Having read all her Dark Hunter series, I most enjoy the sarcastic wit she gives her characters. The research she has done into various mythologies is impressive. I would, however, would have liked a glossary of sorts in the back of the book that readers can reference when we need to refresh our memories of a particular character or mythological occurrence . It's distracting to have to stop and look up something that was explained in a past book.

I know this review is probably not going to help you one way or the other the only thing I want to say is that I have read every Dark Hunter book that she has ever written several times over and have never been disappointed if you haven't read any of her series please start at the beginning as her characters reappear in most every book and you get to know them better and the new ones that are introduced and you will fall in love with most every character out there

not her usual..I found the heroine, if you can call her that, an incredibly cruel and selfish witch. he kept forgiving her and that was just sick. he appeared weak. just didn't click for me. the dragonets and the bears were the best part. overall, just boring.
A Dark-Hunter Novel (Dark-Hunter Novels) - Bad Moon Rising :: Dance with the Devil (Dark-Hunter, Book 4) :: Night Embrace (Dark-Hunter, Book 3) :: Dream Chaser (A Dream-Hunter Novel, Book 3) :: Born of Fire (The League, Book 2)

Great story! A story line I had wondered about is answered. Dark-hunter and were-hunter fans will be pleased. Also, a great set-up for a new story arc. Kenyon is a master story teller, whose amazes with how her characters lives are tired together. There is not a book she has published that I don't have! I never miss a new Sherrilyn Kenyon novel.

Loved, loved, loved this book!!! Another awesome dark hunters tale. Marx's story was just excellent. And Fang just hysterical.... love the world Sherrilyn creates. My only issue is that the book ended I wanted it to go on more. The cliffhanger at the end ... can't wait till the next installment.

The mist quiet, handsome, aloof character with secrets at Sanctuary has always been Maxis. In this novel we find out why, and get so much more in the bargain! I loved every page, and am now sad we have to wait for more!!!! Very well worth reading!!!

Is it worth over $14 for the Kindle version? Only if you really can't wait to read about the Dragon in the attic of Sanctuary. That's why I didn't wait. Although it was well written, good fast paced, not too preachy and the characters were somewhat interesting, the story was familiar. My recommendation is to wait for the Kindle price to lower if you can. Eventually in the story all the characters from the different Pantheons make an appearance and it was nice to have Savitar back again for a few pages. Someone not familiar with the Were-hunters and Dark-hunters series can easily get confused with who's who. After this one, the only other book in this series that I would buy in this price range would be Savitar's book.

I love all of her books but this one brought back a lot of the characters I've grown to love and gave humorous updates in their lives. All my favorite characters in one book I like the way that they joke back and forth and tease each other. I think I went through every emotion while reading this book from laughing out loud to crying. Highly recommended

Always something new with each book. I love how she ties knew characters in with almost all the originals. This book has everything from action, love, betrayal and of course unending loyalty and friendship. The next book should be very interesting if she continues with dragons! I absolutely love this series and it's one of few series that I reread numerous times. I love how she incorporates history with the romance and science fiction. Her ideas of how things could have gone for Atlantis and how it ties in with different pantheons is awesome! This series is a must read especially if you like a mashup of different genres!

I read this book because I have read all of Sherrilyn Kenyons books. I was hooked on this series with first book I read. It has everything a reader could ask for in a book. The series never gets boring, and just when you think you have figured it out-something's twists again. My hat is off to you Sherrilyn Kenyon. You are a gifted writer. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes adventure with everything wrapped up in between a cover.

Fans of Sherrilyn Kenyon and the Dark-Hunter world are in for a treat! I have to admit I've missed a couple of the latest books, mostly due to wanting to reread the whole series. So when I got DRAGONBANE for review I was excited and worried. I know this series deserves to be read in order, but I wanted to dig right into reading this new release. I finally decided to go ahead and read it and I'll backtrack later one. I'm so glad I did! DRAGONBANE is fast-paced, engaging, and so very satisfying! Yes there are things left open for the next story but I found the ending to be thrilling. Fans of the series will be so glad to see this one arrive. Those who are new to the series can in fact read DRAGONBANE and not be totally lost. I'll say that there are parts that may be a bit like knowing there's an inside joke you are missing out on, but overall it works. I am eager to now go back and read the couple of books I missed, you'll find in DRAGONBANE characters to love and ones you'll love to hate. As with all of Sherrilyn Kenyon's stories there's more than one way of looking at things and you'll need to keep guessing to find the truth. I loved seeing previous characters from the series. I'd recommend DRAGONBANE to all fans of Kenyon's but also to those who love a great story with outstanding characters and plots that keep you turning the page. With this one I started it around 5pm and stayed up all night to read it, I couldn't put it down, I just had to know how it would end! Thank you Ms. Kenyon for another great story and a series that keeps me on my toes! Highly Recommended for all Keeper Shelves!

