I have worked in wellness programs where we help our employees to "know their numbers" but rarely talk about time management under the wellness umbrella. In his new book, Kevin has added one more number to the list: 1440. It's the number of minutes we have each day. In the book, he suggests analyzing how we are using our time so that we will know when we are most productive, and when we are not at our peak. Then, adding in breaks, which helps with getting more activity, perhaps drinking more water and increasing mindfulness (all related wellness goals). Let's say we were to add this type of number/analysis to our health screenings. I wonder what other insights we could find. Kevin conducted a number of in-depth interviews with successful people for the book, and many made mention of their energy levels, taking breaks and sleep - all health promotion concepts that align with health and wellness program topics. Throughout the book, I saw many synergies between health/wellness, his time management strategies and stress management - even mindfulness (which Kevin referred to as being "in the moment" on various occasions). I think this is a great addition to the reading list for anyone working in the allied health professions, including Certified Personal Trainers and Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, as well as wellness professionals. Any HR/organization training and development staff would also find the nuggets in the book good for managers, under-performers and employees with potential that seem to procrastinate. Kevin goes into detail about what procrastination really is, which is not being lazy, and how to help them overcome these challenges so they can reach their potential. This book is an easy read and compliment to the business knowledge base that will help us move away from "to do" lists that never get done to active calendar items that help us achieve our goals and reduce the stress associated with setting goals that simply don't get achieved.

This book is pretty much what the title says. The author did all the leg work for us and interviewed those that are successful and got down to how they manage time. To much repetitive information. Very few helpful incites. Most of the book was full of advise from other people that apparently the author reached out to for comment. I found this to be very boring and repetive. This book could have been written as a short pamphlet without all the fluff.

The most valuable asset anyone has is... time. Money and things come and go - but you can never get any more time. So, it is imperative that we not waste it, but use it wisely. I have heard so many people say, "I just don't have time to..." EVERY person has exactly 1440 minutes in each day. Your choice is what you do with those minutes. That's called managing your time - time management.

I am a pastor. Caring for people, ministering to them, encouraging them, helping them with their life, and their eternity - well, that's not just my job, it's my calling, my reason for being. With that in mind, I want to use every minute I have been given in the best way possible. That doesn't mean being a "workaholic." In fact, doing so would be counter-productive.

In "15 Secrets Successful People Know About Time," Kevin Kruse shares tremendous principles for effectively managing your time. I recommend his book to anyone who desires to be the best they can be at whatever they are called to do.

Kevin Kruse reminds us that we only have a limited amount of time in our lives. Once it's gone, it is gone.

We can't earn more of it. We can't get it back. We have lost it.

In 15 Secrets, Kevin does more than share this little "secret," he gives us applicable steps to get back into the game and reclaim the time that we casually throw away.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book in return for my honest review.

The tips from billionaires and other notably successful people are especially interesting and thought provoking. The support tools offered by Kruse are a nice bonus. A book certainly worth your investment of your precious time.

Once again Kevin Kruse has hit the nail on the head. And this book applies to me even more than his employee engagement books. This piece of advice is most critical for me: "Once you start something, once you agree that imperfect is OK, you’ll feel a stronger motivation to finish it up." You simply can't be a perfectionist. If you are, you'll never leave the house. Great lesson.

Read Kevin Kruse' book to learn the productivity tricks used by those who have found success in their field and how to apply it to your life. I appreciate that he describes how to apply these "secrets" if you're an entrepreneur, executive, freelancer, student or stay-at-home parent. I am already thinking about how to apply these lessons and how to analyze my activities and commitments to improve my time management.

Kevin does his homework--he searches first-hand, real-world stories of successful business practices and then makes them readily available for those of us who are ready for a change! I like knowing the pattern can be successfully applied in so many different business scenarios!

“A masterful work full of practical advice on how we expect leaders to face the great challenges and problems of our "time." In an engaging fashion, Kevin Kruse presents a clear road map for leaders to leverage the one thing they control... how they spend their time.

My top takeaways as I've read through the book (on page 127) are to treat time as the most valuable asset, move from creating lists to blocking off time on my calendar, and to start taking around a small journal to keep notes. I'm also running Unroll.me on my email as Kevin reminded me of how distracting emails can be. The book reads quickly and has great stories and insights... Look forward to finishing it!

