I bought this for an eight year old. He was very pleased with all of the information and especially the poster. He immediately wanted the poster on his wall and sat and read quietly for quite a while.

My 7-year-old son enjoys this book Jurassic World Dinosaur Filed Guide. He compares what is seen on the screen to pictures that are in the book. In addition, It comes with a nice poster to hang on the wall.

His 3rd grade teacher, told his Mom, that she can not possibly research every detail he includes on his paperwork about dinosaurs. When it comes to dino knowledge he's reading beyond 6th grade level & this book he found interesting. Even if you're not looking for intense details this book has interesting facts that readers will find interesting.

I was worried about buying this book because paperback & my boys usually don't mix well. This book is well made, has slick shiny paper material pages & holds up well to 2 little dinosaur loving boys!! Worth $8 definitely!!

They lied. They just put the jurassic world to fool you. I expected a book full of dinosaurs from every jurassic park movie. What I got was up to date dinosaurs that look nothing like they do in the movies. They constently bash on the jurassic films saying stuff like "raptors have feathers" and some shit like that. Any real jurassic park book would never say that. I can't believe I was tricked by science. Don't get me wrong I know that dinosaurs have feathers, but if I wanted to know all about real dinosaurs then I would have gotten a book that wanted to focus on feathered dinosaurs but this is a jurassic world/park book and I came to see featherless raptors, or a dilophosaurus with a frill but this is straight up lieing to me. But to remind people this is a jurassic worl/park book they put these random images from jurassic world. For example when you look at the brachiosaurus page you find a picture of and apatosaurus from the movie. What makes even more dumd is that they have an apatosaurus page and the picture is not there just an ugly ilustration.

Wow what a nice book. I wouldn't say it's directly for fans of the film but more for dinosaur junkies.
There's not one picture from the film in the whole book, but it does have many bright colourful pages filled with dinosaurs, as well as info on how fossils are found, processed and classified etc.
Would suit an older child who has an enthusiasm to learn more about dinosaurs beyond basic childrens books... or adults who just appreciate the well-layed out style and information.

Rushed to print to capitalize on the Jurassic World buzz. Written for a younger age group but even that age level will find the illustrations tacky. The art is this book just is awful. Thomas Holtz Jr., who also authored the fabulous "Dinosaurs" (Dinosaurs: The Most Complete, Up-to-Date Encyclopedia for Dinosaur Lovers of All Ages) with illustration by the wonderful Luis Rey, must be cursing the fact he put his name on this piece of garbage illustration. Nothing wrong with the text here other than the awful font, but we've moved past these illustrations from the sixties. Hideous. If this WAS a field guide, you couldn't indentify the dinosaurs. Strangely, the book contains photos of the actual dinosaurs models used in Jurassic World randomly dropped in whereever they could put them. Those photos look so much better than the dinosaur drawings of said dinosaurs that you actually stop and gape in horror.

I bought this because I really loved the 2001 original. This new edition does a good job of updating the material. Overall it's got a great balance of science facts and punchy dinosaur drawings that make it great for any kid with the same obsession I had with these ancient beasts.

I have a few nit-picks though. Many of the updated drawings were just the old pieces with a thin layer of feathers added. I really wish that they'd drawn all new, even more feathery versions. Also, some of the trivia bits about the old movies were replaced with simple advertisement for Jurassic World. I really don't get what they were thinking there... At least give the same level of trivia, not just an advert. But none of that really detracts from the main product. A great book for any kid that loves dinosaurs.

This is my 8yo son's favorite book. It's full of details and illustrations, including a poster with all of the dinosaurs in the book on it, with their names. Just a fantastic book. He read it for hours and hours over the summer and keeps finding new and interesting facts to share with us.

This book is nice for the way the descriptions are supplemented with quick "Fun Facts" about the dinosaurs. The art in this edition is very good —sharply defined with anatomical details that speak to the scientific reconstruction of the animals, not just dramatizations. You can find more and even better examples of this paleo artist's work in the excellent and much larger title "Discovering Dinosaurs".

I really enjoy this book because it combines Jurassic World with actual dinosaur knowledge. The illustrator for the dinosaur is Robert Walters, and I met him in person. He signed a copy of his book, Discovering Dinosaurs, and he drew a Ceratosaurus head in it as well for me. Overall, if you want to know more about actual dinosaur knowledge, then you should get this book.