This book is action packed. So much new information. Characters coming together in a way that is in sync and adds to the richness of the story. And that ending! Oh My! One year is too far away for the next one.

I can sum up my harsh feelings for this book with one word. Serafina. If I could reach into a book and b**ch slap a fictional character I would do so and gladly in this case.
Literally, she is just awful. She betrays her mate for...reasons? None were good and she never redeemed herself IMO. I've personally given up on this author. I loved her on the beginning of this series. Now? Meh at best, awful at her worst. This to me, was awful. I wanted her to suffer and she never does. It's like a bully in school.....you want them to have their comeuppance for daring to hurt another so unjustly....and yet she's the lead character with a fabulous guy like Maxis!?!?
I could not buy that. Also, he's just more or less over it once she shows up.....just shrugs and rolls with it....and that made me dislike him! It's like reading about an abusive relationship but the author thought "oh, well the chicks the abuser so whatev!" Noooo....abuse and betrayal are just that. And I seriously could not wait to finish this book.
This is a personal review, I in no way review professionally and in no way leave a good review because I was given a book for a good review. I hate when you read reviews and there's dozens upon dozens of professional/arc reviewers that give five stars just because....they make me waste money on false pretenses and its misleading. That being said, if you are a huge fan of Kenyon and HAVEN't thought her recent books are just filled with more shock value then good writing, then give this a try. But I personally disliked this book greatly.

Dragonbane by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Paranormal Romance -Aug. 4th, 2015
4 stars
Maxis Drago is a dragonshifter with the misfortune to discover his mate is a dragon slayer named Seraphina. Maxis loves Seraphina enough to endure living with her disrespectful clan just so they can be together. But when she betrays him and he nearly dies, he vows never to forgive her.
But you can’t outrun your past. The duplicitous Seraphina comes back and dares to ask him for a favor. She reveals that he is a father of twins. A son and a daughter. And she needs him to save them. Maxis can’t believe he is hurt by her further betrayal. But his resentment will not get in the way of rescuing the children he has never known. As Seraphina and Maxis work together to find their children they also find the passion they never lost. But Seraphina hurt on such a deep level Maxis and he isn’t sure if he can open his heart again.
No one creates noble, tortured heros like Sherrilyn Kenyon. Maxis is a strong warrior that loved his mate even if she treated him disrespectfully. As long as he was with the woman he loved he could endure living with the clan that hated him for his dragon blood. However, while he was willing to sacrifice even his dignity for his love. His mate, Seraphina was proud and could not quite live with that fact that her mate was a dragon. But when she betrayed him and lost his love she realized how much she lost. Although she alienated Maxis, she soon realized she had their young children to protect. However, when they become pawns Seraphina must swallow her pride and ask the only man that has ever made her happy for help. The set up for this story is dramatic, as is Seraphina’s entrance back into Maxis’s life. Seraphina seems cold and not at all likeable. But it clear although he tries to hide it that Maxis still loves Seraphina. I admired how he puts aside his pain to try to save his children. But it was difficult to care Seraphina, even though she asks Maxis for help she still seems to look down upon him for being a dragon. Throughout the book I kept asking myself if she was worthy of him. But thankfully she changes and sees other couples with differences find love and overcome difficult obstacles. She slowly learns tolerance and humility. I only wish their relationship could have been explored more and seen more softness or doubt in Seraphina earlier. The best sections of the story include Sanctuary where Maxis finds a ‘home’ with people that care about him and support him. I loved reading about characters from past books and how they are faring. I also enjoyed reading about Maxis’s grown up children. Children what have secrets even from their mother. Their protect and care for each other on a level that their parents didn’t. However, the very best part of the book was reading how Maxis, Seraphina and their children finally become a real family!