I was skeptical. We are all stretched too thin and need more hours in the day. That's just the reality of being human, right? Maybe so, but this book will help you increase productivity and focus on what matters. I tried one of the secrets immediately and it's radically changed my schedule. I'm getting more done and leaving work on time.

I will be brief. It is a great book. I did enjoy it, you will learn something and it will change your life. In fact I intent to read it on a annual basis.
However....
Kevin's not so subtle selling is getting to me and almost want to make me give it a 2star. It is everywhere, just read these reviews on the store? they are just to well written to originate from casual users.
If I pay for something I don't want to be the after market sale as well.
But it really is a great book.

Everyone will find tips and techniques to help them find more time in the day. Awesome book. I have a love-hate relationship with books of this type. I have to read them then when I finish, I inevitably say, "Eh, good idea but this could have been a white paper. Not enough material for a whole book." This one, however is worth the investment.

It's not rocket science yet this book has some good pearls and reminders to effective time management. I love the MIT of the day, it actually works for me, as well as scheduling vs. to do lists. This is a good quick read with insights from new people.

The book can be summarized in one sentence - replace your todo list with a calendar, scheduling time for any task that takes more than 5 minutes.

The rest of the book was just filler. For example, the last few chapters are just quotes with nothing else.

There are some useful tidbits for those who have not read books similar to these before. However, as others have mentioned, it feels like he copied and pasted his chunks of information simply in order to show that he interviewed a successful person, which lead to a lot of filler. Another thing that put me off was how often he "tooted his own horn", albeit it showed how "successful" his advice can make you. Overall, not bad, if you can get over a few of these minor annoyances.

Loved this book - actionable, well written and concise. I also loved Kevin's method of reaching out to entrepreneurs, athletes and billionaires for their input. Personally, even though I was already applying several of these methods, it's already made a difference in how I structure my day, and my focus and performance.

Time is a resource that everybody struggles to manage. Kevin Kruse's new book,15 Secrets Successful People Know About Time Management, provides a set of tools that he has extracted from interviews with highly successful entrepreneurs, academics, and students. The 15 secrets include recognizing that there are only 1,440 minutes a day (be careful of those that ask you if you have a minute), identifying and focusing on your single most important task, and abandoning your to-do lists for a calendar. None of these or the other 12 secrets are easy to adopt if you are not already practicing the time management techniques. While these techniques are not easy, you can unlearn less effective techniques based on purported common knowledge. I have already been able to adopt a number of the practices much to the chagrin of colleagues that don't want an agenda that begins with the highest value item rather than something easy.

The book lays out the 15 secrets and then shares outtakes from Kevin's conversations with students, entrepreneurs and academics. Frankly, I got little for the excerpts from the interviews with the academics and wish there were fewer. I got the most from the students (this section, I felt, ran a bit long also, but when I looked at what I highlighted I recognized that I was probably wrong).

Overall, I believe that reading this book has been extremely useful to me even though I am old hand at time management. Regardless of whether you think you are a time management pro or are just starting to deal with trying to manage your own time, 15 Secrets Successful People Know About Time Management will be a valuable tool for helping you to manage your time successfully.

I've been focusing on improving my time management skills and I was happy to get the chance to read Kevin's newest book. I was provided a copy in order to review, but it does not bias my opinions.

I've been reading The 15 Secrets over my lunch breaks for the last week. The two things I enjoyed the most about it are:

1. It is written in an easy to read style.
2. The tips are things I can put into practice as soon as I read them

My favorite tip was: Don’t Touch! (Until You’re Ready). I have a tendency to attack things that come into email or regular mailbox whether or not they are really a high priority. This tip is already helping me to be more productive.

The book also includes free access to Kevin's website.

I thoroughly enjoyed 15 SECRETS by Kevin Kruse. As someone who teaches "time maximization" strategies to professionals, I was delighted to learn several new strategies I could employ and share. Mr. Kruse writes in a conversational, easy-to-read style. Just like in his other book and blog, I find his style informative, unique and most of all, useful. If you want to know how to make the most of your #1440, this is the book for you!