Two weeks ago my review for Sherrilyn's Son of No One was posted here on Bookish Lifestyle. And while I liked it, I didn't love it and I knew Sherrilyn is capable of doing better. Ladies and gentlemen, HERE IS BETTER! I was so nervous about this series after reading So of No One, but I should have known better than to doubt the Author Goddess.
Dragonbane is the epitome of my love for Sherrilyn and her books. We have a familiar character as our main man and are constantly in contact with old favorites. After finished Dragonbane, I understood why Sherrilyn needed to tell Son of No One. The way her stories connect and interact and feed off one another is nothing short of genius - there's a reason we Menyons call her "Author Goddess" and books like Dragonbane are a prime example!
If you're familiar with her novels, you know Maxius is the dragon Were-Hunter that lives in the attic Sanctuary. Not much is known about him other than he's a dragon, he lives in the attic, and he never sets foot outside of Sanctuary. Immediately we are introduced to Seraphina, a fierce the store warrior and fellow dragon Were-Hunter. Seraphina comes from a the store warrior of humans who can turn into dragons (verse Maxis who is a dragon that can turn human) and take pride in hunting and killing his kind. Right? Not the best start to a relationship, but some of Sherrilyn's OTPs have been through worse.
The wonderful thing about Sherrilyn's books is that she has some bad ass female characters. They're not sitting and waiting to be saved, they're out there fighting just as hard (and sometimes harder) than some of the male counterparts. Seraphine is no exception - especially coming from an ancient tribe of the store warriors. She is from a society where woman are above men in all things, but comes to love Maxis as an equal, not someone she needs to constantly care for.
Full of snark, beloved characters, and a hot and steamy romance Dragonbane will you keep turning pages until late hours of the night (or early hours of the morning really). You'll love getting to know Maxis, especially those who first met him in Night Play, and delving deeper into the most intricate and mind blowing world I've ever read.

We return to Sanctuary where we meet the dragon Maxis Drago and his the store life mate Seraphina, whom he hasn’t seen in a couple of hundred years due to her humiliating him in front of her Queen. This book starts off with plenty of action that doesn't stop until the last page. The world building unfolds with the perfect spacing - not too much information revealed at once, nor too little. The Dark Hunters are immortal warriors with a terrible curse hanging over their heads. Max is a dragon that was cursed long ago and has had to live without his life mate.
You've have to love a hunky Alpha male who knows how to wield his weapon and is the perfect balance of dominance and sweet. You ALSO have to love a strong, independent woman who knows that she messed up. Max and Sera are both loyal to the bone, making them the perfect fighting force against the evil that threatens all their lives.
I was so invested in the outcome of Max and Sera struggles, it was almost hard to breathe as things became more complicated and the happily-ever-after seemed further out of reach. Sherrilyn Kenyon knows how to write characters you will root for with just the right amount of tension to make the ending a true triumph. Everything about these characters were different including the villain, who happened to be the the store Queen.New characters, lots of interaction with ones we've already met. New mysteries added to the wealth of intrigue already built up in previous books. This stands alone as a suspenseful drama, with heated romance, but it also is a part of a larger story arc with the other novels that slowly build up a gripping backstory and create a brand new mythic soap opera of ancient gods caught up in passions of love and hate.
Sherrylin's Dark hunter series is without a doubt one of the best series in the paranormal romance genre. You would think that a series that is 25+ books in there would be a lull in the story or that the writing might become repetitive but this could not be further from the truth with this series. As with all the dark hunter books this one will have you laughing and crying and holding your breath. Sherrylin is brilliant at creating a totally believable world where with each story things start to become clearer and ties start to form. My favorite parts of these books is when all the past characters come together and you remember why you fell in love with this series to start with.

I borrowed this book from the library.
As usual, I enjoyed SK's style of writing, and the new nuggets of information about Max, Savitar and how the Omegrion came into being are always welcome but I have to say, if you are a first time reader of this series, don't start with this book. I think the series has been running for too long for someone to comfortably start with this book. Especially since two different series have joined up via the previous book.
The cons for me would be how complicated the world has become. I used to do a re-read of previous books before each new book came out (because I don't have a mind like a steel trap like the Author Goddess) but I stopped buying after Styxx, since I'm happy to utilize the library services my taxes have paid for, and so the re-read option has gotten difficult and I found myself a little confused about some things. The other major 'con' for me was the dialogue during flashback in time moments. Modern slang, while amusing and cute, are really not appropriate during those parts of the story that are taking place waaaaay back when.
All in all, I would recommend this book if you enjoy Sherri's style of writing and are happy to suspend disbelief to a certain extent but if you are unhappy with too many unanswered questions, I guess the option is to wait till all the 'dragon' cycle of books have come out then give them a go?

I did not enjoy this book. It suffered from a overabundant cast of characters, it was drowning in far too much backstory and interpersonal relationships, and the actual plot was rather muddy and not much resolved by the end of the book. It was a push for me to actually finish the thing.
Now, part of this may be my own fault. I bought this in a bookstore because it was cheap and I liked the cover. I didn't realize it was smack in the middle of like three series. Which may explain all the characters. I'm sure fans know and love them and were happy to see even the ones who were barely mentioned. But I am not a fan. This was my first Sherrilyn Kenyon novel and it will be the last.

Intriguing story line with strong characters. Maxis and Seraphina were fated a very long time ago which was a cruel joke by the fates. Maxis is an original dragon and Seraphina is an the store who prides herself on how many dragons she has killed. Thousands of years ago, Seraphina turned on Maxis and allowed her tribe to subject him to horrible torture that almost killed him. Maxis vowed to leave and never return to her even though it meant a life of celibacy for himself. When Seraphina turns up at Sanctuary looking for Max, he is more than surprised to see her.
The Dark Hunter series has been a favorite of mine for years. If you’ve never read the books I highly recommend taking the time to invest in an awesome series! Book 19 tells the story of the original dragons, how the Arcadians and Katagari’s were created and why the hatred exists between the groups. Now this wasn’t a typical dark hunter novel but was more focused on the other characters and species that exist in this world then on the dark hunters and their stories. It answered a lot of questions that have lingered throughout the years.

When I learned that the new arc in the Dark-Hunter Series was going to be dragons, I was a little upset. These series has so many amazing books and such a detailed plot line. However, after 20 or so books, I was hoping we’d get to some major heroes. Like Savitar. Or Jaden. Or Jared. Or Thorn, especially after Son of No One! (I totally ship Thorn and one of the Devereaux sisters, though I can’t remember which one ) While Max-the-dragon-in-the-attic was intriguing, I want Savitar and a huge battle against the Gallu demons and Noir and Azura. In this book, I did some battles with gallu demons but just enough to prick my interest for more!
This book went into detail about the origins of Were-Hunters and how they were created. Most of the Were-Hunter books have a brief explanation of an ancient king who tried to thwart the Apollite’s curse by splicing his sons with animals such as wolves, bears, and dragons.. However, Dragonbane offered a first hand account of the creation of Were-Hunters, and the beginning of the Were-Hunter council, and why Savitar, cough, moderates it.

I just am not enjoying this book. Ok, I havent read any other books from the series but it brings enough backstory so its easy enough to follow who means what to whom. It explains the were clans 3 times so ok i get it. Deamons: always bad, humans and gods: capricious and untrustworthy. Sounds like another fun romp in modern times with legends come to life. And also everyone can teleport like Nightcrawler. Except nothing can start happening until the two main characters sniff eachother for half the book and any action scenes take place off camera.
As a guy who has enjoyed scifi fantasy books that are rated from young adults to mature I cant figure out where this one wants to be placed. It has mature themes but is written with a 13 yr old's nuance. I found myself laughing at some (most) of the romance.
But maybe this, like the Twilight books, isn't geared for me. A woman getting divorced from the perfect man (I mean wtf levels of perfect. Perfect look, sent, protective, loyal, smart, funny, devoted and also physically unable to cheat on his mate. If I were this writters husband I'd be deleting my second phones history about now) and using the kids to get back with him plot I don't say is wrong to have a fantasy about but it's not for me.

2.5 (audiobook) I am struggling to say something about this book in the series. I was really excited to read the dragon book, and boy was I disappointed. I love this series each book has it's own fire and spice this one just felt unseasoned. I was never on the edge of my seat with anticipation, never got that tingle in my toes at the smexy bits and I didn't develop any cares about the main characters. I could have quit reading (listening) to it at any point, I just didn't care. There was something missing, the emotional build up, the sense of urgency, or the fear of the bad, it wasn't there for me. It was duller than watching TV, and more predictable.
I will continue the series, I committed to this story line but I hope that the author puts the lojo back in her characters for the next one.
Note: the narrator was dong great except when they read the mother/older woman part AUUGGH how awful ! Fingernails on the chalkboard.

First I have to say that I love Maxis from his first introduction. He was mysterious but interesting, so why must he, much like Darling in her League series be paired with a weak woman who betrays him constantly and never really apologizes for it. Never has a good reason for what she did.
Because he is bonded he has no choice but to love and accept her, but I cannot see how his heart is anywhere involved as she never shows anything remotely resembling love towards him. Not once.
She allows her people to humiliate him, beat him, break his wings and degrades him and simple says well you just have to take it, your an animal. She abuses him at ever turn and he accepts her back, in my mind, simply because the fates decree it.
What kills me more is that if a male character did this to a female character fans would be up in arms protesting.
I wonder why an author would write a book that "tells" people it is okay if the one you "love" abuses you and treats you poorly as long as they love you as that is the message she is sending.

Sadly, this book has not measured up to Kenyon's ruler. Given the near utter lack of 'present' day, and the bulk of the book being done as exposition to the two main characters' history, it reads more like a novella than a novel in what it provides. Unlike the very very sad turn Hamilton has taken with her Anita Blake novels, Kenyon can certainly redeem this series.
Though I will say. Just once. I would like to see one of these main characters that have spent hundreds or thousands, of years being treated as pure trash and less than animals. Live up to their spoken promises of never forgiving blatant mindless cruelty. If I had suffered what Max suffered at the hands of his 'mate' you could be damn sure I wouldn't be bedding the woman that did such to me within a week of her walking back into my life. That is perhaps my biggest issue with this book beyond the lack of detail spent outside of Sera's thoughts of how she wronged him. But by how stupidly easy he appartently gets over it.

I couldn't be happier with this story. I've been waiting for Max's story for a long time and I think the author gave him a HEA worthy of each and every single page it was written on.
The chemistry between Max ans Sera was sizzling and the fact that they had to fight every step of the way to finally have a modicum of peace and that Seraphina's sudden return didn't magically fixed everything and they went back to been together was a big plus too.
I am freakishly curious about Apollimy and Savitar and am wondering if there will be a HEA or at least a HFN in there.
There was that OMG scene with Illarion (which I'm glad will be solved in the next book) and the waterworks went into overdrive a bit there at the end which now has me curious about Falcyn.
I just can't wait for more of this series and the characters we love.
HEY, who was a time machine? Where is a Were-Hunter when you need one *pouts*

Antisocial and withdrawn, Max stays inside Sanctuary until old enemies threaten the wife he thought died centuries ago and since New Orleans has become the battleground for the oldest of evils, these two dragons will have to hold the line or die trying in this thrill a second paranormal romance. There is no denying that the war has begun and Max and Sera’s story is only the tip of the iceberg which has me on pins and needles waiting for the next story, especially after what happened at the battle in Mount Olympus. I have to recommend that you read as much of this fascinating and complex series in order as you can because you may end being a little lost or confused when it comes to all the complexities of the numerous characters involved and the intricate web of pandemonium that fate has spun.

Picked up this book at Walmart - the cover looked cool, and the description on the back sounded intriguing. I should probably remember not to trust those anymore. Here I was expecting epic dragon battles in the middle of a modern city, but instead there's this dumb romance...
Oh well, I was away from civilization at the time of reading, so I wasn't very picky - decided to keep reading. I was willing to forgive that half of the book is the main characters being horny, that more than half the story takes place in the past in the form of flashbacks, that Seraphina is dumb as a box of nails, and even that the judge (one of the gods? Don't remember) talks like he's from a ghetto. BUT. Max - a vicious cold-blooded dragon (as he was actually described in the beginning of the book), one of the deadliest creatures to ever inhabit the earth, a giant reptilian killing machine - at the end turns out to be an equivalent of Jesus. Always putting others' needs before his own, sacrificing his own safety and well-being for the safety of others, enduring all of the pain and suffering for the sake of love, misunderstood, mistreated, the greatest hero, the best loving husband and father and basically the most perfect man on earth. THAT I could not forgive. I skimmed through the end, tore the book in half and threw it in the trash.

It had been awhile since I read a Were-Hunter novel. Dev was the last if I was not mistaken. Fortunately, I had the Dark-Hunter Companion to fully refresh my mind on the legend of the wolves and dragons. With this installment, Ms. Kenyon had just opened a gateway leading to many paths. The story of this book evolves on Greek-Atlantean-Sumerian-Arthurian Myths. Such a brilliant idea!!! I was so entertained with the smorgasbord of the old and new characters. I was so thankful that I got to read them again. The Dark-Hunter world had just gotten even bigger. Loved it! Since the dragons had risen, I am looking forward to reading more novels pertaining to Lords of Avalon. Kudos Ms. Kenyon!

My only little gripe about this Dark-Hunterverse series is the confusing reading order. Confusing!!! To start, I will read this series to the end. BUT...this book kept my head reeling trying to keep up with the species structure. When there are so many books, species and characters in a series this long you can end up baffled. The half-breeds, the were-breeds and clans, the merged/altered,...etc. I have lost track of who belongs with what species/clan, who is whose mate, and it was cause for stressful reading. YET....I still love the Kenyon World. I do miss the original characters and was glad to see a lot of them re-appear, although briefly, for backup. (I do miss Simi)!!! I can't wait to read Falcyn's book and hope that Savatar is close behind. I will say this....sometimes there are too many re-visits to the back story. I don't feel the need to read the same flashbacks every couple of chapters. Sherrilyn, my one request for now is this....can you please send someone after Illarian!!!! :) I, for one, am not throwing in the towel!!!!

Mrs. Kenyon finally brings us Max story. Max is the Dragon's Bane the first dragon. He spent most of his life alone only for his mate to come back with terrifying news. Demons have taken their twins. Twins he knew nothing about.

Loved this book. Re-read it when I got Dragonmark delivered to bring me up to speed. But I have to say if any of you are getting Dragonmark save your money. I am over 70% through the book and is basically Dragonbane and the book of Cadegan and Josette (word for word) literally with a short version of Illarion and Edilyn at the beginning and praying for at least a few new pages at the end of a new story at the end of them living happily ever after. Have never in all my years of reading had to skip chapter after chapter because I've read it in previous books. How is a writer allowed to charge these prices for a book that was over half written in 2 previous books??!!! Like I said have not finished yet but so far very unhappy in the new Dragonmark.

Maxis is the mysterious dragon who lives in the attic of Sanctuary. When his past comes back to him in the form of Seraphina, his mate, he learns things that have been hidden from him. With war coming to them will they be able to save those closest to them? Max and Sera must come to terms with their brutal past in order to fight old and new enemies. This is an intense read with a lot going on. I loved it!

Paying over 14 bucks for the KINDLE version of a rehash of an older story where the female love interest is a pure dog-in-heat and turns over the hero that she supposedly loved/etc so he could be tortured then thousands of years later they magically meet up again and the hero actually falls for her - again - despite bearing MUCH proof of her addiction to betraying him? I don't think so.
I don't like back-stabbing, lying, children-withholding female leads and I don't like gullible "was presented as cool but come to find out he's really kind of weak and pathetic" male leads, and I don't like annoying, over-complicated, "multi-level to the point of needing an encyclopaedia to follow them" inconsistent plots and characters whose personalities apparently change on a whim.
This is not supposed to be an horrendously badly outlined academic course...these are supposed to be books where for some reason readers expect to find leading females who are not just tolerable but actually (gasp) likable (and who don't need to just be put down like Max's ""mate"" obviously does), and male leads with brains bigger than their sex organs.

this was amazing!!!! maxis and seraphina are a perfect match!!! I can't wait until aug. to read dragon marked. this book touched my heart the way the world goes around judging people for things they can't help. this book touches on how we as people just because of where they come from and hold grudges for storys we have only heard. I love this book and it message.

I loved the first dozen or so of the Dark Hunter novels, but in recent years they've gone from bad to worse. The mythology grows ever more convoluted and ridiculous. Worse, I often don't care for the characters. In Dragonsbane, I should be able to identify with the female protagonist, Sera, but I find her contemptible. I've given this author multiple chances with sub-par books, but this will be the last.

Overly busy with a zillion new minor characters woven throughout with no backstory...I've enjoyed this entire series and this author, but this one in particular is disjointed, complicated, and an absolute effort to read. No fun escapism here, no real character development of the main players or even the new ones that pop in every other paragraph. A shame, really, because a story about the enigmatic dragon in the attic should have been epic.

I have always LOVED this series of books, but it is now way too unwieldy. There is too much backstory that she adds to each book that is unnessary to this story. It feels like she is making room to talk about old characters again just to say the name rather than the character being important to the story.
I would love for this author to write more books, just not related to this series or any other she has written.

I am a big fan of SK, but this book was a great disappointment, first what made it a DH book? Plus i was lost, seems like 2 or 3 stories in one book. Wish i had not bought the hardback, too much money for so little entertainment.
